Initial impression the place was a ghost town, not a single person in there. Always a bad sign, when I opened the menu I realized why it was so empty. The prices are very exaggerated. I ordered the sautéed fish with potatoes and rice, which was very fishy in what appeared to be a fish sauce. She ordered the seafood fried rice which she enjoyed and the portion was huge. For a grand total of 40.24 gratuity is included! Yup a party of two and gratuity is included. Never acceptable in my book. Very poor etiquette to include tip on a party less than 8. I WILL NOT RETURN!!

We were recommended this restaurant so we decided to try it. There were hardly any people inside but we did go a little early for dinner around 7pm. The server was nice but wasn't really knowledgable. The ceviche was delicious but my husband tried a sample platter with different items. It was ok but expensive. Then we ordered our favorite...arroz chaufa. It had no flavor at all. We only ate a few spoon fills and took it home so we can modify it. It was just the two of us and spent over $100 for just 3 dishes and 2 glasses of wine. We don't mind paying that so long as the food was worth it. We asked for our check and while we were waiting a DJ was setting up and started playing top 40 music. By time there were already more people dining but if you looked around non of them was into that kind of music. Especially when we got there they were playing music from Peru. Felt very disconnected but as I mentioned we were there really so who knows what kind of people go there later on the night. We were glad we finished before karaoke started. We didn't go for that type of entertainment. We simple wanted authentic Peruvian food.

Excellent food, great customer service and a place to enjoy good music and karaoke with your family and friends. Alberto, the owner always makes sure everyone is being served as part of his family. 5 Stars !!

I definitely would not have come here were it not for the many stars on Yelp, as it most certainly is not the type of neighborhood I would go hunting for good eats. When we sat down we got a small ramekin of those supersized crunchy corn, which we happily munched on while browsing the extensive menu. The food is quite delicious. The Jalea is not just loaded with the cheaper calamari, like other places do, but has tender chunks of fish, mussels etc. The beef in lomo salado is more tender than that of Tambo Grill's too. The waitress is very friendly, speaks good English, and gosh, more attentive than a butler, should I have one. I was scoping a few cubes of ice from my husband's glass into mine when she showed up w a glass of ice for me. We glanced at the TV and she immediately rotated it our direction. Attentive, but not intrusive or over eager like the type that stops by every five minute asking if you need anything, or taking away dishes while you are still eating your last bites.

My father lives in Miami, and he took me here while I was there on business. The food is fantastic! In fact, I was in Miami for about two months, and I believe my Father and me ate there about five times. The wait staff is very friendly, and the owner is like your best friend a few minutes after meeting you. On my last day in Miami, I insisted that we go there. It was the first time I had the chance to hear the live music. What a great treat as the entertainer customized his songs to include my little niece who was with us. All in all, this is a great place to eat and enjoy, and enjoy and eat! **Please note that despite the information above, the restaurant does accept credit cards, and they do offer take out service as well.

In the town for the wknd & decided to try something new. I like Peruvian food & we had a coupon. Why not? Entering inside it looked a bit sketch b/c of the location, but the inside was nice & neat. There was only another family inside & unfortunately it looked more like a club than a restaurant. We were a table of 9 & love to eat. We got a sample platter of some appetizers. Two different kind of ceviches, octopus & a potato dish with a Peruvian cheese sauce. The ceviche is fresh & had a nice kick to it. Marinated & spiced to perfection! However, the main dishes were a bit of a disappointment. I think they focused so much on delivering tasteful appetizers & the presentation that they forgot to put the same enthusiasm on our main meal. I ordered the camarones picante & my meal came out cold. It was recommended & unfortunately not a dish I would've ordered. The dish was not spicy at all & the shrimp were overcooked. My friend ordered the lomo saltado & it was tasty. Definitely a popular traditional dish & one that I regret not ordering. Their sopa de marisco was also tasty & full of seafood. You got a lot of soup for the price you paid. There is no "theme" to this place & I think it lacks as an actual restaurant. They have "karaoke nights" to make up for their business as a restaurant. That seems to be more popular than the actual restaurant itself, which is sad because the food is actually pretty good. The owner was a sweetheart & honestly checked up on us constantly. He shared ideas, explained the menu & made recommendations. I'm giving the restaurant 4 stars for their service, quality of food & overall flavor.

Delicious Peruvian food! We went here honestly by default because another restaurant had a wait, but I'm glad we ended up here. The food is delicious. We ordered the ceviche (of course), tallarin verde, aji de gallina, & pescado a lo macho. I tried all of them & they were sooooo yummy! Because they were out of the fetuccini alfredo my sister ordered, they gave her a free flan, which was also vey delicious... & I normally don't like flan. We also had the crepes with sherbert. Yum! This place was a big hit with us! & the owner is such a nice guy. Apparently there's karaoke and music on Fridays & Saturdays so we will definitely be back!

We've been coming to Ceviche del Rey for about 4 years now, we are not constant customers, but every few months or so we come. Every time we come the food never dissapoints. I definitely recommend the jalea it's an appetizer but I can assure you it's all you need to fill you up. The price I find decent for the quantity and quality of food you receive. Im giving a four start because last time we went (this past friday) the waitress was not very attentive. We had to ask for water around three times, and the whole time this girl was on her phone talking to the other waitress. Aside that, when we've gone to karaoke nights it's great, and the owner is very attentive to everyone!

Great service, girl was very attentive, and honest, she did not know too much about what kind of fish they served but over all great attention. Food was good, roccoto was awesome. 4 stars because it needs an static upgrade big time. This hidden restaurant needs a kick start, a sides from the Karaoke nights it needs something else for locals to want to find it and keep coming back. Wish the best of luck to the owners and hope you find that something special.....

If it wasn't because I was with a group of my family members I wouldn't have come here. The atmosphere here on a regular day is okay (never been here for karaoke or such), the service is okay to below average and the food is 6 out of 10. As someone who works in the food and beverage industry I was not impressed at all. The price for the food is overpriced for certain things like the papa a la huncaina which is a mediocre portion. I would not come back just because it's not my type of place. It's basically all around OKAY, nothing special here. There are plenty of Peruvian restaurants around the area with better food such as La Perla and Aromas.

The food was okay, I order a ceviche with corvina and wasn't corvina, I pay around $22 dollars for something I didn't order, the place was empty, only two people sitting on the bar , no lights , wasn't a good impression. Need to work a little more.

this place is fantastic. the food is consistently superb. we were introdiced by my husband's boss who's form Peru and it's his favorite place for ceviche - no wonder. i am still dreaming about the octopus (pulpo) ceviche - spectacular. if you're looking for fried (and who isn't) the jalea mixed seafood platter is aslo fantastic.

I cannot believe my friends and I found this place on a late Friday night. It's literally walking distance from my home, hidden in the back of a small strip mall. I didn't have high hopes for the place, but my friends were craving ceviche and I was along for the ride. I really had no idea what I was in for. Apparently, Friday nights are Karaoke night and our table was given a pretty massive song list to sort through consisting of both American favorites (Journey, Boston, etc.) and Hispanic hits (Juanes, Marc Anthony, etc.). Plenty of people participated, it got rowdy and it was a complete riot. It was absolutely ridiculous, but in the best possible way. Besides the karaoke madness, the food was killer! Everything tasted very authentic and fresh - and it was very affordable. I seriously cannot believe I discovered such a hidden gem so close to home. Did I mention it is open until 4am on Friday and Saturdays? Get your late night fix of food and fun, West Kendall-ites!

Our Android phone found this little place, after another restaurant the we usually frequent for Peruvian was too crowded. It was wonderful; all of our food was delicious and beautifully prepared and presented. The service was excellent as well. We will definitely go back the next time we crave Peruvian food.

Found this place through Yelp. Never thought this place existed in this neighborhood. Well worth the trip. The price was normal, but I got a discount through Yelp that made it much better. We had the Tallarine con bistek (Steak with spaghetti), Corvina a lo macho, and of course the Ceviche as a appetizer. All where delicious and freshly prepared. Definitely will be back. I read all the reviews prior coming to this place, and I took a chance. But it's definitely worth it for the money, also I forgot to to mention, the service was excellent and the young lady that attended us was extremely helpful and attentive.

This is a pretty good Peruvian spot. I'm not generally a huge Peruvian food fan, but I thought this place was generally tasty. I had the spicy shrimps with rice. The sauce had a good heat to it, but it wasn't even close to being overpowering. The shrimp was fine as was the rice. It was about $18 all told which is relatively cheap. I would come back if I were in the area, but would not necessarily go out of my way to come back.

Friendly staff and wonderful food. I go there quite often for lunch since I work in the area. Lunch specials come with a starter which is great. I usually order ceviche here which is always fresh and just the right amount of heat. Today I decided to try something new. The owner suggested arroz con marisco (rice with seafood). The starter was your choice of soup. I had the chicken and rice. Its a good thing I am a cilantro fan because it was loaded. The soup was full of chicken, veggies and rice. I could have had just that. The arroz con mariscos was amazing. The seafood in the rice was cooked perfectly, the calamari rings were tender, The rice was flavorful and the interesting part is that I noticed that it had some kind of melted cheese in it.
