Best fast food around! Chicken is juicy never dried with loads of flavor. Yellow rice is tasty with veggies and choice of red or black beans., pork tender and salads are fresh. Portions are gigantic and you get loads for your money. This place located in a commercial area that can get seedy but inside always clean and great staff.

I am so glad we decided to go to Pollo Tropical for a late dinner tonight. We were torn with a few places and decided to go there as we have always liked their food. Everything we have tried has been tasty and relatively inexpensive. (We also had a coupon!) Tonight was the usual Guava Pork Sandwich with yellow rice and black beans for hubby. I tried the Mojo Pork Tropichop with everything just about you could add! Oh, and yummy plaintains to go along with dinner. Needless to say, they did not disappoint. Very consistent!! In addition to having great food, the service at this location is amazing. They have one employee who has been there just about every time we have eaten there. Joshua is super friendly, He makes sure that your food is brought out quickly and you have everything needed to make dinner a plaeasant experience. He clears tables off and I don't think I have ever heard hime not havig a great day. Needless to say, we will be back because of Joshua.... :)

Friendly staff. Excellent pollo. The sides are not all that but the pollo make up for it and the service

This chain has been growing in the Tampa Bay area but this was the first one in town I think. Its the only one relatively close to my house so its my usual location to go when I want a TropiChop. This is fast food cuban food. Since we have such great Cuban food in my area, I usually do not make the trek here very often. The specialty at the restaurant is the TropiChop which features rice, beans, vegetables and a choice of meal. You can also order the meat with sides in an entree. Although chicken is the highlight, the preparations vary offering a wide variety of options ranging from salads to sandwiches and of course the bowls. The restaurant serves beer and has dessert on the menu. They also have a sauce bar that lets you customize your entrees to fit your taste. The cilantro garlic sauce is MY FAVE! Check your mail because there are always coupons for this place. They also have a rewards program now that offers specials and discounts via the email.

Hit and miss for us, this place. Went here on a recommendation from an acquaintance, who raved about the 1/2 chicken with two sides. Then we went for a late dinner and this is the rundown: - Balsamic tomatoes: juicy and flavourful, recommended. - Plantains: burnt. Looked and tasted like they had been sitting in the bay for a while. Not happy with these. - Red beans: decent enough. - Black beans and brown rice: decent, but barely warm. - 1/4 chicken: we had high hopes for their chicken, but it was dry, barely warm, and tough. Disappointing on this visit. - Sugarcane bread roll: dry and tough = waste of space. Now here's what we liked: - Friendly and helpful staff - Clean dining room and self-service sauce station: fun! Would we go back? Unlikely.

Ok. I'm going to be honest. I wasn't too happy my husband chose this place for our lunch yesterday. It looked like a Latin McDonald's. Oh how wrong I was! I ordered the mojo pulled pork with garlic yuca & my husband ordered the boneless chicken breast with rice & beans. I also ordered a tres leche cake to share. Ok...I left this place in a food coma similar to thanksgiving! My husband and I both shared so we could try both meals. So delicious! I'll definitely go back the next time we're in that part of town!

I saw this place one day and dropped in, on my way back. Now, I come here ALL THE TIME!! I always order the same thing...Quarter chicken, yellow rice with veggies and yuca. I tried Yuca here for the first time trying to be adventurous and it's delicious. The food here is slappin! The curry sauce and cilantro sauce, also. The service is excellent and I can come in here at 11 am and be out in 5-6 minutes. What more can you ask for? Fast, courteous and good! Worth my money!!!

Tropichop bowls are the best! Service is prompt and wonderful and the sauce bar is to die for!

I often go here for lunch and I really love this place. It's "fast food" but with a sit down atmosphere. I usually order the tropichop or chicken quesadilla wrap and I have never been disappointed. The prices are very affordable and they also have a sauce bar which is awesome is my book. (I love my food covered in sauce). The service is great. They bring the food out to you and everyone is very friendly. It's been a rare that I have had to wait very long for my food. Once complaint I have is that they changed from curly fries to waffle fries, but that's truly a first world problem.

What a surprising restaurant , where the food I very good and the staff is customer friendly and very attentive. The surroundings make you feel you are back in the islands!

Perhaps the worst drive through in all Tampa bay. For the 6th consecutive time our order get messed up, and it is almost always on the shift of an african american cashier who is just mean to peaple. IF YOU HATE YOUR JOB DON'T TAKE IT ON CUSTOMERS, JUST QUITE AND GET YOU SOMETHING ELSE. The food however is great, and I love the different salsa they have, two stars are for that. Give more customer service skills training to that employee or fire her or you will losing a lot of customers.

Everyone in the freakin nation kept telling me about this place so I had to try it out for myself. 3 stars! It`s not the greatest but not the worst, I can say I have had better. I`m come from Texas where there is texmex, cuban, colombian etc so to me this was nothing very special. Chicken was very dry and salty in my opinion, soup eh, yellow rice okay, red beans delicious and finally salsa choices even the spiciest one was nowhere close to spicy. You really have to catch them on a good night truthfully.

A co-worker and I lunched here. Their specialty is cooking half chickens on an open flame grill. How that make it tropical is beyond me. It just tastes like grilled chicken and although one gets the impression that you will somehow experience a Caribbean type meal but nope. This place is more Mexican than anything else. I had the fajitas, not bad, the guacamole really helped. Co-worker got the Pulled Pork, looked ok, he liked it. Look, want a quick lunch that's better than burgers mystery meat tacos and fried yard bird? This is a good choice. Lots of people agree. About noon you could hardly get in the place.

Tasty, reasonably priced, and fast. Not to much flavor in the chicken, but that's fast food for you.

I like Pollo Tropical. I like Pollo Tropical, a lot. Here is what I like about Pollo Tropical. 1. Convenience - They are all over the place and it is a quick place for a delicious and healthy lunch. 2. Consistency - I have never had a meal that I didn't enjoy. 3. Food (obviously) - I have a strange addiction to their Tropichop bowls. Seriously... a big bowl of rice, meat, beans, and veggies. So delicious! 4. Hot Sauce Bar - Need I say more!? If you are looking for yummy fast food with a Latin flare, Pollo Tropical is your spot!

First classic chicken sandwich bread was stale. Took it back and second sandwich was the chicken was inedible. TERRIBLE.

Rating for Hillsborough Avenue location ONLY. Pollo Tropical is my all time favorite "fast" food chain restaurant. I love that if offers tasty, healthy options. I used to visit it years ago when I lived in Ft. Lauderdale, and was thrilled when they finally decided to give it (another) shot in the Tampa area. You'll notice that "fast" is in quotes, because unfortunately it depends on which location you visit. Last night I walked in, waited in line without moving, then walked out. It seems like this location on Hillsborough Avenue is always understaffed. I usually try to go to the location on Waters Avenue - they have a better grasp on how to keep people moving along.

The lady at the drive thru must be having a bad day she allegedly didn't hear half my order & was very rude about it ! I travel every week & it seems the pollo tropical chain hires the most unqualified people to even be trusted to touch your food . They are careless! No such thing as good customer service at any of their locations. Call the 1800 number on your receipt find out for yourself . Disgusted by this lady's attitude

everytime I hit Tampa or Miami - I'm HERE. The food and the friendly staff make it one of my first choices in quick eats. The don't skimp on their servings and you will certainly get all that you paid for. The free beans which are offered to in restaurant diners are always delicious. The Piro Piro Sauce should have a skull and cross bones on it for the heat level; because it's lethal. If you are hungry and you don't want to break the bank, find Pollo Tropical. I Love This Place and You Will Too. Plus call in the survey and get a free order of Wings - Yes A Whole Order FREE just for Calling in on the best food you'll get in a rush.

This is one of the few fast-food chains I really enjoy and keep patronizing here and elsewhere in Central//South Florida. In fact I have introduced friends/colleagues to Cuban dishes here. They do an amazingly good job on standard dishes and serve them up quickly to go or eat in. Their grilled chicken, black beans, tomato/basil salad, fried yucca strips and salsa bar are notable, and prices are comparable to non-chain Cuban restaurants. They also experiment with menu additions regularly and offer specials and coupon savings. Parking is ample but a bit difficult to go east on Hillsborough at this point near Dale Mabry. As a demonstration of how the West Tampa restaurant market operates, this Pollo Tropical was originally located on West Columbus in the parking lot serving K-Mart near Dale Mabry. However it was not well patronized, probably due to the abundance of non-chain Cuban food outlets all along Columbus. Since moving to W. Hillsborough Ave, they have thrived without having to add mayonnaise to their selection of sauces.

Expectations versus deliverables and factor in price and you will hardly get a better establishment. For less than $6, I can get a bowl of rice, veggies, and chix, and a drink to boot! Keep in mind, the reason I come back is their garlic cilantro saunce, their curry mustard sauce, and their po-po sauce.. All amazingly tasty.. much better than say ketchup and yellow mustard. You can get Plantains... And you can get Beer. Its fast food, with waiter service and clearing but no tipping?! So that saves me 20% on the meal.. Thats substantial. Also -- they give you real forks and knives.. Next step is to get them to serve their food in real bowls.. And to use real glasses.. but hey its a step. Plastic usage really needs to drop in order for us as a planet to thrive.

As a frequent visitor, good food at a great price. Tropichop bowls are great for lunch. Much better than fast food. I usually hit the Waters Ave location as it seems cleaner and better run than the Hillsborough Ave store. Food is comparable at both store, which is an accomplishment in any restaurant. Salsas are nice and fresh tasting, these locations push out a ton of food, and it's always really good. See ya at lunch time! Tropichop and a drink for $5? Love it... C'mon guys, clean this place up so i can raise my stars.

Being from CA, I thought this place was going to be like El Pollo Loco...but it wasn't at all. When I saw the menu, I realized it was a Cuban fast food joint...whaaaaat?? So, I got excited and ordered the sampler (chicken, ribs, pork) and yuca fries and red beans and rice, and mac and cheese. Everything was cheap, so why not?! Considering the price, the food is good and it's great for a quick late night bite to eat.

As much as I loathe wifi splashscreens (which cause havoc from a lot of devices), Pollo Tropical's was amusing. They asked for my name (Anonymous), my email ( me@privacy.net ), and then asked me to consent to much more text than anyone could read in that font. Fortunately, the field was editable, so I replaced it with text of my own choosing: "Pollo Tropical® agrees that anyone can use their wifi service in any way they desire. Pollo Tropical® agrees to indemnify and hold harmless everyone everywhere, without limitation." Clicked "Accept", the company accepted my terms automatically, and I was online. Gee, next time I'll ask for one miiillion dollars. It's hard to go wrong here, but my favorites -- black beans and rice, yuca con mojo -- made a delicious lunch while I, uh, used their wifi in any way I desired. And, folks, they're not kidding about the "Salsa Fuego". Go easy on it unless you prefer habaneros to jalapenos. In which case, go right ahead and do a shot of Salsa Fuego. But remember to sign onto the wifi network first and make sure the company agrees to cover all related medical expenses.

Fast, delicious, good portion sizes for the chicken, great prices... what else am I missing...hmm... I was staying across the street at the Newport Beachside Hotel and Resort and was out and about walking and exploring. I got hungry and wanted something quick and satisfying so I tried this chicken joint out... I ordered their 1/4 chicken + 2 sides. The chicken was seasoned and cooked well... the sides came in small porrtions but for the price... you cannot beat it. The employees were all friendly and giving. My favorite is their self serve sauce and condiment section! They had a variety of sauces.... bbq... curried.... salsa.... mango bbq.....onions.... This was my go-to place for lunch and will definitely recommend this place to anyone in the area vactioning in need of a quick yummy fix.

This is a great place to go for weekday lunches. I always get the classic chicken sandwich. You get a side dish and a soda with it. Very reasonably priced and the sandwich is great! They do sometimes have a problem when I order it "plain", but it usually comes out right. Also -- whenever we go there it's always FREEZING! The AC is kicked down low and they have the fans on. Brrrr!

They have ruined this gem ! The company that bought this has now halved portions and taken away a lot of my favorites on the menu =((( I come here for a taste of real chicken like Miami and not to buy beer !

Nice in between fast food and sit down.Food is every bit as awesome as the ones famous in South FL. my girlfriend had the new wrap and it was huge. I had to help her eat half lol. Total check for both of us was less than $13, what a great value definitely recommend.Healthier food, Chicken, Beans, Rice and a whole lot more choices to choose from. the food is amazing, good quality, good portions, and reasonable prices, the food service is really great, they tell you not to tip, they have a really great salsa/condiment bar, drinks are self-serve with free refills, casual yet nice restaurant environment & their drive thru is amazingly fast too, most recently i tried the drive thru for the 1st time to get some food arrived at 6pm and was out within 4 minutes tops. They also have a double outlet at every tables & free Wi-Fi i highly recommend. The slow roasted pork is the best I had, pork in a "tropichop bowl" where you choose the ingredients. I added brown rice, tomatoes an corn and it is the best ever! they also have a peachy colored hot sauce in a bottle on the condiment bar that is spicy and most yummy.Their plantains are tasty & perfectly cooked and they have a new corn chowder type side order that is delish. I was bit under whelmed with their chopped chicken but it's still good and the chicken on the bone is quite tasty and juicy. Their pork sandwich is very good with slow roasted pork, a tangy sweet sauce on a kaiser bun and their chicken quesadilla is good to me because the sauce is mild and it makes the chopped chicken less dry although there wasn't enough cheese. I'm not crazy about the yellow rice with veggies and their unsweet regular tea and unsweet mango tea is very refreshing. I love the table numbering system because a place like this so busy needs some order & organization. They also have an amazing kids menu with many kid's type foods that kids love. They are also open until midnight most nights, you can sign up for free text coupons on their website pollotropical.com/defaul… and their chicken is never frozen and hormone free,Usually Sunday and Monday are crazy busy.

Glad to jump on the Pollo Tropical fanatic ship! One of my favorite fast food joint that is quick in service, cheap in price, and great in food! The chickens (white meat) are marinated in a tropical sauce and grilled to almost-perfection! Not only do they offer "Pollo" (chicken) but also pork, steak, and shrimp. Wonderful side dishes; beans, white rice, yellow rice with vegetables, curly fries, salads, platanos, etc. Along with some free self-serve sauces, kickin` it with your meat! Despite the traffic flow of hungry-angry travelers, service is always friendly and quick!

On our trip to Florida, my uncle's friend had brought us here for dinner with his family and boy am I glad he did that. This place is amazing! The chicken was delicious and their macaroni was just OUT OF THIS WORLD. I'm not really sure what it is about the macaroni, but I am totally in love with it! I just wish California had this place.. Oh Florida, how I miss you so. :[

Pretty good food, however, the tables were dirty and there was trash all over. The portions for what I got were a little small. However, my dad got something and he had huge portions. I would give it three stars except for the dirtiness. Three guys were walking around handing out food and cleaning tables but none of them swept or used a towel on a table. I saw a guy use his hand to wipe rice onto the floor.

This is not the typical pollo tropical you will find in Puerto Rico (believe me, there are very popular), but it's very close, food is great and the service outstanding to be a fast food. One of the big differences is the beer and wine (just the basic ones), but a noo noo in the island. The salsa bar is very nice, you can add to any of the meal to bring out more flavors. Basically, everything is about the chicken and the grill. You can get a whole chicken, a half or a quarter made on the grill (which I recommend if you going to eat chicken) and add the sides (the tostones and the yellow plantains "amarillos" are great), the rice and the beans (red or black). The boneless chicken breasts are a little dry for my taste, but you can have them chopped and make the bowls which are very tasteful. The complementary sweet bread is great. I haven't tried the other meats, which I'll intend later. The flans are good, but the tres leches not as expected. The place is clean and the employees are very attentive. This is the place if you're looking for a quick fix of Caribbean food.

Recently tried this chain for the first time on my lunch break. I would describe the place as a fast-food BBQ place with a tropical flavor. Menu favorites: chicken fajitas, caribbean ribs, boneless chicken breast. Meals served with your choice of rice, fries, and beans. A nice alternative to the usually fast-food places.

Best of the fast food places around. No place else can you get something like this, as fast as they do it, and at the price. Im not usually adventurous, so the chicken tropichop with white rice is as far as it goes. Good hot sauce. Good way to shed some pounds and not lose the taste.

Being the Pollo Tropical fanatic I am, I invaded this unsuspecting Pollo on a Monday, expecting them to be still recovering from a busy weekend. The chicken was perfect. The team inside were wide awake and cooking up a storm. I ordered the pollo tropical "tropical trio" so I also had ribs and shrimp. Everything was fresh and great,!
