Is my grandma in there??!!! I am pretty picky when it comes to my Haitian cuisine. I myself am a great cook because I learned from my grandma...she Can cook her butt off! So I didn't have too great of expectations. Also because I'm not from the area, I went there on a whim. Holy pikliz! My husband and I both ordered our own plates. I have goat in sauce, he had fried pork. Both plates came with white rice and sweet pea sauce. As an appetizer we had the fritay platter. To finish it off, I had fresh lemonade and my husband got passion fruit juice. I'm giving this place 5 stars because I was so pleased with everything I ate and drank. In addition it was a great atmosphere. The service was very efficient and people were so kind. I would be a regular at this place if I lived here!

Warm friendly staff. This place so welcoming. A group of friends and myself initially entered to purchase T-Vice tickets for the All White Party that was occuring that night. After a quick smell we decided to have a few quick snacks before we departed. They have the greatest stuffed Haitian patties I've ever tasted outside of south Florida. The patties were light, flacky, buttery, and loaded with meat and flavor. They also carried Kremas ( kinda like a pina colada/egg nog - but thicker). You coud purchae it by the cup or bottle. They are not cheap with the serving sizes - huge. But they don't short change you on the flavor. Food was so good we actually started dancing in the dining room. We were so ready for the great night we had. Later that night they transformed the restaurant to a great dance hall. Band played beautifully, bar was nice, fresh food was available for purchase, and security was even kind enough to walk us across the street (yeah all those lanes) to our car. Can't wait to go back ...mwen beswen pate...

Previously, I asserted that the best fried chicken in Tampa is at Love's Artifact Cafe. I wish to change that. Alez makes the best fried chicken. I stopped in for lunch, and for less than $9, I got four perfectly crispy, spicy chicken drumsticks, a huge portion of rice and beans, a couple fried plantains, and seriously tasty pikliz. OMG. Add the pikliz to the rice and beans for a little heaven. I really want to return to try the oxtail, goat and fried pork, but I don't know if I'll be able to resist the fried chicken! The staff is very attentive and friendly. The location isn't the best, but once you're inside, it's clean and nice.

Authentic and fantastic. They were out of many items on the menu, but what we had was amazing! My girlfriend and I were the only diners to eat in but in the hour or so we were there over a dozen people came in for take out (it was a Monday). I had the stewed chicken and she had the fried both were fantastic! The stewed chicken was a bit fatty but that's how it should be. The rice and bean sauce was really good as well. We bother loved their spivey cabbage on the coconut shrimp. The only thing we didn't really like were the plantains , they were pretty dry (Of course we are spoiled because the last time we had plantains was in a small village in Belize).

I was so excited to learn that, finally, a Haitian restaurant popped up in Tampa. I first tried Haitian cuisine in West Palm Beach, from a close friend who is Haitian. Her sisters and her would cook up some of the best food I have ever had in my entire life. Haitian food is hands down my favorite food of all. Alez is an awesome place. The staff are so friendly and helpful. I once went in and as I was waiting for my food, I bought a bottle of their Haitian rum, to bring home to share with my family. The young lady who was cashiering didn't speak much English, but she made sure someone who did, let me know that it was Haitian rum because she was nervous that I thought it was milk or such, and didn't want me to accidentally get drunk on the drive home hahaha, how sweet! The griot is amazing!!! I get it every time!! It's always served super hot and fresh, and it is absolutely melt in your mouth savory and delicious! You can tell that they take pride and care in their food, and I guarantee if you go once, you will go again!!!

My food was great. It always is. I've been to Alez at least four or five times, and the food is always really good. The rice and beans and the pikliz are perfect, but the service is terrible. I called in my order at 3:01 and was told it would be fifteen minutes. I got to the restaurant about seven minutes later. At 3:41, I still didn't have my order. One of the waitresses asked me if I'd been helped, then she asked me my name. She came over later and asked me if my name was Paulette, which it isn't and which isn't what I told her. I finally went to the counter, which is about six steps from where I was sitting and someone else asked me my name. I told her my name and that I had been waiting for forty minutes. Another woman, she looked to be a manager, said forty minutes? I said yes. She walked back through the door to the kitchen. A few minutes later, I finally got my order and the waitress tells me she thought I had gotten my order already. Right... Like I said earlier, this isn't the first time I've gotten less-than-stellar service, but I guess the food makes up for that. Maybe.

Another hidden gem in Tampa - Haitian cuisine! Try favorites like griot (fried pork) and tasso (fried goat, though not sure if they still sell them), white rice with black bean sauce, and don't forget pikliz! And of course their fried plantains. Just try everything! The decor is simple and sweet, reminds me of Haitian relatives. The only problem is location. It's a hassle to get to on the busy streets of Fletcher, but totally worth the trip. God, I love Haitian cuisine. Now to emulate recipes at home...

Great food! This is the best Haitian restaurant in Tampa. They need some help with their customer service but the great food makes up for that. Whenever you go try the legume!

Finally! A reputable sit down/ take out Haitian restaurant near USF! I love their rice especially.... I don't know what they put in the du riz djon djon to give it that extra "je ne sais quoi" because they got the flavor on the money. Their poisson gro sel (stewed red snapper) is delicious and a must try. I like their fried chicken too and their griot (fried pork) is decent but not the best I've had. They sell out of some of their options at the end of the day and also be prepared to wait (they cook it fresh) call ahead your order if you want it in a timely matter.

This is such a beautiful establishment. Very friendly and social staff and patrons and amazing Haitian food that is not that common up this way. If you like spicy and powerful food just dig right in and give everything a shot.
