I found out about this place because I asked a Mexican sales person I encountered at the mall to give me a recommendation for a good Mexican restaurant in the area. Having spent considerable time in the West I became accustomed to an abundance of taco shops (most of their names end in "-berto's"). In Miami the Mexican influence is not felt as strongly, so I have been really missing a good Machaca or Carne Asada Burrito with it's accompanying Horchata. So off we went to test the recommendation. The cuisine was not exactly the same as what you'd find in the Wwestern US. I ordered a guacamole appetizer and the taco sampler, which had chicken, beef, tongue, and al pastor tacos. The tacos' meat seemed rather overcooked. Tongue is usually very soft, but this one had the texture of a tough and dry chicken breast. They used seasonings I don't associate with Mexican food, and I'm not sure what it is (paprika? cumin?). Well, at least we have the horchata to fall back on. How can you go wrong with that? This restaurant is officially not what I've been looking for, but it will do. Three stars for authentic barrio atmosphere and a really nice server.

Surprise! This one is just as awesome if not more awesome than El Carnal 2. The owner hangs out at this one a lot more now and there is also menu items you can only find at this one and its much bigger than El Carnal 2.

This is a new location of the already well known El Carnal 2. I've had the food at El Carnal 2 and the qulaity of the food is the same as of El Carnal 2. The benefits of this one is the larger size of the location and the free and plentiful parking located adjecent to the restuarant. Enjoy the new location.

I was going to give this a 3, but I decided it was a 2 worthy review. Overall the tacos were good. Meat was fresh and tasted good for being just meat in a corn tortilla. Their enchiladas, rice and beans were not so good. Their chips were microwaved and their pico was bland. Ambiance was also a minus star as it seemed very 'cold'. Didn't really make patrons feel welcomed. Food was ready quickly.

The guacamole was bla! No much taste to it, the chips were nice and crispy but the guacamole need it flavor. Also order a carne asada soft taco, it wasn't back but i wouldn't come back for it! The only other good thing besides the chips was the margarita

After accidentally showing up to Carnal 3 after reading the reviews for Carnal 2 I thought I would be disappointed. I was wrong! Our server was very friendly and spoke fluent English. The food was delicious, bursting with flavor. I had the steak burrito which was amazing! And she had the ribs also delicious. We were a bit disappointed that they didn't have Horchata, but overall it was a great lunch.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
