Having become an ardent fan of the Gainesville Yummy House, I was glad to see they had opened a restaurant also in Ocala. In fact, the Ocala restaurant solved many of the few problems I had with the Gainesville location, mainly that the Gainesville interior is far too small and cramped and the parking lot also is quite small and really is an accident waiting to happen as cars try to move around a full lot looking for non-existent spaces to park. In Ocala, Yummy House has about twice the interior space--maybe even more--and shares a large parking lot with other businesses and thus parking is not an issue. (Seriously, in Gainesville when Yummy House is busy for dim sum some people have to park across Newberry Road at K-mart. It's that bad a situation.) The interior space is painted the happy, welcoming marigold color I'm going to dub "Yummy House Orange" just as in Gainesville and is furnished with smart, asian-themed, decorations and sturdy, attractive, tables. Plus, in the back there is a bar space which is handy for couples or single patrons to sit at instead of waiting for a table. They also have two televisions above this bar and when I was there they had the NBA Timberwolves vs Cavs game on so my friend and I were delighted to have that to watch during dinner. Note they do not have a full bar in terms of liquor but just a bar-like space. I do think they serve a limited selection of wine and beer, however. Regardless, this bar could be a game-changer for Yummy if it allows, especially during dim sum lunch, single patrons a chance to get in and out more quickly without the normal wait for a table. The whole orientation of the restaurant is thus: a lot of space--or at least enough, for ample patrons at once, which is good because Yummy seems to become wildly popular where-ever it puts a restaurant. And if you're as crazy about bball and Chinese food as I am, the chance to have Cantonese cuisine while watching a game is such a welcome if unexpected treat. Regarding the food, it seems to be the very same menu as Gainesville and elsewhere for Yummy; we had two chow fun-style noodle dishes and both were savory, robust, and overall very good. Ample portions, also. Yummy normally has both oolong and green teas on hand, perhaps sometimes some others, and the pots of hot oolong we ordered were flavorful and much enjoyed. The service was considerate and polite, though near the end of the meal a bit of a lull while the waiter disappeared for some time, seemingly into the kitchen. It did seem some other patrons were getting mixed-up orders and some level of confusion was afoot but the restaurant after all has been open only mere weeks, so I expect they will get things operating even more smoothly. My impression overall: as good as the Gainesville location, in fact, even better, considering that the space and parking problems have been solved at the Ocala location.

The Yummy House. My wife and I have been to the yummy house several times now. I can say that we have both not had A bad meal. Whatever my wife has ordered and whatever I've ordered has been very tasty well-made and delightful to the eye. We have been to several different Chinese restaurants and buffets but yummy house is by far the best. Two thumbs up all the way.

OMG! This is the best Chinese food I have had in a long time! The dim sum is awesome! But it's only at lunch time. Anyone who stops by for lunch should definitely try their shu Mai and ha gow it is absolutely fantastic! I went twice in a day. Their entrees are big dishes. My friends and I had their salt and pepper seafood combo as appetizer. It was so good! We also tried their Hong Kong style roast duck, crab meat corn soup, honey walnut shrimp, and spicy XO beef short ribs. They all tasted great! This will be my go to Chinese restaurant from now on!

I wish this place was closer to my house, but I know I'd be in trouble. Their house fried rice is by far my favorite ever. So flavorful and fresh. The lo mein is delicious as is the wonton soup. I can't wait to try everything on the menu, but I can't get past the fried rice! Order it every time!! The egg rolls are more like spring rolls, but very good.

Came here based on Yelp reviews. We were so excited to find a restaurant that has dim sum. They don't use carts here so we ordered off the menu. Our shu mai came fairly soon, followed about 5 minutes later by the har gow. Another 10 minutes passed then our shrimp rice rolls came out which I sent back because they cool off very fast and we wanted them with our sticky rice. I guess i needed to tell them that. But we have never had this problem before. The sticky rice with shrimp came out about a half hour later and they brought back the shrimp rice rolls. The flavor of the food was very good. They do not use MSG. My only complaint is having to wait so long for part of the meal. I wish I had known what to expect.

We had to wait 45 minutes plus. Then they were letting people that got there after us sit first. This restaurant exhibits preferential behavior to people of the same race. The food is terrible as well as reused. Which doesn't surprise the servers because when you tell them the food is bad, they don't care. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone.

I've been searching for a good dim sum since leaving Cali, years ago. I read about Yummy and was very excited. Dim sum is various traditional Chinese food, prepared and steamed in steam pots or baskets. They are small individual portions that are rolled around to each table on carts where patrons can pick and choose what to try. When I walked in and saw the carts I did a happy dance. The service was stellar, the place was busy yet we were seated right away and drinks came shortly thereafter. We expressed interest in the Dim sum as they also have a full menu separate from the Dim sum. The happy little carts came shortly after. We ordered the steamed barbecue pork buns which were amazing, the Siu mai which is a steamed pork and shrimp dumpling. The Siu Mai was good but not great, a little too fishy tasting. We also had the honey glazed barbecue pork bun which was the star of the meal, super yummy. Then the fried shrimp balls which were very dry and fishy. Which leads me to guess that the shrimp is frozen not fresh. I'm definitely going back to try more Dim sum, I will just avoid the sea food dishes. The experience is worth a visit!

This is 5 stars for Ocala. Everything we ordered tonight was fabulous! The Hong Kong Duck was cooked perfectly right down to the Crispy flavorful duck skin!

First thing.....the service was superb. Couldn't have ask for more attentive wait staff. Dim sum excellent. The best item was the crispy shrimp ball. Lesson learned for next time is after the Dim Sum look at the menu and only order one entrée for two. Otherwise you'll be looking at take home containers.

I was super impressed by the level of customer service and delicious food! It's definitely the best Asian Cuisine in town.

Great food and outstanding staff.. This is my third visit in a week and I still can't get enough! I highly recommend the chow fun dishes and the honey walnut shrimp. Very satisfying and the portions are amazing!

We thought the food was delicious. We had the salt and pepper calamari that was fresh and tasty. Our entrees were also very good. I had wanted to try the dim sum but they don't have that at supper. I liked it enough to go back and try several more items from the menu. The reason it gets only four stars is that we waited for over ten minutes seeing empty tables for two and the hostess finally asked if one of those tables would be okay. The hostess was nice but seemed spacey.

Having lived in the San Francisco Bay Area most of my life, I am stoked that they finally have a Chinese restaurant that rivals any in the Bay Area. Tried their Hong Kong pan fried noodles as well as many of their dim sum dishes. They all passed the grade and my husband and I will definitely be frequenting this restaurant time and time again. Actually their egg custard tarts were better than those tried in San Francisco's Chinatown.

Not So Yummy. Seafood and Tofu Pot was mostly huge chunks of tasteless tofu. In the chicken and peapods there was minimal meat. The beef entree was massive onions. Do you see the pattern here? Paying extra for one scoop of rice is pretty crass also. Just another pretty decorated chain trying to masquerade as a restaurant.

So delicious! The food is a very large portion and its quick! The salt and pepper appetizers are great! Will definitely be coming back!

Extensive menu. It was intimidating, and it is going to take months to try everything. Service was great, almost like it was the owner waiting on us. Decor was great. I had soup and some fried rice, which was as good as I have ever had. Nice flavors. All of our party were impressed. Best Chinese food in Ocala, by leaps and bounds.

Average food, at best. The restaurant needs better customer service. Ordered over $200 of food. When I ordered an entree (clams with black bean sauce), no rice came with it. Told the server that a rice is supposed to come with the entree. She came back with the entree and brought a rice. I asked her if we were being charged with the rice and she said the manager said yes, "that's the Chinese way." Pardon me, let's not insult the Chinese, charging for an "extra" rice is the "Chinese way", which is tacky to begin with (e.g., Italian restaurants do not charge for bread that comes with the pasta). Charging for the initial rice that should accompany the entree is -- flat out -- shameful. Out of principle, I will not return to the restaurant. That, my friend, is the American way.

Ordered take out last night for the first time. Chicken Lo Mein, Sweet and Sour CHicken, Honey Walnut Shrimp, Beef and Broccoli, and Wonton Soup. Chicken Lo Mein tasted better than it looked. Although, I prefer to have more chicken and veggies in my Lo Mein. Sweet and Sour Chicken was delicious, and I am not a big Sweat and Sour Chicken person myself. Please be aware that the Sweet and Sour Chicken is pre-mixed with the sauce. It is not thick battered and fried pieces of chicken with Sweat and Sour Sauce on the side for dipping. Honey Walnut Shrimp was fresh and delicious. Although, for 13 dollars I expected more shrimp, especially since none of the entrees come with a side dish. Beef and Broccoli was mediocre. Not terrible, but not the best I have had. Wonton Soup was delicious. Overall, given our options in Ocala this is the best Chinese restaurant I have had in town. However, I find it hard to believe that this is the best Chinese restaurant in the Tampa and Sarasota area. No crab rangoons, fried wontons, or egg rolls on the menu. No side dishes with entrees. You can order fried rice on the side for a dollar extra.

food was okay, meat is soft like boiled. first time was nauseated and thought nothing of it but 2nd time by the time I got home, I was talking to the bowl. the only thing I can say is it must be mg's in the food. lunch is priced GREAT but dinner is pricey. not to tasty

Be ware, rice does not come with entree. Good fried rice. Beef does not taste like beef. It's doctored up with chemical (soaked in baking soda may be? so that it would expand in size and tenderized) I do not understand why chinese restaurants do this. With all that said, I am glad there is a dim sum restaurant in town. Something is better than nothing!

We came in anticipating a truly excellent meal after reading enthusiastic reviews. Alas, the meal was not all that yummy. I made the error of ordering the short ribs, one of my favorites, expecting a somewhat different presentation in the Chinese manner. What I received was inedible. The part of the dish which originally sourced from an animal was the worst short ribs ever. They were almost completely fat and gristle with only miniscule sections of meat. Pieces were not cut into typical Chinese bite sized pieces but rather in long gristly strips up to five or six inches long. So that's why they provided a knife. Complaints were met with a shrug although a manager (maybe) did stop by and I explained that the kitchen had no idea how to butcher short ribs nor how to properly prepare them. She offered no apologies but rather reminded me that was why they provided a knife and fork. She seemed "offended" when I said we don't go to Chinese restaurants to use western tools. There was no offer to correct the problem...it was a take it or leave it attitude. Fortunately, the rest of the dish, veggies and rice, were quite fine. And the service was competent. If it weren't for those factors we would never return but we will in hopes their more traditional dishes are better.

The food taste very good. I like the fry rice and my favorite the wonton soup. Unfortunately, today we found a tiny roach in the soup (it was maybe inside the vegetable chop suey) We already ate some and I felt nauseous. No apology, no discount. ... nothing. Very unfortunate because we love their food.

Real Chinese restaurant without buffet or a redneck hibachi! Great menu for dinner and Dim-sum for lunch! Tried them both. Very pleased. Be back for more. Real Chinese eat there!

Really great Chinese food. We had fried rice, beef and scallions, fried rice, Egg rolls and Salt and Pepper eggplant.. Everything was delicious. Great service with Linette taking care of us and they moved people through quickly on a busy Saturday night! I think we have found the best Chinese food in Ocala here!

Wow........ate here a few weeks ago and it wasn't too bad; decided to come back for a nice night out on a Thursday, figuring the crowd wouldn't be too bad. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT!. Service is a 1= total FAIL; NO one came by to ask us how the food was, no water, an appetizer never appeared. Food = total FAIL - Kung Po chicken is supposed to be spicy and I asked it to be made extra spicy (because I know they make everything bland, but this was as tasty as dishwater); again NO one came by to ask anything. Glasses for water and wine sitting empty at edge of the table, no service; waiter NEVER came back, had to get host to get some water = TOTAL FAIL. We THOUGHT after our first trip that we finally found a decent oriental food place in Ocala - we were completely disappointed and we will not be back. Do yourself a favor - for the prices they charge (and everything, even rice is ala carte) go elsewhere. This place is NOT worth the price charged.

Hanging out in the town of Ocala, FL where my in-laws recently moved, checking out the downtown scene, sipping some brews while watching the Pinstripe bowl. Not ready to settle down for the night, we all had a hankering for some chinese. We contacted Yummy House because they were right around the corner from the house. They were scheduled to close at 9:00. When we informed the person on the phone that we would be there by 8:30 they stated that they were not taking any more customers at 8:30. Driving home we didn't like our options, especially giving the deplorable conditions of the Golden Coral on the way, and I like Golden Coral. Anyway, my father-in law is not the go with the flow kind of guy. He pulled up in front of the restaurant at 8:45 and told my his wife, my wife, and her two sisters to go see if we could get in. They walked up to the door, said party six, and were seated. We parked the car and joined them. Moral of the story, don't call just go! I channeled my late nights in Philadelphia at David's Mai Lai Wah and immediately Salt & Pepper shrimp came to mind. Since everyone didn't want shrimp we settled for calamari. That calamari was spot on. Fried to the right point and seasoned well. We also shared an order of egg-rolls. My father in-law and I wanted duck but there was no more duck. I think they just said that because it was late but hey, they sat us close to closing time. No complaints here; especially after a few bites of that Mongolian beef. We also ordered the beef and broccoli, and the vegetable fried rice. My father-in law loves to eat Asian food especially family style so ordering multiple dishes is a must. Just looking to curb our night time hunger, Yummy House went beyond. They provided us with so much food. I can't wait to go again the next time I am in Ocala. They've just heighted my stomachs anticipation for next time.

Our party of four had an excellent experience- great food, wonderful service, and a lovely atmosphere. We tried the egg drop soup, vegetable fried rice, kung pao shrimp, spicy yummy chicken, sizzling scallops, and shrimp and broccoli. All delicious and the servings were huge! Will definitely be back!

Highly recommend restaurant for lunch and dinner, foods are great and reasonable price. Now they change Dim Sum service time to lunch time during weekends only. It's a nice place to hangout with friends and family to enjoy the Chinese traditional food Dim Sum during weekends!!

Cons: everything is a la cart Pros: price is good. Good came out great. Great signature dishes Quick service. Sum yung guy is very nice Over all a fantastic restaurant at least for when we came in the late evening. Price was nice and food was especially good and honest towards the signature dishes; quick service and checked on us in good increments.

I would have gladly offered higher marks but they should be embarrassed serving their signature dish; Spicy Yummy Chicken. Excessively coated in batter cheating the customer in value and robbing them from experiencing a delicately fried piece of chicken.

My 4th visit today for a late lunch (1:30) with my friend. I've had consistently excellent service and quality dishes until today. Portions are usually so large we split an entree. Today we had the Sweet & Sour Chicken, Honey Glazed BBQ Pork Buns, and a couple other Dim Sum items whose names escape me. I won't forget the wait staffs' names though, as one really let me down, while another rescued the experience. While the first round of tea and soda came out quickly, along with the chicken and pork buns, the other two dim sum items were noticeably late. After 12 minutes of empty glasses as the staff went about their busywork (prepping silverware, etc), i got up to the bar and found our waiter to refill us. While I won't burn him by giving his name here, I will give Angie major points for picking up the ball and running with it. She was really nice, brought our remaining food, and topped us up again. Good rescue Angie! (I wish i could have tipped you instead on the card receipt) So far I've learned the best time is lunch time, between 11-12:30. The staff (usually) overlap to see if you've had your drink order yet, keep the drinks full, and ensure your incredibly tasty food comes out fast. I won't begrudge them too much since its still the best Cantonese food I've had in years.

This chain is finally in in full operation. Seem like the lunch service is good to go. I have put my order in for lunch and they came out in 15 minutes. The service is good and I get full attention. This is the last addition to the chain of the Yummy House Chinese Restaurant in Ocala. I can finally said I visit them all-Hillsborough Ave, Water Ave, Sarasota, Gainesville. The restaurants are consistence as a group. Today I have the sizzling frog leg and stuff tofu clay pot. I alway like these two dishes due to they set in hot sizzling plate and clay pot. You can enjoy the food while you have friend love to talk while the food still keep in temperature hot for a long time. The sizzling frog is cook in the ginger and scallion sauce. I like they keep the frog meat intact as whole when they stir fry them and put at the hot plate. It make your neighbor customer jealous due to the delicious food smell passing along. The stuff tofu clay pot are the soft fried tofu stuff with ground shrimp meat. Then it stir fry in sweet sauce with vegetable. Then they serve in hot clay pot. Most of time when it come out, it still bubbling. Overall this restaurant is bigger than the one in Gainesville about the same size in Sarasota. They have bar section you can eat and watch TV. The decoration is modern and classy. Please check them out.

Yummy is currently suffering the blues which is common place for most new restaurants. Eventually the front of house will coordinate with the back of house and all will be running smoothly. In the interim I experienced service and cook problems and we were left sitting w/inaccurate/cold or no food. The dim sum was well, yummy....as are their other stores. However the Lotus Leaf Sticky Rice suffered from lack of flavor/proteins and was on the small size. I think it's flavor was transported to the Century Egg Congee because it was over loaded with goodness. On the other hand I would of enjoyed it more if it weren't so thin. Carts should be in place on the weekends soon so it will cut down on those individual cooking times. Prices are on point for most of the items but the 2 previous mentioned items were too pricey. Thank you Yummy for having the insight that Ocala might love a decent Szechuan & Dim Sum franchise and for bringing us into the 21st century.

This review is mainly for the dim sum. I came here with my family on Christmas day; they were pretty busy, since not a lot of other places were open in Ocala, but we only waited about 15-20 minutes for a table of 5. They only had two carts of dim sum items, but covered most of the staple dim sum dishes. In addition, we ordered a dish of snow pea tips with garlic; it was delicious and had huge chunks of roasted garlic in it! As for the dim sum dishes: - Siu mai: the best thing there, in my opinion - White turnip cake: lackluster - Chive buns: I don't know if it's just my bad luck or what, but I got a mouthful of sandy stuff when I bit into mine - Tofu skins with veggies wrapped inside: tasty - Tsa sao bao (white bun with sweet red meat inside): okay - A couple of other dishes, but I don't really remember them being exceptionally good or bad So I would definitely come back here for the siu mai, but I wish all the other dim sum dishes were as delicious. Still, I'm glad there's a dim sum place in Ocala if I need to get my fix when I'm here visiting!

Authentic Chinese food! The best you'll find in Florida. I go to their other locations in Tampa and Sarasota as well. And the waiter said that another location will open in Orlando soon. I crave the same dishes that I always get, a 1/2 of the roasted duck (it has crispy skin but juicy meat and a great pan drippings sauce), the house fried rice (with a little extra sesame oil), the Chinese broccoli (with added raw chopped up garlic sautéed with it; the whole cloves that come in the dish are too bland. I recommend that you insist upon this!), and the shrimp and scallops in garlic sauce with snow peas, celery, carrot and mushrooms. HEAVEN! I just wish that I could get smaller portions and not have to order 4 huge dishes which gets expensive for 1 person $50 plus tip. This could have fed 4 though! And I will eat the leftovers!
