Its hit or miss at this bakery. It's close to my job, so we eat here often. I've gotten sick twice. The owners are cool, thats why they got 3 stars. Only some of the ladies know how to cook though. I ordered a pan con bistec and the only thing on it was meat, tomatoes, and a few papitas. And the bread was so crusty I couldn't bite into it. How does a cuban bakery mess up a pan con bistec? The pastelitos are the only thing on point.

This is definitely one of my favorite bakery's in Miami. It is the typical Cuban spot, complete with the little old men in the corner drinking Cuban coffee, playing some little card game on a machine and checking out every woman that walks in.. but besides that During breakfast and lunch hours the place can get packed, but that is because the Cuban ladies working there know how to whip up some delicious Cuban food. Prices are really reasonable and portions are big. The pastelito de guayaba fino (very little pastry) is so good because its not so much of the flakey stuff and more of the gooey stuff. They sell these DELICIOUS Dulce de leche candies there, for the life of me i cannot remember the name this morning but they are small circular light brown in color ( they look and taste like Dulce de leche) and they cost less than 1$. I always buy two because one is just not enough. (try them if you have a major sweet tooth and you will fall in love) Lastly croqueta preparada/ or juevos revuelto con jamon and french fries along with fresh squeezed O.J = perfect hangover remedy (they do take out) Thank me later

yummy pastelitos and croquetas! Will be looking for someplace local like this!! Everything we tried was fresh and delicious. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. it was relatively full for early on a Sunday morning, but the service was impeccable. This place has been around for years, and no wonder!

I came to make my wife happy with a pastry I tried from this bakery once, but the weather forced us to stay longer and why not a full meal. I will break my experience in two, pros and cons. Things I liked: * The guava-cheese pastry was awesome (the reason we came) * The Cuban toast (pan con mantequilla) was the one with the most butter in my life, extremely tasty. Not that my heart was happy but I was. * Choice of cantina for $31 plus tax and they offer close to 15 items on that menu * My two full breakfasts, pastry and taxes came out to be $9.60 Things I would love if they would improve: * Have a menu. Customers shouldn't have to order from a sever mouth * I get turned off when places charge $1 extra for breakfast after 11am. Silverware were plastic and plates. I don't think there is more effort in cooking eggs than a heavier meal * My fries were under cooked * My server didn't write our orders and misunderstood hash browns by fries. We ate them anyways. We are cool people * If they have a TV, they should have it on. Whether for picures of menu, menu itself or any programming. If they have appealing items being display that might gets customer to order from their advertisement * I would have loved to have been asked, how was the food or want dessert since this is a bakery or bring the bill. I shouldn't have to ask for things adhoc. But I'm glad for the experience. It is always good to change things and break the routine. I will probably comeback for the guava pastry. Even though I'm not crazy about guava but theirs is that GOOD.

Close, convenient, cordial and not costly! More importantly the pastelitos and croquetas are surprisingly good. What I liked is that the lady helping me offered me the option to purchase a variety of pasteles to save me $$.... NO restaurant does that nowAdays.

This has to be one of the best cuban bakeries in the Westchester area, the breakfest are cheap and yummy, from the bakery the tequenos are to the best in miami. Cafe con leche with tostada is my all time favorite. Ladies are friendly, and they have a couple of tables, but i usually take out a box full of pastelitos and stuff for home.

Unassuming, unexpected. Words that comes to mind when thinking of El Arte. What is arguably one of the best bakery in Miami. Now if I can move it closer to me, that would be perfect. So many little things you don't find in many places. All of them sooo good it'll make you slap yo mamma.

By far the best ever guava and cheese pastelito! No other bakery can compare. The staff is always pleasant and the service is always fast. For breakfast I also recommend their pan con tortilla. It's pretty big so you can almost share with someone.

I really like it here. And my parents really like it here. That's got to be some sort of phenomenon. I get the breakfast here often, and it's always good. Scrambled eggs w/ ham, french fries, buttered toast, and cafe con leche to be exact. There are cheaper cuban joints to eat a decent breakfast, but the service is excellent here, and the other things are good here, too. I've ordered two dozens of pastries here, on-the-fly, and they pull it off in a matter of minutes, no sweat. I mean, they made them fresh for me right then and there. And it was goooood.

First time visiting El Arte and I was pleased. The pastelitos I had were were awesome, not like I've tasted in other places. I had their Guava and cheese pastelito and my mouth watered, along with 1 cremita de leche, and toast. They also have a huge selection of pastelitos and other sweets. The pastelito was soft and easy to eat. The toast was just right, not too hard, and just the right amount of butter. I will be back :)

This city is saturated with bakeries producing pastelitos, but the guava and cheese here are different and delicious. The winner is the crust on these. Guava and cheese pasteitos are usually dry, oversized, way-too-crusty triangles with a nickel sized glop of curdling cheese (attempting to impersonate cream cheese) and guava jelly. The pastry part of these little pastries is moist and flakey minus the dry flakes flying all over the place and adorning your face and clothes. The cheese is creamy and not too sweet and works beautifully with the sweet guava jelly. The cheese croquettes and cordon bleu croquettes are creamy and delicious. Don't miss these items if you make it. I see a pattern here and it is cheese done right. They are famous for flan de queso cake so I must try this on my next visit. As Carmen says, it's easy to miss and the prices are very reasonable, so don't miss this!

SO MUCH FOOD!! I posted on the talk threads looking for a cheap, greasy breakfast, comfortable with and figuring I'd be sent somewhere with hispanic roots. (I don't know how to be politically correct when it comes to describing food) Anyway, the first response that turned our car around from it's original destination was to go to El Arte Bakery and Cafe on bird and 87th. My only requirements were the breakfast staples: eggs, bacon, bread. I got heart attack worthy bacon, almost 6 strips!, lots of scrambled eggs, cuban toast, and french fries. Oh yeah, PLUS cafe con leche. Guess how much? 3.50!! ($1 more after 11) It's kind of hard to mess up those breakfast staples and my bacon was super crispy, just the way I like it. My BF had the bistec with eggs on top with french fries (he accidentally asked for french toast, hahaha), cuban toast and cafe con leche for something like $5. THey also serve fresh squeezed OJ and they have a little bakery where we also got rice pudding and a little pastry for under $3. We both understood and could speak enough spanish to order, and our server thankfully spoke enough of English. There is a quiet gentlemen who opens the door which makes this place that much cuter. First stop on my cheap, greasy breakfast tour was a success!

I have been going to El Arte Bakery for years now. And I keep going back because the food is excellent, but mostly for the service. The staff is friendly, they remember you and your family, and when you come in they say hello like they really care. I have showed up at the end of the day looking for stuff to have an impromptu party, and they have opened the door for me after they were closed, and already cleaning up. Where do you get that kind of service in Miami? Also, they are quick and efficient.

My favorite Cuban bakery. The pastelitos have the perfect amount of guava (the guava itself is also extremely good) and they have the right combination of butteriness and flakiness to the pastry itself. I bring their dedos and pastelitos to my family every year for thanksgiving and they fly off the table. Trust me and grab a guava y queso crema dedo (tequeno) it's totally worth it despite the calories! I've had several of the other pastries there and they are also very good. Very reasonable prices, startlingly reasonable. It's helpful to know some Spanish to have your order come out properly. It's tucked into a strip mall next to Pollo Tropical, easy to miss so keep your eyes peeled.

I'm always in search for good Cuban bakeries, and tried this one after reading the reviews. Was not disappointed, really great pasteles, everything I tried, I enjoyed.
