I have eaten Here about 70 times. No joke. 100% consistent. On time service and they really have some great tempura rolls as well as rolls that have jalapeño in them. it's family owned and I'm very glad to eat here. The atmosphere is nice. It's clean and neat and not crazy to where you would end up paying for the decor via more exspensive rolls. Prices are average. It's normally quiet and I hope they stay around awhile. I compare other places to this one as a standard. I do enjoy a few other joints thoroughly too. But that's because I enjoy variety. Either way you should add this place to your list of sushi joints to try. You won't be dissapointed. Try the Mexican, spicy santana or the crunch roll (if you like fish). Those are awesome. They have added a large amount of new rolls to and they seem to be adding more. You can pick anything off the menu and come home with a winner which is also something I can find elsewhere. Love it. If parking is crowded...due to there not being many spots...its very easy to just park behind the store.

This is a decent little sushi joint. Their rice is good, and the specialty rolls I've tried were all good (see note below). The restaurant itself is cozy and tastefully decorated. Service has been good each time I've visited. There is plenty of parking behind the building, if the spots in front are full, which they often are. Unfortunately a lot of their rolls contain "white tuna", which is not actually tuna. It's a fish called escolar. There are numerous undesirable health effects associated with that fish, so I would recommend not ordering it. The fact that it constitutes so much of their roll menu is the only reason for withholding a star.

Great Sushi selection very friendly staff as well. The menu has a pretty good variety and for white sauce fans they have plenty of options. It's a great place for Sushi sit down and chat. The rolls are plump and the portions are good. One of my favorites has become the Mexican Roll.

I am a huge fan of sushi and Takeyama has a decent selection to choose from. Their Dark Side of the Moon roll is AMAZING...(it's not on the menu, but if you ask for it, they will gladly make it for you.) I also really love the Stardust roll (wrapped in cucumber) - it's a great roll for "just" a little bit more and it's super delicious. Service is hit or miss...sometimes it takes a really long time to get sushi but it is a nice atmosphere. Parking always sucks, but there is an empty lot across the street that always has parking.

I'm a sushi lover. When I went, the food was just average. The gyoza tasted frozen- it wasn't even fully warm. The sushi was alright, but nothing spectacular.

The Ninja Roll is my jam! Great sushi, always tastes fresh and wonderful service. I can't find a better sushi place around Oviedo.

I'm sorry to say this but that was the worst sushi I've ever had and I've been enjoying sushi for close to 30 years. Where should I start? The fish is not fresh and the pieces are not cut right. I can guarantee the sushi chef did not train under anyone close to being a master sushi chef because everything about the sashimi, nigiri and even the rolls was wrong. I've never seen square pieces of fish served as sashimi. And another reviewer was right on when he said the pieces were paltry. The rolls had way too much rice and the ingredients inside were nonexistent. I've never seen anyone take tuna, squeeze sriracha sauce on it, add cucumbers and call it a spicy tuna roll. Ridiculous! Shrimp tempura roll was a single piece of shrimp rolled with an exorbitant amount of rice. Another reviewer mentioned how so many of the rolls were deep fried and that's true. But even worse so many have cream cheese as an ingredient. Maybe it's my own preference, but cream cheese belongs in a bagel or cheesecake, not sushi! The best thing about the meal was the yakisoba, which they call yellow noodle. It's sad because I was hoping this place could be my go-to place since we live close by. Alas, it's not to be. If this place was in SoCal, it would've closed down by now.

Great food for fun and excitement of excellence and good Japanese food. Very exciting place to eat and bring the family for a great show.

Delicious and fresh sushi. Edamame was perfectly steamed. My wife and I have been here twice and the only complaint we have is that they don't have fountain drinks and the water doesn't taste filtered. The waiters are great and the service is fast. We will definitely be back for more!

The Godzilla and Malibu rolls are my absolute favorite. Anyone who I have turned on to the Malibu has absolutely loved it! The Malibu is no longer on the menu but they still make it for me. That's small town customer service. Love the new staff uniforms, very professional. Staff is very warm and inviting. Just wish the sushi chefs would smile more and be more engaging, even to take-out customers.

Takeyama is an awesome little sushi restaurant. It's sandwiched between a Tijuana Flats and Barnie's Coffee which kind of makes it stand out in this small strip plaza but don't let that persuade you not to try it. The sushi is very good and the sushi chefs are friendly. There is a happy hour between 5-7. On my last visit I had the miso soup which is consistently good to start off with. Followed by a tuna roll, "The Trio" (tuna, salmon, & avocado), and the "Spicy Tuna Tempura" roll. I always eat way too much when I go there. I have not had any of the other dishes on the menu as I always get the sushi.

Such confusion :/ Is there a new quota I'm not aware of where we are now required to deep fry 90% of rolls, top them with pickled jalapenos and now we call it sushi? Not trying to be a hater, or judgy, but in all honesty, we are all judgers when we review a menu. Their menu boasted of "fried" rolls more than anything. It sounded fun at first when I saw a fried chicken roll, and even a bacon roll. I mean, bacon....who doesn't love baaacooonnnn? (Sung in my favorite bacon like tone of voice) But really, I was craving something a bit more healthy, and wanted to stick to something on the not so heavy side. Here's what we got: Tuna Kobachi - They seasoned this with like Tabasco or Tapatio hot sauce and pickled jalapenos. Really?? I make this better at home ::sad face:: There was a Spicy Tuna Roll w/ Tuna on top, and they topped it with.....you guessed it! Tabasco or Tapatio hot sauce and pickled jalapenos. We ordered one of the fried rolls, which had Tempura shrimp, cream cheese and topped with a mango - this was yummy...and not topped with Tabasco or Tapatio hot sauce and pickled jalapenos. I get it, we are in the south, but it's not really the south when you hit central Florida, and when you open a sushi restaurant, please have some legit sushi. Preferably without Tapatio hot sauce and pickled jalapenos. Please. And thank you.

Takeyama is the best sushi place in the area for the money. I love the "good bad and the ugly roll" it fills me up pretty good and you get the best of both worlds: crunchy and raw. The place is never too crowded so you'll get your food reasonably fast and they are always super friendly.

Not thrilled with this place, they are very skimpy on pieces of fish yet average on price. I've eaten sushi all over Orlando so when I questioned them about what I received for what I was paying I was told that it just looks smaller because the sashimi doesn't have rice... what??? Ummm I know exactly what I ordered and you have me just that buy about half of what everybody else provides

Good sushi at a good price. I enjoyed it here. The waitress was extremely friendly and helpful! I ordered the basic tuna roll and it was surprisingly delicious- and for only 5 dollars! The quality of fish had to be good. I could probably eat my body weight in those rolls. They give the option of low-sodium or normal soy sauce on the table. The music is good here. At the end of our meal, the server brought two kisses. It was really cute. I'll be back for sure.

This is the only place I go for sushi in the area. I absolutely love it, the sushi is delicious and the people are very nice. The prices are normal prices for most sushi restaurants and they have awesome special rolls some you will see on the board others you might learn from staff or others. The main issue I have is how long it takes to get your food. Also you get charged extra for eel sauce lol. All in all the place is a great place for sushi and they have many different types so give it a try sometime you just might like it.

I came in for lunch, this being probably the last sushi joint I haven't tried that's located within a 15 minute drive from work. After a long look through the sushi menu, I started to get nervous. Rolls with fried chicken in them? Really? When it came down to it, I only saw one specialty roll that wasn't fried or filled with cream cheese or something along those lines. That was the Spicy Rainbow Roll [see photo]. So I ordered it, along with an order of hamachi nigiri [see photo]. The hamachi was of about average quality, a bit better than what's available at the nearby Shogun. The same can be said for the Spicy Rainbow Roll. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. Again, in terms of the quality of the fish used in preparation, it's about average. The sushi rice was a little off too -- I don't know if it was maybe a little on the old side, or just prepared differently, but it was quite stiff. Of course, sushi rice is supposed to hold together, but you shouldn't be able to mortar bricks with it. Overall, I'm not disappointed in my lunch, and the service was good. Solid three stars, but being on the outside of what I consider to be an acceptable driving distance from work, I might not see this one again for a while.

Shrimp Tempura Tull was just a piece of shrimp covered in rice. Not that great at all. Definitely would not recommend this place to anyone

Really nice server, and great sushi. Best sushi I've had since moving to the area a couple of months ago. You'll find extremely unique sushi creations on the menu; something I always like to try.

I love this sushi joint, the rolls are delicious, the sashimi is fresh, and the classic rock they play is the cherry on top!

We tried this sushi place since we spotted it right around the corner from our neighborhood. We went on a Thursday night, around 8 p.m. I ordered the steamed gyoza for an appetizer; it came with 6 pieces and a dipping sauce (around $4). Nothing special, but not bad. It came out pretty quickly, along with my husband's mushroom soup. However, we only ordered ONE sushi roll (aqua roll, about $8) and chicken fried rice ($10). It took 45 minutes to get our food! Completely unacceptable, even though they were somewhat busy. The sushi was fresh and very tasty; 8 rolls that were bite-sized. Hubby did not like the fried rice because there seemed to be more vegetables than rice, but the flavor was good overall; not drenched in soy sauce, a bit too much oil, but flavorful overall. While our waitress was nice, she just seemed to ignore the fact that it was taking FOREVER to get our order. Ultimately, I don't think I'll be back, since it just took way too long to get our food despite how skimpy the order was. While everything tasted good, they have a good selection of rolls as well as some basic menu items (think: teriyaki chicken, tempura, fried rice, etc.), if there is even one more table with people there when you go in, expect a lengthy wait. The food is not that spectacular that you can't find it elsewhere.

Our primary sushi fix spot, closest to home doesn't hurt. But for specific rolls, they really hit the spot. The Good, Bad and Ugly is a great start with a mix of fresh and deep fried samplings. Volcano is a good warm dish, Spider Roll is the one to get if you like soft crab. Tables are bare bones, almost Subway like in their simplicity, and the wait staff will care for you if they recognize you, otherwise they spend a lot of time speaking amongst themselves in the back of the house. Out of the way location in a small strip shopping center, they are thankfully usually not crowded. If the word ever gets out about how good they are, their might be a wait....

The food is average and overall good. This place is never busy and I'm surprised they are still open. If you want average sushi - eat here. The service is a little less than average.

While I'm no sushi aficionado, Takeyama has always been a great place for me to get my fix when I don't want to travel out of Oviedo. It's certainly not ideal, with varying quality of service, somewhat high prices, and an odd menu. The latter is the most annoying tiny detail, as the menu is squeezed onto a small order form that doesn't list what I consider standard rolls (vegetable ones in specific, like plain avocado or cucumber rolls). Despite all that, the food always seems quite fresh, which makes a world of difference at a sushi spot. They have a fairly priced lunch menu as well, so you can keep the bill in check if you don't mind sticking to Bento boxes or basic rolls (california, spicy tuna, etc). Best of all, the restaurant is at a cozy little spot away from too much excitement, so you don't really have to worry about waiting to get a seat.

Love the tempura rolls! Never had a bad take out experience yet and I've been there 15x at least! Crunch roll and spicy tuna tempura are my favs!
