Amazing organic juice and smoothies! We were so excited to find this place on the island. We came everyday on our week vacation. For those of you who think you're not into this kind of food/lifestyle, I suggest you try it one time, take note of how you feel and you will want to come here everyday!
Wonderful place!!! The Vanilla latte, Pomegranite and lemonade tea, Fried egg sandwich, Honey Bee shot and ALL the juices are good!!!! Love, love, love this place!!!! Can't wait to try more on the menu!
It's a very cute and charming smoothie shack tucked away in a shopping plaza. The tweet ladies working were so polite and friendly. My daughter wasn't feeling well so they made her a special smoothie to soothe her stomach. It worked. It worked well and very fast. The Pink berry blue dream and cacao verse was also VERY GOOD. Great snack in between beach sessions.

Love Boat Ice Cream

We went twice and both times were awesome. The ice-cream is very good, but if you get this drink that has sorbet and soda water (can't remember the name) its well worth the short wait for them to make it. VERY refreshing treat thats not over the top sweet. Staff was wonderful and suggested the drink to my wife the first time who got it then we all went back to get one the next day cause it was so good. Don't miss out on going here!
Ice cream lovers rejoice! Love Boat has come to Sanibel! Oh, you're not a local? You're just here on vacation? Ok, let me fill you in: Love Boat is a Fort Myers Institution. It's been in town for decades, since I was a kid, but in an out-of-the-way location off San Carlos. Now, it's come to the Jerry's Plaza, and it's FANTABULOUS! There's a bacon and caramel flavor, jamocha almond fudge, grasshopper...the list goes on and on with their amazingness, and they let you have three different kinds in a small cup or cone. Come, and bask in the wonder that is Love Boat--you won't regret it! It is just what you need to complete your vacation...or your shopping trip.
Incredible ice cream place that does one thing only and does it incredibly well. Staff is knowledgeable, friendly and loves to have you try new flavors. I became addicted to the jamoca almond fudge and will probably dream about it until my next trip back to sanibel. Do not miss!

Il Cielo

We read the reviews and had high expectations. Disappointments: the restaurant had a special which was beef ribs, supposedly tender and fall off the bone with homemade pasta and a side of vegetables. I got two huge chunks of bone and a small beef rib that was not very tender and had to be cut up with a knife. The vegetables were lukewarm. The pasta was quite good and I enjoyed list by the glass was disappointing. However, there were some nice wines by the bottle on the menu. Good news: my wife had a fish special with crab wrapped inside grouper and she thought it was great. The management was very responsive when I complained about my food and offered to bring me an alternative entrée. When I declined, they took my beef rib charge off our bill. We still spent more than $150 here for a disappointing experience. Overall: I thought this place had more fluff than substance.
We saw a play right down the street and came in at the end of the night with our 11 year old daughter. They gave us a warm welcome and did not make us feel rushed! The menu is OUTSTANDING! We have eaten all over the world and my husband said it was one of his favorite meals in a very long time! Fabulous service!!! ~ LOBSTER RAVIOLI , Oven-dried Tomato Sage Butter ~ PAN ROASTED LOCAL FISH, Blue Crab, Asparagus,Sweet Chile Garlic Butter ~ FILET OF BEEF * , Porcini Butter, Demi Glace ~ Espresso Chocolate Bombe....Chocolate Mousse coated in rich, dark chocolate. Coffee Anglaise
I cannot rave more about this restaurant! It was our last meal of our stay on Sanibel, and we definitely saved the best for last! My only complaint is that Il Cielo is not in New York, so I cannot frequent this place as often as I would if it were closer! The atmosphere in the restaurant is very nice, it has an upscale island flare; the piano player was an added bonus as well! We started our meal with salads. The goat cheese is so fresh and I can tell it was not store bought. In their cappers salad the mozzarella was very fresh as well. For entrées I had the duet of veal scallopini and the two others I was with had the lobster ravioli. The veal was amazing, as were the shrimp! I have never had veal that cut like butter. The lobster ravioli was to die for as well, as I tried some of my sister's. Chef Neil even came out to talk to our group because we happen to be from an area close to where he grew up. That was such a nice added personalized touch, and it was great to see the face behind our amazing meal! Make sure you leave room for dessert because Chef Neil's wife makes an amazing Chocolate Bombe (chocolate coated chocolate mousse), an amazing twist on s'mores, and a perfect creme brûlée. We did not endulge on individual desserts on any other location on the island, but the desserts at Il Cielo were worth making room for. Next time I return to Sanibel, I will be sure to stop by this restaurant again. I cannot recommend it more!

Sandalfoot Beachfront Condominium

This was our first stay at Sandalfoot and, I, surprisingly was very, very pleased!!!! The view from our unit (42B) was stunning, both of the pool and Gulf. The unit itself was small but adequate and very nicely decorated and clean. I loved the lime decor. Staff is super friendly and accommodating to your every need. I liked the camaraderie between the guests and residents and enjoyed the Valentine's Day spread gratis. This small condominium fills up fast so book early! I will be back.
Rented off VRBO for 4 days of our honeymoon. Staff was friendly when we arrived and very informative. Unit (1B3) was clean and organized with little helpful notes. Kitchen was tiny but it was okay cause we didn't use it a ton. Glad to find extra towels under the sink! View from our unit was GORGEOUS. Loved watching the sunrises in the morning! I really enjoyed our stay here and was very pleased. Would come here again. It wasn't super crowded maybe because it's October but it didn't feel way touristy. I don't have a ton of complaints, but areas to improve... -only one packet of coffee in the unit -TV in the bedroom was TINY--like my husbands iPad was almost the same size.. -the beach out front wasn't the nicest and if there was no wind you couldn't go out there because of the bugs -bed was a rock! But yay for it being a king and having a super nice comforter on it.
Older complex that has been well maintained and appears to have been updated recently. Our family of 4 had plenty of room and the kitchen and appliances were practically new. Pool area is very well maintained and walk to the beach is very close. Quick access to restaurants and very close to the lighthouse and fishing pier. My only critique is the location of the facility. This end of Sanibel faces directly south/southeast and there is no view of the sunset in the west from the beach area. Otherwise, great facility.

Mad Hatter Restaurant

Grilled black grouper served with ginger glaze and pineapple relish over coconut risotto. One of my all time top 20 meals. Service was 5 star all the way. After the check, they gave us a dab of wine to take on the beach while watching an incredible sunset - class still exists. p.s. Don't leave as soon as the sun disappears. The show is just beginning.
First, on arrival I thought they were very busy, went inside, only two tables seated. Parking lot full of cars that had already eaten and left their cars there to go to the beach. I don't feel that this is fair for the people who have reservations after them. I ordered the "fresh grouper" I don't think it was fresh, I think it was frozen. It was also very over cooked. My husband ordered Filet Mignon, he only ate half, brought the other half home for the dogs. What a waste. The server could not remember the specials for the evening. My feeling is tourist trap. They got me once, only because I had friends staying on the island. They will not get me again.
We LOVED the Mad Hatter! It's a nice and cosy restaurant, right at the end of Sanibel and boasts a lovely view of the sunset. We were fortunate enough to be seated right next to the window. The food served was nothing less than amazing. It all tasted super fresh and the portions were normal-sized, which allowed us to have a two-course dinner without rolling home afterwards. For starters we had the goat cheese pillows and the blue crabcake. As entree we had the black grouper and scallops. Everything was super delicious! The staff members were very accommodating and kept close eye on us to ensure we had everything we needed. Our waiter also made excellent suggestions as to what he could recommend of the menu. In all, a super great restaurant for anyone who is looking for a little fancier dining experience on Sanibel!

Sandwiches good but service dreadful. Waited almost 45 minutes from ordering for our food to come out.. During that time the waitress didn't come back once to offer drinks refills or check on us . It was a non busy lunchtime and everyone was complaining. Wait staff was apologetic but this former gem in a new location needs to step up the kitchen quickly. If you are reading older reviews make sure that they are not for the former location.
Rosie's is a great place to get away from the touristy crowds and get a good meal. My husband and I ate there several times on our visit to the island this year. The service was good and it was a relaxing experience. We ate there a total of three times and the food and service was great all three times. Stop by for their great ice cream, too! Yummy!
We had to wait over 40 minutes for our food when they didn't seem very busy, and they failed to mention they were out of some sides and didn't ask what we would like to substitute. Grouper sandwich was about as good as any fried sandwich from Burger King and the server who barely helped us and didn't even try to be polite added a 20% tip for herself. I would have given her none! We do not recommend!

The best breakfast! Great staff!
We visited Sanibel for a long weekend, and came to the Sanibel Cafe every single day of our trip, on one occasion multiple times! Extremely impressed by the food, atmosphere and friendly staff. Don't let the shopping center location fool you - this is THE place to go for breakfast or lunch on the island. Especially since I will eat breakfast food at any time of the day, and my husband would prefer a burger even at 8 am, this was perfect for us. Great pancakes, sausage gravy, and you HAVE to get the gator bites! I'm still craving them days later. Tried the key lime pie at other places that claimed to have the "best key lime pie on the island," but this definitely gets my vote. While you're there, be sure to check out the amazing shell tables and grab a jar of jam. Can't wait to go back!
Picked up an order to go. It took handing the phone off to three people to get it right. Said it would take about ten minutes and though I thought it was a little fast for what we ordered, I snagged it up anyway. Chicken fried steak was inedibly undercooked and there were eggshells in the egg. At minimum I'd say it was a little pricey for having to cook everything again at home in the microwave.

The donuts are amazing. The coffee is amazing. If you have kids that are K thru 5th grade -- they get a FREE donut for reading a book. If you're staying on Sanibel make this a frequent stop.
Donuts were great! Definitely homemade. We tried strawberry, original, cinnamon sugar, strawberry, chocolate with sprinkles, and key lime. They were light and delicious.
Enjoyed this place very much. They have just a few breakfast options - one ran out by 9:45 on a weekday - but everything we ate was delicious. Service was friendly, accommodating and quick. Coffee was really good. And the donuts - well spectacular. Try the orange crunch!

First time. Went for an early dinner (right before it got super busy) we were seated inside right away. Started with Mojitos. Yucatan shrimp appetizer amazing. No joke, I LICKED the plate. Have dreamt of eating them on a bed of pasta. Husband had the roast chicken with chimichurri and chorizo, it was enough for both of us and delicious times ten. I had the tostada appetizer as an entree which I enjoyed but it was overpowered by the amazing dish next to me. My 7yr old son who doesn't eat kids meals ordered the mahi with sweet soy sauce and jasmine rice. It had way, way too much sauce that was all mixed in the rice so he ate half of the fish and avoided the rice. The service was top notch and relaxed at the same time- we will go back when we are in Sanibel.
This restaurant was packed so we figured it would be a safe bet for food. OMG! I ordered the Mahi-mahi and it was terrible drowned in Ken's rasperry vinegareet...the rice wasn't jasmine it was more like rice-a-roni and was crunchy ...I could hardly eat the mahi-mahi Actually, I didn't really eat much of it 2 or 3 bites and left the rest...I just went hungry. My partner ordered the seafood paella and it was mushy and most of the mussels were bad....(i.e. half opened and spoiled yet they served them to her). I tried one and it tasted like dead fish). I spit it out). Worst food ever. The drinks were ok....I did send back a mojito because it was not to my liking but hey that happens. I was bitter over the 2 dinners and 2 drinks we the appetizer which was Yucatan peel and eat shrimp...which were good....for $100 I expected better quality food. Bottom line...if there is a 4 star review for this place yelp has become too mainstream and people employed there are getting on here and giving positive reviews.....the place has horrible food.
I hate to say it but I'm with Kimberly J on this was not great. My husband and I were staying at the Blue Dolphin for our honeymoon and we decided to go out for some seafood but we didn't want to go too far from our location. Doc Ford's was very close by so we decided to head there for a late lunch, early dinner. The restaurant itself was nice, it was a Sunday in October 2012 so football was on giving it a lively atmosphere. The service was great and the drinks were very good! We both got rum concoctions...when in Rome... Now to the food. We had mussels and crab cakes to start. The only good part about our meal were the crab cakes. They were tasty and surprisingly large. Then it went downhill. I had the seafood paella and it was disgusting. I studied in Spain and whenever I have the chance to eat some paella, I get excited. It's one of my favorite foods. I'm no stranger to mussels, clams, and the like but this dish tasting like badly burnt, fish. Not the most appetizing. Like Emo F said, not a lot of rice and there were only about 3 shrimp in the entire thing, the rest was mostly scallops and some mussels. For $24 you would think they would not skimp on the shrimp. My husband had the dry rubbed rib eye and he said it was okay, nothing spectacular. Overall we spent over $90 at Doc Ford's. Definitely not a cheap place. I would expect they would take more pride in their food with those prices. But hey, it's a touristy place. What do we know, right?

A little out of the way but definitely worth the extra few minutes. The crab bisque was well seasoned and delightfully creamy. The seafood trio featured exceptionally fresh scallops and fish and nicely seasoned crab cakes. A nice piece of key lime pie was a great finish - it was smooth and sweet with a wonderful graham cracker crust.
I've eaten here 4 times now and love it. I get the scallops each time. My family has gotten the steak and shrimp dishes and also love them. Had the king crab appetizer last time and that was tasty. It was the first time my nephew had had king crab so it was great to see him work at. He is now a fan too. Food gets 5 stars. Reason for only 3 stars is that we were seated in the back area on a table that was placed on a slant. Craziest thing that has happened to me in a restaurant. There are no tablecloths and the tables have a slick gloss on them. Four of the 6 of us had silverware slip off the table. We just mad a joke out of it. Then my mom's glass of water fell, the waiter brought over paper towels and gave them to her (my 80 year old mom) to clean up the mess herself. Really?! I'll go back, but will refuse to sit at that table.
Restaurant Very nice inside. The bathrooms were clean and the large window with flowers hanging outside was very nice Service Many open tables so we were sat quickly and the server was pleasant. It was our anniversary so I went to the bar to surprise my wife with some bubbly and was told that they only had it by the bottle but when my wife did not drink her wine, it had started to go bad, they offered a glass of sparkling wine. Food VERY SALTY! everything was overly seasoned. We couldn't even eat the bisque or chowder, but still got charged.
