This is one of the best Chinese Buffets around. Sushi and sashimi is very good for a Chinese Buffet, the raw tuna and salmon, dragon rolls and pepper shrimp, soups, fresh hot and cold food. Great dessert. The price is moderate. Great place for lunch or dinner.

It was approaching lunchtime & hunger pains began to sit in when I saw a billboard advertisement off of interstate 75 North for the Ocean Buffet. I immediately Yelped it & noticed that it had some decent reviews, so I decided to give it a try. We pulled up & this parking lot was packed with police cars, utility vehicles, etc. but did not have difficulty finding a spot. The building itself is a bit inundated but looks like that have & are making minor improvements. The fish pond in the front entrance could use a cleaning since I could barely see the fish due to the cloudy water. The hostess greeted, seated us immediately, & took our drink orders. There was a wide variety of food more than I expected. I indulged in the freshly prepared sushi, crab rangoon (my absolute favorite), a spring roll, noodles, green beans, all the shrimp dishes, tropical fruits, donuts, & pralines & cream ice cream for dessert. The food was hot & fresh; yet some of the dishes were a bit bland. The restaurant and utensils were clean & the female restroom was tolerable. All in all it is worth the visit besides you can't beat the lunch price with taxes & drink for under $10.00 per person.

This is an all-you-can-eat buffet. For the price, I think you get a tremendous variety of high-quality food. So, for what it is, it is an excellent restaurant. I'm surprised that the ambiance exceeds the norm for such buffets as well. The sushi was pretty good. The cook Chinese meals tasted great and seemed fresh, mixed veggies & tofu, noodles, fried rice, etc. The fruits were good and a standard spread. A hibachi grill for those who are interested. There were several types of meats, including two types of fish. All the food is fresh, because this is a busy place that constantly requires new batches of food. The servers were good for this type of restaurant, refilling our waters and picking up used plates off our table. If I'm hungry, I would definitely return here.

It is a decent buffet as long as you realize what Asian Buffets are for the money. Food was fresh and hot. Sushi was standard buffet grade sushi abd my service was very good. I would eat here again and really like the hand scoop ice cream. They don't take American Express which was theinly issue

This is one of the best buffets around with this kind of food. Sushi is very good for a Chinese buffet, the raw tuna and salmon, dragon rolls. I am a sucker for the peanut chicken, pepper shrimp, soups, very fresh hot and cold food. It a good bang for your buck. Clean and well maintain!

A pretty good Asian buffet. The soup and sushi were very good. Hot food was exactly what you'd expect at one of these--questionable meat in a monotonous salty sauce; yum! The dessert left something to be desired, so I just revisited the sushi selection and all was well.

I've gone here a few times and try to sample a little of everything. Very delicious food from the general tsos chicken to the wide variety of sushi. For a buffet the sushi is very good.

The name is misleading, as this is a CHINESE buffet, with a little more seafood than average. If you enjoy the typical Chinese Buffet experience, you'll probably like this place. If you think Chinese buffets are gross, you will think this place is gross. The crowd, like the food, was quite the melting pot. Think Wal-Mart. We had to park in back, and there was an alarming amount of garbage behind the restaurant, not in a dumpster, just spilling out the back door. (See in PHOTOS)

Excellent! Great quality Chinese buffet food. Even the sushi was excellent for a Chinese buffet. Servers were grumpy, but it's a buffet...all they do is bring you drinks and clear plates. Next time we are in the area, we'll definitely eat there!!!

We stopped here by chance while traveling and decided to give it a try for lunch. They had a good selection on the buffet and everything I got was fresh. They do have sushi... I normally avoid buffet sushi, but there was a chef preparing it behind the buffet table so I decided to give it a shot. Glad I did, because it was actually pretty good! I got a selection to try and enjoyed it all... some more than others (personal taste) , but it was all well prepared. Good sweet tea too and pleasant staff.

We have been to this restaurant several times and enjoyed the food but we are Vegans and they don't label their food so we had a hard time guessing what food is vegan or not. For this reason we don't go often.

Try to get to this place traveling NE and it's almost impossible. The traffic you have to cross to pull in is insane...but it's worth it! The place is always packed when I have been, and I have been at different times of the day. More of a Chinese buffet than seafood, but they offer Sushi for the $7.00 + price. I have eaten at a lot of sushi places and this revels them all. The sushi chef is really good, and has the rice perfect. As a serious sushi patron we all know its all about the rice. The fish is fresh, there are a lot of different rolls to choose from, and the chef will custom make you any roll you would like. You just have to throw a couple of bucks in is tip jar. The only issue I have had is the place is so busy it is hard for the sushi chef to keep up with the demand. Not all he rolls are displayed or the sushi, each time you go up to the bar. If you time it right and get the deep fried tempura rolls when they are hot...fantastic! They have a lot of Chinese dishes but I can honestly say I have never tried any as I go for the sushi. In the evening for an extra $5.00 per person you can get all you can eat snow crab legs, however they come out too slow and are gone in 3 mins if you are not aggressive and snatch yours up first. The reason I don't give 5 stars is the place could use a good clean, and maybe updating a little. The staff could be a little more friendly, but hey, did I mention the sushi! Never had a bad experience here.

Good clean buffet. Average size selection, but quality food. There is also a sushi bar and Mongolian BBQ. I would eat here again.

Previously went for lunch and for the first time we went for dinner on a Saturday. When we were told 20 min. wait, it was indeed 20 min. With all the crowd waiting, thought no way. They are very efficient. For the price, the food is surprisingly quite good but the crowd was just too much. It's so different from lunch and especially on Saturday evening, the place was a zoo. People were gouging on the food. It reminded me of the animation film "Spirited Away" where the central character's parents turn into pigs because they gauged away at the food. Even my son said I was a bit like that at the ice cream station. Buffet can do that to people sometimes. Reminded me of recent cruise experience. Perhaps I should return to Downton Abbey etiquette.

Love love love this place. I've been all over the country and I still think it's one of the best Chinese buffets =). The staff is very friendly too. My favorite part is the sushi bar with the seaweed salad. Delicious!

very good quality food. Better than most other Chinese buffets. And I wonder if Amir really ate here cause I never heard of chicken, or any food for that matter, TASTING like a SMELL. I went here with family, I actually live in the Orlando area and the quality of the food was way above average for a chinese buffet place. Service was great as she kept coming around and grabbing dirty plates and asking if we needed anything. Mike mentioned that he got cherrystones here which I would have LOVED to have but maybe they only put those out for dinner since I was there for lunch. Or maybe they only have it on certain days. Anyways, this is definitely a quality chinese buffet place.

I was overcharged and the waiter lied. We stopped here after going to the mall. I ate breakfast at 7 but my son didn't get up until 9. He had McDonalds at 11 and was not hungry at 2 when we stopped. Seeing a restaurant I had not been to before, he offered to keep me company. He had water and spent the entire time listening to music on his phone with earphones while I ate. As I was writing in the tip I noted the bill for more than $18.00 and asked how much the buffet was. I could not understand my waiter. I paid and asked at the front counter and was told $7.29. I realized I had been charged for 2. I went back to the waiter and told him, he spoke in another language (?Chinese) to a female who said he saw my son eat. That is untrue. I told them to keep it (the money and the $4.00 tip) but that I would never return. The food was only mediocre anyway. If you get out to Asheville North Carolina go to Asiana! The very best!!!!

Having never been to an Asian buffet place before, I had low expections but was very happy to see the huge selection and variety here. Not only the usual items like chicken fingers and spare ribs but 3 kinds of soups, many veggies, oysters, cherrystones and mussels on the half shell, full sushi bar, hibachi station where you can pick your own ingredients and have them cook them. Also a dessert bar with Asian and western treats. We went for dinner and 3 ate all we could with softdrinks and the bill was $33! Nice decor, dark woodwork in a Japenese feel, large and airy, very clean.

So far, nothing beats the chinese buffets back home in pensacola and fort walton beach, but the food here is okay. One pro is that their sushi isn't overly stuffed with rice, which is just to fill up customers quicker. One thing I disliked is that they close at 1030 pm but they take away their crab legs at 900 pm [My boyfriend was looking forward to having some, but was disappointed when he saw the lady walk back to the kitchen carrying a tray full of snow crab legs @ 857 pm]. Overall, it satisfied my hunger. It wasn't great nor was it terrible.

By far the best quality and consistency in the state for Chinese food. My god, the coconut shrimp, bottomless pans of coconut shrimp. I could die at Ocean Buffet, and I would already have made it to heaven!! Everything here is good lol, first time I tried Frog legs, now I can not get enough!

Never have been a fan of any Buffet's including Jimmy... That said, good price decent variety...some typical fast food Asian fare which I don't eat.. But they have fresh vegetables with meat they will fry up hibachi style in front of you and fresh sushi hand rolled as well. If you want to hang with some seniors.... Your in luck... It's retiree heaven.

Best Chinese buffet in Ocala, great food, even at 830pm. Bathrooms leave something to be desired.

This place ROCKS!! I don't understand why they only have 3 stars on YELP. I was just there and the seafood is amazing. I loved the salmon and the baked crab dish. Everything I had (buffet) was good but those two were OMG good. The sushi was fresh and wonderful. Many different kinds of sushi. The setting was upscale unlike most buffet establishments. Eight different bars plus a separate sushi bar. They even have ice cream and desert like banana pudding and more along with fruit and salad and don't forget the soups. You owe it to yourself to check this place out. If you love seafood you'll love this and for those of you who don't love seafood there was a huge beef roast that you carved yourself and a ham as well.

Been to different buffets, and generally you have to lower the standard a bit, as they serve food in volume, not quality. Being new and more up-to-date, they go through what's out rather quickly, and so they keep restocking. That makes the food fresher. Having decent sushi and a grill table is nice too. Compared to other Chinese buffet I'd been to in Texas and California, this one has quite a bit to go. But not bad for a relatively small city like Ocala. Wish they use more Chinese style ingredients (tofu, leafy vegetables etc. ) but most of the customers are used to the Americanized Chinese so may be that's what the customers want.

Freaking disgusting! Food was awful! Chicken tasted like that wet dog smell. It was just nasty!

First of all, I'm not from Florida and it's been my experience that buffets are normally less than adequate unless you're staying in Vegas. I lived in Los Angeles for years and went to some of the best retaurants in the country...each and every one of them overpriced. I now live in Orlando and the food there is absolutely awful!!!! Made strictly for Mid-western tourists on the run. Stale, tasteless...plain 'ole baaaaaad! Well, there are a couple but I'm reluctant to tell or they'll become so overcrowded it may ruin it for me. This Chinese seafood buffet is incredibly good. The food is fresh to the max! They are constantly bringing out trays of freshly cooked dishes like every 15 mins....amazing. The price is right, especially if you go at lunchtime ($7.99). Dinner is only $10.99 for all you can eat? Gimme a break...for freshly cooked Asian and seafood? The sauces are really tasty...finger-licking in fact. No, the service is not as if you have a waitress standing by you...IT'S A BUFFET. They do clear your plates and check on you for fresh drinks if you'd like. This restaurant is also very clean with plenty of parking and literally 2 blocks from the freeway (I-75). My Mom moved to Ocala so I've been here often now. If you go make sure you get there by 5:30p or there will be a line waiting and dinner pricing starts at 4p. They also add additional seafood dishes to the dinner menu. Check out the photos here....

Don't let the name fool you. This is a Chinese restaurant. They offer a fairly large Mongolian grill, sushi, and the classic Chinese buffet selections. It's a large buffet so come hungry. When my husband and I visited, it was warm inside, like the AC was not fully working. Service was fine. Comparable to other local Chinese buffets.

Big high way signs led us to this great buffet for lunch. Clean, organized, short wait time for a table for two. Salad bar, hibachi station varied and fresh. My husband was happy with the sushi, won ton soup was tasty, egg rolls crispy, ham delicious. Our table was bused always. Hand dipped ice cream, 6 flavors for our dessert with prime fresh fruits. 10% discount for seniors. To go offered at 4.29 a pound. We will make the drive from The Villages again.

I had a higher expectation of this place because the restaurant was always so busy. I enjoyed the atmosphere. The food selection isn't that large but they were good and didn't give me stomach ache. Sushis were better than other buffets offering sushis. I would return.

Okay, being from Miami I have been to some kick butt chinese buffets. I have also been to some god-awful make you run to the bathroom roach houses. One of these happened to be in Ocala - and thank goodness they have been shut down! So when this was suggested as a "great buffet", I'll admit - I was a bit skeptical. They were GREAT. We went during lunch and there was a full hibachi spread with more hibachi food than I have ever seen at a buffet. Over 10 veggies, 6 meats, 2 kinds of noodles, and some great sauces. Sushi was impressive for an all you can eat - in Slowcala ;) There were about 15 diiferent rolls, most of them cooked with different specialty rolls, not just a bunch of rice and krab rolls. The dessert lane had a large selection of fruit as well, most of which came from a can but the fresh oranges and bananas were yummy. The hot food was ok, your basic chinese fare. Stick with the hibachi and sushi and you will leave full and happy and without tummy issues! The service was perfect - plates cleared promptly and sodas refilled with a quickness! Oh, and all this for 7 bucks at lunch time? WINNING!! **For the weekend dinner crowd, I did notice a sign that said crab legs will only be served on Friday and Saturday night and it is an additional $5 to partake due to increases in price of the crab. This seems to be the deal in Miami too, so it might be becoming the norm in places like this.**

We stopped here on our way home to GA from Orlando and I'm happy we did. The food was good everything was fresh. The restaurant is very clean. I think he thing that impressed me the most was when an employee went through and changed all of the serving spoons. I have never seen that done before and is typically my biggest beef with buffets. We definitely would stop again on future trips through the area.

This place used to be one of my favorites! Being from Broward Co., I know good Oriental buffets. Although this was never as good as Makino's in Sunrise, FL (talk about great sushi and huge selection), Ocean Buffet wasn't bad for Ocala. Well, that has changed! Went there last night and found a fortune from a cookie in my soup. I ALWAYS check my dishes and silverware before using them and they were all clean, it came from the pot of soup!!!!!! I showed it to a staff member. They didn't charge me for dinner (good since I didn't eat), however they never pulled the soup from the buffet line!!! I will never go back! How gross!!!! Calling the Health Dept. today!

The sign states something like this: " Best buffet in the South".. UMMM NOT! At best it might be average. I love buffets and this one looked awesome from the outside. We arrived at 8:15 pm on a Sunday. I was surprised that most of the dishes were almost gone. I went to the hibachi area and about 60-70% of it needed to be re-stocked. I thought..OK IT'S MY FAULT BECAUSE I CAME HERE RIGHT BEFORE CLOSING.. Come to find out they close at 9:30pm.. UGH Anyway, the sushi chef was great and made a couple rolls that we requested..

Since my review of April '12, fears have been realized; food and quality has indeed slipped from the opening glory months! The little 'nice' things like strawberries for lunch and actual baked cake are gone....replaced by canned peaches and frozen sheet cake. The food generally doesn't show the care or flavor 'pop' that it once did. Still, the big haunch of beef can be good, and the ham recently was better than tasty. The shrimp are still the most plump in town and the little stuffed seafoods on a shell are really delicious! Service-wise the tables are a little slower to be cleaned & wiped and there's more debris left on the carpet, but more importantly, the food still changed out often...(the downfall of many buffets). By a hair, still the best of its type in town! We're going there tomorrow.

I am not coming back again due to the quality of food having gone down significantly. When I first tried this in late 2011, I was surprised how good it was for buffett food. Since then, I have gone back numerous times en route to FL or GA along I-75. The quality has sunk to the point where it tastes like a typical cheap o Chinese buffett reminiscent of the early 90's when many buffett places started popping up everywhere, same old, same old. Service wise, it's non existent. What is wrong w/ all these servers HIDING OUT in the tea/water room? C'mon, show some better service besides handing customers the check, WTF? Clear off the old plates quickly and try smiling a little and stop hiding from your responsibilities. Food wise, I suspect some of the better kitchen talents left due to a lack of appreciation and/or bonus not paid according to promise. Management needs to step up or this place will "fade" out within a year, I promise, been there, seen it happen over/over w/ many other previous fine dining establishment.
