My new favorite taco place! The avocado salsa is awesome but it's got a bite!

Wow. That's all I can say. The tacos here are the bomb dot com. So tasty and packed with flavor. I tried basically all the tacos in the menu and I gotta say my favorite one was one that wasn't in the menu...the barbacoa taco. It had the perfect amount of spice and salt and texture and I just loved the way all the flavors came together. I'm not sure why the barbacoa wasn't on the menu but it was recommended by the waiter taking our order. If you want some extra spice make sure to ask for the green sauce. I was sweating from the spiciness but it tasted SO good! lol I thought the steak taco was a little toooo salty but other than that all the rest of the tacos were spot on. I also really love the small, cozy, hole in the wall atmosphere with the beautiful painting on the wall. Highly recommended if you want to try some delicious and relatively cheap tacos! :D

BEWARE!!!! I don't speak Spanish so communication with anyone in this establishment was impossible!!!! I had a certificate which was for days other than Fri, Sat, Mon being it is Thursday I tried to use but could not because the gruff man at the counter said no. He said not today. That's all I could understand. He couldn't not explain any further than that. The food was mediocre at best. The steak was completely over seasoned and the rice was mush. I would not go back, ever.

Unfortunately, I didn't have the same experience as others. The two steak tacos I had were extremely salty. I mentioned this to the young cashier who then mentioned it to the cook (who might've been 16 herself) and they tasted it and agreed with me. They ended up just charging me for the horchata, which I also didn't like as it was too grainy but I didn't complain about it. They gave me another carnitas taco which was dry, just like the other one I had. The tortillas were good though and they come out piping hot. The main reason I give them 2 stars, instead of 1, is because the cashier was very apologetic and has great customer service skills. I appreciate them trying to correct the issue but it's not a place I would return to.

Taqueria Emanuel is one of my favorite taco places in Tampa. It is a hidden gem located in a shopping plaza off of MacDill and Columbus. The restaurant is small and clean with limited seating and the place fills up quickly during meal times. Jose, his family, and the small staff are very friendly. If your Spanish skills are lacking, be aware there may be a language barrier, so be patient. The turnaround is normally quick. My favorite things to order here are the Campechanos (grilled steak, sausage, pork rinds, with pico de gallo on a handmade tortilla) and the Carne Asada Sopes (steak, refried beans, sour cream, Mexican Cheese, and lettuce.) I have had the tostadas and the quesadillas, and those were good, too. Both of their sauces are pretty spicy, with the green being the milder one. Another thing I love about this place is they have priced everything so that your total comes out an even amount with tax. Give Taqueria Emanuel a try. It is another great option from the other two busy Mexican places which are just down the road.

Yeap, 3 stars! Entree: all their tortillas are are handmade, which makes a huge difference. Tacos aren't too big ( 2 big bites or 3 medium), $2/taco. * Campechanos - taco with grilled steak, sausage, pork rinds and topped with pico de gallo. It was ok, kind of bland. The pico didn't any punch to the tacos instead made it soggy. * Carne Asada - taco with grilled pork, topped with minced cilantro and onion. My favorite, the cilantro made the flavors really pop. ** They have 2 sauces. Green and pinkish red. He careful with the red one, soo HOT! The green had a minty cilantro taste to it. Very yummy. The sauces would be good together, maybe with fries. I'll try that next time. ** They don't have too many selection on their menu. Wish they had more varieties.

This Mom & Pop homestyle food is great. He quality is good. The environment is simple and typical Old Mexico. The staff know their business and are nice. If you want some good ole Mexican food this is the place. Good food. Great price.

This is a great alternative to Acapulco if you want a clean place to eat your tacos. Located in an essentially deserted minimall, this is a place easy to overlook. The good news is there's tons of parking. The restaurant is rather sparsely decorated, but it is bright with big windows, and it feels clean. I tried three tacos: the carne asada, the carnitas, and the cochinita pibil. They all come on a corn tortilla strong enough to hold the contents without falling apart. I think the carne asada was the clear winner, although I happily and greedily ate the other two. They didn't need extra seasoning beyond the lime, although I was provided with different hot sauces that were quite tasty. They have a variety of traditional Mexican drinks, and I really liked their horchata. I think it was the first properly spiced horchata I've had in Florida. Service was fast (the place was nearly empty), and the head of the restaurant was very friendly.

Two words: Carne Asada! Wow it was really good! The meat was so well seasoned and delicious. Exactly what I'm used to and better than a lot of my frequented spots back in So Cal. This place is located in a shopping center on the sw corner of the Columbus & MacDill intersection. It is a pretty small place, but you should be able to see the sign easily. There are several tables inside and one or two outside. It is clean inside and in good order. On the day I went there were 2 ladies working there, and they were nice and helpful with my questions though they spoke limited English. That did not cause any issues. I had 2 carne asada tacos and 2 Hawaiian tacos(carne asada with mozzarella & pineapple). The latter wasn't bad either. The menu isn't huge, but there are a number of choices. For comparison, I liked the carne asada better here than any other taco spot I've been to here in Florida. I didn't see anything else though that would keep me away from Acapulco and their al pastor and huaraches. I will definitely be back here again and again for the carne asada, and will likely try something new and update this review after doing so. But the carne asada tacos alone are worth the trip here.

A great selection of Taco's, and other authentic Latin treats. A small clean, venue located in a strip mall, with just 9 two seater tables. What this place lacks in size it makes up for in taste and cost. Tacos cost just $2 and they are super tasty with a huge selection of fillings, Carnitas, Carne asada, Chorizo, Chipolte Chicken, Campechanos, Tripe. I tried the Conchinita, Carne Asada, Carnitas and Campechanos (steak, sausage and pork rinds) all were great. A very fresh crisp taste, full of flavour and just the right amount of piquant kick. I look forward to further exploring the menu. This place is truly a hidden gem if you are craving authentic Mexican Cuidine then look no further than here. As well as Tacos they also serve empanadas, fajitas, burrito, sopes and Tostadas Enjoy Yelpers

Sorta stumbled upon this place. I can only speak for the carnitas tacos as they were very tasty. I appreciate that the meat wasn't over flavored with salt and they do have a nice kick. The tortilla was warm, and crispy around the edges. Small space, not many seats available during lunch time but very clean area and staff was polite/prompt. I'll be back for sure.

Omg. Perfect. Stop looking at other mexican places and come here. Came here after bachelor party night of drinking. Between all of us we probably ordered everything on the menu. One guy was crying, another re ordered... twice. It was amazing

I ordered 5 tacos; 1 carnitas, 1 chipotle chicken, and 3 steak. The carnitas was so good I ordered 2 more while finishing up my steak tacos. They. Are. Amazing. Carnitas being my fave. Chicken my least fave. Boyfriend ordered the chicken flautas and the serving was huge! However, we both liked my tacos more. I can't wait to come back. It's a small and quaint mom and pop place.

The Tacos are okay. I think most Tampa people just have not been to a real tacqueria. Compared to other authentic tacquerias, the food is average. My tacos were way too salty and the pineapple mixed in was raw or from the core. It was very hard to chew. Service was pretty bad. They took forever to get our drinks. Warning: they don't speak english. I studied spanish for like 5 years so I can understand basics and I know my food vocab. The store itself is tiny. It is a small strip mall in West Tampa. It is clean. I would recommend the Acapulco Grocery to get your authentic taco fix.

Service is a bit slow, only one cook and one person taking orders. Small intimate place, no frills..looks like a friendly neighborhood spot for friends to come and catch-up in n the days gossip. You can eat inside or outside I'm not sure where the restroom is though . It can get smokey when they are frying foods. I ordered the tostadas t & chicken flautas (3 for 8$) and the passion fruit batidos. Tostados came out, finally..but not the flautas for my friend...she sits and waits while I eat.. My food was slightly cold and shells over cooked..still waiting for friends food..looks as if they had to call someone in w/the cooked chicken to cook the flautas. Tostados were mediocre... I've had better. Shell was over cooked and no where near flat...and meat rolled off when I ate it. Chicken was cold. Decided to just leave

I tried three tacos of Carne asada- DELICIOUS. This small little mexican shop will become my frequent stop for tacos.

Good tacos, not quite as mimd blowing as some reviews would say. Salsas very good, tacos a bit small. I'll be back to try others.

This is the new best taqueria place in town. Absolutely love it. The carne asada is wonderful, as everyone says, although we enjoy the chicken and pork tacos also. My favorite is a dish mixing eggs and chorizo that comes with refried beans and a generous side of four flour tortillas. Oh my my! Almost hate to write about this one, because it is such a great find and will be ruined once it gets crowded, but I can't eat here every day, and in deference to fellow Yelper's.... Go here and enjoy some great taco's. Outstanding.

The tacos are great. We had the Fajita Tacos, Carne Asada, Pollo Al Horno, Carnitas. All were very good, the Carnitas taco was my favorite.

This Taqueria is the real deal. Everyone here is saying that it's authentic and that it's legit, you know why? Because the people who own and run this place are Mexican; of course the food they make is going to be legit AND amazingly delicious. This place is full of choices of many different kinds of Mexican food and believe me, whichever you pick it's going to be packed, well-served and amazingly tasty, whether it is tortas, tacos, a tamal or some "agua fresca" (pick horchata, btw) you cannot go wrong. They're quick, efficient and the place and what little I could see of the kitchen were very clean, they people are friendly and all the salsas and guacamole are to die for. The price? Very dang affordable if you ask me and the portions are far from small. It's a hidden gem like everyone says, don't let the looks fool you!! The food there is definitely worth it. Try the cochinita pibil sopes and chicken flautas, they're the bomb!

Steak tacos are the way to go here. Small menu. Hole in the wall. Not the best tacos of your life, but this is Florida, taco wasteland, so you will already be accustomed to getting mediocre tacos and think these are pretty decent.

Torta is not on the menu but it is HELLA GOOD. Tacos, beans and rice, batidas drinks, quesadillas like you've never had them before, oh man I love this place! Enjoy!

Food is autentico! People are friendly, only star lost because the wait was longer than expected... Definitely going back!

Great taco place that rivals the best Wimauma has to offer. And they offer a lot of great taco joints. Cheap tacos, with a lot of variety. These are real Mexican tacos that seem as if they were plucked from the very streets of Mexico. Definitely worth a try. I will be back

Awesome, authentic Mexican food! tacos, fresh water, and much more all made by my mom Edina, originally from Veracruz, Mexico. I know these are some of the best tacos in Tampa, if not Florida!

I absolutely love little places like this one! They have amazing tacos. I tried the carne asada(steak) the carnitas(pork) and the chipotle chicken all very tasty, and full of fresh cilantro and onions all on a handmade tortilla. Also I had the Cantaloupe(melon) juice which was delicious! Not to mention everything on the menu is super cheap. Definitely coming back, and I definitely recommend everyone try this place out!

Really love this small place. I'm from Arizona and I miss the Mexican food drive thrus. I love fresh real Mexican food. I'm too lazy to make it all the time. This place is great the wonderful ladies working are sweet. I will be back regularly. Ohhh and the horchta is on point. I've had it at other places in Florida and they fuck it up. This horchta is amazing memories of home with every sip.

It is small, inexpensive, and located in a strip mall, but the quality and service are top notch. It's clean with good presentation of the food. I had five taco type dishes and all were well done. The chorizo with potatoes was the best, but I also strongly recommend the cochintia pobil. The special was mole enchiladas, which the locals kept ordering and they looked amazing.

It's been nearly 2 decades since I partook in a wet t-shirt contest in Cancun (I made it past round 1, but I feel off the stage before round 2)... What does this have to do with tacos you ask? I'm getting there. After I dusted myself off and ensured my dignity was partially intact, I began to look for my friends or my hotel. Walking along, I found a street taco vendor. That's what big boys do, they eat their troubles away. Those tacos were absolutely amazing. I forgot about my scrapes and wounded pride, and was in taco heaven. I have NEVER been able to find tacos that good ever since... until now. Seeing my fellow Yelper check in here yesterday got my belly rumbling and after reading the reviews, I decided to give it a shot. I read stuff like "the real deal." and "plucked from Mexico." I can, with no equivocation, say these tacos are the real deal and absolute bliss to eat. I had 4 tacos, 2 of which were carne asada (steak), one Cochinita Pibil (pork), and one Chipotle chicken. The young man behind the counter explained it was a slow cooked pork. It was extremely tender and fell apart as I ate. I also had a large Passion fruit drink. All that for about $10. The establishment is small, but super clean and the staff was extremely friendly. The young man and I chatted about where him and his mother who was in the kitchen were from, and that Pibil is apparently a 5000 year old stable Mayan food. After eating my 4 tacos, I was strongly compelled to go back up to the counter and order more but, as I was the only person in the place, I didn't want to look like a fatty. I think this place is going to become a weekly treat.

Wow. Really a fan of this place. I've had the sopes a couple times, and they are just amazing. The masa is crispy and smooth, not too dry, just enough to soak up the awesome cochinita pibil juices. The tortillas are handmade, I didn't ask if they were made here, or they get them locally (I will have to ask next time so I can buy some).

This place is a hidden little gem inside a pretty empty shopping plaza. The decorations are sparse and seating is limited but it is clean and the food is authentic. I had the steak tostadas and they were delicious! The tostada was lightly fried and topped with steak, lettuce, tomato and sour cream. So. Yummy. The two ladies who work behind the counter don't speak fluent English but no worries --the picture menus were perfect. I thought it was interesting that the lady took all of our orders on index cards. But then when it came time to pay for my bill, she swiped my credit card on her iPad, I selected a tip amount and signed with my finger. No paper receipt to waste. I kind of chuckled at how antiquated one process was and how high tech the other was. The food was authentic, delicious and fast. I will be back!

Yummy quick low key easy fresh food. What more can you ask?! I ordered cochinita pibl. My boyfriend had chipotle chicken. Both were great and hot sauces were deliciously hot! Highly recommend :)

Small store front family operated taqueria with made to order fantastic Mexican street food. Don't expect waitress service wine or beer but instead great tacos, sopes, tostadas etc. and a couple specials on the board. Inside seating for 20 and a couple outside tables.

Excellent, extremely fresh tacos. Try the salsa verde and carne asada tacos!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
