I sooooooooooo want to like this place. I know a lot of the people there. Start with the positive: pizza is still good regardless of what anyone says. Nachos are amazing get the small portion they are HUGE. Lots of TVs for the sports minded. The set up with outside area is great if the weather is good and there is plenty of room inside - it's a well set up bar. The managers are really approachable and helpful - if you want something specific on the tv or whatever. Now the "but". Staff - some are great and really friendly and on it - some are more interested in chatting to the young guys at the bar - I get it - but its called "work" for a reason. Chicken wings - aren't "wings" and they aren't great - you are a sports bar - get your head around some real wings. Overall - friendly and a good place to hang out - just work out the "glitches" in food and help. j

Pizza is overrated. They don't give you enough salsa or dip that they charge almost $6 for, and it's an appetizer. And they up charge your bill if you ask for more. Service sucked, girls are not attractive but they think they are. Management is rude when I talked to them about the pricing. BAD costumer service all around! I won't be going back, I would rather go to to Destin for pizza & a beer like I was. It is nicer than the other Helen Backs, I'll give them that... It's nice with the T.V.'s and remodeling.

Food sucks, customer service was worse. Waited at least half an hour for my water and all I wanted was a bite to eat. My group and I sat they're waiting to get assisted as we called for another waitress and still no help, so we decided just stand up and leave.

This place will always get a 5 from me. So before I leave Okaloosa for good this week, I'll update. Good pizza, it's all I order Cute girls... Bartenders, waitresses Chill atmosphere during the day... I've been coming every Sunday at noon for pizza beers and whatever sports. Usually NASCAR until football picks back up. But they'll accommodate. All in all, I'll miss the helenback in Niceville

The pizza here was great! We got the top line which was very tasty. The kiddos loved their cheese pizza. We also split the chicken salad which was $7.00. Now the salad had lots of fresh ingredients and homemade dressing, I would add more greens. Our big disappoint was the da kine cheese dip, while it was tasty, we were a party of 7 and $5.75 for a salad dressing size cup of cheese dip! Are you kidding me? That was the biggest joke of an appetizer that any of us had seen wont do that again!

Stopped here for the lunch pizza buffet. The good news is that they always had pizzas available. The bad news is that many were specialty pizzas that had toppings I did not care for. The deal breaker though was being ignored by our waitress. The drink orders came out incorrect and it took about 10 minutes to get the correct drinks. Then getting refills was an issue. I guess they figure with the buffet you are on your own. The pizza was pretty good though...

Poor lunch buffet selection, but at least had good service.

Fun! The pizza lunch is good and has a good cost. Standard pizza styles plus they usually have one or two specials. The Alfredo pizza was really good.

Also want to like it. HB has turned to the kiddys. It is not a bar! Go to the one on the island. It's even worse. I feel like an American top 100 was bombed and gutted. It's very foreign. Like an arcade not a HB! Niceville HB more like a sub par sports bar. I don't get why someone would wreck something so good! Niceville is still left hanging for an actual happy hour adult bar! It is 2015 for Petes sake!!!!

Wonderful lunch buffet. Pizza, salad and a soft drink. Always a fresh assortment of pizza types and great service from a very friendly staff. If you are looking for a quick lunch this is the place to go. If you haven't tried their pizza it is the best in town.

Unfortunately tried this place again last night with my wife. It seems the questionable work release members, I mean wait staff, couldn't be bothered to either seat us or acknowledge or presence. Word to the wise, if you have a job, this is NOT the place for you. If you have a neck tattoo this IS a place for you. We felt like we were in a living mugshot database while there. Steer clear unless you want trashy trouble. Can't post less than 1-star or we would.

Place is hit or miss with crowds and atmosphere. Some of the bartenders probably have never mixed a drink before working at this HB -Inconsistent drinks from behind the bar. Service is decent most of the time, several times we have just walked in and sat ourselves cause no one came to greet us. The food is mediocre- the pizza used to be worth while but now it's just a grease pit. This place needs to add traditional wings to its menu and they would clean up. The hurricane wings and grill up the street had high hopes but they're still working out their own mess.

Pizza was good but so salty! I could actually see the big chunks of sea salt, not sure if this is the norm but if I go back I'll ask for no salt. Service was fine, but what is really great is the location. Niceville so desperately needed this. TV's are everywhere, speakers can be brought to your table for the game you are watching, and for you smokers there is an outdoor patio where you can eat, drink, smoke and watch the game!

Great place to watch a game, get a beer and have some good pizza or nachos. Nice new deck out back and nice interior and bar. Owner is huge supporter of the military and local community.

Wen't there for a UFC fight to watch Silva break his leg on TV...lol. Of course the place was packed and seating was hard to find. Was there with some old high school friends and we decided to get some Pizza. The pizza was ok, nothing special. With the limited choices in Niceville in terms of sports bars, im sure it will do ok.

Not the best sports bar in the Niceville area. Pizza is excellent. Service is pretty good. The wait staff seems pretty friendly. They didn't invest much capital into the building when they turned the old mexican restaurant into "Helen Backs." Looks like they wanted to open with minimal cash outlay, and in this never-ending horrible economy I can certainly understand that. I heard a live band there three or four weeks (Ugly Christmas Sweater contest night) ago that was about the worst live band I've heard since I was in middle school...about 40 years ago. I was shocked that Helen Backs would put such ridiculously poor "musicians" under their roof. The drummer was absolutely horrible...couldn't even keep the beat. The lead singer was frequently way off key, and as sloppy with lyrics as a singer could be. Just a very poor band. I've also been in Helen Back's to watch football games, and I was unimpressed. The TVs are almost all without audio at all. So most of what you hear while games are being shown is the idiotic rants of the drunkest of their customers (and there were more than enough). The bars were both littered with some of the saddest looking guys I've seen, many of whom really seemed to think that if they spent enough time and money that one of those better looking female bartenders might go home with them...right... I won't name the business here, but there is a far better sports bar in Bluewater Bay, and you can pizza that's as good or better in at least three or four places in Niceville. There's absolutely no good reason to fill a seat at Helen Back's unless you're one of those pathetic guys who actually believes the good looking female bartender will someday run out of more attractive options. (Guys...really...no matter how much of your life you waste on that barstool, that girl is never going home with you...REALLY)

The pizza was ok, nothing spectacular, but im from New york so ive had really good pizza. besides that i can say the experience me and my family had was not something id care to experience again. The service was terrible, the servers were all over the place it took me 20 minutes to get our drinks. Once me and my family were done eating i had to ask another server to find my server, so we could get our bill. I dont know what is causing all the problems at this restaurant but i know ill order delivery next time. Food quality: 6/10 food price: 6/10 service: 2/10

I've had better pizzas, I've had worse pizzas. Great sports bar atmosphere, multiple TVs on every wall (sports on each set) plus plenty of beer options. Menu is small but when you do one thing well stick to it. Hubby and I ordered a large pizza with pepperoni, sausage and tomatoes. Came out HOT! If you're up for greasy, garlicky pizza then I highly recommend this place. Crust was perfectly thin (not like a large chain thin crust, maybe 1/2 inch to one inch thick) and nicely crisp. Sauce was great, cheese was melted and pulling, toppings tasted great and fresh. Service was friendly and attentive but not too much. With our large pizza hubby ordered a beer, I had a glass of water. With added tip we had a $27 bill. Not too shabby. Not giving it five stars only because I think they could add a few more topping options, plus they might be a little over on the garlic. Fix those and you'll be golden.

Excellent food and atmosphere. Hostess and waitresses are focused on customer service.

Was happy to see a nice looking establishment as I've been to other Helen Backs. However after sitting at the bar for 10 minutes and no service I walked out. Maybe the service is great if you are local as it seemed they took care of their friends and family. Being in town for business I wouldn't recommend this place to those from out of town. Only one star since it requires and entry otherwise it would be zero.

They just opened so they still need to work out the kinks, but the pizza is delicious as always.
