Great spot for a quick/casual bite. We walked over after a long first day at the beach and the shrimp salad roll was delicious. Friends had spicy peel and eat shrimp, Cuban sandwich, shrimp cocktail and all were liked. It really is a "shack" but they have some seating on a screened porch or you can eat in one of the beachside pavilions which was lovely.

This was exactly what I wanted for a last meal before heading home. This incorporates everything you want for a low key beach meal. They have fresh raw oysters, steamed shrimp, etc. I got 6 raw oysters and .25 shrimp w a cold beer. All delicious! You can either sit outside over looking the beach or they have a screened porch with cooler air and fans!!

It's a tradition to have Shrimp Shack the minute we arrive in Seaside! I look forward to it every single time!!! 1/2 lb of gulf shrimp and a glass of Chardonnay, nothing better!! So easy and simple but DELICIOUS. We took it to go last night and ate on our rooftop!

I tried out the lobster roll, my first one ever and I enjoyed it. Especially on a rainy florida day with the view of the beach and the sound of the rain drops hitting the glass made for a great lunch experience. The women at the counter were sweet and answered my questions about the lobster roll, what it came in and how it was prepared. Not thrilled about the price it cost but hey when in rome right? I don't eat this stuff often so the $21 I paid for it seemed worth it. This is a great little touristy spot to get you into the beach mood. Seemed relaxed and inviting even for my little guy who was busy splashing the puddles outside their door in the rain and were ok with him trudging all the water along with him. Will be back again whenever I make it back to Seaside.

The reds taste like lobster. We loved it. Cold beer. Great oysters and shrimp. I got a dozen Shrimp Shack Style oysters and loved them. Beautiful location right on the beach. Inside seating and out.

As a Walton County native I know quite a bit about Apalachicola oysters, and the oysters at The Shrimp Shack does not disappoint. The oysters and shrimp here are wonderful! Try the baked Oyster Rockafeller for a nice twist. Of course, the raw oysters are always wonderful too. The owner suggested to me to try the jumbo shrimp cajun style, and they were absolutely wonderful. Good selection of bottled beer, its nice to see some regional beer in the cooler, such as Atlanta's 420. There's a beautiful outdoor seating area over looking the ocean if you care to dine beach side.

Horrible! Stay away! Stay away! 1/2lb of steamed Royal Red Shrimp (5 of them), Crab claw appetizer, wedge salad, and 2 drinks cost me $48!!!! What the heck?? Also they were out of oysters ... FOR A WEEK! The food was okay at best. The lady who took my order completely rude. The view on the deck was great - only reason for the 2 stars. OVERALL EXPERIENCE: Terrible. My girlfriend and I were actually in a BAD mood after we left (and still a bit hungry)! Even with the gorgeous beach right there... :( My suggestion... go across the street to one of the food trucks and get some food from them and go eat on the beach.. save yourself the horrible service and $30.

Used to be "our stop" for oysters. These were not good at all, especially after having great ones later at Stinky's. The shucker left shell shrapnel in every oyster and they were tasteless. The kids got peel and eat shrimp that had freezer burn on the shells so clearly these were not fresh. The gumbo had about nine grains of rice, four pieces of meat and okra and the rest was broth. Tasty broth but no substance to the gumbo As has been repeated, the only reason to go here now is the view.

The Shrimp Shack does seafood on the beach just right. Order and pay at the cramped deli-like counter, and your meal will be delivered to the beachfront pavilion. We enjoyed deliciously fresh oysters on the half-shell and $1 apiece. The shrimp roll (we bypassed the $21 lobster roll), was a scoop of delicious mayonaise based shrimp salad on a soft white bun -- went down in about four yummy bites. For my $$, I'd eat here any time over the overpriced Bud & Alley's!

Absolutely pathetic excuse for good food, much less, "world famous"! There are too many places in the area that actually know how to prepare shrimp, lobster, grouper...gulf seafood to bother with this place. It has everything going for it but the food, and that's sad. They will continue to do well as the rotation of "sucker tourist" come through, but I suspect that true locals, or regulars to the area wouldn't step foot near that place, because the food is just not up to the hype. I know we won't be back, and will share our experience with our friends. That said, they apparently can make a darn good PBJ, as my two kids ate every bite of theirs.

Just pittyful!! The stereotype tourist trap. So freakin' expensive and so freakin' bad!! Don't ever eat the lobster roll!! Oh, and BTW... No refills in sodas!!!

    (1)
  • Jomico R.

Ok beach food, barely worth the price. Pitiful raw oysters and definately not worth the price. The Cuban sandwich is a pitiful rendition of a sandwich you may get in Ibor City district of Tampa, FL. What you would expect from a tourist heavy trap.

Shrimp, oysters, lobster..oh my! So fresh, so tastey. I can't wait to get back to Seaside next month for a 1/2 lb of steamed peel and eat shrimp, 1/2 dozen oysters, and the Shack Salad (wedge of lettuce with tomatoes and blue cheese dressing) and a huge iced tea. Several steamed options which is such a refreshing change to the typical fried shrimp baskets served at almost all local seafood eateries.

Spare yourself run from there, we had the lobster roll $21, it consisted of 4-5 small nickle size pieces of the hardest toughest lobster I ever had, on a regular dry hot dog roll, not even fresh, with no dressing, nothing but a little drawn butter on the side, which was prob margarine, if that, my husband had the shrimp roll, it also was terrible with the smallest shrimp drowned in mayo. All in all $37 for lunch for two that absoultely was the worst ever, and we had to wait long enough for me to go to the taco stand to get some meat for our dog, they use real steak for a $4 taco, it was so good after we finished our lousy lunch we went there for some quac and chips, best beef taco for our dog, and best quac around. Stay away from that nasty Shrimp Shack, also the cook and older asian woman was don right nasty to me when I went in for some salt, she nastly said to me the salt is on the table, well, if it were I wouldn't have trecked up there again to get it. Can you imagine, $37 for two terrible sandwiches and a nasty, nasty, person behind the counter. Don't get conned by the sign and expect for the price you'll get something good. Go to the taco place, and spare yourself. PS: In NYC and in the Hamptons you get a real lobster roll from $7-$15, that is outstanding, tender and suculent, even upstate NY,at the grocery store in Rhinebeck you'll get an excellent lobster roll so good that you'll eat in the car before you get back to your home or hotel for around $5. This place was the worst, and if you want oysters trek into Panama City and go to Hunts, they have thier own oyster beds, for the best oysters in the Panhandle.

There's no better way to end a hot day at the beach with an even hotter...make that steamy...basket of big, fat Gulf shrimp and a nice cold beer. The Shrimp Shack makes simple what should never be complex: good local seafood. The short menu of fresh seafood is steamed to order and brought to you with a side of corn-on-the-cob and fingerling potatoes. I also hear there's delicious coleslaw to accompany for a small price. They're also known for their fresh lemonade, which accompanies a long list of other cold beverages to be sipped with your seafood. I would also argue that the SS has one of the best spots for the classic Seaside sunset viewing with Bud and Alley's, of course, taking the cake. After ordering your food, you have the choice of sitting in the screened porch, beach side deck or on the seaside pavilion, which offers front-row tickets to the diamond-encrusted shores of the Gulf. That in itself makes the wait for a table worth it. If you go, you may feel in familiar company. The owners used to run the original Rolly Polly in the same spot. Opening the Shrimp Shack gave them a chance to change things up.

We shared a lobster roll here on Nov. 9. We can't speak to the rest of the menu but stay away from the lobster roll. With tax it cost about $24, and seriously it's not worth $10. It was maybe 2 oz. of poorly prepared lobster meat on a so-so roll. Even the melted butter was subpar. Overall we noticed the prices were high, but we don't mind paying a little more if the quality is there. We had high hopes, but what a disappointment. If you've ever had a fantastic lobster roll anytime in your life you'll be extremely unsatisfied if you fork over the money for this one. Service was also poor (long wait, rude staff). The only thing it has going for it is location. Honestly, I enjoyed the hotdog I had from the food cart across the street much more.

I spend many a day in Seaside so the view from the Seaside pavilion didnt win me over. I cant believe the cost of the steamed shrimp and a couple fingerling potatoes. It was good but way too pricey. I'd eat there more often if it werent so expensive.

This place serves quite fresh food in a charming environment in touristy Seaside, with a beautiful, commanding view as it is on the oceanfront and has a small detached deck with beachfront seating. Prices are VERY high for what it is, a casual order at the counter type of place. I paid $9 for a fairly small Cuban sandwich with nothing on the side (e.g. no chips, no slaw, no nothin') .. However, the ingredients did seem to be high quality.. I assume the high prices are a reflection of the high price of the real estate occupied by the restaurant. I noticed oysters here cost twice as much as they do at HUNTS in Panama City, a place which almost everyone I know considers to have the best oysters in the area (but which lacks the beautiful view of this spot) . The staff is VERY friendly and seem like very cool people, and I thought the service was good They serve the "nostalgia" sodas , I recommend the key lime soda! They also have several bottled beers, some cocktails, and wine. The atmosphere here is so wonderful (i.e. the ocean view, friendly staff) that I will definitely return, but will have to wait a couple paychecks for that cuz it is rather pricey.

Sooooo good! It was a less than perfect day weather wise so we drove around the area, arriving in Seaside and The Shrimp Shack. What a great find. The Royal Reds were sweet like lobster and just enough to share with the two of us. Enjoyed hearing the history of the area with the staff. Definitely make it a destination!

First off, 'Lovin' You' by Minnie Riperton played three times in a row during our lunch here. And that's not even the reason I gave this place three stars. The food is highly overpriced. I'm sorry, but if all you're going to do is rub minimal amounts of seasoning on my shrimp, steam them, and then throw in some tiny potatoes and half of an already minuscule corn-on-the-cob, it shouldn't cost $12. My mother had the $22 lobster roll, which was so small that she finished it in about 120 seconds flat. Yes, the view is fantastic, and that's what you're paying for. Honestly, it being Florida and all, I probably could have found some fresh shrimp on my own, bought some Old Bay, and made the same dish in my rent-a-condo. Not to belittle the workers (they were far friendlier than most on the Seaside boardwalk), but it's just not worth the money. Cut that $12 down to $8, and you've got yourself a deal. Seaside is Disney Land, let's face it, and the restaurants there charge theme park prices. Pros: Decent tasting food, Beautiful view Cons: Way overpriced for the amount of food given, Soundtrack that was probably played in Guantanamo to torture detainees

Loved it so much, I ate there two days in a row. The only reason I didn't continue eating there daily is - we returned home from vacation. This place is great! The very first time I had Royal Reds was right at the Shrimp Shack. Sit on the outside dining area right on the beach. The best spot to eat by far. Expensive? Yes. But you only live once, right? You won't regret stopping by this little place. Even for some oysters and a beer. I am wearing one of their T shirts right now, as a matter of fact. I'd give a lot for a 1/2 pound of Royal Reds and some melted butter to dip them in right now!

good lunch.. kinda pricey though.. for a $20 lobster roll i at least would have liked a small bag of chips with it, i know lobster is expensive, but small bags of chips arent.. but it was a bun full of very nicely steamed lobster. I also would have preffered clarified butter rather than just melted butter. The steamed royal reds were very good as were the oysters, and you cant go wrong with the view with a pavillion right on the beach. The food is way better than Bud and Alleys... this may be my new sunset viewing spot when I am back on 30-A
