Very tasty food, definitely fresh for a fast food place, squeaky clean spacious and the service is extremely fast! Love the location, if you work on Brickell the Metro mover will drop you off a block west of it after a couple of stops, College/Bayside to be specific. I was very pleasantly surprised to taste a delicious Mexican style shrimp ceviche. They also have good Mexican beer on draft at a very reasonable price. I don't give it 5 stars because I save those for my absolute faves that I'm obsessed with but not because I don't think that they deserve it.

Yummy, affordable, and they gave me lots of extra chips and large take out containers for salsa when I said it was for a party... At no extra cost! Nice service and good guac.

Excellent Mexican food. I love their Tostada salad. The ingredients are super fresh and taste delicious. I also love their burritos. It is quality food for an affordable price. I eat here almost everyday. The place is clean and fast service. What else can you ask for? I usually stop by for lunch but sometimes I also order delivery through Bite Squad. So far, I have never been disappointed with my food

Ok I had to try this place one more time because I really love the Fort Lauderdale one and have been going there for 7+ years. First, nice touch the guy making the food was wearing gloves. So that was nice to see so we are off to a good start. I ordered my typical salad and my husband got the carne asada burrito. Everything this time around was perfect! I can't wait to go back now!

I can't believe how good everything is here. I am not a student (been a long time LOL) but my daughter is and she loves the student discount. She was actually the one who told me to go here and try the guacamole. I did and it was just as good as she said it was!! But I also ordered a tostada salad and was very impressed with that also. The restaurant was clean and staff friendly!!! Would recommend!!

For fast Mexican food, this place is pretty good! I usually get a steak taco salad and everything seems pretty fresh and the price is great.

I'm a student at MDC in downtown and Zona Fresca is walking distance from school. The food is amazing and always always always fresh! I go at least 3 times a week for the tostada salad and some chips and guacamole! My boyfriend usually gets the quesadilla and they are lovely!! I absolutely love this place and will continue to be a customer!

My fave Mexican place!!!! So good, so yummy. They have a salsa bar, so you can try many different salsas (free, of course) and they also serve you complimentary tortilla chips, either on a to-go baggy or if you're dining in, in a bowl. Since it's a block away from Mdc Wolfson campus, many students go there and they also offer a student discount and have a special student "on the budget" menu. So that's always good! Side note: there Pico de gallo NEVER LET'S ME DOWN I will say, but I do not mind because they're That good... During lunch time, it does get pretty packed. Since it is in the heart of downtown, many students, tourists, and people that work near by do go there to have lunch, and it's a packed house! Thankfully, the place is pretty big, so we're not packed like sardines. Overall, my fave Mexican spot. Never let's me down! Just wish there was one close to my house (I live in Sunny Isles) I can only eat there when I'm in the downtown area (I work in Brickell)

You can't really go wrong with Mexican, but it's rare that a restaurant goes this right. The food is made well, affordable, and most importantly, tasty. Plus, they've got discounts for college students, so if you're at Dade and have some time between classes, I'd highly recommend stopping in for lunch, or dinner. Great atmosphere, casual and inviting, with enough going on to make it fun, but not at the level where it's hard to hear what people at your table are saying.

Fresh zone indeed! Very clean. Their menu is huge and they even have Chiles Rellenos!! I had the quesadilla this time for only $8! *Student special discount. Friendly staff explained everything Before I even asked. Did I mention their salsa bar? Not from bottles, homemade and chunky! Will be back!

I love a good burrito. And they make a good burrito here at Zona Fresca. I got the Grilled Veggie with Black Beans burrito. The vegetables were fresh and not over cooked. The black beans were tasty. The cheese was just right. The rice was moist. Not dried out. The salsa bar was great. Nice choice of types. The hot type was warm. Those whole roasted peppers... now they have a kick. The pickled carrots and onions are yummy too. Free tortilla chips with every order. Home made and tasty. Not too salty and I hear you can go back for me. The price is right and the service is typical go order and pick up style. I hope they are around for awhile cause I plan on going back.

Great place to grab a quick lunch or dinner. Food taste very fresh but their service is even better! Their chips are my favorite since they are a little thicker than other tortilla chips and pairs perfect with their chunky guac. I recommend the baja fish tacos and the gringo style steak tacos, very good! Great location, right on biscayne across from Bayside. They really keep this place spotless. Most places in downtown can feel a bit dirty and over run but Zona Fresca employees keep it clean, organized and very welcoming. Cleanest salsa bar around!

Had a large dinner after a LONG drive to Miami. This was perfect. Not too heavy, but very satisfying. Had the shrimp burrito and got it enchilada style. Was great, would come back here in a heartbeat. I've eaten at a lot of these quick burrito places (Moe's, Chipotle, etc.) And I'm usually disappointed.. Not so with this place. Fantastic.

Excellent new fast casual Mexican restaurant in downtown Miami. One of my favorites from Ft. Lauderdale has finally made it to downtown Miami. I love this place! If new restaurants would just listen up, the key to success is found here: Very fresh ingredients, friendly and welcoming service, it's a great value and convenient to everything downtown. As good or better than Lime. This place will be around for awhile. Welcome to the neighborhood!

I work in the area and stumbled upon it for lunch. Clean and inviting. Menu offers variety of burritos and other deliciousness. Service was super friendly. They gave me extra chips and guacamole since it was my first time. Salsa bar offers different kinds and plentiful. Prices are good. Recommend as a lunch option.

We are craving for some good salsa and nachos and this place definitely fulfilled that wish. I commend the salsa bar. A lot of choices. Place is so pretty and enticing. After a long walk around downtown and Overtown (which by the way is a very very shady place and I recommend no one to walk in that area), sitting down and just taking time to munch on our meal is a good treat. They have meals for students and it is very affordable starting at $6.

An amazingly simple, clean, friendly location in South Miami! And, the food is exceptionally fresh, their salsa and condiments are so tasty and obviously freshly made! They say their mission since 1996 hasn't changed: ". ...to serve not your everyday Mexican food, but to serve Mexican food you eat everyday". Great simplicity, friendly staff, very reasonable about substitutions, just all in all a fun place to eat, daily if you want!

Inexpensive and delicious! I've yet to have anything here I do not like and they have excellent salsas to go with, depending on the kind of heat you like. Also they have the good chips that aren't stale (an important detail). The staff are super friendly. Highly recommend.

Delicious food, and the service it is great....even tho I'm alergic to yellow cheese they made me great nachos with white cheese....I eat there around 7 times during the week since it is so close to my place and fresh. Beside they customized the foods when I feel like eating something different... I recommend it and hope the service still as good as always.

There are not too many options for Mexican food in Downtown Miami. Zona Fresca is just wanted I needed to fix my Taco Tuesday cravings! This is located where 100 Montaditos used to be and what an upgrade it is. The restaurant is spacious and offers plenty of comfortable seating. It wish the menu was a little more legible - print was small on the screen. Waiting in line was the most difficult part of my experience. The fresh salsa bar was being refilled and everything looked great! I was happy to see that there is a "starving student special" (combos of $6 tacos, $7 burritos, $8 quesadillas). I ordered the chicken burrito that came with guacamole (no extra charge -- side eye chipotle). The burrito was pretty good! Everything tasted great together but I do think the beans could have used more seasoning. Unfortunately the burrito didn't hold up too well as I was nearing the end. The salsa fresca was fantastic and enhanced the entire burrito! Chips are unlimited so needless to say I probably had more salsa than necessary. SO. GOOD. Overall, I cannot wait to go back particularly for the economical student discount. The restraurant lives up to its name!

Don't order the machaca tacos, they don't put very much in and the quality is not very good. They need to put some pork in a slow cooker michoacan style instead.

  • Bill B.

I had their tacos and was not impressed. They had a weird flavor to them. Staff was friendly and the place has a cool environment. the place is right around the block form where I just moved which would have been great if their food was up to par. I doubt I will be back and I can't recommend this place.

For a quick meal, this is pretty decent. I ordered the chicken salad which was surprisingly good. It was tasty and didnt feel like it was 1000 calories which most fast-food, mexican tastes like (even if I just got a salad...) Friend had a burrito, said it was super fresh and ingredients were great as well. They have a salsa bar, and a decent variety of dishes compared to its competition. Overall, this is a restaurant to grab a quick meal and leave you satisfied and full.

I moved into the neighborhood recently and there is definitely a shortage of quick, affordable, take out places with moderately healthy options (and plenty of less healthy treats too!). I thought this place would be a disappointing fast food chain but... It's surprisingly good! The garden salad with grilled chicken is my go to, and is super fresh. The chicken is warm and fresh grilled and the vegetables are never old and tired. Free chips and salsa bar? Awesome! Staff might have a few high school kids, but they work hard, are pleasant, and do their job properly. The place always seems clean, and they are careful to accommodate my allergy to certain ingredients.

Eh. I live very close by so I hope this place does better but my first visit is very eh. I gave it two stars just to make sure the review does not get edited out. The tacos were pretty decent, I had the fish tacos and the fish tasted good, a little too much sour cream for fish though. The cilantro rice was horrible. No taste and over cooked. How a Mexican taco place gives over cooked rice I don't know. It seems like that or the beans where not exact.y the most fresh things either as both people who ate it have had not a good reaction to them either. Next time I will try something different or just not go for the combo. But there needs to be big improvements if I go more than one more time. Lime is much much better. Again forget about some people not agreeing with the food. That happens sometimes. How does a Mexican place give you hard, dry, over cooked rice?! I really can't get over that,

Has to be the best fish tacos we have ever had!!! We also ordered the chicken burrito and it was absolutely delicious! The salsa bar was outstanding. The freshest I've had at a "bar". Definitely will be eating here again during our stay!! Oh did I mention that it was well under $20!! Quality counts!

The food is great, fast and very healthy! The people are always nice and very helpful. I go there once a week since they opened this location. I will be going there every week going forward as well. The salsa bar is an added bonus. You can get as much salsa, limes and hot peppers as you need and want. The chips they give you are always fresh and crispy. I highly recommend this place.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
