I love the empanadas. My only concern was on my first visit one of the younger girls took my money and went right back to to the fryer to fix my food without washing her hands or using gloves. She tried to tell me that she did but I was watching her because I'm a little OCD like that. I had to refuse those and request another order be made for me. She gave those to another customer. So, if sanitary food is your thing...that will bother you a bit. Other than that, the food is scrumptious! You will love the empandas!

Stopped in on the way home from airport. $3 frozen, but fresh fried empanada. Quite a few options, nicely filled not too much as to be messy. About the size of a taco. I had a beef and one crab one. I liked them well enough, but was still hungry after.

I wasn't sure where to write my review since I've had their empanadas from their Mr. Empanada food truck. I tried the beef and cheese and man, oh man was it good! I've always seen Mr. Empanadas everywhere I drive by, but have never been able to stop by. I'm glad I got to try some from their truck because it now opens my eyes on how good their empanadas really are. I also tried their crab one and wasn't much of a fan. It is loaded with crab but the flavor wasn't for me.

I found this place while jogging in Tampa yesterday. I haven't had empanada in a long time, so I thought I'd try it. For those of you who have never had empanada. It is a stuffed pastry that was fried or baked in many countries of South America, South of Europe, and the Philippines. Not the healthiest if they are deep fried, and they usually have fish or pork filling. The kind that they have here had fruit, crab, pork and chicken, and spinach. I don't eat meat anymore, so I tried the guava and cheese. Not the healthiest either, but it was edible. I can not eat this stuff all the time, but I will definitely go back and try the Spinach and Artichoke. The service here was quick and friendly. It is the perfect place to grab a party pack.

The Empanada here are excellent. The restaurant is small but the food and service are quite commendable!

Walked in and was kindly greeted. Ordered the dual beef and cheese empanada with fries combo, which also comes with a drink. My colleague had the black bean soup with bean and cheese empanada. First visit for both of us; neither knew what to expect. Yelp led us here and we couldn't have been more thankful. Piping hot, fresh, flavorful food was served to us both. The service was friendly and welcoming. The only negative, which was not the fault of the establishment, was the fast - food ambiance feel caused by the two separate patrons engaged in loud cell phone conversations. Aside from that, everything about the good has me looking forward to future visits!

I love empanadas and the ones at Mr. Empanada are great. They're made fresh while you wait in a variety of flavors from beef to crabmeat to guava & cream cheese. I've never had anything there besides the empanadas since it never made sense to me to order a burger at a pizza shop, so to speak. The only downside is the price for the amount of food. I have to eat at least three to make a worthwhile lunch. So, by the time I add a drink, I'm looking at about $12 bucks, which is a little high for a quick lunch of this type. In all fairness though, a small chain like this doesn't have the economies of scale to survive without charging more than the huge corporations it competes against. An added bonus for me is that I like supporting local businesses so I'll definitely keep going back to Mr. Empanada.

I must admit, before going to Mr Empanada, I dismissed it as another Latin/ Hispanic place that would not be welcoming to non-Spanish speakers-- boy was I wrong! I received a warm welcome (in English!) and the staff were very friendly and helpful, even using my name back to me. Very friendly staff, and several types of empanadas to choose from, even some that I could tell were non-traditional, such as buffalo style empanadas. I tried the beef, or maybe it was beef and cheese. It was so incredibly delicious! I've had empanadas before, but these are so yummy that I actually came back again a few days later. Thank you for having great service and great food!

Great local chain. The empanadas are made to order, so they are hot and crispy. I tried the beef and cheese, and it was bubbly hot and filling. I also had the Spanish bean soup, and it was very hearty. For dessert, I had the guava and cream cheese empanada. That is such guava goodness. The place is very clean, and the staff is super friendly.

Empanada what can I sayI love them there the beat to my heart...... As a young latin lady I love to find a tasty empanada aside from my dads and my own. In Miami there was Vickies that couldn't be touched and then I went to Winwood Kitchen and had theres and Fell in love like head over heels. Well now that I have moved and I have a new place to explore I have stumbled upon Mr. Empanada. Oh my how there tasty and oh so fresh. I do have one downfall and that would be the darn prices. THey have many different taste and they are extremelygood but $2.50 for 1 is just to much when I use to pay like .75-$1.50 for 1. Aside from the price and the intersection were its located if your looking for a deelish empanada its a good place to hit up. Until next time yelpers adios!!!!

My favorites are the picadillo (beef) and crabmeat. I don't care for the apple for dessert, but the guava and cheese is amazing!!!! Real big chunks of guava, not that pasty stuff.

Love the empanadas here. Everything from beef to chicken to broccoli and cheese. Great for lunch or take-out!

I reviewed the University Square location, so I won't repeat that here just to say diddo. I have visited four locations and the service and food quality is consistent in all four. If you like deep fried turnovers filled with chicken, beef, sausage, or even guava goodness, stop by any one of the Mr. Empanadas. You won't be disappointed! I'll also put in another good word for their mini-empanadas tray. 25 mini empanadas make for excellent socializing munchies or for movie night. Beats popcorn and pizza rolls any day of the week, and weekends too!

Stopped in for a quick bite to cure a brutal hangover. Mr. Empanada has an interesting selection of empanadas. I tried the spinach and artichoke and pizza empanada. Both were quite good, albeit not what you would expect at an empanada shop. They are made fresh to order so they come out piping hot. You'll have to wait a couple of minutes for them to cool or you'll burn your mouth on the filling. The fillings were very good. The spinach & artichoke was not too salty and it was the right consistency. I thought the pizza filling was pretty neat. Reminded me of being a little kid. Everyone working there was polite and friendly. Good place. Would return.

Great chain but they should look into the idea of a healthy "baked" Empanada. They are probably constricted to the rules/regs of the chain...nice idea though, huh? This particular store is VERY clean and has a friendly and courteous staff. Quick turnaround for the orders and nice seating arrangement.

I LOVE these empanadas. I spent the summer in Tampa and just decided to try it. It is my favorite place to eat when Im there. I can't find anything like this in the midwest, which is pretty sad. The cravings have gotten so bad that I thought about opening a franchise so I can eat it whenever I want! I even thought about having them ship me some frozen one. Honestly, I can't wait to go back to Tampa so I can eat at Mr. Empanadas. I would recommend the beef and cheese or the crab meat. They are both amazing!!!!

I have to be honest the empandias are very very good here but(I understand after if,and,or but usually comes something negative) for $2.69 for one empandia is a problem to me. Stop by for some quick eats and order six beef empandias and the total was $17 I had to ask again how much?? So I looked at the menu and I was surprised when I saw the price.....good eating but too expensive.

Not bad, but not great. The empanadas are made to order which is a nice change from fastfood burgers which sit under the hot lamp for hours. Basically the empanadas are deep fried hot pockets... not healthy, but I bet they would really hit the spot after a night of drinking if they were open late (but they are not). The cuban was actually pretty good. A coworker brought the apple empanadas to a party and they were amazing. They are actually better than the ones on the menu because the ones on the party platter are minis and are covered in cinnamon sugar.

My family and I love Mr. Empanada! It's quick and it's yummy. I love their Picadillo empanadas - crispy, deep fried pastry shells filled with ground beef and seasonings. Add cheese to that and wow ... good stuff! The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is simply because the girls behind the counter were not the friendliest and the restaurant could use some updating.

Ok, so there isn't much on the menu in terms of selection on the menu for empanadas at place called Mr. Empanada. Their savory empanadas are decent but by no means creative- and just a little too greasy. Of course they ARE deep friend, but the meat inside itself was greasy. -1 The service is friendly and the food is made to order, so everything comes out piping hot. +1 The big winnder/star (in my opinion) is the guava and cream cheese empanada though. Most places that I've ordered this from usually use some sort of guava... gel/goo for the flavoring. It tastes fine and I order many things that use it. Mr. Empanada's uses CHUNKS of guava in their version though!! So amazing!!! I'd go back just for that! +3

Who knew you could have a resteraunt that only sold empanadas? It is a great place to grab a quick bite to eat.

Had the beef and cheese empanada. Nothing special, similar to a Hot Pocket. Service was rather cold when I went. Though I hear the Guava and Cream Cheese empanadas are something special.

I'm Mexican & LOVE empanadas! Since I just moved here about 4 mos ago from a much smaller city in GA, I'm extremely excited that I can find just about anything to eat that my little Mexican heart desires! I have passed by Mr. Empanada a couple times & have always wanted to try it. Saturday I had to get an oil change across the street & decided there was no better time to give 'em a try. My 2.5 yr old was with me & when we walked in the first thing I noticed was how incredibly clean everything was. The menu was quite simple, and at first I wondered why. I ordered just the beef empanada, plain & simple just to see what I was dealing with. I ordered my daughter the chicken bites kids meal. And at the last minute decided to also try the Guava & cream cheese empanada. It was nice to find out that the restaurant is run by a family & that they all work there. My daughters chicken came out first & it was piping hot. Had to let it cool down just a bit before letting her eat it. It came with probably 5 or 6 chicken pieces, steak fries, and a drink. A few minutes later my two empanadas came out. First up was the beef empanada....took one bite & I instantly thought to myself, how does just beef taste so incredibly delicious?! The seasoning in the beef was so amazing & the shell was cooked to perfection. The size of the empanada was decent as well, not too big & not too small. My daughter absolutely loved the chicken. Remember she's 2.5 & she ate all but 1 piece of chicken & maybe ate 1/4 of the steak fries. I tried a piece of the chicken and it too was pretty good for just being chicken! The fries were also pretty darn good. My daughter was up & wandering around the little restaurant & the owners were so nice to her & talking with her. She really enjoyed her experience there. Lastly I must review the most amazing thing I have ever eaten.....the Guava cream cheese empanada. I must confess when I saw it was the same size as the beef empanada I thought it would be like when you order crab rangoon at a Chinese restaurant; you know you take a bite and realize they may as well of called it a cream cheese puff. This was NOT the case at Mr. Empanda. I took a bite & was delighted to find out that it was just the opposite. Jam packed with guava & just the perfect amount of cream cheese. Again, the shell was cooked to a golden brown & it was nice and flakey. I really wanted to take a picture of it, but it was too damn good that I couldn't put it down!! I am definitely gonna make Mr. Empanada a weekend thing to do with my daughter & to try everything on the menu! They are absolutely kid friendly & I love that it's such a nice family that owns the business!
