Best Goat curry with very fresh roti (bread)

Let me put it to you this way. I arrived at noon and was the only customer there... a few minutes later another gentleman arrived...but that's it. The food was just okay. The goat curry was super rubbery and I had a hard time finding anything edible in there. The chicken Masala was bone-in. My biggest critique was that the sauce in all the dishes had separated. None of them were smooth and creamy but instead had oil floating on the top and sediment on the bottom. Also, the naan was not white and fluffy like EVERY place else I've ever had it... instead it was dense, kinda greasy, and a yellowish brown color. Lunch buffet was $9.95. I wouldn't recommend this place. I only came here because the other 2 Indian buffets in the area are closed on Mondays.

I usually don't write reviews, just read them. The food was so terrible at Mayuri, I had to share my experience. The only reason why we (my co-workers and I) went to Mayuri is because they had $20 groupon for $10. I bought 2, and will let the other one to expire. 1) The mango lassi was water down and the added sugar wasn't completely dissolved when they handed us the lassi. 2) They don't use basmati rice, instead they use a much cheaper alternative. The rice wasn't even warm when they brought it to our table. 3) Spinach chicken and lamb korma was so bad that my co-workers couldn't even eat 1/4th of the portion. 4) Chicken biryani - where do I even begin? The gravy wasn't mixed all the way through and the meat quality was just awful. I love biryani and it was the worst biryani I've ever had in my life. No exaggeration. 5) Chilli chicken - which should've been boneless WHITE meat chicken was made with dark meat and tasted like fried rubber. After arguing with the waiter, he finally agreed that they mix both white and dark meat for quantity purposes. Seriously? 6) Gulab Jamun - when we ordered dessert, the waiter literally walked out to the buffet and brought us whatever was left over from the buffet. Maybe my experience was bad because I ordered a la carte during their buffet time? Nevertheless, my experience was horrible and I ruined Indian food for my co-workers. Like I said earlier, I will never return to this restaurant and will probably let my other coupon expire. There are so many better Indian restaurants in the area, try avoiding Mayuri as much as you can. If not, I hope your experience is better than mine and please share. Mayuri - if you're reading this. PLEASE use quality meat. Oh I forgot to mention - their garlic naan was great. And they had free Wi-Fi. That is all.

Run-down location out in Temple Terrace. Dinner buffet on the weekends is $11.95 plus 15% tip for parties greater than 5. No fresh naan at buffet for at least 30 minutes. You can see the oil floating above the saag paneer. One server who knows nothing about the kitchen and didn't offer any drinks. The only positive thing about the food was the chole. It was what kept from walking out. Oh and a cockroach spotted near the kitchen Recommendation: absolutely not!

This place is so gross. Worst indian food ever. All my life eating indian food never had worst everything I tasted was gross. And the food was cold . I was surprise by the taste of the food an indian person made it. I regret going here what a waste.

Excellent food. Great tasting food and there are so many options in the buffet. We did not go for the buffet but ordered alacarte during lunch hours and the food was amazing. Don't go by the look of the restaurant. Its a diamond in the rough for authentic Indian food.

I like Indian food but this is the worst Indian restaurant I' ve tried before. Bad customer service the food less than ok

Average Indian food but lot of variety. We had opted for buffet and they had many south Indian as well as north Indian dishes in buffet. Usually Indian restaurants specialize in either of the Indian cuisine but because they have both with lots of dishes in each hence quality of each item is average.

Wonderful vegetarian options. Spicier than most. Be sure to stir the rasam, otherwise all the spiciness sinks to the bottom. We arrived too late for dosa. Aloo poori was excellent.

Lets get to it. The place looks like a real dump on the outside. I drove past here several times doubtful of what I would find inside would be gratifying. If memory serves me correctly, this location was a Mediterranean eatery years ago that disappointed. The interior was dull and obscure. I was directed to a table by a woman coming out of the kitchen far-off from the front entrance. It wasn't a warm reception. It had a 'No Coloreds Allowed' feel to it, yet everyone in there was darker than me. I can only attribute such a posture to cultural prejudice/ignorance. Everyone working seemed so lifeless and depressed. The place was empty, and although it was one hour to closing, I've never seen the parking lot full a any other time when I drive by. Now, this place only earned an extra star on my rating because of the taste of the food. The navaratan korma I ordered was rich and flavorful. After taking a closer look at my leftovers, however, I realized they had blow-torched my gobi manchurian, which either had been cloaked under the gloomy setting, or I was just plain hungry. Midway into my dinner, another woman emerges from the kitchen. She makes eye contact with me. I smile and nod my head as a noble gesture. Not only does she not return a smile, she turns away as if to say, 'what are you doing here?' I never felt more ostracized than my visit here. The food was expensive- the most I've spent for one person at any Indian restaurant. Although the taste was fulfilling, the price and the staff is enough to keep me away.

Authentic Indian cuisine! I was so happy to stumble upon this Indian restaurant. We had the buffet on Wednesday and enjoyed masala dosas with our meal! The food was sumptuous. The best way to describe this restaurant is Indian comfort food. Additionally, the staff is friendly!

We went to a Sunday dinner buffet with some of our Indian friends. The food is exceptionally good, cozy atmosphere, friendly service and reasonably priced.

This was the WORST indian food I have ever eaten. Even with a groupon this was a total waste of money and a wasted evening. The seating area is dirty and falling apart. The serving staff and owner not professionally dressed. The door to kitchen is so dirty...I can only imaging the state of kitchen. The tomato soup and mixed pakoras we ordered were OK....eatable. But our entree palak panner and vegetable jalfarezi tasted like butter and overcooked boiled vegetables respectively. Their naan bread is the weirdest I have ever tasted...yellowish brown like another reviewer mentioned. When we mentioned this to server, the owner took the dishes back put lots of red pepper in the dishes and brought them back. When I told her no this is not how this is supposed to taste she looked at me angrily like I was crazy. I cant understand all the 4 stars. That is what had me fooled but I suspect these are people who dont know what Indian food should taste like. This restaurant does not know how to make Indian food. I wonder if they have a south indian chef and maybe their dosas might be better. But I am not going back there to find out!!

I'm so glad this place doesn't dumb down its food for the American palate. The food is spicy, as it should be, and homestyle. If you're expecting fancy dress, pretentious decor, or to be wooed by the food's presentation, go elsewhere. If you want a great, honest little Indian buffet, a feeling like you're at grandma's house, and unlimited masala dosa... and you can handle a little bit of heat, then you're set!

Maybe it's a matter of taste but I don't think so. I recently visited Mayuri for its luncheon buffet and the first thing that jumped out at me was that virtually all the diners were of Indian descent and the servers dress casual making it impossible to distinguish who is who. The cashier was appropriately attired in a sari. As for the food there are two stations, vegetarian and non-vegetarian, a real Plus in my book. And here's where I say it's a matter of taste, the food offerings are extremely spicy. As a non-Indian I can understand the cultural differences in spices, but it was way over my level of enjoyment and I've sampled many fine Indian buffets that balance the "spiciness" of offerings. Another bone to pick is the naming of most dishes without any explanation of what it is. For these reasons I can only give two stars to Mayuri and say I was very disappointed and won't be returning.

Indian/UK spice level! Walking in - It looks like this is an old Steak and Ale location with some Mock Tudor elements still visible both outside and in which I found amusing. Perhaps not the best looking place to take a date but.. Service and Menu - I visited at lunch time and what was on offer was the buffet, I liked the way they split their offerings into 3 sections, it was easy to sample the different meat and vegetarian dishes. I have to say the spice levels took my back to the UK and they would be a little too much for many of my friends. The butter chicken was the best I have add for many many years and I had a hard time stopping at just two tastes. The sauces were very flavorful and I will gladly be back to try the rest of the menu. Value - As this was a lunch visit I thought their fixed price was in line and considering the food offered the best Bhuna for your buck in town. PS. the dosa has it's own serving station

I wish I could give this filthy restaurant negative 5 stars. I am from India so I know how Indian food should taste like and I have lived in states for almost 2 decades and have tried hundreds of Indian restaurant but I have yet to find a restaurant like Mayuri who can cook absolutely the worst food possible. Indian people who has given this restaurant over 2 stars please go see a doctor and find out what's wrong with you. Indian people visiting Tampa and Non-Indian people who has not tried this filthy place please stay away unless you want to spoil your day. I ordered food for 10 people to go and believe me after getting back to our hotel not a single person ate the food, so it was not only me but the entire group. Not a single dish was eatable. I can make better food with my eyes closed. People who wants to jog their memories of public restrooms in India , try Mayuri restrooms, I would be surprised if you can even breathe inside. Seems like Tampa is way behind in terms of quality Indian restaurant.

Just had their vegetarian samosas. This restaurant was a vendor at IndiaFest in Melbourne, FL. Very good samosas, especially with chutney.

I love Indian food so I decided to make use of my Groupon. My first impressions was tha of a dirty barn! The bathroom was filthy and I felt I had to wash my hands after washing my hands! The lady kept bugging us to decide what to order after only sitting down for 2 minutes. She kept coming back every 2 minutes. Then she said the kitchen is going to close soon, it was 9:30pm. The water tasted like tap water so I just had a sip. The food however was very good. I got the Lamb curry and Chicken tikia masaka along with pkoras and nan breads. Not sure about the hygenic condition of the food preparation but the food is great

My friends from India took me to this place and I instantly became a fan! Their food is affordable and delicious! The outside of the restaurant looks a little run down, but other than that, it is a great place to have authentic and delicious Indian food.

The 4 stars I'm giving this place is for the food and the price, not the ambiance. The exterior is as dilapidated as can be, while the inside decor is...similar. But who really cares, because it's the quality of the buffet that makes this place magical. We had channa masala, daal, butter chicken, aloo golbi...it was all delicious; it changes every day, and it's a good value at $8.95. My favorite part about the food? It is unapologetically spicy. Basically this buffet flips you the bird and says, "If you don't like spice, that's too bad. Leave here and never return." Lucky for me, I love spice so this place and I got along. Just when I thought the fun had come to a close, I noticed a man serving hot masala dosa (a hot, delicious veggie-stuffed crepe) through a window. While this is NOT a good spot for a romantic date night or impressing a VIP client, I recommend it for lunch with friends who enjoy new experiences in ethnic food.

This is place is certainly not bad, but it is also not out of this world great. I've been to another Mayuri in Houston and I think that one is actually better. I cam here on a Sunday and was glad to find that the lunch buffet is also offered on the weekends, but at a higher price ($10.95 compared to $8.95 during the week). The decor of the restaurant is certainly plain and outdated, but the food is much better than the look of the restaurant. My favorites today was the Butter Paneer Masala and the Masala Dosas. The spice level was on the mild side, but still flavorful. The South Indian offerings set this restaurant apart from other buffets which typically serve north Indian (Punjabi) style cuisines. The unlimited Masala Dosas are cooked fresh, and there is often a line of people waiting for them, so I'd recommend taking two or three at a time. There were a number of food options and actually more vegetarian options than non-veg items. There were only two desert options and that area could certainly use improvement. The first option was a soft serve vanilla ice cream in a junior cone. The other options was white bread soaked in spiced syrup. I don't know the actual name of that dish or if it is something that was just created in house, but it essentially tasted like Gulab Jamun. I would go back to this place again in the future. If you are just looking to pick up some food they offer a take out option for the buffet at $5.95.

Great southern Indian cuisine- the chef's from the eastern state of Andhra. However, extremely poor service and zero decor. I'd try their lunch buffet, because you can at least serve yourself.... when the kitchen slowly brings out the food...

This was my first Indian food experience and it was quite the experience! We walked into an Indian birthday of some sort accidentally and noticed we were the only Caucasians in the building surrounded by at least 75 Indians., which of course I'm totally cool with! We did wait quite a while for a table and it took the host at least 30 minutes to seat us and then 15 extra to take our order (we actually had to go find him and bring him back to our table...). Anyways, I had no clue what I was really ordering just knew it was chicken and cheeseballs with curry and some other things I hadn't heard of. It was well worth the wait. It was delicious even though it looked a bit sketch because I had never seen anything quite like a bowl of random stuff and chicken. They even let us have free ice cream cones at the end out of their soft serve machine which really helped with that bit of a burn. I'll be back here for another ethnic night out!

I can't believe I'm the first person to review this amazing place. I was introduced to Mayuri by an Indian friend of mine. He told me that when he ate here the tastes reminded him of home. That's a strong recommendation and set the bar pretty high, but damn if this place didn't meet it. When you first walk in you notice the decor is very plain. Don't let that fool you. They do a lunch buffet during the week and a dinner buffet on the weekends. The regular menu is extensive with an easy to understand grouping of all the foods. You want Southern Indian cuisine, they got it. How about a taste of the North? That too. You could honestly take a trip across India without ever leaving your plate. We were a group of four so we went for broke when ordering. Here's the breakdown: Appetizers Vegetable Samosas -- great flavor Gabi Manchurian -- didn't expect cauliflower to be so good & spicy Chilli Paneer -- hands down my favorite Entrees Butter Chicken -- not too heavy, just right Chicken Vindaloo -- chicken fell apart Vegetable Jal-Frazi -- great spice & crisp vegetables Hyderabadi Biryani -- the highlight of the evening & one of the best dishes I've ever had Dessert Pistachio Kulfi If I were to go into all the incredible dishes in detail this review would be a friggin' epic. Trust me when I say you must try this place out.

I didn't know that bland Indian food existed... My friend had a Creative Loafing deal for this establishment so we decided to go. The parking lot was scary and not well lit. When we walked in, we were ushered to a table and handed us waters (which tasted like soap). Upon closer inspection, the CL deal was not redeemable for the buffet. When we asked the girl to give us menus, she had no idea what we were talking about. After that it took about 15 minutes for someone to take our order. I ordered the butter chicken and my friend ordered the chicken korma. We were both disapponted by our entrees. The butter chicken was missing that yummy tomato sauce i've grown to love and her korma was lacking in just about everything. We both also found little bones in our food. Next time I'll fish out the extra $ and drive down the street to Cilantro.

This place is - for lack of a better word - disturbingly awful. I feel like swearing a ton in this review to convey to you how miserable an experience you would have at this delapitated, run down, dirty, poorly run excuse for a restaurant, but I will keep it clean and try to stay objective. The service was OFFENSIVE. It took no less than 10 minutes once we walked in the door for someone to even acknowledge our party of three. The guy passing as our server showed us to the closest table and gave us two paper menus. Then he left without a word. No drink order, no greeting, not so much as a hello, even though we were friendly and smiling despite the initial wait. Five minutes later, he brought a notepad and asked, "What do you want?" We ordered three chicken dishes with naan and a plate of rice. Also, water. Ten minutes after he walked away, he came back and put three empty cups in front of us, walked away again. Ten more minutes go by, he comes back and fills our glasses with lukewarm water and says our food is almost ready. Three minutes later, naan - woohoo. The naan is the ONLY good thing about the meal. Ten minutes later we are served with warm chicken curry, tikka masala, and korma. In the curry and tikka, the chicken is so dry, hard, stale, freezer-burned and overcooked two of us can't stand to eat what we ordered. The korma was okay. We got the bill from a different guy - we never saw pur server again until the worst part of the night. He came back to collect the signed receipt, and grabbed it out of the credit card owner's hands as she was trying to sign it, then picked up the cash off the table while we were sitting there. Still hasn't spoken more than 3 words to us the entire 1.5 hrs we were there. Distasteful service, awful food, not even worth it if the price was $1.00 per meal. Mayuri - not even once!!! I am warning you, eat here and regret it.
