Writing this review as I am eating the food because it was so good. Got a giant plate of food, Coconut Rice, Mojo Pork, Garbanzo Beans and Sweet Plantains and a Cortadito to drink. All of it was great, the only thing that was off were the plantains which were a bit burnt, but anyone who has ever had to cook plantains knows how annoying they can be and I don't mind that anyways. Overall spent $11 and will probably have two meals out of it because I am slowing down already. I give it a 5 out of 5 for not just great food but great value too!

This is a good spot to get some good spanish food from especially in Ocala. I have dined here two times during the lunch rush. The food selection is very limited. I wouldn't come with no more than 4 people as the restaurant is very small. The only complaint that I have is that they serve food on styrofoam plates.

Cuban samich, really all you need to know. The shop is tucked into a small box in tiny strip mall. Quaint, and homely, however, the flavor is grand. The staff is personal, which only adds the perfectness of the visit. Seating includes 2-4-6 tops, limited, but worth it. Don't be afraid to order a to-go meal. It will be wrapped with love and a small treat. I hope you enjoy, as much as I have.

Average "Cuban" food. Why average? American sausage, American frozen french fries, American frozen hash browns. Above average, the coffee. The Cuban sandwich was good, but too light on the mustard so, the overpowering flavor was the pork with no offsetting piqueness of the mustard. Service was great, fantastic Cuban clientele which adds to the atmosphere, but there is room for plenty of improvement here.

The Cuban sandwich was ok. The pork flavor wasn't very strong and the overall balance of the sandwich wasn't perfect. I have had better Cuban sandwiches. Plaintains are good. The chicken empanada was not. The chicken wasn't very flavorful and it was just chicken in a fried empanada shell. The service was excellent though. The lady at the counter was really nice. Next time I am in town, I will be trying some of their platters. They looked delicious.

Fabulous place! I was in town and took my mother there for lunch. Totally lived up to the reviews and expectations! Portions are generous, but more importantly, you can tell it is a family owned restaurant that has a lot of pride and love for what they do. The cuban sandwhich was superb, but so was the lunch special of the day. The red beans and rice were seasoned perfectly and the cafe con leche was out of this world! This is exactly the kind of family owned business that deserves recognition and the personal touches are noticed. You won't be disappointed!

The price is good as well as the food. Breakfast is also phenomenal from this restaurant. It is close to where I work so I stop in from time to time for a sandwich. Employees are always polite and give great service. High recommend their deserts as well!

First time having Cuban food. All I can say it was awesome. I had the fish which was sea bass and my wife had the pork. Everything was seasoned to perfection... I'm from Georgia so I hate the fact that I don't be able to eat here every day.

Great food, great price.....breakfast or lunch it will make you wish you were raised in Cuba. Best authentic Cuban food in central Florida. If you live there, make sure you try it out. If you don't live there, it's worth the trip.

The beef empanadas are melt in your mouth delicious. The crust is crunchy yet flakey and the sauce you get to eat with them is a must. The people there are nice and hand out free small samples sometimes. Even though the place is a bit small the atmosphere is comfortable.

This was my first experience with Cuban food. I found the staff very friendly, I told hem I knew nothing about Cuban food and they told me all about the selection they had of meats and sides and friend plantains. The helpings were very generous. I ordered the chicken with rice and black beans and side of friend plantains. The chicken was soft and seasoned well. A little greasy but it's fried chicken... Overall the experience was good the atmosphere inside was very inviting. It's a small locally owned restaurant with a community. It had a very mom and pop feel, great for a casual lunch or new experience.

Stopped in for lunch in our way through to Tampa and loved everything! My husband said the Cuban was the best he's had, and I had the mind-blowing ropa vieja and yellow rice. The owners were so nice- our 9 yo sampled everything before she ordered, and they gave our toddlers cute kids silverware :)

We stopped in because we saw the reviews on Yelp. We got a Cuban Sandwich. I agree with the others, it was one of the best we have had. They were not stingy on the meat on the sandwich at all. The owner was very friendly and came around to give us each a coffee shot to try. It was an expresso with cream and sugar. Excellent. The restaurant is in a small strip shopping center and it is small inside but looks clean. We will go back again.

Found this place after quick search on Yelp after seeing an article in Ocala magazine while visiting family. Living in the Tampa Bay area we have a fondness of Cuban food, and we were not disappointed. Lunch included roast pork, yellow rice, plantains and red beans. The roast pork was excellent with just the right seasoning. The yellow rice was also very good, and served in large portions. Plantains were sweet and cooked just right. The red beans were ok, the only item that was just average. My wife had the black beans and said they were a bit thin too. Nice atmosphere for cuban lunch place. Saw many locals coming in for cafe con leche which we may try one to go. Next time in Ocala I may try breakfast, one of my favorites back in Tampa for Cuban.

We stopped by Cafe Havana after seeing it was along the route we were traveling, and boy, were we glad we did. A beef empanada, a Cuban sandwich with a side of fries, and one Cuban espresso that tasted like coffee candy...YUM! Great food with wonderful service and well worth the trip.

This place is amazing! We found it on Yelp and thought we'd give it a try due to the 5 star rating. The food was excellent! Large portions and very friendly service for a fair price. We left feeling very satisfied. I highly recommend Cafe Havana to anyone looking for authentic Cuban food or a tasty change from the ordinary.

Small town, family owned, and they serve up a great Cuban sandwich. This kind of discovery is exactly why I love Yelp! the place is about 5 miles from highway 75 in Ocala. we would not have seeked it out, but for the reviews. the next time through, we'll try the Cuban plate lunch. just a great experience. the hours on the door showed that they are open 7:30 - 4:00 Monday -Friday. Closed Saturdays and Sundays.

The BEST Cuban sandwich I have ever devoured!!!! Amazing service. Friendly environment. If you cannot speak Spanish, don't worry they're bilingual. Serve breakfast and lunch. They have phenomenal milkshakes. I could eat here everyday.

Good home style Cuban food. The place is small but very friendly staff. The sandwiches and daily specials and especially the fried plantains are worth the trip to give it a try. The place is packed at lunch so either go early or late as there is limited seating. The will bag a great lunch for you if you call it in. Dont leave without a Cuban coffee.

Having lived in Miami for over 30 years and acquiring a taste fo Cuban food and coffee I found this to be as good as any restaurant there The coffee is perfect and the Cuban pork and chunks are the best. The portions are huge and delicious. The service is the best and friendlius.

This was my first time at Café Havana and I stopped in for some breakfast. This café is a small family owned place and their selection is somewhat limited. The menu is displayed on the wall and you have to order at the counter before you sit down. Once the order is ready they bring the food to your table. I ordered scrambled eggs with a generous amount of ham and cheese and it had great flavor. On the other hand, the bacon had a weird burnt oil flavor but being I was starving, I devoured the entire plate. All their breakfast options are served with toasted Cuban bread. I was a bit surprised that they don't offer Cuban pastries like pastelitos de Guayaba/Guava Pastries. That is such a staple in any Cuban café that I was a bit disappointed. From the amount of people that came in while I was there, the Cuban coffee is a big hit with the locals. I may stop by one day to try their Cuban sandwiches because based on the reviews, they seem to be popular. I found the decor a bit out of place, paintings of French cafe's doesn't really relate to Cuban culture. Café Havana is located in Ocala's Miracle Mile which is adjacent to downtown Ocala.

We were looking for a quick bite to eat after a trip to Silver Springs and the reviews here sounded good... They did not disappoint! From the moment we walked in we were made to feel right at home. We were offered tastes of the options, and it was melt in your mouth good! The pork was juicy and delightfully seasoned. The Cubano sandwich was amazing and their home made bread made the sandwich. It doesn't look Ike much in the outside, but it is old world good once you are inside! Highly recommend it!!

Everything they say is true! And since we hadn't been before, they let me taste each of the specials before I ordered. Lovely people, terrific food.

Very nice owner and Cuban which is good to verify the food is closer to authentic side. Got a cafe con leche of course cause they are awesome. Given her son is the expert and wasn't there so she made it and it was good so Id like to try her sons. The Cuban I had was good too a little dryer then Id like but possibly better quality ingredients then the one in Miami but still good. Would eat here again. They say their buffet changes everyday.

I read all the reviews and felt this was too good to be true.So with 2friends we have been going out every Friday for lunch. Whoever drives picks out a place and does not tell where we are going. We have been doing this for about 3 months with no repeats and we have found some amazing places. But this place easily places it at the top with selection and customer service. It will warrant a return visit.

These Cuban people make good foods. Food cook quick. Food make you so happy, you love long time. Service better than my cousin body massage parlor and beauty salon. I will tell family in homeland how good Cuban food taste. We make chinese-cuban fusion. Backy low Foo young.

My mom and I accidentally showed up right when they were about to be closed (we didn't look up the hours), yet they still served us and were extremely friendly and helpful. They even served us free Cuban coffee, which was very delicious. We ordered our food and said we would get it to go because of the closing thing, but they insisted we eat there and not rush. The food and experience was superb and we will go back again, next time, when they are open. I got a cuban and my mom got a fish sandwich.

Authentic Cuban food just like you'll get at the great Miami cafes. This is probably my favorite lunch spot near downtown Ocala. Cafe Havana is in a small, new strip mall on the SE corner of Magnolia and NE 10th Street (a few blocks north of The Square). It has a small, indoor dining area of about half a dozen tables with very comfortable chairs. You can tell by the personal service, good cooking, & cleanliness that this husband & wife team really care. Small menu of platters, sandwiches & sides, yet large enough to give you enough choice to make you happy. I especially like the ropa vieja special or empanadas. Great coffees, roast pork, beef, chicken, fish, empanadas & flan. Sandwiches & platters are very reasonably priced for the quality (about $7-8, plus your drink). You will be pleased you ate there or ordered something as takeout. Open 7 am - 4 pm, M-F. Saturday 8 am - 3 pm.

I've never had Cuban food before and told them so. He set me up with a tasting of several things. I still don't know what they all were but all were delicious and very fresh. It would be accurate to describe it as a "hole in the wall", but it's a hole you want to be in. 5 stars!

I soon as you come in, you'll see that this place is very friendly. I came only for a cuban espresso and ended leaving with a Cuban sandwich and a guanabana milkshake, which all of them were fantastic. There was a daily menu, but I didn't get any, but all the food looked very delicious. This place was recommend by all the locals, now I only wish I lived closer so I can eat here more often.
