Now for Happy Hour I give it a solid 5. $5 Martini, $4 wine & $3 bar well drinks. Those prices, an inside bar too keep you cool and an outside one with the best water view you could want! Oh and the specially priced appetizers for Happy Hour. The hummus trio is delish. 1 is a bit spicy, 1 veggie and all 3 yummy served with long fried plantains and triangles of soft fresh flat bread. Trio of sliders were much thicker than I expected and cooked just perfect and absolutely fit the bun, totally fabulous. They had other offerings, but this was definitely a meal, if you aren't starved. Foget their outrageous prices for small dinners and nosh on small plates, while you sip your cocktail and loose yourself by gazing at Tampa Bay!!

Went for lunch as I work right by it. Good lunch specials and the burger was quite good. Not sure if I would go back for dinner as it looks pretty pricey, but for a quick lunch around $10, it was perfect. Would definitely go back for lunch.

This is the 5th time dining with The Chart House and once again the service was horrible. After 15 minutes of sitting we finally got our water and I had to ask for our server. When asking the server Danielle what the evenings special were she said she had to check. I knew it was going downhill quick. The GM had to tell her to bring my guest a steak knife. Seriously the worse service with very pricey $35 to $45 entrees all ala carte. Food presentation was small portions with fatty sugary mixtures going on. At the end of the meal I asked the server for the check and she said she was no longer my server I said just give me the check so I can get out of here. HORRIBLE SERVICE PLAN TO ASK FOR EVERTHING. I would of been better off going to Hogans Beach. This is definitely NOT fine dining just fine dining prices. The food is average but this place still sucks big ball borsh.

Went for the waterfront happy hour and will be back! Daily from 4pm-7pm, cocktails cost less than the beer!! At $3.00 for well drinks, I was impressed! And the appetizers were priced at $4, $5 and $6. I enjoyed the shrimp and avocado tempura with a citrus chili dipping sauce and it was served with crispy skinny fries. Also enjoyed the hummus trio that was served with pita and plantain chips, the edamame was a bit on the bland side. The hubster ordered the firecracker shrimp and lettuce wraps and ate every last bite. The view is nice and the happy hour prices are right on. Would be nice if they had live music as advertised but they were pretty quiet on the Sat early evening we were there.

I'd been to other Chart House locations before and had just OK experiences. My husband and I were visiting Tampa and staying in a nearby hotel so we decided on the Chart House for dinner. Bad idea. We had a 7:30 reservation. When we approached the hostess stand, there were four hostesses there but we had to wait several minutes to be acknowledged. When they finally noticed us, we were told it would be a few minutes. 30 minutes later, we were finally seated. I will say that our waiter was fantastic. I wish I'd remembered his name. I'm gluten-free and he was very helpful when I was ordering. The food was fine. My husband did love his prime rib. We ordered an appetizer and I'm glad we did since our food took nearly an hour to come out. We won't be back. There are too many amazing non-chain options in Tampa to waste money here.

At one time, Chart House restaurants predictably served very good meals at slightly higher end prices. Mower, you invariably walked away feeling you had gotten good value for your money. Now a days it seems like you are taking a gamble and hope you get a good meal, but as often, it is probably not worth the price. Yesterday, Saturday, March 14, was a mixed bag. 1) My biggest complaint was the attire of the blond haired hostess. I don't go to a restaurant to see an employee's lingerie or a skirt so short there is nothing left to the imagination. You are suppose to be a class restaurant, so let's get some class in the staff. That hostess is setting the first impression for everything that is going to be experienced during that meal. 2) The outdoor porch provided a very pleasant and nice location for our dinner. I would rate it superior to the inside dining areas. 3) The waiter, Matt S., is clearly a professional who knows the Chart House chain and the menu. He was capable and competent in terms of handling a peanut and nut allergy, and in helping to navigate the menu and tolerant of some of our guests unique desires. 4) It would be great if the kitchen took nut allergies a bit more seriously and separated cooking of food items and did not intermingle them. 5) The Snapper Hemingway was the disappointment of the various entrees we had. At $33, I was certainly expecting a better tasting and perhaps a better plated meal. 6) As good as the waiter was, one issue was when he inserted himself into a conversation at the table. He clearly had knowledge and insight in the topic, but he should have asked if he could share his thoughts rather than just immediately entering the conversation. Not a big issue, butt believe this to be a good suggestion for him. As for coming back? Not a slam dunk. Maybe we will but just as likely we won't. Nothing that memorable to make this a regular restaurant.

Update...after posting my review a member of the restaurant said management would contact me. Two weeks later. No contact.

Cheap House would be a more fitting name. Over priced, poorly seasoned food. They served my dad's salmon with a good sized tear of paper under it, and they messed up his order. They don't even know how to cut asparagus properly, or they're literally so cheap, they purposely serve it with the tough ends so they can claim big portions. They used store bought teriyaki sauce on their "Asian beans." Literally overpriced crap on a dirty plate. Run away and save your money.

The early dining menu is a terrific value, with large portions in all 3 courses. The Chop Salad was a delightful start, with a light tasty dressing. The Pork Medallions Marsala were delicious -- 3 pork cutlets with a wonderful sauce and a bruschetta-like tomato topping. The green beans were crisp and, with the left-over cutlet, made a great 2nd meal the next day. My wife's prime rib was done just right. Desserts were simple and enormous: raspberry sorbet and ice cream sundae enough for 4. Our server, Sue, was likable, capable, and willing to provide the extra attention to make the dining experience special. We've eaten many times in other Chart Houses, all fine. The Tampa Chart House stands out.

My husband and I ate at the Chart House and was very pleased with our food and service. I had the mix seafood grilled was very delicious and my husband had the spiced yellowfin ahi he said it was great. Our waiter was very attended and so was management. Would go back and take family with us. Overall I gave it five stars but we were there at 5pm. I can see later service might be a little slow. Martha

I went there with a group of about 12 people. I felt very comfortable the wait staff was great, nice view of the bay to bad it was a bit cold to sit or walk outside. I had the shrimp plate with coconut, scampi and stuffed, the lobster bisque as an appetizer and the lava cake with ice cream for dessert. Had a good time probably go back.

Party of 10 had dinner at Chart House to celebrate grandson's graduation. The food was average, service average. Coconut shrimp tasted as if it was frozen from Sam's Club, Oysters on the half shell were the size of a quarter ($24.95 per dozen) No salad with entre (server highly encouraged us to order ($5-$7). Bill for food and beverages was $588.00. Ask server if they offered military discount. She stated no. However, she failed to mentioned an AARP discount which would have been nice since we are in our 70's and were paying the bill. It was not indicated on our paper menu. Including the $100.00 tip this mediocre dining experience cost $688.00 We did not express our concern with management because we were there for a celebration.

From presentation to taste, this was an exceptional dining experience. Very nice atmosphere overlooking the water. The coconut shrimp was awesome -- very flavorful and fresh!

What a waste. I made a reservation and when I got there they had locked up the place. When I got someone to open the door he said they closed early (2 hours ahead of published hours) because, according to him, no customers had shown up in the past 90 minutes. That told me everything I needed to know. That bad, huh? Evidently my reservation meant nothing. I went elsewhere (Bahama Breeze, a fun and busy place, is just across the street) so will never know how the food or service is.

Best fine dinning on the water. Went for a late dinner with no reservations, got seated immediately - no problem at all to get prime waterfront seating. Bottles of wine at reasonable prices, complement any dinner. My favorite dish is the soup trio, it is so tasty. Three small portions of New England clam chowder, lobster bisque, and gazpacho. The fish and chips is another great go to that is delicious.

My business partner, his wife, and I had dinner at the Chart House on Rocky Point to catch up and celebrate the success of our consulting business. Based on the other Yelp reviews of the Chart House we had steadied ourselves for a less-than-spectacular dining experience, however I would say that one person's bad review would be another person's happy night out. We honestly had a very nice, delicious dinner, and truly enjoyed the restaurant. The Chart House clearly has a 5-star view of Tampa Bay which is unmatched by many other restaurants, and that is one of their main draws. The Chart House is part of the Landry's family of restaurants, and one of their better seafood options within the group. It is a chain restaurant, and there are pros and cons of eating at chain restaurants. I've eaten at other Chart House restaurants in Annapolis, MD, Boston, Daytona Beach, and Savannah, GA, so I guess that I qualify as a fan. We started our meal by sharing a bottle of a delicious Napa Valley Merlot from the Dynamite Vineyards called Merlot North Coast if you want to try and find it. The wine was not-too-dry with hints of dark berries (cherries, blueberries, currants) and chocolate. It was a perfect blend for our meals. I started with the chilled gazpacho soup which was served in a champagne glass-sized vessel. The soup was nice and peppery with just the right crunch of fresh vegetables in the chilled tomato soup. After that I had their chopped spinach salad with warm bacon dressing, chopped egg, bacon, radishes & mushrooms. I was ready for a nap by now! My main course was Dynamite Grouper which was encrusted with crab meat, drizzled with basil oil, and served with a 'pyramid' of fried rice. I added a side of creamed spinach, which was enough to feed a small, third-world country, and I brought most of that home for tomorrow night. The food was outstanding, and none of us had any complaints about the quality of the food and the taste of our meals. Our waiter's name was Vinny, and he was spot on with his service. Very personable and helpful as we made our selections. Service was slow tonight, which seemed odd since the restaurant was less than half full. Perhaps they didn't have enough cooks in the kitchen, but we did feel as though there was a substantial wait between the courses. Fortunately the three of us never run out of things to talk about, so the evening passed quickly. Dinner ended up running about 2 hours, although we were twiddling our thumbs for some of that time. We did feel as though the restaurant was pricey and also a bit pretentious. Thankfully our waiter was a pleasant guy, and that added to the enjoyment of our dinner. The Chart House is one of those places that you would go for a business meeting, or with out-of-town guests. I don't think that the costs justify making this a regular stop for dinner, but it works as a "Special Occasions" kind of place. Bottom line... Outstanding view - one of the best in town! Food was delicious, server was terrific, but be prepared for an expensive and slow night out.

Wow what can say.....greeted right away and while they checked for a table I was offered a drink. The service was stellar all the way around. I had the shrimp cocktail for an appetizer. Shrimp was large and succulent. I ordered rainbow trout grilled and it was amazing.im not sure what they did to the green beans but they were fabulous. I would recommend the chart house to anyone.

We had the calamari, a bowl of soup, the snapper, the shrimp fresca, the spring rolls and the lava cake everything was fantastic. The service was nice and the view is incredible. 10/10 should recommend.

Chart House is one of my favorite fancy-pants restaurants. My Husband's family loves this place, and we have been to this location several times. You can't beat the ambiance and the view is just spectacular. The staff has always been friendly and attentive. My favorite appetizers are the Crab Stuffed Mushrooms and the Crab, Avocado, and Mango stack (jumbo lump crab meat tossed in remoulade, layered with avocado & mango-it is a beautiful presentation and so flavorful!) All of the seafood is fresh; I am a big fan of the Snapper Hemingway -parmesan encrusted, topped with jumbo lump crab and lemon shallot butter, served with a pyramid of fried rice. So tasty. I also enjoy the Baked Stuffed Shrimp. We usually try and save some room for the Chocolate Lava Cake. Make sure you place your order for this early, as it takes 30 minutes to prepare. I also recently discovered "The Collins" Cocktail: a concoction containing Cucumber vodka and creme de violette. We usually go to dinner, I need to head over there for lunch one day soon.

Certainly doesn't deserve three stars. Cold and dry crab, super dry and stale halibut, and clam chowder right out of the can. This rates as a stay-away spot. I really think they could do better. Any bistro would be a better choice, especially considering the price.

We made reservations for our Easter dinner, this was our first time at the restaurant and was excited to go. We checked out their menu on their website and had a pretty good idea what we wanted to order. Imagine our surprise when we were told that on holidays, they serve a buffet, at $33 per person. No, cannot order from the menu. We went to get our plates and check out the display of food, was not impressed for the amount of money we were being charged. We passed on the salad, I can make iceberg salad at home. The only vegetable that I could find, was broccoli loaded in cheese. The service was outstanding and everyone was cheerful and greeted us. Will go back again, but not on a holiday!

This restaurant had a very professional appearance with an above average view of the water, if you are eating outside. Waiters and hostesses were very good and knowledgeable, and bathrooms were also very clean and held to a high standard. I had the French Dip which was delicious. Would eat here again.

Great view but that is where it ends. Service was very slow. Another waiter stepped in to help after we were left alone for 30 minutes. After all that the food was mediocre at best and very overpriced. I cannot recommend this restaurant.

Food was good but over priced. guess they can charge for the view. Service really Lacking for a national chain. Waited for everything, waiter, drinks, bread - 20 minutes, soup another 20 minutes, cold when arrived as waiter carried it out with another order- and another 25 minutes for two SALADS!!!! When the restaurant was maybe one third full. Will not return sorry

Review update: to the credit of The Chart House, we have had several follow up contacts from the management regarding our long wait. More to the point, once we sat down the service and the food was very good. Manager Ryan explained that our problem was a one of a kind situation and I believe them. The food and service we received once we sat is reason enough to visit this store again. I trust him that it was an anomaly and will return

Had lobster grilled cheese. Was pretty good overall but not much cheese for a grilled cheese sandwich. There is brie, arugula, and lobster meat served with a lobster bisque dipping sauce. Other than the cheese I would recommend it!

Not enough value for the $$$ unfortunately...such a shame! This restaurant has a really nice location on the water, which is the primary reason we selected it to take a old friend to dinner, who my boyfriend hadn't seen in 14 years. We walked into the foyer and waited a minute, but we will not greeted by the hostess. We walked up to her and made first contact, and decided to sit on patio, under the roof. Our water came very slow. Our waitress was very friendly, and got us our first round of drinks after about 10 minutes. We went with the hummus trio, and I was really impressed! It came with pita chips and plantain chips. I don't recall ever having plantains with hummus. What an excellent touch! As I've mentioned in another review, I try hummus almost everywhere I go, and this was one of the best...maybe THE best! The guys laughed at me when I asked the waitress to box up the little bit that was left. Our guest's and my boyfriend's water cups sat dry for about 10 minutes. Our waitress came to get our food orders and didn't notice. I had to ask for another round. We had the Autumn spice scallops, and the snapper. The meals were very good. The scallops were cooked to perfection, not overdone and rubbery. Once again, our cups ran dry, this time it was the beers the guys were drinking. Now, that my friends is almost unforgivable! ;-) We waited for another 15 minutes before our server noticed. It started to rain during our meal, and our guest started to get wet. We moved our table twice by ourselves since none of the wait staff seemed to notice the downpour. Our waitress brought us the check, which was $181 for 2 glasses of cheap wine (that cost $9 / glass), 4 draft beers, 3 side salads, and 3 entrees. I'm perfectly okay with spending that kind of money on a excellent meal with great service in a wonderful atmosphere, but the service was very poor. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone, and I won't be back. Such a pity for such a wonderful location! Almost forgot to mention that we also had to wait for the waitress to pick up the check. I kept watching the other wait staff to see if I could make eye contact to indicate we needed help, but that didn't work. After about 10-15 minutes went by I flagged someone down to get it.

The management at Chart House needs to work on their customer service skills. I hate giving only one star... but this place "lost" our room reservation for an important client dinner, made us wait 30 minutes to set up a table that had way too many seats for our party, promised to "take care of us" and "make it up to us" and then comped a few appetizers on a $1300 bill. They even had the nerve to still charge us the 3% banquet fee to pay the Catering Sales Coordinator who ruined our event. When we got to the restaurant they were confused to see us. Luckily I had brought a copy of the email and deposit form that both Ryan the General Manager and Michael the Catering Sales Coordinator received from me two weeks prior. After questioning me and realizing the mistake actually wasn't my fault, they apologized and started prepping the room. Our party of co-workers and business clients waited awkwardly at the bar for over 30 minutes before being seated. We were offered nothing during the 30 minute wait, but they did comp a few appetizers once our table was ready. I do have to give major props to our waiter, John. John was extremely professional and helpful. He and the team of servers did a great job at making the best of an already awkward situation. Our party also seemed to like the food decently. The day after our dinner I followed up with Ryan the General Manager. They had added a surprise banquet fee to our check which goes directly to Michael for arranging the event. But since Michael hadn't remembered to arrange the event, Ryan agreed to refund the banquet fee. He acknowledged this had been a huge mistake and kept assuring me we could trust him with another event in the future. (No way!) When I told him that what he admitted was "a huge mistake" cost us a lot and him a few appetizers, he got defensive and questioned what it actually cost us. Apparently the quality of customer service isn't valued here. He made a vague promise to contact his boss and see about sending us a gift card, but since he's the General Manager I'm not really sure who else he would need to contact. Sounded more like he just wanted to end the conversation. UPDATE: One week later the banquet fee still hasn't been refunded and surprisingly, Ryan hasn't been in contact about that gift card he was working on.

Went in with a group of 25 or so with a preset menu this was the second time that we had made the same type of arrangements. The on duty manager Michael changed our menu and increased the price with no warning. He was dismissive and arrogant. Our head waitress was a confrontational person as well. The ONLY bright spot of the night was one of the assisting waitresses Emily. We will never back in this place again. I have never been a frequenter diner of Chart House now they have lost my business permanently but gained a public review.

I ordered fish tacos and gaspacho soup. Will return just for the soup. My wife ordered chopped spinach salad. All the food was very attractive, appetizing and tasted great. Sitting on their patio, the view was superb on a warm afternoon with gentle breeze. One word of caution. If you get their birthday gift of $25, don't wait around like I did. It expires and they don't extend it. Period.

***Not for a large group reservation*** This location has had several restaurants throughout the years. It's a really nice spot for a water-view outing. Unfortunately, we neglected to investigate Chart House prior to booking our business dinner of 14. This was a terrible experience which included one of our largest clients. Our admin. assistant contacted the restaurant within the prior weeks to coordinate the room reservation. She had several emails back and forth with the sales manager Michael and the general manager Ryan, with whom she even had several phone conversations. We set the date and party size and completed their reservation and credit card authorization form. The night of the event, a few of our client's guests arrived to find no reservation under our business name, so they sat at the bar until we arrived. The hostess explained to us that we had no room or dinner reservation for the evening. Luckily, our admin. had printed out all the emails and forms she submitted regarding the reservation. Michael, the sales manager, was very apologetic and immediately began having the staff setup our private room. It was 25-30 minutes before our room was ready. None of our guests were offered anything drinks or appetizers while we waited. Michael mentioned "the rest of the evening you'll all be well taken care of." That never happened. Once we entered the room, we noticed there were about 6 or 7 extra place settings. Our guests had to move chairs and settings to be able to form a comfortable enough table for conversations. Our waiter took our drink orders promptly and offered to order appetizers for the group. ***Our waiter John and his crew were one of the best aspects of the evening. They did an excellent job at trying to correct a terrible situation, which was not their fault - thanks for a great dinner service, John and crew!*** We were charged a $38 banquet fee. This fee is supposed to go towards Michael's efforts - which were none. Between the comp'd appetizers and erroneous banquet fee - we still received no compensation for our wasted time and embarrassment in front of our client. Ryan basically said they received our emails confirming which he forwarded to Michael, but then he dropped the ball. They eventually asked us to send them copies of all the emails back and forth because they somehow lost theirs. The food (good steaks) and wine options are decent but not outstanding enough to make up for their terrible accommodations and management service.

Slow and gross. We came for happy hour and ordered drinks (which took forever). The drinks were alright, taste like syrup mostly. Then we ordered the fish taco app. The dish more resembled scraps of meat topped with mayo. Long story short don't come here if you are expecting much.

The view is fantastic. That's it. For the money this place fails. My wife's soup sampler was cold.( the gazpacho was pretty good, though) and my crunchy Oysters came out cold too. The replaced both and they were better, but the service is slow, and the bugs were not slowed by the spray system. Come here for a drink. Not the food.

Our family had reservations for 6:30pm on Mothers Day. We were seated fairly soon after we arrived but past that we never were greeted by any waiter. It was not clear who was taking care of the section we were in. After waiting 20 min. With no sign of a waiter we left. For a restaurant that charges the prices they do, they certainly do not measure up to the expected service that should accompany the menu they offer. Very unimpressed and will not return.

Horrible. Not impressed at all. This place was horrible for a Valentines dinner. We had three different servers and none of them were particularly friendly or good servers. Ours and 3 tables around us all had something wrong with their food when it was brought. From being cold to cooked wrong to ingredient removal requests - all were problems. HORRIBLE!!!!!

Last night my husband took me to Chart house for our 3rd year anniversary. Chart house printed a special menu for us that said wishing us a happy year 3 Anniversary, which I that was pretty cool to personalize a special day for us. The manager also stopped by to say Happy Anniversary to us. Already off the bat, I liked them. The food was pretty good. We started off with the Tuna apptz, the kim chi salad that came with it, was really good. I really enjoyed the kim chi slaw, it went well with the tuna. I had the grouper topped with crab meat, suggested by the server. She sold me even though, I barely eat fish. It was good though. I was sad that my tummy wasn't feeling all that well or I would have killed it. My husband got the seafood mix platter, which looked really good. I'm not a big seafood fan, so selections were a little hard for me. Finally the dessert that I heard great things about, the hot lava cake.. it was good, but I think Chilis does a better job and for a better price. The place is very nice, but it was slow when we went. Maybe 5 tables when we were there... hmm?

Just went to the Chart House this weekend. Love the view of the water. The wait staff is very attentive. I order the Salmon, but my was charred too much. I take the top part off. The salad was good. The rice and vegetables was really good. The best part was the Cheesecake--it was so delicious and creamy. Definitely, would go back.

I have been to Landry's quite a few times, and this particular time did not stand out to me more than any other. Right now they are remodeling and it looks like it will be a very nice ambiance once they have completed the renovations. The staff was very helpful, as we had a birthday/deployment going away gathering there. I don't know if I'd be running to get back there anytime soon though!

OK for business if someone is buying but no bang for the buck here. Not my kind of atmosphere for Florida dining. Maybe if we sat outside it would have felt more local. the food was on the heavy and creamy side. Service was very good.

I was pretty unimpressed with Chart House. I was ready to be blown away - it was the first water-side dining I had after moving to Tampa, and it did not meet my expectations. First and foremost, I was very saddened by the service. The service was difficult, inattentive, and almost rude. Our server never stopped to see if we needed anything and we always had to flag them down to get anything. I was in the mood for light fare, so I just got the Calamari and Friends dish. It was good as far as calamari goes, but nothing exceptional and certainly nothing worth going back for. My friend got the Tuna Tartare, and she really enjoyed it. But still, the service really ruined the overall ambiance. I will say that as far as locations go, this is BEAUTIFUL and sitting out on the patio in the evening is a pure joy when it's nice outside. It's a fairly upscale restaurant, and the decor reflects that. The drinks were good - I had a couple of cocktails, but they were heavy on the mixers and light on the alcohol. I didn't mind, as it was early evening, but still. At $9+ for a cocktail, I expected more. If you go for happy hour, make SURE you sit in one of the designated happy hour places, otherwise you can't get any of the HH deals.

My last visit was on Mother's Day. I took my parents for the first time, and they loved it. I've been a few times and at dinner I ALWAYS get the scallops. If you like scallops - you'll love them here. Great atmosphere - the hostess(es) have always been wonderful - and the view is great! Try it in the early evening or at lunch (for the view) - and the lunch prices are much cheaper than dinner. I saw dolphins while having lunch a few months ago with my dad. Normal for Floridians in that area, but still a pretty sight to see. The ONLY downside to this place is the bar -- I've waited there a few times waiting for a good table and the bar tender was the WORST. He acts like it's an inconvenience for you to be wanting a glass of wine while you wait. So - my advice, ditch the bar and just enjoy the beautiful view (and scallops) :)!!

This restaurant has amazing food, but the worst service I have ever seen. I will say that the manager, Ryan, has apologized repeatedly and has tried to make up for it. I went back recently with my colleagues. It was the same old story- restaurant with 10 tables full total, but the staff is crying about being "so busy". I got the same server I have had in the past, and she is slow and awful. One of my colleagues told her up front we were on lunch hour, and she snipped back that "everyone was". The hostess was serving people food and drinks and apologizing left and right for the bad service. The server would come get one of our glasses and refill it, when all 4 were empty, then act annoyed when she came back to someone else needing a refill. She was irritated pretty much anytime she was expected to, you know, do her job. She was this way last time I had her. It was once again over an hour for a couple of burgers. If you get the blonde server in her late 40s, change sections!

I took my wife here for our 3 year anniversary. The scenery was very nice, the wait staff was very friendly and most of the food was quite good. pros: -during the reservation call, the restaurant asks if it is for any particular occasion. What was cool about this was they utilize this information to personalize your experience with a simple message at the top of your personal menu. Our was congrats to me and my wife's name on our 3 year anniversary printed on the menu. -Very knowledgeable waitress -scenery -Several staff members including the manager coming by and congratulating us. -Main dishes were prepared well and tasty. My wife ordered a crab stuffed grouper dish and you know it is good when my wife compliments since she is not an avid consumer of fish. I ordered a seafood medley that included a portion of Salmon (over cooked) , a crab cake (nicely done) and colossal shrimp scampi. Cons: -Price, but that is a given if you are looking for something a little higher end. -Salmon was overcooked -bread selection was dry Overall I was satisfied and recommend.

The food, ambiance & water views are memorable, but the service is extremely slow. I enjoyed my clam chowder, it was especially creamy, the chop salad was very fresh, the coconut shrimp were huge, other than the slow service it's a cool restaurant for a date night.

Stopped by last weekend to take advantage of the patio on a beautiful day. First visit to a Chart House for Sunday Brunch and this one is a winner.. Many entree choices under $15., a surprise for the quality of Chart House. The fish tacos made with Mahi and a Prime Rib French Dip were both excellent. The House specialty Bloody Mary while a little pricey was spicy and excellent.

Location was pleasant as was the service but the food was not very good. Rolls were stale. Appetizers - had the calamari , which were not crispy and lukewarm and hummus not very good. For the entree my husband ordered scallops which weren't really hot . He doesn't eat dairy so the mashed potatoes were out . They said he could have a baked potato but it cost extra. I ordered salmon in a mustard sauce that was not only overlooked but tasted awful. The meal was pricey and worse then most restaurants and we go out to eat a lot.

We went at happy hour. The service was slow and unprofessional. It took about 15 minutes for us to get anything, including getting a glass of wine or getting an extra menu, or getting our check. After we got the check, the waitress ran my credit card on a higher amount than the original check -- because she forgot to put the last round on the original one. She did it without checking with us or apologizing. It was very unprofessional. What ashamed, a beautiful restaurant with good food, but awful service.

We went there on x'mas day. The food was good especially Crab cake and Choco lava cake. The service was good and friendly. We had to wait for a while but it was a holiday so nothing to complain.

I had expectations which was probably wrong on my part. I had memories of this restaurant from a child; and, as we know NOTHING stays the same. The server was timid and slow. She didn't anticipate our needs which is key in fine-dining restaurants. There were a lot of little details that made the meal dismal. Then on top of that the food was bland and the presentation was cafeteria like. The manager came to the table and tried to make amends. But, he didn't know how to read our table either. We told him that the butter for our bread was hard and we could not spread it. He brought us some more! But, we didn't have any bread :(. Tips: Don't waste your money. Management if you're reading have a serious conversation with your Chef about plate presentation and food quality if you want to stay open. Landry's was better for this area. Too many high priced restaurants already around there.

We went for dinner and the place was not busy. We sat outside and that seemed to be our mistake. The server seemed to keep forgetting about us. There were two other servers that had tables around us that ignored us or seemed bothered when we asked for help. The bugs were bad and no one seemed to know how to turn on their bug repellant machine. When they finally turned it on, we were already covered in bites. I don't really remember the food because the service seemed chaotic. The Chart House in Daytona is so much better that it is like night and day.

We spent two recent weekends in Tampa at The Westin and this restaurant is right across the street. So, we went there twice. The first weekend was out anniversary so we went for the full dinner. The dining room is lovely and has a view of the bay and the Tamps skyline. My husband had a special that had scallops and braised short ribs. He loved it. I had trio of fish special that was very disappointing. The staff in the dining room was very friendly including the manager when he heard that my dish was sub par. The next weekend we decided to go for the happy hour (which is highly recommeded by our friends). They open at 4:00 and we arrived about 4:45 and they didn't seem quite ready for folks to be in the bar. In any event, I had a pommagranite mojito that was delish! We ordered the firecracker shrimp, prime rib sliders, fish tacos and french fries that included plaintains and sweet potatoes. Needless to say we licked our plates. My husband even ordered a second firecracker shrimp! Even better was the bill! It all came to around $55.00! So my birthday is coning up and we're going to the Sarasota Chart House for apps. Hoping for the same wonderful experience!

Came for Mother's Day dinner, service was terrible. No greeting upon arrival and had to wait with reservations. We were finally taken to our table and we sat for 20 minutes without a waiter coming once to even take our drinks. For the price of this restaurant the service was abysmal. We will not be coming back.

Happy Hour can be enjoyed on the water at Chart House, I think this, in part, is the reason I enjoyed my Chart House experience. Overall, the service was on target, and I appreciate the variety offered as part of their HH menu. I glanced at other tables and everyone's dishes looked amazing. I will definitely return.

I like going out to dine in fancy places and I really don't mind paying extra for a nice dinner. And also I expect high quality service and delicious food to be served... We had some things to do in St. Pete and after reading a very good review in local newspaper ( tampabay.com/features/fo… ) decided to try this place for a dinner. BTW, now it is called "Chart House" and the fact that the owners did not bother to make changes in Yelp's profile can tell you a lot how the restaurant is run. Poorly. Food. - Worst Oyster Rockefeller I've ever had. Imagine six tiny fresh oysters warmed in shell and covered with onion + frozen(!) spinach + separated-cream-and-cheese glue for 14.99. I did not even know oysters can be that small! Onions overwhelmed the taste and smell. It was like eating onion soup served in a miniature sea shell. Oh, have I mentioned that there was no seafood fork with oysters? And I had to use my full-size dinner fork (which was bigger then the shell). Just like eating with a ladle from a ramekin! :) - Best of Shrimp entree was good. I especially liked the crab stuffing which seemed to be the only one really wow-food in my expensive dinner. And I also managed to get plantain chips (from tuna appetizer) as a side even though they were not on the menu. I like plantains very much. That is ONE STAR in rating. - For the dessert I had cinnamon with something that looked like cooked sliced apples and whole dry cherries topped with more cinnamon and a scoop of ice cream. I could not tell you was it vanilla or caramel ice cream because everything I had in my mouth was cinnamon. - Clam Chowder was just a soup. Not bad, not great, thick and chunky, with a good seafood taste. - Prime rib was good. Potatoes were fine. - Mud pie was a piece of coffee ice cream (no pie crust) topped with chocolate syrup. You can definitely have all that food at twice less price in hundred different restaurants. Service: When you arrive there's the sign outside "valet parking". And no valets on the sight. :) Do you think anybody rushed to take care of us?! No. We were sitting in car for a while wondering what to do next - honk the horn or just park by ourselves when a guy with cleaning supplies in his hands came out. Lovely beginning, we thought... You do not need reservation for this place. First of all, because the restaurant is huge, there are plenty of tables, indoors and outdoors. And it is almost empty because people simply don't come back there. Second, the hostess does not bother to read your on-line reservations form and your requests at all (OpenTable, pay your attention to this fact!). I've asked to be seated outside far away from the entrance door. Showing us toward the table the hostess asked where we'd like to be seated (outside or inside) and chose for us the nearest table to the entrance. Next to a table with a loud company. Cute. In the entire empty restaurant she could not find a quiet place for a couple! Because she even did not care. I've deiced to choose a table by myself... And the winning prize goes to our waiter! My husband decided to go with the pre-fix menu (soup or salad, a choice of entree and a dessert) of three courses and I ordered an appetizer, an entree and a dessert so none of us would ended sitting without food. It turned out it was too complected for this restaurant. ;) The waiter served only my appetizer. I had to ask for the soup my husband ordered. It was brought within several minutes. Enough to make my hot appetizer get cold. But it was not good anyway so nothing could hurt its taste. Would you believe that he same thing happened to our dessert?! I was speechless when again our waiter served only me with my dessert! And again I had to remind him about my husband's food and again he brought it within a while. Deja vu. As soon as the sun went down it became impossible to sit outside because of huge flies. So we really had to finish our dinner in a hurry. So at the end I was so glad our dinner was over! On our way out we decided to take several sweets with us. Usually in pricey restaurants they have cute chocolates wrapped in nice paper with restaurant's name on it. Chart House has round ribbon candies. Pathetic... Update after I got a manager's reply to my post: Hi Craig! Thanks for reading my feedback. I've noticed you'd made changes on Yelp's profile, it's good. However, I believe that rebuilding the facade and changing the name of the restaurant doesn't make it "a new store". Honestly, it is a lame excuse. Good luck with fixing your kinks!

I first encountered the Chart House in Boston last year and was delighted to find out Tampa has one as well. We visited the Tampa location for the first time during Dine Tampa Bay 2012. They had a 3 course menu with several great selections for only $25. First, the view was AMAZING. I will agree, however, I was disappointed to see how empty the place was. We did receive great and fast service. The clam chowder was okay, not as thick and creamy as New England. The Macadamia Nut Shrimp was not exactly what I was expected, basically just fried shrimp. The Snapper was really great. It was a huge piece, very moist and flavorful. I will say that this one isn't as wonderful as the one in Boston but we did enjoy ourselves and received great service. I am not sure if we will return however based on the high prices and the previous reviews. With such prices I'd rather go somewhere I know has great food like The Capitol Grille or Ocean Prime.

I had higher expectations for the Chart House. This was my first time at the Tampa location, but I have dined at other locations in the past. Maybe my mind is playing tricks on me, but I remember it being pretty good. We sat outside and it was a lovely evening. Too bad it was already dark when we arrived or the view would have been spectacular. This would be the best thing about the restaurant. The best way to describe our service was awkward... I believe at one point a manager came over to our table and looked around and said "Oh you haven't gotten your food yet" and then he left and never returned. Our server was a little hard to track down and was just very strange when he was there. Food was lacking in flavor and freshness. The shrimp tasted frozen. The orzo and tomato side that came with it, seriously just orzo and tomatoes no sauce, no seasoning, very plain. Chart House proves why we like to steer away from chains, dishes are prepared with mediocre consistency. I almost bought my parents a gift card here, because it used to be one of their favorite places, but boy am I glad I got the chance to dine here first.

I was a little disappointed with Landry's on my last visit there. Their menu changed and lost the best part: lobster bisque. :( For an appetizer I had clam chowder and it was so-so. For my main course I ordered some friend oysters, which were alright. The french fries that came with them were great, but the onion ring straws were gross. The waiter was average, but a little hard to track down. Landry's doesn't hold the great standing it once had with me.

  • Adam W.

Food and value were really good and atmosphere was very diverse and strange. Not a place that I would consider to be upper class though. Huge down side to this would have been the awful attitudes by the hostess staff. I find it almost disgusting that they allow this kind of poor a click like behavior at the front door of the establishment. I know now to only eat at the bar as to bypass the almost unwelcoming host staff that caused me to erk my entire meal here. This kind of review should give a more accurate representation as to why in a restaurant service comes full circle. Good food, good value, bad impression and a much deeper and more involved letter to be followed up to Landrys corporate.

My wife noticed that The Chart House was participating in the Dine Tampa Bay Restaurant week for 2013 so we thought we would try this one out. From the start... Service was impeccable. We were given a table with a fantastic view of Tampa Bay. Service walked that fine line between being there whenever we needed them, and not hanging around and trying to talk to us. We were out to dinner to talk to each other not a waiter... and they were perfect. Menu looked great, so many things to try. I started with cup of gazpacho, it was excellent. Tasted like all the ingredients were very fresh, only wish I had gotten more. My wife had a ceasar salad, it was perfect. Dressing was a traditional dressing with a bit of an anchovie flavor, like a ceasar salad is suppose to have! She had the salmon, I got the snapper. Both were terrific. Again, service was excellent, dishes arrived promptly and at exactly the same moment. She had the caramel cheese cake for desert and I had the creme brulee. If I picked at any one small thing... the creme brulee was pre-prepared. That is the crust was the same temperature as the custard, it was freshly melted with a blow torch just before being served. That almost made me give it 4 stars instead of 5. Wine list was pretty good. I wish they had a few more by the glass, but it was a good selection without being crazy prices. We had a pleasant conversation with the General Manager when he came by to check to see if everything was the way we wanted it... Everything about our experience was positive. We'll be back. Great waterfront view in between Tampa and Clearwater, good seafood. Shocked by a few of the negative experiences that some posted, ours was 4-5 star.

Don't waste your money! This place was good as Landry's, but this reinvention as Chart House means you're paying more for food that tries too hard and misses. The ambiance is nice, but that's about the only nice thing I have to say. I won't be visiting again.

Neat location with nice view, but not near worth the cost. A dinner of four turned into a longgggg ordeal. Service was good until the kitchen delay became evident, then the staff disappeared and the friendliness became non-existent, almost to the point of rudeness. Drinks were not made well either, being heavy in the mixer category. Apps and soups were good, but salads were greatly over priced for the product. Entrees were very late coming out, and seafood was over cooked. Steaks were fine, but nothing to write home about. Overall, there are much better places on Tampa for seafood than this. It was a bit of a disappointment. :/

I do not take this lightly when I say it, but wow - best crab cakes in Tampa! Seriously. They aren't even in the shape of a cake, because they have so much crab and so little filler in them. You are given two very large cakes for the entree. I ended up eating one for dinner, and taking the other one home for a sandwich for lunch the next day. We ended up getting there a bit early for our reservation, so we sat out on the patio and indulged in the happy hour. Amazing price on both the food and the appetizers. We got the ahi tuna wontons and they were so tasty. I could have eaten multiple plates of them. It is on the pricy side, but if you are looking for a good seafood restaurant, close to Tampa, located right on the water, Chart House is your spot!

Went on a Friday and there was no one in the restaurant. This did not change the service which was terrible. Salad was brown and waiter brought dessert with nuts on top after we told him we had a nut allergy at the table. Won't be back.

This place tries to be pretentious and upscale, but fails miserably. High prices for bland food; the service was absent-minded as well. The waterfront view is the only thing that is great about this place. The old Landry's was much better.

While in town for meetings, we wanted something on/near the water to get some seafood. Our party of 5 arrived about 7-7:30. We walked in and could see about 2/3 of the restaurant was open. The nice hostess told us it would be 15-20 minutes...that we could wait in the bar. Ploy or understaffed? Once we were seated, the waiter was helpful and knowledgeable. The food was pretty good, I had the tuna sashimi/tartar app that was really good. Grouper for my entree, very good. Only issue I had was the service, when he was around was good, but the overall experience took over 2 1/2 hours. Way too long for my tastes. In a nutshell, good food, good service but drawn out too long.

Great view taking over the old laundry's site - which I miss. We went in the middle of the day with an open table reservation but didn't need it as the place was pretty empty. Had the lobster bisque which I though was excellent with nice chunks of meat. It was lunch so I opted for the grouper sandwich and it was excellent. Would return again.

I was very disappointed with the service at Landry's. The request for garlic bread was forgotten a couple times, and the 'on the side' request for butter on the baked potato wasn't noted either. I ate grilled scallops which were excellent... and we had salmon as well. The salmon was fresh, very well prepared as well. Bottom line: pay for the food, not the service. If you want both, check elsewhere.

  • C G.

The service was slow & management apologized, attributing the lag between courses to 'problems in the kitchen'. We left without eating the entrees - but the bill was minimally adjusted. Our last night in Tampa was ruined as a result of this dining experience.

Service is always good, friendly staff, great view!!!, clean, spacious, and comfortable, price can be a bit too much for it's portions and quality, and food was good but not GREAT. I was expecting portions to be bigger.. The Angel Hair Lobster Tail pasta was good but not enough to fill me up. They do have fresh green salads and very good deserts! Samples of the [non-edible]desserts are display upon entrance. Exterior decoration is like a vintage theater, but by the beach! Interior is dull but acceptable with a few fishing gears mounted on the walls. Definitely dine outdoors if you get the chance to, beautiful view.

We went here twice this past Thanksgiving week, and while I always loved Landry's Seafood elsewhere, this one was just OK. We were underdressed, sure, in blue jeans, but we did have the kids put on collared shirts. I'd figure Tampa would be used to tourists though, and that wouldn't cause them to cut down on the service. First time here, I sort of felt like we were a distraction. Seemed like the server couldn't wait to get away from our table. Our kids might not have been on their very best behavior, but they weren't being a distraction, especially considering there was a crying baby a few seats away. Maybe they just don't like kids. It is a pretty ritzy atmosphere. My fried seafood platter was great ($30), just like other Landry's and one of my son's really, really enjoyed the crab feast ($40), while my other son chided him for being spoiled rotten and wasting Dad's money. I told him we were on vacation, so don't worry about it, and he was glad he ordered it. Wifey loved her lobster tails (menu said market price, and I was smart enough not to ask). The Landry's Banana Foster is huge and delicious, and definitely made this a plus. Not quite enough for four stars though, compared to other high-end seafood restaurants. Maybe I'm rounding down. We still came back for Thanksgiving dinner though, and once again was just a little disappointed. They had all you could eat buffet all day with $28 for adults and around $14 for my 2 kids under 12, I think. The buffet included Landry's delicious fried shrimp, and crab legs, but the rest was pretty standard Thanksgiving day buffet fare. Mainly I was disappointed by the desert section. They did have a chocolate fountain, but that was the highlight. No bananas foster, no cheesecake, nothing extra special. When I saw one of the servers taking a cell phone call on the floor, I decided I could only do 3 stars. Plus the absence of cheesecake meant we had to do a trip to cheesecake factory the next day.

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE should you ever try this restaurant. We just had our Thanksgiving dinner at the Chart House and it was a complete disaster. And when I say complete, I mean an absolutely horrible experience which includes bad food and terrible service. The good. The wine - even though it took 15 minutes to get our first glass and the second was brought to us after our food arrived, which was at least 15 minutes after I asked for additional glasses of wine. The bad, everything else. Food, Service and Manager. The food arrived cold and under cooked. I ordered a steak which arrived cold and I think it was just raw. I said RAW, not rare. I ordered it medium. But I did not cut into it until AFTER my wife and mom already sent their turkey dinners back because they were cold. I asked for more bread when the meals first arrived. The bread never materialized even after I asked the manager who was sent over because of all of the problems. After they microwaved my wife and mom's turkey dinners, I was still waiting for my steak, which came out RARE this time. No manager, no waiter ever came back to check on it. I ate 2 bites and left the steak mooing on the plate. I asked the waiter to bring the check and desserts to go as quickly as possible. This was the only thing that was done with any kind of efficiency because I think they were just ready for us to leave. Just a comment about the manager. He said "they usually execute at a very high level." If they had no plans to do this on Thanksgiving Day, they should not have opened. I wanted to eat our dinner here because I expected good service and good food. Never again. I was so disappointed. BTW, Yelp doesn't allow Zero stars, if they did, this review would not have a star.

From the moment we arrived to the moment we left I felt completely immersed in my dining experience. The waiter was extremely knowledgeable, and suggested probably the best dish I've had in years. The atmosphere was warm and intimate, the food superb, and a wine selection to match. Thankful to have had such a great time. I will definitely dine here again.

My coworker and I HAD to meet our boss here. He visited us once a month on the road. My dread turned into one of the best dinners I've ever had. Landry's staff and atmosphere turned my intimidating boss into a regular person at least for an evening. (with a little help from white zinfandel) We dined outdoors even though it was in the fifties. The heat lamps helped a little. My partner and I were enjoying a local brew that I wish I could remember the name of while my boss was waving w zins left and right. Hmm. We sucked down a dozen oysters and tried the seafood poppers. Not bad. I had the filet with lobster tail. The filet could be cut with a butter knife. And the tail? Perfect. My friends had the seafood platter. Fried perfectly. I was apprehensive about Landrys when I found out boss was paying but a very nice meal and excellent service outside on the bay.

Our dining experience was HORRIBLE! A two hour wait for entrees and received the incorrect entree. 20 minute wait for 2 drinks. The wait staff was not attentive. Atmosphere is most certainly not business casual worthy. Food is absolutely not worth the price. Will never return and would not recommend.

To start the only star in this review goes toward the design of the restaurant and overlook of Tampa, great location. Myself and a group of 16 professionals went to the chart house expecting a grand meal with grand service. With entrees averaging $30-$40 a plate you usually expect quality. Anything could be further from the truth. We had made very reasonable, simple request to our waitstaff which they continuously ignored. The Caesar salad came out for ones who ordered it, and the greens were wilted. I've never seen anything like it except at an all you can eat buffet. Ones who ordered the lobster bisques there was definitely no lobster but substitute that tasted medicinal. All of us were always dry with drinks both alcoholic and water. The main courses came out all together like they should except one individual which they said "sorry, we charred your pork and it will be out shortly" not compensating anything in the meantime. The rice came as a side to the main courses in such a failed attempt to look appetizing pyramid shape and every one agreed that rice out of a box would have tasted much better. The fish was stale and anything but fresh which is what they claim. To top it off we had individual checks in which I still think one of our friends is sitting there, waiting for them to correct after charging them $500 for their meal. Utter fail by the chart house and waitstaff, you couldn't have done this to a worse group of patrons to dissapoint as it will be X10 to the people, and patients we advise not to ever step foot in this debauchery. Good luck with keeping your business alive. I blame the owners.

FIRST REVIEW DOPE DON'T GO HERE! Awful ok me and my college friends have been laughing about this place since we went like two days ago. Our waiter didn't like us because i asked for a corona because I'm a college student on spring break but I'm still 20 so he wouldn't serve me.. that's cool but we were perfectly friendly and he proceeded to treat us worse and worse. First the Oysters on the half shell came with ketchup instead of cocktail sauce, My friend asked if they had barbecue sauce for her burger and the waiter told her " No we aren't in New Orleans or Texas" MAD RUDE.. Then he came back and refilled our half empty sprites with water..R U SERIOUS! My friend who ordered the popcorn shrimp got halfway thru her meal and said the rest tasted like DISH SOAP.. she spit the next one out, i tried one and couldn't swallow it. we didn't complain but we should have but we left him a 1.30$tip which was generous. And last but not least he OVERCHARGED us 75$ for the four of and only one of us had a appetizer... NEVER AGAIN good story BUT NEVER AGAIN

We had a great dinner this evening. We were seated right away. For an appetizer, we ordered the crab stuffed mushrooms and they were AWESOME! Next, I had lobster bisque and it had a lot of chunks of lobster in there. My husband had a salad with a delicious balsamic dressing. For our main courses, I had the crab and avocado salad and my husband had the chilean sea bass. Both were excellent. And for dessert, we had the bananas fosters. OMG...it was so good. We could have licked the plate! We will definately go back there, although each visit might mean an extra hour at the gym:)

I went the other day for happy hour and appetizers with my partner. When I called to make a reservation, I was hung up on after being put on a brief hold. They were extremely busy when we arrived, and we had a waitress that was training another waitress. While I understand the added burden of training someone new, the service could have been much better. They gave our calamari to another table and we had to remind them, to which the waitress exclaimed "Oh!" And she ran off and added another order to the kitchen. At the end of our dining experience they pitched the rewards program that their dining chain/group offers and it was extremely classless and unprofessional; I just wanted to have a fun evening and Chart House really let me down this time (not my first time at this location, I typically enjoy the food/atmosphere here). While the food I had was delicious, I got food poisoning from either the shrimp or the mahi fish tacos. I felt fine after consumption and everything seemed thoroughly cooked, but after returning home about three hours after, I began to feel sick. I felt warm and I began to perspire some and then it came...after vomiting three times, I returned to my normal color and vowed that I would not eat here again. Reasonably priced, great wine list, but honestly...after getting sick from seafood at a restaurant, that is the only and final straw for me. I will not eat at Chart House again. Severely disappointed.

Decent happy hour and great view! As a happy hour enthusiast it's hard to find one that I haven't already hit in Tampa. I typically shy away from chain restaurant (totally love supporting local business) but am glad I gave this place a shot. It's a pretty central location with ample parking. Very fun energetic blues and greens make up the crisp decor. Happy hour is served at the bar, in the adjoining lounge area and also on the patio if you sit at a high top, which you want to do because the view is great! The drinks weren't as strong as I would like but the food was flavorful and prepared very well. Definitely try the fried artichokes super yum! If you want a chill happy hour that you can relax with a friend and enjoy a sunset without going all the way to the beach this is your place.

The Chart House has a great happy hour, so I encourage you to give it a try. The only complaint that I had was that a girlfriend and I were strictly there for apps and drinks, and the server kept hounding us to order entrees. Then when we finally told him we were good with the 3 apps we had, he was dismissive and seemed annoyed. Oh well, maybe he was having a bad night. We had the hummus app, the crab stack (deliciously different layers of flavor) and the calamari. I would definitely go back for a cool night on the patio for cocktails. Note: They have a great outside bar and patio area that would make a wonderful spot for a Company Event.

The Chart House is one of my favorite spots to chill out at after a long days work so I was rather disappointed today when I walked in and after 10 minutes of sitting and waiting for service on the outdoor patio not one way person came to check on me. So very disappointingly, I got up and left.

I returned to the Chart House for a work dinner. The wait staff was very friendly. They were a little overwhelmed with the dinner service. I get that handling a room with 50 diners is tough, but you should bring the steak knives before the main course, not 10 minutes after serving the main course. The house salad was generic. The prime rib was under seasoned, and it was room temperature by the time I got the steak knife. Cheesecake was completely forgettable. The location is beautiful, and this is a nice place to visit for a drink after work. But the food isn't great, so I'd probably move on for dinner.

I always seek out a Chart House when I travel. We sat outside on a nice night with a view of downtown Tampa across the water. Perfect. I had a cup of Clam Chowder, and my friend had the "Best of Soups" - a sampling of 3 of their soups. We both liked these. I remember chowder being a smaller serving on previous visits at other locations, and this filled me up a bit too much. I could barely touch my dinner and dessert. I had the mixed grill with salmon, crab cake, and shrimp scampi. The salmon was the best! I followed that with the Chocolate Lava Cake, which you have to order with your meal, because it takes a while to prepare. It was so sad, I had no room for it and only picked at it. My friend did not help. Ha-ha! I would also recommend the encrusted mahi mahi. It's delicious!

Chart House is the best example of just how bad chains can be. The menu replete with over sauced, over flavored junk farm fish, tony portions made up by gloppy fatty toppings and at high prices. Cocktail menu all sophisticated sounding choices but between us and tables around us noted the syrupy over sweet fruit juice and cheap booze trend. CH's are typically in cool venues and this one no exception on Tampa Bay. Nice modern open room and nice outdoor area next to water. But it seems the bean counters have taken over and optimized the menu and results for max profit at the expense of customer sat. This place needs a return to serving edible food, source it's ingredients out of the corrupt industrial food supply chain and focus on the customers and ripping them off with overpriced and faux trendy options.

I have enjoyed dinner here (mainly fish or steak) but my absolute favorite is happy hour. The hummus, east meets west, and med chicken pita are three of my favorites. The flavors are great, the items are creative (there is a green hummus that is different than any I have tried before, I am sure you were thinking how can hummus be different) and the portions are surprisingly large for apps. I do love the view (and have been to the Savannah, GA location where I would say the same) and like the dinners but the happy hour is what keeps me coming back!

Great view awesome drink specials at happy hour. Fantastic hummus. My friend had the spinach salad which was Delish and tasted like bacon. Chopped salad was not good. Did not taste like the lettuce was fresh.

Amazing view of the beautiful bay. Great prices on drinks and appetizers EVERYDAY 4pm-7pm. $5-6 specialty drinks like mojito and margs. $3 mixed drinks. This is a high end restaurant by night, so you know the apps are good. Definitely a great place to grabs drinks after work! -lettuce wraps -bang bang shrimp -grilled artichokes -fish tacos -prime rib sliders -ahi nachos Just to name a few...

I am trying to figure out how I have never come here before. Should point out, this is a review of happy hour only, or considering the time we arrived, happy 45 minutes. We were looking for a new place to enjoy ourselves on a Friday after work and remembered a friend suggested Chart House happy hour, so we checked it out. They have a good happy hour that runs until 7 PM (none of this 6:00 or 6:30 crap) and a menu of varying prices ($4-$7 I think) for different appetizers and drinks. Overall, a tremendous selection and something for everyone - specialty drinks, regular liquor drinks, wine, beer, meat, seafood, and vegetable appetizers. You should know though that happy hour is only available at the bar or the patio, but this is Florida in January - why would you sit inside? The patio is overlooking Tampa Bay (well, its one of the bodies of water, and I just assume they are all Tampa Bay), and there are beautiful views. The scenery alone is worth 4 stars. We each got a mojito - she got a mango and I got a pomegranate. Both were awesome. Crisp, refreshing, and made perfectly. I don't remember which appetizer she got, but I got the Prime Rib sliders. Great choice by me. They were gone in seconds, but they were prepared perfectly. I could have eaten 10 of them, and for $7 for 3, I might have to next time. I was sorry to see happy hour end, but thankfully, there will be many happy hours in the future.

Great food and great service! Wish they had valet...it was storming. The spinach salad & coconut shrimp was awesome! I also signed up for the Landry's Select Club card, very worth it.

Great service and appetizers. Food was on the bland side but was dissaponted with the Lava cake. For it being prepared 30 mins before and all the fanfare, it didn't really meet my expectations. Have had much better in places much cheaper. Creme brulee was good.

Expected average at best but boy were we pleasantly surprised! Lobster spring roll was fresh. The spinach salad could have been a meal in itself. I had Arctic Char and it was moist with a wonderful sauce. My husband had the grouper and it was also well prepared. Even his green beans were tasty! Waiting on the choc lava cake as I write this but based on water view, atmosphere and service, I would definitely come back.

Holiday Christmas party. The drinks were flowing from the get-go and that's always good for keeping things loose. The appetizers, both at a station and served by the wait staff, were tasty but not spectacular. I particularly enjoyed the ahi tuna appetizer...but not the fact that it was a nacho. I get the concept of making it a quick grab-n-eat, but really? Tuna on a nacho? For dinner we had a choice of prime rib, chicken or salmon. I went with the salmon and it was very good. The NY cheesecake for dessert was just ok, but I'm not the world's biggest cheesecake fan either. All in all, a pleasant party experience.

There's a Chart House in Las Vegas at the Golden Nugget that I have been to numerous times and loved, yet, for some reason I'd never visited the local one in Tampa. Decided to try it out for a wedding anniversary and told the hostess that when making the reservation after she inquired if it was a special occasion. When we arrived and checked in, we were seated immediately and the restaurant had printed menus just for us that said our names and happy anniversary along the top. In Vegas, I get three things when I go to Chart House: Spiced Yellowfin Ahi, Shrimp Cocktail, Chart House Margarita (typically a few of these). I decided to switch it up a bit locally and tried the Snapper Hemingway. It's $2 less than the tuna and unfortunately left me wishing I had stuck to habit. It's not that there was anything wrong with the snapper, but I guess I just didn't care for the flavor produced by the snapper and crab meat combo. I wasn't a fan and the tuna is fantastic, so it is what it is. My being used to Vegas, and the casino picking up my Chart House bill, I think also made me not really take notice of how much margarita you get when you get a $12 margarita. Is it very good? Yes. Is it made with premium liquor? Yes. But Chart House uses shaved ice, and a lot of it, so your $12 margarita reaches the bottom pretty quickly and makes you wonder where the rest of what you paid for has gone. So, my recommendation, if someone else is paying, order up, but if not, my fall back is rum and coke and that's a much better value here. I think it would be more along the lines of an $8 margarita if they really wanted to give you a reasonable value. I've heard that they have an awesome Friday happy hour where many of these $12 drinks are $6. My wife had the filet, and Bernaise sauce, both of which were prepared perfectly. My final tip. Become a Landry's Select Club member in advance. It costs $25, but you get a $25 credit to use during a visit. You also get another $25 on your birthday, and every dollar spent is a point towards future meals. It's free money basically. There are many restaurants in the club.

Bad service from management, probably why the place is dead all the time! The food is good though so hats off to the chef. Forget about your "rewards" card if you're a regular there. The points expire and when you ask the server about it they respond with "who did you speak with?". Like I remember who I ordered my lunch from a month ago??? I specifically went there to pick up 2 expensive cobb salads for lunch so I could use my rewards points and that didn't happen. They told me they expired, even when I chose to save them less than a month ago while I was there! If I would've known at that time I would've used them. I should've gone to J. Alexander's! You can never go wrong there!

I have been several times for lunch and enjoyed each time. The dinner time Happy Hour is a good deal though the bar area gets packed quickly so it can be difficult to find a spot to sit/stand. The lunch specials are very good and the food has always been good. I love the location and views and service is normally pretty good. I joined the program they have to gain points if you go there a lot...might be something to look into since it is good at all of their affiliates around the country.

We walked in at 6:40 with a 6:45 reservation. We walked over to the hostess table and there were 4 ladies at the table but they were all too busy chatting to have even realized that we were there. When they finally turned around to greet us they asked if we had a reservation. We told them that we did but it took them awhile to locate it. When they finally did locate it they simply asked us to wait a moment. Did not say how long we would be waiting, why we were waiting, nothing. Well we waited an HOUR. Yes, we had a reservation and waited an hour. When they finally called us over and went to sit us down, it was not even a table with a view, which is what we specifically requested. After we were seated, we sat for 10 minutes before we decided to get up and GO. We were not going to wait another hour for someone to come over and acknowledge us. We had a horrible experience on our date night out and we hope that they really get it together here. I also have to say that I was very disappointed to see how some people were dressed here. Expect to see people in sneakers, shorts, sandals, etc.

Nice relaxed atmosphere. I am a Select Member through Laundry 's Restaurant so even though I did not put in for a reservation, I was seated in the main dining area. That shows me that they value their members. Kudos to Chart House for that. I really appreciated that because this was a last minute decision on Mother's Day. I ordered the Lobster Bisque and Coconut Shrimp, it was prepared and delivered hot and fresh. The coconut shrimp was presented so beutifully that I almost did not want to et it, just look at it. Kudos in all areas to Chart House. The food was tasty.

Wonderful location and great event space however not going back again due to poor service, bad fish, and to be honest the foods not good. Spend your money on a place like whiskey joes that has better food, less pretentious drinks and far better service white table cloth or not.

We ended up here as a last minute birthday dinner plan switch as the original restaurant we have reservations was too loud/noisy (someone bought out the restaurant and was throwing a club party; our table was on the dance floor...) Chart House sat us right away. Even moved tables for us to seat 12. The East Meets West appetizer was superb. Would def recommend this. Dinner rolls and crackers were complimentary. The butter on the table was delish. Ordered the apple salad. Loved it. After all of this, decided to just share the Prime Rib with the bf since I was so full. It was ok. Wouldn't order again. Would definitely come back for drinks/appetizers, possibly dessert next time. Would probably try another dish besides steak.
