If you are looking for a diamond in the rough, Robert's might just be it. This place isn't going to win any awards for style, but it will make up for it with freshness. I knew this was my kind of place when I waited for my lunch and my elbows were sticking to the table.... This is one of the best burger places in Tampa Bay that you have never heard of.

I stopped in today for a sandwich. The lady behind the counter said the Shrimp Po-Boy was a good favorite. ... Let me tell you it wasn't worth it! $14 for a Po-Boy is way to over priced! I deffently will not be returning to this disappointment. ..

So I have passed this place for years and finally went in to give it a shot. The smell of the cooker was very nice but the inside of the "restaurant" was nothing to rave about. There are a few plastic tables and chairs...all were dirty and the floors and place in general seemed like it needed a good cleaning and some (a lot) of updating. I am big when it comes to cleanliness so I am really hoping they read reviews and work on cleaning up the place both inside and outside. I tried the BBQ pork sandwich and that was good...nice flavor from the smoker and the bun had good flavor. The glass case that stores some of the meats and sides was not that appealing as things looked dried out and old...turned me off from ordering more food. My friend I was with did say she enjoyed her meal as well so that is always good.

Live right down the road and saw the big "grouper sandwich" lettering on the window. I'm a sucker for a good fish sandwich! However, it's served with cheese on it, which made it greasy. It was mediocre at best and later made me VERY sick. My boyfriend also had the filet mignon sandwich, which he said was very "meh." We will definitely not be returning, even though it's so close. Smoke Shack is waaaay better.

Some of the best bacon I've ever eaten! This butcher shop that also provides cooked food! They also have great deals on amazingly yummy steak sandwiches with provolone cheese and bacon. The seafood lunches are well known and seasonal, but I highly recommend the filet sandwich! Close to McDill, you will see a lot of military here. The store is family owned and operated, so you feel like you patronage is helping the community. It looks a bit like a dive, but the food is so awesome, you won't notice!

OK, so just to give you a little background about me and my review...I am a fitness competitor and on a high protein diet with a lot of chicken breast. I woke up this past Saturday morning and said to myself " if I eat one more piece of baked chicken, I will go crazy and probably even stop my training." So I then said to myself, I love bbq... I wonder if there is a place that will smoke chicken breasts for me so that I will actually stick to my diet. I called Roberts Meats and the girl that answered the phone was really nice. She explained that smoked meats were healthy and talked up that smoked chicken and salmon so good that she probably could've sold me a smoked dirt sandwich too lol. She quoted me a price of $42 for 7lbs of smoked chicken breast. I said "say what!?" I will placing an order here every week! I was so excited I even shared a facebook status about my smoked meat finding. Well this is when the review goes downhill, just a little. When I came to pick up my chicken and salmon, she said that'll be $72. WTH!? Her and the manager told me $42 total with a pickup for 3:30pm. I was trying to get an explanation of the price and how it went from $5.99 a lb for smoked meat to almost $10 a lb. They weren't being very helpful and clearly didn't want to explain anything. I wanted to say a few things, walk out and leave that pan of chicken sitting there, but I didn't want to play into any stereotypes, so I smiled and paid for my meat lol. They are so lucky that when I took a bite into that chicken...it was so darn good. I said to myself while smacking on the chicken "I think Roberts and I are going to have a love hate relationship from here on out", but I am hoping I can work something out with the manager so I can refer my clients here too. Customer service needs improvement, but meat was good. 5 stars if they communicated better and ran a better business. First impressions are everything.

Was a big let down. Looked appealing from the outside with the smoker but the quality wasn't worth the wait. Got food to go but stuff was missing. Was to hungry to throw it away and get something else. Won't be coming back.

I have visited only once for a BBQ sandwich and it was an oversized bun overstuffed with meat. Very tasty meat. I should have another go and get something else and give a more well rounded review than just the sandwich I had. But based on the one sandwich, the size, the quality and price were right on!

While Roberts generally has great food, our recent experience should caution everyone thinking about placing advance orders, particularly for the holidays. More disturbing is the lack of response by ownership and management to even acknowledge their error. We called Roberts' the week before Thanksgiving to inquire as to whether they would have ribs available for the holiday. I was advised that because of the high demand we needed to place an order, which we did. We were told we didn't need to pre-pay at which time I specifically stated we would be picking them up the day before Thanksgiving on our way out-of-town, asking they be appropriately packaged for the trip and reheating instructions for Thursday. When my wife arrived for pick-up, the woman working at Roberts' advised "our order was overlooked" and that there were none available. Inexplicably, she suggested instead of getting the ribs we ordered, we could purchase a turkey. Wow. Moreover, she offered no apology and no explanation how she could have filled every single order but ours as it appeared all the order forms were attached to the respective orders. Given that we were in the process of leaving town, we were left no alternative to go elsewhere. To add insult to injury, we asked the incompetent employee to have a manager call to hopefully offer some explanation. To date, I have never received a response now two weeks later.

I am new to the area and i see this place everytime i am on my way home. I decides to try it out today so i ordered a burger and fries. Mind there was only like 4 other people ordering food behind me. Everyone got served there food except me. Thirty minutes of waiting there a guy from the back come to wherw u was sitting and tells me that everyone in the kitchen was wondering if i was going to order any food. I told them to forget the order. I dont think i will be going to that place again. If it confuses them that much that they couldn't write down a simple order. Im cool.

Tried this place out today for lunch. I had the Filet Mignon Sandwich. It was delicious and extremely filling. The place looks like a hole in the wall, but most times, those are the best places to eat. The reason I didn't give it five stars is because I would have liked more variety. In other words, my choice of bun. The bun that the sandwich comes on was not too great. Also, it would be better to offer lunch "combos" vs. offering everything "A la carte." If they do offer that, I did not see it on their menu. I ordered two sandwiches, two drinks, and two orders of fries for approximately $25. Going back to try the Grouper sandwich soon.

Some of the best ribs in Tampa. Great smoke and excellent rub. Sides are great too. Good spot for lunch, good sandwiches. Nice selection of meats in their butcher shop too. Excellent ground meat and burger patties if you want to cook at home. Their shrimp are great too.

Ok this is close to home and every day on the way to and from work I smell the smell the aroma of meat in a smoker just making my mouth water and I am so busy to get to work or home I don't stop, we'll this evening I did I pulled over after I left the fruit market nearby and got out of my car and the smoke was everywhere. This is a pleasant smoke btw! Yum I go in and fresh butchered meat galore! Fresh I said! Grouper, big steroid size shrimp, ribs steaks bacon woah! I picked half a yard bird aka chicken to take home and I was so happy I live close! Me and my boy tore that thing apart oh so juicy and they gave me. Spicy BBQ sauce and a sweet BBQ sauce for the boy! Yum! A must try! The half sampled chicken was only $6.00!!! Get outta here! Best thing is I didn't have to cook tonight except some simple sides!

Picked up a BBQ pork sandwich and a new brisket sandwich to-go. The brisket was so tough that we couldn't even eat past 2 bites. The pork was cooked ok but the meat itself was flavorless. We definitely won't go back.

We loved this place! We live right around the corner and were unsure if we should try it or not. So glad we did, I had the spicy snapper sandwich and my boyfriend had the pulled pork. Awesome! We were really impressed and kinda mad at ourselves for not trying this place sooner! Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing.

I love Robert's Meats for their jerky. Also they will smoke your fish if you have enough in pounds and it i.s cleaned. They do it at a great price and the product is delicious. No need to drive out to the beach to Ted Peters to get smoked salmon. Robert's smokes fish daily and it is perfection! One little known fact is that Robert's offers homemade beef jerky, regular and spicy. It sells out quickly so call ahead to put a bag on hold. And when I'm in the mood for a big, juicy burger, Robert's is my go-to for takeout. Cooked to order, best burgers in town! You can also pick up a quart of homemade Hungarian Goulash. Friendly staff and quality meats, chicken and fish. A real gem in South Tampa!

I have been here several times to get pre-made food as well as buying raw meat. I love their meat to grab and go and throw on the grill. I often go and see what they have before deciding what to eat for dinner. The twice baked potatoes are great, the filets are awesome. So are the pork chops. If they have some the smoked tenderloin is fantastic. You usually have to order it ahead of time but if you ask, sometimes they have extra around the holidays. The sandwiches are always good and come with fries or onion rings which are both great. The owner is pretty funny and when he is there is all about the customer service. They have another guy there by the name of Gary who is also very helpful. The ladies there, that work the counter, seem to come and go. All around I have never had a bad experience. I always buy my hamburger meat here. It's a great price and they use the meat they trim off the filets. The taste is fantastic! I can't even buy grocery store hamburger anymore, the fillers and not knowing what is in it freaks me out.

Locals love this place for meats. Robert himself is always there. Its a small place with great quality meats. For lunch I get the fillet sandwich for 6 bucks. So good. They have tons of regulars and they know most of them by name

I ate here not very long ago for lunch. It wasn't bad at all. I'd give it more stars but I'm more of a fan of Eastern NC BBQ and this is not that. The meat was good and they smoke it right out front, I just don't like all that thick BBQ sauce...but hey that's just me. Like I said still very good and worth going by. You can also buy all types of meat here to take home and cook yourself.

You can have all kind of different meats to buy and while you wait have something to eat from the delly. the service is ok not the best just ok. the atmosphere is ok if i may say so. point blank thats one of my meat place to go to.
