The food is great, but i think they need to work a little on their service, it seems the times when the place is a little packed it can become a longer wait, but overall the food is really good. I suggest it to anyone that enjoys great grilled chicken especially peruvian style. I love peruvian food and this place does the cuisine justice.

MANY, MANY TIMES and it's always the same, the staff is very dry, no urgency. There are 2 cash registers, there was no line so I walked up and just stood there neither of them even said 1 word to me till 5 mins once they finished stacking their receipts. I added a pollo a la brasa to an order I called in 5 mins earlier and I ended up waiting for 35 mins to get my food to go!!!! The only reason I return is because the chicken is so good but this place truly sucks.

Great Peruvian food! The staff is friendly and helpful, I'm not Peruvian thus a little help choosing good dishes is always great! Also, when you see Peruvians eating in a Peruvian restaurant then it is a good place!

I was a skeptic at first, but now I am a fan.... Big servings, excellent taste and reasonably priced! Highly recommend :-)

Continuing my quest of everything Peruvian I came across this place few years back. The rotisserie chicken is probably the best you will ever have and the prices are still amazing. This place is in my top 3 for the bird alone next to Pardos (Gables) and El Pollo Inka (Doral). Their huancaina sauce is perfectly gooey layered in tatoes or as side for fries and the Aji has that great spicy bite. These two are a perfect combo... one brings the heat while the other cools it down. Order an Inca cola and you are set.

Do you like.... Cheap? Protein goodness? Cheap? Great tasting food? If you answered yes to any above, then please stop what you're doing and visit this place pronto. And yes, cheap was repeated twice on purpose. A whole chicken (feeds about 4), 2 sides (rice, tostones, salad, fries, white beans etc.) and 2 sauces are all included for a mere $15. That's $3.75 a person. Can I get an Amen?! My parents and I loved the juicy chicken- yes, juicy. I know, freakin' amazing. The sides were good too but if you screw up rice and tostones, you should be out of business. BUT.... yes, there's a 'but'..... be prepared to wait a long time. You've been warned so don't complain later. We waited around 30 mins. for our food which was almost infuriating but given the fact that we went around 5:45pm on a week night, it should've been expected with everyone grabbing something on their way home. The staff was attentive and they were working as fast as they could so it's okay Tambo Grill. Just don't do that to me again. Thanks.

The best chicken I've had in Miami period. Chicken honestly isn't hard to cook well, but so many restaurants do it poorly. El Tambo does it perfectly with a slightly crispy rotisserie skin and juicy chicken. The plantains are done well also with just the right amount of caramelization. This would be one of my regular restaurants if not for the distance from my apartment :/ This is a delicious affordable option if you're in the area.

Two words, Peruvian Ceviche. I was on a tour of Latin Cuisine in Miami. My cousin Issey loves this place and swore by the ceviche. We called in an order on our way back to her house for pick up. Usually I love the Lomo Saltado when it comes to Peruvian, but I am a sucker for ceviche. We ordered several different types with fish, octopus and scallops, shrimp, etc. They served it with the large corn and ordered a side of tostones. It was delicious and inexpensive, we paid around $40 for dinner for 4 adults with leftovers. Mmm, ceviche.....

This place has some of the best rotisserie style chicken I've ever had. The rice has plenty of flavor and you get enough to feed a small country. I have been a few times and I have consistently stuck with the chicken I enjoy it so much.

This is my go to restaurant for Peruvian staples. It's hard to get the ingredients to make great Peruvian food at home but El Tambo Grill always delivers my Peruvian food fix. Unlike a lot of other Peruvian restaurants, Tambo is reasonably priced, too. You can get the best Pollo a la Brasa outside of Peru here. Definitely delicious. The Lomo Saltado is delicious, too

Okay food but service at the register was horrible! Standing in line waiting to order for 15 minutes while the lady was on the phone and after hanging up, she still doesn't attend me until after she is counting receipts! Very low class and I would never ever go back to this place!

This place does pollo a la brasa right - big portions of mouthwatering chicken that fall of the bone and well seasoned. The prices make this place a steal! The chicha is good but the maracuya is excellent!

Wow! My people make some damn good food! For years my mom had been bringing home chicken and arroz chaufa from this place and i had no idea where this place was. Fast forward some years and it's like I'm back home in Peru eating some pollo ala brasa! Nom nom nom is all i can say. Pollo tropical can just close up and so can most other lil chicken shacks out there. Nothing beats their amazing chicken. Juicy, tasty, big and delicious is how they do it at El Tambo Grill. Every time i have been there whether its early in the afternoon or 5 minutes before they close they are always busy. The portions are very generous so i recommend sharing their half chicken with some arroz chaufa. There are other plates than just chicken but i usually stick with the chicken. Come with an appetite because I am sure you will leave stuffed and satisfied!

Food was good but service at the register was horrible very unfriendly non attentive personnel they seemed bothered when asked about something on the menu being a first time guest did not feel warmth at all to the service

  • Karla S.

prices have increased since I first discovered this place, but the quality is as good as ever, if not better (did not think this was possible) a whole chicken, with 2 sides, 3 extra ajis and 1 large huancaina container comes out to about $23.. not bad at all!

  • Manny M.

The food isn't amazing, but it certainly does the trick. Price is a bit more than the value you get. The service could definitely use an upgrade, especially when it involves the gentleman who packages the food for you. I call him the Tartar Nazi (as he gives you an explicit NO when you ask for additional tartar). Here's a tip El Tambo... If a customer asks for 3 more tartar sauce packets. Give it to them. Would you rather lose customers instead (which is what you've lost with me and my family/friends in the area).

  • Karen G.

This food is delicious, only thing is that they don't give enough meat in lomo saltado which is my fave dish. The rotisserie chicken is the best around!

  • Vanessa S.

Chicken is probably the most ingested protein in the US, for this reason I usually avoid it. It's usually overcooked, bland and leaves a lot to be desired. That is, it was all those things before El Tambo Grill. Not your usual chicken shack, El Tambo is quite possibly the best chicken I have ever eaten! Slowly cooked it comes out hot, juicy and full of flavor. Pair that with the tasty Peruvian side dish options El Tambo is on point for anyone who needs a quick but delicious and did I mention cheap mid-week meal. Go there, really, there is nothing else to it.

Went to El Tambo Grill with some friends who recommended we try it. It was DELICIOUS! Great food, reasonable prices, and large portions. We ordered the rotisserie chicken and split it because we saw others who had ordered it and how big the portion was. It was really good! Our friends ordered the fried seafood platter (jalea?). Equally delicious! Also, love the green sauce that they serve with the chicken. Caution - it's spicier than it looks. Unfortunately, their food came out about 15mins after ours which was really disappointing. Other than that, we will definitely come back to El Tambo Grill!

If this review were about the food itself, there would be more little stars lit up in here. the experience is what knocked off those last two. The food is crazy good. I had a heaping plate of ceviche and it was incredible. My brother's lomo saltado was good, but his portion was not what either of us expected for the price. We had been warned about the poor service from friends who had eaten here before but we figured it couldn't be that bad. Maybe it's because we went on Sunday, but there were NO seats when we went. We stood around like a couple of creepers at a food court until some people stood up. No one was taking that table from us. I got my ceviche in under 15 minutes. My brother's food took over 50 minutes to come out. No joke. We noticed that all the orders coming out of the kitchen were to-go but barely any were dine in. They seem to give priority if you order on the phone. I did not appreciate that one bit. Just because you have awful, hypnotizing South American music videos from the 80s on tv does not mean we aren't noticing that our food is taking forever. If you want to eat from here, get it to go. You will just waste your time (and patience) with dining in.

The good thing about this place are the portions and the price; also the owner and staff all are nice. "The PG-13/R rated music videos" running are hilarious! I have been to many of the peruan places in town. Salmon Salmon is probably the best tasting but it has its down sides(price, size, parking); aromas del peru is good.. The menu here at TAMBO is huge; i decided to try the whole chicken with the Chaufa Rice. Im gonna have to say that I am not a fan of the two things. The chaufa rice had pieces of hot dog inside which was too strong a flavor for a chaufa so it overpowered everything else. Others have liked the seasoning on the whole chicken, but I did not find it so perfectly seasoned. I will give this place a try again because their menu is large and the prices are just; maybe I selected the wrong dish.

This is a second party review as husband is lazy & won't get his own yelp account. So this place was mentioned by family & a Peruvian friend... This is located right by the turnpike on 117th & sunset...the place is on a busy plaza. They have expanded but they are always busy so have patience if you are waiting for a pick up or ordered food to eat in. The people working at the place are mostly very nice, attentive... They basically will call out numbers in spanish and you go pick up your grub....kind of weird and reason why I took a star out. First of all this process doesn't work as it causes a crowd by the cash registers & the front of the place...kind of a bit of a chaos... Now to the food, great rotisseire chicken, awesome papa a la huancaina & chicha morada....if you haven't had this you have too, its a purple corn drink that its just sweet enough and so good for you. Love the sauce they give you for the chicken but as a vegetarian I use this for the potatoes or to dip this on anything, yummy Look forward to trying other veggie dishes myself and hubby will keep asking me to come back again & again, Good job Tambo!

So far this is the best chicken in sw miami/kendall. Some people may want faster service but remember this isn't fast food. The prices are also very affordable.

Sweet baby jesus! Hands down this is THE best place to get some rotisserie chicken! Its always juicy, tasty, and plentiful! My family and I have frequented this little place very often! The price is very reasonable for their portions. I've also had their lomo salteado which is strips of steak in a onion and tomato sauté served on top of fries who very excitedly soak of all the juicy deliciousness that settles on the bottom of your plate! I will warn you that the atmosphere is a little intense with the 1990's spanish music videos blaring and the multitude of people. The service isn't the nicest it kind of reminds me of the soup nazi from seinfeld, you kind of put up with it because the food is just that good! My recommendation is call in and take out! I enjoy it so much more in the comfort of my own home.

Best rotisserie chicken in town. Great prices and good quality food. A must if you love Peruvian food.

  • Jeanette N.

This is my favorite rotisserie chicken place in Kendall, if not in all of Miami. Also, do yourself a favor and order the anticuchos sometime. El Tambo offers the biggest portions of anticuchos I have ever seen! I also recommend the picarones. Unlike at other Peruvian places, the picarones here and nice soft, yet crispy too. There's nothing like a fresh order of picarones. The only reason I didn't give this place 5 stars is because of the music videos they keep playing on their TV. They're old (like from the 90's) and bad quality. Sometimes the same song loops over and over. Other than that, food and service are great.

I was working and a guy on the truck says, I'm ordering some food from El Tambo. Having never heard of the place I asked what he was getting. "1/2 chicken with white beans and rice." "White beans? I'm in. How's the chicken." "It's better than most rotisserie chicken I've had." The place looked pretty busy on an early Wednesday evening. We were taking out so no worries about a table although it looked about half full and it's a double wide in a strip mall so it's fairly good sized. I must say the counter seemed pretty organized and efficient. That's a plus in my book. No chit-chatting back and forth between the help. There were about a half dozen to-go order packaged and ready to go and an equal number of folks standing waiting to order. After paying we waited a few minutes. They called out a number which I couldn't find on my ticket. The young woman at the counter immediately recognized the order as ours and told us our order was ready. Another plus in my book. Attentive counter service is hard to find. I see other reviews condemning the service. Though that may have been his experience, mine was not similar. The chicken was tasty and tender and moderately moist. Whole chickens are tough to get perfect so I'll give them a pass on the slightly dry breast. The hot sauce was perfect, flavorful with moderate heat. They also give you a cheesy type sauce which was fine too. The white beans, ohhhh the white beans. They were perfectly garlicky. My only complaint was that there weren't enough! The rice was also very flavorful. I think it was a jasmati version but not sure. I tendered it up the next day with a quick low simmer. The little bit of leftover beans poured over the top was a perfect light lunch. Sadly, I had devoured the entire half chicken the night prior. For the more healthy conscious, I'm not sure if they offer brown rice. Reading the other reviews I see I must return for some of their other offerings. I'll upgrade this to a 5 if I'm happy after I return and sample some of the other fare.

Worst service ever! The place is completely disorganized and has no wait staff whatsoever. Took us a few minutes to figure out how to even order at the place and then we waited in line at what turned out to be the "cash only" line and then we had to wait again. So then after waiting for about 20 minutes, (no big deal, I'm patient) my friends got their food. Mine came up shortly after and I received some dish that didn't even remotely resemble what I had ordered... I got a seafood dish and they gave me tripe! Unfortunately, I didn't know it was tripe until I had bitten into it. I sent back the dish and they proceeded to remake it. But by the time it came out, everyone else at the table had finished their food and was ready to leave. If I had any confidence that their manager spoke a word of English, I would have complained to the manager. The food itself was rather mediocre, the service was completely abhorrent, and the atmosphere completely sucked. Avoid this place at all costs!

The food here is very good; authentic Peruvian dishes at a very reasonable price. My only gripe is that with the person that takes the orders. Sometimes it's a male, sometimes it's a female. The guy is OK, but a little slow. The girl was the rudest human being i have ever seen. When my order was made wrong, i told the guy who served it up. She then began yelling at me telling me that it was my fault. I have very little patience for stupidity, so i, along with another patron that felt the same, put her in her place. I'm a big believer that a restaurant can only be as good as their staff. Since that incident, i refuse to return. Other than that, the food is very good. I recommend the Chauffa rice mix. It's like a Peruvian take on special fried rice. Their sauces are phenomenal.

This restaurant has always have great Pollo a la brasa since I started coming here when moving into the Kendall. We always go here for our Sunday lunches twice a month and always get great service and a great serving of Lomo Saltado and Pollo. I also had great tasting Anticuchos (one of my more interesting choices in Peruvian cuisine.) Try it out and enjoy!

I am not familiar with Pardo's, so will have to check that out soon... otherwise the previous reviews are absolutely on the money. I eat here at least every other week. The food-price ratio is unbeatable and the location helps to keep it real. Even though this place is in a strip mall, it is always full. There has not been a single time when I did not have to wait in line, even when picking up after a phone in order. It is not too bad waiting however, watching the almost R-rated music videos and of course the crowd of locals (at times I believe that I am the center of crowd watching as I am 6'-7" and the average customer is about 5'-2"). All in good fun! The food is just great. When your own people are standing in line to order, that tells you it must be good! As was noted, the chicken is perfectly seasoned, unlike any other I tried in town. The best dish in the house must be the lomo saltado; sautéed beef over onions and French fries served with rice. If you can take it, go for the chile sauce (be careful here... had someone seriously overdoing it and almost regret the meal as their last!). Also great are the "Papas a la Huancaina"; potatoes in a Peruvian cheese sauce, or the fried fish. To start get some Cancha (toasted corn, not like the US variety) and to finish go for the Picarones (something like a pumpkin doughnut). After 5 pm they also deliver, probably one of the reasons we keep going back so much... it is really good food at a really good price! Viva El Tambo Grill!

I pretty much eat here twice a month with my dad and sometimes I'll invite a friend just so they can check it out. All 3 of the 3 friends I have brought along with me to El Tambo Grill have ADORED IT! The rotisserie chicken from Tambo is second to none and the salad dressing they have (which I only use to dunk my fries and chicken into) is pretty much my favorite sauce ever. As a peruvian who has been to many great peruvian restaurants in South Florida, I highly recommend Tambo Grill. Plus it is extremely affordable! Go to this place. I promise you will not be disappointed!

El Tambo is the place to go for delicious inexpensive Peruvian food. They make the best pollo la brasa I've had in Miami. Their jalea is good but not as good as aromas on 88th st. But for your money this place is excellent. The anticuchos are also some of the best. I was introduced to el Tambo 4 years ago by my wife and we always find ourselves coming back for more.

  • Armin H.

The food is very good and fresh but the staff is very rude and stingy with the tartar, huancaina, and green hot sauces. Overall, the place is very disorganized and it appears that they have too much staff and they are all bumping into each other and stressed out. I continue to go for the great food but wish they would get their act together as they are more or less a fast food restaurant where it takes forever to get the food.

By far my favorite Peruvian food spot. They've been consistent since the first time I went. I came here the first time with a couple of friends after a night of drinking and I tried "chupe de camarones" which instantly revived me. I've tried their chicken and beef dishes in multiple occasions and it never disappoints me, very flavorful and tender. Be aware that during the late afternoon it gets very packed, so don't expect to be eating right away. I've eaten at different Peruvian restaurants and by far this one has surpassed all my expectations, for me this is the most flavorful Peruvian food I've had here. I love this place and wished it was closer to me.

The BEST place to get POLLO A LA BRASA in Miami...I also love the chocolate cake, alfajores, cachitos...pretty much everything they have there tastes delicious... It makes me feel like I'm back in Peru enjoying my pollo a la brasa :)

I am writing this because I am still seething at this joke of a restaurant. I placed a delivery order last night at exactly 7pm and told the order taker that it was to be delivered to my 80 something year old parents. He told me it would take an hour at which I asked him to please make it sooner as they're older and get cranky when they haven't eaten. The order showed up at 8:50pm or almost 2 hours later, the order was wrong as it was missing the fried fish chunks and besides the half hour I spent on the phone with several personnel in that restaurant, they assured me that the order was delivered correctly. I explained to them that there was an item missing and after placing everyone who worked the kitchen, the delivery man and the order preparers on the phone, they refused to acknowledge that it was incorrect and refused to do the right thing by delivering the missing fish. I have never in my 40 years on this earth been so insulted, appalled and have never screamed at a person so loud and so long. I assured him that I will never eat here again and I eat there about 3 times a week and so does all of my family to which he basically said I don't care. I can say that I enjoyed the quality and taste of their food however integrity and service are more important to me and I for one will never eat in this place as long as I live.

Lomo saltado is the best! And the chicken there is really good.

  • Jen J.

worst lomo saltado ever!! overpriced, 7 small, stale pieces of meat with a dirty blood after taste and flavorless excessive fries and rice. If your budget doesn't allow for fresh good quality ingredients and portions then you should call it a day and close up shop. The tamal tastes like plastic and is also inedible. I am pregnant and was really looking forward to a good meal but instead may have garnered food poisoning and indigestion for 23 bux. What a bargain!

Good Peruvian restaurant. The portions are big but the "pollo a la brasa" flavor is not the same as Peru chicken... (EL Pollo Inca Restaurant have better flavor for the "pollo a la brasa").. The "Chicha Morada" have to many other flavors added.. (extra cinnamon and cloves).

just like Pardo's in the Gables, so need not drive down this far if you don't live around south miami. flavorful tasty rotisserie chicken, reasonably priced very spicy salsa huancaina, aji de huacatay nice, esp. with fries also they serve all the traditional peruvian dishes including sopas, ceviche, and marisco dishes (the sound level inside the place is a little harsh)

    (4)
  • Nathalie M.

This is the best Peruvian rotisserie chicken place in Kendall. The way they season their chicken is amazing! The prices can't be beat. You get a whole chicken with a mountain of french fries for under twenty dollars and and that's including the sauces that come with it! Their Lomo Saltado (strips of steak seasoned with tomato, onion, salt, pepper fried in a skillet until juiciness perfection) is pretty good! The thing is sometimes its super juicy and sometimes it's a miss. I guess it depends on who's cooking that day. But definitely go there for the whole chicken and fries, you won't be disappointed with the flavor or the prices and not to mention it easily feeds four people. I've heard their Ceviche is pretty good, I haven't tried it yet. For the sauces if one is huancaina sauce (white creamy cheesy) and the other is Peruvian hot sauce (green made from different herbs) if you love hot sauces you're going to be hooked to the green one. My family and I have been ordering chicken from this place for years and I have to tell you that the wait time has gone down immensely. I read in another review that they have delivery now? To play it safe,if you don't plan on eating there I would definitely order to pick up or delivery. BE WARNED it gets PACKED starting Friday-Sunday in the evening and the place is a place in a strip mall with a good size inside but still it get super packed because it's so good so just order to eat at home and you'll be happy :) Enjoy!

  • Bryan B.

The food here is great but the wait is just WAY TOO LONG (you have been warned)! make sure you call in advanced to place your order, that way the wait is not as long. The chicken is awesome and the ceviche is off the chain!

  • Marcelo S.

Long wait for the food, 34 min. The papa huacaina and the chicken was fresh and the place was clean, lots o ppl working but not efficient, didn't like music, same music for one hour it's too much! Maybe I'll comeback, for pick-up!!

My boyfriend and I eat here once or twice a month (takeout/delivery). We share the same thing every time: Shrimp Ceviche, Churrasco, White Beans/Rice and Fries. I've had the chicken before and while it was good, it wasn't great. I'm not a fan of their fried Yuca either, which I normally love. However, I have to agree with another post about the White Beans, they are insanely good, sometimes I feel like going there just for beans and rice. The Shrimp Ceviche is the best I've had and is not at all bitter as some ceviches are. It has the usual red onion/cilantro/lime flavors but also toasted Cancha, "boiled Peruvian corn?" and boiled sweet potato. I wish there were more shrimp for the price, but it doesn't stop me from ordering it. The Churrasco is always tender and rich and a decent portion for the price. We had it delivered for the first time last night and it got here pretty fast, but more importantly, the food was piping hot. The french fries were so hot we couldn't eat them right away, and I've never had that happen with delivery. I would advise against eating in, the vibe in the dining room is a little "intense," and also recommend calling your order in if you're picking up, the wait is a bit long. I also WISH they had a website or a menu posted online somewhere as I can't seem to hold onto a copy. If I had one, I might order something new...

El Tambo Grill is a Peruvian restaurant located within a strip mall in West Kendall, Miami. They've been here well over 10 years and have expanded to other locations in town. At this particular location, we found a well lit, clean venue with plenty of seating. Staff are friendly, though there may be communication barriers if you don't speak Spanish :) Peruvian cuisine is know for their mastery of items such as rotisserie chicken, Lomo Saltado (kind of like stir fry beef but with tomatoes and onions) and ceviche among other things. I ordered the seafood chaufa, which is a Peruvian fried rice. VERY big portion, and plenty of calamari, mussels and shrimps, along with chopped Ham. My sisters ordered the Lomo Saltado which she LOVED, and she has vast knowledge of Peruvian food! My review of El Tambo is 4/5 stars, only because I was having lunch with my sister and it took several minutes longer for her order to come out than mine. It sure was piping hot when it came out, though!!! :)

at the risk of being redundant, good food but the most disrespectful woman working the counter. fuming i called my dad, while awaiting my order and told him, he laughed, "did you get in the wrong line"? lomo saltado and Polo all la brasa, then I'll shamelessly bathe it in that spicy aji. seriously decent food, but I'd hate to give my money to such a dreadful person ever again

Visiting Florida with wife and kids went to have dinner at this place, Pollo a la brasa was delicious, I eat tacutacu with seco but was really BAD but I didn't really care , I was happy to see my kids eating Pollo a la Brasa . One thing I would like to mention is the customer service from the cashier girls really sucks ! Hello ladies , we're paying to eat , both of you need some serious customer service training !!!!! The guy who was cleaning the tables from Venezuela was awesome, he is a good example on how to treat customers.

  • Guillermo C.

As a peruvian I must be say that the chicken is good but not the best that I tasted. We ordered also anticuchos and they came almost raw in the middle although we ordered well done. Of course we return the plate and the staff was very rude with us showing us unconformity. We wait almost 20 minute for the cooked anticuchos y they return burned but also raw in the middle again. The cow heart must be cooked well done if you don't wanna have a stomach problems. They must be known that. They need to know that your customers are first and they must be practice it. A little smile shows that you're welcome. I will never return to this place.

Peruvian fast food at its best. If you are looking for fancy table service, this is not the place but if you want just good food at affordable prices just show up. Their menu is pretty complete when it comes to Peruvian food, from the ceviches, to the jalea mixtas, to the arroz chaufa. The prices are not cheap but they will not break the bank. The restaurant is big and can get full at peak lunch and dinner hours.

This restaurant does not have a clear layout. You order at the counter and pick up at another after your number has been called but you wouldn't know that from just walking in. I just had the fish ceviche. It was served nicely next to corn, a little sweet potato and canchita. The spice level was just as I wanted but I don't think they used the traditional ajj or rocoto. It was rather bland and needed salt which I added.

Delicious food and variety of food! The wait is kinda long. Open parking space.

To begin I'm not a fan of chicken, especially boring old rotisserie style. But! I am now! Succulent, Flavorful, Tender, Delicious! I was very impressed, and contrary to many reviews the service was very friendly. I had 1/4 chicken w/fries & yuca and I was licking my fingers. She ordered steak with rice & plantain, meh it looked basic. Their specialty is definitely the chicken, they have all of the typical Peruvian dishes and their portions are hearty. It's self-service so you place your order at the register and they call you when it's ready. They do however clean up for you (tip jar at the register). I will definitely return for some more chicken. When you're done try the Peruvian ice cream shop next door.

Went last Sunday May 17, 2015 after hearing about how great their chicken was. What I was not prepared for was the worst customer service and attitude I have found anywhere in this city. The ladies at the cashier where you order are rude as if they were doing you a favor. The chicken was raw, full of blood, when I got up to get a extra fork the cashier lady who was not busy just ignored me and got irritated. We just got up and left. Gave it 2 stars because their seafood platter was really good, but please train those rude women.

Love the food here. Simple Peruvian dishes: arroz chaufa (Peruvian fried rice) is the best. Served with 1/4 chicken (dark or breast, your choice) this is the safest bet here. The sauces are awesome too. I always make sure to get the leche de Tigre, a simple fish-based ceviche, but if you don't like it spicy be sure to ask for the spicy sauce on the side. I give the place four stars instead of five since the place isn't always staffed by super friendly people. Kinda aloof staff. And I don't like eating there either. I always take out because of the vibe. But the food is worth it. Had to come back to delete a star. Sometimes the service here can be rude. Sigh....

Their chicken and fries are amazing Lots of selection in the menu Clean place and always a person cleansing the tables They don't have a waiter so it's more like a self service once you make the order over the counter You need to find seat as its first come first serve It can be pretty packed during lunch and dinner time

I ordered for take-out. The portions were quite large. The ceviche mixto was fresh and tasty. service is a little slow... even for take-out. So I can only imagine eating-in with them...

The food is amazing and the service too. I have been at many peruvian restaurants but el tambo grill is my favorite. The food they serve is very flavorful and the people who work there and super nice and helpful. I really recommend el tambo grill!

Alright ,so this place is confusing.menu is a little difficult and the way service works is just odd buy back to what matters, the food.the price is a somewhat fair not the best given that it looks like a cafeteria but the shrimp ....let me repeat this the SHRIMP .huge ,tasty and simply perfect ,a must try if in that restaurant ,slightly pricy.

Amazing peruvian chicken. Located in a small strip mall, this place is unassuming. Went on a Sunday afternoon and it was packed. You order first and then find some place to sit while you wait for them to call your number. It took about 5 minutes for our meal to be ready. 1 whole chicken, tostones, beans (~$20) - tender, juicy chicken. The beans were amazing as well. I'd say it's probably better than chicken rico in baltimore. It fed 4 people so for $5/person it's a steal! Overall, great place to grab some peruvian chicken at a cheap price. Would definitely be back when I'm in the area.

Lomo saltado is my favorite dish. Good service and quick. Jalea mixta is also one of my favorite dish of fried seafood. Tastes even better with a yellow sauce they have.

Good food, one older lady cashier was rude, mean and disrespectful. The service was good except for that bad cashier, the passion fruit juice was really good

customer service could really really be improved. prices on the menu do not match the price is being charged. I recommend checking your receipt twice. there is two different lines for paying. 1 line is for credit one line is for cash. extremely inconvenient if you happen to get on the wrong lane.

Only reason it receives two stars and not one is because their chicken is so good! Otherwise, the service is the absolute worst in all of Miami. Not only are they rude at the cashiers, but it seems they know their food is so good so it justifies their abhorrent service. I tried giving them a second and even third chance but was disappointed every damn time. It seems like they are too set in their ways. Won't be going back again. If you still want good Peruvian food at a reasonable price but don't want to taste the bitterness from the poor service, make your way over to Pollo Inka or even La Perla.

Awesomest rotisserie I have ever had. Love the sauces and the yucca! Only been here once but love it

Being Peruvian, I definitely always tell my friends about this restaurant. You can never go wrong with our pollo a la brasa. And the ají they make here is absolutely exquisite. Everyone has to try it. It is worth the drive anytime. Imagine, I live by Brickell and I make it out here. Just do yourself a favor and give it a shot. Take advantage of the daily lunch specials. They all come with a drink included. It includes our typical plates such as lomo saltado, jalea, arroz chaufa con mariscos, etc... Pricing is decent for lunch and plates. So if you're ever in the mood for Peruvian, stop by. And as a heads up, it is counter service and they have take out. They get really busy during lunch hours.

So walking into the restaurant, it was beautiful I love the color of the walls and the paintings it really expresses Peru ! I got into line and within 5 minutes a lady took care of me. I first spoke in English to see if they could understand but then I had to speak Spanish noticing they didn't understand me but service was nice . For about 18 dollars I got the whole chicken with French fries and tostones for take out. The chicken was really good and well marinated ! The spices were just right! The fries and tostones were good and you could tell they were just fried. The only downside was the sauces I'm a big sauce person but the sauces here were okay I got a yellow sauce and it tasted like cheese and then a green sauce a bit spicy but very salty . Usually other places give like a fresh vinegar salsa like sauce . I would recommend this place for their chicken it was great overall. Looking forward for the marinated beef next !

We love their food and they aren't too pricey! Yeah the service is not the best but we really don't mind. We just go and order and go. Yeah it would be nice if they trained their workers on customer service but otherwise they have great food and serve large amounts which to me is more important.

As a Peruvian and Limeña, I have to say pollo a la brasa is a very important part of our culture. There are several places in Miami where you can get a menu similar to Tambo's, but none of them makes pollo a la brasa like them. This is the best pollo a la brasa you will find in town! I only give this place 2 stars though because of their service and because they will charge you extra for every drop of sauce you ask for. Also, they do have pretty terrible service, be it in person if you go to the restaurant, or if you call to order on the phone. And they are very unapologetic about it. Of course, once doesn't go out to eat with health in mind, but if you were looking to pair up your roasted chicken with vegetables, this is not the place to do it. They have a side salad, which would be great if it wasn't just a pile of shredded iceberg lettuce with two slices of tomato on top. Yeah, this is not a salad. Pollo is usually eaten with fries, and if that's what you want, you can eat your heart out here because they will serve you plenty. They cook other Peruvian dishes here too, but i find that other restaurants do a better job with the classics, but they aren't bad with them. Their servings are plentiful, so if you are hungry, you will leave pretty full. In the end, for me, the service and condiment charges are bad enough for me to not want to go there unless i'm in the best mood of my life and nothing can bother me. If these two aren't a big deal for you, by all means go and get some pretty tasty chicken.

Was in the mood for Thai, and that was closed. Although I vowed I would never come back....I did. I guess it was OK I did because the second time was better. The first time I went, I got my plate and we waited for my wife's plate to come out. And waited.....and waited. After 45 minutes it finally came out. 45 MINUTES?!?! This is a casual/fast eating experience - that is unacceptable. I actually finished my entire plate (a rather large one) before her food came out. I tried to wait, but my food was getting cold. I had the Lomo Saltado, which was decent, especially for the price. I wasn't expecting the best I ever had. The second time we were starving, and decided we would share a 1/2 chicken with rice and tostones. The chicken was tasty, the rice a little greasy for my taste (but expected) and the tostones were huge. Everything tasted good, the tostones were great. The place was alot slower this time around and the food came out fairly quickly, making up for the last time. I called it a peruvian Pollo Tropical. Quick food, affordable but they offer much more than chicken, like steak and ceviche and the portions are large. Overall though, with the accounted for service and overall greasiness of the food I don't think I'd ever "crave" going here, but rather would go out of convenience.

First of all the portions in this place are HUUUUUGE!!! We had the following: seafood fried rice, la braza chicken, fish and shrimp ceviche, the big fried seafood platter, maduros and tostones. Everything was delicious esp the ceviche which was super fresh and tasty. The fried seafood was divine, fried to perfection without being greasy. The rice was good and full of seafood! This was my first time here and it's definitely a staple for me now. My sis has had the shrimp gumbo several times and calls it addictive. The menu is really big with lots of variety. Their purple corn cocktail is da bomb!!

Last year I traveled to Peru and did not have the best food experience due to the areas I backpacked through, but this is a good start at making up for it. I'm visiting a friend in Miami who's from Peru and she has lunch here every week. The portion sizes are HUGE. I had the churrasco with fried plantains and rice. The meat was unbelievably tender. Banana bites...yum. I should've tried the corn on the cobb. The plump kernels on the table next to me were B-I-G. They looked juicy and sweet, but unfortunately I wouldn't know. Fail. My friend ordered the chicken and it came out on a mountain of fried rice which had more chicken and sausage mixed in. I love the green picante sauce. They also provide a cheese dipping sauce that would pair well with the fries...which I hear are really good. In looking around, the fries come piled high on a plate. Don't order more than one side of fries. This place gets crowded. Hey, some things are worth the wait.

Love the papa a la guancaina. But my absolute favorite are the lucuma bars! My friend took me here and then I had to take everyone else I knew especially my Peruvian friends!

This place is awesome! I always get a full portion if the lomo saltado (you can choose from a full or half order) it's steak cooked with onions and tomatoes served with fries and rice that soak up all the delicious juice it's cooked in. There's always plenty to take home. For those who are on a diet they have the most delicious rotisserie chicken you'll ever taste. In fact that's what they're most famous for. This is not a place you want to go in a rush, sometimes the lines can be a little long but the food is DEFINITELY makes the wait worth while. My favorite way to eat is to either order for delivery or order ahead and take it to go and eat it at home.

  • Lissette P.

After a couple of visits I quickly cane to learn the food is "hit or miss". Have yet to figure out why the wait from the time you order to the time you get the food is always 30+ minutes. Service is anything but friendly. And on a side note, our last attempt at this place, a lady came in with her family AND they brought with them their pet cat. Now you may think I'm pulling your chain at this point, but unfortunately I'm not . Not only did they come in with their cat, but proceeded to feed it. Apparently we were the only ones disturbed by this . The cat finished his meal while we ended up leaving half of ours.

The only reason this restaurant still operates it's because of the taste of the food, the management and service are mediocre at best, sometime downright rude.

Worst service and slowest service in Miami, it's really sad because their food is great but be ready to WAIT!!! I was the first person to order and waited over 45 mins for rotisserie chicken and rice!! Food that's already cooked!! Truly pathetic! I will enjoy this chicken to the fullest as it will be my last time ordering from there. The prices are on par with pollo tropical and I don't wait even 10 mins there.

The food is good. With that been said they have horrible customer service for example I was a regular till I ordered carry out they did not only forget to get the orders wrong not once but twice, the first time I let it go no biggie right so I called them the 2nd time the manager/owner was rude. I asked If they could delivery it he will not accommodate me because my house was a mile away from the area that they deliver to, I asked could he make a exception since is was the second time it happen he still said no so I told him his going to loose a loyal customer his response was I don't care do whatever you want. I will not be going back to Tambo grill and give my hard earned money to a establishment who doesn't make a little effort for his clients because he feels he has plenty of customers going through his doors . I'm not exaggerating!! As you can see is my 1st or second review I could not let this place slide and I warned him that I would write a bad review he said I don't care.

The food was not bad (although i've had better), but the service was so terrible that it just completely ruined the meal for me. I went with my fiance, he got his food first. I did not get my food for another 45 MINUTES! Thats insane! His food was getting cold so I told him to start eating. He was done before my food came out. By the time I got my food, I was not hungry anymore. I would never go back.

Worst experience ever! The manager was rude and arrogant. From the moment I walked into this establishment the manager allowed people to cut my group off in line and then gave us attitude. After this I had the worst corn and cheese plate ever I went to return or exchange my plate and the manager would not have it he made fun of my nationality. I will never return to this place not only is the hospitality terrible the food was not that great.

Seriously, I've been here a couple times. The food is good, not great. And honestly, the prices have gone up so price for value is not amazing. Last time I went, they overcharged me. I noticed this by looking at the menu and looking at my receipt. When I went up to the counter to comment on this, the people were laughing and completely rude and indifferent. They didn't apologize, they said the menu was old and that there was a note on the wall saying prices have changed. First of all, if you're changing prices, change your menu. Second, if you haven't changed your menu, inform your customers. Third, if you haven't changed the menu but have time to put up a sign saying that prices may be higher, there's something wrong with management and your priorities. Fourth, I wouldn't have been mad or annoyed, if they had apologized and explained the situation and not been disrespectful. Suffice it to say, I'm never coming back. Sometimes service makes a difference for the better or worse.

Amazing Peruvian food. I always order their chicken with arroz chaufa and extra salsa guancaina. They are fast too. You can dine in or take out. Their rice is delicious too it has garlic in it.
