I love Sweet Tomatoes and can eat here everyday, ok well maybe every other day. Lol. You walk into the restaurant grab a tray and plate and fill your plate with any salad you would like. They have already prepared salads or you can make your own with there fresh cut ingredients. My favorite already prepared salad is there Wonton Chicken Happiness Salad and Joan's Broccoli Madness salad. You can make little or pile your plate high, it's up to you. After you make your delicious salad you will pay at the register. Every time I come here I always have a coupon. You can get coupons in the mail, newspaper, or sign up for "Club Veg" and get coupons sent to your email. The coupons/deals are great. You can get dinner for 2 with 2 beverages for $18.99, or just dinner no beverage for $8.99. Also, great for kids because sometimes they have a promotion where kids can eat free. They also have a "bakery" section where they have different type of breads (butter on the side), soup station with over 4 different soups, baked potatoes with toppings you can add, "Pasta" section where they have mac n cheese and other pasta dishes, desserts like frozen yogurt (you can add different toppings) fruits, and sometimes they will have brownies or chocolate lava cake. Ok thinking about Sweet Tomatoes is making me hungry.

My wife and I have been coming here about once a month over the past year. Why? I like having a large salad to start off with and having a number of choices to make that salad. I also like having choices on different types of soups. I love soup. If they ever do a stuffed pepper soup that I've had up in PA at some of the buffet places up there, I'd probably park a chair right at the soup kettle. I go there thinking that I'm going to eat something healthy tonight. I tend to stay away from the bread and pasta stuff here. When my wife and granddaughter hit the dessert bar, I go back for another bowl of soup. What other place around here in Carrollwood does this same sort of business model? The interior has always been clean. The staff cleans up the tables fairly quickly. Getting out of the parking lot at around 6-7 pm is touchy like most places on Dale Mabry but doable.

My family lives this place. Always very good food.

Decent selection and decent quality. Salads were better than soups. Ice cream is icy- not smooth and creamy.

Sure it is nice. But how big do you want your waistline to grow?? I have to avoid going there because I'll eat everything. The food isn't that great but it is classic comfort food (that makes you feel like crap after you eat it). Atmosphere very casual and swamped. I always promise to just eat the salad and that never happens! Pretty expensive too. The corn bread isn't that great anymore. Try all the soups. Pizza and pasta deliciously naughty. Ohh sweet tomatoes how I must avoid you!!!

This place is terrific! We have been here about half a dozen times over the last 3 years and the experience is always great. They vary the menu every month or so with monthly selections(Mexican themed, Italian themed, etc), and each month at least one of those dishes is really good. During their Mexican celebration month, try out their pozole with meatballs soup, it's awesome! From their everyday selections, their Wonton Happiness salad makes me very happy, indeed. I always take two servings. The food that is meant to be eaten hot(soups, pastas, brownies) is actually hot, which is great. The buffet area is always very clean throughout, and so are the restrooms. The staff is very helpful and friendly. Great job! We look forward to our next visit.

Was not impressed with this location. The interior seemed quite dated and the bars seemed a little smaller than most of the Orlando locations I frequent. Went for my favorite meal, Sunday brunch and was very disappointed to learn they didn't make the Mediterranean egg pasta that I've enjoyed at a half-dozen other Sweet Tomatoes during brunch :-( The food was good, the food was hot/warm and fresh. No complaints about the quality, but the lack of some choices I've grown accosutomed to at other Sweet Tomatoes was a let down.

Sweet Tomatoes is my wife's favorite restaurant. I go because I have no choice. It's supposed to be healthy, but like with any other restaurant, it depends on you making good choices. Let me recap the many ways I make my experience bearable. I start with the Chicken Wonton Happiness salad. It makes me very happy. And at 5 Weight Watchers points PER CUP, I start off the buffet line with 20 points on my plate (a cup of salad is not a lot of salad). I put some yummy garlic dressing on top, some crispy noodles, and I exit the salad bar with 30 points, at least. Mind you I only get 40 points for the whole day! And after you exit the salad bar is when you REALLY get into trouble. Between the garlic focaccia bread warm off the oven, the pizza, the macaroni and cheese, the muffins, the dessert of the month, the ice cream... I mean, come on! I'm lucky if I walk away with less than 100 points in my belly, or essentially 2 1/2 days worth of calories in one sitting. Oh, the horror! I love fishing for chicken from the chicken soup bowl to make my chicken wonton salad happier. They also have sugar free mousse in either chocolate or strawberry, but really, who cares about sugar free at this point? If the dessert of the month doesn't catch my fancy, I can always grab a soup bowl, lay down a freshly baked brownie, and fill it up with ice cream, hot fudge, and sprinkles. I kid you not. Needless to say I seldom go anymore, but I ocassionally have to make a sacrifice and endure this culinary torture just to keep the wife happy. And I'll do anything for my darling wife. :)

For a buffet, id say its pretty good. For $10 it's all you can eat soup, salads, deserts and drinks.

Gourmet food? No. Good soups and fresh salads that you can add your own fixings? You betcha! You can eat here cheaply and fairly healthy if you don't load up on dressing and breads. Good place for vegetarians as they label which foods are vegetarian and always have great selections of soups such as tomato basil, old fashion vegetarian and minnestrone.

Great Buffet. Love coming here to eat since there's all kinds of veggies. I wish that they got more local and organic produce though. I would love them to build a new store in Wesley Chapel.

When you think of a buffet you usually think of unappetizing, heat lamped, gelatinous (lots of jell-o) gunk, pretend potatoes and.... cattle grazing. Well, Sweet Tomatoes is an entirely different animal, my friends. And THANK GOD for that. My aunt lives sort of nearby down in Flo-Rida. When we visit, we always make a lunch stop here. They offer many different salads and several soups -- my favorite part. They're always very fresh and you won't find anything brown that's been siting around all day (like you would at other buffet restaurants that shall remane nameless). You know, now that I think of it, I don't believe I've ever seen jell-o here (I have a serious jell-o phobia -- that shits scary, dude!) I wish Cleveland had Sweet Tomatoes!

I use to go there all the time for lunch however I've stopped going over the last year. Every time I've gone in for lunch I have to sift through all of the plates to find one that's clean. There was one day that I pulled a fork out and there was actually a large chunk of caked on lettuce or something, which I handed back to the employee standing there. How could you not see that when filling the silverware? The food tends to be all dried out and gross, re-heated from the day before. I'm not sure I could ever eat there again for the sheer cleanliness factor. After what I have seen, who knows what's lurking around there that I haven't seen. Oh and if you do go there, don't sit at a table near the restrooms. It's really bad when you can smell them from where you're sitting.

Losing 212 pounds was not easy, especially when you love to go out to eat!! Sweet Tomatoes gave me all the control to still be able to go out with the family AND stay on my healthy diet! Sure, they have plenty of unhealthy options, but if you PLAN and stick with your plan then you can totally have a great meal, feel in control, and leave feeling very satisfied. We usually go to Sweet Tomatoes on Dale Marby twice a month. Today when we went I noticed that they had updated their tables and chairs! That was a welcome surprise! They always have great coupons in the paper and/or online, and our family of 5 can eat for under $30.00. Great food at a great price!!

So let's just start with the fact that Sweet Tomatoes has the freshest and most current produce of any of the restaurants I've been to in a long time. Not only do they have fresh and current produce that is seasonal, they give a military discount when you show your ID. The salads are green, the pastas are fresh and the breads always hot. Being a vegan, it's really hard to find good places to eat out, so when I found Sweet Tomatoes I found my own little secret vegan heaven. Instead of ordering a soft drink, which is full of calories in sugar, I always opt for the "water cup." Why do you think I am so excited about the water cup? Other than it's free, I use the water cup and use the "soda water" along with putting the fresh fruit from the dessert bar inside the soda water to make my own sparkling natural fruit spritzer. How much better can it get for vegan then a fresh free sparkling water spritzer with fresh fruit? So whether you're trying to get healthy or you're a vegan and want to find a great place to eat - Sweet Tomatoes is the place to be.

A classic example of doing one thing really well... Sweet Tomatoes is best-known as the all-you-can-eat salad bar place with house-made soups, salads, pastas, breads, and dessert items. You build-your-own plate with whatever you like, as much as you want, and as many times as it takes. It's tough to argue with their formula for success.

Salad bar was fresh but i can't say the lettuce was. I am also disappointed they no longer offer a side of chicken or steak for your salad. really bummed about that!

  • Luke T.

Holy moly, who knew you could gorge yourself on salad!?! Some great new friends from Tampa brought me here, and it did not disappoint. There's even good soup and bread, like focaccia. You can build your own salad, but they also have some good pre-mixed ones. The desserts were kind of "meh", but everything else was pretty awesome. I prefer local places, but as far as chains, all you can eat buffets, and salads go, this was on point.

This place is good if you want all you can eat salad. Their Mac and cheese is really. I prefer the one south dale mabry.

Used to love this place in Carrollwood when Chris was the manager. The food and choices were plentiful, tasty and fresh, and the dining room was constantly being monitored for used dishes. We went there a week ago and it was NOT the same:( Our dishes piled up as no one ever came to remove them. The premade salads had very little of the mixins; so little that the won-ton chicken salad had NO chicken! The soups were nothing but liquid and pasta needed to be made. The food tasted like it had not been seasoned at all. Even the dessert "somores" was dry and not tasty. The pizza was bland and my husband thought the dough was spoiled. For the cost, I can't go to this one anymore. Guess next time we'll try the Sweet Tomatoes further south on Dale Mabry by 275.

My wife and I tried Sweet Tomatoes today for lunch. We signed up through the website for a mailer which sends out a buy one entree get a second one free. That did apply for us to both get the buffet (which is normally ~ $9.25 without a drink). So, we both got all the salad, soup, bread, and dessert for about $14 which is definitely reasonable. As we would see, I don't think it's something we would want to pay $25 for in the future. As far as the food, it was about what you would expect from this type of restaurant. The salads were OK, but nothing special. The soups were the same. I sampled a lot of them, actually. Their chilli was my least favorite. It was watery and didn't have much flavor. The spicy sausage and pasta soup was ok but also watery. Their broccoli and cheese was meh. The clam chowder was OK. Drinks were about 8 selections of fountain coke products along with tubs of lemonade, strawberry lemonade, and tea. They had a soft serve ice cream machine with a couple toppings you could put on it. Overall, for $14 you can get all the salad and soup you can eat which isn't bad. There are different options to eat so if you are going to stuff yourself, which we typically do, it's not bad and probably a bit healthier than your typical buffet. It's not a bad place to eat and we probably will return, we just were not wowed by anything. They also offer a carry out option which is about $6.50 if you are on the run.

Food is fresh and location is clean. Try and go on an off hour so you don't have to deal with rude social trash. The customers here always ruin my experience.

I visited Sweet Tomaotes Friday evening and was pleasantly surprised at the variety of foods and drinks that they offer. You come in the door and can start loading your plate with various pre-made salads such as potato salad or Greek salad with feta cheese. You can also build your own from the many, many options the salad bar has to offer. All the components I selected were fresh and well-presented. (I had checked the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation before I came, and felt the restaurant had received good inspection ratings. I don't go to a restaurant until I check this out first.) There was a bakery area with cornbread, rolls, multigrain bread and focaccia breads. The garlic-cheese focaccia was to die for! There were several soups to choose from, including vegan, vegetarian and meat choices. The tomato basil was as tasty as any I have had in other restaurants. They also offer two pasta dishes including some very good macaroni and cheese like you remember from your childhood, made with American cheese. The lemonade was especially good as was the pineapple upside-down cake. All in all, for the price, Sweet Tomatoes is a healthy and tasty bargain with something for everyone. Sweet Tomaotes was clean-looking and food seemed to be updated regularly. If you join Sweet Tomatoes affinity group, they will e-mail you coupons every couple of weeks.

This is nothing more than the Golden Corral of "salad" items, any "Yelper" would avoid any sort of pedestrian chain restaurant like this. Makes you wonder about the people who have rated it so highly!

Whoa, this place really sets a standard for quality. Plus, you should call and find out on which days they offer the all you can eat salad special for only $5 -- at least for the Brandon restaurant, I understand that it runs during lunchtime from Monday to Wednesdays. It's ironic that nowadays a combo at a burger joint will cost you approximately the same amount the regular deal at Sweet Tomatoes will cost you ($9 + tax) and you stuff yourself with delicious signature salads that you can top with all sorts of veggie condiments, a variety of soups, and fresh baked breads (I was delightfully surprised by their new Quattro Formaggio Focaccia - it's a bread with four cheeses melted over a superb red sauce). I cannot end this w/o mentioning that I laid their DEELISHUZ cornbread (that has little corn bits in it) over a bed of granola and caramel sauce and topped it with their excellent french vanilla soft ice cream/yogurt.

Very good. Odd setup- you go in, put some salad on your plate (beware of the "premium salad toppers" which are an extra charge) on the way to the cash register where you select your drink, pay, then are admitted into the area where the real goodies are: soups, baked goods, and dessert. You can go back as many times as you like and although this is termed a "salad buffet," for my money the soups are the real draw here: The 2 times I went they had some of the best cream of mushroom soup, lentil soup, and chili I've had. A little buttered cornbread and salad and a few helpings of soup makes a great meal. Interestingly a small booklet is available which has the nutrition facts for all their foods and in it were listed literally dozens of soups, though they have only 5 or 6 out on any given day. So apparently they rotate them frequently- all the more reason to go back. Cute tomato theme (I guess) which carries from the window etchings to the carpet to little happy tomato dolls available for purchase by the cash register; although to forestall any potential confusion, there is no particular emphasis on tomatoes in the cuisine. ;P The staff was adequate, tables and bathrooms were clean, atmosphere was pleasant and good for conversation (no loud music- amazing.)

Let me first say, I am not one to go to buffets simply because of the "germ factors" no I am not a germiphobe but I do like to be overly cautious when it comes to my food. Too many hands in the pot for my taste. But Sweet Tomatoes is very clean and not to many kids go (you know what I am talking about) :/ This place rocks. It has the freshest veggies and the the soups are terriffic. What I like the most is the bread and mac and cheese I KNOW at a salad shack. The multi grain bread (baked in the store) is the best and they offer your choice of margarine, whipped butter or butter to top it with. There are other baked goods offered like muffins, bread sticks and white bread along with a few other items. They also have a couple of different pastas to try..... THE MAC & CHEESE it as good as, it as close to my moms as you can get. Okay now about the salad sector there is a great selection of toppings and dressings to try may I suggest the homemade creamy garlic dressing very very good. What can you say about the salad other then it is fresh and plentiful. Dessert part is small but it is a healthy choice place there are fruits and jello then there is the frozen yogurt machine with caramel or chocolate topping. I love this place a great salad, bread some mac & cheese.... then top it off with frozen yogurt. A great meal But dont believe me try it for yourself..... bet if you are a salad fan "you-all" will be back.

Soup and salad buffet (known as Souplantation on the West Coast). Also serves muffins and other pastries, potatoes, pastas, etc. The salad buffet is quite tasty (I love the WonTon Chicken Happiness, which is basically an Asian chicken salad but they also have a ton of options to make your own salad). Good variety of soups (chicken noodle, chili, clam chowder are staples, and there are also soups that change every few weeks), pasta (usually have a tomato-based pasta, mac n' cheese, and then a pasta flavor that changes), pastries, potatoes, and desserts. I really like the food (not gourmet, but solid). It's a better deal if you join Club Veg or print coupons from the Internet and bring them in (I think lunch is $7 and dinner is $9 if you have a coupon; otherwise, it's up to $2 more).

I used to like this place until they changed their chicken noodle soup recipe. It's only protein option available that makes for a complete meal. The soup now has tough nasty low grade chicken and the soup also is greasy. Despite the outside appearance of this place, it's actually not as healthy as you may think. If you're trying to eat healthy, I would recommend skipping this place otherwise you'll pack on some major pounds eating all those carbs.

I have been to Sweet Tomatoes on And off over the yrars. Last night was a rainy, dreary evening & the place was packed with lines everywhere. The salad bar has a few pre-made salads and an endless array of a few virgin greens with almost topping you can imagine. I made a big romaine salad, with green pepperd, sliced oniond, cucumber, tomatoes, a bit of shredded cheese, fresh mushrooms, hard boiled eggs, corn & black bean salsa, red beans, land a fat free honey mustard dressing. They had 5-6 breads of various assortment, 3-4 hot pasta dishes, white & sweet potatoes with accompaniments seperate, along with white rice. Also on the food line was 3 various pasta dishes from macaroni & cheese to 3 other pasta dishes. There were 6 - 7 soup/chili dishes & this night was specializing a ginger broth soup, that had a great depth of flavor. The tomato basil was a bit too heavy and the New England Clam Chowder, was a bit too much, potatoes cut french fry style, quite odd. The hot apple cobbler with oatmeal crust and topping, it was warm, had a very tast & crunch oat top & bottom & I believe it was sweetened with agave, it was totally the bomb! Apples were still distinct and had great flavor, the oats gave a healthy balance and the dish was not very sweet, it was great! Okay, let's recap: the salad is what you make it, all products on the line are fresh and crisp. The potatoes, various breads and hot pasta are perfect for many people and their children. Did I mention, this place was packed, like to the max& there were plenty of childten? The hot soups & chili are quite unique. I tried 3 & loved 1, so I am just going to use that as a measurement from what I heard & saw. There is a seperate drink station with sodas, juices, milk , & a few other options. Last, but certainly not least is a soft serve ice cream station that has warm sauces and assorted topping. I know I don't believe it myself, but I was too.full.for ice cream. No, zip. I am not sick!!! The salad bar is quite tasty & totally through. The potatoes with full toppings: average, pasta: average, bread products average, soups: ranged from great to mediocre, deserts & ice cream, the apple cobbler was exceptionally good. Since there are so many children & adults that like that they serve 2% milk. Overall a filling and nutritious meal. Looking at everything, including the soda machine, breads, pastas, potato toppings, soups & saladas, it certain is a vegetarian delight. It certainally id not low calorie, unless you really watch what you eat. If you watch your intake it can bge a low calorie meal, if you don't, you might just as well a get a pizza with the works and double cheese. I must mention there are coupons everywhere for this restaurant, so never pay full price. All in all a great value for your dollar. This Sweet Tomatoes is located on N. Dale Mabry Hwy. Just South of Erich road, on the East side of the road. It is in a strip center with ABC & AAA. A very interesting evening out & about. What's a girl to do? Sometimes you just want a salad & sometimes you just want it your way.

I'm not all that into vegetarian food, salads and all that, but I went here with a friend who is a vegetarian. I think the best thing about this place are the soups. Love the broccoli & cheese soup! Fantastic. Everything else is so-so but I think that may just be me, since I am a meat eater. My friend almost lives at this place!

Sweet Tomatoes by far is one of the best restaurants that I have been to. this eating joint boasts of a huge variety of salads. The pasta and bread sections do not offer much variety though. For $10 , you can never go wrong. While the restaurant is known for vegetarian salads, I did come across a Turkey salad lol The layout of the restaurant is pleasant. There are beautiful flowers especially at the entrance . The restrooms are clean; although I would suggest that the restaurant puts a blow dryer instead of paper napkins. In a nutshell, Sweet Tomatoes is a healthy eating joint.

    (4)
  • Irene F.

My hubby is all about this place. Being a meat eater- I like to have some on my salads. Nope. No ham. No chicken. Not even egg was available. Ok so then I get to the hot foods, and again, no meat to be seen. Is this a vegetarian joint?? I just don't get the draw. It's not for me. I won't be back.

Back down to two stars, and after this last visit, I'll drive to the one in South Tampa from now on. Arrived at 12:30 and both sides were lined up and only one person was working both registers. It took a VERY long time to get from about the middle of the salad bar to cashier. And once again, there were soups that needed to be refilled and the same macaroni and cheese as the pasta choice. The premixed salads were very under dressed to the point where the wonton chicken was pretty much plain salad. The new couscous dish was fantastic, but that was all that was memorable about this visit.

This used to be a regular place for us, but not as often now. We still love this place and will continue to come here often. They always have a good variety of soups and salads and other surprises each month. It's not at the top of my list, but certainly not at the bottom. I love salads and wasn't allowed to eat them for quite some time until recently. I'm sure glad I'm able to again, so I can continue to come here and enjoy the food.
