Such a little hidden gem! While they do offer a few tapas items, this is really an excellent botique wine store with a low corking fee of $5 for consumption on-premesis. The decor and atmospere are top-notch. They do wine tastings and a food truck on either Wednesday or Thursday as well. We live in St Pete an this place is well worth the drive!

Casa Jimenez is a terrific wine & tapas bar that has recently opened down the street from me in southern Carrollwood. Casa Jimenez is named after Jose Matias Jimenez who opened the original Café Jimenez in Havana, Cuba in the late 1950's. His son and grandchildren opened this new location in Tampa 4 months ago to honor the founder and showcase the family's love of fine Spanish wines and delicious small plates tapas. You'll find Casa Jimenez along Gunn Highway, right after the intersection of Linebaugh Avenue, and adjacent to Val's Home Décor / Basket Warehouse. Casa Jimenez is first and foremost a wine retail store with a large selection of popular Spanish wines, along with imported hams and cheeses for sale. This includes salt-cured hams such as Serrano, Iberico, and Iberico de Bellota hams. Embutidos such as chorizo, morcilla (blood sausage), lomo (smoked pork loin) are also available along with Manchego cheeses from their deli cases. In addition to the retail store there is a cozy café area where small groups are encouraged to enjoy some wine and order small plates of tapas while they visit. This is not a full restaurant where you can expect big plates of food, but rather a place to enjoy a glass of wine along with daily tapas specials such as sardines, mussels, octopus, and squid; sliced baguettes with an olive tapenade spread, slices of Manchego cheese, Serrano ham and Piquillo peppers; flat bread pizzas; and some other tasty treats. The tapas offerings are $5 - 6 each, and they pair nicely with a wide variety of wines by the glass or by the bottle. I enjoyed a glass of Pietan Albarino white wine from Galacia Spain, and matched that with some smoked Manchego cheese, a small plate of sardines, and a flat-bread pizza with olive tapenade, sliced cherry tomatoes, sliced Spanish olives, Serrano ham and Piquillo peppers. All for about $20! Casa Jimenez has a variety of scheduled events including evenings with various winemakers, importers, and food purveyors. I am told that once the weather warms up they will be offering homemade Sangria made with a variety of local fruits. Very fun place to stop in and enjoy a nice glass of wine with a few small plates of tapas and pleasant conversation with your friends.

We invaded the cafe tonight with about 40 people, yes they knew we were coming and yes it slowed service down. First your GPS is going to lie to you about it's location. It is located on Gunn Hwy. Just south of Linebaugh, next to Vials Baskets. I live very close and got very lost! The couple that run this wine shop have a limited menu and are quite committed and very knowledgeable of wine. Personally I have a thing for Armenian wine, can't quite explain it but it is true. I walked into the wine store area and there is a bottle of Armenian wine looking at me for $6.99. You pay a $5.00 corkage fee and that is that. They only have a few tapas and I ordered the meatballs. Big, moist, tasty meatballs, that reminded you nothing of Italian meatball, but all 3 were daring different, delicious and hit the spot. We had a large group there and they handled it like seasoned veterans. This is another independent establishment with it's original roots in Cuba. It was a great place to mingle, talk, eat, drink and discuss possible vacation destinations. A great time was had by all and mom, dad and son did an exceptional job of catering to our every whim. They have a great wine shop, as well as the vine shop with a few food items! What's a girl to do? Buy a bottle of wine and sit back and share it with friends.

Very good Tapas lunch, great place for a business lunch. We had a meat plate, cheese plate, and olives. Everything was fresh and tasted awesome. The owner and his son are very hospitable, and they know their stuff! Very educated on Spanish cheeses, wines and meats. Highly recommend if you like tapas or want to try it for first time.
