The only problem with a DELICIOUS LUNCH is that you want to nap rather than work. Ordered a pulled pork sandwich with hot BBQ sauce and corn fritters. Holy Hog BBQ has wonderful tasting BBQ and it is very filling. The sandwich will do you just right for lunch, anything more you really might fall asleep from satiation. I ordered a side of corn fritters. Deep fried with light powdered sugar on top. They really complimented the pulled pork. I ordered online and got a 10% discount. The Henderson/South Tampa location has a drive up window that is very convenient. The staff was friendly and the prices are decent for the high quality of food. I will definitely be back often.

The Point of No Return I can't really say how we ended up here seeing as how the family & I have cut pork out of our diet, but hey shhh happens! After moving into our house, burning over 3,000+ calories, having no pots or pans in sight--we decided to drive around to find some bbq. We decided to drive through a few lights & then yelped to find the closest BBQ place from our current location & thought--Holy s it is! What I Liked I appreciated the fact that this place had a drive thru because my feet were very sore. I also appreciate the fact that military receives a 15% discount which was shocking because you can hardly find a place to give you 10% so that was great. Not only that, but kids eat absolutely free on Tuesdays (as long as you dine in). For the Food of it All My husband ordered ribs with fried okra & jalapeño Mac & Cheese. Still trying to avoid pork, I ordered smoked turkey breast with sweet potato soufflé & jalapeño Mac & Cheese & an Arnold Palmer. The kids ordered chicken tenders (fries) & a kids' rib basket (fries). Honestly, I did not enjoy my smoked turkey. The smokey flavor--was definitely there but the seasoning was M.I.A. My daughter & husband enjoyed their ribs & I did taste a piece which was good (especially with the Carolina sauce). The Arnold Palmer was also worth trying oh and the Mac and Cheese--the jalapeño Mac and Cheese--definitely for Spicy Lovers only! If you don't like spicy--get their regular Mac and Cheese. It was delicious & spicy like I like it. Why I'll Be Back Sometimes if I order food from somewhere and I end up not liking what I ordered--I will tell others about it and never return. No second chances when it comes to food, but that's not the case this time. Sure, I did not like my turkey, but everything else that I ordered and my family ordered was good. Not only was their food good, but this lady named Candy gave us the best customer service experience ever! She let us know before ordering that they were completely out of chicken (which was what we wanted). She also restated our order to us & informed us of the "kids eat free" on Tuesday if we come in instead of continuing to order at the drive thru. We explained that we just moved and were too tired to come in but we appreciated her informing us. We ordered & was amazed that they honored the "kids eat free" although we ordered from the drive thru & that along with Candy establishing a rapport & keeping us informed is definitely why I'll be back! #gotryitforyourself #letmeknowwhatyouthink

The first time we visited here we thought they did a very good job, none of us had any complaints. However, yesterday we ate here once again. 3 sandwhiches and 3 drinks = $40. The pulled pork was almost as good as the first trip, but the other two "Turkey and Pork" sandwhiches had a ton of very thick fat on them, so much, that when we finally cut it all off, only half of the sandwiches remained. This was "way too much" to pay for what we bought. A friend of mine ate here this week too, he complained that a small plate of burnt ends ("which were very good") and a beer, was a hair under $20!... I'm buying a barbecue.

I love the BBQ here. I get to go orders at least twice a month. The location is convenient for me, the service is fast, friendly staff and above all great food!!

Really solid bbq joint. You order at the counter--one meat and two sides. The desserts looked good, but I didn't try them. I had the sliced ham and jalapeño mac n'cheese and sweet potatoes. The ham was good, nothing out of the ordinary. The jalapeño mac n'cheese was above average. The sweet potatoes were good, but could have used a bit more cinnamon. There was also a pretty good selection of microbrews. I'd like to go back and get their bbq. Be ready to sit outside!

I stopped by here on the way home yesterday because my Fiance has been craving burnt ends. I ordered the burnt ends meal with collards and green beans and the rib dinner with corn nuggets and baked beans. As soon as I was handed the bag, I knew something wasn't right because I was holding it with one finger and I thought to myself...this seems awfully light. My suspicions were proved true as I opened the 2 boxes when I got home. One box had three small containers. One container had a few chunks of burnt ends, one had a scoop of collards and the other had some canned green beans. There was also a piece of garlic bread that looked and tasted as if it were previously frozen. This is not the amount of food I remember from eating at Holy Hog locations prior, and I was very disappointed with this $14 meal. My rib dinner was even more of a let down. My box literally had 4 ribs smaller than my middle finger. That's no exaggeration. Plus, they were very fatty and offered minimal amounts of actual smoked meat. The corn nuggets were awesome, and I'm very glad they offer them as a side, but the baked beans were as canned as their green beans. Just bland and boring. This visit left me no real reason to come back and I can pass on the burnt ends if they're going to ration them out like it's the depression. There are too many good BBQ joints in the area to consider coming back here again.

Why 3 stars??? Well, it's average at best. Today we picked up 2lbs of burnt ends, 1lb of sausage to-go, a squeeze bottle of the Carolina sauce and one of the hot sauces. Once home, we eagerly dived into it. Upon our first bite, we both looked at each other and said......"what's with all the hype?" I found the burnt ends to be a little sweet. And as for the Hot BBQ sauce....there is nothing hot about it!! The sausage I found unremarkable. Please understand, nothing tastes bad....it's just not something I will ever crave. As for the price points, I do find them to be very high. For what I told you we ordered...our bill was over $50.00. I know I am breaking the norm by posting this review but I do believe in posting my own experience/opinion.

Not very good barbecue. The slab of ribs was tender and nicely smoked, but the flavor was odd. The slab was smaller than average. The sauces were average, and for whatever reason came in tiny plastic tubs. The cole slaw had no flavor except raw cabbage. The dressing was watery and had no taste. The baked beans just tasted like green pepper. The sauce was thin, not rich. The slab came with no sides or bread. The sides were very expensive for their size. This is not real BBQ. This is some sort of pretend "gourmet" fussy BBQ. For real BBQ go to BJ's Alabama BBQ, nearby. There is no comparison. Further, here you get a lot less for a lot more money, not a good value.

Food was cold, meat tasted like it had been cooked waaaay earlier, sides were really greasy, not impressed, won't be going back

This counter service restaurant has a few Tampa locations. Parking can be tricky but worth it. The meat is delicious! We tried the brisket and the burnt ends. Great flavor! The sides looked better than they tasted and we tried four different sides. Although the lunch crowd was long gone, they were out of the toast when we ordered. The staff promised to bring some to our table when it was ready (given a ten minute bake time). Unfortunately, they never delivered. When we saw that the trays were replenished after two minutes, we went back to the counter to ask about it. They had no recollection of their promise. It was odd and a poor customer service moment for three employees.

This food is so good you will lick your fingers (I know, it's not polite, but everyone else is doing it at Holy Hog so it's okay!). The flavors here are tasty - from the pulled pork to the sausage - and those burnt ends are terrific. There are numerous sides to choose from that are exactly what you would hope for from a REAL bar-b-que spot so double down on them! The sweet tea is delish. The only reason this does not earn five stars is that the brisket doesn't meet my exceedingly high standards, but no one outside of Texas has earned that yet. Highly recommend you stop by to grab and go, or hang out on the porch.

Amazing potato salad!!!! The sandwich bread wasn't the best but all my sides were delicious.

I was not aware of this location but I'm glad I found it. One of the pros here is drive thru he cons small parking lot and small inside sitting area. I would recommend this location for mostly take out. I went during the week and there was no line and no waiting. I ordered my usual the brisket with green been and mash potato. Even though everything was good I wish their vegetable options were on the healthy side instead of having bacon in everything. I would probably eat at Holly Hog more often. Downtown location is still my favorite spot. Great place to meet friends and have so awesome barbecue

I can only speak to the Holy Hog Food Truck parked inside Curtis Hixon Park during the Gasparilla Music Festival this year..... Let me just say this.......HANDS DOWN the best damn pork sandwich I have EVER had. I had a little side of jalepeno mac n cheese - that was really good too but everyone is serving mac n cheese now. The cheese was really good. But the pork sandwich - OMG - it is soooooooo yummy!

We were greeted by a friendly proprietor in this small inside, but plenty of seating outside BBQ spot. We waited patiently while they catered to a female octogenarian's ordering needs. She knew she wanted brisket but the many choices of volume and sides seemed overwhelming. She was sure she didn't want any spice or fat. On those points, she was emphatic! I believe, be patient with our elders, hold the door for them, let them cross the road with or without a crosswalk, let them do their thing. After all, they don't have long to live! Once it was our turn, we had fun selecting multiple meats (only 2.5$ for an extra meat added to your dinner) and sides. Even though it was basically cafeteria style (which can be frightening aka Morrison's and often disappointing), it turned out the BBQ and the sides were quite tasty. The fried okra was crunchy! The macaroni and cheese was cheesy! The ribs were sweet with a great smoke ring and were fall-off-the bone good. The burnt ends were plentiful and especially flavorful. We sat outside in January, in wonderful 75 degree weather, savored our BBQ, and watched the sun set over Henderson Blvd. We love Florida, in the "winter" :-)

Simple and delicious BBQ. No overpowering smoke flavor and sides that they take a lot of time to do right.

I used to brag to people that this was the best bbq in town, hands down. I hadn't been in awhile and just went last week to pick up dinner. I ordered all the things we normally order- pulled pork, burnt ends, mac and cheese, baked beans, corn fritters & collard greens. I could tell as soon as I took the first bite something was different. It seems like they have changed their ingredients and the quality is suffering. Not bad, but definitely not the best anymore. What a shame.

Holy Wow, this is excellent barbecue! Holy Hog has replicated the success of their original location - just east of Raymond James Stadium along Armenia Avenue - at their newer location on Henderson Avenue, just west of Dale Mabry. Owner Danny Hernandez is part of the family that have operated the Pipo's Cafe Restaurants in Tampa since the late 70s, and so he knows his way around cooking pork. Holy Hog is known for slow-smoked, hand-crafted barbecue, with homemade rubs, sauces and sides. At Holy Hog you can feast on St. Louis Pork Ribs, Pulled Pork, Beef Brisket, Smoked Chicken, Smoked Pork Sausage, Burnt Ends, and these big ol' honkin' Flintstone-sized Smoked Angus Beef Ribs. It's all served cafeteria-style with your choice of sides, including cole slaw, collard greens, mac & cheese, baked beans, roasted corn on the cob, Brunswick stew, potato salad, southwestern corn medley, black eyed peas 'n ham, bacon & cheddar cornbread, green beans, corn fritters, and fries. Oink Oink!!! For the Holidays, the folks at Holy Hog offer smoked turkey breast, whole roasted turkeys, honey-cured spiral sliced ham, pepper-smoked beef tenderloin, and citrus-smoked pork loin. That's all served with some very fancy sides including roasted brussel sprouts with smoked ham, sage cornbread stuffing, sweet potato souffle, cranberry & orange relish, a couple of different styles of mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, and Southern-style wild & brown rice. Oh, and for dessert they have bread pudding, sweet potato pie, and red velvet brownies. For lunch today I had a plate of amazing beef brisket which easily pulled apart between my fingers, and had the perfect amount of crusty bark on the outer edges. The meat was super-moist and very flavorful - even without any sauces. To that I added a quarter smoked chicken, and was delighted at the flavor and tenderness of the bird. For my sides I ordered homemade (FROM SCRATCH) mac & cheese, and collard greens. That was an incredibly delicious meal -- and wayyyyyyy too much food, but I couldn't help myself! I spoke with a very knowledgeable guy behind the counter, and ended up ordering a pound of the burnt ends to take home. For the uninitiated, burnt ends are flavorful pieces of meat cut from the point half of a smoked brisket. Burnt ends are considered a delicacy in barbecue cooking. Due to the higher fat content of the brisket point, it takes longer to fully cook to tender and render out fat and collagen. This longer cooking gave rise to the name "burnt ends". Seriously excellent barbecue, and well worth a visit if you're near either of their two locations.

Great BBQ! Brisket some of the best I ever had. Jalapeno Mac N Cheese is awesome. You wont be disappointed!

This place is okay. It's very clean, it has a drive-thru window, and I found that the staff was very friendly and helpful. Also, everything screams that this is a BBQ joint in south Tampa, including the nice paper bag and cardboard to-go containers. Sadly, the presentation was better than the actual food, which I found dry and bland. I could barely swallow down the burnt ends, and my jaw hurt from chewing them. The other meats were only okay. The sides were also only okay, nothing made me want to return for more.

Holy Hog is holy cow! This place is fantastic. What can I say, but "oh so good" BBQ. Do not be deceived by this "hole is the wall" looking building. If you want some excellent tasting and flavorful BBQ in Tampa, then this is the place. This is the first time I've been to Holy Hog and was not disappointed in anyway. When you walk in the menu items on on chalk-looking boards behind the counter. I asked the staff what was Holy Hog noted for and she said "pretty much" any meat. She suggested Pulled Pork and Brisket, so that is what I ordered. She even added in some "sample" smoked sausage. Both the meats and free sausage were perfectly smoked. Not too strong and not too weak. And you know how BBQ places will leave lots of fat in the meats to make them moist - well, Holy Hog doesn't have to worry about that. Some places are so bad that you get more fat than meat, but that's not the case with Holy Hog. Will you have some fat in the meat - probably (like I did). However, I don't think you will have a lot. And what you do have, will add a wonderful flavor. As for sides, I had the Southwest Corn Casserole and mashed sweet potatoes. Both were really good. I left this place so full that I couldn't even finish all the pulled pork that was provided. You will not be given small portions with anything. One cool thing is that Holy Hog offers a number of different bottled beer and soda. You have about 10 beers to choose from and maybe that many for soda, such as bottled root bear, sugar cane cola, cream soda, etc. If you visit Holy Hog, I do not believe you will be disappointed.

My friend was craving BBQ so we decided to give this place a try. Ordered the BBQ ribs the sauce was overpowering and bland. Vegestables and beans clearly come straight from a can yuck! I don't know why this place has people craving for it it because it has nothing spectacular about. Clearly another upcoming chain restaurant with poorly food execution. I am pretty clear Tampa needs great BBQ places. Better visiting BJ's Alabama small, delicious and tasteful.

I am so thoroughly disappointed with this place. $35 for 2 meals and "brunswick stew".. that is NOT brunswick stew. the cole slaw was absolutely awful and ended up in the trash. I won't waste any more time writing about it, we won't be back.

Hated our food. Expensive and terrible food. Had ribs, chicken and shrimp.

This place use to have amazing food. Don't get me wrong the bbq is amazing still. Recently they have decided to get rid of their homemade French fries for some over processed fries with some horrible seasoning. I have eaten there over 100 times. I am sad to say my brisket and fries will never be the same. Sorry to say they have gotten rid of one of the two reasons I go there. Bring back the right fries and they are 5 stars all day long.

Disclaimer on my BBQ reviews: I don't do pork, which for some folks IS BBQ, so my experience of most BBQ joints may be really different than yours. Since I don't do BBQ'd pork, my reviews can read like a grail quest for quality, delicious brisket. I am Texas-born and even though I didn't grow up there, I think Texas style smoked brisket BBQ is in my blood and Holy Hog does the best brisket I have had in years. My go-to is the brisket sandwich which is chopped and assembled right in front of me. I mention this because it gives me a chance watch the good folks at Holy Hog do what the rest of Tampa BBQ joints can't seem to manage - LOOKING at the product. Brisket gets smoked under a thick fat cap - which makes for delicious, moist meat, but the fat cap should be trimmed before serving and even with this help, brisket has huge ribbons of fat in it. At Holy Hog, they leave some of this flavor-bomb fat, but remove the largest chunks so you get mostly meat in each bite of brisket in the sandwich. *stands and gives slow ovation* And that's where I've seen so many others fail. I know brisket is fatty, but I also don't find having a mound of quivering fat on my plate at the end of the meal very enticing nor do I want to dissect my sandwich before eating. Holy Hog does banging side dishes too. You have to love any mac and cheese that the server practically needs a step ladder to be able to extend his arm far enough from the pan to have the long, gooey strands of cheese break. Always intensely cheesy with elbow mac with a little toothiness - I dream of their mac and cheese. The Cowboy beans are smokey, sweet and rich. The collard greens (dressed by me with a little vinegar) were really good - though Four Rivers in Orlando is still winning for stewing theirs for hours with chunks of burnt ends. I mean sure, that makes the greens glisten with grease - but wow are they amazing. In summary - Holy Hog, you rock my world. The food is great. The seating set up - with fans and some nice shaded porches - mean I can always enjoy my lunch out of the sun. And your staff does good work (she says, not even including the added perk of flirting with said staff because y'all got some good lookin' men working there and I thank you). Great place, really great food!

Love. I decided on a sausage sandwich with jalapeno mac and cheese on the side. The sausage is extremely flavorful and is off the charts when paired with the sauces (I used both bold and spicy). The mac and cheese was incredibly flavorful on its own, but even better with the bold BBQ sauce mixed in. The sandwiches are just your chosen meat on a bun. Delicious, but next time I think I'll go for the "dinner" which is your choice of meat with two sides. I think it's $1 more than the sandwich deal. I'll definitely be back. So many combinations to be had!

Burnt ends are the best I've ever had. It's hard to drive by and not stop here. Potato salad is amazing too. I could go on and on about this place. It's definitely the best bbq in Tampa, maybe the best bbq in Florida..

Last week (11/14) I went to visit Holy Hog on Henderson Boulevard. I purchased two small sides (the macaroni and cheese with jalapenos and fries) along with a drink. My total came to $13.89, which I found to be a bit high given my order. When I went back, it became evident I was overcharged. So the manager offered to either refund the difference or place my order in their black book, so my next meal would be comp'd. Today (11/19) I went back to redeem my two free sides and although the Mac & cheese was "ok" the fries were the absolute worst I have ever eaten. The entire small order of fries (without exaggeration) were tiny pieces of burnt fries and crumbs. I feel like this was served this way as my two sides were free (at least in their minds), but in fact I had already payed for it the week before. Needless to say, I won't be going back!!!

I was passing through Tampa for a work trip while pregnant and this place hit the spot! The pulled pork, corn fritters, brisket and fries were awesome. I think they were the best corn fritters I have ever had. I wish we had one of these in Boston-I would be a regular. My work colleagues said the same. So good. When I am back in Tampa this will be a must stop!

Holy hog was quite an experience. The food was definitely five stars. The atmosphere would remind you of a place you see on diners drive-ins and dives. My husband and I shared the burnt ends platter. It was plenty for the two of us to share. In addition we had Texas toast, baked beans and fantastic hand cut fries. Most of the seating is outdoor so be prepared to sit at picnic tables. There are a few barstools and one TV indoors. The inside seating accommodates about eight people. The napkins are paper towels. You help yourself to your own sodas, beer etc. We'll definitely be back to try other items, but will always order the French fries.

First visit to this location today. Enjoyed the chopped pork and ribs with greens and BBQ beans. Very good, but I think I prefer the N. Armenia location. Everything was very good.

My boyfriend took me here out of the blue. As a native Kansas City Girl I know all about great BBQ (the world famous Oklahoma Joes was in my backyard) so I'm fairly biased when it comes to the local hole in the wall Q. Well, I was not only impressed...I was blown away. The brisket was divine but I'm pretty sure what sealed the deal for me was the spicy Mac n cheese and the corn fritters. Love this place.

I must first admit, I live next door. I can smell the smokey wood and pig almost 24/7. That said, I don't really like meat. But my husband LOVES the ribs, sausage, pulled pork, and burnt ends. I LOVE the sides; the jalapeño Mac and cheese is amazing. The sauces are delish and once in a while they have Friday fish fry, which is not only really good but brings me back to my Catholic childhood in Buffalo.

  • David J.

Disappointed. Burnt ends over dry, collard greens had lots of stems. Not bad enough to send back, but I'd have to say not as good as a Sonny's. Ego steely not as good as Smoke Shack or Alabama bbq in south tampa.

  • Daniel H.

Man, does this place smell awesome! I went in sight unseen so I wasn't sure what to expect. What I got was the best Q I've had in a long time. I ordered a pulled pork dinner and an extra side of brisket. As a side, I had jalapeno mac n cheese and black eyed peas. They arent afraid to turn up the heat on the mac. I was sweating! Go hungry because you can't stop eating once you dig in.

  • Amanda L.

Holy moly, what a hog! The bbq here is fantastic - the pork ribs, brisket, and burnt ends are delicious. The pulled pork is good, but we've had better elsewhere. Their sauces are great and the extra touch of keeping them in a warmer so it's easy to squeeze the sauce out of the bottle is appreciated. I personally like putting both the hot and sweet sauce on my meat. 5+ stars to their jalapeno mac and cheese and their baked beans. Seriously, some of the best baked beans that I have ever had. We've tried other sides, which are all good, but the jalapeno mac and cheese and the baked beans far outshine the rest. If you're craving some bbq, this place will definitely hit the spot. Fair warning: this place BLASTS country music - not Shania Twain, Carrie Underwood country, but true die-hard, twangy country music. It's my one major gripe with the place... would love to enjoy my food without getting a headache from the music! Also, limited seating indoors, plenty of outdoor seating - both covered and non-covered. I don't mind sitting outdoors while the weather is nice, but once it gets hot and humid, it might not be as pleasant. They also have a drive thru for take-out.

I'm a Texas girl and I know my BBQ. Holy hog is typically good. So I was extremely disappointed in their burnt ends. Awful. Served steamed in Au jus. The brisket was ok. The ribs and turkey is good. For what they charge it should be outstanding. The owners need to regroup with their pitmaster.

  • Morgan M.

Great lunch! Creamed corn fritters are little bites of sweet, creamy heaven. The pork sandwich was prefect. Loved the fact you selected your own sauce. Macaroni and cheese was quality too. If we lived in the area this would definitely be a regular spot for us.

Holy Hog reminds me of every roadside barbecue stand I've ever been to. This is true southern bbq, rich in flavor and well done. They have a frequent diner program too! The meats have all been cooked perfectly, the sides are AWESOME (I recommend the black-eyed peas and the collard greens.) The staff are attentive and friendly. I wish there was more in door seating, but other than that I HIGHLY recommend this place.

  • Melissa K.

I had high expectations, but they just weren't satisfied. The mac and cheese was probably the best thing we ordered. Green beans were good and tasty but very soggy, meat was fatty, beans, OK. Just overall the food was meh and I've tried it twice.

YUM! I visited Holy Hog for the first time yesterday and got my food to go, as I was on the way home. Being a first timer anywhere, I always like to get as much variety as possible to get a good guage of the quality of food. And that I did! I ordered the burnt ends, mac and cheese, baked beans, and an apple crisp. The burnt ends were SO flavorful, albeit a little on the dry side. But they're called burnt ends for a reason, right? Next time I'll try to pulled pork sandwich, as that's pretty much how I compare BBQ restaurants, but this time I couldn't pass up the burnt ends- not easy to find in Tampa! As for the sides, the baked beans were literally the best baked beans I have had anywhere ever. I could eat a huge bowl of them by themselves. They weren't just beans in BBQ sauce. Oh no, they were this magically sweet and smoky layered flavor bowl of wonderful. The apple crisp was really good as well, but nothing to write home about. The mac and cheese was the only disappointment, as it usually is at BBQ restaurants. Why do BBQ joints have such a hard time with mac and cheese? I have no idea. It was delightfully cheesey (nothing is worse than uncheesey mac and cheese), but under salted and the noodles were a bit mushy. Overall, a four star experience with the definite potential to be the best BBQ restaurant in Tampa. Can't wait to go back and try a few more things!

  • Kim O.

The barbecue here is delicious. You know it is going to be good as soon as you get out of the car because you immediately get that smoky delicious smell all up in your face. I love brisket and I prefer it chopped. The brisket here is the best. Juicy and delicious with the right amount of smoke. The burnt ends are also fabulous. I took off one star because the sides here are not the greatest. The Mac n cheese was kind of tasteless and the mashed potatoes were just weird. Collard greens were meh. It doesn't really matter because the meat is the thing and that is perfect.

  • Bibi A.

Delicious! The burnt ends! The collard greens!!! And the sweet tea! Ahhhhh mazing!!!! Have been so tempted to go back but I try not to eat out often. Was kinda hoping it wouldn't be too great since they are so close to home and could cause temptation. But darn it they are delish!!!!

  • Brad S.

Somewhat dry and bland smoked meat here. I had the brisket sandwich. Not a whole lot of flavor to it, but it did come in a decent portion atop a white bun that seemed to be a bit grilled or toasted. The sauces, especially the mustard, helped to liven it up a lot. The sides were tasty, but come in measly portions, in tiny little white styrofoam cups, about 1 inch deep and 3 inches across. The brunswick stew that I had was much tastier than the brisket. My companion had the mac and cheese, and it, too, was tasty. Her St. Louis pork ribs, 3 bones, were moist, but the amount of meat on them was small. Having had real Texas barbeque in that state, I can safely say this does not come close. But for South Tampa, it's okay. There are so many other barbeque places around these days, I may not be back here for awhile. The decor was actually the best thing about Holy Hog. Very comfy inside and outside.

While wandering around south Tampa looking for lunch I saw holy hog on Henderson BLVD. I have heard about this place several times but had never given it a shot until today. The set up at this particular location is nice with plenty of outside seating, employees seem nice. I ordered the "dinner" plate where you choice 1 meat and 2 sides, I chose the brisket, Mac n cheese and baked beans. The brisket was a bit over cooked and dry and the sides were about as good as Mac n cheese and baked beans could be. This was typical American BBQ nothing fancy, nothing new brought to the table which is why I was disappointed in the price overall I paid 15$ for these 3 items and drink. While I realize 15$ isn't much, considering the type of food and it's rather generic taste, these plates should go for about 7-10$ total with a drink. If the ambiance were better and maybe had some "twist's" on old favorite items it would make a bit more sense but as is I consider it to be a bit to pricey. By comparison lets take a look at a local place that serves traditional Latin food. Say you get a portion of pulled pork, yellow rice, black beans and plantains, in Tampa specifically you will get giant portions and tops you will be paying about 7$, you could add on flan and a jugo fresca and still be well under the price of one plate at Holy hog. Overall all I give holy hog about a 2.5 for the sake of yelp I will give them a 2, I just can't see myself returning.

Holy Hog is why God invented the pig! Their ribs are huge - they simply start with better ingredients and prepare them like the award-winning pitmasters they are.

This place was alright for the area, but didn't make me want to go back. The interior was warm and clean and the staff was friendly. I tried the ribs, pulled pork, and brisket. All the meats were fairly bland and lacked a good smoke taste. The meats were being stored in aluminum in a heater which gave the ribs a soggy texture. The pulled pork and brisket almost tasted the same, which I thought was very strange. The bbq sauces were ok, but nothing to make up for the lack of taste in the meat. The sides were also in the same category, fairly lackluster and nothing to come back for. I am still on the hunt for some decent BBQ in South Tampa.

I don't like to downgrade a place that I was previously impressed with, but I made good on my promise to try Holy Hog again and was a bit disappointed. The service was still fast and friendly, but the ribs were overcooked to the point where the meat was crumbling (that's just weird) and the brisket that I wished I had ordered the last time I visited ended up being rather dry. To top it off, the side of Brunswick stew I got was way too salty. Like, "too salty to eat" salty. So, I'm adjusting my review. Holy Hog is a little pricey for food that is, unfortunately, not consistently good.

Not a fan. Went two different times and got ribs both occasions, beef and pork. Both we're dry and struggled to reach mediocre level on its best day. Baked beans were ok but not special enough to ever make me want to go back. Nowhere near good BBQ.

I didn't appreciate good barbecue until I was an adult and by that time my favorite place was closed. Now, I have to find a place as good. Holy Hog is good. The two visits I've have I got the chicken sandwich. The first time I reheated it and it was OK. The second time I ate it at the location. Much better fresh than reheated. However, it was OK and I can't say I'm a fan yet. The location is cramped and small. That may work to their advantage in that it keeps the crowds down to a certain level and more people opt to get take out. It's also very neighborhood friendly as I saw a few people walk up and get food and walk back. I kind of like that. Tampa is not walking friendly. The food is solid. The chicken I had was smoked and tasty. The sauces are really the star of the food which may be a bad thing. The meat should shine- always. The fries I had were delicious too. It seemed like everything, including the bun on my sandwich, stood out except for the meat and that's not good for a barbecue place. My fiance got the pulled pork with mac and cheese and fries. He thought it was good but said he wouldn't write to his mother about it (she lives in an area without any good barbecue places). Am I going back? Yes. But I'm still looking for a barbecue home in Tampa.

Good barbecue. Not the best we've had, but we did like their sauces. Also, a barbecue restaurant should always have large drinks. They only had medium drinks. I had the burnt ends sandwich which was more dry than I liked. My husband liked his pulled pork sandwich. The fries were good.

Favorite BBQ in the area! I've never had anything I didn't like. The pulled pork is great, I get it every time. The burnt ends are great too, especially if you ask them to chop them up. Love their baked beans, loaded Mac n cheese, and their collard greens. There's not much indoor seating, and if they're busy, I think it would be a little awkward trying to get in there while people stand in line. Go on a nice day when you don't mind sitting outside (they have tons of fans and misters).

  • Amy D.

First time at this place. We had pulled pork and tried many of the sides. Pork was awesome but BBQ sauce was not my favorite. Nothing wrong with it but it had a kick that normally sweet sauce doesn't have. We tried loaded potato salad, Mac n chs, coleslaw, mashed potatoes, corn fritters and fries. All were good but the Mac n chs and corn fritters are a must try!

If this is the best barbecue in Tampa, remind me to never come back. We ordered the pulled pork sandwich and beef brisket dinner, which we got with jalapeño mac and cheese, collards and a piece of Texas toast. Nothing was done right. Pulled pork was flavorless and fatty, and the bun it came on was overloaded with butter and hard as a rock around the edges. Collards were served lukewarm at best and lacked in flavor. Mac and cheese was ok -- we've definitely had better. But it's hard to mess up mac and cheese, so we don't give them much credit on that front. And the brisket. Oh, the brisket. It was so incredibly dry. We never would've served it to customers if it were our restaurant. This place could use a drive to Orlando to study the five-star flavor and freshness and top notch service from 4Rivers, which has a similar eating setup (with the addition of inside tables) and a mass cult-like following. We highly do not recommend.

Seriously the best barbecue food I've tried so far. I was in town for the day and was craving barbecue. I mean if I'm in the south, it's sort of an obligation for me to get barbecue food right? So I yelped barbecue food and this was top 10 of the highest rating on yelp. Everyone raved about how good this place is, and not to mention the name is ridiculously catchy! So I decided to give this place a try. I got the burnt ends, angus beef ribs, pulled pork, baked beans, green beans, jalapeño Mac and cheese, corn on the cobs, and banana pudding. No that's not all for me, that was for two people. The ribs and pulled pork was classic barbecue. But the burnt ends was what put it over the edge. I mean geez it's like biting into a little piece of heaven! It's been almost two months since I ate here and I STILL salivate thinking about the burnt ends. I only wish that barbecue places around me were this good... The people there were quite friendly too. One of the girl that worked there told us about some places to see while in Tampa (which wasn't much). The joint itself doesn't have very much seating inside (think counter top sitting of about 8). But there's tables outside for you to eat as well. If you're in the area and are in town for just a night, definitely check this place out. Best barbecue I've had so far.

Fast food style BBQ , ,order at.counter and take food to table. Good cheap food. 10 bucks got me brisket sandwich fries and coke. Not best BBQ I ever had, but pretty good for a cheap eat.

Tried to order online, got to the restaurant and they just told me about the orders they did have and nothing about trying to service me. I left, then remembered I paid online with my credit card. Tried to call to get it cancelled, she just kept telling me they hadn't put the order in yet. I guess I was the only online order, I have no idea, she was very unhelpful. I've eaten here twice in the past and the food was fatty and flavorless. I'll never go back!

Have had 3 different meals so far here and all were good. The pork dinner is great with the sweet mashed potatoes and baked beans. Love that they offer 3 different types of BBQ sauces!

Mmmm. I love me some good barbecue. I was craving some and had passed Holy Hog a million times (normally when I'm on my way to healthier options) but decided I was going to go ahead and try it. I'm so glad I did. The pulled pork sandwich was melt in your mouth delicious. It has so much flavor I almost felt like I didn't even need the sauce. I got the Mac and cheese side- and it was good -but I'm a little biased because I make a homemade one that I almost always prefer. I was really excited to see corn fritters on the sides though! I love corn fritters and don't see them often. I didn't see them until after I ordered so next time I go back I'm definitely getting them. There was one employee that I felt was really rude. I had never been there before so I had some questions and he was just very short and seemed like it was annoying that I had questions- the manager and the guy who actually rung me up were very nice and polite though. Will probably become a go to lunch spot when I need one because it's fast and delicious!!

A personal favorite. I've only been to this location, but every single time I go it's on POINT! They always have nice and friendly service. Everyone is willing to help you out and point out their specials and what they're known for. I haven't had a bad meal here yet. Things to remember: -TRY THE BURNT ENDS...they're meat candy. Thank me later. -Get the meat dinner, but add another side of meat. It's $3 but the portions make it sooo worth it. -They have premade Arnold Palmers....you heard me...already mixed Arnold-Freaking-Palmers. -Try all their sauces, but my personal recommendation is the Carolina mustard-based sauce. Please please please eat here and don't listen to Rob B. because he's mistaken.

Tried to call ahead for a to go order and was put on hold for 10 minutes. Hung up and called back only to get an answering machine. I know it was a Sunday, but get your understaffed restaurant together!! I ended up going to the Smoke Shack instead and was much happier. This place is not worth the effort!

I ate here with great hopes but the moment I saw them scoop the burnt ends out of a warming dish and the ribs were wrapped in plastic wrap I knew disappointment was emanate. The ribs were dry, tasteless and disgusting, the burnt ends were a mixture of tough and sweet. I thought the collard greens were good but the green beans needed life support. I won't be returning...

Got a BBQ Cobb salad..... Bad idea. I know it's not a salad place, but if you're going to have a salad on the menu, you should make sure the limited vegetables you do use are at least fresh. The green peppers were moldy, the cucumbers gelatinous and see through, and the iceberg lettuce old and beyond wilted. The smoked turkey was tasty, but had skin on it...no thank you! The manager was accommodating, however.

  • Dan C.

Pretty good food and reasonable price. I ordered the dinner so it came with Texas toast instead of on a roll. Texas toast wasn't much to talk about but you don't go to a place with a pig on the sign for Texas toast. The pork was good and a good size portion. Sauce on the side so you can add what you want. I would go again.

I'm writing this review in regards to the Carrollwood location. I couldn't find a listing for this location. Today was my first time ever at a Holy Hog BBQ establishment. I ordered the Burnt End Dinner with BBQ Beans and Mac & Cheese for my 2 sides. I also ordered a 1/2# of their hot sausage. It also came with a piece of garlic bread. The garlic bread was the best part of the meal. The Mac & Cheese was pretty much colored noodles. I would rather of had Mac & Cheese out of a box. It was the worse Mac & Cheese I have ever had in my life. The BBQ Beans had a funky taste that I still can't figure out what it was. The Spicey Sausage was average. The Burnt Ends were good...not the best not the worse. I asked for 2 different sauces. I believe one was an original sauce and the other was the same but hotter. I didn't like either one. I'm shocked at the ratings this place gets. I would never go back again. The food is terrible...the portions are VERY SMALL...and it's way over priced. My next review will be 4 Rivers BBQ ....I hope it's better...

Enthusiasm now has flavor! I'm serious! You can actually taste the enthusiasm in Holy Hog's Barbecue. These guys love what they're doing and it's apparent in the food they serve. They have a great selection of some of the best Tampa bbq, made with real care. It doesn't hurt that you can see the beautiful bbq in a glass display-case (kind of like a butcher shop) before you order. That alone would justify 4 stars but there's more! BEEF RIBS! Let me say it again, a little quieter: beef ribs! Do you know how difficult it is to find a bbq joint that serves beef ribs!? How about almost impossible! If only for that, I'd be a HH customer.

One of my favorite places to eat, so i decided to try out their new location. It was alot smaller and menu is cut about half, but the best part of a resturaunt is the cook and he went to the new location. Same great food as the original although the best part is that the new location has Burnt Ends everyday, unlike the original spot that only had them as a special. They are by far worth the trip!

It is a small little restaurant with a big impact. It's very clean (even had a sink outside to wash your hands) My boyfriends pork ribs and my chicken were both tender and flavorful. There is a number of sides to choose from, we both had corn on the cob and mac and cheese. I really recommend the mac and cheese. There is a few BBQ sauces to chose from. I mixed the hot and gold sauce very tasty! The service is incredible! Everybody there was cheerful happy and seemed to love there job. They even brought us out a free corn fritters to try! I Will definitely be back soon.

Mmmmmm...delicious! That swine is divine! My beautiful wife picked up some brisket for dinner and I was pleasantly surprised. Loved the burnt ends. I enjoyed the mac and cheese. I prefer my beans to be sweeter v smokey but that's personal preference. The Cobb salad is awesome too. Generous portion with lots of fresh ingredients (corn, cucumber, tomato, egg, bacon). Love to support local places such as this. Would highly recommend!

Very friendly service and attentive to making sure you have a peasant dining experience. Nice patio area with misting fans and a sink for messy fingers. Really nice BBQ spot for families or couples. We enjoyed it very much. Chicken was smokey and tender and the wings were massive!

Some of the best BBQ I've had in Tampa. Great service, food and ordering (online AND drive through). Try anything and you won't go wrong! Now they've even added beer. The selection isn't vast, but the beer they do have is high quality, which is a nice change from the typical bud light crap!

  • Brantz R.

Very clean and very polite staff, but the food was bland. It's not what a barbque enthusiast would consider barbeque. It's kind of cafateria style. Good presentation and looks very tasty, but falls short of it's appearance. Pork sandwich tastes like it was cooked in a crock pot and the sausage really didn't have any distinct taste at all. They prepare their collards with the stems in, which isn't my favorite way to eat them.

  • Mark R.

A lot smaller than their Armenia location but the food looked better. Very few seats but there is outdoor seating. We stayed inside. I had a smoked chicken sandwich, Mac and cheese, and corn on the cob. All were good. The sauce is very good and I slather all over my sandwich.

I went with high expectations due to Yelp reviews but left disappointed. The food was not made to order. It is cafeteria style and the food looked and tasted as if it had been sitting for a while. The beef ribs were dry and lacked flavor. The chicken was the same. The sides of mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, greens, macaroni were all mediocre. Maybe it was that I came in an hour before closing on a Friday evening. I don't know but I would not go back again. The only memorable thing was the friendly staff. Bunch of nice guys.

I will be honest, I expected another boring BBQ joint after the places ive visited in South Tampa before. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich, had the black eyed peas and Mac & Cheese for sides. The pork was mouth watering, lovely smokey flavor to it. I liked how they have different sauces you can choose to add yourself. The sides were well seasoned and the Mac was moist and cheesy. I have gone for lunch and dinner again and was still as good. Give it a try, worth the time.

You want good bbq? Come here. This place is amazing. Their pulled pork is moist, tender and smokey. Jalapeno mac and cheese is delish. They have a Sunday brunch with bacon, the best biscuits I've had in town, eggs and more. Limited seating inside, with some seating outside. Great for to-gos if you're in a rush- they have a drive thru window! They also have great desserts with things like apple crisp, cookies and more. You won't be sorry!

Being one of their vendors I eat here often and was afraid that my personal relationship might be affecting my judgement. I took a friend and was gratified to learn that I wasn't being partial. Their BBQ rocks. The ribs, brisket and burnt ends are phenomenal. The sides are always fresh and very tasty. Add in the fact that you can see where your food is coming from(glass case) plus the always smiling staff makes this place a delight. Definitely one of the top3 BBQ establishments in Tampa.

I travel for a living and yelp has never let me down. Until now. This place is full if meh. I am very suspicious of the extremely glowing reviews that are all somewhat similar. That should have been a red flag since truly excellent places have a lot of variety in their reviews. Ok, I'll come right out and say it... I think someone is gaming the system on this one. So here's how I feel. I got a couple slices of sausage, a medium styrofoam bowl of burnt end brisket, sides of mac and cheese, green beans and ice tea for $18. I'd say about $4-$6 too much for the portions if you ask me. The food itself was decent but unexciting. The texture of the brisket was good and had a fresh out of the pit smokiness. It was also fatty and sitting in some kind of sweet liquid. Sweet works for pork. Not so much for beef. The sausage, also not bad, but had a high percentage of fat and not much flavor. They did avoid making it too salty. So I have to give them credit for that. The sides were Publix quality. Good, and fresh, but not worth the price. And even the ice tea, which looked like ice tea, had no flavor whatsoever. This place is a much higher quality than Sonny's, but if you travel and have had good barbecue elsewhere, you won't be impressed.

  • Manuel M.

This place has the best brisket in Tampa, and possibly Florida. The brisket is very similar to Texas style; it's smokey, melt in your mouth tender, with a good bark. You can ask them to cut it from the point and they understand! The Angus ribs are wonderful too.

I went to Holy Hog a day or so after it opened. They clearly did not have their act together. Since then I have been back twice. Yes I go back to restaurants and give them several chances to negate a first bad review! Anyway, these people did. The pulled pork is done very well, smoked, no sauce, very tender on the inside and charred on the outside. VERY excellent. The mac and cheese is great. The apple crisp is TO DIE FOR. And they have improved their service. The customer service thru the drive-through now is PERFECT. One of the most glorious things about being back in the South: drive-through QUE!

I will be eating here again. Excellent BBQ. Pick your meats, pick your sauce and pick your sides. Best beef brisket in Florida. Make sure to ask for a piece with burnt ends. Pork excellent and cornbread flavorful.

The pork ribs are ok, everything else main dish wise is meh at best. The sides are very nice with a lot of selections. The people behind the counter are incompetent. If you are getting a carryout order be sure to check to see what they gave you. More than likely it's not what you ordered.

Drove from Kissimmee...after a day at the beach we decided to give it a try and boy was it worth the drive, chicken fell off the bone and the BBQ sweet sauce was delish, fries were crisp and yummy , corn was cooked just right, but they didn't put butter in the bag, and cole slaw was extremely dry, but I will go back for more chicken.

OMG !!!! THE ABSOLUTE BEST RIBS AND BRISKET...PERIOD!! My wife and I are BBQ foodies and have eaten in too many states and BBQ restaurants to name,BUT HOLY HOG IS THE TOPS. THE SIDES WERE ALL DEEEEELICIOUS(we tried them all!) The ribs were fall off the bone St.Louis (meaty) style and though all three of their sauces sweet, spicy and mustard based were all yummy...if you're like I am , I don't use sauce on these smokey ribs , the flavor alone is to die for with the dry rub that they are cooked/smoked with. Anyway , I could keep yapping away , but my advice is to get to Holy Hog and take a trip to Heaven on earth !!!! Many kudos to the owner and all the wonderful folks that work there. Now stop reading and get going to Holy Hog!!!! ENJOY!! Rick

First time in Tampa and after spending the entire day out sightseeing and snacking, I was looking for a good hearty meal. Well I found it at Holy Hog! I set my GPS, but as I was being lead through residential streets, I was wondering if I actually typed in the correct address. Most good bbq spots are not found in the touristy areas, but thankfully my family trusted me with the meal selection of the night. Upon arriving I wasn't sure what to expect. But as soon as we entered we were greeted by friendly staff. There is limited seating, so I was glad we were planning for carry out. We selected the 1/4 chicken, pulled pork, riblets (kids) meals with collard greens, mac n cheese, corn medley, and fried okra. As soon as we got back to the hotel the feast began! Everything was delicious. The pulled pork was seasoned and very tender. The collard greens were flavored with a touch of spice. The mac n cheese had the perfect mac to cheese ratio. The best part was that the portions were just enough for you to get full and share a bit. Next time we are in Tampa we'll be back at the Holy Hog!!!

I've been told by many friends that Holy Hog is great BBQ.. and as of today I can finally agree with them! I ordered the smoked turkey with jalapeño mac n cheese and green bean casserole. It was all really tasty, and this is coming from a 5 year pescetarian who is experimenting with small bites of turkey and chicken as of a week ago. The turkey had great flavor and it went well with the Carolina mustard bbq sauce. My husband ordered the Angus beef ribs, he felt they were a little salty but he still finished them all. Would definitely come back!

I heard this location was better than the Downtown Tampa location but I was not impressed. I ilke that they have a drive thru but not sure how the drive thru works when they are busy because they take the orders at the pick up windows. Great customer service but again, wasn't impressed by the food. I ordered the pulled pork with baked beans and loaded potato salad.

This is some of the best BBQ in town. The flavors are dialed in perfectly. The meats are always fresh, the sides compliment each of the meats, and the 3 in-house BBQ sauces are unique enough to change the taste of each meal. (try the Carolina Gold sauce - wow) Don't have anything planned after your meal because you will definitely need a nap. Highly recommended.

The menu has grown on me at Holy Hog. Initially I wasn't crazy about a few of the side menu items, but after several visits I finally found some solid sides that I really like. If you visit during the lunch or dinner rush be sure to check your order before leaving. My sister and I did not receive the correct side items and we didn't realize the mistake until we got home. Despite the goof-up I'm still bumping up my original review to four stars. The pulled-pork is amazing and this may be one of my favorite items on the menu. I'd skip ordering the burnt ends dinner platter. I paid $2 extra for the burnt ends platter, but the portion size was about 1/5 of the portion size of the pulled-pork my sister received. The jalapeño mac and cheese is amazing. I reluctantly shared mine because my sister's portion had been swapped with a regular mac and cheese. The corn fritters are freaking amazing and taste like something you would order at the fair since they are fried and covered in powdered sugar. I ordered the jalapeño and bacon cornbread as my second side, but it had been swapped out for green bean casserole. The green beans were fine, but next time I want my cornbread! Despite a few hiccups I would say Holy Hog has pretty solid BBQ.

I had a hankering for some barbecue and decided to check out Holy Hog for dinner. I had checked out the menu online, read the Yelp reviews, and went in excited to try, well, everything. No, I didn't get everything, but I did get the burnt ends, chicken, green beans and collard greens. Now, starting with the sides: the collard greens were pretty good. They had a good amount of flavor and were some of the better collard greens I've had in my many BBQ experiences. The collard greens weren't dry, either, which sometimes happens. The green beans were standard. Nothing really too great about them. If I had to choose next time, I'd probably go for the green bean casserole or the okra. Next up was the chicken and the burnt ends. Now, BBQ chicken can be sort of hard to do. This was just roast chicken, but it was a little too dry for my liking. I like juicy chicken, so I felt like I HAD to use BBQ sauce on it to give it some moisture. The burnt ends, however, were great. They didn't even need BBQ sauce. They could have stood entirely on their own and were easily the best part of the meal. There were three BBQ sauces: a regular, sweet sauce, a mustard BBQ sauce and a spicy sauce. All had a decent amount of flavor, but my personal favorite was the mustard BBQ sauce. The atmosphere of Holy Hog is a standard BBQ joint, but there's also a drive-thru which, after coming here in person, I think I will definitely use in the future. The prices were reasonable and everything was ready pretty quickly. I'll definitely be back.

Very disappointed with my meal from Holy Hog. I ordered half a chicken with two sides, green beans and cole slaw for dinner. The chicken was bland , but more importantly it reminded me of the turkey on the movie Christmas Vacation. It was without a doubt the driest bird I have ever eaten. I've had green beans from a can with firmer texture and the cole slaw might has well been from a grocery store tub. I admit that, hailing from Memphis, my standards are higher than some. However this was bad on any level.

I've been wanting to try Holy Hog ever since driving by after picking up Cuban sandwiches from West Tampa sandwich shop on Armenia, however, it's always closed when I want to go. Great, now I want a Cuban sandwich and media noche sandwich. Haha. Well imagine my happy surprise when I saw that there was a location on Henderson in South Tampa! It's located on Henderson Blvd by Neptune Street. I stopped by yesterday after an awesome workout. I know, I know. Way to ruin a workout. Well I follow the "I workout to eat" saying :). Holy Hog reminded me of 4Rivers BBQ in Orlando when I first saw it as I waiting to turn in. There's a patio area in front and I noticed servicemen eating there. Macdill AFB is nearby. I also noticed a drivethru. Bingo! My legs were toast after that workout and climbing out of my SUV was not something I was looking forward to. As I drove up to the drivethru, the menu was clearly displayed before you get to the window. The menu was also displayed at the drivethru window so you don't have to makeup your mind right away. After spending a few minutes to go over the menu again, I decided on the pulled chicken sandwich with green beans w/ham and collard greens; pulled pork dinner with mac-n-cheese and fried; and burnt ends sandwich. The dinner combo comes with 2 sides and Texas toast, however, they forgot to give us the Texas toast. Not a big deal though. The green beans with ham was good and had a little smoky flavor from ham. The collard greens was a little dry and needed a little Tabasco sauce. You're given a choice of three sauces for the meat. Either a sweet and smoky (mild), a mustard bbq sauce and lastly, a smoky, spicy (hot) sauce. Went with the smoky, spicy sauce because I eat almost everything spicy. The burnt ends sandwich had very good flavor similar to 4Rivers version of burnt ends. The sauce gave it a very nice kick. The pulled chicken was good, but not special. The pulled pork was good also, but my favorite was the burnt ends. I saw banana pudding and some other desserts on the menu so I'll have to try those next time. I'll definitely return and try the ribs and brisket next time. Oh, there are also specials on Fridays such as chicken and waffle, and shrimp & grits! I'm already planning my next meal there:).

I tried brisket, fried okra, and jalapeño mac. All delish. Happy with the prices and portions. Will be back soon!!

Holy Hog is why God invented the pig! Their ribs are huge - they simply start with better ingredients and prepare them like the award-winning pitmasters they are.

Not a fan. Went two different times and got ribs both occasions, beef and pork. Both we're dry and struggled to reach mediocre level on its best day. Baked beans were ok but not special enough to ever make me want to go back. Nowhere near good BBQ.

  • David J.

Disappointed. Burnt ends over dry, collard greens had lots of stems. Not bad enough to send back, but I'd have to say not as good as a Sonny's. Ego steely not as good as Smoke Shack or Alabama bbq in south tampa.

ENJOY!! Rick

  • Melissa K.

I had high expectations, but they just weren't satisfied. The mac and cheese was probably the best thing we ordered. Green beans were good and tasty but very soggy, meat was fatty, beans, OK. Just overall the food was meh and I've tried it twice.

  • C S.

Im not a big bbq person, but when i do get that craving, i only go here. With fresh food and friendly service, you cant go wrong with Holy Hogs. I recommend the chicken.

    (2)

This place has the best brisket in Tampa, and possibly Florida. The brisket is very similar to Texas style; it's smokey, melt in your mouth tender, with a good bark. You can ask them to cut it from the point and they understand! The Angus ribs are wonderful too.

My girlfriend and I pass Holy Hog every day, twice a day, on the way they gym. Decided to grab lunch there and it was awesome. Super clean on the inside, friendly people working there, and homemade delicious BBQ! We will go back, frequently.

Holy Hog is solid BBQ. Well executed meats, sides, and sauces. Good variety of options for any BBQ fan and reasonablly priced based on quality and portion size.

As others have mentioned, the first place I've found in tampa that even comes close to the type of pork bbq you get in the carolinas. give it a shot.
