Took the in laws for lunch and a had great time. Lots to choose from on the menu and a decent beer selection. This place is new and clean, the people were nice....can't go wrong.

Great steamed oysters & fried lobster, grouper & oysters ! Great atmosphere in the bar! Will definitely be back!!

Food well below average. Lobster bites a waste of time and money. Crabcake tasteless and came out cold. Peel to eat shrimp good. Roasted clams good but tiny. Surf and turf fair. Also came out not hot. Had to ask for the appitizer plates with its mess to be removed. Staff inexperienced and confused. Side of steamed vegetables came out almost after dinner is finished. Will not be returning. Very unfortunate because someone spent big money to make the enviornment very appealing.

Good fresh seafood. Reasonably priced. Very good service. Definitely planning to go back again.

We yelped this place & decided to give it to try it for dinner. We got the broiled scallops, fried shrimp and key lime pie. All the food was pretty good. It was really loud though, it seems like there is nothing to absorb the noise. We would go back for the food though.

Just got back from dinner at the Fish House, and it was great. I had grilled shrimp with sauteed veggies; the wife had grilled salmon w/grilled veggies; Daughter #1 had 6 raw oysters and conch chowder; Daughter #2 had fried shrimp w/coleslaw. All entrees were well-sized. My shrimp were full-flavored and fresh. The veggies were.still crisp, not sogged out at all. Wife's salmon was tasty, and D# 2 ate.all of her shrimp really quickly. D #2 also ordered the Chocolate Mudslide dessert. About 7 inches tall, 2 slabs of chocolate ice cream, with oreo crust and a chocolate fudge and whipped cream and nuts...Wow...

Crowded, which could have explained the extreme slowness from start to finish. The food was good enough, but priced too highly for the amount of it that we got, compared to many other restaurants we have been to. We would not go back, ourselves, but to be fair, I saw many families there and it seemed to be doing good business. Staff very pleasant!

Vacationing on the island so decided to try Sanibel Fish House. Happy Hour specials on appetizers were great. $3 for a half dozen oysters on half shell. Outstanding. I had broiled platter wit shrimp, scallops and salmon with mixed veggies. Wife has Grouper Reuben which doesn't sound great but you must try it. It was delicious. I recommend The fish house. We will go back if we have time

This place is the definition of mediocrity. The quality is so-so and the quantity is weak for the price. We asked for some bread since the mixed grilled combo was so weak and the waitress got us Garlic bread for $7. Seriously.....only place in Samibel during our one week trip that we were really disappointed....

  • Dao C.

Blackened Tuna sandwich was GREAT. I asked for extra crispy fries and they were perfect. Water tasted a little funky. Wife got mahi sandwich an it was just ok - she got it grilled and was a little plain. Overall really good place.

Huge place with a big variety. Went for lunch. Shared the crab dip with was really tasty. I had the ahi tuna melt with sweet potatoe fries. Soooo good. Hubby had the lobster roll which he enjoyed. Both agreed worth it for sweet potatoe fries alone. Check in on yelp and get a free slice of key lime pie. We couldn't do it - too stuffed. Good service too. B

The atmosphere was unique, but they were playing'50s soda shop pop, weird. The broiled seafood platter was mediocre to bad. Sweet potato fries were undercooked. My husband had the blackened tuna and it was a tough little hockey puck. Very disappointed.

First the good: the hostess was awesome. I wanted to buy a shirt before being seated and she happily took the time to dig all under the cabinets to get me the color, size and style I wanted. Now the bad and ugly: brightly lit, with brightly colored decor--like a seafood chuckie-cheese without games or animatronics. The server was way, too over the top. Not necessarily a criticism if we had had children with us to be entertained. The food. Ugh. I had the grouper parmesan which as far as I could tell, could have been any type of white fish that had been swimming too long in a parmesan like sauce. The fillet was thin enough to have been tilapia. A friend ordered lobster mac and cheese--which was really just the mac and the cheese. Nothing tasted fresh, moreover, it had the presentation of cafeteria food--over priced cafeteria food. If you visit the Sanibel Fish House, buy a nice looking souvenir shirt and eat somewhere else.

I really liked the food. The stuffed grouper was tasty and the seafood stuffing was flavorful without being over the top. My companions both had the lobster Mac n cheese and both enjoyed as well. The service was bad though. We placed our order quickly, which included the oysters coquille appetizer. (Which I was particularly excited about). About 20 mins after we ordered our entrees arrived and when I asked about the oysters our waiter said he had forgot and would put the order right in. I told him not to bother at this point since our entrees had already arrived. Seriously, just write down the orders and things like this won't happen. So, to the owners I would say that you lost out on money and your waiter lost out on a good tip. We all make mistakes I understand but that was a silly lose/lose for all of us.

We were a bit afraid to try the Fish House due to the reviews but we decided to give it a shot. Service and ambience were very good but the food was very average. I got the crab cake appetizer and for $10, it was not worth it. It just didn't have the flavor I am accustomed to. I was a bit pessimistic about the rest of the meal. I got the broiled seafood platter with grouper. The grouper, shrimp, and scallops were all bland. The sides were not bad but just ok. I had the baked sweet potato and slaw. My wife had the red potatoes and slaw. There are better places to eat on the island but they are few.

    (3)
  • Kristin H.

Avoid the scallops! I got a seafood salad topped with scallops and they were perfectly white, verging on uncooked, no sear anywhere... totally tasteless. Yuck. The shrimp/crab dip was OK, and so was the stuffed grouper. But nothing special. I'd go somewhere else!

  • Charles M.

The wait staff needs help and direction. The hostess leaves her station to seat people, leaving the entire waiting area unattended. Very poor taste. The crab legs were good, probably the best part of the meal. All our entrees had small portions and left a lot to be desired. Our group of 4 ordered grouper, snow crab and crab cakes. The crab cakes were WAY over-seasoned, barely edible. The grouper was good, but about half the portion size expected for the price. Two of our cocktails were so strong we added ice water to them to make them consumable. Sad, because this was one of our favorite spots. Been coming here for more than 25 years, not likely to go back.

  • Kent R.

Amazingly good! We would not normally choose this place based on building exterior and interior arcade feel. But there is not a lot to choose from on Sanibel and the wait times can easily exceed an hour. The waiter was great and the drinks and food were good.

We had a good experience here. I had eaten at the Bonita Fish House the week prior but I wasn't feeling well so didn't care for my meal that much. I decided to give the Fish House chain another shot and I am glad I did. The Coconut Shrimp Basket was delish, including the fries and cole slaw. The coconut-curry dipping sauce was so good. My dining companions all enjoyed their dishes (stuffed grouper, fish tacos, salad with grilled salmon, kid's PB&J - which was HUGE and on wheat bread, nice touch). Key lime pie was also tasty, perhaps made better by the fact that we had free coupons for it :) The building is bordering on tacky-tropical and rather low lighting, but it was a fun and welcoming atmosphere. No outdoor seating which is a little odd for the area I think. But inside it was pretty busy and lively compared to other places we went that week (it being low season some of them were deserted).

Off season our 1st pick was closed so we picked this place without checking yelp 1st. Looked at menu and decided to give it a try. Smoked fish dip app was pretty good, but packaged crackers just aren't good enough. She had the fried oyster basket with sweet tater fry's, very good including the slaw. My clam strip basket with fry's & slaw was excellent, service was very good and a cool looking interior.

When we come from Wisconsin to southern Florida, we like to eat seafood. With that in mind we thought we would try the Fish House. I ordered the stuffed grouper and my wife had the special, 12 shrimp, half broiled and half coconut. We had the sautéed vegetables and a house salad. Everything was well prepared and tasty. The service was average, but I am a tough grader and average still gets a 20% tip. I thought the prices were in line with the value we received compared to other establishments on Sanibel.

Ate dinner, and the service was great and the server was friendly. Coconut shrimp was really good. New dish on the menu, seafood paella, was even better, actually fantastic. Casual atmosphere, perfect for going to after the beach.

Grouper was great, but baked sweet potato was really over cooked which was a bummer. Sara was real sweet and was a great bartender/server!

This place was awesome. First visit we were seated in the bar area. The waitress was not very attentive but the people who delivered the food were very nice and helpful. The food was great - we had a crab cake appetizer, the blackened chicken Alfredo, and a shrimp dish. We took the key lime pie to go which wasn't a disappointment. We revisited this place a second time during our vacation and had a much better atmosphere and experience sitting in the dining area. Would love if this place even more if it was on the water !!

Fell into this place because we didn't want to wait the 40 minutes for a table at the Island Cow. The interior is cheap looking. The lighting is dim once the sun goes down. Our waitress Cheryl was wonderful as was the other server Dylan (the hardest worker in the place). The fried oyster appetizer was excellent. I had the Caesar salad with grilled grouper. The fish was very good though the portion was on the small side. The lettuce was drenched in too much dressing. My sis had the grouper sandwich which she enjoyed. Dad had the conch chowder which I tasted. It was a bit bland. The lobster mac and cheese was rich and had chunks of lobster in it. Very good. All in all a decent place to eat but not exceptional.

Great service , call ahead to see if they are busy . Will be packed after 6 pm. Off the Main Street easy to find and great food. Good selection of kids food menu ! A little costly if your drinking cocktails! Great atmosphere !

We got take out (twin babies on vacation so dining out is a rarity). I did check it out: Casual, colorful interior, separate bar with many TVs. My wife and I both got grouper tacos (fried not grilled) and it was very good. The sides were a bit boring: potato, steamed vegetables (please stop steaming...roast vegetables!!!)

    Outstanding. Outstanding. Outstanding.

  • Christopher M.

Amazing restaurant. I wish we would have went there our first day instead of wasting our time with the other mediocre places around. The Blur Giraffe was about the only thing that comes close. But the food, prices and all day happy hour can't be beat. We had the crab legs, Oysters and smoked fish dip, all very good.

  • Brooke R.

We arrived for dinner around 7pm and the wait time to be seated was about 10 minutes. Our waiter was very quick to take our order and it didn't take long before we got our meal. The waiter was very attentive until we got our meal. He only came back to the table once to check if we needed anything. Other than that, the food was delicious and everyone in our party cleaned their plate. Definitely a good price for the amount of food you get.

    (4)
  • Liz C.

The service was great but the food was not. It was over priced for what it was (you are going to pay more on an island, I know). My shrimp were not fresh, they were frozen and soggy. The margaritas tasted like soap. On a lighter note, they have $2 Coronas.

    (2)
  • Ahisha L.

Food here is fantastic and so is the service! The crunchy grouper is Amazing and the sweet potatoe fries are the best you will ever have. The steamed shrimp are fresh and oh so good. If you more into salads try the Key West salad with Shrimp and Scallops...very fresh as well and totally delicious. We also tried the calamari appetizer...Wow! You will not be disappointed. The service is fantastic!!!! We will be back!

Went here twice for dinner recently. Great atmosphere, very good food, I thought the prices were very reasonable. Had the boiled Maine Lobster one night, Grouper parmesan the next. Loved it. Staff was very accommodating with my extra bread and sauces..no charge. Would definitely come back here.

  • Tammy R.

My husband had the chowder for dinner he said it was good. I had the starter mix green salad which was very good. It's a very large salad so there's enough to share. Overall it was a decent restaurant

UPDATE: after dinner at another island seafood place fell through we decided to go back and give the Fish House another try. We are so glad we did! We arrived early enough for Happy Hour and enjoyed some shrimp and wings as appetizers. For our main entrees, we couldn't pass up the Crunchy Grouper - it was great the second time around too! The best part of our 2nd trip was the great service we had - night & day difference! (I'm only giving it 4 stars because of the awful service the 1st night.)

    (4)
  • Dominique T.

The food is what you would expect of a tourist type restaurant. Their happy hour menu cannot be beat! Peel and eat shrimp and margaritas were a personal favorite. Camille is a wonderful server and you can see the manager being attentive and an active member of the establishments operations. Definitely would eat there again!

    (4)
  • Jessica A.

The crab stuffed salmon is the best thing in the menu, if available. The service is good and their is plenty of parking. You will get a free key lime pie if you check in on Yelp. The place is very nice decorated, beach style!

    (4)
  • Susan C.

In the on season, things are a bit different. First Happy Hour prices are double that of the off season but still good....the oysters were teeny tiny, maybe that's just how they are in winter...I don't know. And, we were not allowed to take the shrimp for take-out. Overall, service was good and served with a smile. Clam chowder still wonderful

  • Andrew J.

I would stay clear of this place if you want something to eat. Price was high for the quality of food. I ordered 3 fish tacos and it cost $24 dollars. They weren't very good, or basically put they weren't $24 fish tacos, even if you are on Sanibel island. I think I was the only one in here between 12pm - 1pm on a Friday. On the bright side, they do have a large selections of beer and beverages to drink.

    (2)
  • Susan Q.

I ordered the Mahi Mahi dinner, and the fish was BAD. The waiter took it away with apologies and asked if I wanted anything else. I then ordered the coconut shrimp, and they were burnt, although I didnt say anything about them. No compensation was offered for the bad fish. I think they should have at least offered a free meal. My husband ordered a Beefeater martini extra dry and got a vermouth martini. When they replaced it, he got a watered down version. We definitely would not recommend this place to anyone!

Found these guys on Yelp and also found a certificate for a free rum runner so why not, let's try them out as we were in town on holiday with 4 adults, a 10 YO and a 1.5 YO. D=Sat in the 'Dining Room' which is recommended if you want a more 'Florida' experience with large open windows etc. Server was VERY friendly and attentive (think her name was Trina?). Showed her electronic certificates for the rum runners and she finally accepted, saying they should of been printed. Hmm, welcome to the new world, you can now get on a plane with your phone so why not get a free drink promotion? Also, be advised, this drink has no alcohol and took 10 minutes to get and server wanted dinner order before they arrived. I ordered wine after, which I would of done anyways as I love a nice NZ Sav. Blanc which they had with my fresh seafood. Just a promo that is not well done so don't waste your time. Steel Drum live entertainment was a mixed bag as the guy was super nice but you could not hear him 1/2 way back in the room. Could not enjoy it unless you stood next to him. I even mentioned it to him and he said it's because of the rooms acoustics and some people not liking live music who may be sat near him. I told him who cares, if they do not like live music, they can sit in another area of this large sq. foot restaurant with many other areas. Why be ruled by a few gapers? My daughter (1.5 YO) loved the music because she was dancing right in front of the musician. Great menu selection and food overall was what was expected. Ordered raw oysters, snow crab, a few of their 'buckets' with fried fish and sides (comes on a plate, not a bucket), and two kids items of their kids menus. All was prepared and came as sold, all hot, and fresh, no issues here at all and price was reasonable for the island. All in all, an acceptable experience and what you would expect for this pricing. Just not above and beyond except for the server Trina who made the difference with her frequent check-backs and constant checking to insure we had everything we needed which was great as we kept ordering glasses of wine, something we would not of done without her service. While they may have thought we were cheap gapers by trying to redeem their free rum runner coupon, I really just did it to test the quality of the promo (being the restaurant industry for the past 25 years) and found that this promo is a failure. I would recommend dining here though, a good overall experience thanks to service and quality of food to price point.

  • C R.

We were very disappointed with the food and the service. Our server forgot to bring kids menus and drink menu and kept saying "they didn't give you that?" Like it was someone else's fault. It took forever to finally place our order. I had grilled mahi which was very dry. My hubs had a grouper sandwich that he only made palatable by putting his cole slaw on top. The calamari and coconut shrimp tasted like pre packaged frozen food I could get at costco.

    (2)
  • martin r.

The magi mahi was definitely spooled. They coated it with pepper to hide the fact. Spent the night throwing up from just eating a little.

With eleven of us in our group, we were pleasantly surprised at the speed of service (off-season) and the quality of the seafood dishes. All dinners were excellent! My niece had to fight off her brother from eating her bowl of clam chowder. Given that the atmosphere is more like a sports bar - lots of TVs - and art on the ceilings, I wasn't sure about or group's choice for the evening. Wow, was I wrong. Give this place a try.

    (4)
  • James O.

Good budget minded families. Not for those expecting a good quality meal. This is strictly low budget family style food. Pleasant wait staff. Clean premises. Just not my type of food. So I'm not the best to judge this place since it does not portend to be gourmet food. But the quality of the food could be a lot better.

    (2)
  • Tom H.

Fish basket was great. Better breading than usually find and fish was tasty. Prices moderate.

    (4)
  • Scott B.

Can't say I was overwhelmed by dinner at this place. Two of our party ordered one of the evening's specials, only to be told ten minutes later that it wasn't available. My own meal (shrimp and grits) was ... well nothing special. Lots of grits and a couple of shrimp. Would add that it was a bit on the pricey side.

We visited Sanibel Fish House for the first time last night and were very pleased. For starters, it was one of the few places that didn't have a 45 minute wait for a table! The menu, while not sophisticated, is very substantial and has all the seafood items you could want. The restaurant was clean and cute, the staff was courteous and responsive, food portions and quality were above average, and prices were typical for Sanibel. Our family tried and enjoyed the crunchy grouper, coconut shrimp, crab topped grouper and clam strips. Great spot for a family meal.

    (4)
  • Robert P.

PLEASE don't waste your time. With dozens of places on the island from which to choose, this needs to be near the bottom. Slow service, below average, bland food, boring atmosphere...combined make it a waste. Bartenders and wait staff are uncaring. I can name 10 better places on Sanibel. Lobster nuggets are not good.

    (1)
  • Monica B.

Great food, reasonable prices. Grouper was the best we've ever had! Ale battered, HUGE piece of fish. Fried lobster nuggets are amazing. Conch fritters were a little over fried, but were pretty good. Only problem we had was when trying to use a coupon. The waitress fought us over whether it applied to one person or up to 6, as was plainly stated. This also happened at another nearby table. Other than that, an overall good experience.

    (4)
  • Susan P.

Good food at a reasonable price. Great service and no wait for a table at 6:30. The room with the vaulted ceiling is super noisy, even with a small crowd. Ask for a different room to eat in.

  • AJ D.

Where to begin, we come to Sanibel every year and when we saw Sanibel Fish house pop up we had to try it. We started with the Calamari. It was average at best, the calamari was chewy and the marinara sauce tasted a little like vomit. (not to be gross) I ordered the Fish Sampler or something. It was again, average at best. It was composed of clam strips, oysters, shrimp, and cod. Couldn't finish it. Not to mention my biggest pet peeve is when only half the table is served at a time. My fiancé and my food came out about 5 min before my inlaws food. My fiancé ordered the lobster tacos, my mother in law the snow crab, and my father in law the grilled grouper. Everyone but I liked my food. My FIL's food wasnt a big enough portion. We took a table consensus, everyone would come back but me. It was really loud and dim. The key lime pie was warm, thank goodness it was free. Take my review for what it's worth but take caution with the any fried food.

We got here at the tail end of happy hour and got some great rum runners and wine along with the peel and eat shrimp-1/2 pound of delicious boiled shrimp in old bay seasoning for the great $5 happy hour price! Not to mention the succulent scallops, fresh grouper tacos, and steamed oysters! To top it off we got a free piece key lime pie just for checking in on yelp (and added a giant mud pie to our order too). We are pleased customers.

Out of 7 meals and three appetizers this is bar none the worst most flavorless food I have eaten. The grilled fish well .... The grill must be a George Foreman.

Wow, if you're looking for great seafood on the islands, this is the place! It has tons of parking and great specials. I wasn't there for happy hour, but will definitely have to stop back to take full advantage of them! I tried the crunchy grouper Reuben and I have to say that it is one of the very best I've ever had! The piece of fish was substantial, the rye bread was thick, and the dressing and cheese were just perfect. I can't believe I haven't tried it before, as many places boast having great grouper sandwich or grouper Reuben! I'd absolutely recommend the Fish House!

Excellent baked oysters coquille. Also, paella is made with brown rice. Very tasty with saffron evident. The Paradise salad is good, get dressing on the side. We were very surprised and pleased. It was Monday after Christmas. Not crowded. We will go back.

Had a large group, service was exceptional, everyone found something they wanted and enjoyed! The scallops and clams did seem a bit sandy/gritty however. The seared tuna melt was fantastic. Keylime pie was pretty delicious too. They have a much larger variety of beer on tap than in their menu, very delicious options. Overall a great dining experience! Mike, our waiter was quick and friendly!

Went there for lunch. Had tuna and it was good, just not great. I also ordered oysters and the server, Carlos, gave me extras because they seemed small to him. It was the perfect amount. Went on a Monday and the place was pretty dead; however it seemed as if they just remodeled the area where we were sitting in. I probably would try another place if I go back to Sanibel Island. Our server was nice but not very attentive. He did not check up on us once we got our meals until we were completely done. He seemed too busy chatting about sports with his co-worker. It was a shame because he seemed nice. Since I used to serve I do pay attention to little details like that.

I like going for there happy hour b4 6..the foods and drinks are fine, but both bar tenders were wierd..I live right behind shop, but those bar tenders and there attitudes keep me from going there..there is bettet conversation with the homeless drunk behind 711.

  • Rod H.

We came in sat at the bar for peel and eat shrimp and a few beers. The shrimp was good and the beer was cold. The atmosphere was cool with lots of tv's in the bar. The biggest issue is the server/bar tender seemed a little uninviting.

I like going for there happy hour b4 6..the foods and drinks are fine, but both bar tenders were wierd..I live right behind shop, but those bar tenders and there attitudes keep me from going there..there is bettet conversation with the homeless drunk behind 711.

We came in sat at the bar for peel and eat shrimp and a few beers. The shrimp was good and the beer was cold. The atmosphere was cool with lots of tv's in the bar. The biggest issue is the server/bar tender seemed a little uninviting.

Crab leg dinner special was perfect and the sweet potato fries were amazing. Cold yuengling on tap too! Lunch special were good too along with kids menu

This place was good but nothing super special! I had the shrimp dinner and the blackened shrimp were seasoned very well. I also had a bite of the coconut shrimp and would recommend those as well. They also had bogo margaritas!

Good food and good for kids. They get their food on a Frisbee that they can take home.

Excellent baked oysters coquille. Also, paella is made with brown rice. Very tasty with saffron evident. The Paradise salad is good, get dressing on the side. We were very surprised and pleased. It was Monday after Christmas. Not crowded. We will go back.

We had the coconut shrimp and crunchy grouper and they were great! The French fries were crunchy and the seafood was fresh. Also, the decor is adorable!

    (4)

My husband had the chowder for dinner he said it was good. I had the starter mix green salad which was very good. It's a very large salad so there's enough to share. Overall it was a decent restaurant

  • Jamie W.

    (2)

    (2)
  • Kent R.

Amazingly good! We would not normally choose this place based on building exterior and interior arcade feel. But there is not a lot to choose from on Sanibel and the wait times can easily exceed an hour. The waiter was great and the drinks and food were good.

  • Darci S.

  • Mike G.

    (3)
  • Michael K.

  • Reviewer M.

    (5)
  • Imran H.

This place is the definition of mediocrity. The quality is so-so and the quantity is weak for the price. We asked for some bread since the mixed grilled combo was so weak and the waitress got us Garlic bread for $7. Seriously.....only place in Samibel during our one week trip that we were really disappointed....

    (2)
