Holy rolls! These rolls are soooo big! All the rolls we had were very good! Not a fan of the squid salad. Good service.

I was so impressed with this little place. The BEST crab Rangoon and Sushi. Service was great and fast! I can't wait to go back!!

Sushi is of good quality but nothing outstanding. Specials are special and the way to go here, lunch and happy hour.

delicious sushi and well priced. they have neat and interesting rolls. Service is good too. This is my favorite sushi spot in all of Tampa. The volcano roll was better here than anywhere else I've been. lots of parking out front.

I don't have any complaints about this place. The ppl are always friendly, the food is delicious and presented nicely, and it's about five mins from the house. We have dined here maybe once a month for the last few months using the "VIP card" they gave us on our first visit - $5 off a $35 or more bill. We've tried a few different rolls and apps - some are ok, some are amazing. The volcano they serve is not the volcano you're used to. Try the crab rangoon, gyoza, caterpillar roll, lava roll, and ocean roll.

Last night was the first time I actually ate in the restaurant. I work nearby and we always get take out from here and the food is really good. The restaurant is a bit small, maybe 5 or 6 tables that sit 4 and another 5 along the wall that sit 2. The bar area probably sits another 10. In addition, to the food being really good like always, their presentation is great. Also, when we got there, it was still happy hour and the Sushi rolls were $1 each. We had the Grilled Squid appetizer, you get the whole squid sliced up (see Picture). It had a nice spicy sauce. We also got the Tuna Love Boat, that had tuna tartar, as well as Tuna Sushi, Tuna Sashimi, and Tuna rolls. I will continue to order take out, but will definitely make it a point to eat in more often.

Went here last night with a few friends. When I first walked it, was a bit surprised how small it was inside. They arrange my table quickly when I told them I had a party of 6, and seated me quickly. The service here is very nice, the server seemed willing to offer any help with menu if needed. Though the menu didn't need much help. When you first receive the menu it felt quite large. This is because once you open the menu, it is full of pictures of each of their items, which is awesome, especially for newcomers. I ordered the dinner special, which comes with soup and salad, plus three items of your choice from their selection, definitely worth the price (17.95). I got two sushi rolls (Crazy Horse, Spicy Salmon) and a pork tonkatsu. For a party of 6, the food came out quickly. Sushi rolls tasted great, not too much sauce and a good amount of rice on the sushi. Pork tonkatsu portion size is quite generous, served with rice and katsu sauce. Overall, I would definitely come here again and recommend it to my friends, they have a happy hour(4-7) for sushi and drinks, which I might try one of these days, and a lunch menu.

When I have to eat my lunch at my desk this is always a favorite place to grab lunch. They are fast and efficient, usually takes about 10 minutes after I place my order. The sushi is very fresh and rolls are a decent size. They have so many different lunch specials; pick 2 or 3 rolls and then it is accompanied by soup and salad. If you pick the bento box, example chicken teriyaki you'll get the entree, a soup, salad and shumai (steamed pork dumpling). I have come for dinner and they have happy hour specials! $1 nigiri sushi from 4-7pm. They have a huge selection of rolls and the staff is very helpful in selecting something you will like. They moved from where they were located before but about 50 yards closer to Himes Avenue. It is a very intimate spot and some days it's jam packed like theirs a crazy fun party going on and sometimes you can catch it when it's a little quieter and it makes for a romantic affair. Everyone is so friendly and nice. You should try it. The avocado bombs are the Bomb!

I don't have high expectations when it comes to sushi in Tampa, but this place has somehow managed to disappoint me in a way I hadn't expected. The place is clean, and there's plenty of parking in the parking lot (since most of the other storefronts in the minimall are empty). They have lunch specials that are well priced. However, a well-priced deal on food mediocrity is no deal. The miso soup was fine, not remarkable. The salad was not good. The dressing lacked the crispness I usually like in these salads. But the sushi... on the plus side, there was a lot of food for the money. On the minus, I could barely detect the fish or flavor. I had the spicy salmon roll and the eel and avocado roll. I was given the spicy salmon roll and the eel and cucumber roll. Fine, whatever. The spicy salmon roll was not spicy, it had too much of some disgusting orange sauce soaking into it, and there was no discernible salmon. The eel and cucumber roll was tasteless. Also, I ordered hot tea to drink during my meal. The waitress brought me a small cup, and she never came back to refill it (or even ask if I wanted it refilled). I will not return.

what I like a about this place is that they are always consistent. I have been to many sushi places in Tampa and this is one of the top. The ambiance and location are so so but if you want good sushi this is the place.

Not so great, not terrible either. Got a carry out order recently and the order was executed timely with no errors. Location of the restaurant is definitely sketchy which kinda makes you keep second guessing the food.

THE absolute best sushi in Tampa Bay. I've been here over 20 times and have had most of the rolls on the menu. The bonus...every roll is pictured in the huge menu, so you know exactly what you are getting. The Out of Control is one of their best rolls. Pink Lady, Fuji, Pink Neon, Halloween...I could keep going and going. You cannot go wrong at Origami! It's a small restaurant, so if you have a group you might want to make a reservation.

Excellent food and service! It really is in a construction-heavy shopping mall, but inside, the restaurant is clean and looks great with Japanese décor, painted the (traditional) red and black theme. Every dish on the menu has picture and I was slightly hesitant about the price, but in the end it was a great deal for the money. I got the vegetarian Bento box, which comes with an asparagus roll, tempura vegetables, stir-fried vegetables, nigiri seaweed salad, inari, and the standard dinner accompaniment of white rice, ginger salad, and miso soup. The portion looked kind of small in the picture, so I ordered an additional avocado roll as well. Firstly, our server was incredibly nice, and made so with a request when I asked if I could get my box without the nigiri, just extra vegetables or whatever I could substitute. Secondly, the food was all really good! I usually don't usually like miso and the soup was very good. Not too strong and not too much seaweed. Thirdly, the portions are huge! My box took up my half of the table and there was a ton of food not even including my extra avocado roll. Definitely would come here again!

Great deal and great sushi! We wish you were open for lunch on Sunday's. You can get in and out in less than an hour on a week day, which is nice bc I work right now the street. I will most certainly be coming back. The tuna roll was just a huge chunk of tuna, which I love. The spicy tune roll and some crunch in it, it was also delicious! The shrimp roll would have been better it the shrip was fried right then, but I've been here before and it was- so hopefully it was just an off day. Regardless, I'll be back!

This sushi is the best in this area, hands down. Love the staff and the sushi chef there. They really know how to year their customers well and they have some special going on.

My girlfriend and I absolutely love this place! We have been coming here for a few months now and can't get enough of their $1 nigiri happy hour! Highly recommend the spicy crunchy tuna roll and the eel nigiri and tuna nigiri is always so fresh that it practically melts in your mouth!

This place does not even compare to the Origami Sushi on Waters. I've made multiple attempts for them to change my opinion around, but I will never waist money at this location again. The waitresses are not attentive with only 1 table to serve in the whole restaurant. For take outs, the hostesses will not give you the specials over the phone. God forbid you come in during the start of business. Does there chef just serve leftovers from the night before? The sushi tasted horrible, the rolls were falling apart, and the chicken was over cooked (again, did they just reheat the food from last night?).

Really good sushi and nice service. The Kani Salad and Spicy Tuna Saneich are my favorite appetizers.

This restaurant is a true example of not judging a book by its cover. Located in nondescript, strip mall, I have to admit I was not impressed, when we pulled in. This day we were on a munch trip. A munch trip is where you go to several different restaurants and only get something small and at the end you have had a complete meal. Inside this hidden gem of a restaurant was gorgeously appointed, with everything seemingly authentic Oriental, even down to the color scheme. I orders 2 vegetable rolls: asparagus and avacado. Both were fresh, light and very flavorfull. Our server was wonderful and provided guidance with the menu and excellent service. There is no doubt that I will be returning very soon to have a complete meal. My tastings were terrific & I kinda felt gyped I did not have an entire meal... next time. What's a girl to do? Sometimes a day or evening calls for a munch trip, hey don't knock it till you try it!

This place is in a sketchy run down strip mall, but aside from the weird location, the food is not the best. The lunch specials are competitively priced, but the sushi is not on par with many sushi places I frequent. The sushi rice kept falling apart, a sure sign that they didn't make the rice sticky enough and/or did not put enough rice wine vinegar. Aside from the rice issues, the fish did not s

Coming from someone born and raised in South Tampa- this place Best Sushi option for us who live in Seminole Heights! The prices are very reasonable, the rolls are unique and delicious! My fiancé and I have been coming since they first opened. They have sushi happy hour that has amazing options and is high-end tasting. They use tons of fresh ingredients and I am never disappointed. The owner is always there ready to greet you and the staff is efficient and friendly!! Highly recommended !!!

I brought some friends here and they were immediately sketched out by the non-descript shopping center and construction zone. Don't let it deter you, Origami Sushi is a great little spot to grab sushi on Hillsborough Ave. They have good happy hour prices every day (not just week days) between 4 - 7 pm. I leave here stuffed and never spend more than $20. The service is friendly and fast. The rolls are presented beautifully and in generous portions (many of the specialty rolls are a meal on their own). They make some really neat rolls that I haven't seen anywhere -- the menu is huge to the point of making it hard to make a decision. My only complaint is that it gets a little confusing since the happy hour menu is just the name of the rolls without descriptions. So, you have to play this little game of searching for each roll in the menu to figure out what it is. It would be helpful if they added descriptions on the HH menu.

This is my and my boyfriend's go to take out sushi restaurant. Their rolls are big and filling, worth their price. They have a long list of speciality rolls on the menu so there is a lot to choose from. Don't be fooled by the location. It used to be in what looked like an abandoned shopping center but I think they've finished, or are almost finishing, redoing the parking lot and they've added a Walmart market next door.
