Food is good. Lots to choose from. Staff is not friendly at all. The guys cooking are pretty serious. It is an extremely small place. I recommend taking your food to go.

On 7/5/15, 1:46pm, through GrubHub. We Ordered Fried Ravioli, an Italian Hoagie, and a Buffalo Shrimp Hoagie. We watched as the "should be delivered by" clock ran out on the website, after being 20 minutes after "should be" time, we called and were told "it hasn't even left", we called back around 3:20, concerned that we had now waited 2 hours, to get 2 sandwiches and an appetizers. We didn't even receive our food until 3:45. It was hot, thank goodness so that's why they're getting a half star. The food was average, and tasty, however, after the horrendous wait time, I highly doubt we will be ordering from them again.

Ok so I really wanted to like this place but just couldn't find one good thing to say. The restaurant is soooo small inside there's like 3 tables and some outside seating. It was extremely hot inside the food was way over priced and to be honest it wasn't a good cheese steak. If you want a good cheese steak try jersey mikes

Simply great food!!! A must try is anything on their menu. Cheese fries, garbage fries, philly cheese steak sandwich is great! They have breakfast stuff too!

Called for delivery recently and the person the answered was very rude and not helpful whatsoever. I order over 30 dollars of food and expected so much more. That said the food was decent. I had the philly cheese steak and it was good. The cheese fries was very disappointed with the actually quality. The most disappointing thing however was the calamari. I would recommend no one ever get the calamari. Not only not worth the money but tasted terribly bland. Might order again but only if there's no other delivery options aside from pizza.

Wings are pretty darn cheap! 24 wings go for 16.95. But I split flavors so I had to pay for 12/12 which was 21.29 total, which was still good. The buffalo was great but the garlic Parmesan could've used more garlic powder but all in all it was a great deal. I recommend having the ranch dip with the wings!

Great sandwich. Salty but it was still cheesy and good. Service was crappy. Girl at the counter was rude and had an attitude although I tipped well. Might be back. But probably not.

Got the Philly cheese steak sandwich with provolone. The sandwich tasted great, lots of meat. Nice sized sandwich for $7. The staff was very friendly.

Philly Phlava isn't Pat's or Geno's or even Tony Luke's from South Philly, but they do a good job of serving Philly-style cheesesteaks here in Tampa. You'll find them in the shopping center at the intersection of Dale Mabry and Fletcher Avenue, around the corner and next door to what used to be Five Guys burgers (now Twinz City Hotdogs). Inside the small restaurant you'll see all of the trappings of Philadelphia memorabilia, including a wall of fame for the Philly sports teams. You place your order at the counter, and then wander around looking at the signs for Herr's potato chips, Amoroso rolls, Hank's Sodas, YooHoo, and TastyKakes pastries. The menu has the standard cheesesteaks, hoagies, burgers, dogs, wraps, sandwiches, grilled chicken sandwiches, salads, and wings, along with breakfast sandwiches, omelets, breakfast burritos, and platters. I ordered a traditional cheesesteak with Cheez Whiz, mushrooms, grilled onions, and peppers. I added a side of BayFries which was French fries kicked up with Old Bay spices and seasonings. Eating this sandwich isn't gonna make you run up the stairs of the Philadelphia Art Museum and holler out, "Yo Adrianne!" but it may just send you home with a tummy full of yumminess.

The place has been here a while. Haven't really given it a try until now. I went to school in northern Delaware and my wife's family has lived in that area ever since, so I'm accustomed to going over the line into PA and finding some great Philly cheesesteaks. It's what you eat at night when the student cafeterias closed down on campus. The place was busy with take out orders. I ordered a Philly cheesesteak with hot peppers. It was ready pretty quickly. The meat was coated with the hot peppers which was good. Could use a little more cheese. But all in all, not bad. Not the best I've had this year (was in the Philly area back in March,,,ahh, heaven). Will I go again, maybe. The service was excellent.

This second tampa location is in the same plaza where I work, and Ive stopped in for breakfast(surprised they had it) and lunch. The philly was quite good...I can be picky about the meat and I have no complaints with theirs. Honestly, my favorite thing about this place is their DELICIOUS 4$ breakfast platter. I get scrambled eggs, bacon, home fries and toast...the portions are huge, they make it fresh to-order, and the flavors are phenomenal. Might be odd to stop at a philly place for breakfast but I highly recommend it, and of course the phillies are always a good choice.

First let me say that I am a relocated "Philly girl who is addicted to cheesesteaks....sadly Tampa is sorely lacking in anything Philly unless you go to Philly Phlava....I FOUND A PIECE OF HOME right here in Tampa......first of all they fly in "Amoroso" rolls daily from the Northeast.(.one of the key components of a cheesesteaks or hoagie)..then the right combo of chipped beef, cheese, fried onions, and red gravy--( my way)..and I'm in heaven- They even fly in TastyKake too--this girl is in heaven!

Tonight I had a craving for a good steak sub. Having heard that there are many places in the Tampa bay area to score one, this place stood out for its funky name and proximity to my living quarters. And their specialty is Philly cheese steaks! I mean, who doesn't like a philly cheese steak? They have a pretty eclectic menu offering the usual cheese steak combinations, whiz and all... As well as other sandwiches, wings, and a slew of deep fried appetizers, fries, and rings. I decided to get a cheese steak with onion, peppers, mushrooms, and whiz as well as an order of hot wings and onion rings. The wings were okay. Nothing special, but tasty. They could have benefited from being served with some celery. The onion rings were also not bad. A little bready, but they had good flavor. The star of the show, their cheese steak was good as well. A little on the small side, but the flavors were on point. Could have been a little juicer, but it satisfied. Overall it was an enjoyable meal, but it did not wow me. It was all a bit pedestrian. But nothing was bad. So will I be back? Absolutely. It's close, and decent, and satisfies my occasional cheese steak craving. Will I go out of my way to get here with other places around? Probably not. But for now, it satisfies.

Good menu items but it depends on which location you visit. The way the food is put together at this location could be better. It's very inconsistent. My husband loves the Philly with fries. Sometimes the fries are good and sometimes they aren't. The employees don't seem to care much about their job. If the food was more consistent I may have given more stars. The potential is there but the execution is what is flawed.

My first time here and I'm delighted. The "Pacino" (their version of a cuban) is absolutely amazing. Fresh, fast, and friendly. Actually came in for a Philly Cheesesteak, but decided to try the special. So happy I did.

Great Philly and fries are always cooked great. This is the second best Philly in the Tampa Bay Area and totally worth a trip if your around. They even have some Tasty Cake for dessert!

I woke up today and thought to myself, "Jesus Christ in heaven, deliver me a delicious cheese steak and I will forever be in your debt." And the angels came down and reminded me of Philly Phlava up on Fletcher, close to where I live. I've been there before and thought it was really good and after a second great experience, it's time for 5 stars. Why would anybody go anywhere else for such a specific craving? I'm not gonna go to Pizza Hut and give them 2 stars because of a mediocre quesadilla. These guys know their stuff. Just go. DO IT. So f-ing delicious, I almost became a Christian today. Almost......

Not the worse Philly cheesesteak, but certainly not the best either. In fact, I'd recommend hitting up Westshore or Jersey Mike's. Their sandwiches are not only bigger, but they're loaded with meat that's heavily coated in cheese. Philly Phlava advertises those Amoroso rolls, but personally, I think they suck. Personally, I'd only eat here as a last cheesesteak resort.

I'm a sucker for mounds of steak, cheese, and onions piled on to a hoagie. This place is located in a strip mall. We went Sunday morning as they were opening so we were the only ones there. It was HOT inside. Staff was friendly and made a couple suggestions. Food came out quickly and was fantastic. We will be making more trips here.

Amazing delivery food when I'm not looking for a pizza. Their breakfast hoagies and chicken tenders are excellent, and everything is priced very reasonably. I'll be coming back soon and often.

Yum! Good cheese steak. Fries were piping hot and the sandwich was fresh and good tasting.

I ate here several times in it's early days & finally tired of the owners attitude...some people need to be self employed and he's one! He had signs stating if you want "extra" expect to pay extra & you do. I decided to give it another try recently. I was happy to see the owner absent & most of his tasteless signs gone! I like lots of veggies so wound up paying $1.50 extra for onions, mushrooms, & green peppers. I felt the amount was decent, not "extra". The meat is tasty & I requested provolone, not traditional but personal preference. What I didn't prepare for was the amount of SALT maybe it spilled on my cheesesteak, but 3 days later I am still thirsty! Yes better and cheaper within a mile at Jersey Mikes or Westshore Pizza....and no attitude or extra charges for more veggies!

I rated them one star due to service as there food rates a 3 but with out proper service it just a one as I tried them twice and they screwed up my takeout twice and refused to fix it either time as the uncaring staff does not understand when you ask for cheese wiz to put cheese wiz on it in fact my first Philly did not even have a hit of cheese on it and they sad they take care of me the next time I came in so I did for another take out but they refused to take care of that and charged me full price and this time again no cheese wiz but instead a meager amount of what barely tasted like provolone

I have been here once or twice over the course of the past couple years, usually when I'm driving by and need to get a bite to eat. This was the first time I made a trip to come over here specifically. The staff seemed exceptionally friendly, in that local eatery where they know everybody kinda way, I placed an order for a chicken cheese steak and some onion rings and sat down at the window seats to watch the tv till it was ready. The food came out pretty quick, I thanked the gentleman and head home to devour it. I took down some of the onion rings on the way home. They were really good and tasted really fresh. The cheesesteak was quite good, but could use some more cheese, maybe thats just cause I'm a cheese fanatic, but I do remember there was an option for ordering double cheese, which I will have to remember for next time.

All I know is two sandwiches. Best ever! #1 the Pacino and #2 the Philly steak. I order the Pacino with extra white American an oil and vinegar, and the Philly with extra white American and hot peppers. Amazing.

I am super picky about cheesesteaks. I can't stand the meat having too many fatty or gristly bits and the cheesesteaks here are always excellent! I have never dined in, as the restaurant is a little small and not super inviting, but I've always received hot, delicious food for takeout. I love the option to add onions, peppers and even sautéed mushrooms to the subs. Haven't tried much other than the cheesesteaks but when you are hungry for a great cheesesteak, nothing else will do.

Best cheese steak I've had outside of Philly. Taste just like Pat and Gino's. Amazing.

Just like being in Philadelphia Great Cheeseteaks, and the best original Tarantino's Panzarotti's! I drive over 150 miles to enjoy this place.

This is a house of sin. It is food porn with the 80's daw-wah-wah music. We got phillys that are the real damn deal, with Hank's Creme Soda that will leave you completely satisfied. Don't tell the staff how good their food is. They really don't care, and they'll make it obvious. Just buy it, eat, tell everyone else. They also have this sign that says if you attend the Bolts/Bucs/Bulls/Rays game and bring your ticket stub within 7 days, they'll give you a buy one get another half off. We were on vacation, so I didn't get to test that one. But I will. Eventually.

Great food that takes FOREVER to make! We ordered a wrap & a cheesesteak & waited 15+ minutes for it!

I like the other location better but that doesn't change the food. The cheese steaks are excellent and they have WaWa coffee.....You know what it is if you've been in the Philly area.

Good sized Philly Subs, just like being up North. Even with Tasty Cakes.

    (4)
  • James H.

"Amoroso" rolls that can be found at every pizza place on Dale Mabry, every meat you receive is frozen and bought in bulk, EVERY ingredient is sub par (just ask to see the brands), cleanliness isn't a focus. You would think with everything wrong it would at least be affordable. Go anywhere else and you'll have a much better experience.
