Surprisingly good pizza. Ask for them to sprinkle it with truffle oil.

Yummyyyyyyyyy! I love this place! It's hidden in a strip mall off the turnpike but it's really good. The gelato is always a fan favorite and the pizza is really good! I really enjoy this place every time I go! They have these rice ball appetizers that are really good! I highly recommend those and the Hawaiian pizza. Man, I'm starting to get hungry!

I'm giving Spizzigo four stars only because I couldn't order from the full menu, as I came in around 11pm with a group of 15. Despite all that, the food came out relatively quick and was quite tasty. Good thin crust, coal-fire style.

I come here when I'm in the mood for good pizza. Which means I'm there quite often. The pizza is thin and crunchy just the way I like it. I like the Ochio D Bue bc it has a fried egg, bacon and ham. Need I say more? The service is ehh, but I go for the pizza!

First the service was very poor. Pizza was cold and the bill was very expensive for a couple of pizzas. This is not Lincoln Road. Waiter was very slow maybe to busy, When I presented a restaurant.com coupon, they do not accept coupons any more, but they suggest a 15 to 22 % tip. What a joke.

Finally a restaurant thats not part of a chain. The service was great, the server suggested a pizza thats off the menu, he called it rickys pizza, and even though it looked like a simply pizza with just sauce and buffala mozzarella on top it was just amazing. My girlfriend had the tropical salad ( it was off the menu too) with chicken and even though it was a bit pricey it was a solid 10/10. As far as as desserts go we had the calzone with nutella that brings the gelato scoop, i recomend it to anyone that likes chocolate. The check came in at 45 bucks and well worth. Definatelly going back when i have the chance.

I saw this place, shrugged it off because it seemed to tout pizza and gelato - and I had wanted pasta. Then I drove around Doral, visited 4 or 5 Italian restaurants (including Sammy's, Basilico, Loven Ovens) and became dismayed that they were all closed on a Sunday. Where do Italians eat on Sundays?! Well, I had no clue either, so my friend and I went back to Spizzigo - a place with virtually no reviews from any webpage in the entire world of the web! Whene walked in, we were treated with a lovely sight of gelato - but we wanted food! Once we seated down in this casual cafe-atmosphere, I had asked the waitress what was good here - and she flatly said pizza - much to my surprise after having read the PIZZA sign outside and seeing that about half of the menu were pizza items (maybe 15 varieties of pizza v. 5 pasta dishes). And wanting good food, I decided to stick with pizza and I had the one with ham and mushrooms, which was also recommended by the waitress. My two friends defied the waitress and ordered pasta - a lasagna and a pasta dish with stuffed ricotta and spinach. Much to my dismay, the pizza (reminiscence of Italian wood-brick-oven style pizzas) fell short of the spectacular tasting pasta. The lasagna was no regular lasagna (no red sauce), and it was scrumptious. The spinach and ricotta pasta was utterly divine, thanks also to the rich sauce it was in. And my pizza? It was just pizza, I couldn't say much more - very mediocre. And the gelato? The tiramisu flavor was just okay, and the stracciatella was pretty good. Verdict: I would return, but for the affordable pasta dishes. And for those looking to buy good brands of pannetone - I saw a good variety in stock here. Lavazza coffee served on the premises as well.

In this restaurant they make those individual thin crust pizza, they are so delicious and the to ping combinations are great. my favorite is the sun-dried tomato with chicken and goat cheese or the prosciutto with basil. they also have gelato which is great. and the price is right!!!

Even when i've never been in Italy, i consider myself a crunchy- wood fired pizza super fan and last night i found the place in Miami that made the best ones of all!!! With a nice and friendly environment Spizzigo had treat me like its best costumer. The service was great and the pizzas amazing! I totally recommended!

This restaurant wins the award for the most Disgusting salad. If you can't even make a salad You should just shut down the place. 1. The chicken was dry and was as hard as a cardboard. 2. Horrible dressing. 3. EXPENSIVE $17.00 I wish there was an option to not put even 1 star.

    (1)
  • Patrick P.

Sorry spizzigo. Your small expensive thin cardboard pizza is not worth half the price. I ordered a pepperoni and margarita pizza and got the pepperoni and a cheese pizza. For these smaller than a medium pizzas I paid $20 (these are only 4 little slices each- think just slightly bigger than a Totinos pizza). You won't see me return for a second try of anything else on the menu. Even the big chain pizza joints are better. Way better.

Spizzigo is by far my favorite wood fired pizza place in Doral!!! The flavors are fresh and tasty and there is a wide variety of delicious selections!!! They also have really amZing and original salad options!! Oh, and for dessert they have fabulous gelato flavors to choose from!!! Wether I'm craving pizza or salad, spizzigo is my place to go!! My favorite pizzas are: - Pepperoni pizza - Caprese - Fungi e Pollo - Margherita My favorite salads are: - Insalata de Pere e Gorgonzola - Insalata di Fragola e Pollo (ask for the passion fruit vinaigrette!!! Delish) My favorite gelato: - Tiramisu :p

Absolutely horrible! DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS PLACE!!! My order was for delivery. I called at 8:40pm my order didn't arrive until 10:15pm. My pizza was cold and stale. Almost unbearable to chew. What one would assume chewing cardboard would be like. Our Greek salad is a field of lettuce and onion, and no dressing. We ordered Bruschetta Mista which is suppose to come with toasted bread, marinated tomatoes, roasted peppers, mushrooms and mozzarella. Nope! I received nasty soggy bread with diced tomatoes and melted (cold) cheese. I called the restaurant and asked to speak to the manager, the girl asked "for what?!" Put the phone down and I'm assuming she went to get the manager. I waited a while. "The manager" then grabbed the phone, I asked if he spoke English cause he was about to start speaking Spanish and he put me on hold. Where I waited another while before I hung up and decided yelp. Yelp would help by letting everyone know this place sucks along with their customer service. WE WILL NEVER ORDER FROM THIS PLACE AGAIN!!!!!!!! Take your money elsewhere.

Great pizza but poor service. Takes about an hour and a half for delivery on a weekday if they even will deliver. Not worth taking a chance.

Great pizzas. Good prize. Perfect for family with children AND every pizza is at $10 on Mondays!

  • Erick S.

The service was great, the pizza "Blancaneve" was Awesome, it had truffle oil that made it very good, would definitely recommend. The only thing I did find a little lacking was the non alcoholic drink selection, other than that nice place.

  • JoCat R.

Horrible. Came here once and was good then I ordered for delivery and the pizza literally came cold and an hour and a half later. I was so disappointed. We paid almost $35 for two pizzas

The pizza and pasta is excellent. I particularly like the pizza with mushrooms and truffle oil, delicious! The staff is friendly and the setting is casual and homey. Good place to come with the family and/or friends.

Great place excellent food and very friendly service. I had Arancini for appetizer and ravioli di ricotta alla corleone and it was amazing. Definitely the best Italian food in Doral.

  • Ammar R.

entrée: I ordered a chicken penne pasta with pesto sauce. For the $17-$18 I paid, the portions were measly. The taste? Extremely bland and disappointing. The very least they could have done would have been to throw in a side of bread to make the meal more interesting, but nope. dessert: I got pistachio flavored gelato which was yummy. They added a biscotti which was a nice touch. I'll probably come back to this place, but only for the gelato - will be going to Panna, right next door for actual food.

Spizzigo has the potential for a much higher star rating. It has a large variety of tasty coal fired pizzas, salads and gelato. Parking is plentiful in a shopping plaza. It's next to a Spanish club, making it perfect to carb up after happy hour. But a few key factors hold it back. I stopped by after attending the aforementioned club for a hearty comfort Italian meal and was ready to give it at least 4 stars! The bruschetta was served on four sizeable baguette pieces with a good drizzle of tomatoes and an original presentation of melted mozzarella cheese on a bed of fresh greens. I did have to ask a couple of times for the balsamic vinegar, even though the dinner crowd was thinning out. Next up was a large Caprese salad - again fresh ingredients, nice presentation. The waitress stopped by and I told her I was almost ready for my personal pizza. That's were the delay started. I had to ask at least 3 times for my pizza to be brought to me. I wasn't going to be trashy and grab it from the kitchen counter even though I could see it from my table. Yes, that my pizza sat there awhile after being brought out of the oven. Still it was tasty and arsty, with canned corn added to the toppings of Hawaiian pizza. The wait did zap some of the crispiness of it adding to another brief wait to get utensils. Another wait (and two reminders) were needed to get my coffee, which was more espresso than the requested latte but oh well...

I LOVED their food. The pizza was delicious, and the pasta even more. Was really enjoying everything. The service was a little slow though... But will def. come back again.

I had there pepperoni pizza and it was delicious . If you've had Steve's pizza its similar . I really enjoyed the ambience very low key and decor is classy . The only reason I gave it a four star was because the girl taking the order seemed very disinterested in being there and unfriendly plus the price is a little on the high side other than that great food .

$17.77 for tortellini?!? The menu says $13.50 but they basically charged me like $4.00 bc i wanted pesto sauce instead of the sauce it comes with. Ridiculous let me tell you, especially bc it's enough pasta to fit in one hand. Oh and their tortellini comes in a ravioli shell instead of the tortellini shell shape like other restaurants, which isn't really a big deal but then it should just be called ravioli with ricotta cheese. If you want pasta don't come here go to Mozzarella on 79th AVE and 36th ST. They give you a LARGE portion of whatever pasta and don't charge you for choosing a different sauce and it comes with a salad and bread for like $15. If you come here, stick to salad and pizza. The ravioli's (bc i refuse to call them tortellini) tasted really good though, aside from the negatives I ranted about above. This was a pick up order, I can't say if they're service is good or not.

Been there twice and I think it's a definite weekly go to. We gorgeg on the bruschetta, two pizzas, one pasta dish and gelato. Always have pizza to take home (we plan) Love the pasta carbonara (is it possible to have too much pancetta) and we had a seafood risotto (no scallops and too much calamari - another problem). Pistachio gelato. Okay, maybe I'll back again this week.

  • Lucy P.

I must admit I've only been here recently for the gelato but it's so good I needed to write a review on it. They have at least 15 different flavors and they are all delicious. The gelato is so creamy and extremely full of flavor. From what I remember the food here is good, especially the pizza. Since I haven't say down to eat here in a while I'm giving it 3 stars based on the amazingness of the gelato. (Which is by the way the only place in Doral you can find authentic Gelato)

  • Valerio B.

I come to Spizzigo for pizza. And I've come a lot. I drive about 5 minutes of where I live, sit outside (not always happy for the music), order a Margherita pizza and a San Benedetto sparkling water. Period. Outside there are about 15 small wooden tables and an inmense green beach umbrella, I like more here than inside. As you enter, there are about 12 gelato flavors welcoming you. And the remarkable thing is a large wood-fired oven almost at the back. I warn you though, regardless I love trying new dishes, I've only had pizza here before. I hope you like it!

I ordered the Hawaiian pizza and a side order of calamari. I immediately had a reaction as Robert Irvine from restaurant impossible would. the calamari had no taste, were soggy and the marinara sauce provided was the equivalent of one table spoon. I paid $12.50 pizza (only 4 slices) and arrived cold. Seriously this is extremely shameful for such a restaurant to provide such service to its clients especially a first time one. The food arrived 10 minutes after I ordered it, which makes you think that they just threw it in a box with no consideration. Also the top it off the box was dirty. For an order that topped $30 I don't know how a business can treat its customer like this. I guess this is what I expected for not ordering from my usual Pizza restaurant. I would avoid this place or look further before ordering.

If you really want to know why i rated this particular reastaurant a 5 star is because they diserve it. The one thing i liked the most is that is their customer service attention and detail questions toward the individual calling to olace an order. Food was great my wife had a fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp, notbto much cream pasta was not over cooked, shrimp was made to perfection, me personally i had a salmon Alfredo also not to much cream basically just right. Deliverybtime was as promised 30 min and the food was still warm. Keep up the good work guys and management is also to be thanked because of their training.

I love this place. Their pizzas are delicious and their salads too. Place is quiet and peaceful, which makes it different in Doral with the craziness. I recommend it.

  • David G.

Slow service. Guys that ordered pizza received 10 minutes before the people that ordered pasta dishes. Pizza was bland. Pasta dished were flavorful but very small and did not come with a salad, just a basket of cold bread slices for the table. Prices are way high for quality and quantity of food. A can of coke was $2.75 and 1 person requested water and they charged him $3.00 for a bottle. So a quick Italian lunch cost $20.00 a person and everyone left hungry. Never coming here again.

  • Veronica F.

the service was very bad, the entry came with the main course, the drinks took forever, I will not be returning. Don't recommend :-(

  • Millissa S.

Okay so this place is close to where I live, one star. Parking is terrible, you have to ask security to move a sign blocking the spots. The menu is terrible, they have multiple choices at different prices, the same ingredients they just typed them in a different order and charge 2.00 more. The pizzas are all predetermined toppings, so say you want sausage instead of ham... That's 2.00 more dollars... People it's not in addition too.., it's instead off! Last visit here.

Went for lunch to visit friends. Had two of their carpaccio (delicious super fresh), arancini (super delicious) and calzone (very good also). My wife had their salad (which she enjoyed great). For dessert their homemade gelatos (tried cookies and cream, chocolate, coffee and vanilla) which were delicious and creamy. Would hands down come back again. Maybe next time we will visit their higher end sister restaurant next door!

  • Lacey C.

I never liked Italian food until I went to Italy. For me, unless it's exceptional, I'd much rather order a salad than chow down on sub-par pasta. Yuck. But Spizzigo does NOT dissapoint. Once I saw they had arancini, I knew we were somewhere legit. I had the penne with fresh tomato sauce and spicy Italian sausage. The pasta was perfectly cooked and the sauce was complex and tasty. The panini my husband ordered looked glorious... as did all of the food around us. We will definitely return--next time for dinner and desert. And save room for espresso! It's the real Italian deal!

    (4)
  • Adalberto M.

Decent surprise! First, the place looks like a traditional pizzeria with panini's. I wanted to order a slice, but guess what - no slices. All pizzas are made as shared pizzas (four slices). So Panini it was. Prosciutto with Monzerrella Panini that brought a side salad. $13.95. It was good, but found pricing to be a bit to steep for bread, sliced ham and cold cheese. I debated 2 to 3 stars, 2.5 would be the suitable rating, but since the service was good it's A-OK.

  • Noe N.

Nice spot for lunch. We had the Marguerite pizza and the Hawaiian pizza. Both were excellent. These are very thin crust pizzas, so although they say one pizza feeds two, it doesn't unless you eat like a bird. The sauce is very fresh and the cheese is too. The crust is thin and crispy. We also had the fried dough as an appetizer and that was good too. The lasagna was a hearty portion, loaded with meat and very flavorful. The restaurant itself is very nice with a casual vibe. I don't give it 5 stars simply because the pizza is a bit overpriced.

    (4)
  • Aline C.

This place has the potential to have a higher rating because the pizza is good, actually very good. But the service is close to non existent. I've been there a few times with friends for happy hour, most of the nights there was only one lady to attend the tables and she is slow. I always have to stand up to grab things, like plates for example, because she brought the pizza but we had nothing on the table, no silverware and no plates. She takes a while to acknowledge your presence, so you have to wave at her for about 5 min before she stops by. The other day I was served wine on a pretty dirty glass, and had things floating on my drink. I also saw a roach in the bathroom. So you might ask why do we still come here? Again, the pizza is very tasty, we meet once a week at this plaza for other activities and there is a great lack of good alternatives in this area.

  • Frank W.

I had the lunch special which consisted of a cheese pizza, lentil soup, and a salad. The salad was okay, just some lettuce and arugula with a tomato that still had the rind in it and no dressing. The lentil soup literally looked like wet dirt and had no taste at all. The pizza was basically a lot of bread, a little tomato sauce and some cheese. The service wasn't good. We sat down and it took about 15 minutes to get water even though the restaurant wasn't busy. Also the restaurant smelled like a campfire due to the pizza oven, so we ended up leaving out table inside to sit outside. Overall this place is your typical bad doral restaurant and I wouldn't go back even for free food.

  • Alex B.

This place was pretty good! The service was great, fast & friendly! Food ordered: Bruschetta mista - was ok, average. Arancini - rice balls stuffed with meat & cheese - OMG very good. Panino prosciutto - was very good, the prosciutto was very lean not to much fat and not greasy. The bake there own bread so it comes out really nice and warm. The only problem, it was a bit dry so ask for some extra basil & olive oil. Besides that excellent! Biancaneve pizze - a thin crispy pizza with mozzarella, mascarpone, mushrooms, ham & truffle oil. OMG it was great! The truffle oil is what makes it! A must try! The gelato was also very good.

Fabulous brick oven pizza. The carpaccio is really good and they gave great gelato foe dessert. The place is not fancy but the pizza is really amazing. For Brazilians craving a taste from home they have Catupiry cheese!!

hidden gem! felt like I was back in Italy! best pizza in Miami. during our visit we had: bandiera # 22 pizza bean and pasta soup insalata gran sabana panino prosciutto and mozzarella the pizza had ricotta cheese on it, tasted so fresh, beautiful presentation. it is wood fired oven pizza, very similar to what I had in naples, Italy. this is one of the few pizza crusts I had outside of NY that actually tasted right and flavorful, new Yorkers, you know what im talking about. NY has some of the best baked goods thanks to our tasty tap water. the soup was deliciously homemade and not overly salted like many soups fall victim to. the salad was beautifully piled high with mixed greens granny smith apples and melted brie cheese. large portion! the Panini was large with a thick slice of fresh mozzarella. the bread wasn't thin with the grill marks like I was expecting, the hero size bread was much appreciated! Doral is a sea of chain restaurants. frankly I hate chains, they feed you frozen food and give you stomach aches. support your local mom and pop restaurant like Spizzigo, the food is fresh and delicious and goes down nicely!

Int he mood for italian, drove by and stopped in. Ordered the fried mozzarella and a chicken pesto panini. The fried mozzarella was not very good and when i went to eat my panini, a small bug came out from under it, crawled around my plate and onto the salad. I called the waitress over, her response was simply "oh my godm should i get you another one?" Needless to say, I DID NOT want anthing from there. She brought me my bill, you'd think they would've comp'd the appetizer since there was a bug in my food and i had to leave but no, they didnt. I paid and got out of there. I AM NOT GOING BACK.

Was at the hotel next door and went for a walk finding this yummy place! Amazing fettuccine Alfredo and their salads are superb. Wish I had more time here to eat their again. I recommend their marinated eggplant salad. It wasn't what i excepted but the eggplant and mozzarella were perfect together.

Today I stopped in for lunch with co-workers as we were looking for a place in the immediate area and have one person who is a very picky eater. He likes pizza so the sign for pizza at Spizzigo caught his attention and in we went. The restaurant looks nice, you can choose to sit in the shady outdoor patio or inside the clean, modern dining area. We sat inside and were greeted promptly with menus and offered drinks. Two of us asked for water which turned out to be bottled Aquafina water at a charge. If you're going to charge for water at least get a decent brand of bottled water, Aquafina tastes like tap water. Our order was simple, a plain cheese pizza for Mr. Picky, a chicken cesar salad for me, and a Fettuccini Alfredo for the third. The order came out super quick, too quick it seemed. The pizza was not cooked through, although Mr. Picky liked it, it was not ok. There was absolutely no flavor whatsoever, the cheese didn't even taste like anything. My Cesar was ok, nothing special at all but ok and same for the fettuccini. We each spent about $15 once you add in the waters which seemed like highway robbery for crappy food. I would not recommend this place based on today's experience unless you like bland over priced food.

This is a great place to grab a quick cheap bite that isn't fast food. They're salads are delicious and os are their Paninis. I haven't tried their pizza but I hear it's good. Their gelato gets a lot of attention, but I'm not that big of a fan of it. I think it could be better.

I stopped in there only for gelato. Not a friendly welcome but the chocolate almond gelato was delicious and creamy. soooo good. shared a small with my husband which was enough and cost was $4.75. i will return to try their food. nice casual atmosphere

This is a cute little place to eat. Sometimes they have a white pizza on their specials that is to die for - it's brie with pears and honey is drizzled on it! I also really like their pear salad as well. I've never had a bad meal here, everything I've tried has been good. It's also pretty casual (I don't know why it says formal attire up there? it's clearly a mistake...) and I've never had to wait for a table, so that's always a plus!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
