Great food. Great service. Great location. Great decor. I had the grouper tacos. They were awesome! Very well seasoned. I had them Blackened. Perfect heat of spice. Perfect portions of meat, veggies and sauce. Tortillas were soft and delicious. They came with black beans and rice which weren't too bad. Be sure to get a bottle of hot sauce to spice them up. I'll definitely be back for more. The only drawback to this place is looking for parking. I circled around twice and got a great spot upfront.

I could kick myself for not reviewing 220 East as Review #220! But I think, #225 is close enough. 220 East is the BFF's and my go-to restaurant on Davis Island. We normally order to-go food from here but occasionally we will dine in. 220 East has been a Davis Island staple for ten years. The staff is consistently friendly and attentive here. The restaurant is always clean. Parking can be a pain sometimes, but you can normally find a space on the street. I like the food here. It is not spectacular to the point where I get a craving for something particular on their menu, but their food is consistently good. Some of my favorites to start with are the Baked Brie (who doesn't love cheese), Tuna Sashimi, and their delicious French Onion Soup. I normally enjoy the Beef Stir Fry as my entree because it isn't too heavy. For dessert I have had the Creme Brûlée, the Three Berry Shortcake, and the Chocolate Velvet Cake. All of three desserts were very good. The vibe in here is very laid back and casual. There are TVs so you can watch a game at the bar if you choose. Stop by 220 East if you would like a low key evening on beautiful Davis Island.

This is a cozy neighborhood restaurant on Davis Island. Everything we had from the menu was good. Service was friendly. No major complaints and nothing that I had stood out as amazing. It's a nice place with good food.

Great place. Awesome food! We've been here several times and love it. Trista is our favorite server. She remembers what we order and greets us with a smile every time. The food is always delicious and comes out quickly. We've been there several times for dinner, but only once for lunch, when they have the best blackened chicken tacos I've ever had!

They open at 5 pm for dinner. There time says 11 am to 10pm, but that isn't true. Went three times around 4 and they never served me.

'Twas the Tuesday before Christmas, And the Tampa streets were a zoo. We needed to find a place for lunch, But I hadn't a clue what to do. (And you wonder why they made me stop writing poetry for greeting cards....) OK, so here's the deal, a group of my friends were heading over to the Ronald McDonald House to make dinner for the kids and their families who were staying at the home over the holiday season. Since the Ronald McDonald House is located right behind Tampa General Hospital, I figured that I could kidnap my girlfriend from a double-shift at the hospital, and grab a nice lunch on Davis Island before it was time to start cooking. Well, that was the plan anyway... As luck would have it, it was a crazy time in the ER so Britt was only able to sneak away for a quick bite. After picking her up, we made a mad dash to the Davis Island business district and found an open parking space in front of 220 East. The restaurant is on the far end of a little bitty shopping strip, and it's a nice place to sit and have a delicious, yet casual meal. The décor is a fun collection of kitschy antiques. My favorite was the gigantic carousel rooster that was staring down at me while I ate, but they also had an old 8mm movie projector, a typewriter, and assorted technologies from days gone by. The interior of the restaurant is a bit dark, but that makes the place seem even more cozy. According to the information on their menu, 220 East proudly serves excellent food in a fun and casual setting which makes them a neighborhood favorite on Davis Island. Nul and David make all of their soups, sauces, and desserts from scratch in their kitchen. They buy only best quality seafood, meat, and produce to help maintain their high standards and consistency. And, they have priced their menu to give their guests an outstanding value. The lunchtime menu had some great options including baked Brie, pot stickers, tuna sashimi, fried calamari, and satay chicken for appetizers. Their French onion soup is AWESOME! They also have a lot of really tasty mixed greens and fruit salads, as well as a variety of soup & salad, and sandwich & salad options. If you prefer, they also have sandwiches and burgers on the lunch menu, as well as more substantial lunch-sized entrées including a small filet, or fresh catch of the day fish, chicken marsala, chicken piccata, or pork margarita. I opted for a cup of their very delicious French onion soup, and then had a Black Jack Burger, which was seasoned with Cajun spices, then topped with melted jack cheese and sautéed mushrooms, and served on a toasted baguette with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, and French fries on the side. The "adorable one" had 220's Field of Fruit salad, which was organic field greens tossed with balsamic vinaigrette, then topped with mandarin oranges, crumbled bleu cheese, strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, and walnuts. We're anxious to go back to 220 East and have a more relaxed meal after the Holidays. The dinner menu has a lot of seafood and pasta dishes, and they have a small wine cellar right near the front door. This looks like a great place to sit back and enjoy a nice dinner with a glass of wine.

This place gets 5 stars because (1) everyone from our group loved the food (2) it is the perfect combination of relaxed but not divey atmosphere and (3) the service was great. A group of us went here for dinner and there is a wide range of tastes in our group: vegan, pescatarian, and some carivores. We all ordered something different: salads, beef (blue moo) burger, chicken, portobello mushroom melt sandwich. I personally had the portobello sandwich and it very good. The bread was a crusty but fresh french bread, the mushroom was nicely sautéed and there was yummy gooey cheese to hold it all together. What a wonderful neighborhood restaurant, and surprisingly unpretentious considering its on Davis Island!

My favorite salad for lunch during work. Field of Fruit with blackened salmon. Delicious. Decor is dark and could use an update and service is sometimes iffy but i can overlook that for good food!

After our second visit a review was in order!! My husband ordered the smoked motz ravioli and I had the bacon encrusted scallops- both dishes were absolute amazing!! The ambiance is perfect for a date night-- plus there is a fabulous coffee shop next store which made for the perfect stop before we headed home!! I'd absolutely recommend this place!!

I had the blackened grouper tacos they were excellent! My friend had the Cuban sandwich she said it was the best Cuban she ever had! Will be back to try some other items, salads look huge!

I've been dining at 220 East for years. Anything on the menu is good, but the BLT is the best ever. Don't expect to have it on toast, it comes on a baguette which takes it from the ordinary to the extraordinary! The wait staff has been there for a long time and know what I want when they seat me. You'd have to try hard to go wrong here.

First, I go out to eat a lot and rarely write reviews, but this gem on Davis Island deserved a 5 stars review, hands down. Drinks: VERY reasonably priced (I feel even too low for the location). Tons of wine options, martinis (which i had and was good), etc.. Food: I got their smoked cheese ravioli with chicken, holy sh*t, thee best pasta dish I've ever had. Everything is house made.. I asked them to make cheese bread on the fly, and that made my meal even better. Staff: I wish I remembered her name, but she blew my mind running the bar and tables near the bar where we were at. Very quick, extremely friendly, etc. She deserved my 30% tip! Place/location: place has a more local feel, kinda small ish, but not cramped. they really should put some $ into upgrading the place, and charge more.. but place is clean and would recommend this place to anyone!!!!

Went for lunch today. I ordered the blackened grouper sandwich and fries. The grouper was blackened just right and seasoned well. The French fries were perfect. Our server was prompt, informative and helpful. She was very friendly as well. The food took to long to come out. This is the second time I've been in for lunch and this has happened. During lunch most people have a limited time schedule and the additional wait makes it hard to get back to the office on time.

I was pretty impressed with 220 East. We started with the baked brie which was pretty tasty, but had TONS of brown sugar on it. I usually try not to eat that much sugar because it makes me feel sick, so I just scraped it off. But other than that, pretty good. I got the mixed fruit salad with grilled chicken and blue cheese and it was the perfect mixture of sweet and bold flavors. The salad was a pretty big portion as well. My boyfriend got a crispy chicken salad which was basically more fried chicken than I have ever seen before sitting on a bed of lettuce. I think they added too much chicken to the point where it was overwhelming, but he did say it was good. I'm definitely going to come back to try out some other dishes since everything I saw other people eating at the restaurant looked pretty darn tasty.

I used to like 220 East and sad to say it's kind of gone downhill, especially in the service area. It's been on the island for over 10 years and unless some serious changes occur, I seriously doubt it will last another 10. My girlfriend and I wanted a quick lunch that was close to the office, so we decided on 220 as we both hadn't been there in a while. Upon entering, we noticed there was only two other parties in the restaurant and three twenty something girls running the place. We were seated immediately and started to chat. A few minutes later we realized it had been at least 2-3 min since we sat down and nobody had come by to greet us. By this time there was a man standing at the hostess stand and we heard the three girls giggling in the back. The man at the hostess stand was getting impatient, as were we, but we agreed to give it a minute. One of the girls came skipping out right past us and went to take care of the man waiting to be seated. Nowhere were the other two girls to be found. Being ignored for another minute, we got up and decided to leave. If you aren't busy, it shouldn't take longer than two minutes to greet your table and take drink orders. In the past, I have enjoyed the Hot Stickers and Thai Cobb salad as well as some of their sandwiches. No the food isn't mind blowing, but it was always an average solid lunch. Unfortunately, they will not be getting my business anymore.

Had their bacon crusted scallops delivered via Doorstep Delivery last week, and they were absolutely amazing! I tried to order them again a few days after, on Sunday and was absolutely heartbroken when I realized 220 isn't open on Sundays! Decided to try and save the few dollars since I live on the island and just pick up the food for myself this time. The scallops were TERRIBLE. It barely looked like what I had received from Doorstep, there was hardly any of the amazing gouda sauce. Not sure if I will be dining there again due to their hit and miss items.

We've been coming here for years. We've always had great service (shout out to Sally!) and we've always had great food. We have had the brie, which is oh so good. We often get the pot stickers which are yummy! We like the soup here, especially the soup du jour. And favorite dishes are the chicken thai cobb salad, the black tie affair OH how rich!, the bacon crusted scallops - WOW, the shrimp hawaiian, lovely. You can't go wrong with any of their burgers and when they have the grouper (or better yet hogfish) - order it Almandine (toasted almonds)! It is wonderful. It's a really great meal, they always accommodate, the portions are very large and moderate pricing. One of the best places to eat on the Island!

There so many favorites at 220 East. For lunch, the quiche is always a treat. The burgers are fantastic. A signature dish is their French Onion Soup and for good reason, it is awesome. Lot's of delicious onions, gooey cheese, yum. Also check out their soup of the day. If you happen to be there on a day when the offer the Baked Potato Soup, get it! Appetizer options are numerous; some of my favorites include the pot stickers, chicken satay and the brie. They have an entree salad I get nearly every time, Filed of Fruit. Mixed green, gorgonzola cheese, walnuts, fresh strawberries and blueberries. Add chicken or salmon for satisfying meal.

I don't remember what else I ordered but my sister and I started with the brie. It was so delicious that I'm afraid to go back for fear of being impregnated with a fatty brie baby.

Ohhh this place.... (Meh. I've experienced better- means I didn't get food poisoning) 220 East has been around for about 15 years. I remember when it opened. It used to be at the top of its class, so to speak. I used to know all the chefs and staff that worked there. Over the years the culinary scene in Tampa has evolved and obviously left this place is the DUST. When I lived in Tampa I used to eat here once at week at the most. It was easy, consistent and the food was actually good. With that being said, I stopped in for a quick bite around dinner time last month while in town for the holiday. The first thing to hit me was that nothing has changed. Nothing...and it looked like nothing has ever been dusted. I was amazed how cheesy it looked. The ambiance is garbage... total garbage. What are they trying to be? The menu makes no sense either. None. The food is WAY overpriced. Unreal how expensive the food is for what you get. That ratio is WAY off. My review would be much more lenient if the food was either: 1-Better (or) 2-Less expensive I feel bad writing a negative review for this place but they really need to wake up! To be completely honest they should just close shop and make way for something new and fresh in that location. I mean this spot is in prime real estate. I would hate to see it go but would welcome something new and PHRESH. Maybe they could change their name and refresh their ambiance as well as their menu. That would be their only hope. As Tampa moves forward in a positive culinary direction the people will follow. Mark my words: I won't be back. No love lost here.

My coworkers & I tried 220 East when we discovered that our original lunch choice was under renovations. BUT, I must say, we were all very glad we were forced to resort to here! We were in a rush to return to work, and our waitress was very helpful in getting us out of there in time. That in itself is the main reason I'm giving 5 stars. Due to our time restriction, we had to order just sandwiches, but they were quite satisfying. We returned with more time to try something else on the menu, and we were not disappointed at all. Quiet table of 6 must mean good food. 220 East just made it to our top choices for lunch hot spots.

After a long day at Busch Gardens, we decided to make a stop for some real food. This restaurant wasn't too far off the main roads and was located in a nice area. We were welcomed and seated immediately. The baked brie was an amazing dish. It was the perfect combination of brown sugar and walnuts. The bread and apples were excellent compliments. Three of us had the French onion soup and we truly enjoyed it. The burgers were good portions and cooked just right. We split 3 desserts: key lime pie, creme brulee, and 3 berry shortcake. They were all delicious! Just sorry we don't have a restaurant like this back home.

One of the best meals I've had in a while... 220's menu offers a little 'something for everyone', ranging from pizza to burgers to pasta. I had the ahi tuna and veggies, which was served over an amazing bed of noodles and sauce. The serving size was HUGE and was more than enough to eat for dinner, as well as lunch the next day. Even more impressive than the food was the impeccable service. Our server, Sally, was absolutely amazing and made the experience. I'll surely be back to revisit this hidden gem!

We come here for lunch a lot since it's so close to work. The service is always friendly & quick! The place is always clean, & there are always good specials! Everything I've always ordered has been tasty. My one complaint ( like most places on Davis Island), the parking can be an issue!

Being a tourist we had no idea of where to eat once we arrive and checked into the hotel. We located this place by GPS and enjoyed the food. However, it was a bit dead concerning the atmosphere, not much traffic inside but noticed the glass doors with the bottles of wine inside. To spare readers a long story, please note that the bottles of wine kept behind the "unlock" glass doors located in the entry of the restaurant is not for sale. (Lol). However, the choice of drinks were good (apple martini).

I know it sounds cliche but I have always had a great meal for lunch or dinner, never a bad experience. The menu is american fare ranging from ahi tuna to salad to pasta to steaks. Daily specials are repeat orders for me and my favorite on Monday is super special for chicken pot pie. Dinner choice usually vary but high marks for Black tie affair and Shrimp Hawaiian. Portion size allow leftovers for chicken fingers, salads, and quesadilla but that's if you are not sharing at the table. It's a welcoming place and the locals love it.

What a mess. I went there for the first time Saturday night, and there was absolutely no service. We sat for several minutes before our server came to order our drinks - even though no drink menu had been provided. So after requesting one, we had to wait a couple more minutes for her to return with the menu. And then we waited some more for her to finally return to take our order. This was probably 15 minutes into our visit. Another 10 minutes or so passed before she returned to take our food order. We had to stop her from running off after ordering our appetizer so we could place our entrees order as well, since so much time had passed that we were ready to order everything. After a long wait, the appetizer came. We still didn't have our drinks. Maybe 45 minutes after we got there our food came out (nothing complicated - just a burger, sandwich and two field greens salads). Many issues: 1. No one asked what option for the bun we wanted for the burger (they offer two - again, server didn't ask), so although it wasn't our favorite, we stuck with it. 2. No field greens salads. At all. 3. When we finally received the field greens salad, there was no dressing. IT COMES WITH DRESSING BASED ON THE MENU. This was the easiest salad to prepare - literally just field greens and some crumbled blue cheese with vinaigrette. How do they mess that up? On top of this, WE STILL DIDN'T HAVE DRINKS. Finally we canceled our drinks order, but they arrived about five minutes after that. And the old fashioned - which apparently the bartender didn't know how to make (one reason they gave us for the delay) - wasn't very good. Thankfully the server took them off our bill since we waited so long for them. By the time we received the dressing for the salad, we were finished with our sandwich and burger, so we requested that they remove those from the bill since we didn't want to eat those at that point. We spent the entire night having to go inside and ask where our food and drinks were. All we kept hearing in return was that the bar was very busy (you mean a restaurant might be busy at 8:00 on Saturday???). Our server was apologetic but basically MIA most of the night. The girl helping her out with our one water refill and serving food was very defensive and never once apologized for the extreme delay. Maybe this was an off night. Maybe they were short-staffed. And I get that serving is a hard job. And I appreciate that my sandwich was good. But Saturdays are busy nights at restaurants. Period. At least they could have made more of an effort to refill water regularly and keep us updated so we didn't have to chase after them when we felt like we were forgotten on the patio. I probably won't return unless it's for pick up. Even then, there are plenty of other restaurants nearby to choose from.

They have the best Grey Goose dirty martini here, I highly recommend it. I've been a lot of places, most higher end than this, that serve a subpar dirty martini. This place must have exceptional bartender(s) because it's the best in Tampa. I also recommend the Black Tie Pasta dish. It's delicious. If you're in the mood for spicy, this will do the trick. Lastly, if you like baked brie, try it here. You won't be disappointed.

I always love going to this place and have always had a great meal here. The baked brie as an appetizer is where it's at. It's topped with brown sugar and walnuts and comes with some amazing french bread. For dinner I've had the steak alforno, burgers, and a couple other items. This is a great place on Davis Islands and would encourage others to do the same.

Got this delivered from a delivery service, so I was a little skeptical. The delivery service was great, but the food sucked!!!!! Ahi tuna was mealy and did not taste fresh, fried calamari was salty as hell, rubbery, and whatever batter they fried it in needs to be tossed out with the chef!

I had the seafood linguni. It was great especially for the price. It was jammed packed with fresh seafood. My brother had the smoked mozzarella. He loved it. It comes in a cream sauce that is flavorful without being too heavy. Its got a nice neighborhood feel but isn't cheesy. Definitely worth a try and the island is always a nice change of pace.

GREAT salads. Could be a little cleaner, but overall a great find on "The Island."

I have been to this restaurant several times over the course of 4 years. My boyfriend and I continue to go back because of their amazing food and service. It's is a really nice romantic restaurant to celebrate any occasion. They even will cook any fish you catch that day for you. Wonderful place and people!

The baked brie topped with brown sugar and walnuts is awesome! It's served with warm french bread and sliced apples. I usually come here for lunch. Salads are great and so is their french onion soup.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
