Worst ceviche ever, and the jalea don't even think of ordering it, the rotisserie chicken was cold and not fresh, DON'T RECOMMEND THE PLACE AT ALL. What a disappoinment!!!!!

Peruvian food is simplistic yet sophisticated in flavor. And you may think you need to visit a fancy restaurant that promises the like but you don't. Situated in a strip mall in Westchester is the antithesis of snooty fanciness. The accommodations are humble yet clean. The ceviches are fresh and traditional and there are plenty to choose from. Both times I went I've ordered the ceviche and it was fresh, uncomplicated in it's delivery but complex in flavor. You can find all the Peruvian classics here prepared how it would be at your Peruvian friend's house, simple and rustic- as it should be.

HORRIBLE experience ordered rotisserie chicken, the waitress said it would take 30 minutes to cook, waited Around half hour, she comes back and said that there was a mix-up with the order, and there was no chicken left, asked for a manager who's name was JOSE, who never came out to apologize or acknowledge us for our waisted time . He did however have the audacity to charge for two sodas that we ordered while waiting for the absent chicken.. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!

This place used to be called El Pollon but today I realized the name has changed....I guess I haven't visited in awhile. But anyways, inside it looks pretty much the same, I think the staff is even the same. This is a very unpretentious place, picture menu in the wall, very cheap prices. Now ,most people come here for the rotisserie chicken. This time we ordered jalea (fried seafood) comes with fried yuca and canchita (peruvian corn). Even though it was supposed to be 1/2 jalea, the plate was huge!! I thought the waitress had made a mistake and brought out the entire one. Overall, the service was great and so was the taste of food. Nice selection of Donofrio ice cream, my fave!

The chicken. Often known as the universal meat, (e.g. "it tastes like chicken") it is the benchmark to which other white meats are compared. However, I have recently found that Peruvian rotisserie chicken adds a little zing to the generic tasting fowl. In fact, I am sure there is some sort of drug in the food, because I am hooked and lately cannot get enough of the stuff. Hence, my reason that I jammed on the brakes and made a u-turn into this restaurant's shopping center when I drove by today. Peru Criollo is a modestly decorated establishment, with (what I presume to be ) Peruvian music videos playing on several TV screens. Behind the counter are pictures of the many dishes PC's offer. Nothing fancy, but that is made up for by the tasty food and the very kind service (especially to those of us that are Spanish speaking challenged) from the waitress who took my order . With some hand gestures, pointing, and my lame attempt at the Spanish language I ordered the Rotisserie Chicken, with rice and tostones and a chicken tamale to start. The tamale was delicious, served on a banana leaf, with red onions and sprigs of cilantro and a really awesome green sauce. The tamale was yummy and stuffed with chicken, olives and spices. The Chicken was brought out almost immediately after I polished off the tamale. I opted to pay the extra $.50 for the white meat and the quarter chicken portion was very generous and I could not even finish my plate. My only complaint was with the tostones which were a little greasy----I don't think the oil was hot enough when they were put in. Other than that the food was really good. Lunch specials are offered at around $5. Dinner hovers around the $10 mark. Would definitely return if I am in the area.

There is something about Peruvian food that suggests comfort while at the same time excitement for your senses with exotic flavors, aromas and a riot of color. Peruvian food just makes me happy. Peru Criollo does that with just about any dish. But especially the Ceviche. And, of course, the Rotisserie chicken is what finger-lickin-good should really taste like. But they have a lot of other delectable goodies. Fortunately for me they are a few blocks from home, so when I get a craving for some REAL unpretentious food, they!re right down the road. The service is usually very good and quick. Just don't expect a fancy place. Come here hungry and for a few bucks you will leave happy.

Another stop on the Ceviche circuit. This version rates pretty good. A good sized serving of large pieces of fresh, firm white fish, instantly marinated upon order in the sauce of your choice. I like mine with aji amarillo. Comes with the typical sides. The wine quality was a bit of a let down since they were only providing single serving bottles of a very average at best, Chilean savignon blanc. Luckily the single servings were generous. Both times I have eaten here i was the only person on the dining room at lunch, Granted I was eating a bit late at around 2:00 pm but still? The prices were very reasonable. It looks like they are set up for quite a party at dinner with live music and possibly dancing.

This place may not look like it but it has great food and service. I went with a friend and was able to sample a good portion of the menu. It has plenty of authentic dishes. The ceviche mixto was awesome. I ordered it the spiciest and it did not disappoint. It has a large variety of seafood and I especially liked the octopus an calamari. The chicken tamale was very good and it had a unique flavor and texture. The tacu tacu was my favorite but I also loved that green sauce that came with the tamale (I put it on everything). Tacu Tacu is a crispy patty of rice and beans. Lomo was very juicy and tender and the other beef dishes made me curious to come back. There were pictures on the wall that helped while looking through the menu. I enjoyed the decor inside and the service was excellent. The waiter even let me sample the chiche when he noticed I was trying to choose a drink. I like that there are 3 peruvian beers to choose from and that the soft drink menu had many peruvian juices. It is cheaper than aromas and it has food that is just as good. I can't wait to take my parents there!

This place is really disappointing. I'm always looking for a good Peruvian restaurant and have not been disappointed until today. The only pro to this place is the amount of food, two people can eat from one entree. The con to this is the food is bland, no taste at all! Service really is bad! The waitress takes ur order walking away from the table. Forgets half of ur order of course since she is not hearing anything u r saying because again she is in a hurry to go I don't know where. Not that they were busy either. When I arrived there were only 3 other tables occupied. But none the less I would think that a little more attention to the customer will go a long way!!!!!!!! Customer service -10!!!!!!!
