Ok we loved this place!! We had a party of 8 and at no point did service suffer. The food here is so amazing. Seriously I can not say enough about how delicious the food is here. The tapas: chicken croquets, empanadas, calamari, and potatoes are all great. The stuffed shrimp and churrasco also amazing! I look forward to returning!

I rarely give out 5 stars- seriously- I rarely do. You have to be pretty gosh darn special to earn the perfect 10 from me and although some come close- most miss the mark. Cafe Ole- where do I begin? First, I want to apologize for never giving you the time of day when I lived in WC for years. Shame on me- laughed then but I cry now. As you park in front of Ole, you're not real sure what you're getting yourself into. It looks bland from the outside- standard strip mall fare which has unfortunately become standard practice in Florida. It's boring- sure- but it's Florida so learn to live with it. Once you walk in, all preconceptions shall be left at the door. The restaurant is split- bar side and dining side (however you can eat at the bar side as well with several tables available). We elected to sit at a table a few feet away from the nice, wooden bar that stands as a showpiece for Cafe Ole. We were instantly greeted by the bar tender who asked us to take a seat. He made us comfortable right from the start- can't say most bar tenders have this quality. As we were seated, he brought menus to look over. The bar tender walked up to us, exchanged pleasantries, and then went over the bar specials (it was happy hour). Liz ordered their Sangria (awesome) and I ordered their Mojito. Yeah, quite possibly the best mojito (save the one I had at the Rue Hotel in Aruba). Yup, Ole was already off to a killer start. We ordered the Paella Valenciana (I hope I spelled that right) and the New York Strip with chimichurri. Liz, who often fascinates over a recurring dream of her swimming miles in end through waves of rice, saffron, and chorizo with the darting seafood in a well prepared paella, had such a glee on her face after her first bite of the paella that I knew instantly that Ole would be a main staple whenever we returned to WC. My steak was prepared perfectly with beautiful seasoning, cooked right on the dot at medium rare, excellent roasted potatoes and veggies. We also had a side order of plantains which were perfect- sweetened and salted right at that fine line of absoluteness. We drank, ate, conversed- it was a beautiful time at Ole. I think the best moment at Ole was when we were asked for dessert. We wanted to try the Tres Leches cake because of what we had heard. The waitress said that they were unfortunately out. Again, I must look so obvious when I'm disappointed (like a big cry baby) because it was at that precise moment that the waitress said "You know what, let me ask the owner-he's in the kitchen. His wife is who makes the cake. Maybe she has one coming- she normally delivers it around this time" Ask me if we had cake that night? Go on- I dare you. She came rushing over when she heard a customer wanted a slice- that's dedication to her craft, to her husband's restaurant, to the customers. I'll never forget that. As for the cake-it was delicate, mildly sweet, and just on point. Splendid. Sometimes I end my reviews with a rhetorical question of will I return or will I abstain. I think it's clear where I stand with Cafe Ole. All I ask is that more of the Wesley Chapel faithful to venture on over as well and give Ole a shot. You won't be disappointed- I guarantee you that much. Where so many chain restaurant varieties do fail at delivering the customer what they really want in a fine meal- Cafe Ole does the complete opposite and wants to make your night as special as can be. When it's a desire of theirs to make your night memorable- you have found a winner and as a diner- you can't ask for anything more.

Cafe Ole is the local stop just around the corner for those living off of Cross Creek Blvd. My partner and I have been going to Cafe Ole for a few years now and were introduced to Cafe Ole by our neighbors. The place is part bar/part restaurant with a little bit of outdoor seating on the sidewalk in front. You want things a little more casual, eat on the bar side. Tablecloths, napkins, and live music more your style, go for the dining room. They recently expanded as well so there is plenty of room for large parties, if you plan ahead. While I love this place, the service can be hit or miss. Know that they will be packed on a Friday or Saturday night with a wait and like most other places, the service suffers when they are packed. Go during a downtime and enjoy yourself. Also know that they have live music on the weekends. We generally try to get there before the music as it can be difficult to have a conversation. The sangria is fantastic here and inexpensive most nights during happy hour or by the pitcher. We have not had one bad dish here but there are certainly a few which stand out for me. For tapas, I can strongly recommend the Gambas al Ajillo (shrimp in a buttery garlic sauce) and the Patatas Alioli (Fried diced potatoes with a garlic aioli). If you can't tell, I love garlic and both of these dishes are great and the portions are much larger than expected. Their empanadas are also tasty as well - my favorite is the chicken. For dinner, the Churrasco A La Parrila is the go to recommendation. Great skirt steak with a chimichurri to die for. I was there last night and encouraged our guest to order it and he said it was the most flavorful steak he had eaten in a long time. The paella is also good and large enough to share with another person. Lastly, I can't leave without a slice of their homemade Tres Leches Cake - perfectly balances as it is not too sweet. The cake generally comes home for later as the rest of the food is wonderful. Hidden gem which is well worth the drive or the visit.

The chef here puts a lot of love in the food! Our favorite thing to do is order the seta con chorizo and dip our bread on the sauce after we finish the dish. The music is fun. We love everything we have ever eaten here!

This is the best Spanish restaurant that I have been at in Florida ( excluding Cuban). The paella is excellent, loaded with sea food and a very generous portion of rice. Many of the tapas were excellent. The chicken breast in sherry is very good too. Please add shrimp in green sauce, then you get 6 stars! The service was great.

My boyfriend and I were babysitting my niece the other night, and it was right around dinner time. Well, we were starving, because we normally have an early dinner. Since we were in the New Tampa area, most restaurants required a bit of a drive. We were going to drive to Panera, but I was getting "hangry" so we needed a closer place. One of the closest restaurants was Cafe Ole, hence our decision. I had asked my brother-in-law and fellow Yelper, Joel H., if he would recommend the cafe. He had been there before, but being vegan, did not have much luck. However, he said it was a good place for meat-eaters like my boyfriend and I. So, we packed up my niece and headed over to Cafe Ole. I was a bit hesitant as we were walking up to the restaurant, because we only saw older people sitting at the bar area. Upon entering, we were lead to the dining room area, since we had no interest in having a baby in the bar area. We were the only ones in the dining room. We were not quite prepared for the super expensive dinner entrees, so we had to avoid those. We ended up ordering the sweet plantains, meatball tapas, french fries for my niece, and I got a chicken caesar salad. We were brought bread, which was okay, but the crust was really hard. My niece only wanted the bread, so we had to dig out the middle of the bread pieces. My boyfriend really enjoyed the plantains and the meatballs, and we both ate the fries that my niece did not want (not a problem for us). My salad was fine, a typical caesar salad. The server was friendly, but the service was very slow, and we were there for about an hour. Now that I know what to expect, I might consider going back for some Tapas.

Tapas galore! I really like this place because while they have their standing menu, they have a tapas and dinner specials menu that changes daily. This keeps you from getting bored with the same dishes over and over again. The quality of the food is superb and the price point is excellent- especially considering the dishes you can get here! We have tried a variety of things, and love the seafood and rice medley, but I must confess there were two dishes I tried and ended up loving. One was sliced salmon on baguettes with cream cheese and caviar- OMG incredible. The other dish was escargot. I didn't tell my husband what I ordered and we shared thee dish- he ate it and loved it and then afterwards I told him what we ate. He would never have tried it otherwise. The restaurant itself is growing and expanding- they added another set of bathrooms (which was greatly needed) and added a second bar too. The weekends you will find this place packed but is worth the wait. I do hope they add chairs to the second bar to create additional seating at the bar. The place is on the small side, but I promise you will not be disappointed.

I came here very excited because it had been highly recommended. 30 minutes went by and we finally went and found a bar tender to get a drink. We are 90 minutes in and still no food. Thank goodness Leanne knew the bread boy or we would have been starving. Not how I wanted to spend a relaxing Friday night after a long week. Not recommended.

Ok the food is just ok. Wait staff seems unfamiliar with the menu. The waitress we had was very sweet. Paella wasn't bad. Fresh mozzarella and tomatoes served with unripe tomatoes and little flavor. Salmon carpaccio was just slices of salmon on a tossed salad. $60 for two folks. 2 tapas and one entree and one dessert. Wasn't terrible but wasn't horrible.

Food was alright here. Just felt that the money we spent was not up to par for the food. We got quite a bit, paella with chicken sausage, and seafood. Which is a lot smaller than standard paellas. Our favorite was the tapa with the chicken, steak, and sausage. That comes as a meal too but I think as a meal that would be way too much meat, but as a tapa that was so heaven. My next favorite was the ceviche. The best part were the crunchy corn things that is what made it so great. Our mushroom and sausage thing was okay, and the potatoes were alright. The service was good, and we were happy to sit outside with our dog on a nice night. Even with my restaurant.com , it ended up super pricey for all that we had. I think if I were to go again, I would try the tapas night on Monday or Tuesday. For now, it was alright.

One of my favorite local restaurants. The chef comes up with some amazing specials. I couldn't even tell you whats on the regular menu, because my family always orders everything on the specials list. Live music on the weekends. Cool little bar if you just want to have cocktails and watch some TV. Great local hangout with casual and formal dining experience. A must try!

I have nothing bad to say about our experience at Cafe Ole. We were seated quickly and the service was wonderful, despite them being pretty slammed on a Friday evening. The waitress even gave us a free dessert (tres leches, YUM!) to thank us for our patience and because it was our first time there. Sweet! And the food! Delicious! My husband and I ordered two tapas and split an entree. For our tapas we ordered a stewed chorizo (can't remember the name, but it was awesome!) and the chicken croquettes, which were good but could have used a little salt. We got the churrasco for our entree, which was so tender and perfectly cooked. I just wish they would have given us a little more of that delicious chimichurri to go along with it! Even the sides, roasted veggies and whipped potatoes, were delicious. You can tell they put a lot of thought and effort into what they put on the plate. Over all an absolutely wonderful experience and we'll certainly be back!

Cafe Ole is just an amazing place located in northern New Tampa along Cross Creek Blvd off of Bruce B. Downs. If you know where the New Tampa Regional Library is located then you'll find Cafe Ole in a small strip mall across the street. This very excellent Spanish & Mediterranean restaurant serves tapas along with chicken, pork, steaks, and seafood main courses; three different types of paella, and some incredible desserts The restaurant has three different seating areas, so no matter how large your group you can easily find a place to sit. They also have a great bar with beer, wine, mixed drinks, delicious sangria, and some nightly drink specials. I met my friends Carlos H. (our new official Tampa Bay Yelp intern) and Sheira H. for an unofficial Yelp gathering to sample tapas and sangria. We had hoped for more people to join us, but the three of us had a great time chatting about Yelp, food reviews, and #foodiechats while we enjoyed a massive amount of food. Carlos is a regular, and great friends with Sergio, the managing partner of Cafe Ole. Sergio and his team kept bring us different small plates of food to sample, and made sure that we had the opportunity to snap photos before reaching in to clear the table between servings. : - ) For our dinner we enjoyed the following types of tapas: * Setas con Chorizo which was a small platter of the famous spicy Spanish sausage and mushrooms sauteed in olive oil and garlic, and served with a dark sherry wine sauce. * Croquetas de Pollo which was 3 chicken croquettes made with Spanish cracker crumbs and then deep fried and served over a tomato pesto sauce. * Gambas al Ajillo which was a small skillet of peeled jumbo shrimp sauteed in garlic and served with crushed red pepper and olive oil. * Chef's Special #1 which was an Italian-style fried cheese sandwich served with a spicy mayo sauce. * Chef's Special #2 which we affectionately renamed "El Friggin Yummo Polenta". This was polenta cakes covered in brown gravy & mushrooms with a bleu cheese cream sauce drizzled on top. * Patatas Bravas - Deep-fried diced potatoes in a spicy Alioli sauce. * Tabla Ole platter which included aged Serrano ham, Choizo Cantinpalo sausage, and Manchego cheese served with marinated Spanish olives. The majority of these plates of tapas are $5.55 on Mondays and Tuesdays. We enjoyed a very delicious glass of house-made red sangria, and then capped off the evening by sharing the Tres Leches dessert which was a rich meringue cake soaked in three different types of milk and served over a chocolate sauce plate decoration. Truly an incredible amount of very delicious food and drink, served up with some delightful company. Yeah, it's a bit of a drive to get there, but so very worth it. Thank you Carlos and Sergio!

What a pleasant surprise! I was really rooting for this place and I was happy that it didn't disappoint. When we first walked in and saw a bar we thought it was a soccer bar. But the rooms pass the bar area were very nicely made and lent themselves to a very pleasant dining experience. My fiancé ordered the Paella de Pollo, and I will admit that his meal was the best though the others were wonderful as well. The service was adequate; not over-the-top but definitely not disappointing. We enjoyed our meal very much and plan on going back. I'm excited to try other menu options. I would definitely recommend this place!

We went to Cafe Ole on Sunday night. I was eager to try this place because we just happened upon an advertisement a couple months ago. We had been searching for a Spanish restaurant for the last 10 years we lived here and never knew about this place. I really was excited. I grew up in Northern NJ, near Newark which is like the Mecca of Spanish, Portuguese and Mediterranean restaurants. I really wanted to like this place and the reviews were great! I having been back and forth with posting this review. I hate to give a negative review but it was just so disappointing; the cons were overwhelming. There were three other parties there while we were there. The bar was completely empty. Let me start out by saying our waiter, Will was great! We had no issues with this friendly and sweet kid. We were looking through the menu and there wasn't much on it. We ordered Calamari for an appetizer. I had to ask for a appetizer plate because mine was greasy with finger prints. While the calamari was good, the sauce was bad. It was old. It smelled and had a foul taste. Not sure when the sauce was actually made. We are in a Spanish restaurant wondering where the bread is. They ran out and had to make more. So, no bread yet. One person in my party ordered a chicken & mushroom dish which she said was okay. Another person ordered the seafood soup which he said was just okay. I couldn't really find anything I was in the mood for so I ordered the hot octopus tapa for my dinner. The potatoes were a weird texture, like crumby or pilly. The octopus was gritty, chewy and slimy. I usually love Octopus. I only ate a quarter of it. As we were finishing up dinner, the bread finally arrives, FINALLY! The bread was the best part of the night. It was crusty and warm just as Spanish bread is supposed to be. So I get up to go to the host stand to grab a menu to maybe order something for my husband who opted to stay home with the kids and a "specials" paper falls out. Hey, I didn't get one in my menu! I walked back to our table and my Aunt had a menu that the waiter just gave her that had a "specials" in there too! The three of us were not given a menu with specials in it before ordering. All three of us found things on it that we would have ordered. Mahi Mahi was on there, a chicken in a lobster cream sauce, short ribs...OMG, so many things we would have ordered. I was beyond livid. My dad orders an espresso and a brandy and my aunt ordered flan. The waiter comes back and says, there is no espresso. What? How does a Spanish Restaurant (an empty one at that) run out of espresso? We canceled the the rest and paid. Upon leaving, the host/bartender asked how it was. We said we didn't receive any specials in our menu. He said, "if you don't see specials, you have to ask for them, next time, ask." Are you kidding me right now? We would never come back. Hmf, ask for specials? Get outta here. I cannot even believe these reviews. I am astounded and baffled by the positive reviews. I don't get it. There was no love in Sunday's food at all. Will looked like the only one working and the others looked as though they were just hanging out.

I got to have tapas for the first time in Spain this summer. So I was excited to give this place a try. And it looks sooo cool. But they close at midnight and I come rolin' in before 10:00 and the kitchen's already closed. Booooo. I'll try again earlier in the day. Hopefully I can bump their rating up a couple stars.

It pains me to say, but I will most likely not come here again. The main reason being there are too many other quality restaurants within driving distance. The good, our server was very friendly. The bad...our server had no knowledge of the drink and food menu, I would attribute it to a lack of training on mgmt.'s part. He offered us the house cab, classic mistake on our part, it was poor at best. The food was alright; my date and I played it safe with a Caprese salad as there was a very limited menu n the night of our visit. The wait for our drinks and appetizers was excessive. We had a decent time, but for 4 house glasses of wine and 2 appetizers I would rather spend $60 somewhere else. They added gratuity which also left a bad taste in my mouth. I usually tip the standard 20% in cash, I just dislike it when the freedom to tip is take away especially when you are a 2 top.

Food was excellent and service was great.... Our concern was the noise level from the bar.... The cursing and yelling of some post-golfing regulars was too much to bear and we almost left. What is worse is the bartender told them of our concern and then she brushed it off loud enough for us to hear in the dining area and said whatever. Tapas were great and we will try it again and hopefully be able to rate better. A Little hard to find and parking was a bit rough. The margaritas were very sweet but not overly so.... the happy hour special for them was well worth the little drive up here. The tapas we ordered were truly delicious too, shrimp wrapped in bacon, guacamole, chicken skewers. and some garlic potatoes that were wonderful!

First and foremost, I have to say that I enjoy the food at Cafe Ole. My husband and I have eaten there several times. By far, my favorite dish on the menu is the Cazuela de Mariscos. I had had this dish years ago when Cafe Pepe was open on Kennedy and adored it. It was such a treat to see it offered on another menu. My husband is quite a fan of the arroz con pollo. They regularly offer tapas that are on the menu, and they can be a hit or miss. (Escargot laden with mozzarella cheese isn't a real hit, my opinion.) The only dessert I have tried thus far is the crema Catalana, which is superb. My only complaint with the restaurant is the noise level on Saturday nights. We've dined on other evenings, and it is pleasantly quiet. On Saturdays, though, it is rowdy, at best. There are either people at the bar half sauced watching a sports game (last weekend) or a large party in the other dining room with some rather obnoxious guests, also a bit on the drunken side. Even the waitstaff seemed flustered by that crowd. This is the only reason I didn't give the restaurant a higher rating. If I'm paying $20 for an entree, I'd like to be able to dine in peace.

The food was decent. I had the grilled chicken sandwich with the bacon and pesto sauce. Good service. I checked in and asked if they are accepting the free draft/wine with check in and the new manager did not know about it but he still gave us the wine. I would try another dish to see if it is worth becoming a regular.

Café Ole's unassuming location does not do justice to the caliber of food leaving its kitchen. If Spanish cuisine is your bag, and tapas are your coin purses... wait, let me rework that. If you like Spanish food and tapas (ah, there we go), this should reach the top of your list for stomach field trips. That said, enough chitchat... it's time to stretch the limits of your eyelids. Prepare yourself for tapas domination. You'd be crazy not to order at least one of their always rotating specials. Our waitress admits, even she can't keep up with the inspiration coming out of the kitchen, as she reads from a front-and-back list of mouthwatering creations. I have to start with the standout tapa of the evening for me: moist chicken, surrounded by a salty layer of prosciutto, filled with delicious herbs, and topped with little clusters of gorgeous black caviar, swimming in bacon vodka sauce. This bite of chicken was perfection; I was a little upset I had to share (sorry friends). As much a feast for our eyes as it was for our bellies, this ripe tomato stuffed with pork, shrimp, breadcrumbs, fresh herbs, and spices, was beautiful and delicious. We all fell hard for the fresh bruschetta, with its vinegary bite and fresh chopped onions and veggies. It's a fresh take on the grilled bread classic. It simultaneously excited and cleased our palates. Another spectacular take on a classic, the bacon-wrapped shrimp were succulent on the inside, crispy on the outside, and paired artfully with an entourage of chilled chopped fruits, and a light fruit sauce. Perfection... for more and mouthwatering photos, check out the write up on my blog site!

We decided to head to Cafe Ole due to the spectacular rating here on Yelp. Overall it was good, but I don't think it's the best restaurant I visited in Tampa. On our visit to Cafe Ole, we took advantage of Happy Hour. Beers were 2 for 1, and (chock full of ice and a little watered down) Red Sangria was a little under $4 a glass. The atmosphere was nice, and there were many friendly people at the bar who were largely locals. They also had appetizer specials around $5. I cannot imagine paying full price for the appetizers. I ordered croquetas de pollo, and was disappointed. Croquetas here in the States are nothing like croquetas in Spain. They were sort of like chicken crab cakes, if you can envision that. The bread was a little hard and stale, and I was disappointed by that too. The deal was made a little sweeter though by the check in offer, 1 free glass of house wine. Prices are high, portions are small. If that's your thing, this is your type of place to go!

Let me preface this by saying I understand service is not always perfect. But the service we received here was horrible. Worst of all the server could care less. After sugar for my daughter's iced tea was repeatedly forgotten, and after multiple requests followed by "so sorry, I will be right back with it"- I finally walked to the bar to ask for sugar myself. After an hour and a half, our food still had not arrived. Server finally appears and says she will check. Owner has been walking around our table this entire time serving surrounding tables- all who have food. Seriously, you don't notice the table of 5 in the middle with an empty table? After well over an hour? Food finally comes in a slow succession. Mediocre. Nothing special. Owner finally notices we are just getting food and makes a "we are really busy, we will buy you dessert". Really? After two hours spent, most of it without food- I just want to leave. So, no- I did not enjoy it and I will never return. Bad customer service on this level is inexcusable.

How can you go wrong with $5.55 tapas like this? I went on a Tuesday which is their $5.55 tapas day and it did not disappoint. I went with friends so I was able to sample several dishes. My fav was the setas con chorizo. Some of the best chorizo I've ever tasted with mushrooms in a dark sauce. I could have eaten just this and been happy. We also sampled the croquetas de pollo or chicken croquettes. I like these because they weren't your usual big round ball of a croquette with too much filling. These were more like flat disks and best of all they had an amazing tomato/pesto sauce. Another favorite of mine were the almejas castillas which were clams in a white wine sauce. They were delicious and you'll need to ask for extra bread because you'll want to sop up all that tasty sauce when you're done. As for entrees we tried the zarzuela de mariscos. This is a variety of seafood served in a delicious, savory broth. The menu says it's a lobster broth.... whatever it was it was amazing. There are clams, mussels, large shrimp, fish and scallops in the dish and you can tell they do not skimp on the quality when it comes to the seafood. The benefit of going places with friends? Plenty of room to share some desserts. We had the crema catalana which is like the spanish version of creme brulee. It was mild, yet delicious. We also tried the tres leches. This is a staple dessert for latin cooking and it was yummy too. The manager tells us they will soon be expanding which will be great and I look forward to going back to sample more tasty bites. It was a great first experience and I'm kind of sad I don't live closer. I will definitely make the 30 minute drive again to visit Cafe Ole!

Took my family to Cafe Ole for my brother's retirement party from the Marines. They provided great service. The wait staff and kitchen staff communicate as well as any place I've seen. The wait staff had full knowledge of everything about the menu and special items. The food was fantastic! Perfectly spiced, very creative, and just flat out delicious. I will make this a regular destination whenever I go to Tampa!

I really liked my food experience here at Cafe Ole. In a way I was surprised to see that the owner tries to stay on top and to deliver great quality with us about the restaurant's food. Great Surprise to find Crema Catalana, Paella, and Zarzuela. Those mussels are to die for. The sangria is also pretty good. I will definitely come back for more! The tapas are the best! Great price also!

A-mazing!! What a hidden gem. If you live in this area and haven't come here, you really must. Came here while on vacation and was blown away! Service, decor and atmosphere are great but pale in comparison to the food. Best meal I have had in a long time. Served by the manager to boot who was very personable and concerned about our experience. Great job Dennis.

First to come out was a special of the night- their take on Caprese. Not your typical tomato, mozzarella and basil stack, this plate of refreshments also came with delectably salty prosciutto and sweet roasted red peppers. Drizzled with tangy balsamic, it captured all of the taste buds on my tongue. Stellar Caprese exists here people; funny how adding just two ingredients can take an already tasty combo to a whole new luscious level. Up next was another special of the night: Crab Stuffed Artichoke bottoms. Glorious. Crab and artichokes= two of my favorite foods in the world. Would these little beauties taste as amazing as they looked? Showing off on the plate, in all their splendor, I gave up on capturing the best angle with my camera. My mouth was watering as threw down my camera and snatched one. Fresh lump crab made its presence known with my first bite. Sitting in scampi sauce, the lemon butter richness only further enticed and delighted my palate. For a full review: leslie-floyd.com/2013/02…

We came here about a year ago and thought it was good. Just returned for a dinner over the weekend and were really impressed! There is another seating area so you can be in the bar side or the dining side of the restaurant. There was a cool guy playing music when we went this time. And the food was delicious. We started with some tapas. The Gambas al ajillo was sooooo good. We kept dipping our bread in the sauce when the shrimp were gone. The patatas bravas were so crispy but the sauce was super spicy hot. Next time I might try the aioli sauce with them. We also got the parilla appetizer. The chimichurri sauce was really fresh and flavorful. We finished up with the paella Valenciana. Wow. The flavors are just right and it was stuffed with shrimp, shellfish, octopus, and fish. Amazing. Great atmosphere and very friendly staff as well. We will be coming back a lot more frequently.

A few weeks ago, I ventured into New Tampa to try out Cafe Ole with some friends. I pulled into a strip mall which contained quite a few ethnic restaurants to find Cafe Ole tucked away inside. Upon walking in, I met up with Carlos, Jen and Blaire and knew instantly I was in for a treat as it was National Paella day. We were greeted by a pitcher of delicious red sangria. It had the perfect flavor. Not too sweet, not too fruity and a hint of cinnamon. I instantly thought that I couldn't wait to bring Gabe here since he is such a Sangria snob. We started off with an order of Bruschetta which is not on the menu. Fellow foodie and friend, Leslie, dined at Cafe Ole a few weeks back and has raved about this, so we had to try it for ourselves. It was truly the best Bruschetta I have ever had. Cafe Ole's menu has something for everyone. I love eating with a group at Tapas restaurants since you can taste a little bit of everything and that was our plan. The four of us each ordered an appetizer and being it was National Paella day, we decided to split two orders of paella among the four of us. My Tapas choice was the SETAS CON CHORIZO, Spanish sausage and mushrooms, sautéed in olive oil and garlic, in a sherry wine sauce. There comes a time when you are forced to put down your fork because you don't want to be full, but you lose all self control. As Blaire and I were sitting closest to this dish, we had a few issues turning away. It was out of this world chorizo goodness. Carlos ordered the CALAMARES FRITOS - Tender calamari dusted in seasoned flour and lightly fried. Served with tomato pesto sauce. Perfectly seasoned and fried rings of calamari. Jen ordered the PATATAS ALIOLI with a side of BRAVAS sauce- Deep fried diced potatoes finished in a light Alioli sauce. The side of spicy tomato sauce was very spicy. Blaire ordered the TORTILLA DE PATATAS - A classic Spanish potato omelet.Served with homemade alioli sauce. Four Tapas for four people is the perfect amount of food. What we were not expecting was the Chef sending us multiple daily special Tapas. Before we knew it, we were stuffed and the Paella hadn't made it's way out. Of the Chef choice lineup, my favorite dish of the meal was presented. Let me start with the sauce - a Bakon Vodka cream sauce. OMG. Best sauce ever.....laying on top was tender and moist stuffed chicken surrounded with a layer of prosciutto and topped with black caviar. I want to recreate this at home and I luckily have the Bakon vodka to experiment with! We received an order of Bacon wrapped shrimp with a light fruit sauce. I normally steer clear of anything bacon wrapped since it is never executed correctly. Not the case here. The bacon was crispy while the shrimp was cooked to perfection. Just when we think the Paella is on it's way, we receive another specialty tapas, a ripe beefsteak tomato stuffed with pork, shrimp, breadcrumbs, fresh herbs and spices. OK, it is time for the Paella! We ordered two of the three kinds, the PAELLA VALENCIANA, which is a classic paella, featuring shrimp, calamari, clams, mussels, fish, chicken and chorizo baked with Valencia rice in a home made saffron sauce. It was perfection in a paella pan. We also tried the PAELLA NEGRA Sautéed with pulpo, shrimp, calamari, fish, and scallops then baked with Valencia rice and squid ink. Although I love squid ink, it was a little much for my taste in this dish. When my stomach cannot handle anymore food, dessert comes out. Thank goodness I wore my stretchy jeans. The highlight of the end of our delicious meal was a traditional TRES LECHES, a rich meringue cake soaked in 3 different types of milk. Tres Leches is not something I would order as I feel this is never executed. Cafe Ole has perfected the Tres Leches and I urge you to order this to end your perfect meal. We also tried the CREMA CATALANA, a Cafe Ole original recipe of vanilla citrus pudding topped with raw sugar and then burned to make a hard candy shell. It reminds you of a fruity Creme Brulee. And finally, the FLAN DE LA CASA, Homemade Spanish caramel custard. The flan is normally what I would have ordered on my own. While it was delicious, it was overshadowed by the amazing Tres Leches.

The first time that my husband and I went to Café Ole there was a twenty minute wait. We were both not in the mood to wait so decided to come back on a day when we have reservations. That day was two weeks ago, on a Tuesday night. A reservation was hardly necessary since when we walked in it was a big empty room with nobody there to greet us. We saw people in the smaller room next door so that's where we headed and were greeted. We chose to stay in the bar area since the room where we came from was too big and too empty. The server was very attentive and immediately offered drinks. I ordered Churrasco Ala Parria, and my husband ordered Paella De Pollo Con Chorizo. Mine was okay once I got additional Chimichurri Sauce. even though a dish should be a make or break based on a sauce. My husband said that his dish was bland. Very disappointing. When we got home I sat down in my family room and found a German Cockroach crawling down my pants leg. I haven't seen one since I left NYC seven years ago. It can only have come from one place. I've been to really good Spanish restaurants Café Ole you didn't make the grade.

This place is so great. Flavorful, exciting food and live music! Love getting the free draft with the yelp check in. The chorizo is one of the most exquisite things I have ever put in my mouth.

Spanish food is one of my favorite cuisines and Cafe Ole is as authentic as they come. I had lunch there recently and it was well worth the drive from South Tampa. The restaurant is beautiful and cozy with scents of tantalizing food filling every nook and cranny. We started off with fresh, hot bread and a cold pitcher of red sangria. My first dish wound up being my favorite of the day. Beautifully plated, Setas con Chorizo is a nice blend of Spanish sausage and mushrooms that are sautéed in olive and garlic and then served in a sherry wine sauce. The sherry wine sauce simply fantastic and I loved taking my bread and dipping into the sauce and then topping it with chorizo and mushrooms. The next dish I tried was Tortilla de Patatas, which is a classic Spanish potato omelet. Similar to a quiche, it is drizzled with their homemade alioli sauce. I really enjoyed this and loved the combination of flavors. As I was enjoying this dish, I could not help but think how fantastic this would be for brunch. Since I could not finish it all, I took the rest home and enjoyed it the next day with a cup of French roast. I could live on potatoes. I love them in every form and the next dish was right up my ally. Patatas Alioi o Bravas are deep fried diced potatoes finished in a light spicy tomato sauce or alioli sauce. I tried the version with alioli and it was fantastic. As I nibbled on these I was thinking back to my high school days when my Spanish teacher would talk about some of the dishes he ate while growing up in Spain. I distinctly remember him talking about this dish and was delighted to be enjoying it. I was now ready for the main event....a duo of paella. The first was visually stunning and I could not take my eyes off the gorgeous dish of beautiful seafood and rice. It was Paella Negra which consisted of sautéed pulpo, shrimp, calamari, fish, and scallops baked with Valencia rice and squid ink. Served in a traditional paella pan, it was beyond delicious! I enjoyed this exquisite version of paella and savored every last bite. The second version was Paella Valenciana which really reminded me of the first time I tried paella when I was in high school. This classic dish was a delicious blend of shrimp, calamari, clams, mussels, fish, chicken and chorizo baked with Valencia rice in their home made saffron sauce and served in a traditional paella pan. I thoroughly enjoyed this and have to say it was some of the best paella I had had while living in Tampa. My meal came to a sweet end with a dessert I am still thinking about to this day. Move over crème brûlée and say hello to Crema Catalana! Their chef's own recipe, this luscious dessert is a sweet mixture of vanilla citrus pudding topped with raw sugar and then burned to make a hard candy shell. I have to say I like this better than crème brûlée and had no problem finishing every sweet bite. The vanilla citrus pudding was sweet and creamy and there were traces of fresh orange inside. The top was much softer than a traditional crème brûlée and I never thought I would say this, but I prefer the way the Crema Catalana is prepared. If you are looking for authentic Spanish cuisine in New Tampa...look no further than Cafe Ole.

Service wasn't great. We sat at the table for around 15 minutes until we flagged a waiter down. After that, he seemed to be too busy talking to someone at another table. Shame as it's the closest tapas place.

This was my first time eating in the restaurant I've always ordered to go. The food is always amazing! Today I took a party of seven that had never been there for lunch. The service was horrible, the waiter knew nothing of the menu and our drinks were never refilled. Half of the parties food was served at different times and once everyone was almost done with their food the rest of the group canceled the order. When we got the check they still charged the ones that never got food for the drinks and we never got a single apology from the waiter or any member of management for the obvious lack of service. The ones that did receive their meal thought the food was amazing . If you eat here get it to go, the food is awesome but service terrible!

The experience was just okay. Would I go back? Only for one item (see following). Would my wife go back? No. My wife and I walked in and we sat at a table in the bar area. Everyone seemed nice enough and they were on top of their service, or so it seemed. As we were sitting there we were greeted by no less than three different waiters. I didn't know who the heck our actual waiter was? My wife and I couldn't go more than 4-5 minutes without someone coming over to see if everything was okay or if we needed anything. Let me qualify this by saying that sometimes this is called for, sometimes not so much. See the bar area is where all of the wait staff hang out and shoot the s***, not in a discrete manner either. So we have 5-6 waiters and waitresses standing right next to us talking about whatever, and three different ones coming over to check on us all the freakin time. It was flat out annoying. The Menu and Food I studied in Spain for a while, so I was expecting some authentic Spanish food. Most of what was on the menu was a blend between Spanish food and typical Cuban and Puerto Rican food. There were a couple of tapas items that are pretty standard, but we wanted to try something different. I asked one of the waiters if they had traditional Jamon, you know the aged kind that they usually present on the leg and have hanging in nearly every restaurant in Spain. His response was....."huh?" I explained what it was and he said that he didn't think so and asked if I meant the Serrano type of meat? He said that he knew that this came in a package when they got it in. Anyways, no big deal, we still ordered the meat and cheese tapa, which was good. It was definitely high quality meat and cheese, so no complaints there (except for the waiter being clueless). We also ordered the fried asparagus, which the waitress (yes a different one than the guy before) said was "awesome." Umm, asparagus wrapped in cheese and meat and fried, just okay. We also ordered the pappas rellenas, which the waitress said were homemade and appeared to be as much. Again, just okay. My wife ordered the lemon pudding for dessert and I ordered the flan (gotta try the flan right?). My wife enjoyed her's and I have to give them credit on the flan, this was the best flan that I have ever had. I will go back just to order flan to go! Overall, the service was annoying and the tapas were just okay. The desserts were awesome, but would I rate this restaurant 4+ stars.....no way!

The food was decent. I had the grilled chicken sandwich with the bacon and pesto sauce. Good service. I checked in and asked if they are accepting the free draft/wine with check in and the new manager did not know about it but he still gave us the wine. I would try another dish to see if it is worth becoming a regular.
