I come here because the food is good but the customer service is very poor and when spoken to nicely and positively the host or register person is still nonchalant and care less

When I walked in I was a bit unsure; the outside isn't pretty, but the inside is clean. It's a bit disorganized and I'm still not entirely sure what the vegan options were, but I ordered some sort of curry tofu dish. It was some of the best tofu I've ever had, and I'm not regularly a fan of tofu unless it is done well. If I'm in the neighborhood, I will definitely go back.

Great food not the best but definitely not the worse, good variety of food. The pumpkin bread is amazing, and the coconut rice is awesome.

Wow I was really surprised. Their sweet & sour chicken was great. They had many menu options. I'll definitely be back. Ps. Droves of people come to this place during lunch time.

I finally we to Coconutz the other day. I'm so glad I did. Velar he menu took a little while to figure out what I wanted. I had the Chickpeas & Butterbeans w/ Curry Sauce, Bammy, " Food " & Pineapple Ginger Juice. Absolutely amazing. All of it! Pleasantly Surprised. My Friend Had a Jerk Chicken Salad, which they devoured. They tasted some of mine and could stop reach back over for " just a little more". Curry was perfectly seasoned. I will be back soon!

Okay first off some of the food is good not the curry chicken or the stew chicken then customer service is disgusting that bloodcot slow girl they have working the counter will be one of the reasons why they won't be successful in this business she forgets your order even if she writes it down her service is slow , I came there on my lunch break which is 30 mins why should I have to wait 30 mins just to get my food after placing my order the food should be ready seeing that is a lunch special I went there at 1pm and 6 people where in front of me not ordering but waiting as well for their food shouldn't lunch have already been ready ??? Never mind they don't tell you if something isn't ready they just make you wait I suggest going down the block in a small mall across from bank of America their lunch special is $5 with a free can of soda and they do not charge you extra for cabbage these people at coconutz are just a rip off and don't know how to speak to people and have disgusting menu items best thing I've ever tried was the porridge and the flitters other wise they are wotless to the owner if you care get better people to run your business it doesn't matter if it's just a hole in the wall restaurant you guys should take pride in your place not take it for granted PAY ATTENTION , AND GET BETTER SERVERS also the curry chicken didn't even have enough curry on it to be called curry chicken check unno selves out and stop jacking up your menu prices so much represent Jamaica don't be a sell out !!!!!!! ( VERY DISGRACEFUL) AND WHY DOES ACKEE AND SALT FISH COST 12 DOLLARS ???

If you want quality Jamaican food, this is the place to go. I usually go for vegetarian dishes, but once in a while, I will deviate. I have had the curry chickpeas (Absolute favorite! Spicy and flavorful!), Rasta pasta (so darn good), veggie lobster (pretty good), veggie chicken (good), sweet and sour chicken (amazing), sweet and sour grouper (also amazing), and oxtail (very good). I enjoy all of these dishes with their fabulous rice and peas. If you go for breakfast, the porridge is very good as well. They also have an extensive assortment of fruit and vegetable juices, too. This place is a little hole in the wall and if you have never been there, pretty easy to miss if you are not paying attention.

3.0 for this a hole-in-the-wall that can be easy to miss. The dish range from meaty to vegan. I liked it andwould encourage you to try it and see for yourself because it's worth trying. As for me, I wasn't blown away. What I got was overly salty. The flavors were actually pretty good (3.5 if balanced better) but there was just too much sauce on the jerked chicken and not enough rice to balance it. I would not come back to this place on my own but I wouldn't put up a fight if someone wanted to go. It's A-OK. I'm definitely curious to try some of the Asian sounding dishes and service is friendly.

I was sitting in my tax preparers office and a delicious smell began wafting thru the office. I didn't know she had a bag of takeout at her desk and I was hungry! I couldn't help but ask..."What is that tantalizing smell?" She then pulled a takeout bag of food from her desk. It was some sort of chicken that smelled amazing. She proceeded to tell me that she had gotten it from Coconutz and that they have a large Vegan menu. What??? What's that you say? Large vegan menu?? Soooo I quickly finished up my business with her and arrived at Coconutz at 8:30pm. A small place with maybe five tables to sit and eat and a small lobby area for takeout. I opted for the Jerk Vegan Shrimp AND the Curried Veggie Chunks. The place is so small that you can watch the cooks prepare your food behind the counter I thought the food was pretty tasty. First off, I can now eat Jamaican Food and still have many options available instead of just rice and cabbage and plantains and secondly, they offer many options and you can change up the sauces to be brown stew or curry or jerk or whatever you desire. This makes me so happy! Veggie chunks never disappoint and honestly, have a meaty texture and flavor that resembles curry goat.y hubby isn't vegetarian and he thought it was meat. This vegan shrimp is new to me. It had good texture and the jerk sauce gave it good flavor. I didn't like that it had an artificial fish taste to it but it wasn't overpowering though and kinda resembled the flavor of imitation crabmeat but had the texture of shrimp. Oh I'll be back to try it again with curry next time. This place of far from my home but it's worth the trip for sure. One thing...the place next door takes up all the parking and has signs (which reads specifically for Coconutz customers) threatening that if you park In one of their spots (even after hours when they are closed) you will be towed and it's under 24 hour police surveillance! Seriously??? They even go out of their way to have yellow chains surrounding their lot! Seems a little personal to me and a little over the top maybe? Got a feeling they hate the people at Coconutz. So if you pass the place you can circle around the block and park In the parking area on the north side of the building because there is only one or two spots up front but so close to 441 traffic that you need to back in so that it's easy to leave when you're ready but backing in will be difficult. Oh and They also have non vegan menu items too.

Overall it was good food. Their oxtails were the worst oxtails I ever had. They weren't cooked enough where they were falling off the bone. They had a rubbish taste. We also had the Boca burger sandwich. The best burger I ever had. We also had the jerked tofu which was good. And it was our first time having tofu. Now we called our order in and the young lady on the phone couldn't really answer the questions we were inquiring about and she couldn't finish answering the questions. She told me she had other calls she need to get to. She couldn't provide us with a total. Im big on customer service and they lacked in that department. But the food is good. A hidden gem.

Ive been coming here for years. The food is always cooked and fresh and made quick to order. Very good "local" Jamaican food. They have an awesome variety of vegetarian and vegan dishes that are decently priced. A diamond in the rough this spot! Try the island style fish or the rasta pasta! You won't be disappointed! Dont dress to impress. Just come to eat and enjoy!

OMG, SO GOOD!!!!! :D I don't have much experience with Caribbean food so I wasn't sure what to expect from this place. But I was very curious since this place has a very vegan friendly menu. We almost couldn't find this place since the restaurant is kinda small. But after another drive around the block, we pulled up to a fairly empty Coconutz. Once we walked in, it was pretty obvious that we were newbies. But an older gentleman sitting inside pointed us in the direction of the menu. Quickly afterwards, a friendly lady with a warm smile welcomed us from behind the counter. Even though she insisted that everything on the menu is good, she helped me decide on what to order. I went with the Chickpeas & Butter Beans in a Coconutz Curry sauce. ...but not before I investigated what "butter beans" are. Vegans, don't worry....no dairy is involved in the making of this dish :) And what a dish it is! The bold savory flavors and the spicy kick were unlike anything I've ever tasted before. I was loving this dish SO MUCH! I couldn't stop talking about how good this was! I was genuinely blown away :D bit.ly/QRuvjF The entrée came with a side salad and something called "food." Food is basically potato, yam, sweet potato, banana, and whole wheat dumplings. As you could imagine, this meal was very filling! bit.ly/QRuyvH I wanted to check out their desserts so I got the only vegan-friendly dessert they offered, the Sweet Potato Pudding. WOW!!! Satisfied my sweet tooth without being too sweet. There was a deliciously unique flavor in there that I just couldn't quite put my finger on. So I finally gave in and asked what spices I was tasting. It was a combination of cinnamon, nutmeg, and rose water. Rose water! When I think of rose water being used in recipes, I always think things taste perfumey. Not this dessert though! Coconutz knows how to work with rose water! bit.ly/NW9CXC I spent $10 on dinner and dessert, dropped $2 in the tip jar, had a filling meal, had leftovers for a late night snack, and had more leftovers for next day lunch! If I ever travel back to Florida's Fort Lauderdale or Miami area, you can bet your Coconutz I'll be here again! :D

This place rocks! Trying to find good ethnic food in Southern Florida is a challenge. Everything down here is Cuban or some other form of Latin cuisine. Trying to find Vegetarian food down here is even harder. Finding them both in one spot... Priceless. The food is made fresh to order and delicious. I stick to the tofu "chunks". Get the Jerk Chunks if you like it spicy, BBQ chunks are great too. The rice and beans are good. Seems to have a bit of coconut water in the flavoring. Top notch. A plate will cost you about 8-10 dollars and the portions are healthy. I'll be back again and again.

I had the stamina porridge and fried dumplings... If I wasn't on a vegetarian diet I would have ordered something chicken-y. It wasn't bad but to be honest I don't really have extensive knowledge on this kind of caribbean food. The stamina porridge was slightly sweet and so were the fried dumplings. Now that I think about it, I kinda want some right now but for dessert. Not bad.. check it out

I decided to stop by this today 9/4/2013, as I usually pass it during work hours. Walking up make me feel like any spot in the Caribbean, so I was enchanted from that. Walking in, you immediately hit the counter and a very small kitchen in plain view. There was a larger dining room to the left with walk up steps. The order area was very crowded and there were 3 slim guys working the kitchen. They were tall and slim and they still had to turn their bodies to navigate the area. The young lady had a pleasant disposition and welcomed the customer verbally and her body language. Since the kitchen is open, the cooks would look at you and you can see them. **They were stone cold faced and never said a word! This is my pet peeve w/Caribbean spots in S, Florida. The lack of personality when it comes to their restaurants; but see them in Carnival or in a Reggae concert, happy as a clam. THE FOOD: The menu on display was typical Caribbean Shoppe small print; looked like 100 menu items. I just looked away and ordered the Brown Stew Chicken-any Caribbean restaurant must have it. I then asked the young lady if the chicken had MSG in the seasoning...she did not know, and asked the cooks. They did not know, but said NO anyway. She the asked the third cook and he said NO. Ok, you are a Vegan place, you should know 'off the bat' if you use MSG. Oh, the food...there were black burnt sugar chips in the Brown Stew Chicken...need I say more? The plantains were soggy and the only bright spot was the Coconut Rice n'Peas. The Rice was decent and actually pouring the gravy from the Chicken was downgrading it. I then ordered a dessert: the Sweet Potato Pudding. No taste or sweet, not even Nutmeg!? I took 2 bites and had to put it down. Sorry, not working for me...I can cook better at home, no brag but I can, and I do. There are just too many other places that cook better Caribbean food. But I'm still willing to give this place another chance.

First off, I didn't know Jamaican food has a wide extensive vegetarian/vegan option. It's a hidden hole in the wall place off of 441, but the flavors and vegan options and cheap prices keep me coming back to try them again! When you walk in, you'll see the kitchen behind the counter where you order. There's also a few coolers for beer and fruit juices. Then a small dinning section in the back. We ordered the chickpeas & butter beans in coconutz curry sauce with white rice, fried plantains, and boca burger in jerk sauce with rice and beans. Service was quick, food was filling and full of flavors. The boca burger chucks was bit dry, although the jerk sauce made up for it. I loved the creamy chickpeas dish, but I prefer it spicer. It was a crazy mix of curry flava on my plate. They also have vegan desserts, I left with the sweet potato pudding after much review. It tasted very doughy and starchy with subtle hits of sweet potato flavor and spices like cinnamon and all spice. It tasted like a diabetic sweet potato flour less cake in my opinion. I'll definitely come back to try the vegetarian breakfast stamina porridge and the vegan seafood options with choice of sauced: stir fry, jerk, BBQ, curry, etc. definitely supporting more mom-n-pop shops in the neighborhood.

Yummy! I had the curry chicken meal. It tasted home cooked! The only problem was that it was just a little bit too salty for me. Other than that it was exactly what I wanted! Also their fried dumpling is delicious. And they have some of the best restaurant-style fried plantains I have ever had
