Tommy Bahama Restaurant & Bar - Sandestin

For the last couple of years we have avoided Tommy Bahama thinking it was a tourist trap. This was a huge mistake. Frankly, it was one of our best dinning experiences in Sandestin. From the moment I called and made the reservation to the time we left, it was clear that Tommy Bahama understands the service industry. Under the leadership of general manager, Mario Mardones, the staff works feverishly to ensure every detail of your visit is exceptional. The restaurant is immaculate. Interior decor has a slightly modern twist to tropical and is in no way cliché. Everything from the booth we sat in to the restrooms are well thought out, spacious, and seriously clean. Something I rarely comment on or notice is lighting. The restaurant definitely makes use of outdoor lighting and amenities are organized accordingly. However, the interior spaces glow with a unique ambiance created by numerous layers of lighting from wall sconces, ceiling lamps and pendants, and what appeared to be hundreds of small halogen recessed lights. Despite the fact that everything about the atmosphere was perfect, the star of this restaurant is the food. They have an incredible menu selection that is modestly priced when you consider you would pay nearly as much, if not more, at one of the tourist trap "fry stands". Combine that thought with the value of their service and I'd venture to nearly guarantee it's unmatched. We were seated by Mario. He was sincere and offered his menu recommendations when I asked what his favorites were. They were admittedly unexpected. Mario suggested the macadamia nut encrusted red snapper or the parmesan crusted sanibel chicken. He also introduced us to our server, Marlene, who shared a similar sincerity when attending to us. She was attentive and kind to our two children (8 & 11), presented the specials of the evening, took our drink orders, and I ordered the duo of dips (fresh guacamole & a creamy, slightly pimento cheesy, dip) served with corn chips as an appetizer. Our drinks and appetizer arrived quickly. The dips were perfect for the family to enjoy. We then ordered our meals. I went with the grouper special, my wife ordered the sanibel chicken, our daughter (11), ordered the chicken strips, and my son ordered the mac and cheese. While waiting for our food, we were brought an amuse bouche of creamy smoked salmon. Seriously...an amouse bouche at a restaurant "chain"? More of that unquantifiable value I mentioned earlier. Our food arrived at the perfect time and everyone's entrées were delicious. The grouper and chicken dishes were show stopping delicious. They were well beyond our expectations and unreplicatible in our home kitchen. The grouper was perfectly blackened and sat on a bed of vegetables. The sanibel chicken was moist and accompanied by delicious mashed cauliflower and broccoli. My daughter's chicken strips put Cane's to shame and were served with a delicious spicy sweet mustard sauce. My son's mac and cheese was scratch made with perfectly al dente pasta. We cleaned our plates with their fresh "crown" rolls (I know...homemade rolls right...amazing). And then the desert tray came out. We were so full but couldn't stop our gluttonous escapade. We ordered the Malted Chocolate Pie, Pineapple Crème Brulee, and my son got an ice cream sundae. It all tasted better than it looked...which was beautiful by the way. All of that for less than $40 per person including gratuity. I've paid significantly more for dramatically less. After our meal was finished, Marlene bid us farewell and we were escorted out by Mario. Seriously... the general manager escorted us out. Gave me his business card and expressed his sincerest desire for us to return again. He suggested we personally ask for him should we ever experience trouble getting a table in the future. WHAT!!! During an era where service seems to be declining everywhere you look, Tommy Bahama is setting the new standard of excellence. A trip to Sandestin is not complete without this experience at least once during your visit.
Amazing, Amazing, Amazing! My husband and I tried this place last week on our date night and were blown away at how well they treat their customers. I got the chicken grilled sandwich and it was awesome! My husband got the rib-eye and loved it! We didn't have any room for dessert but they actually bring out a platter to show you the different kinds of desserts...say what?!?! I am sure they are amazing but we just didn't have the room for it. Make sure to mention you are first time guests, you may get a little surprise! I also found out they have a great happy hour too from 4pm-6pm! Check this place out if you haven't done so yet! And ask for Jordan to be your waiter, if he is still working there :)
This place is outstanding. Everything I tasted was incredible and i favored every bite. When I got there, the wait was about 20 minutes so I hit the store which is attached. I love the brand, especially all of the great beach clothes. It is pricy but Tommy Bahama is an expensive line so that's not a surprise. When I sat down I ordered a nice strawberry lemonade and a crab bisque soup. It was nice and creamy with slight tangy spice to it. The fresh bread crown was a fitting complement to the bisque. I was torn on what to order for my entrée between the Macadamia nut encrusted snapper and the Caribbean grilled mahi mahi dish. I eventually chose the Macadamia nut encrusted snapper. It was a damn good and I mean damn good filet of fish. With a side of wasabi seasoned asparagus on a rocking bed of wild rice and almond shavings. I loved every bite. It got better. Our waitress brought all of us a small dish consisting of a smoked salmon dip and a fancy looking cracker and that was on the house. That was very tasty. I did think I had room for dessert but the key lime by looked way to good. It was a fresh tasting triangle of goodness. Yum! The service here is great and I will be back for sure.

Very nice seafood restaurant. Had an excellent Chilean sea bass made on cedar plank with goat cheese. Grouper and red snapper is also good. Lobster bisque was more like a chowder with large chunks of lobster. Not typical creamy bisque but very tasty. Try shark fin pie for dessert .
This is our restaurant of choice for our 1 night out when we come to Santa Rosa for our yearly family vacation. We have never been disappointed with the food and the service is amazing. Everything from drinks to appetizers to entrees to dessert - everything tastes fresh and made to order. The seafood is especially fresh and melts in your mouth. I highly recommend it to anyone wanting delicious food that won't disappoint.
Worst restaurant ever. Had to wait 45 minutes for a drink. Ordered Lobster Bisque, which was cold. Head hostess brought the same bowl back out, and we were told that they just Microwaved it. When the Manager arrived, he told us he personally heated up the soup in the pan, which was a lie, you could tell it was the same bowl ( it had been eaten out of) when we called him out on either he or his hostess was lying, we were asked to leave. The Manager should be Fired and be banned from the food service business for life!!!!!

Great upscale mexican joint. Cantina Laredo serves authentic Mexican dishes in a sophisticated trendy atmosphere. The large queso was good and was served as a huge portion. House Margaritas were average. Entree was the CAMARON PObLANO ASADA, it was really good. The steak seemed a little cheap but not bad. Fast service, maybe because we came in around 9ish. Dante, our server was great.
The food and service is always good!
We had a great meal and time while eating here. The salsa and guacamole, which was made fresh by our table, were fantastic. Great atmosphere and service.

We went here last night after checking out Baytowne a little bit. We had a party of 13 so I rushed ahead of our group to put our name on the list. Surprisingly, I was told they could seat us now. What!?! That NEVER happens!! We had our 92 year old grandmother with us and thankfully they had an elevator for the second floor where we were seated at. Our table was back in the corner near the restrooms and very cramped but we made do. The tables weren't what I was expecting, plastic folding tables with a plastic table cloth. Maybe that's part of the atmosphere they were looking for? Three people in our party had been here before and recommended the chargrilled oysters as an appetizer. We got two dozen for the whole table. They were spectacular! Now, I'm an oyster lover so maybe I'm biased but my wife who does NOT like to be adventurous with seafood liked them! My brother in law ate as many as I did! For my entree I almost ordered the 10-Napkin Roast Beef but I read reviews that said it was more like pot roast and that wasn't what I was looking for. So I opted for the Fried Fish Platter. The fish was white, light and not over breaded. The fries were par for the course but good. My brother in law ordered the Acme Special which had the pot roast beef on it and turkey. There seemed to be a pound of shredded lettuce on it and he did not like it. I ended up giving him one of my three filets. In hindsight, I should have just stuck with oysters for dinner as that was my favorite part. This is a tourist trap so don't go one expecting gourmet seafood but you MUST try the chargrilled oysters. Also, Baytowne is a nightmare for parking. We had to park a half mile away and walk to Baytowne. Not convenient when you have some in your party that cannot walk well.
Best chargrilled oysters I have EVER had!!! The boo fries are always a must as well! We always go back. They gave us a thirty minute wait so we went to Fat Tuesday for daiquiris. They called our table in 10 minutes and were nice enough to put our drinks in the freezer while we ate so it wouldn't be such a waste of money, and we could avoid the brain freeze.
It's ironic, perhaps even tragic that a foodie such as myself does not like seafood. It's kind of like a musician not liking the guitar or an artist not liking the color red. What is also a bit odd is that a Cajun/Creole restaurant, noted for seafood, is so pleasing to me nevertheless. In fact, I can't get enough of it. Ok, the truth is that I don't come to the Acme Oyster House for the oysters, to some that may be a crime - I come here for the New Orleans Medley, a combination of chicken & andouille sausage gumbo, jambalaya, and red beans & rice. It is oh so good. Equally impressive are the po' boys - the best of which being the Acme 10-Napkin Roast Beef po' boy. Yeah, I know - not seafood... but I love the richness in flavor that these foods have. Of course, no meal of this kind would be complete without a refreshing Abita Amber - good thing they carry that too. In its setting in Baytowne Wharf, you can still almost get the French Quarter vibe. So, if you can't make it to New Orleans, this may be a suitable substitute to hold you over for a while.

Well this place was more crowded than an analogy I cannot share due to copyright infringement. After waiting for about 2.5 enternities, we were finally seated. Unlike some other places where there is a wait and a few open tables, this place was packed to the max. People were sitting on top of each other to get some of that PF deliciousness. The service was OK, and nothing too spectacular. I guess it was because they were crazy busy, but at the same time having your water not being filled while eating something spicy is not cool. We had a few appetizers. The spring rolls were hot, oily and not healthy at all. The other appetizers had meat, so I abstained. For my main dish I had the tofu curry which was pretty good and not that heavy. All in all this was a restaurant close by and we had to go given that we were pressed for time. If we had more time to Yelp around, I'm sure that there is a better alternative in the area.
Mmmmmeh, Not a good consistent Chang's experience... Everything was way too sugary and there was little distinction between flavors of soy, hoisin, teriyaki etc... Even the lettuce wraps at this one were boring. Not to say that P.F. Chang's isn't good... It's pretty decent.. But this place is a little off. Only as good as the chef on duty I guess.
Great food nothing special here if your hometown has a pf changs, service had serious attitude, she kept trying to take our plates even though we were obviously eating. I

Culinary genius? No. But, if you want a greasy diner burger and some yummy tater tots (albeit expensive burger) for lunch, this is a good spot to hit.
The service was fast and friendly. Food is usual fast food style but the shakes are awesome. Diner style
Were looking for a casual and relaxed setting for lunch for my friends and I. I really didn't expect much but it didn't surpass any expectations. The waitstaff were very rude and uninformed with their menu. I will admit that we were in a large group but the waitress completely forgot a girl's meal. It was awkward as we finished our meal and she just was served. Food was nothing amazing, slightly similar to fast food but still pretty decent. I really loved the French fries, but it's location (baytowne warf) made the food much more expensive than necessary.

Agave Azul Mexican Cuisine

Reviews:
Visited Sandestin Resort with friends and usually have at least one meal at Baytowne during our stay. We decided on Agave Azul because my friend had a craving for Mexican. Wish I would have changed her mind...........I've never reviewed a restaurant online before, but I owe it to future guests of Sandestin to stay away from this place at all costs. I won't go into the details, but after 45 minutes and the waiter still hadn't taken our entree orders, I asked for the check and we left. Shame on Sandestin Resorts for letting Agave Azul operate on their property. Your guests deserve better.
First visit on 5/24/14. No wait on a Saturday night which is great for Sandestin. Queso and salsa were great- the best ever according to the teens. Quesadillas, flag burrito and tacos baja all quite good. Great service. Don't pass this up if you're in the area.
We stopped by here for our last meal in Destin, wow, what a mistake! At first everything went well, our server was friendly, the chips and salsa was good and our drinks were great. We ordered dinner and it came out promptly, however they messed up my meal. Which they quickly fixed since the restaurant was completely empty. While eating the salsa I noticed a rubber band in it. I pulled it out and thanked god my kids didn't choke on it (it was small). I told the waiter and he said he'll talk to the manager. So, a man walks over to the table (who we thought was the manager) and starts asking us lots of questions about our ethnicity and if we knew what cilantro was. He explained the rubber band probably fell off the cilantro and it wasn't from someone's mouth. Well, thanks for bringing that to our attention idiot! I didn't think it was from someone's mouth, but now that's something to keep in mind. Lol! So, after being insulted by the idiot the waiter comes over again and I explained how the manager was incompetent and made us more upset than we were before. He told me that's not the manager but a local. (What!!??). I told the waiter to send over the manager. The manager finally comes over and his first words were , "What's the issue?" Clearly he knew the issue and didn't want to deal with us. I explained the situation and he says to me, "The local guy came over to help the situation because my English isn't so good and what do you want me to do about this?" I told him I want an apology and to acknowledge they made a mistake for dropping a rubber band in our food. I got no apology and told the manager I would make sure and write a review on his horrible customer service. If I could give this restaurant negative stars I would. The food wasn't very good either, stay away. There are so many better restaurants in the area with better service.
