This is my favorite Peruvian spot, but due to its increasing popularity, the customer service has suffered particularly on the weekends when it gets chaotic. My favorite dish here is Anticuchos con pancita - beef heart with tripe. It's my absolute favorite dish in the world.

Just had a Lomo saltado. Some places tend to cook the Lomo saltado pretty salty but this place was great. The attention is good also. It's right a corner so parking is not that bad. Will come back for some more different recipes

There are like 5 Peruvian restaurants within a 1/2 mile radius of Kendal Drive. The majority of them are good with the exception of Pietro Lounge (they're horrific) This was the only Peruvian restaurant that I hadn't tried mostly because of my horrible experience at Pietro's which is literally right next to The Bodega! It's a pretty big restaurant and they have a lot of servers. I was acknowledged immediately and my waitress Emily was great! I ordered my favorite Lomo Saltado which was delicious! Nice size portions and a very fair price. The Chicha Morada was refreshing and also delicious. I see myself returning for more of their delicious food!

What can I say? This is one of my favorite Peruvian spots in all of Miami. Why am I so fond of it, one might ask: Well, primarily because the food is phenomenally delicious and perhaps the most authentic Peruvian one can find in the greater Miami metro region. Yes, it's way out in the West Kendall suburbs, but it's totally worth the commute. Secondly, and nearly as important as the quality of the food, is the lack of pretentiousness of this locale. It's indeed in a very nondescript suburban strip mall. When one enters, one finds a large dining area with extremely simple tables and chairs. This place isn't about projecting a particular image of authentic, delicious Peruvian food -- it doesn't need to. La Bodega simply is authentic, delicious Peruvian food. I've had two different ceviches there on at least three separate occassions, and each one has been extremely fresh and perfectly seasoned with the right hints of spices and flavor. In truth, the service there is either hit or miss, but for the most part all the waitresses are extremely attentive, friendly, and eager to please. The Pisco Sours offered are absolutely delicious and served chilled. The only disappointing experience I've had there is when I decided to try to buy a bottle of Pisco (liquor) directly from La Bodega's little dry goods area They were going to charge me $40 for a bottle that at any liquor store costs only $20. In any case, the food there is amazing, the service is warm and friendly, and the overall ambiance is unpretentious, exactly what a place focused on a quality product, not a illusory image, should be about.

One of the best Peruvian food restaurants in Miami. Authentic, generous portions, friendly staff. Karaoke on Friday and Saturday nights. I always stop here during trips to Miami.

While entering this place, you get a wide open feel to the restaurant. My wife ordered the parrillada platter, the dish was very tasty with all peruvian flavors and odors, sadly it seems that the plate must of sat for a while as it did not come out piping hot as you would want it to. The rest of the food was good, not great. Service was mediocre at best, not too much attention to the guest was given, and in my book thats unacceptable. A 15% tip is included in the bill, so it seems waitresses dont feel the need to show the extra attention. Overall, the food was good, although the lack of service and organization deters me not to come back.

I used to like this place a lot and never had a problem before, until today. I placed and order by phone . I waited 1 1/2 hours for my food. While I was waiting this lady asked to speak with the owner . She was eating a ceviche and almost swallowed a metal wire. She was still holding the wire !!! I was standing next to her and couldn't believe it . She spoke to the owner and I also asked him discretely to not to create more fuzz what was going on with my order . This is exactly what he answer : how is that people don't complain when you go to "Macarroni and grill or Denny's " vienen aca a joder . I was in shock So I asked : Are you serious ? Yes I am ! And he walked away. Really sad how you treat your clientele when you are under pressure .

The food and service were good. The price/food relation was OK... I try aji de gallina or lomo saltado, both were good.. However, i dont like the ambience.. The music was so loud.

A restaurant with a Peruvian minimarket inside. Great corvina ceviche, huge portion for $20.00. More expensive than El Chalan. No wine list.

Lived in Kendall for many years and have seen this restaurant going thru different managements.. Must say the current one have done an outstanding job..everything I ordered here is good and it has a home made food taste.. Really like it.. Nothing fancy but good quality food, well served at an excellent price... Highly recommended!!!!

Delicious little (quite large actually) Peruvian neighborhood joint. It's tucked away in an expansive shopping center just off Kendall and 137th ave. These folks are serious about the food. The store front is a market with all kinds of Peruvian ingredients from sauces to sweets. Ingredient for classic Peruvian dishes all around. Directly next yo the shelves are tables and chairs for the full service restaraunt. This place looks like the kind of place your grandma would have opened to finally fulfill her children's dreams to eat her food regularly.

Food was really good. It had a home made taste to it. Portions are huge. The place could use a little improvement. service was great.

Pro: - Great ceviche - the fried ceviche is a must - lots of typical Peruvian dishes on the menu Con: - nothing fancy about the place - owner isn't very friendly - service is very slow

Food is pretty good, a bit pricey. They NEVER open on time, I come on the weekends to get breakfast before work, the one employee they have aside from the cooks walks in at 8:05 with nothing ready to go, it's 8:20 am now and the doors are still locked when they are supposed to be open at 8:00 am.

I come to this restaurant very often. and honestly it never disappoints. I was there during a weeknight with some friends and we got great service. our food came out fast our water was refilled constantly and are very nice waitress came the check on us. Peruvian is my favorite food so I have probably been to every Peruvian restaurant within a 50 mile radius I'll take the bodega always. the food is really tasty seafood is fresh hot sauces are always available desserts are really good. the prices have increased over the past year but seafood and fish in general have increased in price everywhere. the place is usually clean, however I would suggest an upgrade to the bathrooms, they are starting to show their age

This place was a pleasant surprise. I was introduced to it by my parents and glad they did. The food is very good and the portions are huge. They have a very big menu so there is lots to choose from. I had the churrasco prober with white rice maduros and fries. It was very good cook exactly how I asked. The only reason why I did not give this place 4 stars is because it's sort a store at the same time.

I really liked the variety of good, and the excellent service I received while eating at this lovely Peruvian restaurant. Definetly worth stopping by :)

  • Andy S.

This place was average. And judging by the size of the entrées it felt pricey. Oh, and 15% is already included so there's no way to reflect your satisfaction on the bill. And the entrées where not brought to the table at the same time, not even close. I'm not going back.

La Bodega is a hit or miss restaurant, where you mostly miss. It is always been a grocery shop where you could get some typical Peruvian food not available at any other restaurant. The food is decent with ample room for improvement. If you are Peruvian and are looking for a specific dish, La Bodega probably makes it. The problem is they don't make it good. La Bodega recently experienced an economic boom in itself. They expanded their dining room by tearing down the wall that separated them from the office next door. But a couple of owners later, the wall came back up, and La Bodega is swimming in deep water. The food that was acceptable at one point is back to being mediocre. Unfortunately, you still find the more obscure dishes at this place, and maybe that is why they are still standing. Add to that the grocery store, and that may explain it all. If you are looking for Peruvian spices and products, La Bodega has it, at a premium. If you are looking for a great dining experience, go elsewhere.

La Bodega has a large variety of dishes on its menu. however I do prefer restaurant with short variety but great. Olluquito taste pretty much lake a lomo saltado. Big Papa rellena has very litte ground meat. The disgusting part was the fat men which i believe is the boss-owner? yelled at his employees with a vulgar language. The floor has to much mistolin it is slippery and 'smelly'.

  • Freya P.

Although I had eaten here once before and it was average, this time really sealed the deal for me. The service was horrible, took 20 minutes just for water, the churrasco had no flavor (tasted like a grill), rice was greasy and hard, tostones were burned, what can I say, l will not go back there again. Oh and they add a 15% gratuity to your bill.

First time here i didn't like the service. This time its improved three fold. Looks clean. And renovated. Better service. As always great food.

Disappointed for a taste of Peru. My ceviche was $18 and didn't feel worth that amount. The service was far from great. Maybe it was because gratuity was included, but our server Ada was lazy and inattentive. After waiting for 20 mins for a refill on my water, I stopped another server to ask. Finally, when receiving my delayed check, she asked me for another card because "the machine" wasn't working for Amex. After asking her to try that card first, I saw she didn't even try to swipe it quickly coming back for a different tender type, as if they didn't want to pay the Amex authorization fee. Not a good experience after spending $70 (cash) on a subpar meal for two. Never going back to that hole in the wall.

I'm a Peruvian food addict and think the food at this place is so underrated! Their ceviche is top notch! I tried their pisco sour last week and thought it was great! I've had a few of their dishes and have never been disappointed. Highly recommend!

If I could give this restaurant a 0 I would! Horrible experience. Went in there to pick up a few desserts and to my surprise when I went home some of it even had mold! I rushed back to return it and to let them know they shouldn't be serving stuff like that (as we all know this goes against health policies that should be followed). When I asked to speak to the owner so I can let him know he was extremely rude and asked what I wanted him to do in a rude manner. He said "Someone already apologized to you, do you want me to call the baker"? The cashier had said sorry but again this was not her fault. The owner also claimed to having received the dessert with mold on it and how he had only had it for 2 days. I don't know about you but most people know mold doesn't just grow on something in a 2 day period. Next time going there just be aware that if you encounter a problem don't expect much from the owner himself.

the food never disappoints, the wait was a bit much but I sympathize because the restaurant was packed & they only had 2 waitresses that were running around all night.

I've been coming to this place since I was a kid. They used to have fresh chicha-not anymore so that's a con (although they have the boxed stuff). However, that being said, the quality of their food has not changed. They still have amazing seafood chaufa. It's very likely the best in Kendall. I got heartburn but it was soooo worth it!!

Not my first time but first time i actually take the time to eat there. I took their churrasco and rice (classic... i know) and i really loved it, perfectly cooked, no disgusting fat around the meat... rice was pretty good and the chicha morada is delicious !! It's a nice little place, not too fan about the music they play but well... nothing is perfect ! Will definitely go back !

This is the one of the most traditional Peruvian Restaurants in Miami. You don't go there for the decoration of the great service (which is ok): you go there because of the food. Actually, La Bodega is not the best for Ceviche, but they offer amazing dishes like "Tallarines Verdes con Bistek" (Spinach Spaghetti with meat), which is my favorite one. They have Seafood, Peruvian desserts, Peruvian drinks (like 'Chicha Morada', made with purple corn). You can also get Peruvian traditional breakfasts during the weekends (known as "Desayuno Lurin). For me is worth it to drive across Miami to get some Peruvian food at La Bodega.

I love Peruvian food, so when they told me about this place I was excited. However, when I visited this past weekend I was rather disappointed. It's a restaurant/supermarket, the supermarket part is not really that impressive just a couple of shelves on the wall with some products. The restaurant part was rather old looking, not updated, the music/videos were on too loud for one to have a conversation. The food was ok and rather expensive, I was expecting the food to be more reasonably priced because of the looks and atmosphere. Not so. The service not that great. We ordered 2 kids meals and 2 appetizers, and it took a while for us to get our food. While others who came in after us got their food right away. My daughter spilled her water all over herself and the floor etc ( because they do not have lids for their drinks) adn the waitress didnt even bother to help clean up. She brought a roll of paper towels and left it on the table. I won't be going back to this place.

This place has amazing Ceviche which is served in generous portions and all the ingredients taste so fresh! The service is great too! Everybody's friendly and attentive. Highly recommended! The only reason I take a star off is because the place is really small and you can somewhat feel confined. Also, because it can be decorated way nicer.

This place used to have a very special spot in my heart because it was the first place I'd ever eaten ceviche. When I initially had it here, I fell in love. I didn't even care that the waitresses would give me a shank eye because I'd go in there yapping away in English, sipping away at chicha morada, and asking for extra corn nuts. I hadn't eaten here for a while, but because I was in the neighborhood recently, I decided to swing in and they really spruced up the joint. It's still a little rinky-drink looking, one of those market/cafe type places where you're dining next to a bag of rice, but they had a flat screen TV, spiffier menus, nicer plating, and a big banner boasting their kickass ceviche. Unfortunately, I think they swapped style for substance here. It looks nicer inside but the food' gone downhill. My ceviche was, well, kind of gross, put together sloppily, some chunks were undercooked other pieces hard as rocks with a weird texture. They got lazy with the preparations as well and all they had mixed in with the seafood were sad strings of red onions, which is kind of boring. And the whole dish was lacking that fresh citrus flavor. My boyfriend got a sloppy mess of lomo saltado with soggy, cold fries and flavoring that reeked of an amateur in the spice department. It was just all kinds of wrong. I totally felt gypped afterwards and probably will never come back. Which leaves a little hole en mi corazon.

Great for quick dishes and mainly dessert. Haven't tried eating in there but they have lots of tables. Their menu can be a bit $$$. They are always quick with service and when getting take out, if they don't have it available you can usually wait a couple of minutes while they make a fresh bash for you.

Nice portions, priced accordingly, great taste, my favorite: Parihuela (Seafood Soup) and Picarones. I have been a more "fancy" Peruvian restaurants in Coral Gables and believe me nothing compare to La Bodega, the place may not be as luxury but who cares when you can get a great taste and friendly atmosphere

I had ceviche mixto for about 14$. It was a little too hot but good. Portion was big. Service was fast, friendly. I like the tables which were nice and big.

If you're a fan of ceviche, you need to try this place. This is one of those cliche places that you go to just for the food, not the decorum since it doubles as a grocery store & i think on certain nights it they may even have karaoke. Not really my style but the ceviche is one of the best i've had so i keep coming back. The ceviche is super fresh, inexpensive and the serving size is huge, i don't think i've ever been able to eat my whole plate. My favorite is the mixto: fresh fish, shrimp, octopus, and squid marinated in lime juice and smothered in red onions and cilantro. It's served with a slice of sweet potato and Peruvian corn. As an appetizer, i always get papa a la huancaina, a traditional peruvian dish, which consists of sliced potatoes covered in a spicy cheese sauce that has such a fresh and light taste to it, you can eat the whole dish all by yourself. The service is sometimes a bit slow but they are super nice and actually really helpful in recommending dishes. I've only tried the ceviche and I definitely recommend it but if your not a ceviche fan they also have other plates and have heard that the lomo saltado is great and also very inexpensive.

Huge place inside and on weekend nights they have Peruvian musicians playing or games on their HD TV. Love the food, but our favorite are the shredded chicken sandwiches "Sanguchitos de pollo" with home made mayo and aji. Yum!

i am saddened to see how this place has decayed in the 2 years that my wife and have been a monthly regular. We arrived Sunday 7/13 at 630. I have to think that we were the first customers ever of the young man that was our waiter. There is a first time for everyone - but the madam that appeared to be a supervisor could have said something. The pisco sour was kinda sweet - I believe sour should be mostly sour. It did not help that it was 1/3 drink and 2/3 blender foam. The fish ceviche was OK whereas it used to be the best in Miami. Also, the ceviche was formerly served with marinated onion slices. and now just plain onion. The flavored onions were served with the other entrée, and they were great. The other entrée was grilled fish filet. I requested quinoa instead of rice as the side order - after all quinoa is a major favorite and export of Peru (BTW the same is true of asparagus but LB does not offer it). The fish was 3-star. The quinoa was 5-star and was a huge portion. The bill charged $10 for the pisco that was $7 on the menu. The substitution of the quinoa added $6 to the bill. It was worth it, its just that it was a surprise. I did not complain because we were waitered so poorly that we just wanted out. The icing - the heavyset gentleman at the cashier acknowledged us on the way out like he would rather be somewhere else. LB used to be one of our favorites.

I would of easily and happily given this place 5 stars if the service was better, but its bad. The waitress sucked and was only worried about gossiping about her new uniform and making sure she looked pretty, she did. Aside from her the food and the restaurant was great! The food came super fast and my meal was huge and flavorful. I have never had an amazing lomo saltado like that, so much meat! My friend had the ceviche. He is vegetarian so has this often. He loved it, said is one of the best ceviches he has ever had. The place has this "bodega" feel too it. You feel like your in Lima, Peru. Pretty neat! Prices are reasonable. Only thing they should work on is there service if they're going to charge you 15% gratuity

If you are peruvian, then u know what Desayuno Lurin is, and if you want to have it on a Sunday Morning then head to this place!. Desayuno Lurin is a breakfast from a part of Peru called Lurin. It consists of tamal, Fried pork, fried sweet potatotes, white bread and coffee. I know u might think..that's a lot for a breakfast and to be honest it is...actually this will fill you up until Dinner time!. Since I'm vegetarian, I only have the sweet potatoes and I ask for scrambled eggs , but for all of those who aren't , the Desayuno Lurin is a great option and the portions are huge! 2 people can easily share one dish. They have a full menu of Peruvian Dishes for lunch and Dinner and they carry a lot of peruvian products like Inca Kola and Donofrio ice cream! yummy!
