Great movie experience. Greeted and door opened for us from parking garage entranced. Seats were comfortable. Just opened so still has that newness feel. Brought out wrong margarita for the wife, no complaints from us. Watching previews Few mins later, manager guy comes up and asks her hows the margarita? She says its actually the wrong one. He says I know and I'm sorry and your strawberry one is coming right up. And don't worry about that one its on us. Wow!! Do sit towards the back for comfortable neck experience. Greeted with smiles throughout. Very impressed. Hope it survives being university mall and all.

Overall it was a good experience. I was able to get 50% off the tickets through RetailMeNot. The food was a decent price, although the food itself wasn't amazing. The only complaint would be the chairs are uncomfortable and the trays for your food are at an angle, so the plates and drinks shift around.

My husband and I have been back at least once a week since they opened, and at various times. Our experiences have been always warm, friendly and courteous. We are so pleased with their menu, that we try to order something new at each visit. It is always tasty and delicious. Food price is comparable and not over-priced. We totally enjoy going to SMG, and will continue to support and recommend to our family and friends to do the same. Keep up the great service SMG. The rest of Tampa will appreciate you more!

I have to say we had very high hopes for this place and was excited to embark upon the venture of getting to eat and drink while we watched a movie. The theater itself is nice and clean, but the service was very poor. The manager did try to make it right by giving us tickets to come back again and reversing the food we order that wasn't delivered for almost two hours and we had to repeatedly inquire on our order. I understand mistakes happen but the ball was really dropped when we had to ask three different people about our order, and then wait another half hour for food. The final straw was at the end of the night when the check was brought to us, a new server came along and collected everyone's credit cards and slips- I remember thinking to myself... How is he going to keep them straight? The movie ended and we were shocked at the ending and even hung out for a few minutes to watch the ending g credits. We got up and left with the crowd and when I got in the car and began to drive off I realized the server never came back with our credit card! I had to turn around and go all the way back and then he tried to tell me he just missed us! We were halfway through the ending credits when we left and everyone around us got up and had left already.... I think the concept is good- but the service really needs to be stepped up.

Giving Studio Movie Grill one star, is giving it TOO MANY. Ticket prices are $10 which is about $1 higher than any normal theater. There are fewer seats in each theater room and at first glance you might think it's nice not having as many people in your movie. However, as soon as service starts and the movie actually begins, it's overwhelming. I went with a group of 3 people and we all missed key parts during the movie due to service interrupting us or walking in front of us. The servers have to bend down low to try and avoid distracting guests with the line of sight to the screen. One server ended up knocking over one of our drinks during this and thus caused a clean up scene. Well prior to the halfway point of our movie, we were bothered more than 4 seperate times to pay out our tab which was most distracting as well and caused missing more key parts. I don't know why everyone posting about the food says it's not overpriced because we felt it definately is. The pizza for example is $10 and it's extremely greasy and near cardboard. It wasn't horrible but the other 2 people in my party didn't like it. For $9 you get about 25 fries that make up a "Cheese Fry". I am a extreme electronics nut and when it comes to audio and picture qualities, I expect the best, thus, the audio in the theaters is extremely too loud, the bass carries from one theater room to the next which was also distracting. Save yourself the experience and just attend dinner at an actual resturant and visit a normal theater. Studio Movie Grill should have experience theaters that are successful at ideas like this such as Alamo and others. We will NEVER attend this theater again.

I wanted to go see the movie Sex Ed that was filmed here in Tampa. It was only playing at one theater and this was it. I had earlier seen that Groupon was selling tickets for $6 each that would normally be $9 according to Groupon. So I bought two tickets and headed to the show. I had never been to the theater that was there before, so I had nothing to compare it to. It is located at the back side of the mall. It's known as not the safest area in town. I did see two mall security guards driving around outside. There were also three Hillsborough County deputies hanging around the lobby area. So I'm not sure if that is really a good thing or not, but hopefully it keeps trouble away. Parking on the ground floor probably isn't the best idea. There's no clear entrance to the theater. I had to walk inside the mall and through to the second floor. It might be an easier alternative to park on the second floor and come in through there. Once you get inside you walk through a bar and lounge area. There didn't seem to be many people except for the three deputies. After that you come to the ticket area. Seems to go fairly quickly. After purchasing your tickets they show you the layout of the theater of your movie. Just like on an airplane you, you get to select any open seats. I was hesitant about assigned seats but it seemed to work very well. Once your tickets are printed you continue to a hostess stand. They check your tickets, give you a menu, and show you to the correct room. The individual rooms are surprisingly small. There were around 50 seats in the room that I was in. The seats were very clean and fairly comfortable. They did not recline as the information provided by groupon claimed. The food trays were big enough but don't pull close enough for me. It makes you have to sit at the front of the seat to eat comfortably. The food itself was a problem for me. There is a current special for an appetizer and two entrees for $25. It sounds really good, but you are limited on what you can actually order. We settled for the cheese fries, California burger, and chicken tenders. We also had several attempts to order a bucket of beer. They don't carry any local beer, only the big names from Miller-Coors and Budweiser and a few others. They were out of Bud Light, Blue Moon, Guiness, and one other that I can't remember at the moment. When the food started to come out the appetizer never showed. The cheese fries are only a half order if you buy it in this special. That wasn't advertised. The burger was very small, maybe 5-6 ounces. It was more the size of a slider than an actual burger. It did taste very well though. The chicken tenders were the standard that you would get anywhere else, but I had no complaints about that. We were never checked on again during the movie, so we had no time to as about the appetizer. That could be from prior complaints about interrupting the movie. The only thing I could say about the movie is that the sound is way too loud. You can hear the other movies through the walls. The signs on the outside sounds like it was going to rattle off of the building. After the movie, the server finally came by to ask if we were ready to pay. We told her about missing part of out order. So the manager took $4 off of the bill. So that meant that instead of our $52 bill, it was only $48, I thought more should have been done, but I didn't press the issue. In my opinion there are definitely a few things that needs to be worked on to make this a place that I would frequent on a more regular basis. Maybe it is because of how new it is. It definitely has potential.

We went for Family Rewind to see Labyrinth. The tickets were $3 each so great value there. We parked on the second floor of the parking garage near Dillards. There is an outside entrance easily accessible from that parking garage. Or you could go through the mall entrance. I loved that I could just use the kiosk to pick up my tickets since I purchased our tickets online. The theater we were in was on the first floor so we had to take the escalator down (which was broken). We both ordered veggie burgers. They are made from scratch which is nice! However, it was a little bland. I mentioned three times that I wanted a side of mustard but never received it. Overall, the food wasn't bad but was overpriced. When the movie started the sound was awful. It was loud and screeching. They figured out the problem and started it over again. So, not a big deal. I liked that you could order throughout the movie so we ordered drink refills and coffee. I did not find the servers distracting at all. They were quick, quiet, and ducked down. Overall, we really enjoyed it and were thrilled to see Labyrinth on the big screen! We don't live on that side of town but we would definitely go back for special movie events like Family Rewind.

Went here opening weekend and was very impressed with the service and friendliness of the staff, a few weeks later things have settled down. The staff seems a bit indifferent (on par with other theater chains), the food took longer than necessary to come out (this was a non-busy weekday). Other patrons that ordered after us were served first and when the food came the expiditer couldn't find our seat. A drink refill request took 15 minutes. Overall a bit pricey but I love the concept and the food is pretty good.

Used a deal from Groupon. The idea of being able to eat/drink while seeing a movie in a theater is a great concept. When I saw the Groupon deal, I thought I definitely have to try this place. I've been to a different chain...Cinebistro. I prefer Cinebistro over Studio Movie Grill. I love the fact that the theater we were in (the specific one we were in, I'm not sure if all of them are the same) was cozy. What I didn't like was the fact that we ordered their Ghiardelli brownie with chocolate and vanilla ice cream and it never came. We also ordered drinks. When we were placing the order, the girl asked whether we want the dessert now or wait later. We said now. Our drinks came and we kept waiting for the dessert to come. I thought maybe the host thought we wanted it later. Well, the movie was almost over and we got our bill. The dessert wasn't on it, which was good. We were going to give a feedback to a manager but he/she wasn't readily available as we're told they had an incident with a host who suffered an asthma attack at that time. The guy said he'll be there in just a bit. We just left as our issue was not as important as taking care of the employee. To sum it up... This was a good Groupon deal ruined by the dessert missing in action.

Dirty. Cheap. Tiny. Awful. The bathrooms were disgusting. The food was cheap and bland. The screen was tiny and low resolution. The service was awful. Don't come here.

Considering this is located at ghetto university mall, it's actually a really nice place. I've been twice, once to see Cinderella and another time to see Avengers: Age of Ultron. Again, the location sucks, but don't let that stop you from experiencing something different. The prices are affordable compared to other theaters. They have specials on food and drinks. My sister and I got pretty buzzed off their margarita pitcher while watching Cinderella. While watching Avengers, my fiance had the dreamsicle drink and I couldn't taste any alcohol, so that one may have been a bit weak. I've never had any actual food yet, just drinks so far. :) Anyway, the servers are very attentive, but they do not get in the way of the experience. The seats are large and comfortable, so if the theater gets packed, you won't feel all squished among strangers. I really enjoyed my experience here and would go back. FYI, you do have select seating, so if you're going to a popular movie with a large group, make sure you select your seats ahead of time.

Never Again! I went to and lived near USF for 2 1/2 years so I'm familiar with the area. I thought it was great that finally someone wanted to do something nice for the area. The movie theater is very nice, modern, unique, pretty awesome actually. Staff was super awesome and friendy too. My fiance and I decided to give it a shot. Because of the crowd hanging outside we almost turned around and left, but I insisted we still try the theater out, we wish we would have turned around after our experience. Our experience included both my fiance and I using the bathroom before the movie and having shady things go on in each bathroom at the same time with groups of people just hanging out inside. We both came out saying "I seriously had an inkling that I was going to get robbed". We then enjoyed a 3 hour movie with the waiters and customers talking through the entire movie (they have service buttons on your chair that you can press when you need/want to order something, there's no cut off time - and did I mention the repeat of the waiters walking in front of our chairs to talk to a customer). Seriously, if you want an amazing movie experience, go to Villagio off N. Dale Mabry Hwy, they not only have a better crowd hanging in and outside the theater, but they also have leather chairs that recline (thats right, your feet can be up while you watch a movie, eat pizza, and drink a beer). I had hope for studio movie grill, but after tonight I'll keep your business in my prayers, what a waste of money. If university mall can somehow change the crowd that has nothing else better to do then hang out, no business will ever be successful here - I am truly sorry to say this and now be considered "one of those people" who believe it. I'm saddened by it and I wish you all the best.

server could improve big time been 2 times and got my food before drinks, cold coffee and theater is freezing, like bring gloves,, hat and a blanket! where the lack they are quick to admit and try to fix if you speak to a manager. over all they are a new business and like any new business still are working on things, but its a neat idea so i will try it a few more times

I had never been to this theater and I will never go back. The place was full of ghetto people and when we went in the servers were too busy to take ouour order. They sent us a bus boy to tell us about the specials. He had no idea of what was good, just the items that people had ordered most. He told us we could have an item that was not on the list for the 2 for 25 and when the waitress came to get our order she corrected us which made the ordering process even longer. My friend ordered a drink and they brought him a pitcher and tried charging it on our check. On top of the frustration of the order, the chicken quesadilla was disgusting. It had big pieces of red onions which were not cooked all the way. What an awful experience and having to get your check at the end to find out that it was wrong in the dark. You need to contact Hyde Park Cine Bistro and take some notes of how it is done. Oh, one more thing the surround sound rattle something on the walls and it felt like the speakers were going to fall off because something sounded loose. Needless to say, I will never go there again and I wish I could be refunded by Groupon

Why I give 4 stars? It is the perfect "me date" place. I love the concept of sitting down watching a movie for $9 or $7 depending on what time you go. Also being able to push the service button and have friendly servers take my order. I'm a movie person and I usually don't go to theaters. But when I want to get away this is the perfect place for me. The menu is all American with hints of the occasionally Italian and Tex mex. I have yet to have a complaint about the restaurant side of SMG. What do you expect?? It's still a movie theater... I wouldn't expect top notch quality. It does exceed expectations of a normal theater. This is my "me date" place. It deserve it's 4 stars!!

Recently heard about this novel concept of having a meal and seat-side service while you enjoy a movie and was pretty excited to check this out. Went to a Sunday matinee showing. Signage at the mall was sufficient for us to fairly easily locate the correct place to park to be close to the theater. The first room you enter has a beautiful seating arrangement along with a fully stocked bar, giving it a really cool vibe for a theater. We had booked online (paying a $3 "convenience" fee, which is kinda lame, I guess more relevant if you're going during a busy time when a sell-out is more likely) The seats were comfortable and the theater appeared clean without sticky floors (although the escalators going down to the bathrooms were very sticky). Each seat is padded along with padded armrests that each contain a cupholder, and there's a swing-out tray for you to enjoy your meal on. The tray is fairly tiny, but sufficient for the meals we had. There is a red button you can push for service. Our server was friendly, but he was trying too hard to joke and be likeable and kinda came off creepy, and just hung around too long. We ordered the crispy chicken tenders and a bbq bacon burger under their 2 for $25 plan (which included an appetizer, we got the pretzel bites) The pretzel bites were delicious and arrived in a timely fashion. I enjoyed an adult spiked shake (the orange dreamsicle) and you could definitely taste the alcohol (and for $8.50 you better!) and my wife had a chocolate shake. Both were delicious. I had customized my burger order with a number of items being left off, but when our food was delivered my burger was not as I had ordered and I had to send it back (didn't notice until the server had left, and it wasn't my original server, so I had to press my service button and wait for someone to return). My wifes chicken tenders were tasty, the fries were just ok. When my burger finally came back it was as ordered, and was just ok tasting, nothing special. They come around near the end of the movie to drop off your check. I had pre-authorized with my credit card so I could just sign and go at the end. But my check looked like it was too high. Upon checking it further I discovered that they had charged me for the "2nd burger" that was delivered because they had messed up on my original order. So once again I had to press the service button and wait for someone to come and take the check back to fix it. All-in-all, this is a great concept that I had high hopes for, but it just fell flat for us. Can only rate two stars as we were pretty disappointed with the overall hassle.

The movie theatre is affordable and seating is great. The overall size of the movie is good as well. They also always have tickets on groupon! The only downside is the quality of the food. When they first opened the quality was great. Everything was fresh and the pizza was great. Now it's like they don't even care. Last time I went and ordered nachos and all my chips were broken and it was very soggy at the bottom.

Studio Movie Grill offers military discounts! The tickets are affordable ranging between $6-$9 for children, adults, and seniors. They offer a good menu with appetizers and dishes, beverages, beer, wine, and mixed drinks. They have great customer service and the food was good. The seating is comparable to what you'll find in a restaurant. It was fun to eat dinner and watch a movie. For the late night movies, make sure you park near the theater entrance because the other shopping areas of the mall close at 9 pm and these parking lot areas are quite desolate.

I would give it a 5 for the experience and food but the service is hit or miss. I have been 3 times and only once was my server polite. If the managers were more visable I believe the servers more take more care to be nice. The 2 bad experiences it seemed as though I was a bother and not a paying customer.

The atmosphere is semi classy. The food is tasty. The staff is very nice, if not a little pushy for the check. They bring your check towards the end of the movie. However, its so dark, cause you're watching a movie, that you cannot see what it says. They should bring you a small light with it. I also recommend getting the pretzel bites with the queso. Eat it quick because the queso gets lumpy when it cools.

Decent food great place to see a movie but the dirtiest bathrooms in the state. If you can get past the bathrooms it's a perfect place to see a movie. Also watch where you park your car.

There are mixed reviews ranging from 1-5 stars and I read some of them. All the ones I read made sense to me; not just people getting pissy. Good constructive criticism. Luckily my first experience on a date went really well! We went on a Monday matinee so we were the only ones in the theater. The server comes out just as the movie begins playing, which was fine because there was only two of us. I read another review with a fuller theater and I can see how it could be distracting to others as well as to yourself when there's multiple orders going on a once. Also the server kept coming in and out during the movie. Which was fine to me but again that can be distracting to others. ***I would suggest servers on stand- by before the movie starts so people can get a head start on deciding and ordering instead of showing up when the movie starts. ***I would also suggest the tabs being collected at the end maybe? The food was pricey but that's expected of any movie theater. Tasted great though! We got the coconut breaded chicken with the shrimp add-on ($1 for three pieces) and the brownie sundae. Again the food was satisfying... Better than the food I had at the Villagio Dine-In theater in Carrolwood. I also got a strawberry margarita which tasted fruity with a kick to it ;) The seats do not recline so I'd recommend not sitting anywhere before Row D, but they are comfy. I'll admit the Villagio theater has more comfortable chairs that recline too, but smaller trays. The trays here were an appropriate size with metal tabs to keep your plates from sliding off. There are also call buttons on each of the trays to contact servers. Our server was nice, patient, and helpful to us as well so props to that. All the other employees we interacted with were friendly and helpful too. Also the cleanliness of the lobby, theater, and bathrooms was spotless! Very nicely decorated throughout the entire establishment. Almost makes you forget you're in the middle of University Mall!

I love this place so far. It is exactly what University Mall needed. After reading some initial bad reviews, we decided to wait for few months before trying it out, but once we did make it, we liked it so much we were back three days later! They definitely work with what they've got. The mall wasn't built for stadium seating, which is unfortunate and dated, but whatever. They make up for that with the other perks. The whole setup is expansive, modern, and well-maintained. They definitely cater to the USF/young adult crowd, but families are welcome too. There are plenty of theaters and lots of showings. We were happy to see that the horror movie I thought was no longer in theaters was still on the ticket at SMG. That's a no-brainer!! As for the food, it is moderately priced and has been pretty good. And the staff is great! They hired a LOT of people to work here and all of them are friendly and helpful. This is a great movie experience for dates or families. I only wish the rest of the mall would upgrade to this level.

This is a great movie going experience. I was shocked to find out that a fancy movie theatre with food and beverages was set to open at the University Mall. I was happy, however, to get tickets to Gone Girl at the last minute on a Saturday night. My husband and I arrived and hit the bar. I was happy that the tickets were only $9 and the drinks were reasonable. Upon entering the theatre, I was pleased with how comfortable the seats were. I would recommend sitting near the back as the screen is up very high. We ordered some food (he got a burger, I got a quesadilla) and a bottle of wine (25% off bottles of wine on Fri and Sat nights) and had a very nice time. Honestly, Cinebistro is still my favorite, however, this place is a lot more friendly to the wallet and a good spot for a movie. I shall be back!

I checked out this place recently for a movie and found it to be a great experience. I didn't get any food/drink, so this review will only focus on the movie experience. I did read over the menu, and there was a large range of affordable food and drink options as well as excellent daily specials. In terms of the theater, getting my ticket was super easy. There was a large lounge to hang out in before the movie. For the movie experience itself, the seats were super comfy and spacious. I appreciated the service request button to reach the server. They continued to serve food and drink in the dark theater but appeared very skilled at doing so. Overall, it was a good time and super affordable at $9 a ticket. I will definitely be coming back soon.

We ate before coming here to save a bit of money but I did have dessert and a glass of wine. I was very happy with the theater especially for the price you can't really get a better seat. I had the frozen hot chocolate that was good but they don't give you a spoon with it and it's super thick.....so I asked for a spoon and then it took them 20 minutes to give you a spoon and by then I was done. Also the drink was like 1/2 whipped cream.....I wanted more hot chocolate! The wine was good and I liked their drink selection. I was kind of concerned about them walking around during the movie but it really wasn't distracting or anything. All in all we will be back and we enjoyed our experience.

This is my first time here and it is great! They really cleaned up this mall area. The theaters are really comfortable and clean. And it's a fine in theatre with cheaper tickets than muvico! You'll love the way they have this place set up. They have a bar area for those of you waiting for your movie to start with full food/bar service in the theatre. What a surprise!

Overall, I've had a mix of experiences for this theater. Long story short, the tickets are super cheap (especially for students) weekday and weekend, the food is reasonably priced, yummy, and you can box anything you want to take home, and the service is okay. The theater is a step up in regards to decor and ambiance....compared to the rest of the mall haha. The easiest way to park is inside a garage which leads to a breezeway directly into the theater, which I really like. The seats are comfortable but not reclining and you don't get stadium seating, so pick a seat in the middle for the best experience. I really like how the theater has daily specials (food and drink) as well as a 2 for $25 option, which includes 1 app, 2 entrees, and a dessert, which is reasonably priced for a theater, especially with cheap tickets. My favorite special is the Sunday endless one-topping pizza for $10! you start with 2 personal pizzas and every refill is 1 personal pizza, and you can change the toppings as you go. Unfortunately, towards the middle of the movie your server will give you a bill so if you want to get the most bang for your buck you should arrive earlier. They play the trailers with the lights on so you have that time to place any last minute orders. I must say, I went to watch the premiere of Mockingjay here and I ordered a quesadilla with a drink. The quesadilla was awesome and took no time to arrive but the DRINK took about 40 minutes, and it was just a soda. So like i said, this can be hit or miss and it's unfortunate that I experienced this, but it didn't deter me from coming again.

I visited Studio Movie Grill a few times lately. The Good: The chairs are super comfortable, and there is a call button if you care for any more snacks or beverages during the flick. The staff here is also super helpful and friendly. Tickets are reasonably priced. There are daily drink specials and they offer a 2-for-$25 menu that includes two entrees and an appetizer. The Bad: The dirty, dirty bathroom and the cold, cold theater. The Ugly: It took roughly an hour an a half to receive our food on one visit. On that same visit, no one took our food bill, so post-movie we had to wander around and find someone so that we could pay. Womp womp. Most of the food was good, but the Blackened Chicken Salad was one of the worst salads I have ever (partially) eaten. The drinks and drink specials are fantastic. Here is hoping that this place works some of the kinks out, it has the possibility to be great!

Alright before the details.... Customer Service: A Cleanliness/Comfort: B Prices: B+ Food: B+ Location: C Theater Screen/Sound: D SO! My friends wanted to go see Pitch Perfect 2 opening night and smartly decided a dine-in theater would be good since you could reserve seats and it was usually more expensive. We booked our seats through Fandango and I was pleasantly surprised at the low prices (this is after I went to the Downtown Disney one a couple months ago and payed $15 JUST to go in). It was $9 on a Friday night for an adult, $7 for a student, plus of course the $1.50 convenience fee but that was still much better than the usual price. Now, having been a USF student I was familiar with the University Mall and its... dilapidated state. So I was unsure of this 6:30 pm movie happening but decided to try it out. It's best to park upstairs in the garage since it leads right to the theater which is nice and easy. I walked in and saw about 6 computers where you could pick up your ticket - lemme just say, I thought Muvico pickup was easy.... this was like... 75x faster. You select pick up, swipe your credit card, and before you even put it back in your wallet it spits out your receipt. FAST! I walk in and the ticket taker is friendly and directs me down the hall and down the escalator to theater 13. I did notice all the staff that I walked past in the halls were very friendly and telling me to enjoy my movie... a small touch but appreciated! I easily found my friends and slid into our comfy leather seats. The theater was very large and it would've been nice if the screen was a bit bigger to accommodate for how far back it went, but it worked. There was also plenty of room in between rows so when servers were scooting through it wasn't a hindrance at all... plus people couldn't really kick your seat. Would've been nice if they reclined though :) I was surprised by the menu prices - not ridiculous! $10 for a pizza, $9 for potato skins, $14-ish for some steak, pastas, ribs. I ordered a mozzarella pizza and some water. I noticed when the server was taking my order that it doesn't seem that you have the same server all night - when someone pushes the button for assistance whoever 'answers' it first comes and helps you out... that was different than previous experiences. I liked that the previews and things were happening while people were still ordering and chatting so when the lights went low it was MOVIE time! No darkness and waiting in previews which I actually enjoyed. Early on the film we realized we were near a very very loud movie. Now, when you're seeing something like Pitch Perfect and you're trying to listen to the singing and the interesting character of Lilly who only whispers, you kinda need to hear what's happening. Through the entire film it sounded like thunder and earthquake effects happening so badly that the walls in our theater were shaking and causing the lights on the sides to shake. It was incredibly distracting and annoying and I asked someone if they could fix it and he said they couldn't but hopefully would be tomorrow. Ugh. Well, at least they were aware of it. My pizza was yummy. Not amazing but good for $10 and filling! You know those little Pizza Hut stands like at Bucs games and in Target? It was definitely like 2x that size so worth the money. I appreciated that when I first placed my order the server asked if he could go ahead and swipe my card so that way when they handed out checks later all I had to do was sign and not wait for him to come back again to swipe and return my card which was nifty. Towards the end of the movie an employee did come by and hand out free passes to another movie as an apology for the sound issues so that definitely upped the customer service grade up. As we left we were again greeted and thanked by employees, offered mints on the way out (nice touch!), and retreated back to the garage which was full of other movie patrons and pleasantly much more well lit than the last time I was in this garage. I'm very excited to have such a nice theater nearby now and glad that you can completely avoid the rest of the mall and it doesn't seem to have an effect on the customers who are attending this theater. I know the mall is pretty sketch but this theater is good to go!

My wife and I went on a Sunday. I love the seats which are set up in a way that you can stretch your legs out without hitting the seat in front of you. The servers were pretty good about not being distracting during the movie but lets face it, people walking back and forth in front and in back of you is distracting to some extent no matter how ninja-ike they are. If you dont want servers milling about during your movie, go somewhere else. If you want food and drink delivered to you during the movie, this is a good place. The staff was super friendly, the food was good (not great), and the prices were reasonable. SMG can improve little things here and there, but overall this is a good place to see a movie with food and beverage service. We'll defintely be back.

I was so surprised to learn that a swanky theater was set to open in University Mall. I remember going to UM to the "old" theater decades ago. I went and saw Big Hero 6 with my husband and our 3 kids. We LOVED IT! Not only the movie, but the entire experience. We've wanted to go to Cine Bistro, but they don't allow children to watch movies at Cine Bistro, so this was a win/win for us! The volume was great! The bass was deep and you could feel it in the seats! Awesome. The menu was varied, and not too expensive compared to what you might pay at a theater for nachos! My only real issue is that the bathrooms were FAR from our theater, AND the movie was 15 minutes late in starting. For a family out on a school night that was a big deal. We loved it, and we'll be back!

This was a really fun way to spend a rainy Monday afternoon. What's not to like about watching a movie in a comfy seat with people delivering food, snacks and drinks at the push of a button? We ordered the Margarita Flatbread Pizza, Bacon Cheeseburger with fries and pretzel bites as an app, all way better than expected! Fresh and tasty... There was hardly anyone else at the theater so that may have had an impact on the experience but I think it's something a little different from your run of the mill night at the movies, go for it.

I had a good experience at this theater the food was good and not inflated like it usually is at movie theaters. Many choices to choose from. The only thing I disliked was that there wasn't stadium seating. The waiters were very attentive and ticket prices are lower compared to other theaters that have the same concept. There was a mix up with our order and pricing and they compensated by giving us a free ticket. Good customer service!

-I found a great deal on Groupon so I gave it a try. I was planning to reserve our seats online but they were charging me an extra $3.00. So we went to the theater to reserve our seats. The only available seats were near the back of the theater. -We watch

Just watched Antman with my mini-me tonight. Bought a last minute Groupon ($5 each) and opted for the 2 for $25 deal as we found it to be a win-win for eats and entertainment in one spot. Parked on the second floor of the garage and noticed a lot of college age students piling in. There were enough people around at 930 pm that I didn't feel insecure. I spotted a security call box and there are signs that you can request an escort to your vehicle. I was more worried about after the movie security than before. At leaving time, there were a lot of workers and a few teenagers waiting for rides. I saw a Security guard walking around as well. As I said, there were quite a few college age students coming to see "Straight Outta Compton" so we had a little wait. A few of the girls looked straight outta the club. I guess I am just getting older because I am not feeling the way girls dress today. All that makeup, tight jeans and cutoff shirts... I always was modest even when I rocked a killer figure. But let's just stop there... Quick and painless Groupon redemption. Pick your seats on the cashiers giant touchscreen computer. She hands you a receipt/ ticket that you take over the the attendant at the start of the theater hall. She/ He then marks it with a highlighter and points you in the right direction. The theaters are flat and narrow with the letter of the row lit up the outside chair and the seat number is on the service tray. I wish we had picked a back row. When sitting (we were in row E) you have to look up at the screen. After the movie was over, I sat in the back row (G) to wait for the end credit scenes and it is a more comfortable point of view. -1 star because there was some leftover Oreo cookie smashed onto the armrest of my chair that I cleaned up with a wet paper towel that we trekked of the the restroom to get. The restroom needed a walk through because there were napkins about the floor and a lot of water on the counters by the sinks. The first stall didn't have a working lock. They keep the light turned up while seating and during the trailers which gave me the opportunity to spot this potential wardrobe ruin ahead of time. Some of the trays as well as my own had water puddles from the previous occupants. (Reserved seating choices at the time of ticket purchase.) So I wiped them up as well. The seats are pleather so the clean up is easy- there are a lot of paid workers buzzing around that are paid to clean up between showings who didn't do so well in our row. Better attention should be paid when you are dealing with food service not just soda/ popcorn/ candy. Okay. We started with the Pretzel Bites and Queso. Not bad. *Tip: dump the pretzels onto the napkin, They are dipped in butter and salted and the butter pools up at the bottom of the bowl. There were 14 pretzel bites (my son counted) and a decent cup of queso. As a previous reviewer stated, it does get a little lumpy after it starts to cool. Mini-me opted for the BBQ Bacon Burger with fries. No onion. BBQ sauce on the side. She wasn't sure if it came with lettuce and tomato. Once we got it, they did put the sauce on the side but left on the onions. I spotted them before he dug in. It was a decent size burger and the thick fries were pretty tasty. He did say that he didn't get any bacon or that of there was, it was pretty skimpy. I had the Steak and Balsamic Flatbread. Six slices and quite a large portion. I was full afterwards. Strips of steak, onions, blue cheese on top of a cheesy flatbread. Balsamic drizzles across the entire thing, but not too much. I was satisfied. I did realize the servers didn't bring napkins, so I pressed the call button. SO handy. Glad I did because you know Balsamic glaze is a bit on the sticky side. We opted for waters and were brought two decent glasses full of ice water that lasted us through dinner and the movie. Though they do offer refills, I didn't bother because I finished my glass 3/4 through but Mini-me is a slow drinker so he didn't mind sharing his. The attendant comes through towards the end to drop off checks and pick up dishes. She also comes back to collect before the movie ends as well. A little distracting only because it is dark and I needed my phone for a light source and then had to rummage through my bag to get out cash. I missed a little dialog... that's okay because the movie was great and will definitely see it again. Overall- I'd definitely go again, though I wouldn't want to see anything with a packed theater. I'm spoiled by the giant stadium seating at AMC. I'm glad the theater wasn't full. I think the experience would be less than favorable with more people. That's just me.

The concept is good but not quite there yet. Pros: large drinks, modern feel & a lot of leg room Cons: The servers were uncaring, unorganized & some where rude. At one point the sever actually asked me to turn off my light , rudely,( the light signals them to let them no you are ready to order )while she casually chatted and took the order of girls in front of me. we got our appetizer right away but waited more than half way through the movie to receive our dinner, when we did our food was cold, when The server gave me my dinner she neglected to take away the dishes that were piled on my small table so I had to eat with them there with little room. my husband asked for a box but never got one. The people next to me came in late ordered and received there food way before us. On our way out we heard a man complain he has never received any food , I won't be returning.

Went to see the Age of Adoline Theatre was clean and spacious. We had never been there before and the staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful. I went with senior aged family members and the ticket girl offered them the senior pricing, very nice as we had not been there before and on a Friday night new release expected no discounts. We were escorted by a very nice young lady down to our movie. Next greeted by a friendly waiter who gave us menus and when we were ready, pushed the call button and he came right over. The food was good, nothing spectacular, but it's a movie theater not a 4 star restaurant lol. We did not finish or food and were given to go boxes. I will return to this theater and suggest you to check it out. Nice. Clean. Friendly staff. Pretty good food. Comfortable seating. Alcohol and food served during movie. What more do u need! ?

I have been here two times and I have not been disappointed. The food is a lot more delicious than one would expect for a movie theater. In fact, everything I have eaten and seen on other tables tastes and looks great. I love, love, love the seats, they are plush, wide, and surround your body like a friendly hug. They have weekly specials online where tickets to some select movies are five dollars which I find is an amazing deal because it gives you the chance to take advantage of the drink specials. I will agree with the complaints on how you can hear other movies through the wall if the movie you are watching is quiet, but I don't find it bothersome since I can focus on the movie and tune out unrelated noises.

Let me say up front that the theater itself is just fine. It is clean and well maintained. When we arrived and felt our tickets were too far forward, the employee at guest services quickly helped us pick new seats. Unfortunately, that's where the list of good things ends. Shortly after being seated, a server came to take our drink orders. He came back a little bit later to take our dinner order and informed us that the tea was being made and wouldn't be available for a little while. We asked for another soft drink and received it. It took another 30m before the tea was finally brought out. We thought the food order would arrive without issue. We were wrong. Though it came out fairly quickly, the entree course arrived before the appetizer. We brought this to the runner's attention. She checked the order and said that the dip order wasn't even in the system. I was further dismayed to find out that my order (coconut chicken strips plus shrimp with sweet potato fries) was incorrect. The shrimp were missing, and I received regular fries. I immediately told the server about it. About 10m later, the manager (Shawn, I believe) showed up and said they'd bring out the corrected order. He didn't offer an apology for the inconvenience. Another 20m passed before the corrected order was brought out. Since the movie had started by that time, it was difficult to see the food. I discovered quickly that the shrimp were overcooked and rubbery. The sweet potato fries had been literally coated with salt, rendering them inedible. I am boggled as to how anyone in the kitchen would let a food item like this be served to a guest. I sent the uneaten food back. Good popcorn is one of the things I look forward to when I go see a movie. The popcorn tasted stale. I could detect no evidence that there was any extra butter on it. About half way through the film, a server brought my check out. The timing was less than desirable. For one, it interrupted me. Also, it was more than just a little difficult to see the check, so I had to use my cell phone as a light to ensure that it was as it should be. Based on my experience and the experiences I've read on Yelp, it appears that there is a serious problem with the management at this theater. It seems like they either incapable of effectively managing their employees, or they are just apathetic about their jobs. The same problems are happening repeatedly, and it is clear that they are not being addressed. Something as simple as lowering the volume prior to the start of the film might help ensure that orders are received. Having the server repeat the order back would make a difference, too. Also, instead of interrupting the guest in the middle of a movie, allow for a pre-pay or run a tab. Either of those options would be preferable. Unless some major changes are made, I will take my money elsewhere. If I'm going to spend $500 on dinner, I'd at least like to enjoy it.

I'm shocked by such negative reviews. We had a wonderful experience with beyond friendly staff. My kale wonton shrimp salad I ordered was crispy and fresh. The only negative was too much dressing, so I'll ask for it on the side next time. My husbands pizza was good but nothing mind blowing. The staff were courteous and attentive without taking away from the movie. Is Cinebistro closer to us? Yes. We live in South Tampa. However for their ticket promotion (use promo code STUDIO valid til Feb 1, 2015) for $5 movies it's hard to pass up!

There are definitely pros and cons to this place. I went there for the first time, since there was a Groupon for cheaper tickets. It is really not in a good location, and I am not sure they will last long at the University Mall. That area is not the safest. We ate dinner in the lounge area, which I would not recommend. The service was extremely slow, and the food is just OK. The actual theater is pretty nice, with nice seating and an attached tray for food and drinks. There is a server who comes to take your order, and there are red call buttons on the trays for when you need something. The service is so much faster in the theater area. The screen is a bit high up, and the seats are all on the same level, not stadium type seating. The overall experience was alright. I might give it another try, since it is nice to have the option of ordering food and drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), during the movie. Expect to pay at lest $30 dollars if you get food and beverages.

I have tried on three separate occasions to have a pleasant experience at the Studio Movie Grill, but alas I now believe it to be impossible. The first time, I ordered dinner at the bar and went into my movie. Two hours later, I had not been served or even talked to. I was enjoying the movie, so I waited until after the film to speak with someone. The manager eventually came over and offered a full refund and two free passes back. That was fine, albeit a bit annoying. I was hungry after all. A week later I attempt to use one of the passes alone. That was a no go apparently, they can't use their passes without two people. They offered to let me see the movie anyway after I made a stink and then handed me the ticket back and insultingly stated that I should find a friend for next time. Just disgraceful customer service. I still had one more pass though, and I was determined to use what I was owed before the expiration. I went in with a friend this time hoping to see The Hobbit, and instead got some spiel about the passes only being good for certain movies. The passes that were given to me in good faith that these transgressions would never happen again. I ripped the passes up in front of her and took my business elsewhere, and you should do the same. For those not looking for a story, just know that the place looks fancy, and you'll pay for it. The food is overpriced, and you're expected to tip your servers since it's trying to be an eating establishment more than a movie theater. The seats are uncomfortable and there are constant distractions from waiters running around when you're trying to watch a film. I can only imagine that the people who do like going here are the same types of people who have three screens running at all times in their own homes. Do yourself a favor and go to an actual movie theater if you want to see a movie, don't go to this monument to distraction and idiocy pretending to be one.

I've only been to this place a couple of times, but both have been pretty okay. $7 movie tickets and bullrunner accessible makes it a great stop for students. The screens in the theatre are pretty small, but the service and food quality is much better than expected. They have drink and dinner specials that are as appealing as the low cost ticket.

Food is good but it's not a good place for kids .... The menu is restaurant food , I think they forgot how much ppl love simple movie theatre snacks .... A bit pricey . But it's awesome for a date night

When I think of a movie theater I should be reminded of the nostalgic sent of popcorn. This place is only a year old and the vents emit so much dust I could not breath. Dinner was inedible. We tried the Saracha chicken flat bread (barf pizza), the chicken nachos (barf nachos), and the chicken tenders that reminded me of frozen tenders from Walmart (best item I ate), We sent everything back at least the waiters were nice. Lastly, the concept of this theater is flawed. Each seat has a giant red button used throughout the movie for service. Convenient yes (maybe on an airplane) not a movie theater. Very distracting because waiters interrupt pivotal parts of the film. Ironically the waiters use cell phones to take orders and navigate the dark decpreped theater. The seats sucked too. They felt like dirty pleather coffin boxes. Terrible experience.

At first glance this is a beautiful theater however, the location is pretty "sketchy". We arrived for a 7:00pm movie and ordered 2 chicken nachos w/a bottle of Fiji water , sriracha chicken flatbread w/ice tea, & BBQ Bacon Cheddar Burger w/lemon aid, & a brownie sundae. First the ice tea & lemon aid came out then my chicken nacho came w/o the bottled water at about 7:40pm we pressed the call light & informed the server that the water was missing along w/the other food. Sadly, after another 10-15 minutes the order was still not filled. Finally, a server comes with the flatbread & burger and still no bottled water or 2nd order of nachos. I address the issue of still not having my bottled water & about 5 minutes later she comes back with a cup of water. By now I'm fed up and cancelled everything that hasn't been received. As we were leaving out the manager asked how was everything and we told him that the movie was good but the service was horrible. He apologized and said they were very short staffed and gave us free tickets to return. Needless to say, I left thirsty and I won't be back (even with free tickets). By the way, the chicken nachos are described as having grilled chicken but it was "minced" chicken if some sorts. The flatbread was tasty and my friend said that the burger was not worth the wait. Horrible service and mediocre food....so sad!

I took my brothers here to see the movie Pixel and they loved it! We actually used a groupon for the tickets too but ticket prices even without the groupon were cheaper than going to a normal theatre. It's probably because they expect you to also buy food. Speaking of food, they have a 2 for $25 deal with a shared appetizer and two entrees. My brother got the bbq cheddar burger and when he got it he described it as "tall" so the serving portion was worth. I got the steak and balsamic flatbread which was great as well. My youngest brother got the kids meal Mac n' cheese and he's usually picky when it comes to food but he loved it. The service was really good! They answered all my questions about any food containing peanuts bc my brothers have allergies and making sure they knew my youngest brother was the king of picky eaters. They made sure to not disturb us too much when serving us during the movie as well. The only main two things that I didn't like were 1) how cold it was especially since we had cold drinks and 2) how loud the volume was during the entire movie. Overall, it was a good experience for me and my younger brothers!

I went back to SMG a second time this past weekend. It was a mistake. Problems: Food service is horrible. First, messed up on my food order (not giving me the right fries). I told the waitress and she was adamant about taking my whole plate back. After a minute of back-and-forth, she took it. The plate returned 10 minutes with my same half eaten food (now colder) but with new fries. Why couldn't she just give me a new plate of fries? Ridiculous. Second, they gave my dessert to my neighbors TWICE. The first time, the neighbors ate it. I just thought that maybe they ordered the same thing at the same time. When they messed up again, I knew the dessert did not belong to them. Unbelievable. Third, we received the bill at the end of the movie and we had to wait another 15 minutes after the movie ended to get our credit card back. Also, because there was such a bottle-neck, half the other people left the theater without paying for their meal, including my neighbors. So, while I was waiting for my credit card, the manager arrives with my neighbor's bill and thought it belonged to me so he wanted me to pay for the bill. Again, after some back-and-forth, I had to show him my movie ticket to prove that I did not sit at the seats next to me and that, in fact, that receipt did not belong to me. I spoke with the general manager, Michael, afterwards. He only apologized and said to just call him next time I return. I thought this solution was insufficient. So, I wrote him an email when I returned home to tell him my dissatisfaction with the service and with his response. He wrote back and apologized and reiterated that he would "take care of everything" when I returned. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and assumed that this meant he would cover my movie and dinner next time. I apologized for my email and told him I just wanted a friendly hand-shake the next time I see him. He did not respond back which I thought was inconsiderate. I am never going to order food from this place again. I cannot emotionally handle another service failure. And the fact that they don't do anything to fix it afterwards is disappointing. In my opinion, the general manager (Michael) failed to rectify the situation. However, I will continue going to this theater b/c the benefit to me is I can reserve my seats, arrive after the previews, and leave right afterwards.

I wish that I could rate this place 0 stars. I'm interrupting my movie to write this since I can't really pay attention to it anyway. 1) they promise that the servers are trained to not distract from the movie. That is entirely false. They sorta of squat and hit your chairs as they walk by. 2) if you are planning on a timely dinner - don't. We came early to order and hopefully get our meal rather quickly. That didn't happen. We waited for over 50 minutes for our food. The reason given was a printer jam. This doesn't explain why people who ordered after us received their food well before we did. 3) customer service does not exist in this setting. No one the entire time was friendly or welcoming. The girl at the ticket booth gave me attitude because I used fandango. The ticket taker rolled her eyes that we were early and our waitress walked up and said "yes?" There was no have you ever been here before, what can I get you? I will be calling corporate and putting warnings everywhere I can. This theater is awful and should be avoided at all cost.

Is saw the Avengers at this theater a few weeks ago and I was pleasantly surprised! I ordered a hamburger and dessert and both were delicious! They have drink specials also, but I didn't order anything. The seats were super comfy and they often have Groupon deals for $5! Forget that it's at University Mall and check out a movie there! You'll enjoy it :)

This management is absolutely horrible and classless. After being over charged on my food purchase I asked to speak to a manager to have it adjusted, after explaining it to the manager Is was told my grown ass is to old to order off the kids menu and nothing would be done. I then asked him to show me where in the menu it says that there is an age limit on ordering off the kids menu, it doesn't say anywhere so all he said was you should know. I've been here several times the past couple months and never had a problem with ordering off the kids menu but the way I was treated by the manager of all people was disgusting. To treat a Paying customer like a thief when the incompetent waitress took down the wrong order is unacceptable.

Googled the movie when we decided on the way home from our son's home that we wouldn't make it on time to our local movie theater in davenport, fl. So we went to the studio movie grill, got there & had to wait out in the lounge till we able to get in, was told 2x to come back in 5 minutes & each said it wasn't ready yet. The theater was dirty, the bathroom when you walked in the men's room, my stuck to floor it so sticky, my wife said the same thing about the woman's rest room when I mentioned the floors in the men's room. We ordered the food before the movie started, the waiters electronic ordering device wouldn't work for & the battery eventually died. So he wrote it down on paper. We got the wrong appetizer, when we got the right one it came without forks or spoons pretty sloppy to eat with your fingers. I ordered the meat pizza without onions. When the food came it was during the movie, couldn't see the food but I could feel & taste the onions. I didn't bother sending it back just ate it. The movie was fine but the overall experience in the movie theater was a huge disappointment. Will not go back there again.

The food was very good compared to what UM has in the food court. We were recommended to try the Thai sauce with our food and it was very delicious. The food is great and the decor is very modern and beautiful. Why did I rate this place a three then? Well the service was absolutely terrible. Employees on their phone and eating behind the counter. The table was dirty and it takes forever to get a check. They just need to have better customer service. I'm not asking to obey every wish and command, but maintain professionalism. This place is new and worth giving a shot since their aren't many movie theaters around USF.

We saw Interstellar, and the volume was cranked up so high that we missed quite a bit of dialogue because it was drowned out by the background music. We also had to wait 15mins AFTER the movie just to get my credit card back. (They tried giving it to someone else) Food was previously frozen, sound was deafening and the service was less than "stellar" (See what I did there?)

I was given a pass to a preview of "The Theory of Everything" and it happened to be at the Studio Movie Grill, a nearly-brand-new theater that I did not know had opened at the University Mall. When I drove around the back of the mall, I was impressed at the fresh blue paint job and signage that adorned the structure above the parking area. However, it was a little difficult to determine how to get up to the entrance. A number of stairwells descended from the building to the parking area, but these are only for the rear exits inside the theaters. Eventually I found the elevator that went up to the entrance and was on my way. Even though I got to the theater much later than I expected, there were still seats available for the preview. Upon entering the theater, I was impressed with the sleek modern decor - black carpeted walls with silver and wood accents and signage. Lighting was not extremely bright, but that's actually not a bad thing when you're about to head into a dark theater to watch a movie. When I turned in my pass at the counter, I was presented a seating map of the theater on a touch screen so I could pick which open seat I wanted. I've experienced this at the Arclight in LA and the IMAX screen at the Sundial (formerly Baywalk) in St. Petersburg. It is nice to know that you have a seat and know exactly where it is, but overall, assigned seating is something I don't get enthusiastic about as far as movie theaters go. The ticket I was given at the counter was checked at an usher/host station where you are given menus and directed to your screen. All the screens at the Tampa Studio Movie Grill line one long hallway. Plenty of staff were visible throughout (though I can't imagine it will remain so well staffed after being open for several months - I've worked at enough movie theaters to know how scheduling goes). My first irritation of the night was that I went all the way down this hallway only to find out that the only restroom in the theater was all the way back down the hall and past the ticket stand you see upon entering the theater (if you use the outdoor entrance - there is also a mall entrance which leads through a lounge/dining area). It would be nice if the user/host/hostess noted the location of the restrooms before you get directed down the hallway. I was running late, so I quickly made up my mind on a food order before I was approached by the wait staff. I didn't want be ordering after the start of the film. I got my order in with just a couple minutes to spare (There were no trailers on this show, as it was a preview screening). To call a waiter or waitress, the swivel-mounted table at each seat has a matchbox-size red box with a call button. When you press the button, the box lights up (but not bright enough to be a distraction). Most unfortunately, the dramatic and emotional biopic that I was watching happened to be in the theater next door to "Interstellar." About twenty minutes into my film, a sustained rumble could be heard (and felt!) from the bass speakers next door. The vibrations were so great that the metal sconces on the walls rattled loudly. This happened four or more times over the course of the film. I've worked for General Cinema, AMC and a couple independent theaters in addition to seeing an average of 20-30 movies in a theater each year. I have NEVER heard bass leakage problems this severe. It could be felt in the floor and even the PROJECTOR was vibrating - which could clearly be noted during the closing credit roll. Also unfortunately, there was mixup in the kitchen, so when a server brought my bill to the seat about half way through the movie, I hadn't gotten my food yet. Eventually the server that took my order returned an apologized and went right to the kitchen to get my pizza. The pizza had a nice crust, very fresh toppings and a couple bites hinted at interesting flavors, though the taste was not that memorable. For the type of food being served, the prices on the menu seemed only slightly more inflated than a casual dining restaurant. The freshly prepared food seems like a good value by typical movie concession standards. The theater seats were leather, but a bit narrower than I expected and they did not recline. Compared to a typical multiplex theater, the seat width is only slightly wider. It was a little awkward to stand up after the film because of the placement of the swivel-mounted table combined with the narrowness. I have a lot of confidence the kinks in service I experienced will get worked out over time, however, I do worry that staffing will be cut as the theater moves past the "now open" novelty toward the usual sparsely-attended matinee screenings of most movie theaters.. I am more worried, however that the flashy remodeling work is hiding the lack of serious renovation to the structure, which is suspended over a parking structure instead of on solid ground. The vibration problems seem to be exacerbated by this.

First let me preface with the fact that I used to be the manager at local movie Theatres and I've never had to pay to watch a movie. I've also been to the cine bistro in Hyde park previously so my expectations were pretty high. I received tickets as a gift from one of my patients recently and she raved about her experience so I decided to finally go check out the Mockingjay Part 1. The theatre itself has a modern upscale feeling when you first walk in but that soon dwindles when you see the three lines in front of registers and people arguing who got there first. If the cashier would just focus on her line then it could have been avoided. The theatre seemed to be large. However when I decided to "check things out" it took me all of 2 minutes to see everything and I was not impressed. The theatre screens are too high and the seats were stiff and reminded me of a computer chair. The service was was not impressive. The waitress took everyone in the theatre order except for us. We did not get the opportunity to order until the movie started and took 30 minutes to get our soft drinks. Our meal came very close to the end. I was not impressed with my margarita flatbread. It was more like a thick slice of cheese accented with a few tomatoes. The chips and salsa were good and the strawberry lemonade was delightful. I guess it was an experience but for the price of the food and movie interruptions I will not be returning anytime soon. I would much rather head out to cinebistro where there are no children allowed and the food and service are higher quality.

At first, it seems like the place to be. Very modern looking building connected to the mall. From when we walked into the building we were being ushered to leave. The bartender handed us our bill twice 30 minutes before our movie was even being seated. We pressed the service button and it took 10 minutes before three servers came running. Bad attitudes and messed up orders later we got half of our drink order. Food was great but I would never go here again. The servers here are horrible. I have worked in the service industry my whole life and would never treat customers this way. Do not recommend. Go elsewhere

My boyfriend and I live in the area, and when we heard about Studio Movie Grill moving into the University Mall, we were really excited to try it out. Neither of us had been to a theater restaurant, and we were pleasantly surprised at how nice everything was. We went on a Wednesday night and saw a movie that had already been out for a couple of months, so there were only two other groups in our theater (which is just how I like it!) Thankfully we had arrived about 20 minutes early, so we had plenty of time to grab our seats and order food before the movie started. I ordered the BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger, which came very quickly (within about 10 minutes). It tasted good, but wasn't anything too exciting. All of the food I received was kind of warm, not really piping hot like you would typically expect in a restaurant. The drinks we ordered came about 10 minutes after my food arrived, so it would have been nice if it had come a little quicker. My boyfriend ordered the unlimited pizza (Wednesday night special), and he didn't get his first pizza until about 25 minutes into the movie. This was a little frustrating, since he had been hungry and I had already eaten. The theater was very comfortable, and I really appreciated the size of the theater. However, I would definitely recommend choosing seats a little further back - the screen isn't very big, and it can be a little rough on your neck if you were sitting in one of the first 4-5 rows.

Poor service, possibly prejudice. The server who tended to my family and me cared more making sure we paid our bill than actually providing good service. Our order, along with our bill, came to us pretty quickly. The server (white woman) came back to pick up the check before we were even done eating. I thought that was a bit odd but didn't think twice; I simply handed her the server book with enough money to cover her tip and asked for a refill on my drink. She took the money but never came back with my refill. I waited for a little over 5 minutes when I finally got up from my seat in the theater and went looking for her. I had to get another server to get us a refill. By this point, I had grown agitated. I finally got my drink but I asked to see the manager. He (white man) was polite and friendly but was only able to offer the standard, "I'm sorry; I will coach and develop my team, blah blah blah" line that I learned in restaurant manager training at various concepts I've worked for over the years. He never asked me which server it was or my name. So I left it at that because I knew it would go no further. I am Latino. As a former salary manager for T.G.I Friday's and Taco Bell, I know all of the racial stereotypes (especially when it comes to blacks and hispanics) that exist within the food industry: we don't tip, we're cheap, we're rude, we skip out on checks, etc. Growing up as the son of Peruvian immigrants, I've seen WASP-looking folk treat my parents badly because of their heavy accents and skin color. I know what it feels like to be treated differently from others. That's what I felt today. No one should have to feel that anywhere much less a movie theater. I won't be back. I will also dissuade every person I know from patronizing this prejudicial establishment.

Great place to watch a movie. Seats are comfortable, sound is great, well staffed both times I've been there and they're actually friendly people. Food came out tasting great and prices are reasonable for what you get. If this place doesn't do well (it was slow on a Friday night) it's because of the reputation of university mall. But it's well worth the trip. If they can keep it up this should add another good option for people looking for something to do on a night out.

Stay away! Worst theater ever! I'm surprised at the good reviews. First of all, the service is terrible. They took my order shortly after the movie and then decided to bring my Margarita when the movie was almost over! My boyfriend never got his coke or popcorn that he ordered. When I told the server the movie is almost over and I can't chug a Margarita in 10 minutes, she went on to tell me I'm not the only customer in the theater. She talked to me like dirt. I will never go back here again.

I went to this theatre for the first time last night. Overall, it was a good experience but there were some big flaws. The biggest problem was that food and drinks can VERY EASILY slide off the tray attached to the seat. The seats we sat in didn't factor in the pitch/angle of the seat making plates impossible to stay on the table. A drink completely fell off the tray table of the lady sitting next to us. She was embarrassed but it was not her fault at all. The server put it on her tray table. She should have placed it in the cup holder. I had to place a stack of napkins under my plate so it wouldn't slide off. I was nervous about it falling the whole time I was eating. Other than that, the food was good. Menu offered good assortment of food. Beer during the movie was awesome and I love the fact they don't limit the age to 21 and older. I thought drinks were expensive. I went to the bar before the movie and ordered a Stella beer and a virgin-strawberry daiquiri for my son and it was $15. They didn't even offer a discount from the usual $9 daiquiri with the alcohol in it. So, basically it was a $9 strawberry smoothie or sorts. VERY expensive. But, customer service rocked. I changed my seats right before the movie with no problem and maintenance came over to fix a very rocky table while I was there after I reported it. I would go again but hope they fix the tray table problem. I have been to the similar Cobb theatre a couple times, and it was a good experience too. This is comparable and has the opportunity to be even better with the no-age restrictions and food service throughout the movie but they MUST correct the tray table situation. Also, though, I thought it was hard to eat in the dark. One more thing--signs outside of the mall would be very helpful. I didn't really know where to park. More signs would be good. I didn't see any that read "Movie Theatre parking" but may have missed them.

Worst service, food, and experience! I could go on on all that went wrong but I will just say this: save your money and go to CineBistro in Hyde park instead! This place does not compare!

Good concept, bad execution. Friendly staff but they cant get orders right, charged twice for an item, served the wrong drink, seats were uncomfortable, screen way too high up, food was about on par with a bowling alley or a gas station, I would skip this place.

This was just a really fun thing to do. It's a great take on dinner and a movie. The seating is very comfortable and the menu much more extensive than we'd anticipated, it was hard choosing what to order and when we did everything was good. Our only complaint was it was a ridiculously long wait to get anything at a nearly empty matinee, food got cold waiting ten minutes for a side of sauce. For benefit of the doubt's sake, maybe it was just that our waitress was new. Other than that one thing the experience was a fun new twist on 'date night'. We'd do it again in a heartbeat.

Poor service. The last three times I have been there took over an hour into the movie to get a diet coke and popcorn. People were receiving their food and beverage when the credits started rolling. Never will return! I blame this on poor leadership!
