As far as atmosphere goes, Thai Thani gets 5 stars. The decor is very elegant and extravagant, from the colorful Asian-patterned tablecloths to the light fixtures and hanging drapery to the Buddha statues and Thai art, etc. There's also an enclosed seating area where you take off your shoes that's pretty unique. If you want privacy, romance or a more special experience, ask to be seated in there. It's pretty cool. The food itself is pretty good, however, I wouldn't say that's where you'll find the best Thai food in Tampa. Although it is recognized by the government of Thailand as being one of the best Thai restaurants in the US. This in part due to the fact that the owner worked for the Royal Thai government in the Ministry of Commerce. As a matter of fact, the restaurant was established to enhance the Thai Government's policy to promote Thai food as a leading cuisine. During my most recent visit, I ordered the panang to see how it compares to my favorite panang at Thai Island. The flavor was good but it didn't quite measure up to that of Thai Island. The sauce wasn't as thick and the flavor wasn't as strong. The portion size was also quite small for lunch and didn't include a spring roll or dessert like my favorite Thai lunch spot. Service is typically good when I go although in part due to the fact that a friend's wife and her friends used to work there so they were extra nice. But in my latest visit, there was a new waitress and she was attentive for the most part. TIP: Park in the lot on the side of Channelside where the Yacht Starship is. It is free to park there till 5pm M-F. Go up the stairs nearest that lot for easier access to the restaurant and walk to the front to be seated. If you use the Channelside garage, bring your token so it can be validated in the restaurant for a lower fare.

Thai Thani is a good choice for Thai in Tampa. The food is pretty solid and the service is good. I enjoyed the pad Thai on my visit (because I hardly ever frequent a Thai restaurant without trying their version of this dish). The restaurant was pretty quiet when I went (I believe on a Friday? It was a while ago) but business started picking up as the evening went on. The decor inside the restaurant is pretty cute too. The only reason I say 4 stars is because I have had better Thai food in Tampa, but being a Channelside resident makes this restaurant super convenient. Definitely a place to try if you live close by!

Thai Thani in channel side was pretty dope as far as experiences go! The reservation process was extremely easy; called three hours before our expected arrival time on a Saturday and they were able to accommodate us in the special seating area where we were able to sit on the cushions and get the full Thai experience. The food is what bought it down a notch. The pad Thai isn't recommend, but the curry friend rice was pretty decent. The alcoholic drinks were water downed but market price. In all I think the establishment, as a whole was great just wish the food was a little better.

Huge portions! Great Thai! Love their pad Thai shrimp, sweet cashew chicken, red curry chicken! Top notch! This is conveniently located downtown channelside but parking in the garage can be a hassle and an added expense which prevents me from coming more often. Mark tells me parking is free in the Yacht Starship lot before 5PM M-F and they validate garage parking if you bring in the chip. It's not a full validation though, they only pay for a half hour and you still have to pay, which is kind of cheap of the business, but it happens. Ambiance is traditional Thai. Service has always been quick and friendly. If you are in the mood for sushi, they have that too! Their volcano roll is awesome! Portion sizes are so big, you can easily split them and still be full or have enough for another meal later. They have way bigger portions than Royal Thai Palace! :)

We were probably one of the last guests to arrive and sat at the hibachi. I'm not into hibachi because I don't like feeling like a hungry little puppy while the chef attempts to toss hot food into my mouth from five feet away. So I ordered from the Thai menu while some of my family ordered hibachi food. While we waited for our chef, we watched as the other hibachi chef tossed pieces of meat at people's mouth missing their mouths and getting it into their hair instead hence the reason I steer clear of hibachi. You get a plate of rice and then by the time you get your entree, the rice is cold. Lol!! And this guys' toss game was pretty bad. There was meat pieces on the floor when he was done. I opted for the Shrimp and Sea Bass Curry. The curry sauce was PERFECT but the sea bass texture seemed a little too soft but still good. The shrimp was good but not great. I mainly enjoyed the curry and vegetables and almost wished that that's what I'd ordered. My husband ordered cashew chicken and he ate every morsel. We also ordered the Sex on the Moon sushi roll and it was GREAT! The roll was huge and very tasty. My daughter had the kids hibachi chicken and she enjoyed her food as well. Overall, the restaurant and staff...NICE. The food and the amount of time we waited to eat, not so nice and especially since I ordered from the Thai menu but my daughter wanted hibachi. I felt guilty because my food came out way before hers. She was very hungry and my food was a bit too spicy for her. My hubby and I had food before our four year old. Thank goodness my husbands food was edible for her. She eventually got to eat and she enjoyed our chefs performance. He didn't toss food at anyone's mouth at our table so that was cool. He had a good sense of humor and he was good on the hibachi. What a relief because I thought he was going to toss food like the other hibachi table.

Excellent food and experience. Crab rangoons were the best I've had in Tampa. Soups were wonderful. Panang Curry, Red Curry, and Pad Thai were all great. Friendly, efficient wait staff and nice atmosphere. Will definitely return.

We came here, lost as to what to have for dinner on the way to the hockey game. The Yelp gods must've been smiling down on BF and I, because we didn't even Yelp search it, just walked in. Best guess ever! This place was great! I can't even right now... Ok, I'm back. We were sat immediately by the (most adorable) hostess. The waitress came over and got our drink orders. As we were looking at this massive menu, I realized I could sit here all night just trying to figure out what I wanted! The menu is extensive. Pages long. Lots of vegetarian options, so super win for me. We got our drinks. I got the Peachtini and BF got the Samurai cocktail. Both of them were really good. We needed extra time to look over the menu, not a surprise. BF got the seared sea bass and shrimp red curry. I got the Phad Garlic with tofu-vegetables, and the tofu soup. I loved the soup! It was salty, cilantro-y, all kinds of awesomeness. My main dinner was also very good. Simple, but I was feeling a simple meal. Rice had the perfect amount of sticky to it. I carry my own chopsticks with my everywhere, and I was able to eat the rice without problems with them. BF's salmon was amazing. A.Maze.Ing. He said it was some of the best cooked bass he's ever had, and that's kinda saying something because he's eaten a lot of seafood. He got the hot, and it wasn't really that hot, but I liked it (I don't like spicy food though). We ordered one more round of drinks, this time the Red Margarita and the Gold Martini. Both were awesome. We got the check, paid, left. Definitely reasonably priced. Portions were perfect, not too big or small (well, actually, my stir fry was pretty big). People who complain about portions: how much food to you need??? Message me, I'll teach you how much an actual serving of food is. The waitress was really busy, so sometimes it took 2-5 minutes longer for her to get back to us than normal. But it was Stanley Cup night, so I'd expect nothing less. And she was really nice, really good, I never felt neglected by her. I really kinda wanted the Lobster Pasta, but just wasnt in a pasta mood. I kinda wish I had now, after tasting that sea bass. It you're in the mood for some great food, I'd suggest here.

I was here 2 years ago and the food was excellent! Now, coming back in 2015, I do not understand what was so good about this place or... maybe they hired new chef? Also the prices went up quiet a bit. The portion size is not worth the price. Anyhow, we had papaya salad that was good but not that amazing as it used to be, and we ordered Panang Curry. Have to say that it was pretty sweet in taste, it was missing some spices and the veggies were very soggy, almost soupy. Also the rice was mushy. However, I enjoyed Jasmin tea in a cute tea pot. I am not sure I will go back. There should be better Thai restaurants around.

When making my yearly trips to Florida, I generally fly into Tampa International. I always make it a point to tootle around the city for at least the afternoon. By the time I land, I'm usually hankering for a Cuban sandwich - some of the best in the country can be found in Tampa - but for some odd reason, on this one particular trip, I was craving something else. This brought me to Thai Thani, located in a mall of sorts not too far from the Florida Aquarium. I ordered drunken noodles and fried rice. The drunken noodles didn't have as much heat as I'm used to. That lack of kick, which is a staple of the dish, really left me wanting. Half of the order of fried rice had a burnt taste to it, and some of the grains were visibly charred. I'm not quite sure how this could have happened without some sort of oversight from the chef.

How does this place have 4 stars? You would think a Thai place should have good Pad Thai, right? Also, there was puke and/or poop all over the bathroom stall. Awesome.

This place is practically in my backyard, and for some reason it took me 9 months to try it. I'm not sure if it's tainted with the sigma of the Channelside shops or what, but what a shame- I wish I would have gone sooner!!! This is one of the most beautiful Thai restaurants I've ever been too- very ornate interiors: beautiful pagodas, gold happy Buddas, tapestries, and thai lanterns adorns the interiors. There are little sectioned off spaces, including a traditional screened in room where you could have a private, traditional party (will definitely keep in mind for future birthday celebrations). What I didn't know is on the other side of the restaurant is a Japanese restaurant including a hibachi! So you can get Japanese, sushi and Thai all in one place!!! So freaking awesome!!! The food was really great; all the traditional favorite were represented. Prices are fair- $55 got us both a drink apps and entree. Wil definitely go back: my new official go-to for all Asian cuisine!!!

You've got to try the fried whole fish , it's the star! Had a lovely evening with family and friends, great ambience and there's plenty to do before and after at channel side . You've got to reserve the center private seating where you can sit on the floor and relax your feet underground!

I ordered a dish recommended by the waitress and it turned out to be an excellent choice. Authentic and delicious Thai food served to perfection.

Thai Thani. It could be a great spot... However it's stuck in a run down entertainment place. So there is no crowd or no sense of urgency. On the up side. A new developer just purchased the channel side district! Lots of new entertainment and dinning options are coming! I really hope Thai Thani stays and will survive the redevelopment timeframe. They have always been a great restaurant in this are when it was in its heyday! Check it out! Don't let me shy you away... Make sure to check out their pad Thai served in the spice levels. Their satay is great, as is their egg rolls and wonton soup! As for the inside its BEAUTIFUL! Decorated in authentic style draperies and fixtures! Give it a shot! You won't be disappointed!

This place has some really good Thai food. I eat a lot of Thai cuisine, I mean a lot! I've been here twice and both times the food was consistently outstanding. The second time I went with a big group, so we ordered a lot of different menu items, and I tried them all. The place is very clean, the decor is very captivating, the service is fast and friendly. All in all, this is one of my favorite restaurants in the area. I think the value for the quality is unbeatable. This would be a restaurant I would recommend to anyone. The only trouble I have is with parking. Because I'm new to the area, I have not figured that part out yet.

Went to Thai Thani for a late lunch. The ambiance is wonderful; much nicer inside than expected. I anticipated your run-of-the-mill place, but this is set up as a fine dining restaurant. Our server wasn't the best, but the food made up for his aloofness. Their fresh spring rolls and steamed dumplings (from the appetizer menu) were great! They have rare tuna with avocado and roe that is TO DIE FOR. Served in crispy wonton shells on top of two glass rocks glasses, even the presentation was amazing. Not sure what it is called as I can't find it on their online menu, but I'm sure a picture will suffice! I also ordered the chicken Thai noodle soup. Added wontons to it (because they're my favorite) and it was great! Chicken Mixed Vegetable dish was good, as well. I highly recommend this restaurant for a date night scenario as it is laid back and upscale. Our meal (for two people) came out to around $50 so it's wonderfully priced for such a nice place.

This is my second time here! Today I got double delight. The service is wonderful and the food is great with real flavor. The last time I came with a group of people so we ordered different items and shared. The crab Rangoon was great. The double delight was chicken and shrimp with scallions, peppers carrots, onions and mushrooms. There was a lot of chicken but two measly shrimp. That is deceiving to me. The double delight was also to sweet for my tastebuds. They give you a garden salad with every meal but the salad is just iceberg lettuce with grated carrots- no real nutritional value or taste. The ambiance is fantastic they have used a lot of Thai pieces to give it an authentic feel such as carvings, statues, table cloths, lighting etc. The parking is free and right across the street

I ordered alot of food from Thai Thani using the Tampa Doorstep delivery service. The food was very ordinary and not really very tasty. The dishes are not worth the price. Not much flavour. Not going there again. #Disapointed

Some of the best Thai food I've ever had. Seriously. This food is so good, I wanted to hug my waiter. We tried a bunch of stuff. The panang curry, yellow curry, the wings, and more. Nothing was less than 4star.

What a mystery this place is. Maybe enough shills have scammed you into coming here with suspicious 5-star reviews, or maybe in this part of town it's just a mystery what thai food should really taste like. Being a self-proclaimed pseudo-authority on Thai food and its consumption in excessive amounts (ie the right amount), I just couldn't believe what kind of a sinking ship experience this restaurant lead me on. Bad sign after bad sign from the moment we walked in but for some twilight zone curiosity brewing in our souls we refused to turn back and boy oh boy did we regret it.... The place was completely empty and the hostess hesitated to let us pick our own seat. You have 0 customers and 0 reservations. Who are you saving seats for? The thai food rush at 7:23pm? They wouldn't allow simple substitutions either. Noodles were a waste and not cooked well. Curry was very watery and had almost no flavor. Confused and hap hazard service. Forced me to not tip and also to never return. You should do the same!

This place has no consistency at all whatsoever because every time we come, it tastes different each time. None of their noodle dishes are good and their papaya salad is so effortless. If you want authentic Thai food, I would not recommend this place. The only good thing about this restaurant is their sushi. Not hating, just keeping it real.

Ordered takeout. First the person on the phone was confused about the menu and wasn't familiar with the items I asked for. Then we had to wait for 20 min longer than the original 30 min quoted. Finally got back to the hotel only to realize they had forgotten to include my main dish.

I like to eat at a restaurant more than once before reviewing so I can see how consistent the experience is but I think our experience was probably what we would get the 2nd time around so here goes: 1st off, the decor is amazing!!! We actually decided to eat here after walking by last week after our meal at Hablo Taco. This is the type of unique place you would take friends from out of town. I would have liked to hear thai music or even ambient house music instead of top 40. I hate when places like this choose music that doesn't speak to their unique offering as a dining experience. Anywhoo, I was really impressed with the huge lunch menu....so many choices and the prices were very fair for the portions. Hubby and I both had the chicken pad thai (my personal test meal when I try a new Thai place). It was pretty darn good. Not the best in Tampa; that title still belongs to Pacific Thai in Oldsmar but I would order it again. Krab rangoons: I will have dreams about you until we meet again. Service was a little slow considering that there were patrons at 6 tables and 3 waiters sooo...if they fix that and the music, this place could become a must-visit.

Nice location and surprising setting inside. Thai Thani offers in separate parts of the restuarants Thai and Japanese cuisine. Atmosphere 85 Very interesting and exotic Service 75 Nothing memorable Food 85 Better then most Asian restaurants Value 85 Nice all the way round. Recommended if you are in the area. One of the better choices in Riverwalk where you can actually enjoy a sit down meal without the heavy brew.

Thai Thani is quite legit. I've been coming to this restaurant for years. While it is not my favorite Thai restaurant in town, it is consistently good. I highly recommend the Yellow Curry. It is deliciously spicy and fresh. I also love their Crab Rangoons. That said, I've never had a bad meal here and it is never crowded, so the service is good. My only hope is that it doesn't go out of business due to the less than desirable Channelside location!

First sight of the restaurant I was a bit confused as there is a sushi restaurant adjoined, no worries. By this being my first time in Tampa my friend wanted me to visit this place as this was the first place she went to when she moved to Tampa. Went to the bar and the bartender was immediately engaging and helpful. We ordered so much food and appetizers as the first round of food was amazing. Thanks to the mike(Mai I believe his name is). The bartender recommended everything down to the drinks and he did not disappoint. That is very odd as some establishments do not. The sashimi was so fresh and amazing. The Thai food as well but sushi was 100% good. Now drinks, the bartender was not only good at food recommendations but from saki to drinks made(very good mixing drinks) did not disappoint. My very first stop in Tampa and first restaurant and drink was superb thanks to mike(ma). I will definitely return.

I've eaten at Thai Thani several times but it's been awhile. This last visit didn't disappoint. We started our meal with a delicious warm bowl of Tom Ka Gai soup which had the perfect balance of flavors. For our entrees my husband ordered the Garlic Grouper but wanted it replaced with Salmon. The restaurant was very accommodating of his request. The fish was a little overcooked but the flavors were spot on. I ordered the Chicken Panang Curry which was creamy and delicious. Word of Caution: Clarify the Heat scale with the watier. When I asked the waiter he told me the scale was 1 - 5 for spice. I ordered a 3 and it was extremely spicy for me. When I mentioned this to the waiter he said he ordered my dish "Hot" as the scale was mild, medium, medium hot, and hot. I'm not sure how my request for 3 translated to Hot.

We frequent this restaurant even though we live more than 15 miles away. Several dishes we would recommend are sizzling duck, pad sew ew, chili jam with whatever meat/tofu you prefer, prawn in clay pot (a little salty), steamed cod with black bean sauce, duck noodle soup. Also, the sushi rolls are delicious with attractive presentation.

Ordered the Egg Rolls and Cashew Nut Chicken. Soft Egg Rolls were delicious. Topped with a sweet red sauce. Tasted great! Asked for a spice Cashew Nut dish and they delivered. Ordered it 'hot' and I am plenty used to spicy food. It had just the right kick and with a side dish if sticky rice it hit the spot. Coconut Ice Cream for dessert :-)

Food was good. Especially the chef special. Service was mediocre and slow even when not busy. Drinks must not have had any alcohol. Serving size of wine was way less than 5oz for $10.

After a long Gasparilla weekend, my friends and I ended our trip at Thai Thani largely because it was within walking distance of our hotel. The restaurant was large and spatious with booths, tables/chairs, and floor/pillow seating. In addition to the pillow seating, the decorations and music gave an authentic Thai feel. The menu itself was pages long and had a lot to offer. The crab rangoons were at the top of the appetizer list and had good reviews. Unfortunately, they had run out the night before so we tried the crispy spring rolls and the calamari instead. Neither disappointed! Both apps were lightly fried, extremely flavorful, and served with different sauces (i.e. duck sauce). In between the appetizers and our entrees they gave us complimentary side salads with a peanut dressing that was refreshing. For our entree's we decided on the Pad Thai ($12) and the Panang Duck Curry ($17). Both dishes were very good and had great flavor. The Panang was pretty sweet but we ordered it hot (choice of medium, hot, thai hot, firehouse) so the touch of spice provided a nice balance of flavors.

One of the best Thai restaurants I have been to. Great menu and great food. The inside ambiance is great given the crowd they serve. Tom Yam soup is at its best here. Do not miss this if you love spicy soups. Will be back!

If there was a zero star I would give it. The stoner service is terrible. We arrived at 7:45 for a 30 minute wait for a party of 6. 45 minutes go by and when I asked how much longer she said a few more minutes. And I saw that people were crossed off before and after U.S.! She then came over 15 minutes later and said they only have 3 servers so they cannot sit Us bc the servers are too busy! She didn't know how long it would be and didn't understand the more 2 person tables she say the busier they were going to be. Terrible!

I love this place! The food is spectacular. I drive all the way from Plant City just to eat here. I love the Tom Yum Goong soup and the Double Delight. Of course no Thai experience is complete without a Thai Tea. The decor is great. My only complaint is that sometimes the service is a bit slow. However, it is worth the wait!

I've only been here once, but I have to say I loved everything I got! I ordered crab rangoon and green curry, and it was all excellent. The green curry, which the waitress told me was the least spicy, was awesome but a tad spicy for me. But I ate half at the restaurant and half the next day. I've been meaning to go back, whenever I'm craving Thai. The cocktails were really good as well! I wish they had free delivery!!!

Ordered the Pad Ki Mao with chicken and medium spice to go. The dish, loaded with fresh perfectly cooked vegetables and all white meat chicken, was delicious and perfectly spiced for us. The service was friendly and quick. Will definitely come back when in town.

Amazing food! The ambiance is lovely, great place for a romantic evening or with family. I love very spicy Thai, they have a wonderful spicy tray so you can make it as spicy as you desire ( love that)! Being in channel side you can spend the whole evening there and never get board.

Walking distance. My boyfriend loves thai bring from NY. I t was just ok to me. Not really my style... The service was ok. Kind of expensive for quantity of food given. I'd be ok not visiting this place again.

A step up from Hooters, but that isn't saying very much. After being trapped in a conference room all day, a group of us struck out on the town in search of food, a bar, and possibly some sailors to pick up. We only got 2 of the three (I won't tell you which ones). Thai Thani is upstairs from the Hooters in the same hellacious shopping mall building thingy. It's an oasis of peace compared to the noisy blaring lit up skinny jean clad iPhone clutching shrieking crowd down below. The restaurant is a combo Japanese-Thai place. You can dine in the Japanese side of the dining room or the Thai side. I can't tell what difference it makes (ambiance, I guess), and you can order either side off the menu. Well, we sat on the Thai side and the decor was fairly nice with lots of Buddha statues and miniature gold palaces and so forth. The service was prompt and attentive. I ordered grilled shrimp on sauteed mixed vegetables in brown sauce and it was just...okay. The shrimp were not fresh and immensely tough and dry. I had a really hard time eating them. The veggies were all right though. Maybe I ordered the wrong dish, but there was nothing particularly special or interesting or even good about it. It didn't even seem very Thai. I guess this is about what I should expect for restaurants in Tampa, given the area I was in. Oh well.

Great food, excellent ambiance and convenient location. The spring rolls were waaaayyyy too oily and bland! It felt refried and they didn't even bother to dab the excess oil out of it. The quantities of the entrees are quite less. We got the red curry, pad Thai and the spiced fried rice. The pad Thai was unusually sweet... More like a dessert! The red curry and spiced rice was great. Towards the end of the meal we ordered the fried cheesecake and sticky rice with mango. The cheesecake batter was terribly bland and just a bad combination with the cheesecake. The sticky rice with mango was terrible too.. Nothing like the sweet sticky rice I've had at any other restaurant. The mango was raw and it just made the whole dessert worse. I would try my luck at other places before I consider this restaurant again. Great ambience though!

I've been here many times and had the various panangs and curries and every time I come the service has been exceptional and the food is good. They don't spare the coconut milk in the curry (a common money-saving technique at Thai places) which means the sauce is more full-bodied and less watery than most places. The food is out lightning quick as well. Channelside may be dying but this place is the Alamo

Came here randomly while walking around the shopping area. We were really impressed by the interior design of the place and my SIL (who went to Thailand for their honeymoon) commented that a lot of the decor was authentic Thai...looked legit to me regardless! We sat down at a grand table that probably weighs a ton. It was a gorgeous table, with a clear top and scenic wood (?) engraved underneath the top...very 3D but hard to explain. the chairs weighed a lot too...need your muscles to lift them suckers! We ordered potstickers, papaya salad and Yum shrimp salad to start. Potsticks and papaya salad was delish but there was a bug on our yum shrimp salad, and the greens were not fresh at all. They started browning which wasn't appetizing. The seafood on top looked very good though but we were scared to eat it after seeing something fly out of it. We also ordered the tom yum goong soup (they added noodles to a couple of the orders so it was like tom yum noodle soup - wahoo!), chicken phad see ew, rib eye curry, pineapple fried rice, sea bass with grilled shrimp and a couple of the chicken with rice for the kiddies. I would go back just for the sea bass...it was cooked to absolute perfection and was soooo tasty and delish! the pad see ew was also very tasty. Service was wonderful! One criticism i have is that they need to get bigger tea cups. They had little sake looking cups and we must have refilled our pots about 10 times!!!

I placed an order for take out via the Yelp app and was definitely disappointed. The chicken satay was good - the sauce had great flavor and the portion was decent - but the pad thai I got was overcooked and the taste immediately told you that the ingredients were not fresh. The chicken was extremely dry and there was too much oil used. Overall I was disappointed and wouldn't go back.

This is a cheap place to grab Thai food. Service was ok. The crab appetizer was good as was the papaya salad and double delight. Not a fan of the panang. It wasn't spicy and was too sweet.

Don't let the exterior of this place fool you. The food is great. Fantastic yellow curry. The crab Rangoons were very tasty. If I'm back in Tampa, I plan to dine here.

Love the sushi here! Not to mention they have the best tom yum soup around. Now they even have free parking in the lot right beside the star ship cruise! Happy hour is also from 3:30-7:30 and from 9-close on a variety of drinks.

In Tampa at a conference. Marriott Waterside. Restaurant is a nice short walk from Hotel. I had " three taste fish" I asked for it spicy ... It was delicious. Also had Phad Thai for leftovers later after tonight's reception ... You conference goers know how that goes. Reasonable price and nice interior. Service was prompt, polite and pleasant.

I have been coming to this restaurant for years and never had a bad experience. Authentic Thai food and a very good selection on wine and beer. They have a full service bar on site. The interior design resembles very traditional Thai motif. There is enough room to accommodate several large parties. The menu is vast, which makes a decision often difficult, in a good way. The price is moderate but the portion of food served is very generous. The dishes are large enough to be shared by two people. It's not necessarily family style portion but you could, if you want. Located inside Channel Side and on the second level, Thai Thani is surrounded by other fine dining. It's a local hangout for college kids and young business people. However, I have seen many residents from nearby condo developments. The community that the restaurant resides is growing in epic proportion. The restaurant open a Japanese restaurant inside Thai Thani. That is a very good sign of the health of the business. I highly recommend the Sizzling Duck. It is a signature dish, even though the restaurant didn't indicate as so. The seafood is fresh. I was informed that the catches are often delivered 3 times per week. The poultry, especially the duck, is heavenly. Not too greasy and it is perfect in texture. Also, it is very crispy, which is very important to roast duck. It would be a shame if you visit Tampa and did not visit this establishment for Thai. It would be a damn shame lol ;)

I ate with a few friends. They were great. It was on a game night. TB lightening was playing. They made sure we ordered the right dishes for the time that we had. Food was great. Waiter was excellent. I would go back.

The service wasn't amazing, but the food was delicious. I got the chicken pad see-ew and my boyfriend got the pad kee mao. his was a bit spicy (we got it medium) but hit the spot. My friend got his pad kee mao HOT and it was burning his mouth and he likes spice!! Would definitely go back - best pad see ew i've had in a long time!

The decor for this place is top notch. I really felt like I was entering into a restaurant located in Thailand. I was especially impressed by the area where they accommodate traditional seating. Interested in experiencing the full traditional Thai custom we asked to be sat there, however the waitress kindly told us that it needs to be cleaned and would take a couple minutes. Since we were already pretty hungry we decided to just sit in the booth. The food was ok, nothing that really stood out compared to other Thai food Ive had.

Good food and great customer service. Came with a party of four and everyone was satisfied. We had peppered steak, beef and broccoli, chicken pad thai and pad kee mao- no complaints, very delicious!!

I love walking into a Thai restaurant, most remind me of my trip to Thailand except in the US I can truly understand the menu!! They have an extensive menu here and I always find myself confused trying to figured out what to order.... soups, salads, appetizers, house specialties, seafood, duck, noodles, rice and my least favorite the spicy dishes. We had the dumplings for appetizer and the chicken fried rice and chicken curry as main dishes both very good. I like that I don't have to make reservations since there is not much foot traffic in Channelside these days but I do wish things improve in the area soon. It's a great location with a lot of potential. The staff is always friendly and the ambiance will make you feel you are in a foreign country.

Tuna Wontons as an appetizer... Awesome! Had the Panang Curry as an entree and it was absolutely delicious! Picked medium for heat and it was perfect. Great customer service and prices were reasonable. If you don't try it, you're missing out.

Really excellent Thai food within easy walking from the convention center. We're in Tampa for a conference and ate here two nights in a row. The food was great, the prices (food and wine) were reasonable, and the ambiance was very pleasant -- a fantastic value overall. Special commendation for the crab Rangoon and tuna tartare appetizers, the sizzling duck, and the sea bass & shrimp red curry entree. All were exceptional.

This place is amazing. It's so pretty and ornate inside. They have a gold model of a Thai temple as you follow the waiter. If you have a semi large group (I think it's seven or eight), you can sit in these private little rooms where you take your shoes off and sit on pillows. It's so nice. Their food is great. My go to entree here is yellow curry with tofu. It's so good. You can eat here for a reasonable price, or you can get some fancy things. My boyfriend really enjoys the tiger tear beef even though it's around $17. I've also heard good things about the lamb here. You can also order sushi, though that can get a little pricey. Their "adult beverages" are delicious, but super expensive (at least in my book). The first time I came here I spent almost $25 on two drinks. If you want to drink I recommend wet willy's downstairs, though the drinks aren't as fancy.

Order take out many times and the food was good. Tonight I was placing order and realized I did not have all the details and told them I would call right back. So I got the information and called back in less than 1 minute. This time when they answered they said they called not take my order. I was surprised and said really you do not want the business so the women put me on hold. I was left on hold for five minutes and then they hung up on me. I will never give them my business again.

My wife and I visit Thai Thani every now and then for delicious Thai cuisine and are always left feeling satiated. In fact, we typically share an appetizer and an entree due to their portions being quite large. The quality of the food is very good and has a lot of TLC involved. I also like that it is never really that crowded which lends itself to romance and very quick service. We will definitely continue to return for years to come.

This charming Thai restaurant on the second level of the Channelside plaza offers ok food, a lovely colorful atmosphere, and friendly staff. We dined here for the first time on Sunday around lunchtime. I started with Tom ka gai soup - it was delicious, but contained too much chicken for me (and a random tomato). This soup is all about the amazing broth, and the flavors were spot on. Also tried appetizers; crab rangoons were great, my husband barely let me sneak one bite. Thai spring rolls were fried (like egg rolls typically are; their "egg rolls" on the menu are apparently the cold raw kind I'm used to) and contained mostly vermicelli noodles, not enough veggies. Would not get those again but will definitely order the rangoons. Entrees: husband ordered the last noodle dish on the menu, called k...k something. Neither if us really liked it, too salty, and they cooked it with romaine lettuce, which had to me an unfortunate texture sautéed. I got the standard beef pad thai- it was pretty darn good, but on the sweet side. Actually, most of the food was on the sweet side. Though I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of their beef. Chicken not so much. I would order the pad thai again but just ask for it not sweet. -- Note for management -- a table next to us got up about halfway through our meal. The server came over to clean it. She cleared it off and then sprayed it down with Windex. This is unacceptable. I was eating 4 feet away. If I can smell it during my meal that's a problem! I happen to be extremely sensitive to chemical cleaners, but even if that wasn't the case, who wants to be inhaling Windex while eating?! I've worked in food service, and to my understanding this is "against the rules". You always use a damp rag with cleaner already on it so it doesn't become airborne around food and patrons. Please change this practice. Overall it wasn't the greatest food ever, but with the nice atmosphere and convenient location we'll probably return when we're in the area.

One thing that is fabulous about this restaurant is it is really cheap. Tonight I had dinner here with a bunch of people from work and we decided to order family-style....basically we all just ordered a ton of Appetizers and entrées and shared. I wasn't sure about how I felt about this concept but it was actually really great way to try a lot of items. The atmosphere inside is pretty cool. The only complaint I have is that honestly every time I've been here It feels like they are trying to save money on the air conditioning and the heat of some of the dishes doesn't help. We ordered a ton of dishes but these stood out the most. The best appetizers - fried tofu (weird but surprisingly good) and the steamed dumplings Entrees- The Panang Prawns are the bomb.... They are served in an amazing coconut/peanut sauce which is also amazing on top if rice. We literally ordered this dish 7 times this evening...it was that good. Rice- the tofu fried rice and phad thai were amazing Honestly ....I've been to this restaurant a few times and was never super impressed but after trying a wide array of items now I know what I like and I'll definitely be back!

Star for receptive server n informative comparisons between dishes. Menu is about 6-7 pages; lots of options. Price is comparable to OSHA in San Francisco. 2 star for the authentic Thai decor, custom and outfits. There's is an odd disco light to spruce up the environment but it's also blinding my gf - which I find comical. 3 stars for music sounds like it's from Thailand; haven't been there but this is what I imagine it would sound like. On to the food... 4 star for the appetizer- Vietnamese spring roll is the first I've seen Char enjoy. And she has very high standards. Satay is very tender. Sauce is made with love. Pad Thai n pad se ew was cooked to perfection. Basil chicken good balance between salt n spice. Seafood platter scallops was delish joys. Mussel n tiger shrimp were over cooked - minus 1 star. Overall experience 4 stars!

I used a GROUPON and was not sorry. I had the PANANG Cury --- it was very good, though I wish I'd gotten level 2 on spice vs. 3 (with 5 being the highest temp) -- even 3 made my brow sweat and I like spicy food. My friend had Pad Thai, if I was to rate the restaurant on that dish alone, it would have been a 3. The Chang beer was excellent and a great deal (happy hour?). It was not crowded at all....in fact, on a Saturday night it was almost empty---which leads me to wonder if the restaurant has had some problems? The service was great...I'd go back again even without a GROUPON.

Disappointed that the second floor view and the decor was more impressive than the food. Everything I ordered, 3 course meal, was blah. Got excited about the rice wrapped fried veggie egg rolls, hoping they were gluten free. Well, I got sick but I think it was because they did used the same oil from other wheat items. It was blah anyway, no matter how much sweet sauce I piled on, it was not worth the calories. Nice place for a date, there is a sushi place next door and a bar that separates the two large dining rooms. If you aren't picky about food. Service was just okay. Gave the extra star for decor and location.

It was my boyfriend's first time to Florida and I wanted to take him to a Thai restaurant since he is Laos/Thai. After a visit to the Thai Buddhist Temple in Tampa, we googled to see what restaurants were near by and ended up at Thai Thani. It was a little difficult to get to because it is located on the 2nd floor and the escalators were not working. There were a lot of stairs that my elderly mother could not climb but we eventually found the elevator. My first impression upon entering the restaurant was that it was beautiful. We weren't sure if we entered through the wrong door because we stood there a while and no one was coming to seat us. We finally got the waitress's attention and she sat us. My boyfriend ordered quite a few different things to try. A soup, papaya salad, mussels....He is very picky and hard to please but he liked everything. I got the crab rangoons and pad thai and liked them both very much. We got mango with sticky rice for dessert and it was delish. We will definitely be back on our next visit to Tampa.

After an eventful conference day, I decided to walk along the Tampa Riverwalk and enjoy the beautiful weather. I stumbled upon Thai Thani in the Channelside Plaza. I found the decor to be delightful and the music calming. The server was fantastic. Upon her recommendation, I ordered the sea bass and skewered shrimp curry accompanied by a glass of coconut water. The meal was entirely enjoyable. The sea bass was cooked perfectly, the vegetables were tender crisp, the rice was not too sticky, and the curry was incredible. I would not hesitate to visit Thai Thani again and certainly recommend it. It was a perfect ending to a great day.

I feel like I'm cheating on Noodle N Thai on Fletcher whenever I write about any other Thai restaurant in Tampa... however... if you want to head down to Channelside for some tasty food (and can't get take out from Noodle N Thai, lol) then head over to Thai Thani. We like the ambience here... it's perfect for a date night at Channelside. The prices are totally reasonable too, we were surprised when we initially looked at the menu, but I guess when you've lived in Boston, everything in Florida seems totally reasonable, ha! Service was great, food was delicious, not really anything to complain about at this restaurant. They have some really neat seating options too where you can sit low to the ground. Also, if your whole party has not arrived, they won't make you wait like some big busy restaurants will. They'll let you sit and order stuff until your entire party arrives. That was nice.

Enjoyed our dinner here on a Saturday night. Fun atmosphere and friendly service. Started with the steamed dumplings- good sauce. Entees were shrimp clay pot with clear noodles and ribeye masumam (spelling). Clay pot had large shrimp and excellent flavor. Ribeye cooked medium and very tender with fresh steamed veggies. Only complaint was not enough of that yummy sauce. This place is also a Japanese restaurant on the other side so you can combine menus if you want.

The Pad Thai was delicious, and the tofu actually had flavor, but for fucks sake the music in the restaurant is horrible. The CD was some douchebag playing a Yamaha keyboard. Never heard Camptown Races in a restaurant. Never would have expected it in a place where I'm eating bok choy. The guy playing the song actually played the song with the trumpet option available on the keyboard. I had my first suicidal thoughts since my last depressive episode. Good food, though,

Why 5 stars? Because it's my favorite Thai restaurant. --- --- --- First off, I realize that a bowl of Green Curry with some Thai Tea does not vary much from restaurant to restaurant...but this just happens to be my favorite. I'll admit, it's not convenient that you have to park in a parking garage, but from my days of working at the Forum, it was an easy walk across the parking lot. I'll also admit that the service isn't the greatest...but again...I understand that the culture at many Thai restaurants is different. For example: When my beverage is soon to run out, I get anxious. Most good servers are certain that you will never see the bottom of your glass, but at many Thai restaurants I have attended, they don't seem to be very concerned with this rule of thumb. Thai Thani is no exception. The service is fast, in that your food is served very quickly after ordering, however, after providing your food your server then disappears into the back and is not to be seen again until a few minutes after everyone's meal is eaten. But on taste alone, Thai Thani's Green Curry and Thai Tea have yet to be beat. So until I find somewhere that can take away the Championship Belt, I will continue to frequent Channelside. It certainly could use the traffic, does anyone go there anymore?

Sushi and sushi chef was excellent, the service from the two waitresses was slow at best. It was a Thursday night around 8pm, the place was empty at the time. I'd go back, but don't expect to be waited on with great attention.

Amidst minimal dining options, my coworker and I fortunately were able to stumble upon one of the few non hotel or chain restaurants in the area. We were a bit concerned at first with being the only patrons in the joint, but the friendly waitress settled our nerves enough to keep us from venturing elsewhere. The interior provoked the feel of being in Thailand (never been to Thailand, but it sure as hell didn't seem like Tampa). The menu consisted of a great selection of authentic Thai dishes. Though, with a lousy per diem rate, I decided to hold out on the more expensive items and opted to see if a chicken dish could satisfy me. I settled on the onion chicken which consisted of sauteed chicken with mushrooms, yellow onions, and scallions in a "mild" Thai sauce. In my opinion, dishes with such few and basic ingredients are the hardest to perfect, and I was pleasantly surprised by the flavor of the entire dish. Nothing phenomenal, but that may be my fault in what I ordered, but the experience and the food far surpassed the Hooters we encountered on the way.

I've eaten at this restaurant a few times over the past couple of years. Their food is always good no matter what I've ordered or tried. The space they are located in is very spacious and it always seems to accommodate guests with little or no wait. The staff is also very friendly. Definitely something to check out if you are in the area!

The food was Awful. Such a waste of money and a stomach ache for the rest of the night. You might think being on the coast would enhance their seafood however that IS NOT the case. Best advice is to spend your money somewhere else.. The one star is for the decor inside. Nice looking place

The food generally hits on all counts. Great flavor, large portions, perfect temperature, served quickly. I'm not a price stickler, but it's probably worth noting that this menu does have quite a few higher-priced options (like in the $20+ range) and that the traditional favorites might be a couple bucks higher than many other local Thai places. In exchange, you get proximity to all the Channelside haunts, good traditional decor, a movie theater and cheap validated parking. On the downside, the cocktails are watered down and not expertly made. My lychee martini left much to be desired. I didn't finish it and ran for the safety of wine. Also, some of the servers are fluent in Thai, not English. If you run into trouble, many of the other staff can step in to translate. Worth noting: On our last visit, the air conditioner was broken. It's July in Tampa. Honestly, the lack of a breeze on top of spicy food should be a health crime. We stayed because the other food options in Channelside are downright disasters and because we were told that the A/C sometimes "kicks in." Well, luckily it did, but not until after a neighboring table up and left and we developed mild carpal tunnel fanning ourselves furiously with napkins.

Thai amusement park. I had a generally delicious Red Curry, but my friends' noodle dishes were quite bland. I felt like I was in Orlando's vision of a Thai restaurant. Like a bunch of cats would come out with my food and sing " We are Siamese" and then Anna would show up and seduce the king and poor Eliza would have to run and get terrorized and then an elephant would bring the bill. Oh, but it was Tampa.

Was by myself checking out Channelside and decided to eat here since it had so many great reviews. The atmosphere and decor are fantastic and the staff are very friendly. It was around 6pm on Sunday and since they have happy hour daily I ordered wine and the Crab Rangoon to start. It was very delicious! The Green Curry I had for dinner was amazing too. Plentiful in veggies and meat and extremely flavorful. Great place to dine!

Another place I like to eat at when I'm in town. Walking distance from the Embassy/Marriott. Never too crowded and have never had any issue with the service. Food is yummy. Always seem to crave a bit of that spicy kick when I'm in town and have gone to Thai Thani to get my fix. Had the roasted duck curry the last time. A bit pricey but it was so good, would have ordered and eaten another if I had the time/money. Wouldn't recommend driving since its all paid parking. I'd take a shuttle service or just walk.

A great place to eat in Channelside. This restaurant has a very Asian atmosphere and also really friendly staff. They aren't very busy during the afternoons so its nice when I need to get work done. The only reason I left four stars vs. five is because sometimes in the afternoon they seem a little stressed when more guests come than they were anticipating. However in the evenings, the two restaurants change. They become much less zen and much more lively. With mood lighting, more energetic music, and much more people, Thai Thani is an awesome place to be. My roommate's sister visits once a year and everytime she comes down she wants to have a meal at Thai Thani. I plan to eat here when I know I will be around the Channelside area. It's one of the best places to eat in downtown Tampa.

Our Marriott hotel didn't fare well in food restaurants so we ventured out eveey day. This Thai restaurant has friendly staff and service. The food surpassed our expectations. The appetizer sampler was a great surprise, it was plentiful, delicious and the best of our 3 dishes. The chicken pineapple fried. rice was delicious. The pad thai noodle with shrimp was good. We ordered the cherry blossom roll from next door's Oishi sushi to go since they are connected. The ambiance was very ethnic and comfortable.

Ordered pad Thai- it was by the far the worst pad Thai I have ever had. Servers were friendly. Easy to get reservations at for large parties. Don't order off the menu. If they could charge money for WATER refills, they probably would. I won't be going there again anytime soon.

Super nice waiter, tends to every needs we had and constantly coming by to check if we were okay or needed anything. I believe his name was Dave, but Sorry if I got it wrong. The restuarant layout was a bit strange, it was a large commerical space that was split right in the middle with a Japanese restaurant, and to my amazed you were able to order items from the Japanese menu. Its also suprised me that both sides/restaurants had their own sets of waiters/waitress. The Lad Na was delicious! The waiter was able to find out from the kitchen that their flat noodles were made in house. It was so think and silky, unlike other thai restaurants where it was thick and felt heavy. But here it was perfect. It wasnt too salty and it wasnt bland, it was actually just right. Good portion size and the presentation made it mouth watering. Sadly, this restaurant isnt a place I can just walk down the block but on the other side of the coast, they should bring their thai expertise and cooking to the west coast, I'm sure would be there as a regular guest.

Decent thai food for its touristy location. The restaurant is BEAUTIFUL inside. I felt like I was swept away to Thailand for dinner. We were the only one's in the restaurant, but I blame it on the fact that we got there once they opened. I'm curious to see what kind of business they usually get. However, that didn't take away from the meal. Appetizers of spring rolls and crab rangoons were good. Not the best I've ever had, but good. For my entree, I got Pad Thai with tofu and vegetables. I thought it was really good. A lot of fresh veggies and the sauce was good. Couldn't ask for anything more. The service was great (more than likely because we were the only 2 people in the place). But, like I said, I was fine with that because it was peaceful after spending a crazy few hours at the Florida Aquarium.

Me and a friend came for some Thai cravings. That said let's get onto the food. I ordered duck served in a broth with noodles (forgot the name of the dish). The duck was not prepare to my liking though I will add the broth was flavorful and the soba noodles were cooked nicely. Overall the dish just didn't cohesively come together. The Thai tea was not the best I've had and Thai tea is a favorite of mine. Service was a little slow and keep in mind it was rainy outside and I think a total of three tables were seated in the restaurant. I really cannot find anything about the restaurant to recommend. I have it two stars because I forgot my chip for the parking garage and they were nice enough to keep it waiting for me at the host stand.

Thai Thani has really gone downhill over the years. My last Chicken Pad Thai there was completely dry and flavorless. I like the waiters and bartenders there, but my experience with their dishes has not been great in quite some time.

I wasn't sure what to expect here, but I was kind of disappointed. Service was fine, atmosphere was fine, but the food was mediocre. I ordered a curry dish that had chicken and some other stuff in it (I kind of laughed with my friend thinking it would be really good because it was a semi-random mix or it would be really bad because flavors wouldn't match well). Needless to say, the flavor was lacking. Really lacking. And it kind of creeped me out that even on a fairly busy weekend afternoon, it only took 5 minutes to put together our two dishes. It almost felt like it was pre-made and microwaved before serving. If I wanted a fast food feeling, I would have gone that route instead of stopping at what looked like a decent Thai restaurant. One more mediocre place scratched off my list!

Had a quick lunch here with my parents who happened to be vacationing with us in Tampa this week. We checked this place out since it was close to their hotel. It was 1130 am on a wednesday so there weren't a lot of places open for business yet. We were seated momentarily after walking in, and were served by a gentleman who looked like he was in training. He spoke rather quietly, and even though we were only one table of 5 that were seated, he found it hard to either speak up or loosen up. I hope he gets better since he would have a hard time during busy hours with a fair amount of humdrum. The Thai thani stuffed chicken wings looked really good so we had an order of that along with the traditional summer rolls as appetizers. They had no Thai iced coffee to my dismay, so I had the regular hot coffee. Everyone else had iced water on this hot Tampa noon. After placing an order for lunch servings of Pad Thai, chicken and mushrooms and rice, and sour seafood soup (my parents wanted to try it), we received a complimentary helping of salad. It was a bit weird because it was the same cheap salad you normally get at a sushi joint; cheap iceberg lettuce and lifeless shredded carrots with a slathering of what looked to be Ginger-carrot-citrus dressing. I didn't eat mine, since it didn't look as appetizing as I was hoping it would be. Besides, I'm not a salad guy. I waited patiently. The stuffed wings arrived shortly and they were perfectly crisp on the outside. The stuffing inside consisted of mushrooms, vermicelli and chicken meat in a nice flavored combo. I tried the pad Thai next. I'm no expert at pad thai but the noodles looked like they were soaked in dark soy sauce. I say soaked because the noodles didn't have the "spring" of freshly cooked noodles. The noodles were either cooked too long or was cooked with too much liquid. The taste was rather bland, it didn't have the balance of other pad Thai dishes I've had (needed more tart- vinegar or tamarind perhaps?). I also noticed the lack of paprika and eggs in the dish. I may sound hypercritical but my girl is Thai, so my expectations are pretty high especially when her grandmother makes delicious home dishes. I moved on to the chicken and mushrooms dish, but it reminded me of Chinese food- I had some jasmine rice with it. It was just ok, it had no character to it and I can't remember for the life of me what the rest of the ingredients were. Bottom line- I was expecting better execution to their dishes to match their interior decor. I believe that a place needs to match their decor with their service. When I walked in, I felt good, my eyes liked what they saw; but even though I did leave full, my experience was not satiated- a bit dissapointing considering the cruise ships unload nearby. I still give it an "ok" 3 since I don't think it's fair to compare commercial food to a home cooked meal, and the server was being trained, so service suffered a bit...... He needs to train on someone sometime, and that was us.

Great prices, food was very good. Don't be afraid to try the "firehouse" level of spyciness, it's not that hot

Ambiance and service were good; the food was good, but I wasn't overwhelmed. The Tom Yum soup had a nice flavor, but the kapow chicken was rubbery, albeit in a good sauce. I'd recommend stopping here for Thai if you're in the neighborhood, but it wasn't the best Thai I've had (at least the dishes I tried).

I wish I could find a Thai restaurant in Tampa that has dinner entrees for less than $10... but I guess that's not going to happen. That said, I think that especially considering Thai Thani's location, it's very fairly priced, & it comes very close. Entrees are around $11-15 each (yes, to me there's a big difference between less than $10 & over $10, even if it's just by a couple bucks), & you get a good portion of tasty food, good service, & you eat in a beautiful setting -- the decor is absolutely beautiful, and most of the artwork you see can be purchased (which I find a little odd, but okay). We started with the spring rolls ($3.95), which naturally come with a Hoisin-style sauce (is it Hoisin sauce? I've never bothered to ask & as I write this I'm suddenly very curious. Please inform me if you know what it is!) with chopped peanuts sprinkled on top. My fiancee is allergic to nuts, so we asked the waiter for another dish of sauce without them, which he promptly brought out. Speaking of the waiter, he was amusing. Everytime he brought something out, we got either fanfare (as with my glass of white zin & sweetie's bottle of beer) or... the airplane. As in swooping arm motions & airplane swoosh sounds. We soooorta felt like little kids... & it was sorta cute. In any case he was very attentive & very nice so I'll chalk it up to trying to make the place seem casual & friendly. Our food came out quickly. I had the chicken with red curry ("Chicken cooked in coconut milk, string beans, eggplants, basil leaves, bell peppers and bamboo shoots" $10.95 -- as quoted from their website), which I loved (but I'm a sucker for red curry; I haven't yet had any that I thought wasn't delicious). One thing I found a little odd was that it was served with just one scoop of white jasmine rice on a separate plate. At most Thai restaurants I've been to, they give you a tureen of rice to self-serve; at some, they'll come by with a tureen & serve you as much as you want. Here, no tureen, & the waiter didn't say whether we could ask for more rice, so we just made do. My fiancee had the Three Taste Fish from the special menu, which at "market price" was about $30. "Fresh whole red snapper deep fried and topped with spicy chili and garlic sauce." Sweetie's entree, too, came with a single serving of rice. With all of their entrees (I believe) you can choose a spiciness level: mild, medium, hot, Thai hot (IIRC). I seem to recall reading somewhere (I thought it was on Yelp but if so the review has been taken down or edited) that their hot could stand to be hotter, so I went for the Thai hot & I'm definitely glad I did (& honestly wish it was even hotter than it was...). Sweetie usually can't handle very spicy food well, but he said if he were to order the Three Taste Fish again he would've had it medium, because by the end it was getting a bit too sweet. (I checked OpenTable's reviews to see if I had read the thing about spiciness there, but I found the opposite: one guy said that their hot can run HOTTER than elsewhere... Don't think so!) It can be either casual or dressy, so make it what you will. I wanted it to be a sort of special dinner so I dressed up a little bit & didn't feel out of place, but there were teens there in sweats, too. Overall I really liked it, & it's in a great location so I want to go back sometime on a weekend so we can check out Howl at the Moon afterwards. Note for OpenTable users: Thai Thani offers 1000-point reservations if you go during off hours!

Used a $50 restaurant coupon no problem using it. Loved the food! First time here. The won ton soup yummy! Thai salad ask for ginger dressing yummy! Then banana ice cream at end. Then wash it all down with warm fresh tea. Thanks!

Thai Thani is connected to Oishi, a fantastic sushi restaurant. My experience here was less than great. I ordered the yellow curry and asked the waiter to sub tofu for the meat in the dish. What did I get? Yellow curry with mushrooms, broccoli, and carrots. WTF? Since when does "sub tofu" mean, "please give me yellow curry with tons of vegetables I don't like?" When they brought out my dish again it was ok. Yellow curry is my go-to dish at Thai places and I'd place Thai Thani at the bottom of my list. It wasn't horrible, but if I find myself in Tampa again, this is not where I would go eat. I'd go to the other side of the restaurant and eat at Oishi instead.

One of the nicest Thai restaurants in Tampa. The Potaka soup was wonderful. Made with fresh, quality seafood. My main course was the Tiger Tear steak ordered rare. It came cooked medium-rare, but the cut was nice and the flavor, especially when dipped in the sauce (ponzu?), was wonderful.

Truly a great place for the value, awesome food, and wonderful staff, intimate, personal and comfortable.

The food is great...it just comes out at different times. My red curry was awesome! My husband's food came out a good 15 minutes after my plate like it was no big deal. No apologies, no warning. It was surprising that it was so late seeing as it was supposed to be a medium rare cook on the meat and it was definitely (very) rare. I would have sent it back, but he said the meat quality was good so it wasn't so bad. Our server was nice, the decorations were great. The restaurant was empty (7 on a Friday night...) but that's Channelside for you. If this place were anywhere else, I'd probably want to go more often. Channelside is just inconvenient since nothing else is really there any more.

Everything I tried was excellent. The phad see-ew was exactly what I've been looking for. The garlic beef was tender and flavorful. The chicken satay was tasty and generous. The egg rolls were also very good and crispy. Service was outstanding and friendly. I can't wait to come back and try more dishes.

I don't have anything bad to say about this restaurant. I ordered a chicken-cashew dish and my friend ordered the sizzling duck. We ordered 14 Hands wine with our meal. We enjoyed every bite and sip, and the service was excellent. It was quiet and the restaurant is beautifully decorated. Will return.

Interesting... there's quite a few Thai restaurants in Tampa... who knew? So Thai Thani was very yummy! I beg to differ from Bill P's review, I thought the food was quite authentic. The Tom Kah and Tom Yum soup tasted just the way I like it! We also ordered Pad See Ew and Ka Phrao, both of which tasted delicious. Overall, I thought the food was great. However, I can imagine that the cook may "Americanize" some of the dishes ... but mine were all pretty Thai tasting that night! The restaurant itself is huge... there is a Japanese side too, which I didn't try but I saw someone's sushi roll and it looked delicious! The restaurant is well decorated and beautiful. Why I didn't give this place 5 stars... first of all, parking is so expensive! I wouldn't want to go spend money at a restaurant, and spend money on parking as well... it's ridiculous! Also, beers are really expensive!

We stopped in to this restaurant for lunch and came back for dinner while at a nearby conference. The curry that I had that was had some real depth and the lunch portion of fried rice also did not disappoint. The spring rolls were also very refreshing. Not the best Thai I've ever eaten, but definitely worth a trip. A good value if you are in the area.

Comin here after bowling was a good idea. Beautiful decor which is all from Thailand..looked like an art museum. We were seated by a waitress who was making her debut that night. She was sweet but she didn't ask us what kind of meat we wanted in our Nam Sod and Cashew Veggie dishes. My friend wanted pork but got chicken. No matter, the food was fresh, just the right amount of heat and the fresh spring rolls had a nice juicy shrimp in each one.

I'm never sure about hitting up a Thai joint when traveling to other cities, especially one like Tampa which isn't known for its sizable Asian community. (After all, they do call it the redneck riviera!) But we were craving for something other that deep fried seafood and burger joints after being there for 3 days. Had seen this place when walking by the Channelside mall so decided to give it a shot. The waiter who served us was especially friendly and we ended up chatting with him for quite a while -- he even gave his the whole spiel on his life story! Needless to say, he went out of his way and we'd give the service 5+ stars. Other wait-staff also seemed very friendly. Food is standard thai fare, but also not disappointing. Sure, the spice levels (went got everything "Thai hot") were still tame for us but we realize we have tongues of steel from being brought up in Southeast Asia. Others will find the range a good guide to get what is suitable to their palates. Otherwise, the curry, thom-kha (soup), and phad (noodles) we ordered were very satisfying and portions were generous. We took leftovers to go and savored them the next day for lunch. If i'm in the Tampa area again, i'd definitely hit this place up again.

I was staying at one of the downtown hotels in Tampa and was in the mood for some Thai food. Called Thai Thani - unfortunately they dont deliver so I ordered my dinner to go. The restaurant looked pretty good but since I didnt dine in, am not sure how the service is. The food was tasty overall. Didnt have as much punch as I expected but was quite good. I will try it out again if I stay in the downtown area again.

the food is Excellent and fresh! I've been here multiple times trying all the different dishes. service was always excellent without being overbearing and the prices are just right. the restaurant is very spacious and includes a large separate bar and temple seating area. located in trendy channelside, you can park right next door for $5-10 or park across the street in the parking deck for 1/4 of that. don't forget to validate your parking

One of my favorite Thai restaurants in Tampa. Having sushi available on the menu is excellent too. Red Curry and Thai Peanut are both excellent dishes.

This was some delicious Thai! Service was excellent and attentive without being overbearing. The red curry was really, really good. My husband loved that he could also order off of the menu for the Japanese restaurant next door, so he had some sushi rolls for an appetizer. The restaurant is HUGE - and loved the traditional Thai decor (and A/C as the weather was in the 90's)! My rating: YUM!

Real crab in the ragoons! From a spoiled Thai girl, not bad and I loved the atmosphere! Try the Thai fried rice but pass on the spring rolls.

No basil in the basil chicken. I love basil, so when I tried the basil chicken I was really disappointed, also too much onion. The sauce was good and I liked to little surprise bites of Ginger. Not as good as Thai basil in Denver, but decent

My favorite thai restaurant in all of Tampa! Worth the drive down to Channelside. First found this place when I was in town for a conference a few years ago, and made sure to find it again when I relocated here. I love the panang curry and their crab rangoons are also deeee-lish!

I was skeptical at first cuz this place is in the super touristy Channelside mall filled with bars and restaurants. It's cool though, and probably what the Jacksonville Landing could be if people actually went there. Anyway, went to Thai Thani on the rec of a couple of potential coworkers and did the family style thing so we sampled a few dishes. Pad Thai was pretty darn good. Better than any place I've had in Jax I think. There were hints of fish sauce, tamarind and peanuts. Not too sweet either. The noodles were soft but not overdone and there was enough shrimp. I like mine a little spicy, but it was good. We also did the Pad See Ew, which is kinda like Chinese Chow Fun. It's a broader flat rice noodle with a soy and fish sauce stir fried with some onions and chicken. There version wasn't too oily as some can be and was pretty good. Glabella got the a shrimp dish but asked for it steamed instead of fried. It was tasty, mildy spicy and sweet. I had a chicken dish which was basically a curry, but not one of the yellow, green or red curries. I cannot recall the name but it was under one of their specialties. Again, well done, well spiced and flavorful. I also got a Thai Iced Tea but that was too sweet and didn't have any tea flavor. Overall, I was very pleasantly surprised and would go again. Still not the best Pad Thai I've ever had, but good stuff.

This place is not authentic. The spring rolls were odd and tasteless and the Pad Thai was fair at best. You can do a lot better elsewhere.

We went to Thai Thani's last week and absolutely loved it!! We order fried snapper and a clay pot. The fish was DELICIOUS! The clay pot was good too but the fish outshined it... The only reason why it didn't get 5 stars is because both dishes didn't wow me. But if I could give 4 1/2 stars, i would... the atmosphere was charming and they also had great appetizers. I'm going back in a few weeks with some friends to one of the nooks where they have the low tables and pillow... I understand what sally said about it being expensive for a thai restaurant... but for the area, it's actually not bad. If you're looking for a cheaper place, you're going to have to look closer to the university area...

I like the fact that this place is connected to Oishi, and it's pretty close to my house. Other than that, it wasn't super spectacular. The atmosphere is great, I actually like their decorum more than Oishi, especially the semi-private sitting rooms for dining. The service was prompt, and our waiter was good. The food was average. I wanted Kaprow, which if you go into any real Thai restaurant, you can get some really awesome Pad Prik Kaprow if you ask for it. Since they didn't have that, I ordered the Lard Nar. The gravy was thick and gelatinous, and the noodles were clumped together. I really wanted this place to be exceptional, but what I expect, and what I get are two wholly different things. I still find that Jasmine Thai is my favorite in Tampa.

It was OK. Typical "every Asian restaurant" decor. We were there on a weeknight and the place was pretty empty. Food was good and came extremely quickly but was a little on the greasy side. I wouldn't rush to go back, but I wouldn't avoid it either.

angel wings.. get the angel wings as an appetizer.. it's a must try item.. ever had a vietnamese mixed meat eggroll?..well it's that kind of stuffing..but inside a chicken's wing.. breaded..and deep fried..with a sweet and sour sauce.. the thai food is pretty alright.. it's not the best in tampa...and the portions aren't the biggest... but it does have a really large dinning area..with a really really beautiful decor.. .. they do have a full bar.. which is rare to see in thai restaurants.. plus now they have the sushi place connected.. so you can get sushi too.. if you want sushi..you should definitely try "sex on the moon".. it's really good.. probably the best one on the list..most expensive on the list..but i thought it was worth it.. well we usually go here to have dinner..before we start our rounds at the other places downstairs. =)

I went to a conference in Tampa in February for about a week. My friend and I didn't know where to have dinner, so we decided to check out the channel side plaza since it was close to our hotel. We decided to have Thai food. When we talked in, I really liked the decor. There were buddhas and temples and neat little things to look at while we waited for our table. We ordered chicken pad Thai, tom yum soup and chicken cashew. Everything was delicious! The next night, the group we were with wanted Thai food, so we had dinner there again. The tom yum was so delicious that we ordered it again. This time, I decided to have the pad see ew. Overall, the food was great. The service was okay (everyone at the conference bombarded the restaurant during dinner time, so it was kind of slow). But I would def. have dinner here again when I'm in Tampa.

I recently had lunch with a coworker at Thai Thani and WOW was I impressed. I ordered sushi: the Hawaiian, Sex on a Boat, and the Volcano. It was delicious! They put orange crispy things on the sex on a boat sushi and it comes out on a boat! Definitely I suggest adding the salt that starts with a "T" to your soy sauce for more flavor and order spicy mustard to dip your sushi as well! I also had green tea icecream with my fried cheesecake which I have never had before but I like green tea. This topped off my experience! You must order desert and try the green tea icecream! I really liked the atmosphere and location of this restaurant. I walked a short distance from the St Pete Times Forum. I would go here again because the price and service was very good! Everything comes out quickly. They have a huge menu and such a variety of sushi. I don't think you can go wrong ordering anything on the menu. A friend of mine ordered the rice and vegetables for $8. This restaurant beats buying a combo meal at any other fast food place. If your in the area, definitely stop by. There is also a place to sit on pillows. I feel like I'm in another country here even though I've never been outside of America.

I went here on a Friday around 3 pm with my friend who was a vegetarian. She ordered vegetable tempura among other things, but when she bit into one of the pieces of tempura, it was meat. The server argued with us that it was potato, but we both saw it and agreed it was meat. Eventually, she just said forget it, take it back. They proceeded to put this item on the bill, as well as argue again that it wasn't meat....regardless it was not eaten. The food wasn't anything to write home about, I had the hibachi lunch. Also, we wanted wine, but they did not have any, but found another bottle with less than a full glass of the same type of wine. I'm not sure how long it had been there, since she was not aware of the wine in the first place. Not worth it unless you're desperate!
