My mom was visiting from out of town and wanted lobster. I'd heard about Lobster Haven through a friend, so we decided to head over for their lobster rolls. Well, when we got there, their whole-lobster specials were so enticing that we threw our roll-plan out the window. Yep, we pigged out on 1 1/2 pound lobsters that were absolutely perfectly cooked. Perfectly. (And we don't throw that word out often regarding lobster...Mom is from Boston.) The clam chowder is thick, creamy and filled with clams. And the bread pudding...make it stop. Homemade bread and a sauce you could drink...it is SO delicious. Our hostess/server, Holly, was the most lovely, fun and accommodating person. She made our day with her special attention. You'll love her. I never, ever expected this caliber of food. It was as delicious (if not more) than an expensive fancy dining experience. Go there. I'm not kidding. We WILL be back.

We were looking for a great seafood restaurant while visiting Tampa and we found it! Food: The lobster rolls were delicious and reminded me of being in the northeast. We also ordered The Big Easy. It's crab meat on top of guacamole. We did lobster meat instead. It was DELICIOUS! I wouldn't have thought to do that. My hubby started with the clam chowder. It was super thick, but really great flavor. We ended our meal with the bread pudding. It was like a warm delicious french toast dessert. The serving was enough to share with 3 adults after our meal. Cost: The price point was also very reasonable. Service: The service was awesome. Nathan was great! He was super attentive, so much that my son remembered his name. It means he likes him We will definitely be back!

Lobster. Rolls. Yum Have been to Luke's lobsters and this is equivalent of not better. The uconn roll is good too, I ordered both.... But you can't go wrong with either. Five stars. Very solid. Holly was a great resource and quick and efficient service.

A seafood restaurant with a distinct costal New England feel to it. As you can tell by the name, at least 60% of the menu items have lobster in it. Lobster "chowda," lobster rolls, lobster cakes, lobster wraps, lobster tails, lobster guacamole, and entire cooked lobsters that you have to crack open are what you'll find here. They have buckets of live lobsters in the back so everything is made fresh on premises. That being said, I thought the lobster roll was decent but tasted bland. It was filled with chunks of lobster but I wish they would season it more. It's lobster + mayo on bread. Am I missing something? The homemade chips and potato salad weren't anything memorable as well. Not bad, no good, just meh... Overall, I'm stuck in the middle about Lobster Haven. I wouldn't recommend but I also wouldn't discourage someone from giving it a try.

My brother and I tried this place out based on reviews - and were not disappointed. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful - and talked to us about the fish they get in weekly, and the fish they have in stock. This included lobster tails, tuna, octopus, and more. They're clearly passionate about food and delivering the highest quality experience - in a casual, low key environment - to all their guests. I ordered the little neck clams and 1.5lb lobster dinner with corn and potato sides. My brother ordered the steamed shrimp basket and 1.5lb lobster as well. Everything was so fresh and delicious. I would be here everyday if I lived in the area.

Lobster Haven is a seafood market. They sell fresh and frozen seafood as well as live Main lobsters. My husband is like we are in FLORIDA and you take me to a restaurant that sells MAINE lobster. Shaddup. Maine Lobster is good. Both my husband and I got the lobster delight. You get a lobster tail and a choice of shrimp or scallops. We both got the shrimp. The lobster tail was really small, but it was good. My shrimp were pretty good and buttery. Yum. The lobster roll seems to be the star here. One day I will be back to give it a try.

There are a ton of reviews for Lobster Haven, so I'm not sure there is much I can add for new material, but I can definitely elaborate. First and foremost, BE PREPARED TO WAIT. What kind of wait, you ask? 30 minutes for a crab cake sammich and an oysters Rockefeller. Yeah dude, 30 minutes. But when the food came, we couldn't have really been happier. They make their own white bread for the sandwich, and the crab cake had little-to-no filler at all. There was a lot of crab meat involved. The sandwich was simply delicious. As for the oysters, good as well, but nothing mind-blowing. Pretty standard by all accounts. The décor on one side feels extremely northeastern, like Maine or Nantucket, while the other side feels like stepping into the French Quarter in New Orleans. The two areas are geographically far from each other, so I found the divide in the décor mystifying. The staff was very friend, but they weren't in a hurry to get anything done in a timely fashion. So for that, I'm taking away one star and going with a 3 spot. If I want something from here in the future, I will probably call ahead, pick it up and take it home.

Yummy, fresh, lobster wrap with a a cup of clam chowder. This was definitely delicious and worth the drive. Thanks again Ira! Go see him y'all KJ Oh and free bourbon bread pudding thanks to Yelp

The clam chowder was thick and could use some more potato, but it was really good. The lobster roll was on point, but not the best I've had. The potato salad was okay. I think I'll try the coleslaw next time. And I got a free bread pudding for checking in on yelp! I'm too full to try that yet. I will go back again! Service was great! :-)

This place was a random find on yelp. When we first pulled in we were unsure if we made a good choice. It was a fantastic find! Everything we ate was amazing. Nate was very friendly and you could tell that the crowd was full of 'regulars'. I strongly recommend.

Delicious ! Delicious! Started with the Big Easy which was great just the right amount of crab meet on top. My boyfriend had the French Market broil and he loved every bit of it. But I had the Snow Crab Legs omg! The crab legs are some of the best I've had. Seriously recommend you have some!

the true definition of a hidden GEM ! Best lobster rolls in Tampa hands down .... and they serve it Connecticut style! (lobster roll, no mayo & served with hot melted butter drizzled all over) Best thing is they actually ship their lobsters directly from MAINE ! SWEET !

Honestly, I don't know what all the hype is about. I went with a friend for lunch and ordered the lobster tail special. There was so little meat and it was dry and rubbery. I also ordered the lobster bisque which tasted like it came right out of a Campbell's creme of chicken soup can. It was also not the greatest experience because 2 workers were arguing loudly at the front of the store. Maybe it was just a bad day, but all I know is that I won't be going back!

I've been going here for sometime now. Basically been buying the live Maine lobster. No complaints. Last week bought 2lbs of crab claws for about $12.99 lb. passed on the live Maine lobster because the price on the 1 and 1/4 wasn't $6.99 lb. can't remember the price per lb. Returned today to buy the snow crab legs again. Low and behold the lobster was $14.99 lb for the 1 and 1/4 pounders. Mother Nature has caused some price increase. Anyway I checked in and for that the deal was a bread pudding with a $20 purchase. My snow crab legs came to $29. Was told that the yelp deal was for eat in. No where does it state that. Anyway that's my only gripe about this place. Hence 4 stars and not 5

This is a hard one. I was in the mood for lobster when I came here. I really wanted to fall in love with all the foods I tried. They were just fine, but didn't blow my mind. I had oysters Rockefeller...meh. I had a Maine lobster...it was fine. I had the lobster chowdah...It was delish. I love lobster rolls, but the way they describe them on the menu isn't so appetizing to me. It's really hard to rate a Tampa lobster restaurant when you've been to New England and had really great lobster dishes. I probably won't be begging to come back, but it's not bad and i still recommend eating here if you need a lobster fix.

This was the first restaurant we went to after we flew into Tampa to start our family vacation on Friday, June 26. I do not eat seafood but looked at the menu ahead of time & I saw I item on there I could eat which was chicken salad sandwich. When you pull up to restaurant it looks small but when you go in it's an nice size & the staff is very friendly. Our waitress told us they steam everything & nothing is fried which is different. My daughter was looking for fried shrimp with fries & I was looking for fries with my sandwich. But with our meals came complimentary bread & chips with your meal. My boyfriend had bucket with snow crabs, lobsters & other seafood which he enjoyed, daughter had chicken salad sandwich kids meal which was good but she would like to have less celery & I had sausage sandwich meal which was very good. The only suggestion I would have would be for the sandwich to be bigger because it was small. I would have like the sandwich to be twice the size. The taste, flavor, service & atmosphere was amazing

We had lunch in this seafood market/restaurant last week. The Lobster Rolls, both traditional mayo based sauce and the U Conn Butter slathered one are to die for. The rolls (sort of a hotdog bun) tasted home made. Fantastic potato salad, too. And outstanding service. We are determined to try and eat our way through their menu.

This place is alright. Got some fresh cooked lobster and ate in here. The staff is nice but the lobster just didn't taste that fresh. It had a hint a fishyness which fresh lobster just shouldn't have. Maybe I'll give it another shot.

3.5 Stars I wanted to love Lobster Haven, and while there were bright spots, there were also low points, and in the end it was just okay. Located in a strip mall off of Hillsborough, we were surprised when we went on a Sunday for lunch that nobody else was there. The hostess/waitress was friendly and efficient, though, and told us to have a seat anywhere. The seating inside is awkward. Tables are fit into the space as best they can, working around the live lobster tanks and freezer containing a large assortment of frozen seafood. This is an excellent spot to pick up fresh or frozen seafood to go. We shared the fish dip to start. This was my favorite item. Generous portion, nice smokey flavor, and served with plenty of crackers on the plate. We did wish they had some jalapenos to help spice it up, but there were none to be had. For my meal, I had the crab cake sandwich, which I enjoyed. Roll was fresh, mustard sauce was tasty, and the crab cake itself had plenty of crabmeat in it, with a good flavor. Served with both bagged potato chips, and a homemade potato salad, which sadly, was marginal at best. My BF had the lobster roll. Wow - what a disappointment. For $14.95, he got "re-freshed" lobster (meaning, not picked right then). It is a small sandwich (served in a hot dog roll), and while the roll is packed with lobster meat, unfortunately the lobster meat was tough, chewy, and had almost no flavor. His sides were bagged potato chips, and coleslaw, but the coleslaw smelled 'off' so he didn't risk it. The waitress did offer to bring him potato salad, but he declined since I thought it was just fair. With tip, for the two of us, the bill came to $48. And that doesn't include any alcohol, just sodas. So - the long and the short of it is - I just didn't think it was worth it.

There are two parts to this review. The first is the food. The second... a very unpleasant experience! My girlfriend and I went to Lobster Haven with high expectations... and it was very good. We both got the Lazy Man dinners, and the lobster was wonderful. Sides were ok... corn was mushy, but adequate. Upon arriving, we were seated fairly quickly... and over all the customer service was good. While sitting and talking, waiting for the meal...my girlfriend squeaked... and I knew something was wrong. I asked her what was up... and she points over to the window next to us. I look, and see a small cockroach (1" long) crawling on the wall right there. Loni asked me if that was a roach, as she says she has never seen one... and I told her yes.. that is a roach. She was extremely grossed out. I got up and went and let the server know about it. After several minutes and no response, I got up.. killed the roach and grabbed it with a napkin. Then a gentleman with a beard showed up, and I showed him the roach... and he apologized and disposed of it. I acted like it was no big deal, and convinced Loni to eat her dinner (as I am / was hopeful that the kitchen does not have a roach problem!) As I said above.. the lobster was good. But the ambiance was no longer there... so the experience was not as good as it could have been. I have been to Mexico, and South America a good bit... and bugs don't really bother me as long as they are not ON the food. So I was somewhat ok with this... this is Florida after all, and we do have bugs. But Loni was really shocked and grossed out by this... so it is unlikely that we will go back. There was no further mention on the incident by the staff... no offer to comp the meal, or anything else....which would have been appreciated, to say the least. We were using a Groupon... so maybe they felt that adequate recompense? I put off writing this review for several weeks... as I really hate having to say something about a business that may impact it financially. But Yelper's have a right to know... as many are much more sensitive to an issue like this than I am. So now you know....

This is the seafood place you're looking. Affordable, generous and so delicious! DON'T go to stupid expensive chain places or similar. Instead go to Lobster Haven. They're doing it right and I expect them to become very popular. I just hope they do without sacrificing quality. Now for the review... Wow this place is really good!!. It's definitely one of those hidden gems not a lot of people know about. Found out about it after some yelp research and did not disappoint at all! I got the lobster chowder with generous pieces of meat, the lobster roll (prob one of the best I've had, the butter on the lightly toasted bread added a flavorful bite) and their Bronze bucket which topped the whole experience. Wifey got the French Quarter seafood bake and was also great! Bonus: you can also buy fresh seafood by the pound. If I'm ever in the area again, I'll definitely come back! Great job Lobster Haven!

Already lots of reviews for this place, I think I can't add any additional information than what's already there. I live across the street and prefer take out. I am in for Cajun spicy food today and got Crawfish. Way better than my last place I had.

Good, fresh seafood? Yes. Expensive? Definitely. A crab cake appetizer and 2 lobster rolls will put you back $80 (including tip) and we both had water to drink. The restaurant is no frills, but clean. We arrived at 715 on a Tuesday night and it was pretty busy. It appears as though they've recently expanded and have more tables in the adjacent unit. There is 1 server (holly) which does it all. She was busy so we had to wait a bit. She was kind enough to bring over some toasted bread. It was honestly soooo good that we asked for another basket. We started with the crab cake appetizer ($17). Honestly, I'd skip it. It wasn't Cooke enough and wasn't crispy. It was more like just soft crab on a plate. We both ordered the traditional lobster roll (the fresh one) and it cost $22 each. Pretty pricey but really good. It's served with cape cod potato chips and either cole slaw or potato salad. The roll was overflowing with fresh lobster. The bun was toasted and very fresh. I enjoyed the potato salad and the hubs had the cole slaw. All in all, this is a great place. I'd stick with just the lobster roll next time or try something different on their menu.

I can certainly understand why reviews are so conflicted for this place. We all want and crave a great lobster spot to hit in the area. We want it so much in fact, that we don't mind paying through the nose for it. Unfortunatley, this place is located on a vortex that will suck both your time, patience and money right out. It's also located in such an ugly strip mall that dining deep inside is almost required, even in Tampa's best weather. They have an area where a party could be catered although I can't even imagine what that would cost. The server is the cashier, waitress and so many other things that you'd better double up on drinks, because I almost turned into a raisin during the long wait. It's darling, and when you finally recieve the food even if you have a hot beer, no bread, no silver, no consistency and little of anything else, it's good, but I think I'll just suck up the drive next time, or head to cyber takie-outie next door.

This place rocks. It's a hole in the wall that makes amazing lobster and it's not expensive as far as lobster goes for $30 you can get a huge lobster, corn, and really good potatoes and a beer. Their clam chowder is amazing. I've never been able to make it to desert but the bread pudding looks killer. Get the lobster rolls they are delicious!!

Omg I was so impressed by the reviews of this place that I took my mom here on her transition to Florida. The food started out good - soup, salad, fish spread, but when it came to the lobster it was absolutely disgusting - dried and stale lobster tails-made me nauseous, and the shrimp were poor quality. Then the fresh blue crab cake was laden with shells and the breaking was not fully cooked - my mom is still heaving and experiencing diarrhea 2 days later - total cost of sickness=72.00. Finally they tried to give me someone else's bill ...double billing... Ugh.

The U-Conn lobster roll is absolute PERFECTION. However, the service is not great. This place is a seafood market (which sells fresh seafood, frozen seafood, and live Maine lobsters) combined with a restaurant. When I walked in I was greeted by a female worker loudly griping to a male worker about something that was not work-related. When I was acknowledged, I said it was my first time there. She said, "OK." and kept complaining. Now, I have NO IDEA what I'm supposed to do. I walked around and looked at the fish, the lobsters, the walls (for a menu) and found none. After a few minutes I said again, "I've never been here. I would like a lobster roll, but is there a menu?" A menu is shoved at me and I'm told I should go sit down. I ordered a clam chowder cup and a lobster roll. I never got the chowder. I wanted the lobster roll without potato chips and cole slaw but I "have to have it because that's how it comes". Very wasteful. Incredibly awkward process. This place would be better served to post a menu someplace, have people order at the counter, and get their own drinks. That's more Maine-like anyway. The food is absolutely worth the weirdness of trying to actually obtain some though. In regards to the food: Firstly, Lobster Haven has the proper New England-style top-split rolls which can be spread with butter and grilled. Secondly, all the meat in my roll was claw with maybe a few pieces of knuckle. ZERO pieces of cartilage or shell!! Thirdly, for all the world I believe the lobster was bathed in REAL butter, not Parkay or Whirl or some such vegetable oil based crap. Fourthly, my huge gigantic overflowing lobster roll was under $20. Consuming it was glorious. It felt like...finding several $20 bills on the ground, or scratching off a lotto ticket your trashy aunt gave you to find you'd won $50, or having a first date and thinking, "Praise the Lord! He's not an intolerable idiot!" The menu here is actually quite large, including various types of clams, lobster, crab, mussels, oysters, and variations on these. I didn't see anything for a non-seafood eater so keep that in mind. I'd really like to come back with a crew of seafood eaters and put the menu through its paces. If you're here for a lobster roll, they have the style found in Maine, which includes mayo (gag me), and also what is evidently the style served in Connecticut, which leaves the nasty mayo off and puts heavenly butter on the lobster. I've had lobster rolls all over Maine, anytime I can find one that can be had sans-Mayo. Lobster Haven's lobster roll is right up there with the best of them (and better than many). They sell live lobsters priced per pound. You can also find "chick" lobsters here. My family always said "chicks" were lobsters that were missing a claw or had a damaged claw. Some people use this term to describe a smaller lobster as well. Chick lobsters are cheaper. Be aware that the price for all the lobsters fluctuates according to the season, if they're hard-shells, soft-shells, or somewhere in between. When I visited (March 2015) the live lobsters were between $12-14 a lb, size dependent. Definitely worth the trek to Oldsmar (Safety Harbor?) to eat a lobster roll here!

I read some really mixed reviews so wasn't sure if I should give Lobster Haven a try. Today I decided to take the chance and I am so glad I did. The inside did not look like what I expected but they had some construction going on and it looked like there was a little restaurant to the side of it. As soon as I pulled up I could smell fresh seafood and walking it literally made my mouth water. They had at least 10 bins filled with live Maine lobster and a lot of other seafood choices for sale frozen or cooked. I asked the guy there what he recommended and he immediately said the lobster roll. The roll had lettuce, a special sauce they make, and a good amount of lobster with melted butter on the side. Only downfall was the sides. The only options are chips and potato salad. Wish they had some more side options like veggies or rice. Other than that...I will add that $25 lobster roll to my budget once a month lol.

Note to self: Do not come here the day after Valentines Day or any other day they may be ridiculously busy, they were out of about half if not more of everything on their menu! I really wanted to give this place 5 stars but the fact that we were limited to half of the menu I had to give them 4 instead. My fiance and I are from out of town, we were only in Tampa for 2 days and the only day we could go to Lobster Haven was the day after Valentines Day. We came in right when they opened (11am) because we were expecting a lunch rush. Well we were actually the first ones there. Located in a small strip, it's a seafood store and restaurant together in one. Our server was very nice, although she talked a little way too much. She knew the menu in and out and gave us recommendations I was just more disappointed that I couldn't try more stuff! Luckily the one item we came here for was the Lobster Roll and they had it. We started off with an appetizer, The Big Easy with Crab meat (but they ran out so substituted with fake crab), home made gauc dip on a bed of pico and fresh greens with tortilla chips to dip with. It came out fresh and so delicious! I almost couldn't tell they used fake crab meat. The dip was refreshing and appetizing. When our Lobster Roll came out it was suppose to be served with 2 sides however they ran out of chips due to Valentines day so we had to settle with just 1 side. The Lobster Roll was pure heaven. They stacked on tons of lobster to get your monies worth. It was served on a piece of toasted bread with mayonaise and lettuce. Definitely hit the spot! Overall the food was exellent, and if it weren't for the limited selection this place would have received a 5 star from me. My fiance and I had our hearts set on to try quite a few things on the menu but had to settle for only 1. I felt like this establishment should have been better prepared for such a rush. Will have to come back when they don't run out of things!

Came here on a Friday around 7 and got a table easily. You will notice the strong fish smell as soon as you walk in but hey- it's a seafood market! Basically a hole in the wall joint. The food was decent. I got the French Quarter entree and they should be ashamed to call it that! Nothing like NOLA. Pretty bland, I was hoping there would be some yummy spices on the seafood, potatoes and veggies but.... No. My fiancé got the uconn lobster roll and he gave it about a 3.5. In general........"eh." We probably won't be back. Oh but the staff were super great!!! Very accommodating and helpful :)

Don't let the exterior fool you. We sat outside the shack for 5 minutes before we finally decided to give it a chance. The exterior looks a little shady. The inside looks like an authentic seafood shack. What a great little place to eat. It's local and our service was great! It was later at night and there was no wait for our party of 8. The fish dip was quite tasty and made fresh. Loved the buttery crackers that came with it. The lobster sandwich was chalked full. Their beer selection was pretty limited. They were out of the first 3 selections we wanted. We ended up trying the Sea Dog raspberry and it was good. The key lime pie was tasty but not the best I've ever had. Highly recommend for a local option!

Lobster Haven?? Hmmm. I don`t love it but I don`t hate it either. The service was fantastic but the food kind of lost a star. I got the crab cake sandwich and clam chowder soup. Crab cake, I personally did not like it as a sandwich but by itself it was pretty good, just a tad on the sweet side in my opinion. I did not like the bread nor the potato chips but the potato salad (irony) was amazing. I kind of wish they would make their own potato chips like they make everything else homemade, it would of been interesting to see what they created with that. Clam chowder was on point and spectacular. Overall I would give this place a try again to try out the menu more, I might end up really loving this place. But for right now its okay.

Lobster Haven? More like Lobster Heaven!! Behind the counter, you can see there are bins upon bins of live lobsters, swimming and moving about. Not on ice, but in water, swimming. Large looking ones too. The restaurant was decorated with New England pieces and there are awesome mural paintings on the walls. We were seated by this girl who was our server as well. She was very personable and nice. My friend and I had ordered a bucket each, which consisted of one steamed lobster, oysters, mussels, and crawfish. Oh and an ear of corn and potatoes. Everything was delicious and was quickly devoured. Love this place.

Wow! We went Yelp - looking to find somewhere interesting for dinner. When you pull up it is a little beat down looking but lots of cars in the lot....we have learned this is a good sign. We were greeted by Nathan who was incredibly friendly and helpful, and gave us wonderful service throughout the meal. Toughest part was trying to choose which item we wanted. Food was delicious and very good portions. It is not a fancy restaurant but was cozy and friendly. Great find!

A New England style seafood joint that sells fresh seafood at good prices. This is a bucket of beer, rolled up sleeves, paper towels for napkins type of place. Be prepared to get down and dirty, but leave with a stomach full of delicious seafood. Raw oysters, clams, shrimp, and maine lobster! You name it, they got it. A few critcisms: lobster chowder was not very good. I loved that they threw whole chunks of lobster on top, but unfortunately the chowder itself was made with too much roux and was extremely thick. Additional word of warning on the lobster roll - the lobster is not mixed in with the mayo, so depending on how big of a bite you can take, you'll likely get one bite of lobster, one bite of bread with mayo. Lastly, the waitresses are very nice, albeit a bit informal and casual in their mannerisms. Food also takes a good while to come out.

I came, I ate and I was EXTREMELY happy! Got some steamed shrimp (delicious!), fresh picked lobster roll (delicious!) and washed it down with some cold beers. Is it costly? Yes, but if you want fish filet you can go to McDonalds. If you want bomb lobster rolls you come here. Lobster Haven you really set the standard for fresh seafood, now if I can only find you out here in California.

Bought a Groupon for this very casual seafood restaurant and seafood market. My wife and I both had the Maine lobster. While it was good, we were disappointed in the size of the lobster. We ordered 1 1/2 pound lobsters but got REALLY small ones (looked like less than a pound each). Lots of room but not very comfortable seating. They sell frozen fish stock as well as Green Lip Mussels from New Zealand, both of which I bought. Looking forward to trying the lobster rolls the next time.

This is my go-to place when I want lobster in any form...whether it be in some chowder, an amazing lobster roll, steamed whole...or when you're feeling lazy, lobster meat they steam and pick out for you! But whatever you do...don't leave without getting some bourbon bread pudding! I was handed a sample once(in which I nearly refused because I'm not a fan of bread pudding) and have been hooked since! Yum!!!

I'll keep this short and sweet. The seafood is fresh. It's delicious. The people are zany and humorous. And lastly, we went there twice in a row for dinner. * Get the Bluepoint oysters -- the server recommended them, and for good reason. They are so clean and fresh-tasting. * The crawfish is also delicious, full of flavor. Whatever seasoning they use is on point. * Of course, you gotta try the lobster here. I will admit, I am not the biggest lobster fan, especially in its plain steamed form. But I could tell the meat of the lobster was so sweet on its own. *I also tried the clam chowder. It was extremely creamy and thick -- so much so that the clams were kind of hidden. It was not my favorite.

I love it up in New England. I've been there a few times with family. Mostly in Mass, NH and Maine. It's hard to get great lobster like they serve in those areas. I don't go gaga over lobster like most people, but I can appreciate it. Lobster Haven does a good job of pulling it off. I liked the décor. The old fishing village look gives the place lots of charm. They have a decent selection of bottled beers. I went with the Shipyard Summer Ale. A nice light flavored pale wheat ale. It went well with my lobster roll. The lobster roll is served with Cape Cod Kettle cooked chips (possibly my favorite potato chip) and I also got potato salad, which wasn't bad. A little mustardy for my liking. The service was friendly. It took a few minutes to get acknowledged when we first arrived because the girl who seemed to be doing everything was busy helping someone. Once we got seated things went pretty smooth. There were three guys there too, but I'm not sure what they were doing because this girl ran circles around them. Thank goodness she works there. If you're in the area, and need a New England fix, this place is a good bet.

Given the reviews about the outside appearance of Lobster Haven (i.e. Hard to find and when you do find it you aren't sure you really want to go inside for a cooked meal) I thought this place was worth a shot! Sometimes the scariest of places have the best meals. In this case, I should have judged the book by its cover. When we opened the door to the restaurant there was smoke coming from the kitchen and burnt smell. First warning sign!! There was one primary guy tending to the tables. He was making good effort to provide good service to everyone, but it was clear he needed help and that there was something going on in the kitchen. I ordered the crab cakes. When they were brought out the crab cakes were burnt to black on both sides and the inside was not cooked enough. Unfortunately I will not be returning to give this place another try.

Why 5 stars? Because this is the best lobster in Tampa Bay, and for the best value. --- --- --- Ever since experiencing the best meal of my life (a hot Lobster Roll at Neptune Oyster in Boston,) I've been on the hunt to duplicate that feeling of ecstasy. This was as close as I've come taste-wise, but it's definitely the best value I've ever seen for lobster. I had so much, I could barely eat it all, and it was under $20. This cannot, and will not ever be beaten. It's a laid back vibe, with a decent beer selection, and excellent service. Our server, Megan, was a little ball of energy from the moment we arrived. She was so entertaining, it was like we had dinner and a show, but just for the price of dinner. It was a fun night. I chatted with the owner afterward, and he said he prides himself on having a more casual restaurant so that he can charge less for the lobster. I'll take a pile of Lobster for $20, over a white tablecloth any day of the week myself. So, if Lobster is you thing, there's nowhere else to look in TB. The hunt is over, and a champion is crowned.

It's a seafood store & restaurant with fresh and frozen seafood. Because I live in a large southern landlocked metro area, I had to find a great spot during my short stay in Tampa. I want to thank the other reviewers for recommending Lobster Haven. The U-Conn lobster roll was on point! My lobster meat was tender & succulent. I look forward to visit again!

I took my son here as a surprise yesterday because he is a big fan of lobster rolls. I had a Groupon coupon, and it was well worth the money. The lobster roll dint disappoint, though I'd like to try other menu items, as well. My son thoroughly enjoyed his lobster roll, too, so again, it was money well spent to see him pleased! The restaurant itself is a little short on space and ambiance. When we were there, they were slammed all at once, but the owner stepped in, apologized, got us seated, and took our order. He was humorous and kind, which took the edge off. I will visit again and this time, I'll try the steamed shrimp or crab legs... GIVE IT A TRY, ITZ WORTH IT!

If you want fresh lobster, this is your place! Located in a non-descript strip mall, I wasn't sure it was still open. Luckily for me it was! Stopped in for a crab cake sandwich and lobster roll. The lobster was really fresh but my only complaint is the use of plain mayo instead of maybe a special sauce with lemon and paprika. Would love to have some type of mayo-lemony-paprika mixture like they use in Maine. Regardless, the lobster was delish. The crab cake sandwich was also good. My fiance wished they had left it mounded up vs flattened out. The only other con is that it is a little pricey. ($15 for a lobster roll). I guess I was spoiled in Maine where you can get them fully dressed for $5 :(

We used a Groupon to go to Lobster Haven on a Sunday afternoon. Located in a stop mall, it was very small and empty. The food was very good but pricey. The staff was nice but very slow to serve. We may go back but not in a hurry.

Good little hole in the wall. If you love seafood you'll like lobster haven. The 1 1/4 lobster was very good. rockerfellers were nothing to brag about, nothing like the ones in New Orleans. The star of the course IMO was the lobster chowder, great comfort food. Service was good. The place has a Louisiana style vibe, good overall. More like 3 1/2 stars.

The food is 4 stars, everything else 2 stars, so we give it 3 and call it a day. What I can tell you is that I lived in Maine for years and the seafood here is pretty good. We had a lobster roll, boiled shrimp and scallops. The scallops taste like scallops should, not overcooked, but nothing special. The shrimp were really good with whatever boiling/seasoning bag they used, but there were too few shrimp for the price and the lobster roll was good and consistent with what I've had before. The pieces of meat were bigger, honestly, if that does anything for you. The restaurant is NOT kid friendly however. We were 2 families joining and there was no wait and it wasn't busy, but we had a table reserved for us and a 2 years old in the party was in his father's lap and he reached behind him and a huge metal decoration came down on top of the child bonking him in the head...hard. He started wailing, everyone there looked at us like we were the worst people ever. The waiter was like "did he grab it?" Well, he's 2, so probably unless the kid can move thing with his mind. Anyway, how about securing your dusty decor to the wall so people can eat in peace and not risk an ER visit. The sea soap in the bathroom is awesome, very few places I've ever been to offer that.

I have eaten maine lobster on my birthday every year since I can remember. You can imagine my disappointment moving to the bay area and discovering that most of the restaurants around here pretty much exclusively carry FL lobster (or whatever you call it) and NO, I'm sorry, it's not as good. You can sell me on grouper - that sh*t is delicious but FL lobster -- nope! So, we did some research and happened upon this place. It was a bit of a hike from us in St. Pete but it was worth it!!! I completely splurged and it was completely worth it - I got the platter with a 1.5 lb lobster, clams, mussels, and shrimp on it. We got oysters to start. And the BF got the platter with the smaller lobster, mussels, shrimp, etc but it had crawfish as well. All of our food was amazing. I mean, you don't really need to do much to seafood (specifically shellfish), that's the beauty of it! Get it fresh, steam it, and dip in butter. It's the BEST meal. I wasn't wild about the crawfish, I thought they spiced it too much but that is pretty much my only complaint. I can't wait to go back. I will definitely be bringing my fellow New England transplants here :)

Because of other reviews, we thought it was high time that we stop by here for lunch. With the salt water lobster tank smells and all of the aerators going, the atmosphere is very unique. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. They have a limited menu chocked full of lobster dishes. We had hoped for some raw oysters but the only ones available were the $15.99/dozen ones that were a bit too rich for my blood...OK, I can be rather cheap. Our fall-back appetizer was the smoked fish spread. It was a nice smokey heap of spread dusted with cayenne . Most wonderfully, the Club Crackers were not in individual wrappers! Our waitress also brought some toasted bread slices to slather on more fish spread. As soon as we were through with the spread, our lobster rolls arrived. At first, they looked a bit smallish but awesome, nonetheless. The plate came with crisp potato chips and your choice of either slaw or potato salad and we got the potato salad. The roll was piled with goodly sized portions of lobster and two complete pieces of claw meat. It also had a small swipe of mayonnaise on the roll as well as a lettuce leaf on a nicely toasted square bun. The taste of the lobster was delicate, texture firm and visually ideal. I would have asked for a lemon wedge to squeeze on it but all in all, it was tasty. Please check the on-line menu before you go because you could have a bit of 'sticker shock' from the prices. Do not think that you are going to get a fancy lobster dinner here. It is a great casual, get-your-shirt-dirty kind of dining experience. Please give it a try!

The lobster was definitely fresh. The lobster wrap was good, however, pico was over powering the lobster. The lobster roll was okay, smaller than anticipated. I had much better lobster rolls up north.

Lobster Haven Shanty and Market needs to rename themselves Lobster HEAVEN because this place is phenomenal for seafood lovers! This place looks and feels like a little Maine lobster shack -- not too fancy on the outside, but incredibly delicious food on the inside. Lobster Haven is located in a non-descript little strip mall along W. Hillsborough Avenue in Oldsmar. You'll find the restaurant / seafood market in between the shopping center with the Super Target (Montague Street) and the shopping center with the Lowes, Publix, and Cracker Barrel (Race Track Road). It's best to use your GPS the first time you visit as you can easily sail by without spotting the sign. I remember this store from years ago when they were in a small standalone building directly across the street from the Oldsmar Flea Market. They've now moved south just a bit, and set up shop at this new location. Lobster Haven is both a seafood market as well as a seafood restaurant, and it is a great place to find fresh shellfish and seafood in the NW corner of Hillsborough County. You'll find live Maine lobsters, shrimp, clams, mussels, oysters, crawfish, and crab (Dungeness, Snow, King, and Stone). Sometimes they also have blue crabs and garlic crabs, but you should call ahead to double check. You'll also find fresh and frozen seafood ready to toss on the grill. The lobster is flown in LIVE from Maine, and you can walk over to the tanks to see the happy little crustaceans scrambling around for your viewing pleasure. Now in addition to that, Lobster Haven is an outstanding little seafood restaurant with Lobster and Clam Chowda (New England style, of course!), crab cakes, smoked fish spread, shrimp cocktail, shrimp baskets, peel 'n eat shrimp, Ahi tuna, scallops, salmon, fish tacos.........and then we have the lobster...... *insert choirs of singing angels here* You'll find lobster rolls made with huge chunks of lobster meat in a top-split bun, lobster (or crab) wraps, Lazy Man Lobster (hand picked lobster meat spread out on top of crackers), and then you've got your choice of 4 different styles of Lobster Haven Shanty Buckets o' Lobster with ever-increasing amounts of shellfish to go along with your freshly-steamed lobster, ear of corn, seasoned red potatoes, and a fluffy Parker House roll. Now by freshly-steamed lobster, I mean that the guy came out of the kitchen, picked the lobster out of the tank, walked it back into the kitchen, and a bit later out came my Bucket of Steamed Shellfish. I had the Silver Bucket which was a steamed 1 1/2 pound Maine lobster, Middle neck clams, sautéed Black Mussels, Steamed Shrimp and Crawfish along with the corn, potatoes, and a roll. I forced myself to start the meal with a cup of their amazing lobster chowder which had big chunks of potatoes and lobster in a thick & creamy New England style stock. You can buy everything live and take it home to cook it, or you can kick back with a nice cold beer and let them do the work for you. Make it a point to go visit these folks soon!!!

Restaurant is part of a sea food market, simple seating and no nonsense service. If you love lobster, this is the place for it! Had the special - a lobster for $9.99 - special may not last long. Regular lobster menu from around $30.

This little hole in the wall is so easy to miss, even when you are looking for it. It is outdated, run down, has no atmosphere, but the seafood it has is fresh, delicious and perfectly prepared. There is no huge menu, whatever is fresh that day and everyday includes Maine lobster. Lobster is on of those items if undercooked its chewy and not real flavorful. If overcooked it gets mushy and dry. Rest assured, at this establishment they know what they are doing and they do it well. I indulged in the twin lobster tails served with warm butter, not clarified, but if the lobster is great and sweet, who cares. The dish was served with quartered red potatoes with butter and a fresh coleslaw. A simple menu, for a simple restaurant, that does what they know, to perfection. Once you go, yah gotta love it! What's a girl to do? One tail or 2?

Great quality of products there. The variety in the market isn't that big, but what they have is great! It's one of the few places in Tampa that sells fresh crawfish when in season. Prices are pretty good too for what you get!

Had the special tonight- 2, 1lb lobsters with corn for $19.99. Added potatoes for $1 and crab legs for $8.99. Worth every penny. Everything was delicious. Thank you Lobster Haven for making my birthday dinner so awesome. We will definitely be back!

This is a great fresh fish market/lobster shack! If you want fancy this isn't the place for you! Styrofoam plates and lots of lobster! Jessica rocked at customer service! I shot a claw across the restaurant (NEWB) and she brought a new claw! Try the crab cakes and bread pudding.

Ahhh the Lobster Haven... I'm a fan and here's why... Going back to when I used to live in Montreal, Canada, we would always have lobster maybe twice a month. So from a young age I had the love for them. Fast forward having lived in NorCal (Bay Area) and SoCal now (Los Angeles County), fresh lobster is not really all that fresh(Maine lobster), I mean, it has to travel next day air if it were really fresh. So since I am here(business) on the East coast, even though it's southern East coast, I might as well have some lobster from Maine. Right? That is one of the check boxes in my "to do list". Just as how I tell my friends from other states, that if you're ever in California, go to a real taqueria (Tsk-tsk for Yelp to have the spell check 'red underline' for the word "taqueria", I'm almost offended here...) yeah so like I was saying, a real taqueria and not some place called Taco John's that I have run into in some states when the locals tell me it's authentic... not that Taco John's is a bad place, hey if that's what you got then, roll with it. My point is, if you can't get to the source, then at least be in the right time zone, can I get a high five then a chest bump here?! So back to Lobster Haven, you can have the lobster fresh, or re-fresh. If you know about seafood, then you know about the differences in freshness. A little secret for you, sushi grade fish is usually frozen for a brief time to kill off parasites. You can have it freshly made, if you get it from the fish market when it comes off the boat, then take to your favorite sushi spot and have them go at it for you, but it's custom to let them have some as well since they are doing you the favor. For lobster, they are shipped 'live' and the packages are ventilated. Unless they are frozen and then completely boxed. Shipping in a huge container and temp controlled trucks/semis are the best. Have you seen the prices for temp controlled next day air?! You'd probably have to own a business that specializes in Lobster.... errr yeah, like lobster haven... LOL... can't believe i just did that merry-go-round- thing with a lobster tangent right back into my review... mad skillz. Okay, so the current price for the cup of lobster chowda is now $8, which means that it doubled and i guess that's what happens when the season is not as strong or in season. This is the reason my review is giving a 4 star rating and not a 5. The price is up there, and that sucks because we always get the bowl of lobster chowda, the lobster roll, and an order of a dozen blue points oysters. Let me tell you that one order of each will put you into the $50 range with tax and all that rounding off. So my friend an I ordered a lobster chowda bowl and lobster roll each and then shared the bluepoints oysters. Pretty much came up to just under $100 after round up, maybe with tax and all that. It was well worth the money. I would go there again tomorrow if I lived in the area. They also have beers and wines there and I always wanted to try the smoked fish spread but i guess that will have to wait. The service there has always been very good to us and the wait time for food has never been too bad. If it's crowded, then a bit of a wait since the staff is only 3 at most I have seen, but grab a beer and go peruse the frozen and fresh section, OMG i saw a huge lobster tail that I dared not ask the price. Careful though, even though you get a bigger tail, the taste will not be the same. Now if you have garlic butter, then it doesn't matter, because it will taste buttery good. Best time to go is either when they open or the off hours like 2pm. Maybe doing this review was not the best at this time, because now I'm craving it again and I just ate there for lunch today... ahhhh

Very low key location for the price you pay, very quaint and bland interior. However, they do give you large portions of lobster. I had the lobster roll, and it does overflow with fresh lobster, not cheap, $21.99 but I think I had a whole lobster in it, the toasted roll was also good. My only complaint is that for the price you pay they can give you something other them potato chips and stale potato salad to accompany the meal. We also had the bronze bucket of lobster, mussels, clams, shrimp, corn and red potatoes. Good size lobster, we loved it. good value for $34.99, but they need to strain the butter as the top of the butter is not appealing. One more dish that we had was the Maui glazed salmon, that was excellent ! Best salmon dish that I had in tampa. Again, the only complaint are the sides, red potatoes and corn. Please ad rice, vegetables, something! Desert was so so bread pudding. The service was friendly, nice waitress. Well worth it, I'll be back.

Walked in at 7:40pm, several tables of folks, excited to try this place based on all the great reviews in Yelp... Was promptly told by the waitress that the kitchen was closed. So we left... :-/ not sure I'll go back. It's a shame because I live really close to this place and drive by it everyday.

Amazing fresh seafood. Great staff. They are honest and will tell you what is "fresh and in season" and what is not. If you want great seafood...come here...if you want atmosphere...don't come here. It is basically a seafood market with tables...but that works for me!

I wrote this on another blog & thought I would post it here as well. I am an employee of Lobster Haven & I have been for a number of years. I love it there. We have a great staff & my employer is awesome. I also have had the pleasure of waiting on many, many, many of our guests. I love my job. Yes, there are days we are short handed & Yes, there are days the food comes out slower than normal. However, where else can you go that you can pick your 3# Lobster right out of the tank?? Where else can you go that you can get fresh Steamer Clams?? If you don't want a Lobster roll with mayo & lettuce order the Uconn, hot, buttered, fresh, lobster meat, I tell people that It's not FAST FOOD, it's FABULOUS FOOD and if you have had the pleasure of dining with us, you know it is well worth the WAIT. Come dine with us!!! It's well worth the wait, if there is a wait.

Expensive, good lobster, but not great. If you've ever had Maine lobster which is sweet and so tender and juicy it seems to melt in your mouth, that would be a five. In comparison, this lobster is a three at best.

Whilst visiting family on vacation, the wife found this hidden place when searching for "lobster roll". This business serves everything from lobster tails, crab legs, squid, and even frog legs; and yes they even have a lobster farm! Talk about fresh! When we ordered 2 Lobster Rolls, the employee started de-shelling freshly cooked lobster right there, and in 10 minutes lunch was served! We will definitely be coming back here again!

This is a review I really hate to write. I so wanted to LOVE this place. But, alas not on this evening. The store: It's located in a small strip mall on the north side of W. Hillsborough Ave in Town and Country. It has the feel of a Cape Cod seafood market, which sells and serves what they catch. They have large tanks which hold the delicate creatures of the the cold waters of New England. They have a half dozen tables in the market section, also a adjacent room handles the overflow. Very casual place, it has a come as you are feel to it. The food: We checked out the menu on the Yelp site, so we knew what we wanted as soon as we sat down. Which btw was very much appreciated by our server Megan. My Bride and I both ordered the lobster roll, she with the lobster chowda, I with the clam chowda. The lobster roll was a New England style roll lightly buttered and toasted. Lettuce and some mayo and loaded with lobster. The best lobster roll south of Cape Cod Massachusetts! The lobster chowda tasted OK somewhat sweet, which was odd. What it was lacking was, lobster. Very little lobster, which was a disappointment. The clam chowda was actually too thick. It was just short of being congealed, and rather lacking in flavor. Another disappointment. The accompanying cole slaw was rather good. Cold and crunchy. Service: Lets just say sporatic. Megan was very pleasant and bubbly, but at times seemed over whelmed with the three tables that were occupied. She made up for this with her great personality though. Uninvited guests: We and the other diners were besieged by FLIES, large dive bombing flies! We complained about them and were told that the flies come from behind the store where the shucked oster shells were. When they open the back door of the kitchen they invade. Well, keep the freaking back door closed!!!!! They totally ruined the evenings dinner, totally. Overview: Due to their fly problem this should be a 2 star rating. But, because of the great value of the meal we'll give it a 3 star rating, with the hope that they will take care of the flies. We have paid up to $25.00 for a lobster roll at Legal Seafood in the Boston area, for a lot less lobster than here. So it really is a great value. We look forward to our next visit.

Disappointing. Went in excited to try a new place that specializes in lobster. Splurged and had 1.5 lb lobster and the lobster roll. BOTH had no flavor and both with texture of rubber; Couldn't eat even half. Wasn't cheap and far from the quality expected at that (or any) price. To top it off, although barely any diners inside, service was slow. Won't go back.

My new place for all that is lobster. My wife and I were looking for a new place and found this jewel. Reasonably priced and fresh. We started off with a bowl of lobster chowder and fish spread. The chowder was thick and full of lobster, nice size bowl, great for sharing. The spread was also very tasty and had the right tang with every bite. The main courses were full of different flavors that would satisfy even the pickiest of eaters. The twins speak for themselves for any lobster lovers. Steamed to perfection with a no nonsense approach. The bronze pot was also spot on with corn, potatoes, shrimp, clams, mussels and the main event. Service was good and friendly waitress made us feel at home. Only con was that I originally ordered sea scallops and it took about ten minutes after I ordered to be told that they were out. Bummer at first, but the bronze pot made up for it.

Food was excellent, server was good. Had purchased a groupon ($35 off bill) earlier that day, as we were leaving town the next day. When we went to pay the bill, the server told us that she couldn't find our groupon and we had to write down the voucher number for her. A few minutes later, the manager came to the table and said "your groupon isn't in our system so you can't use it" and walked away. We had the email with the confirmation so went back to the register to ask about it. Again, the manager was very rude and just said "what does your groupon say- it says you have to have a reservation" and walked away again. So, yes, the fine print said reservations required, but this is not the type of place I can see anyone making a reservation, and they never mentioned that until they couldn't find it in the system. Also, I would have been fine with this if the manager had handled it politely. His immediate aggressive attitude was very insulting and made it ver uncomfortable to the other guests who weren't paying for the bill.

This is one of those places where you're on a quest. Lobster. Specifically Maine Lobster. You walk in, and sound/smell/staff/service are all pointed at "you came here for ONE DAMN THING,' now order it already. So you do. You sit, wait, and eventually order. Ignore a waitress using a corkscrew on a screw-top bottle (to be fair, she'd had a lot of tables and it was 30 minutes to closing). Spend some time examining the tanks of seafood over there behind the counter, notice there is no fishy smell at all, just clean ocean brine. Browse the menu, pick out typos if you're the type, sip your beer and relax. Impressively soon a Lobster Roll shows up. I make it about 4oz of excellent lobster, one lettuce leaf, one smear of mayo on the proper roll. Cold, not warm, but melted butter is poured over it upon serving. You can have them hold the butter, if you're that flavor of person. I am not. Listen. It's not about the ambiance, the speed of some 'should be a stripper but they're here with clothes on instead,' the wine list, or some amusing flourish of sauce and plating. This is not SideBerns/Edison/Mise/Six Tables/Datz. This is simply the best place to get lobster in the Greater Tampa area. Walk in with proper expectations, and you're in for an excellent time.

Unbeknownst to me, the weekday hours are listed differently on their website than on the door. My fiancé and I decided to stop by one night and we thought we had an hour and 20 min until they closed but in reality they were ready to close in 20min. Instead of offering to maybe give us our food to go, the waitress proceeded to wait on us with the worst attitude ever. I've been a repeat customer and love the food but with as many great restaurants as there are in the area, there is no room for crappy customer service.

The service was so bad that we got up and walked out. Ditsy girl had no idea how to be a server while the place was not busy at all. Didn't even get to order and we had been sitting for 20 minutes. Do not go here!

Since the unfortunate departure of Monstah Lobstah in South Tampa (no fault to the owner, Alan, who was paying rent to the landlord who was inadvertently hoarding the money and not paying his mortgage so the building got foreclosed on with no notice to Alan), we have been searching for a true New England replacement. Lobster Haven did not disappoint. 5 stars for ambiance. True, authentic, New England decor. 4 stars for the lobster chowdah. Awesome chunks of lobster meat, however, the chowder itself was way too thick. 4 stars for the UCONN style lobster roll; it was a smaller roll than anticipated, but there was a decent amount of lobster meat on the roll. A big improvement would be french fries instead of kettle chips. 4 stars for the fish tacos. The sauce was killer. The fish was fresh.

Overall I have to give this an AOK and not a higher score. The price/value of the 1lb love Main lobster (2/$20) is unequalled in the area. Delicious. On the menu, however, are lobster rolls in 2 styles--the traditional mayo and the garlic/olive oit/butter. They are further offered as fresh (live lobster) or re-something'd (previously frozen--can't remember the actual term on the menu. We ordered one of the latter. If you go, don't order the re-something'd---tasted like cardboard. One other item--we ordered and found out afterwards about the 2/$20 so if your server doesn't speak up, ask.

Average Lobster price. Lobster was very fresh but one of the dining areas that was full of lobsters was kinda stinky. Had to break their waiter/waitress rotation to sit on the opposite side of the restaurant. The inside leaves a lot to be desired and the location is kind of weird. I wouldn't mind spending an extra 4-5 dollars on Lobster if they made table, decoration, etc upgrades. Too divey for me, probably wont be back because it's far from where I live (had to try this place due to the ratings on yelp) but the lobster was pretty good.

I can't believe that I've lived around the corner from this place and never tried it until tonight. Excellent seafood; the lobsters are imported from Maine and are very tasty. The lobster roll is recommended. The staff were very patient and friendly. It's not the place for ambiance, but for good seafood, look no further.

I've been here a couple times. They have impressed me each time. You can get a New England style seafood bake - Maine lobster and all - for only $26! It tastes amazing as well.

Great seafood! Super reasonable prices! It's a market that added a restaurant and I love the value & quality of food!

Another great meal for the family tonight. Lobster rolls that make you think you're in Cape Code and a lobster chowder that's a meal all by it's self all served with a warm welcome from Dan the owner and of course Megan's friendly humor. Don't let the appearance fool you this is the best lobster and sea food you'll get

I have driven past this store probably over 100 times, always said I wanted to go in, and never have. I recently went, and I have to say, the quality of the sea food is out of this world. They mainly deal in shellfish, although I saw fish for sale and pies. I decided to order 2 dozen fresh clams. The quality of the clams was amazing. Every clam was alive when cooked and opened just like they are supposed to. They tasted great and I have been at places right off the beach that didn't offer sea food for this great of a price that was that fresh. Now, Lobster Haven also has a small restaurant inside. While I did not actually have time to sit down and order, I did check out some of the Lobster rolls that they were preparing. I can tell you now, the first opportunity I get to go in and have some, I will be all over it. I highly recommend Lobster Haven for anybody who wants great fresh seafood at an amazing price.

Why has everyone not found this place yet? Most amazing seafood in Tampa Bay. Lobster roll to die for, awesome steamed shrimp and a lobster chowder that is heaven in a cup. A must do if you are up that way!

When your craving seafood this is the place to go! A bit pricy but it is seafood so it's expected. Crab Cakes are delicious. I ordered lazy man Lobster so I didn't have to work for my food. Waitress has been there for years she was great.

As a native New Englander - longtime Florida transplant myself, having been raised and brought up with these cold water crustaceans among the many other seafood delicacies, forever shaping my palate and spoiling me to anything else calling itself a Lobster. (Yes, You...Florida/Caribbean Spiny Lobster or perhaps shall I just call you a Giant Crayfish!?!) I have been a repeat and loyal customer at Lobster Haven for almost 2 years running now, since my office is just down the road. Lucky Me! I am always at my happiest when I know I can rely on an Authentic New England Seafood Market/Shanty near me. Oh and did I mention Affordable?!?! I can't think of a visit where the Lobster Haven staff has not been helpful in assisting me in plucking out my Lobsters from one of their many tanks along with their fresh Ipswich Steamer Clams just chillin' in their very own cozy tanks. They'll steam them up for you right there should you choose, bring them home or relax at one of the few tables within this Lobster Shack or in their newer room to accommodate a larger party. Among the traditional New England staples such as Ipswich Clams, Maine Lobster, Sea Scallops, Cod, Haddock &/or freshly made Clam Chowder, etc... They carry a ridiculous variety of other fresh and frozen Seafood from our Gulf Coast Region, i.e.; Spiny Lobster Tails, Key West Pink Shrimp, Royal Red Shrimp, Grouper, Snapper, Redfish, Mahi Mahi, Jumbo Prawns, etc... I also count on them during Crawfish season when I have a frequent craving for Spicy Louisiana Crawfish...And..Well.. Once again, they do not disappoint there either! $5.99 per lb last time I picked some up. (FYI - Just 1 week ago) This place is a MUST for all seafood lovers and for those seeking a taste of New England, I'll just say how very grateful I am to have this establishment in town - much more convenient then having fly up north every time I desire a taste of Boston!

Came across this restaurant from my news feed on Yelp and bookmarked it for a later date. Well it was dinner night and my wife and I decided to choose this place for the night. The restaurant is kind of in the middle of nowhere but don't let it fool you- the food is great. We were waited on by a new girl who had just started that was very sweet and nice. We both had a lobster roll but mine was cold and my wife had a hot one which were both excellent in their own way. I thought the price was high though for what you get. We also shared the chowda which was probably the best we have had and that was worth every penny! We noticed another table having the twin sisters which were 2 lobsters with fixings which seemed great for the price which we will try next time. Don't know how often we will come here as the prices are high but you get quality food! You can also purchase lobsters and other seafood here also if you would like to make it at home.

So glad we stopped into this little place. I love seafood markets that also have a little restaurant area because I always get delicious, fresh food at great prices -- this place was no exception. I split the "Twins" (twin lobsters) with hubby and it came with a huge pile of the most flavorful roasted red potatoes ever! The corn was also nice and sweet. What a great deal at $26! We also enjoyed the Oysters Rockefeller as our appetizer. If I'm ever that way again, I will definitely be back!

This fish market was recommended by my neighbor. It specializes on selling live Maine lobsters at wholesale price. The owner used to run wholesale business so he knows how to choose the best seafood. If you prefer prepare your own seafood dishes, you should try this shop. Friday is the best day to shop for fish. I bought some crayfish. Mannnn, good stuff! On Friday, I went back and bought few 1 pound red snappers. These fishes were excellent. They also serve soup, sandwich, seafood bucket and steam lobsters on site. It looks good but I skipped because the place smell like fish ;(. After all, it is a fish market. But if you don't mind, you will enjoy the fresh steamed lobster plate. You just need to imagine you are on the beach. Check their website before you go. lobsterhaven.com .

We traveled 1100 miles from bucks county, Pa. We have been checking out the reviews a week prior to our visit. We stayed in Clearwater and it was well worth the 30 minutes trip. A little very down homy type of place, with little atmosphere. Don't be fooled by the looks... But the lobster meal we had was super well worth it. We had two lobster bisque cups. Every spoon full had a large pieces of lobster chunks. It was excellent. Then we both had the lobster roll sandwich. Although the bread is not like Philadelphia quality, the lobster made up for it. The price did not out way the quality. A must do. At least once.

Had lobster roll here for lunch and it was full of lobster claw and knuckle meats. Tasted very fresh too. Good for the price.

I was craving seafood in a big way this afternoon and Lobster Haven hit the spot. There is nothing pretentious about Lobster Haven- simple decor, meat case in the front, lobster tanks in the back. The owner is from Maine, and while I wouldn't call the place a haven of Southern Hospitality, everyone was nice and helpful. The owner even took a few minutes out of his time to give me an update on the large stock of lobsters in place. The food we had was simple- 1 1/2 lb lobsters. There was no arguing the quality of the seafood as it all had the sweetness that indicates freshness. These crustaceans were cooked well as the meat held together and yet avoided that stringiness. The presentation was clean. Overall, it was well worth the price paid. Really, there are no complaints when it comes to Lobster Haven. They are a simple seafood shack modeled after the places up north, and they have accomplished that perfectly.

During our last summer vacation , we are visiting an big Flea Market and my favourite Aquarium shop (P.S. Coral Corral at Oldsmar - Tampa) , when we have found this little fish restaurant (please ... don't alert my aquarium fish I am a great "fish eater".... =) . The fish is very fresh and the food is very good , price is cheaper and the quality and flavour GREAT !!! Next year I will return here with all my family !! I promise !

Don't be discouraged by the exterior look! Food was fresh and delicious. Had the oyster Rockefeller for an appetizer and it was the best I've ever had. Cheese and bacon make it extra special. For an entree I ate the crab cake appetizer and it was fresh and a little sweet, I would have liked it to have bigger crab pieces. My boyfriend had the lobster roll which he enjoyed. Our server Megan was fantastic! Would definitely go back again when we are visiting the area.

The reviews we read before coming in were outstanding, so naturally we were excited. Our experience was disappointing. The server was great but the food took 30+ minutes to come out (chowder and a lobster roll), we were the only people in the restaurant. The prices were high, $41 for two for lunch and the quality was that of a 2-3 star ranking not a 4.5... Maybe you should buy the seafood here and take it home and cook it yourself.

Great chowder and Lobster roll. However the mussels were very bad tasting. At least you can buy seafood here so that makes up for it!

I had the lobster chowder it was delicious definitely real lobster. My friend and I split the lobster roll and it was okay. The lobster isn't seasoned but it did have a flavor but I was expecting lobster wrapped in bread like a lobster pretzel (lol) wasn't expecting a sandwich and it wasn't that big. I think instead of mayonnaise they could use another sauce and not lettuce. I' not sure I would have made it different. The serve was nice, wasn't busy stayed past closing just chatting and they did not bother us. Every thing is fried so not my exact diet but I may go again.

Stopped by for lunch (AGAIN). I would have gone to a New England tradition, the lobster roll, but felt a little adventurous, and went for the lobster wrap with pico de gallo & a spicy mayo. Can I say, YUM! The lobster had a touch of lemon that really helped bring out the flavor, & it was nice and chunky... not overdressed. It was served in a standard flour tortilla with kettle chips and a vinegar touched cold slaw. If I were you, I wouldn't wait until you were in the area to stop by. It's worth the trip & you can bring home a few live lobsters to boot!

Our favorite place for seafood. The lobster and clam chowder are both amazing and a must get. Everything is fresh and to be honest we haven't has a bad meal. This is a laid back place with great service and food. Worth the drive

Tasty! The lobster chowder was amazingly good - creamy and richly flavored with lobster. Nice selection of cold water lobster and at reasonable prices. They've been open for 8 years and seems to be very supported by the community. If only they opened a satellite location in South Tampa or even Seminole Heights...

We've been here for their all you can eat lobster, lobster rolls, chowder, and MD style blue crabs. All delicious! MD blue crabs with old bay seasoning are hard to find in Tampa and would be ideal if they served them more often as they do a great job preparing them. Their "Big Easy" dip - layered with guacamole, tomatos, and crab is awesome!

Good place to buy live lobsters and oysters. Sometimes they have a great price on fresh lobsters $9.99 lb for 1-1 1/4 lb size lobsters. Dining there, is a different story. I've had a lobster roll with a side of coleslaw and could not eat it. It had so much mayo, that I could not even taste the lobster meat. The next day t felt sick, I still can not forget this taste.

Great fresh seafood. Great lobster roll that was pure lobster not a bunch of mayo. They have their own smoked fish, also very good. VERY reasonable prices for such good fresh food. Not fancy, just good seafood. Also very friendly wait staff. Easy to pass by, I recommend you stop.

So when you aren't in a place where you could actually hear somebody say the word Chowder - or you aren' looking for the Keys to the Caa then this is just about as close as you will get to having a live Maine Lobster that actually looks healthy instead of the poor excuse that you would see in the seafood section of the grocery store. On top of that in the restaurant section you can get everything from a few pound lobster to shrimp to steamed clams. What I am telling you is this is a seafood market with the best claws in town and some of the best seafood in the area.

Went to Lobster Haven today for a lobster roll, but instant had all you can eat blue crabs. You receive a bowl of she crab soup which was thick and creamy with little pieces of crab could use more crab but was very good. Then you received 1 small deviled crab. I don't know much about deviled crab this is something I don't really eat. It was a lot of breading some spice and their maybe little bits of crab in their. Top with sriracha. It was ok. Then came out the big platter of Blue Crab. They start you out with 8 nice size Blue Crabs. They were really good first time having them with old bay seasoning my favorite are butter and garlic. I had 7 males and 1 female, but the males are the best! Nice and sweet and a little firm. They also come with 3 half pieces of corn that were also sweet and tender. I was getting a little full but I wasn't expecting to have all you can eat Blue Crabs for lunch, but I did order 4 more. And they were all males too. Tender and sweet. $15.99. My dad ordered the Lobster Roll. Which is what I came for! He's first roll. The roll was served the traditional way lightly buttered and toasted hot dog bun. Lobster meat was mixed with very little mayo and the bun had a strip of lettuce on it. Served with chips and mayo slaw. $14.99. He enjoyed it very much. Also liked the slaw too. He liked it so munch he didn't even offer me a bite. What a father? HAHA Check out my pictures at ShancesFoodTour.blogspot…

We had company in from out of town who wanted lobster. We found the reviews for Lobster Haven and thought we would give it a try. We were not disappointed. The waitress was fantastic and we had a great time. The four of us each ordered the twins which were fantastic. If you are looking for fresh lobster at a good price, in a friendly casual attire establishment, this is the place.

Great fresh clams, shrimp, and lobster. While I continue to regularly shop at Lobster Haven, the employees that work here are not at all friendly, in fact, they often act like it is an imposition to wait on you. I do think that probably turns some people off to the point of coming here once, and not returning.

Probably the best lobster I've eaten in many years. Price was fantastic, decor and atmosphere wonderfully casual. Our server, Meagan was overworked but very pleasant and efficient. Well worth the visit, a real gem worth a return visit many times over!

Took the wife and kiddo here for a Saturday nite dinner and we loved it! Casual and laid back market / dining room and a super friendly staff make you feel at home immediately... And it's BYOB! The seafood was simple and fresh and well prepared and the prices very reasonable... Lobster is king here but the shrimp and shellfish were excellent as well... We'll be back for sure!

I found this place on Google, was visiting from out of town. Its kind of like a fish market with New England seafood. They had lobster, steamers, etc plus local seafood. They also have a dine-in area. We dined in and had lobster. Prices were great, as in it was cheaper to get a sit-down lobster dinner here than it would be to go to a local grocer and get lobster to steam at home. They had a huge number of live lobsters, ranging from small chicks to over 4lb'ers. Largest selection of live lobsters I've ever seen outside of New England. Staff was super-friendly. Their chowders are totally awesome, just like in New England. The prices were wholesale, close to what you'd pay in New England. Large selection of seafood. Highly recommend this place. Wish I lived closer, I'd definitely be a regular customer.
