Hangover burger again... Yes, it's improved! They have Coppertail Night Swim on tap and they're across the street from me- I love them!

Great place to grab a beer, a cocktail or some quick snacks. This is Anchor Bar's second location, their first still operates on Davis Islands in South Tampa. Anchor Bar is perfect for a downtown lunch, an afternoon drink, or a late night snack. Their prices are appropriate for the neighborhood, and I've always had great service when I've visited. Their wings are fantastic, but be sure to try the Hangover Burger! Might be one of the best fried egg burgers I've tried in a long time. The hand cut fries are very good as well. Cant wait to come here again.

Met up with Anna M. here since I was in the area. If it was not for her, I probably would have never been in here. Glad I did. I'm usually not the type just to go into a bar, & chill out especially with football on the tv. Oh how I hate football, lol. It was different this time. I had a great time. It sounds kinda funny in my opinion drinking mimosas at a bar, but they were on special for $4 or $5 for a Saturday. We had fun chit chatting. The bartender Nick was awesome, & all was well. There were a decent amount of people in the bar, but Nick always did an awesome job making sure we had everything.

The Anchor Bar of Davis Island has opened another location in Downtown Tampa. It is just a few doors down from Eddie & Sam's and Jerk Hut. Everything is pretty much the same as the DI location: the interior, the seating, the bar set up. This location is also small and quaint as its sister location. Good news too! Your favorite bartenders (Jenna, Jen, Nick, etc.) from DI work the bar here also. Food options and quality are the same. Selection is diverse and food is just as delicious. Restroom remained the same too: one restroom. One. I am not a huge fan of this situation. There were several lines tonight. Thank goodness I didn't have to go so bad that I had to wait in one. If you are an Anchor Bar fan like I am, check this location out. Be mindful that the whole block is 514 N Franklin Street and this location isn't too visible if you aren't paying attention.

Anchor bar is a legendary spot. This place is just up beat, very well run, and is always improving. I love the service and watching the ball games every Sunday whenever I got the chance too. If your in Davis Island stop here for a nice lunch while your at it.

My lovely husband and I decided to do a date night at Tampa Theatre. We decided to head downtown early for some pre-movie drinks. Without a plan of where to go, we stumbled into The Anchor Bar. I really liked it! We sat at the bar and the bartender that was serving us was so friendly and chatty. My husband, who is a beer guy, was impressed with the fact that Anchor Bar had all of his favorites on tap (Jai Alai, Fat Tire, etc). I had a beer and then saw that it was 25% off wine on Wednesday so I switched to wine. For a glass of Nobilo that is usually $7, the 25% off was quite nice! This is a smaller establishment, so I would not recommend coming in with a large group but it is a great spot to catch a game and hang with friends. There was a good mix of regulars and newbies the night we were there. Tip: The bartender makes a signature shot called the Flaming Pumpkin. Fireball Whiskey and pumpkin beer. I didn't get a chance to try it, but it is definitely intriguing!

Thanks again, YELP!! Cozy little downtown bar with friendly staff, tv's, great happy hour prices and good food! We will definitely revisit when we are in the area! The "anchor bar sauce" is spicy & yummy (on anything!)

Nice find . Pleasant staff . Nice selection of beers I enjoyed the Sweetwater Pale Ale. The anchor burger was a large hunk of beef cooked as I asked. Lettuce tomato and the spice mayo were excellent. Salads are enormous and not saturated in salad dressing. All round good find. And for us upper 50's set, the music track was excellent . Dry Cajun wings reportedly good by my wife. They were gone before I could get one

We love this place. The food, the beer selection, the location, the staff, and the anchor sauce!!! All great!!! We visit the DI location mostly, but like that the bartenders switch locations and work at both DI and Downtown. This place also has a new menu and the fish tacos are pretty darn good - but I'll always favor the anchor fries! It's a huge portion, so expect to share because one person cannot eat them all!!

Very glad to see this joint open downtown; the Davis Island location was cool but kind of "out of the way" for most people, at least for me. Tried it Saturday night and had a good time. Drinks were reasonable, bartender was alone but quick and accommodating, and it just has a good vibe. Decor is great and there are a lot of TVs for the space...which I have to admit, isn't very large. Overall, glad to see downtown growing and Anchor Bar is a fitting addition! Note 1 important negative: ONE bathroom! It wasn't busy the night I was there, but this could be a terrible situation on any other night. Don't get that, the 1 bathroom is large enough for 2 separate. TIP: Located on Twiggs, not Franklin!

A small, friendly local pub. Great, fast service. The beer's cold and the food is hot. Clean and simple. Lots of TVs, too. Stop in if you're in the area. Enjoy!

I had a negative review at first but was happy see that management made an honest attempt to reach out and correct my only gripe. Which was simply an awful bartender, Good for them and it's a fun place to relax, grab some bar food and grab a beer with friends. Small but relaxing, as long as the music isn't cranking (It's not the kind of bar for that). A dart board would really add to this place I think.

I've been to the Davis Islands location a few times so I was pleased to hear a second location was opened downtown. Cant say enough great things about this place! Had the hangover burger with homemade macaroni salad... AMAZING! Jenna, the bartender was funny and engaging. Great beer selection and drink specials. Although parking during the weekday is not free, finding a spot wasn't very difficult. Will definitely return with friends!

This place is great if your a beer drinker. They allow you to sample beers on tap. I came in to watch the world series but they didn't have it on, they had to change it for me. It was a slow night, which meant closer service for us. the appetizers were delicious. we scored on a 50cent wing night, and it was good! Seems that this place has been around for a while, and they definitely cater to the locals. I'm sure this place gets crowded on a friday and saturday night. But if i'm ever in the downtown area and itching to watch a game... go hit up this place, especially on happy hour.

After walking around downtown Tampa and finding places either closed or uninviting we stumbled upon The Anchor Bar. While the bartender didn't go out of her way to make conversation with us the selection was large and the service was quick. We had drinks only, no food but the food that was served to other customers looked and smelled good. If we find ourselves in the area again we would definitely go back.
