Amazing! Great prices very affordable. I got there for breakfast at least once a week. Today I got a large bacon egg and cheese cuban and empanada for $5. Can't beat it!

Cute little Puerto Rican joint. Breakfast and lunch available. Wasn't a fan of their Cuban sandwich, but their plates were amazing.

It would be real easy to drive right past this little lunch counter / café located along Waters Avenue, about a half mile east of Sheldon Road, and that would be a terrible shame. The Caribbean Sandwich Shop is tucked inside one of a series of little ethnic shopping strips -- in between a tattoo parlor and a drive-through beer barn. Don't be put off by the neighborhood since this place is serving up some very delicious breakfast and lunch options to their loyal customers. I was out in NW Hillsborough running a series of errands, and checked through my Yelp bookmarks to see what looked interesting. The reviews were absolutely on target about the terrific food being served up at the Caribbean Sandwich Shop which is run by a father - son combo from Puerto Rico. I'm not sure if they actually have a printed menu, since most people come in and order one of the specials from the wipe-off board from behind the counter. In the tradition of a great short-order diner, they just ask for whatever they want, and minutes later the food is delivered to the front counter. The big painted window mural talks about their Cuban sandwiches, so I had that on my mind as I walked through the front door. I looked up on the Specials board to see what looked tasty. The fellow behind the counter told me that today's big seller was a pressed pastrami sandwich, made in the style of a Cuban with thinly sliced meat, grilled onions, cheese, lettuce and mustard all pressed on a Cuban roll. Add a can of Diet Coke to my order, and the whole thing was about $7. SCORE!!!! There was a steady stream of lunchtime regulars who were either sitting at one of the tables, or carrying out their bags of deliciousness. The guys behind the counter seemed to know everyone by name, and also seemed to know everyone's "usual" order. That kind of loyal customer base is a great sign. I see that the Caribbean Sandwich Shop also features a meatloaf sandwich for lunch, so I need to go back and check that out in the near future. If your travels take you along Waters Avenue heading from the Vets towards Sheldon, then do yourself a favor and stop in here one day.

What a nice surprise! We come to this area of town all the time to visit family. We were looking for a quick place to grab breakfast and found this cafe on yelp. We were welcomed immediately and taken care of really fast. I can tell many locals come there. We got two large cafe con leches and two egg and cheese sandwiches. It was delicious! We'll spread the word about the quaint, welcoming shop to our family. We'll return for breakfast and to try other food too. It's so nice to find a place like this because we refuse to go to fast food places. We love supporting independent businesses.

It's the Food and the service that keeps me coming back. I was actually recommend by a friend an so I had to come in and check for myself. So glad I did. Everything who comes with me enjoys the food as well. Puerto Rican coffee (it's a different kind of coffee than Cuban) and the breakfast sandwich are great.

Excellent service: I was greeted and given food recommendations as a first-timer. Real home/local diner feel with what looks like a bunch of regulars. Decent food and reasonable prices, although my wife did not care for the Cuban sandwich (she's Miami Cuban).

Been wanting to try this place out and finally stopped by for breakfast and glad I did. Although the lines were long, it moved quickly. Had the egg, cheese and sausage on Cuban bread. Awesome! Caribbean will be a regular stop from now on.

I love this pop and son spot. This is a restaurant that goes without saying simple menu executed well can be successful. I generally order breakfast, which consists of the caribbean sandwich (an omlette sauteed with red and green peppers and onions on cuban toast) and coffee large or small THATS IT!!! At a minimal price around $5 to $6 bucks for both. The key element is an inviting environment. They remember the regulars, and they engage in small conversation with anyone who enters their restaurant. This goes a long way especially when venturing and trying to find something new. I noted many of the other reviews praise their other latin entrees. As a result and the vibe of an inviting environment can one day possibly call me a regular at the caribbean sandwich shop.

This place has my new favorite for sure. Came here on a wends-day just before lunch and im glad we did. Line started forming out the door when we left, better send Jim from receiving early boys cuz you aint get any food till after lunch time. We all order the Cuban sandwich because of a previous yelp-er said to get here instead of Columbia. I still want to try Columbia and compare but man im glad this ended well.

I felt a bit guilty for not continuing my best Cuban hunt last night, so this morning I decided to ask the folks at the Caribbean Sandwich shop if it was too early for a Cuban. The owner looked at me kinda odd, like "huh?". He started saying he didn't have pork this early in the morning, but then pipes up "hang on, I think I may have some in the back". I love these guys. These guys are from Puerto Rico. They run a small but awesome little sandwich shop in a tiny little strip mall on Waters Avenue. It's not much to look at, but looks can be deceiving. They certainly are in this case. If you are familiar with Puerto Rican cuisine, you know what a "sancocho" is. Come and try it here. It's only on Saturdays, and it's gone by 11am, so come early. So, how do these Puerto Ricans fare with a Cuban? One word: outstanding. The trick is the bread and the pork, and on both counts they scored. The pork to ham ratio was still low by my standards, but closer to 2:1, which is a lot better than most other Cubans I've had lately. And the pork was juicy and flavorful, the way pork should be. Sorry Boar's Head, your pork doesn't even come close. I'd give this place 4.5 stars, but I pushed it to five for two reasons. First, they are from Puerto Rico. That counts in my book. But second, the owner's willingness to accommodate my request show the pride they take in their business, and that's good for a 5th star any day. I recommend them highly. As far as small, authentic, and Cuban sandwich serving sandwich shops (even though they're not really Cuban :) this is as good as it gets!

This is a gem of a Latin restaurant. I've been driving by this place for nearly ten years and never thought to stop by -- it wasn't until I saw the reviews on yelp I thought I would give it a try. So glad I did. The name is somewhat misleading, for whatever reason I was expecting more of a jerk chicken type of menu but it turns out to be all Latin cuisine all the time. The Cuban sandwich is the best I've had at a lunch spot anywhere in Tampa. The incredibly priced lunch platters are simply amazing. Breakfast is decent but the real star here is the roast pork. Just order whatever you want so long as fresh roast pork is part of the dish. (I'm fairly certain it is Puerto Rican style) One thing to keep in mind is the shorter hours of operation. I can't fault this family restaurant on that, however. In fact, it kind of makes me love this place even more.

Sometimes a girl just craves yellow rice and roast pork. And when I do, I normally order them from the Columbus/Armenia area. For this particular occasion, however, I had business in the Citrus Park area and needed to order some Cuban sandwiches. I jumped on the trusty Yelp app and found a few places nearby. Glad I went with this place because it's super delicious! I called and placed an order for 5 Cuban sandwiches to be picked up at noon. I got there a little early so decided to wait inside. Good thing I did because once inside I couldn't resist trying out their lunch platter (rice and a meat for $6.75). I have a weakness for yellow rice and roast pork so that's exactly what I ordered. I asked for it in a togo box (thinking I won't finish it because, as with most Latin places, they give you so much food), but I ended up eating the whole thing. Yes, I'm a pig, but in this case the portion here is a bit smaller than other places, I swear! The yellow rice is tender and seasoned just right and the roast pork is so flavorful. I actually was full but felt like I wanted more. The Cuban sandwiches were done just in time for me to get out of there before I stuff myself further. I was a little sad because all the sandwiches went towards a work function so I did not get to try any of them. Good excuse as any to be back...real soon.

I searched my Yelp App here in the Town N Country area of Tampa for a Cuban sandwich, low and behold I was recommended The Caribbean Sandwich Shop. Great Cuban at a great price! Met the father and son owners who were extremely friendly. The roast pork had a great flavor and was not that salty, it def made the sandwich I definitely recommend this place as I definitely will be returning! Cheers

This is the best Cuban that I've had in Tampa! I recently moved from South Tampa and everyone down there seems to love the Cherokee store or the Green Stores Cubans, both of which are awesome but now I'm living in Town and Country and wanted to see what the area had to offer so I looked up where to get a good Cuban and I saw Caribbean Sandwich's and thought "why not" and boy did it pay off! Fresh pork on the Cuban!!! They say they roast every morning at 5AM. It is so tender you can't even tell you're biting into it and has awesome flavor. It made the sandwich everything that it was.

Perfect small business to support in the Town n Country area. Always impressed with the quality of the food and the service. It gets pack in the morning and lunches hours, but definitely worth the wait! Hope you guys keep it up!
