Found this place via Yelp and decided to give it a try. The reviews were looking up, so I was excited. Unfortunately, this place deserves every bit of one star. I don't know how or why this place got all their good reviews. Maybe they are friends of the owners. :) The fried rice had a dirty taste to it. The Lo-Mein noodles tasted the same and were as thin as angel hair pasta. I ordered the steak and chicken lunch special and the steak & chicken had no taste. The white sauce tasted nothing like Kobe's. The only positive I would have is that the soup is pretty good. My ice water was also pretty tasty. I won't be back. :'(

What makes this place great is its a two in one. During lunchtime I can order takeout and get a nice Chinese Dish (usually General Tso) and for dinners I can bring the family in and experience the same taste and quality food I would get from going to a place like KOBE japanese. All in All, the best part about the food here is that it comes with WHITE SAUCE!!! DELICIOUS! The bomb! Who says you cant get white sauce over your chinese dish! Keep coming back!

I am literally here once a week. This is a great neighborhood restaurant with great sushi and Japanese food. I'm a HUGE fan of their chicken rice bowls. Their dinner portions are huge and easily can make two meals. It's great as a left over and tastes almost better heated up the next day. They have excellent sushi at decent prices. We order take out a lot and the food is always packed nicely and they never screw up our orders. My kids have started demanding this place often as well, they are big fans of the goyza (potstickers).

So this place is super close to where I live and conveniently located next to Publix. And when it comes to grocery shopping, I have this strategy on how I stick to my grocery list. I eat out somewhere and go shopping on a full stomach. Sounds great right?!? Yep, I think so. So walking into this place I give it the "eye-over" to scope out the scene and there was only one other table dining. Not too big of a deal...after all, they are new. It looks clean, and the tables and screens geometrically placed to give it a nice wide open feel to it. I was asked to sit anywhere since it was so empty and the server immediately brought me over a menu. The menu had some standard sushi and hibachi items with a tish of noodles sprinkled in their menu but you know what was missing? Tofu and Vegetable Hibachi! (Insert tear here) Lucky for me, when I asked the server about the absence of tofu from their menu, she said they would gladly make it for me. Score!! (Raises arms in air) I'm pretty excited to see the server bring out my dish and when it comes out what do I see?? I see some over-fried tofu drenched with teriyaki sauce and soggy vegetables soaking in grease. (Bummer!!) But none-the-less, I've tasted some phenomenal food that's been pretty greasy like, a pepperoni pizza, or a burger, so I thought I should give it a fair try since you never know what the flavors could bring. So I dived in.....and I chewed, and halted, and then swallowed. Ok....ummmm, not the best first bite but let's try that again. And I try again....in goes the chopsticks, in goes the food and again, the same halt happens. I'm bummed out. To be honest, I'm trying to drink this ice tea as fast as I can to get the grease taste out of my mouth. I tried giving the dish the benefit of the doubt and attempted to eat it. But after about 4 bites I had to stop. (See pic) When the server came by and asked why I didn't like it, I was honest with her and told her the tofu was over-fried and that the vegetables were too greasy and soggy. She took my plate, brought it back to the chef/owner and came back to me with a message from the chef that the reason why the tofu was crunchy was because it was deep fried. When asked about the vegetables, I got the infamous shoulder shrug. :( I thought about ordering something different from the menu since I thought maybe this was just a mishap because it wasn't a menu item. But after the service I just received, I opted to pay my bill and head to another place to satisfy my growing hunger. I would love to give this place another try, but I still can feel the unsettling grease line my stomach and quite frankly, I'm just not a fan of poor service nor when a business doesn't responsibility over a poorly cooked dish. Two stars altogether. One for the soup and one for the salad that came with my lunch.

I just wanted to update my review for Miyako based on several recent experiences there. Ive eaten here several times and every time I have been impressed by the food, quality and service and I have never gotten a greasy meal from here ever, in my opinion it rivals any hibachi or japanese steakhouse Ive had in the area at a portion of the price. Now i keep in mind that this is purely a fast food hibachi place but as far as the standard hibachi fare, they do cook everything on a flat top like they do at kanki or kobe but since they do cook in the back and don't put on a show, I would venture to say there are most likely some non asian folk working the line considering that they probably didn't have to train them on for anything out of the ordinary. Ive taken a few fairly picky people here and every time every one was happy and complimented on it. Ive gotten their food for take out a hand ful of times including today and I don't much care for the use of a styrofoam container because there is always some residual water that condenses at the bottom of the vege cups which leads me to believe that maybe they use frozen product but I don't expect much for it being as cheap as it is as long as the veges are cooked well and crisp when you eat them. Another plus is that it definitely majorly hits the spot the day after a rough night drinking especially when you don't care to go to a japanese steakhouse and sit there for 2 hours while the chef tosses shrimp into his hat and sets stuff on fire. I did notice that they do sometimes need a hand in the sushi dept when they get slammed busy and I did also notice that they don't have a gluten/vegan menu option but they are very nice people and im sure if you asked for something special they would probably do it for you. However based on Sharon W.'s review I would recommend asking them how they plan to prepare your special request or maybe even guiding them with directions if its not specified you may end up with something you don't want. I generally always order something hibachi when I go there, I definitely don't go there for the sushi even though I know its decent and I do know their sashimi is good too. I always keep it simple stupid so overall they have hit the mark for me. They are by no means a bad resto and the sushi chef/owner is always there with his family and they are always nice to the customers when I have been in there. I do agree with others that it is hit or miss as far when they are busy or not, I have been in and seen the restaurant full on a weekday and sometimes have been the only person there on a friday. I usually always order it take out style so for 9 bux I get a huge meal, soup and salad under 10 mins you can't beat that. I don't blame anyone for deciding to go somewhere that does offer a vegan/tofu alternative, I actually can't believe they don't have that. Like I said I usually always get the hibachi items.

I was very impressed, for a strip center restaurant I went in expecting a mediocre meal, but I was pleasantly surprised to find flavorful food, with a beautiful presentation! Very reasonable prices, both their sushi, and Teriyaki choices are WONDERFUL! I highly recommend the Teriyaki Stake & Chicken!

They are OK. We went there and my wife ordered avocado roll and it came with fish. !! Thats a cardinal sin if you are the server. I had Tampa roll and Hawaii roll, its just OK sushi. Oversized with rice. I think this place is not run by Japanese people but by Chinese, which obviously is a handicapped sushi place.

So this place just opened up a couple months ago and we never got to give them a try. We finally decided to try them out tonight but couldn't sit in the dining room due to sleepy kids. So we decided to order some food for take out. We ordered the Sashimi Deluxe, Fuji Yama Roll and the Miyako Roll. The order took a little longer to fill - they said 10-15 minutes and they handed the bag over about 20 minutes since ordering. We got home and got the food out of the bag. The food was packed nicely in the boxes, but the Miyako Roll didn't look appetizing due to the crazy amount of sauce all over it. They included a generous amount of soy sauce packets and chopsticks. The sashimi deluxe was very fresh fish and the chef gave more pieces than the 18 mentioned in the menu - I counted 21 pieces of fish. Though I think they forgot the bowl of rice that usually comes with sashimi deluxe. The rolls were good but not impressive. The Fuji Yama roll tasted better than the Miyako roll because it wasn't overpowered by all the extra sauce. All in all price is a little better than other sushi-yas close by. The list of specialty rolls is on the short side. We'll have to give the hibachi a try next time as the other reviewers suggested.

So I've been here 4 more times since my first review, and it seems they are starting to work out the (minor) kinks. The lunch menu is amazing, BTW. $4-$5 Lunch bowls? The full habachi put into a bowl, that's awesome! It doesn't include soup or salad, but you can't beat the portion and quality for this price. The chicken, shrimp and steak is cooked perfectly and not overcooked at all. Very good! 5 stars on that! The zuchini I started to see was kind of mushy at first, but they've seemed to gotten better at that as it's cooked, but still fresh and delish. It's always super dead when I go in there, I feel bad that people haven't discovered this place yet. I only take off 1 star, again, because when needing a refill or some more of that white sauce, I often see the waitress on her phone texting or on her ipad not really paying attention so I have to call her over. I'm sure if they were busy this wouldn't be much of a problem, but just something to note :)

My parents live out by the Oviedo/WinterPark border on Aloma. I never really like eating out there but my parents seem to have a soft spot for this little restaurant next to publix. I had gotten hibachi multiple times from miyako to take out and it was always just meh. I never felt the need to review though because I had never dined inside. Well I finally dined in for my cousin's farewell dinner on a quiet sunday night. Only one other table was being served. They took our orders.. so far so good. We all ordered either miso soup or clear soup, which wasn't bad. But things went downhill from there. My mother got hot tea and when they brought out the tea set, her cup had a red lipstick mark that hadn't washed off on the brim and side of the cup. We ordered appetizers and they were brought out to us, but it took a whole 5 minutes before they came out and gave us our small personal plates to eat off of. I ordered Sushi while everyone else got some variation of hibachi. My sushi came out close to 10 minutes before everyone else's meal and i was done before they had even started. I got a $9 roll and was given 5 pieces of fried sushi with extremely unnecessary presentation to hide the fact that they just committed highway robbery on me. My family didn't really seem to care but I take issue to simple basic things that restaurants should be on point about. For awhile, i would just get hibachi to go here because I never saw anyone dining here and I felt bad. I will not be coming back.

For starters we ordered the Crab Rangoon. Easy, right? For the sauce, the dumped a bunch of packages of Duck Sauce on our table....like we were at a fast food restaurant. I ordered the Fuji Yama Roll. It's suppose to be topped with baked scallops, eel sauce, and fish eggs. What did I find? 10oz of mayo on top! No where on the description did my roll say Mayo. I "fingered" the mayo to find 1 tiny scallop. I wanted to send it back but my husband wouldn't let me. The servers watched me scrape off, then wrap each roll in a napkin to soak up all of the mayo and didn't say one word. They just came, took all 8 of my soaking wet mayo napkins away and brought me more napkins! Not once did the server ask how our meal was. So I ended up eating his $17 piece of Eel instead. It was okay but I had to spit a lot of it our because it didn't taste right. I was really upset to have to pay for our terrible experience. This place won't last long. Oh....and almost every one of the "Special Rolls" is fried. Yuck.

I got to say their sushi appetizer was good and a nice portion to share and the prices for a lunch menu were very good for the amount of food you get.

This is a great place. Just had a nice, quiet lunch of steak/chicken combination with fried rice, grilled vegetables, and of course some white sauce. Only $7 and the food was plentiful. I will definitely be coming back.

This is a nice little sushi restaurant. The prices are very fair, the portions are good and I have always gotten good service. I have eaten here probably a dozen or more times as of this review and have nothing bad to say. Its nice to have a good little sushi place close to my house, and I don't have to go to Winter Park, Orlando, or Lake Mary. I have had better (ie. Amura in Lake Mary), but for the money, convenience, and service this place is perfect. My friend and I go here once every 10 days or so and found that they have recently updated their menu and taken some of the fried rolls off, and added some new more traditional sushi rolls. We have tried almost every single specialty roll they offer, and the new offerings are outstanding. We have recently tried new offerings such as Salmon Naruto, Crazy Roll, Honey Roll, and Hawaii Roll and all are very good, and a nice addition to the new special roll menu. They also have awesome Happy Hour deals from 3:30 to 5:30 on sushi, drinks, and appetizers. Not to mention there are generally some coupons that run in one of the envelopes of advertisements that come in the mail to save $5 off a $25 ticket (not good during Happy Hour). I gave it 4 stars since I know there is better out there, but for proximity, speed, price and service, it is great!

I ordered take out. Lunch special was 3 rolls soup and salad for $11.50. Sushi was pretty good. I ordered the philly roll, spicy tuna roll, Boston roll, Alaskan roll, and spicy salmon roll. My ordered came out in about 5 mins.

Stopped here for lunch today. The restaurant was doing some business but didn't get really busy until we were ready to leave. I had the lunch Sweet and Sour Chicken with Fried Rice and soup. The soup was pretty good, that chicken/beef broth with a few slice of mushroom and green onion that you get at Kobe or Benihana. The Sweet and Sour Chicken was OK but nothing special. The Fried Rice, however, was anything but. It looked and tasted like plain brown rice. There was no egg or veggies in it and it didn't taste like any fried rice I have ever eaten. The service was acceptable but the waitresses didn't smile. I will not be returning.

Very affordable and great hibachi! We're regulars here If you're looking for good food without a show in front of you, a volcano onion and about $12 a person less then Kobe's ...... This is the place! Staff is very good and attentive. Try them it's worth it.

I work in the same plaza and love my sushi and Miyako is very convenient. My sushi roll of choice is the Tampa Roll, my son likes the Philly Roll and my sister likes the Spicy Tuna Roll. They are very consistent and can count on a good roll. I also like to pamper myself with their Crab Rangoon every so often. It is one of the best around! I highly recommend it. Hibachi is not bad, recommend the steak over the chicken though. I do wish they had veggies in the fried rice. The fried rice with the hibachi falls a little flat.

I went here for lunch today with my mother. My mother had eaten here many times and loves it. We went in at 12:45. Almost all of the tables were full. To my surprise an older woman is waving to us to come to her from the back of the restaurant. Not my idea of greeting the customer. Unfortunately the older woman is our server. It is very clear that this woman would rather be doing anything else but work here on this day! After asking a few questions about the nondescriptive lunch menu, it was obvious from the server's answers I wasn't going to know any more by asking her. For example: Me: What is a lunch bowl? Older woman server: A smaller portion. You get the point. I kept it safe and ordered what I know chicken with garlic sauce lunch special. First my soup it was good, nothing spectacular but good. Next my meal, the presentation was blah but the food was good. My mother ordered a soup bowl with tempura shrimp. The tempura came out in a separate bowl full of tempura veggies with 4 shrimp. The tempura was cooked right, it tasted great. It's too bad we had such bad service. I would have liked to given this place a better review but couldn't. :(

This review is just for the chinese food menu; I haven't tried their other items yet. I really enjoy their General Tso's Chicken & Sesame Chicken; it's crispy small chunks of white meat chicken coated in their flavorful sauce. One of the items I don't care too much for is the fried rice - there's really no flavor in it, the oil they use has a very strong presence but doesn't provide a pleasant flavor. Also, there are no veggies in this rice it's just plain fried rice. I always opt for white rice with any combination platter.

Very good Japanese restaurant. My family and I frequent Miyako's often. I am not a sushi person but I have been told by coworkers that's the sushi is also very good. There lunch price is a fantastic deal! My personal favorite dish is the steak and chicken plate.

Did I eat at the same place as everyone else? If I hadn't had the opportunity to try my fiancee's chirashi, this place wouldn't have even merited three stars. My first disappointment came after looking at the sushi menu. There were only three rolls that were not deep fried. Three! And one of those three rolls still had tempura battered shrimp, but at least the WHOLE THING wasn't fried. Another one of those three was a rainbow roll -- basically just a California roll (the saddest, most boring roll in existence) with fish on top. No thanks. With only one roll remaining to choose from, I selected the Miyaki Roll [see photo] along with two smaller maki rolls [see photo], hamachi and spicy tuna. The Miyaki roll was okay... but really, just okay. It did look nice though. The hamachi maki was a little off, metallic tasting but edible. The spicy tuna was in no way even remotely spicy. Try as I might, I could not detect the slightest hint of heat. Did they give me the wrong roll? I don't know. My fiancée's chirashi [see photo] looked nice, and the one piece of salmon I had from her bowl was very good -- that was the only thing that was worthy of the third star. Overall it was a disappointing lunch.

I went here last nigbt with two friends, one of which who absolutely loves this place and swears by their hibachi menu. DECOR: on the outside this place looks rather uninteresting; as a matter of fact, my other friend and I (both us of have never been here before) thought they were closed. But try not to judge a book by its cover! The inside is lovely, kind of small, but great nonetheless. It has low-lighting and a home-y kind of feel; the bathroom is nicely done. You can tell they spent some money on the place. The only downside is that the booth seating is a tad too small. I can see people who are larger maybe having issues. SERVICE: The people were fantastic! They were nice and patient. They would stop by and refill our drinks without asking and ask if everything is alright once in a while. The food we ordered came out quickly, which is a big plus for me. MENU: A downside to the place is that their food is a little on the expensive side: a lot of dishes are easily over $10. They do have a nice line-up of sushi, but their rolls are at least $10, which, for someone who is used to cheaper sushi, is quite expensive. But they did have one roll that was $8-9; that one, though, was something boring, like a california roll with eel on top, or something of the sort. I skipped on sushi. Even though the items are somewhat expensive, the portions of the entrees (like from The Chef's Special menu) are quite big and enough for two people or for one person to take the rest home and eat later. FOOD: This is where the minus 2 stars comes from. I will start off with the drink I ordered. I love boba tea and beverages that are similar. This place has boba tea, but a small selection (a few milk teas and slushies); their selection isn't that great. My friend and I ordered their flavored fruit teas (which comes with fruit jellies). I got mango and she got passion fruit. Both of ours ended up tasting a little too sweet for our liking and obviously tasted like they used a syrup for the flavors. Now for the actual food. They do have a wide arrange of food, including hibachi and typical (American) Chinese food. I ordered the Mongolian beef ($12) from the chef's special menu that came with white rice and my friends got steak hibachi (around $12, with rice and veggies) and sesame chicken ($9, with white rice). If you are not a fan of oily food, do not get the Mongolian beef. My plate had some leftover oil on it. Also, this dish is supposed to be spicy, but it was not. Good thing though: their rice was cooked perfectly. The sesame chicken on the other hand was super delicious, and I would most definitely go back for that- minus the fact that my friend who got that ended up with a bad stomach ache afterwards. And the other friend got what she got last time which was the steak hibachi. The steak was really good, but a tad too dry. All-in-all, I would love to come back here but the oily food and the result of a sour stomach is off-putting.

Miyako is located at the Clayton's Crossing Publix Plaza, which is across from the Kohl's plaza near the intersection of the 417 and Aloma. (On the Oviedo/Winter Park line) The small restaurant is a mix of booths and tables, with about 6 seats available by the sushi bar. Miyako offers both sushi and Hibachi on their menu, there are no Hibachi tables or grills in the dining room. Having read the various Yelp reviews, hubby and decided to follow Kiw W's path of the sushi for two (pic) instead of going the meat free Hibachi Route of Sharon W. Good choice! We arrived very early for dinner (5pm) since we had been up since 4AM. While there were no Happy Hour specials offered, they were serving dinner. When we arrived there was a couple a few booths away playing Mahjong and finishing their meal. Along with the sushi for two came soup and salad, they happily substituted the Miso for the clear soup- which is made with chicken stock. Hubby thought his soup had great flavor and my Miso was very yummy. The salads were a good size, the ginger sesame dressing was especially rich, creamy and flavorful. (pic) The sushi boat arrived filled with a ton of food. (pic) The menu says 15 pieces of sashimi, 4 pieces of sushi, and 8 pieces of sushi rolls, but there was more sashimi on our boat than 15 pieces. Ditto for the sushi, as there were 2 eel along with 1 each of Salmon, Ahi and another fish. Sashimi consisted of Ahi Tuna, Yellow Tail, Mackerel, Snapper, Squid, Salmon, Halibut. We generally stick to various rolls and Ahi sashimi, so we settled in for the adventure. All of the fish was the best quality, very tender and fresh. No "Fishy" taste or smell in anything and the Eel was the best I've had. I was surprised that I enjoyed the Mackerel, again mild and tasty. The rolls were also very good. Next time I would ask for sriracha and eel sauce on the side, as we were soy and wasabi-ed out by the end of all of that fish. For the price of $33.95 that is quite a deal for all of that beautifully prepared, top quality sushi. We will be back!

Miyako is a Japanese restaurant specializing in sushi and hibachi-style entrees. As others have noted, the decor is pretty basic. This isn't really a minus in my book since I tend to care more about the food and service. My husband and I split the Sushi Sashimi for Two platter. It came with 15 pieces of sashimi, 4 pieces of sushi, and 8 pieces of sushi rolls. It also comes with miso soup and a salad with ginger dressing (as do all of the entrees). The platter was beautifully arranged with very fresh-looking fish. Luckily everything tasted as good as it looked. Our friend ordered the hibachi tenderloin steak. Her meal was huge portion of steak, rice, zucchini, and onions. She noted that the steak was very tender, making her meal a bargain for the price. My only complaint is the timing the food coming out. It took about 10 minutes for us to get our sushi after our friend's meal was brought out. It's not a huge deal, but it's something they should work on. Overall, we had a great experience and definitely plan on becoming regulars.
