Went here because I was looking for good, fresh, seafood since with no frills to satisfy that craving that appears to be hard to find in South Florida. The raves and high ratings got me curious so I thought I would drive by, have a look at their fish market, and then decide if I want to give it a try. The location is working class latin americans and will repell tourists so that is a major plus. The fish in the market looked good and the counter menu looked good and resonably priced for the fresh fish on offer. I decided to try the fired shrimp. The counter servers were very nice though spoke little to no english. Ordered and paid and waited a short 10mins or so and was givien my order. Off of the counter are about 8 tables to sit and chow down al fresco. I opened the container with my food and popped a shrimp into my mouth and was in heaven. This was what I have been searching for in So.Fla. I have been back about 10 times since and have not been disappointed on any of my choices. Unlike La Camaronera which is a rip-off!! Note: just once i tried to take away with about 20min travel time and the fried items were not as crunchy as when I ate it right away at their location.

Fresh seafood at this market. This is our go to place when we're making a seafood feast at home. The staff is very friendly and the prices are affordable. Market price is spot on and the freshness is to par w price.

Fresh-catch, fried whole fish for $14.50?? That's a steal!! Fried jumbo shrimp is also very good. Will definitely be back to try other menu items.

Solid Five Stars. It is firstly a fish market (as the name implies) with a restaurant serving the fresh catches of the day. What La Camaronera used to be before it turned into a tourist attraction. No danger of that happening here as the location pretty well rules that out, & it is way out of the way of yuppiedom, it's not like they need the business. I buy my fish here as I live in the neighborhood & have eaten here many times. Was here again on a Tuesday afternoon for lunch, & even during the weekdays this place is mobbed. I stood @ the counter & ate my ample lunch which consisted of the Jumbo Shrimp creole, comes with tostones, salad, rice & beans & there is enough creole sauce to dip all of your tostones in it and savor. Mind blowing! 99% locals here a smattering of Haitian, Cuban, Puerto Rican, Domincanos, & Allapattah locals. A word to the curiosity seekers it is an outdoor restaurant like you would find in a "pulga" or flea market in Latin America, no AC, the occasional fly (you are outside, and there is seafood), styrofoam plates & plasticware....so leave the Gucci purse at home, no one cares. You will get the freshest seafood @ the best price, no frills or fluff, no South Beach or Brickell drama here. See pics.

My mom found this neat gem years ago. Its in a tricky neighborhood and if she has never found it I might not venture here for seafood. But this place has amazing food and everything is fresh and done at the moment. Their seafood rice is also really unique, I haven't had anything like it. Their breaded fish is finger licking good! It does not contain any bones so you don't have to worry about accidentally stabbing yourself. The fried fish eggs are also absolutely amazing. I would never consider eating before but once I had it I was in love. Also I don't usually comment on whie rice because places don't usually screw up on that but this place left a craving that it unexplainable. I can't wait to order from this place again. A definite unique find with the Miamian Three B's in mind. (Bueno, Bonito y Barrato!)

I didn't intend to come here after seeing the "seafood market" sign with a good crowd of people having a late lunch in the weekend, I knew I had to drive back to visit. And visit, I did, in this little Dominican area of Allapattah where the small-town environs have that strong Latin American look and vibe. And this ramshackle shack fits right in, hawking seafood dishes outside like fish and shrimp empanadas, pan con minuta fish sandwich, and fried shrimp to be enjoyed and eaten outdoors in this place. And if you step in through the wrought-iron gate with paint peeling off, you'll see a pretty sizable seafood market selling snapper, shrimp, conch, hogfish, mullets, and tilapia at a good price. As for the price, they were comparable to American supermarkets when there's a sale on seafood. But here, no sales are needed. And they'll clean the fresh fish out for you (tip encouraged). But do come early - they do run out of their stock fast, as this place seems to be popular with fish-buyers in the know. When I came in the early afternoon, they had already run out of the empanadas and the stock of fish were low. For the locals who really have seen Miami grow through the years, they may appreciate this place as it revokes an image of the well-known La Camaronera before they became commercialized through tv. This place is Latin old-school in an area that hasn't seen the gentrification yet that seem to have rapidly changed the rest of Miami. For a break into the simple past, this is a nice find.

Nice place to have shrimp and conch fries ($13 for each), red spanner steak, and mixed ceviche($6). All employers are nice and you can also buy seafoods from key west

The word is fresh. As you walk through the thick plastic dividers you are greeted with the smell of nothing. No strong smells or chemicals, just a smorgasbord of fresh seafood at competitive prices. The fish come whole and they have a station where you can have it cleaned to your liking. The market moves at a fast pace and the service is efficient. This market has a side window serving food along with tables under a blue awning. The menu is printed right above the window in english and in spanish along with a chalkboard on the side with their daily catches, The service on this side is also fast. When I got there, there was a considerable line. That in conjunction with the fact that we were outside in the august heat almost made me turn around. I quickly learned that there was no need to worry. These ladies do not mess around and you'd better be ready with your order by the time you get to the front of the line. They do an amazing job and keep the service moving at an impressive pace. On this outing I ordered the special of the day which was the hogfish. This is my favorite type of fish to get down in the keys. I also learned that hogfish in spanish is called "pez perro" which doesn't make much sense. The literal translation is pez puerco, cerdo or cochino which also can be interpreted as "dirty fish" in some cultures. But I digress. The fish was prepared fried which gave it an excellent flaky inside with a seared outside. You can order it with rice and beans or with salad and tostones. This is an excellent find for when I am craving island seafood since they get their fish daily from the keys. Seating is outside so if you are heat sensitive, it may be more prudent to come during the cooler months or just get the order to go.
