DI Coffee Bar, located on Davis Island, is a very cool cafe just a couple months old. I stopped in for an iced cafe de leche (around $4) after having lunch at Thai Island next door. There a few things which sets this cafe apart from many others in Tampa. First, they use Panther Coffee, which is a roaster based out of Miami that has won awards. So that's different as many cafés around Tampa run on Buddy Brew, Kahwa or Joffrey's. I liked my iced cafe de leche. They have various types of sweeteners including Liquid Raw and honey so I could get it to my sweetness level. The ambience is really, really nice; almost seems as if you're in a Restoration Hardware. From what I understand, they share the space with a local home furnishings company and everything in the cafe is for sale, even some cool old guitars on the walls. It's comfortable, cozy and conducive to studying or working as there are large tables and plenty of seating options (bar, nook with leather armchairs, family size dining/study table). There is also an outdoor patio that is dog-friendly. They serve breakfast items (some Mexican-inspired), wine, and other things too numerous to mention. They also sell candles (Seventh Ave Apothecary), jams, honey and the like. I also like how there is natural light from the skylight and they played cool music. Definitely a place I'll frequent regularly.

DI Coffee Bar is by far my favorite coffee shop in the Tampa Bay area. It's more of an experience than anything. The decor is rustic, vintage, and modern all pulled off perfectly. They share the building with a furniture store so I was told a lot of the furniture in there is for sale. They also sell their own jams, dressings, wine, beer, etc. Most coffee shops that look like this are pretty pricey but DI Coffee is very affordable (read: cheap). The staff is really friendly too. I was interested in a drink another customer ordered and the barista quickly explained everything to me and let me try the drink. The outdoor seating area has fans that spray mist, so if you're a person like me who likes sitting outside, you won't have to worry about dying in the heat.

Awesome, modern, tranquil, zen, this is a full package! Love this place! Their chocolate pastry is incredible, so are their selection of coffees, definitely a must after a meal

Real quick- public shout out to JaxMan T., almond milk separates when it is added to coffee depending on: 1)the brand/type of almond milk: organic/"fancy" almond milks separate more, standard brands like Silk less so, and almond milk creamers etc shouldn't separate much unless effected by 2)the acidity of the coffee. From what I've tasted of Panther Coffee so far, it's definitely high on the acidity. It's pretty impossible to say that it does or doesn't separate without full knowledge on the brands used and how one effects the other. With that being said, Almond milk is only considered "good" a week after it's opened. This one could go both ways, but I've never had anything but a perfect cup from DI. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . It's really hard to find good coffee (of this vein) in Tampa. Ridiculously so, for how big of a city we are. If you want a cafe con leche or in general some kind of Cuban coffee, Ybor has you covered. But when it's an expertly crafted espresso drink your heart desires... slim pickings. Right now, I know of two places. One I can't really talk about on Yelp, because I'm a barista there. Just in case you're wondering- no. It's not Buddy Brew (Sorry, Tampa. Never tasted what the hype is all about), and it's absolutely not Starbucks (bleck on all counts). So when I saw that DI Coffee Bar had opened, I was hesitant to get excited, because so far- Tampa's dropping the ball in a big way. A bit more excited when I found out that they were serving something other than Buddy Brew (bias aside, come on guys! Not every local place needs to be exactly the same and serve exactly the same thing! We're pretty much boxing out all variety from our city with the direction new businesses have been going around here. But that's something I could rant about for a long time). In general, I was pleasantly surprised. It's now my go-to for when I'm off and want something different than what I get at work all day. So far I've tried their Gibraltar (for everyone who orders a Cortado elsewhere- heads up this is generally the same thing), cappuccino, iced latte, almond milk Gibraltar, latte, iced double shot. My friend ordered a cafe con leche - and it pretty much looked and tasted like a latte. But there's very little practiced difference in those anymore, anyways (unless you're at a Cuban cafe or in Miami etc). So whatever. It's all been great. The baristas have been super friendly (nice change from the more uptight hipster vibe... elsewhere). Last time, my friend and I happened to arrive during torrential downpour (yay summer!), we walked dripping a little bit (our umbrella tried to save us. But, you know) and the barista right off the bat offered us towels to dry off with, in a pleasant non-embarrassing way. More about the coffee: they've done a good job either hiring skilled baristas or training them- they treat the milk and espresso perfectly. Panther coffee itself is never going to be my favorite. It's a bit on the sharp and acidic side. The base espresso tastes halfway between illy and Buddy Brew. Not quite so vegetal and harsh as BB, but not as fully rounded as illy is. Still, it makes a fine enough cup. What's really got me over the moon about DI Coffee Bar is the coffee+ambiance factor. It's so peaceful and beautiful. In addition to the coffees, pastries etc they have a wonderful mix of retail items (and a great wine selection- I tend to get sucked into buying a bottle every time I'm there). All around, super stoked about this new addition to the neighborhood, and (as it is still quite new) I hope it keeps moving in a positive direction.

Unique but unexceptional coffee, but an exceptional atmosphere. I'm overly particular about my coffee, so this was a little bit smoky for my taste or to give it 5 stars (or something), but it was excellently done. The menu is basic, as seems to be the trend these days, but impeccably executed and with enough variety to suit all tastes--and reasonably priced for an indie coffee shop in my opinion. Bonus: they are serving TeaBella for all you tea lovers, which has its home just down the street mixing up fantabulous tea blends. What really makes me love DI Coffee, though, isn't just about the solid coffee and great tea selection. It's the atmosphere and the location that make it great. They're located along the old fashioned Main Street, with a wonderful patio overlooking the street that welcomes dogs. Inside, while less built to snuggle in for four hours of working, it has a cozy modern feel that just welcomes conversation and makes it a great place to meet people. I'd be really interested to go back at night when they turn it into a bar!

Yes! Finally a cute spot for me to stop before work. Love the outside countertop and porch! Atmosphere is perfect. Friendly staff and yummy looking food. Coffee is good I haven't figured out my drink here yet! Can't wait to try the food!

Really wanted to love this place and may give it another try; but not a positive first experience. Not sure who's crazy, me or them. Ordered my usual two large ice coffees. Not usual for me, I asked for almond milk as the wifey prefers it. When the order came, the milk was visibly separated and looked curdled. Yuk! Coffee should not have texture... I asked my barista, and he says "no, almond milk and soy milk just naturally separate." Hmmm... this does not happen when we use almond milk at home. I ask wifey, and she says, "yeah, it separates when it gets rancid, and that's what happens when they don't go through much of it." I have to say I trust wifey on this one, and six other people at DI ball field seem to agree. Regardless, the coffee tastes terrible. I don't know if it is spoiled milk or just really bitter coffee. As cool as the style and sophistication is for this new establishment, the bottom line is that the product must be excellent. At $12.95 plus tip for two 16 oz coffees (w plenty of ice), anything less than a perfectly executed product is really unacceptable. I don't know if I'll give this place another try, but more likely I am headed to Starbucks... It's too bad, as I'd really prefer to shop local, and this seems like a great concept for Davis Islands. I just don't want to get price gouged for anything less than perfect delivery. I'll keep a watchful eye on this one.

    1. Great atmosphere in an area that needs a local upscale hangout. 2. Coffee was good but I felt slightly overpriced. $6.96 for a 4 shot cappuccino. Not really a complaint, but $4.95 seems more palatable. I would still come back for sure, just for my everyday morning cappuccino. 3. Looking forward to coming back and enjoying a glass of wine.. Too many coffee shops miss out on this important element. Adding beer and wine provides that extra kick consumers want in local spot.

On a Sunday afternoon a few weeks ago my husband and I tried DI-it was fairly busy around 2:30pm. We got cafe con leche for both of us & a few macaroons of assorted flavors. The cafe con leche wasn't creamy, it was extremely bitter & expensive. We got pistachio, salted caramel & chocolate macaroons-out of the three flavors the only one that tasted even decent was the chocolate. They weren't moist at all & literally flavorless Styrofoam. The decor inside was nice & the atmosphere was nice but other than that..... We won't be going back.

Nice, super comfortable and well put together place! Not a large place by any stretch of the imagination, there are more shelves, paintings, guitars and pillows than there ate seats here, which is what gives it the "Super Comfy" vibe... They also serve Panther coffee out of Miami here, which is a-okay by me!

I love this place. They serve Panther coffee which rivals Buddy Brew and in my opinion is a superior coffee . The ambiance here is great too. The modern design and open concept works well. I tried the Coffee Con Leches and it was one of the best I have had. I hope to see more coffee shops like this open in Tampa.

Can't offer you too much. I've been stuck on this vanilla latte since I came here the first time. I've seen the decor change, walls blown out, food added to the front, and a mixture of the working class and moms on walks coming in. The vibe here is pretty chill, chill enough to actually concentrate on whatever work you actually brought in to do instead of just staring into the the abyss. Enjoy your visit here and marvel in the different shapes these baristas can make out of your foam.

Avocado and egg on toast is divine. Enjoyed it in the cool and cozy bistro. Super attentive and friendly staff- the sociable owner makes everyone feel at home and well fed and charged up with great coffee. Love this place. On weekends the chef makes egg sandwiches to order- fresh squeezed juices and delicate pastries. Thank goodness Davis Island has a cool comfortable hangout with superb coffee!

This place is great. It feels like a neighborhood coffee bar. I love coming here in the afternoon to sip on some coffee and get some work done. Being a frequent Seattle visitor and a habitual coffee drinker, I think their beans are solid. Joe and his employees are really friendly. They treat me and everyone coming in with the utmost respect, and are incredibly easy to start a conversation with. The wine bar is pretty good too. My girlfriend and I went there one evening. The wines and prices are pretty good (~$6/glass) and the atmosphere is nice. 5 stars!

Super cute and quaint spot on Davis Island. The coffee and the chocolate croissant I had were to die for! I'll definitely return.

This place is super cute! There's an area outside to sit as well as a bar where you can sit and order but still be outside. The decor inside is also super cute with plenty of space to sit. The coffee is delicious. They have pastries, muffins and Cuban Toast and I heard then say they will have sandwiches soon. This will def be a place I'll become a regular at!

My husband had the same issue as the other reviewer for the red eye. He's used to paying more for my frou frou coffee tastes, but was appalled by the cost of his. Zigi down the street has much better pricing for coffee that's just as good. Maybe we'll try this place for wine.

$6.25 for a large redeye, $2.75 for a refill. This had to be the most expensive coffee bar in Tampa. Even in San Fransisco or New York this place would be pricy to say the least. There much better places for coffee and to hangout.

My favorite coffee in Tampa. The walk up outdoor bar is unique. It's has a little something for everyone. Great place to meet for work or social coffee inside. Never crazy crowded.

Cool atmosphere, but I am not sold on the coffee yet. Hard to compete against Starbucks quality and taste in my book. Will give it a few more shots though. If anything, it's convenient being a few blocks from my casa.

GREAT new location!!! Try the hand brewed cafe con leche and some Cuban toast. Great assortment of beverage and food offerings. Excellent decor, relax outside or in with comfortable surroundings. Free wifi. I'll have to come back later in the day for wine or beer..

The shop is cute, love the home decor for sales. But the cashier told me my total for a 16oz iced Carmel latte was $5.35 I gave her 1 $5 bill a quarter and two nickels. I asked her is that right $5.35? she said "yes" and handed me (from her drawer) a dimes and two nickels with my receipt... So either I can't hear or she can't do math.... Whatever! But it's frankly over priced a 16oz is a large... That's $5.35 - I mean I don't exactly shop by oz but it seemed like much less than 16 oz likely a TON of ice. I get it's "the island" and blah blah but It wasn't anything to write home about frankly a bit over priced for something that wasn't that special. I'll stick to paying the same amount at buddy brew for a better product. And a cashier that can count. But it's cute inside!

Great looking addition to davis island. Drip Coffee is mediocre. Pastries and food are good. Glad to see Davis boulevard evolving. Hope Tampa is swinging towards better diversity.

I love this place 100%. I go to pick up a quick breakfast or a coffee/ latte/ cafe con leche later in the day. The place is so quaint- I feel at home. The prices are fine. Not pricey at all and not pricey for what you're getting either. This is a favorite for me.

This coffee bar is great! Had the organic OJ juice with the Rosemary ham and cheese biscuit. The atmosphere is really mellow with great art! If I lived in Tampa I would come here all the time! Joe is very kind and makes sure if your food and coffee are fine.

Posh coffee place. They even have almond milk and café con leche. Limited outdoor seating but has a outside bar which is super cool.

Stopped in to check out the new coffee spot. Delicious cold brew coffee and local Tampa olive oils and balsamic vinegar for sale. Can't wait to stop in again!

Stopped in with the kids to check it out. Wonderful coffee, excellent croissants, friendly staff and lots of seating indoors and some outdoors too. The food selection is limited, but what is there is *really* good. Best part (if you have kids) is the playground one street away. One note for the owners on the cappucino - which is the best I have had in Tampa and is pretty damn good! It could be better, I think the milk was steamed too hot on mine (it felt way above 140 which is where I try steam mine too).
