Yay! Red Star Rock Bar is finally open in a beautifully decorated space off of Florida Avenue in Seminole Heights. This bar has arrived to the neighborhood after such long awaited anticipation from its patrons. I had a chance to attend RSRB's soft opening last night and I am very glad I did. The bar is decorated minimally in a red Russian-like theme and is gorgeous. Less means more and you can see it throughout Red Star Rock Bar. This bar almost feels like you have stepped into an establishment located in Moscow. The space isn't too large, but it is seemingly just right. There is outdoor seating on a patio out back which was perfect for beautiful nights like last night. There are plans to have live music and there is also a great TouchTunes Jukebox available. The staff is friendly, upbeat, and you could sense their excitement for Red Star Rock Bar to finally be open. I had the chance to get to know one of the owners who stated that one of his friends had plans to install a smoker on the patio in order to prepare food. I loved the vibe of this bar and will definitely return sooner than later. Red Star Rock Bar is a welcome addition to the Seminole Heights neighborhood and I am excited for to come back and watch their future success.

Red Star Rock Bar is something that Seminole Heights desperately needed. Here is what I mean: With the array of amazing restaurants and bars in Seminole Heights, there really isn't just a regular bar where you can kick back and watch sports with some cocktails. I was so happy to see this at Red Star. The bar is rectangular shaped on the inside. It is decorated with rock memorabilia and animal print bar stools. They have a good draft list, wine, and pretty much any liquor that you could want. I came in on the soft opening night and it was jumpin'! I was happy to see that there is a loud and fun atmosphere on the inside and a more laid back atmosphere on the outside. The service was very quick and people genuinely were having a good time. I can walk to this bar, too, so there's that. Once Red Star gets the food trucks coming in, I am likely to be a regular here during football season!

Awesome new addition to the Seminole heights scene. Cheap drinks. Great atmosphere. Ambiance is perfect. Dog friendly inside and out. Can't wait for some live music.

What a fun place! After a long delay, Red Star Rock Bar is open for business! You'll find parking for the bar in the dirt lot next to the bar on Florida Avenue. While it looks small from the outside, you actually walk into a long cozy bar with high top tables on the left, bar on the right with plenty of stools, and a dart board, restrooms, and jukebox near the back. There is an outdoor patio out the back door. Seems like that would a fun place to hang out and chat - a bit more mellow than all the frantic activity inside. Live music is planned, so keep an eye out for what nights that will be happening. I only went for the soft opening, but I was very impressed about how smoothly everything was running. Plenty of efficient bartenders made sure that drinks came quickly, and they were on top of re-filling cocktails when they got low. There is such a cool vibe to this bar - pictures of old rock stars on the wall, electric jukebox that you program/buy credits for with your smart phone, and guitar frets as handles on the bathroom doors. They completely won me over, however, with their Funko Pop Beatles on display. Glad they finally opened, I'll definitely be back for another perfect Moscow Mule.

I think it's great this place finally opened! Seminole heights and I were waiting patiently and it was worth it. We needed a place to get mixed drinks in the neighbor-hood. It's a rock bar! Rock on the juke, cool Mellow crowd, fun staff. You can tell a lot of love went into this place. I adore the outdoor patio and ample parking. No pretentiousness here at all, I feel right at home. We went for a friends 21st birthday and the treated us amazing! He will have those great memories for the rest of his life! Thank you Red Star! Some other reviews of this place were strange. One I couldn't even tell if the guy was being sarcastic and didn't know how to yelp and the another would like to take down a whole business because of the unfortunate 'alleged'actions of one employee. I think when people consider blasting a place over small things that aren't a constant, please realize how much work, time and money goes into building a place. You put your heart and soul into it in every way just for some chooch to be a spoiled brat on social media? Back to the point, I am a huge fan of this bar. And we all welcome them to Seminole heights with open arms. Even the art in the building is breathtaking! Have fun and I will see you there!

Inexpensive drinks, neat specialty cocktails, awesome rock vibe decor, great large patio, friendly bartenders, and a jukebox. They also keep on tap some beer you haven't tried yet. I'd definitely go back.

One Star Rock Bar. This bar is lacking the key ingredients that make a successful bar....bartenders that are pleasant, attentive and serve you drinks. There is no real excuse to have to wait 10 minutes to even be acknowledged, let alone get a drink, when you sit down at the bar and it's not busy. Come on bartenders, I thought we shared a common goal here....I am at the bar because I am thirsty for a tasty alcoholic beverage, and you're at the bar because you want to pour/make me that beverage and earn money by doing so.

Great place in Seminole Heights (where Domani's used to be). Really enjoyed the atmosphere and variety of people there. Not hipster or pretentious like some other places in the area have been leaning towards lately. Service was decent and I liked the outdoor area.

Why 5 stars? Because it fits Seminole Heights like a puzzle piece. --- --- --- When it comes to my drink of choice, 9x out of 10, I'm going to go straight for the beer. And in Seminole Heights, there are tons of amazing breweries, beer bars, and restaurants with a great beer selection. Cocktails though? I'm sure there are some good ones at The Refinery, Fodder, Rooster, etc, but just a good old fashioned bar with great drinks? Nope, we didn't have that before. I feel like I've definitely seen Rock Star labeled to be "Coming Soon" since sometime in 2013. I'm glad they were finally able to open their doors, after what I'd imagine was an incredibly horrible/frustrating process for them. I've heard enough horror stories from restaurants about dealing with the city and acquiring permits, that I'm 100% certain I would not be able to handle it. Full disclosure: I have been to Red Star one time, and ordered one drink: a Dark and Stormy, which is my favorite cocktail. How much useful feedback can you provide on a place after one drink? Not a ton. But my 5-star rating is simply for the reasons above. We needed a cocktail bar. And now Seminole Heights has everything. We're ready to take over the world.

Hot diggety dog, this place is fantastic! As a resident of Seminole Heights, I have to say that this bar is a wonderful addition to the booming area. It is a farther south of the intersection of Florida and Hillsborough Avenue. From the outside, it looks rather small, but when you get inside, you see a FULL bar, a table that you can play video games on, a dart board and a Jukebox that you can control from your phone. To top it all off, they have an incredible outdoor patio area that's the perfect size for some outdoor entertainment. What I like that's different about this Seminole Heights bar is that it's a FULL bar, with anything liquor your little heart desires and the option of playing song you want and last but not least, the TVS! Great place to watch any game of your choosing. Every time I've been in this place, whether it's 5 pm, 8pm or 10pm, we've had a lot of fun and there are always a great group of people there. If you are ever in the Seminole Heights area, you should definitely check it out!

Forewarning: these drinks knock you into tomorrow. (But who ever said that was a bad thing?) They are not light handed with their pour, which is great when you're paying a little under the average cocktail price. This was our last stop on a little bar hopping tour of sem heights when my friend was in town recently. This place was really buzzing on a saturday night and the crowd was just incredibly diverse. I could bring anyone of any age it seems, my friends, my mom, it caters to all. All my fellow yelpers seems to really like it so I would definitely be willing to go again and would recommend this place to others when looking for a bar/hangout spot in Seminole Heights.

Decent bar but overrated. Pros: Full liquor bar. Cheap beer drinks - at least the time I went there. I was there on a Saturday afternoon and they had 2-4-1 domestic draft beers (I believe they run that offer from 3-7pm?). A juke box (but someone please stop the guy/girl who plays 5 of their songs in a row off their phone; share the juke please). Cool rock, art work inside. Outside patio for smoking and hanging out (sometimes acoustic or open mic is going on). Cons: This place has a major problem with fruit flies. They were flying everywhere around and behind the bar. Can't even imagine what's in the fruit and liquor bottle caps/pourers (more of this below). Already one of their main tvs behind the bar is not working. The hockey playoff game was on but could only watch it at an angle/over people's shoulders/heads. When I asked the bartender what was up with the non-working tv (or off for some reason?), she just shrugged her shoulders and said "I don't know". One of the bartenders there (or maybe manger or owner?) was super confused about Red Star's specials and sort of had a bad attitude. Middle age guy with black hair. Anyways, I had to explain to him that I was to receive a free beer since we were in the midst of their 2-4-1 zone and that I already paid and drank my first beer. He didn't understand this (even with my empty shot glass in my hand) and handed me a beer begrudgingly. On top of that, the beer had three - count them; 3! - fruit flies or some sort of black specs floating in the beer. I told the guy to please pour me another beer in a different glass and he did; but only after squinting, examining, and fishing out the fruit flies. He didn't seem to want to believe me and never said sorry. Not to sound like a pre-madonna (I'm a huge fan of dive bars) but dude, work on your customer service skills. All in all a decent place. Sort of tight/cramped inside and mix that with hipsters and pretentiousness, it kind of makes this promising bar just another "one of those" bars / restaurants in the Seminole Heights area.

Wow! What a class operation they've got going on here! I went with some friends on a Friday night and it was so fun. I got a round of fireball shots (yummy), and a couple jack and cokes (umm..yes please!) fair prices and great music (Buckcherry!) this place gets one big star for one awesome Rock bar!!!

Just went there with a friend and got a nice spot in the center of the bar. We casually engaged in conversation while waiting for the bartender to acknowledge our existence. There were no drinks in front of us, so I didn't think it would be too difficult to get a drink. Unfortunately two rounds of eye contact with a bartender later we were still not offered drinks. Meanwhile, people around us were continually served, all of which came to the bar after we had. They weren't waving their arms or doing anything crazy to attract the bartenders attention, so I was mystified. Needless to say, we walked out and won't be back. The #1 job of a bartender is to make people feel welcome and at that, they failed miserably. It's a shame because it seemed like a cool place, but I'll go places where I'm treated with respect and the bartenders act like I exist.

Cool divey/biker bar that's new, fresh, clean and has great service and drinks as well as a cool decor with plenty of comfortable places to enjoy a drink and some conversation, a nice outdoor space in the back, plenty of parking, and a jukebox to play some tunes. The drink menu has some fun twists on classic cocktails and they have all the staples as well. I've heard they may have live music at some point which would be awesome. Definitely a nice neighborhood bar with a bit of an edge that fits in perfectly in Seminole Heights.

The COOLEST new hangout spot in Seminole Heights! Great concept. Decor is classic rock with a classy/urban chic twist. Great vibe. Good selection of beer and alcohol and even wine on draft. Love!!

Love. This. Place. Service is awesome, great prices, and full liquor. Tons of parking and food trucks on the weekend. Bosco and company knocked it out of the park...just what Seminole Heights needed!

Great place to hangout and have some drinks. Love music outside and food truck usually on the grounds. Wish they had more non craft beers, too many IPAs for my liking.

Great local chill bar. Drinks are medium to heavy pours. Lots of TVs to watch all of Tampa Bay's various sports teams. Love it here.

Typically when a new bar or restaurant opens it takes weeks, even months to work out the kinks. Well, Red Star Rock Bar has been open for about a week (two nights of which I have been in attendance) and I have yet to see any of those kinks. The atmosphere here is unlike anything else in Seminole Heights, or all of Tampa for that matter. The Rock and Roll theme is heavily reflected in the indoor space where portraits of music legends line the walls. Speaking of the art, one of the owners, Paul, let us know that they would be changing it out every 6 months to keep things fresh. The outdoor space is simple and relaxing- Perfect spot to see a live band and enjoy a drink. Speaking of the drinks, they're strong. Really strong. As they should be. They offer craft beer, wine, and a FULL LIQUOR BAR. And we're not talking frilly cocktails with egg white foam and a sprig of rosemary, this is more of a "whisky coke" type of place (and I mean that in the best possible way). Welcome the the neighborhood, Red Star! We're certainly excited to have you.

I went here yesterday for the first time with some friends. I was not impressed. The service was extremely slow. Each time we tried to get drinks it took at least 10 minutes and while we waited I could see the bar tenders just chatting in the corner ignoring the customers. Then when I finally got served it took the guy another 10 minutes to give me my change. They had a terrible cover song guy playing inside that was more annoying than anything. The only good thing I could say is they allow dogs. I probably won't be back.

Solid. More later, I'm here now & the place is cool enough on its own to have me out the phone down.

Tried Red Star Rock Bar in Seminole Heights on a Friday night right after Happy Hour ended. There were 2 open bar seats which is nice and unusual in this time slot. I just missed Happy Hour but liquor prices were very reasonable and drinks were strong yet still well made. Both bartenders were attentive and personable. There is nothing worse than a dull bartender. Patio was large and a DJ was setting up outside. Great place to watch the game- nice flat screen TVS all around the bar. There is a huge parking lot next door and more spaces out front. The bar did not serve food but there was a food truck on site (didn't catch the name) and I saw some pretty delicious paninis and corn nuggets being eaten. Welcome to the neighborhood Red Star- happy to have you!

Fuck yes! This place is accurately named. Great live rock music jammin' and appropriately prices, delicious libations and a fantastic atmosphere, which seems far removed from the beard-faced hipsterism of The Independent and Refinery. It's almost hard to believe it's in the same hood. To me, this is Seminole Height's saving grace, and soon we will have a delicious ramen shop directly across the street. We visited on a busy Saturday night and we had no issues getting a seat or service. I had a beer (decent selection) and an Old Fashioned, which was way delicious for the $10 price tag. I look forward to hitting this joint up again very soon!

Red Star is the neighborhood bar everyone wishes they had around the corner. From the great staff, to the cool cocktails, to the patio and bandstand, to the delicious food trucks on hand to fill that craving....Red Star has it all. Tell Bosco, Pete Sent Me!

Rock is a dive bar and they are cool. The bar doesn't serve food. They only have drink. But they do allow food to bring in if you like. All the tables are very small. Most of the table can sit to max of 5. If you have a group of 10, some of your party needs to be stand. This is a full bar with mini mix drink menu. Today we have the Taste of Asia allow us to bring freshly prepared food to the bar from food truck. We have order drinks and the bar tender or bouncer pickup the empty bottles or glass. They also have the live music at open patio. No drink passes the check point to the food truck area. You have to drink in the bar or patio. The event make the bar crowed and brink a lot business for bar. We enjoy our time here due to many of us know each other from yelp. Our party cannot be better with this group.

Gahhhh such an awesome bar!!! Super unique and also laid back. Seminole Heights is amazing and this bar adds to the beauty of it all. There's a patio outside and they have plenty of live music to complement it. Bartenders are all awesome, and I mean that! Drinks are strong and made well. Beer selection is fantastic if you like craft beers. I'm sure there's Bud Light behind the counter if you're into that...and the staff wouldn't judge you ;)

Great Friday night rock music! Will try it out on other nights of the week too. Many bands slated to play in the upcoming weeks. ;)

Who hoo, this is one rambunctious full bar on a weekend night. Packed with thirsty patrons trying to get a busy bartenders attention. If you can possibly get a seat at the bar, tip very well for your first drink & you won't be looking for a bartender & waiting all night. This place can get crazy loud and crowded, but everyone is nice & civilized, most of the time. Great people watching spot. Yes there is smoke, but they do have a big open area in the back that is outdide...watch the stairs! There is even a food truck out there most of the time, not sure if they are connected to each other. It is nice because the bar doesn't serve food & when you need to absorb some alcohol, there ya go, food truck. What's a girl to do? I will be back. It is not a weekly place or anything like that for me, but it was fun.

Took forever to open but it's a pretty cool spot. Monday's are hospitality night with some pretty good deals if you're in the industry. The epoxy stained floor is pretty cool too. Food trucks are usually outside and it's getting more packed every-time I go which is good for business. The bathrooms are 1 persons at a time but there is 2 of them and they're unisex. There's an outdoor area outback to smoke or hangout but no outdoor bar. I like it cuz I can walk there easily and it's not expensive.
