I love Chinese food and this place hits the spot when i dont want to pay the higher prices of a PF Changs. While there are chairs to sit down, it is a small place and does a large take out business. I have never eaten in. I have called to order take out many times and have always been told the same thing: ready in 10 minutes. I always get a laugh out of the consistent wait time. As for the food, it is better than most hole in the wall chinese places around town and they do some unique things with their menu. I, however, typically stick to the combination platters. The quality of the meats is average for chinese food, but the flavors are quiet good. My wife enjoys the soup about as much as anywhere else in town.

New China is quick and efficient. It is our go-to Chinese take out restaurant in South Tampa. While it's not like Boston or NYC's Chinese take out, they are quick and reliable. Our go-to's here are the Boneless spare ribs with fried rice (combo), beef with broccoli, and crab rangoon. If you are hungry and want your food ready in 10-15 minutes or less, this is the place to go. Oh, and they use high quality plastic take out containers that are great to be reused! :)

Quick Summary: This is the sort of place you swing by for a quick bite. It's not fine dining, and won't blow your mind. But the food is decent and at a great value. Working the night shift I wanted to get some food that I could enjoy at 3AM. Craving some asian flavors I saw this place was on the way to work. So I placed an order of fried rice and wonton soup over the phone and went in to pick it up. For about $5 I got a nice portion of pork fried rice and a nicer portion of wonton soup. Impressed with the value I figured I'd order an entree as well, that was also a very nicely portioned. They were also very quick prepping it while I waited and enjoyed the wonton soup.

Can you really give a fast-food Chinese place 5 stars...I don't think so, better reserved for Bern's and grandma's house. That being said, this place is probably the best fast Chinese food in south Tampa. Their crab Rangoon is great, it has chives in it which separate them from everyone else. Soup is always consistant, but most important, their main dishes are all tastier than everyone's else's. Their bourbon chicken is better than your local place's bourbon chicken, so is their honey chicken, egg rolls and spring rolls. They also deliver, and it's always been quick. When I don't get delivery I drive past two other take out places to get here.

Not horrible, but way too salty. When I'm exhausted, I need delivery. When I lived on Davis Island, I could rely on Wok n Roll to deliver within 20 minutes decent if not remarkable, Americanized Chinese food. Now that I'm a little farther south, I'm searching for a similar situation. New China is close by and delivers quickly, but the food is way too salty. We tried the panfried dumplings (bland but edible), the chicken soup (bland but edible), the pork fried rice (okay) and the Singapore noodles (horribly, offensively salty). I'll skip the Singapore noodles, but if I'm desperate for Chinese delivery, I think this is the best option south of Bay to Bay.

I stopped going here. They are friendly enough, but sometimes that just doesn't cut it. First, the wait time is a bit long at times. Second, last time I went, my order was messed up. I ordered two meals but only received rice for one. And the lastly, the final straw that broke the camels back... my boyfriend went in to use the bathroom (mind you the only bathroom in the place for both employees and customers), and there was NO soap. To me that's just gross. Especially handling my food!

The same thing happened to us twice here, first time we thought it was a fluke. We ordered food from here, this time a Sunday evening. Over an hour later, no food. I called to check on it and they said they should be here in 1-2 minutes because they'd already left. We live about 5 minutes from the place. Over 30 minutes later the food showed up. Other than taking over 1 1/2 hours, the flavor was lacking and it was only slightly warm.

Called in for pickup on our way back from Miami. Man, did that hit the spot. We ordered pork lo mein, orange beef, mixed chinese vegetables, and bourbon chicken. Everything was awesome except the bourbon chicken. I know it doesn't seem Chinese, but a reviewer on another website raved about it so we ordered it. It was less like bourbon chicken and more like sweet and sour chicken without the batter coating around the chicken. It wasn't horrible but it just wasn't what we expected. Otherwise, everything was delicious and really hit the spot. Shortly afterwards we tried Bao Bao and ordered pork lo mein and orange beef for comparison. We have sided with New China and will only be ordering with them from now on.

New China used to be my go-to for takeout but lately the food has been pretty bad. I used to love their fried dumplings and egg rolls. But last visit the shrimp fried was dry, downright crunchy with only a couple measly shrimp. Service is always friendly and quick but I think we'll try another Chinese place next time.

By far, my favorite Chinese takeout in Tampa! The food is great, you'll get a bunch of it & it won't break your bank account. Love their hot & sour soup! It's always how I gauge whether the Chinese restaurant is good or not. Nine times out of ten, if the hot & sour soup is good, the rest of the menu will be good, too.

Not bad for New York style Chinese. The place is a total hole in the wall, and looks dingy. That being said, the food was flavorful. Dishes were not overly sweetened and tasted the way you would expect. Take out for this place, don't eat there. For now this is my go to New York Style Chinese place in south Tampa until I stumble across something better. If you know of amazing NY style Chinese in the area, please leave me a comment.

In my opinion, greatest take out ever! My wife and I have been coming here for almost 6 years. Great service! Food always comes up quick. Fast delivery. Everything you always expected from your neighborhood chinese take out...

We drive out of our way to this place for take out. I wouldn't eat in. Our favorites are chicken with vegetables, pork fried rice, hot & sour soup and shrimp egg rolls. the soups come with a bag fried crispy noodle. They some times throw in free fortune cookies.

Chicken wings and fried rice or French frys for 4 bucks! I'm there. Been coming here since i had to ride my bike w my boys. However they use the same chopped "general Tao's" chicken for all the chicken dishes. Sesame seeds on the sesame chicken honey on the honey chicken. They make a big batch so SOMETIMES it's a bit old and chewy. Not knocking on the place whatsoever. Just sayin...

I were looking for our first good Chinese food restaurant in South Tampa and this place was by far the best place I've had here. The wanton soup was absolutely amazing. I mean really. The chicken and vegetables average. The fried rice a little above average. So unless I find something better this is my place.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
