The egg and cheese empanada is delicious! I'm a big fan of the zucchini bread as well. Only complaint is not many vegetarian options especially for lunch.

I stop in here almost everyday and not only is the food and coffee great but the service is amazing! Josh is usually working when I come in and is always smiling and friendly! I would highly recommend this spot.

If you want a great sandwich or salad- THIS IS YOUR PLACE!! I have made 3 Togo orders from CBC over the past 3 days- and there's a reason I keep going back. Absolutely delicious. I'm not sure how it is eating inside the restaurant, although the atmosphere looks nice (especially by the big open bar window) so I can't comment about how internal service was...BUT the past 3 days, I've received nothing but stellar service and great food. Day 1 I got the Bella and added smoked turkey. This was probably one of the best sandwiches I've ever had in my life... And I just got back from Italy so that's saying a lot. Everything was perfect. My boyfriend got the Billy Bob which was also really good, but he preferred the taste of mine. Just different types of sandwiches.... I loved both. Day 2 I ordered the Bella with the turkey again and they forgot to put the turkey on- pretty annoying as it was a to-go order so I had already left once I realized it, but when bringing it back they handled it beautifully. I was prepared to pay for the turkey addition and was not charged a dime. The two ladies on staff were apologetic and kind, providing exemplary service. Day 3 I called around 11:45 am seeing if I could order breakfast and their breakfast ended at 11, however Heather still asked my order to see if it could still be accommodated. I ordered the Buford croissant and it was ready within 5 mins- even though they were no longer serving breakfast! Once I got to CBC they were friendly, prompt, and genuine and I left with a smile on my face. Not to mention, the Buford is DELISH!!! The coffee was pretty great also. Some of the other reviews on here aren't as high as mine, but please try this place again. If only I lived in Tampa and wasn't vacationing, I would be a regular. As a college senior with a degree in Hospitality Management, I know good service when I see it and good food when I taste it! Not only does CBC check all the boxes for me, they exceeded my expectations. Even better, their food has no preservatives, filers, artificial flavoring, nitrates or antibiotics. Try this place out, you will not be disappointed! I will definitely be back.... Probably tomorrow :)

Good try...being that this place is owned by Cafe Dufrain I expected better. The atmosphere and food really need some work. A lunch consisting of 3 very small sandwiches and a lack luster salad was over $50. There was no music and terrible lighting, I felt like I was eating in the dark. We came in to use a coupon that they wouldn't even take. I was overall not impressed. Coming in at 1:30 only 2 tables were occupied, including ours shows something. It was just bad, I won't be coming back...way over priced for the quality/quantity.

Great coffee and atmosphere. Free wifi and cool. outdoor window bar seating. Great addition to Harbour Island neighborhood. Nice friendly service. Next to That's Amore and across from Cafe Dufrain restaurants.

We just had a wonderful lunch, with excellent, quick, and incredibly friendly service. This is a very cute place right off of the water downtown. The mushroom cloud soup was great, almost like a bisque, with rich and well-developed flavor. I am from Denver, so to me the price for the soup and sandwich combo was reasonable considering the location and quality of ingredients. The sandwiches were served on baguettes, which can be a little tougher than other types of bread, but they were not dry for us. The chicken salad was very good, as was the zucchini bread, which we were told was the owner's "grandmother's" recipe. The staff know and communicated a number of nice details like this about the food, which to me means they care about what they are preparing. The environment is cute and clean, and the service and food were excellent. I think this is a little local gem for a quick high quality lunch downtown by the water!

Why 4 stars? Because this is a great addition to Harbour Island. --- --- --- My experience is limited here, as I have only tried the Noah Bagel - lox, capers, onions, etc. I find that these don't range very much from place to place, so I don't judge Cry Baby solely on my one meal... what I dig is the vibe. The decor is hip and trendy. The bay doors are up, which leads to the an open air venue. They have a cooler with fancy sodas. I'll be back for lunch, and look forward to it!

Prices are a little high. We came in to have lunch one afternoon. When we arrived we were quickly greeted. I decided to order the Billy Bob sandwich, even though they were out of the Maytag blue cheese. The sandwich meat and vegetables were fresh and good. I did find the bread a little tough and dry. I had to get an additional side of mayo to get the sandwich down. The chips are cooked in house but not to order. The chips could have used a little freshening up and they would have been fantastic, but they were still good I can understand the prices because of the location but the food quality would have to be a little more improved for me to pay it again.

I attended a private party here while in Tampa for a conference. It was hosted after-hours so it is difficult to give a really accurate review. That being said, I just loved the ambiance of this place! The open-air windows are very cool. There was lots of air flow even though it was a pretty warm evening. We had food catered from another restaurant across the street that is apparently owned by the same people. I wish I had had an opportunity to go back during its normal business hours.

I was only in town for a few days for a conference, and I found this spot from a Yelp search because I needed something fresh, cheap, and walking-distance from our hotel (The Westin). I'm so glad I found this place! It's on a quiet stress, away from the hustle and bustle of the Conference Center area, on the cheaper side, and delicious. i stopped in a couple times while in-town for the sandwiches and coffee. I didn't tell any of the conference-goers about it because I appreciated the calmness in the cafe after a morning of work, and because I wanted the place all to myself! The menu is small, so be prepared for limited options. Great for sitting inside or outside, and for grab-and-go options. Prices are slightly high for what you get, however. Friendly staff, fresh food, delicious coffee. Thumbs up.

The Italian is wonderful! I recommend it on the hoagie bread! The chips are great too!

A friend and I decided on Cry Baby Cafe last week one day for lunch. We walked in at about 12:30 and there were only two customers during what should be a busy lunchtime. I was surprised because the sandwiches are wonderful here! Cry Baby Cafe is the sister restaurant to Cafe Dufrain on Harbor Island, owned by Andy Bonnemort. It is simply decorated with several tables and bar-like seating which faces the street. I had the Ricky Bobby which is made with their homemade bread served with smoked ham, dried salami, fresh mozzarella, baby greens, extra virgin olive oil and vinegar. The sandwich is also served with Cry Baby Cafe's homemade chips and a choice of a regular pickle or a spicy cry baby pickle. The sandwich was delicious and made fresh. The chips were a little bland, so I asked of the staff members for a side of their Maytag Bleu Cheese dressing. Oh my goodness! This dressing was so good that we were even dipping our sandwiches in it! The staff members on duty were very friendly and efficient. The restaurant was very clean. Parking can be a pain on Harbor Island, but we lucked out with a space right in front. As for my skill in parallel parking, well let's just say parallel parking is not my forté. After lunch, we ran into Cafe Dufrain/Cry Baby Cafe's Marketing Director and she was so excited to tell us about the new selections that were going to be added to the menu! She mentioned a Curried Chicken Salad and a Pulled Pork sandwich would be added to the menu! I subscribed to their posts on Facebook and they began serving them today! Feel free to check some other additional options they have added here: facebook.com/CryBabyCafe I would definitely come back here to try their new menu additions. I love the HI area and the laid back vibe. But until I return, I probably should brush up on my parallel parking skills, just in case we luck out with another space out front!

My fiancé were out and about and decided to stop by for lunch. I ordered the Sofia Sandwhich which came with fried like chips, a pickle and I ordered a root beet. The sandwich was ok... the bread it came on was a french baguette but it was really dry. The sandwich was good but it tasted like there was hardly any cheese on it at all. The chips were pretty good. For the price ($7-9 depending on your sandwich) it was a average but a little steep for the quality of food.

Cry Baby Cafe is on the pricier side, but their chips and iced coffee are wonderful! It's a great place to grab a quick meal.

A great addition to Harbour Island as we needed a breakfast/coffee type place. Stopped in this morning for an ice coffee and a croissant. There were two options for the iced coffee, strong and regular. I opted for the strong and it was delicious. The croissant tasted fresh and are baked in house. It's a relaxed atmosphere and there's free wifi (an absolute must for a place like this). They have a big garage door that opens towards the street that they normally open, but it was a bit chilly this morning. The prices are a little high but expected for the area. There was a constant flow of customers this morning and I hope that continues! Side note, the cafe is operated by the owners of neighboring Cafe Dufrain.

I was glad to see this place open, definitely needed in Harbour Island but I expected more breakfast options, if you are not into pastries for breakfast perhaps you need to visit during lunch hours. I've tried the smoke Salmon and the California turkey on both I wished it came on a whole grain bread. I have high hopes for the pulled pork and the brisket. Sandwiches are served with a pickle and house chips. I wish there was a fruit option or baked chips. There is not a lot of sitting but enough for the "everyday crowd" there is also an outside area if you bring your puppy.

I love this place. It's always friendly, always delicious. Given the fact that there aren't many alternatives in the area, they could have me trapped. But whether I need coffee, breakfast or lunch this has become my go to spot. The coffee is particularly good!

I'm so glad to see a unique place open up here. I travel into town every year and am always looking for somewhere to eat breakfast on the weekends as most businesses close, leaving me stranded at the pricey hotel for a $20 omelette. Friendly staff, cute ambiance, but when I brought my Buford back to the hotel room, excited about my ham, croissant and Gruyere cheese breakfast sandwhich, it was cold!!! Ugh. If I had known that I would've saved the trip. I don't know why I just naturally assumed it would be this hot melted goodness getting my fingers all messy, but I was super disappointed. Granted, lots of ham and a slice of cheese on a croissant was delivered, I'm just left wanting :(. Wish I had a heating apparatus in the room.

I think perhaps the croissants are made of gold as whenever I order the chicken curry croissant sandwich they always serve it on something else and I have to insist on the croissants. Am local and am all for supporting local business but every time I have to ask? C'mon Cry Baby get your act together.

the prices are too high. sandwiches are small and range from $9-12, same with salads. I wouldn't mind a $9 sandwich if it was filling and I had leftovers. But this was like a snack. It was tasty and service was good; hence, the 3 stars but not enough for me return. Not at those prices.

I am happy they are now serving chips with the sandwiches at lunch- that was definitely needed! I would like to suggest more breakfast options. Just a simple egg and cheese croissant perhaps. As a (mostly) vegetarian I don't want to spend $14 for the fruit and bread tray but the Noah has smoked salmon and the other option has ham. The coffee is very good and cheaper than the buzz which was in this location prior to cry baby.

I was so excited when I read About CBC. I thought it would be an amazing addition to the area, but I was so disappointed in my first two visits that I won't even return to try other items. The first time I went in for a breakfast sandwich and was so shocked to see they didn't have any egg style sandwich!! What kind of place doesn't offer any kind of egg for breakfast?! Pfft - I got the ham and cheese croissant (essentially) and it was meh. I returned hoping for lunch hoping maybe that was their thing. I got the Bella and it tasted okay, but I've had better of a similar style elsewhere. Also it was TINY. It was barely even filling and I can normally only eat half a sandwich. On top of that I spent like $15+ for my sandwich and drink!! Talk about over priced!! The one amazing thing about this place? The chocolate croissant. if I ever do return it would be just for that, but those are pretty hard to mess up so I could get one anywhere.

Cafe Dufrain new sister restaurant Cry Baby Café brings new addition to the Harbour Island area. They feature fresh baked pastries, gourmet sandwiches, salads and organic coffee. Cry Baby Café brings fast casual dining and strive on locally sourced healthy eating amongst casual waterfront setting. They are open for breakfast, lunch and afternoon snacks daily from 7am to 3pm. Being a new establishment, staffing seemed limited and as a result the warm welcome to a new establishment was not apparent to the staff that was currently there on this given day. Not to dwell on that as much seeing it is fast casual dining and they are still in the process of hiring staff. I love the concept of restaurants with and open storefront setting of where you can enjoy outside and still be climate control from inside. Cry Baby Café uses this concept in a bar like setting to their storefront. However, being the sister to Café Dufrain I come visiting with the same pet friendly mentality. The bar makes limited outdoor seating for those who stop by with dogs. Now, I'm sure due to the limited sidewalk zoning for outdoor tables was out of the question since it would obscure the walkway. Despite, after eating I remembered there is the extra patio area almost like a court yard outside Café Dufrain, which someone can possibly direct or post a note to patrons who have pets as a seating option, seeing that it is your sister company and the extra patio area does not take away from Café Dufrain normal seating accommodation. #jussayin Lets talk food!! I love in house bake breads and pastries is a signature technique that can set one establishment apart from the rest. The breads have great crispy/crunchy exterior yet a soft/warm interior. Croissant was buttery and flakey. Love, love, love their fresh baked pastries. When it came to sandwich build however this is where the menu seems to get lost. Meaning each one I sampled seemed like it was missing something to tie it all together. And I get the concept of simple and fresh, but at the price of $8 and up for a sandwich, it better having something that makes is unique. To dissect a couple: -The Birdy Lou - tarragon chicken salad, grapes, pecans, bibb lettuce on a fresh baked croissant. Tarragon to me seems like an herb where a little goes a long way and yet some may say its an acquired taste to some who like it. But for me all one can note in this sandwich the tarragon flavor. While there may be grapes, pecans for crunch probably and a great croissant this build all gets overpowered by tarragon. -Noah - smoked salmon, capers, red onion, dill?, and cream cheese schmear on a brioche. A play on traditional lox n bagel. I felt the salmon was not even a hint of smokey and the build was just missing something like an acid or a pickling. Despite my first visit, I know Cry Baby Café is still in their opening phases where fine tune/adjusting and staffing is still in process. They make a great addition to the Post Harbour Island area. I look forward to a revisit somewhere in the future.

They sell out of things quickly, but what I did have was tasty.
