Average, the nigiri was amazing but I felt like it was a bit overpriced, the sushi rice was well prepared and the fish was tender and dissolve in your mouth the atmosphere is great and the service is excellent but I have had better sushi for far less money. (Update) after going to Arigato sushi and having a fresh memory of this place in mind I bumped down the rating by one star because of a couple of things first, The service is way faster and Arigato sushi and the rolls are bigger and more flavorful, you are pretty much paying for the location here if you want real good sushi go to Arigato sushi on semoran the place looks a bit rundown but you will not be disappointed

This was my second time going to Ran Getsu. Both times I happen to attend during their happy hour. The first time I went, I got the pork gyozas for an appetizer (I also got them this time around). They are so delicious! I love that they come on a sizzling pan and have just a little crisp to them. I had the scallop roll and it was very fresh and well prepared. This time I decided to split the house special, the Sukiyaki, with a friend. It's a hibachi-esque dish made with NY strip steak cooked in sweet soy broth and veggies. The kicker is that they whisk an egg and you're supposed to dip you meat, veggies, noodles in the mixture and then mix with rice. IT'S SOOOO GOOD! Can't wait to go again!

Been here several times, every time we get great food and prompt service. They have a good happy hour menu that includes $5 rolls, drinks, and appetizers. The bento box is a good deal to try several different food choices. Overall, one of our favorite restaurants and the best in Maitland.

So I pass Rangetsu probably 3 times a day, and I've never stopped in. Tonight my friend and I went in and decided to have dinner. The food overall was good, but a complaint for me was how oily the noodles were! We both ordered Miso soup and Yakisoba. The miso soup was served in a near decorative bowl, and the Yakisoba was artfully laid out. However, the noodles in the dish were very oily and made me lose my appetite. Other than that, I'd definitely go back!

Solid Japanese food with cool, urban, hip decor (unexpected in suburban Maitland). Oh and they have a Robata grill (definitely not common around here). Service was attentive and efficient.

Wonderful service and great food! Our group met for dinner last night and we were greeted/ seated promptly. The server was very quick to take drink orders and was constantly filling water glasses during dinner. I had a glass of wine. My friends had the sangria and told me it was very tasty. Other friends had vodka martini drinks with lemon that were very refreshing. I ordered the miso soup, a skewer of shiitake mushrooms and a California roll. The food was priced reasonably: $3/miso, $2.50/skewer, $8/sauvignon blanc, $8/ roll. The seating was comfy in leather chairs and the ambience was refined. We had a lovely dinner and we will be back again soon!!!!

On Saturday, April 26, 2014, we were invited to RanGetsu's 67th Anniversary Celebration in Maitland, FL. RanGetsu welcomes you with complimentary valet and a relaxing ambiance. The lighting is dim all around to augment the modern styles within the restaurant. I recommend this restaurant as the hosts, waiters and waitresses work as a team to ensure that you have the best time you could possibly have at a restaurant!!! Every now and then, the general manager will come by, greet you and talk about your evening at RanGetsu! At 8:30pm, the Taiko Drummers performed a heart stopping show filled with power and emotions. However, not only are the ambiance and family of RanGetsu amazing, but also the food is absolutely distinctive and fit for a king! The Tuna Flatbread is raw seared tuna garnished with a sweet and spicy Asian slaw, avocado and crumbled feta cheese. The sweet and spicy Asian slaw heightened the fresh tuna. You can definitely taste both the sweetness and spiciness of the appetizer in every bite! French Bread Cheese Gratin contains 7 Imported Gorgonzola and Gruyere cheese sauce baked over French bread crostinis. This dish comes out sizzling hot and melts in your mouth. Not only is this great, but also ask your waiter for the story of what this dish represents! Next, we tried a sample of the sushi/sashimi menu that included seared Kobe beef, Blue Fin Tuna and Flounder. Each is simple with a light sauce on each to bring out the flavors of the main items. Not only does the flounder sashimi is appealing and contains a beautiful color to it, it had a few unique flavors brought out individually. The Sizzling Tofu is firm fried tofu served on a sizzling cast iron skillet with stir-fried vegetables and finished in tantalizing ginger teriyaki sauce. The tofu is great and can easily be cut apart to share - even with using only chopsticks - but it also doesn't fall apart on its own and make a mess! Together with the vegetables and ginger teriyaki sauce, it is a simple delight to enjoy after a long and tiring day. Although, if soaked in the sauce for too long, it may be a bit high in sodium, so make sure you enjoy it while it's hot! The Chilean Sea Bass Miso Teriyaki is perfectly baked sea bass to release its subtle and sweet flavor; it is served with a side of vegetables. The sea bass is subtle and sweet as they insisted it to be as well as fresh with a buttery texture! Sukiyaki is a traditional Nabe course describing thinly sliced Wagyu Kobe beef quickly simmered in a traditional sweet soy broth. This dish is cooked at your table and includes: the Wagyu Kobe beef, baby bok choy, enoki and shiitake mushrooms, napa cabbage, onions, tofu, and udon noodles. When they said it was served traditionally, you may first find it uneasy to be eating it all with raw scrambled egg, but it will add a buttery texture to each item of the dish! The sauce provides a sweet taste where the beef, etc can be enjoyed without the raw egg, but you won't want to eat it without the raw egg once you try it once! Last, but not least, dessert was served: Vanilla Ice Cream, Chocolate Cake and Green Tea Crème Brulee. Each item can be enjoyed individually, but mixing is also suggested! The ice cream was made just right and cannot be complained about because it has the right amount of sweetness! The chocolate cake is very fluffy/airy and mouthwatering! Mixing the chocolate cake with the vanilla ice cream as well as the fruit that comes with it creates a sense of heaven in your mouth for every bite you take!!! Personally, I enjoyed the Green Tea Crème Brulee more than ice cream and chocolate cake that night, as it was very, very smooth and cooling beneath its candied surface! Again, I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone who would like to experience fine dining alone or with family and friends! RanGetsu will satisfy you every visit there! It's quite possible you'll see me at a table when you decide to visit RanGetsu yourself! Also, after dinner, you could head over to the park within view of RanGetsu for a nice stroll!

My husband and I go here all the time. Great food and great service. Cecile is always our waitress by request she always has outstanding service. Favorite place for birthdays since you get a bento box meal free with ice cream. Inside is Japanese modern and the outside patio is beautiful but we have not had a chance to enjoy the outside view.

RanGetsu is my favorite restaurant & bar in Orlando. It's where I've celebrated my birthday for decades. From their more traditional International Drive complex with Koi Pond to their hipster, lakeside Maitland location with DJ, RanGetsu Maitland is #Millennial SoHo mets South Beach Sushi. Recently, RanGetsu celebrated their 67th anniversary with traditional Japanese drummers & festivities. Yet, their generous Happy Hour beckons me weekly. From their bartenders to their sushi chefs, RanGetsu delivers. Friendly & attentive, servers seem to enjoy their customers & occupations. Fundamentally, the owner is dedicated to giving his customers a positive experience. His commitment to excellent ambiance, quality, product & service is greatly appreciated. With family & friends, I've happily tried everything on the menu to our greatest satisfaction. Stop by, enjoy & you may find me there!

For the first week of this years' Orlando Magical Dining, my wife and I decided to try this location out. The atmosphere is lounge feeling, with a slight club vibe to it. There was a sizable outdoor patio as well as a decent bar area with some group couches. All in all, it seems like a great place to hang out in if I were to come just for drinks. That's not to say that it wasn't nice enough for dinner - it was! I'd like to sit at the sushi bar next time, too. The wait staff were all very friendly and attentive - our waitress kept my tiny water glass full most of the time! The food service itself felt a bit slow, but it was just the two of us and we weren't really drinking. The food was overall pretty good. I was disappointed with my robata sampler - it was chicken breast, chicken thigh, and mushroom skewers and they were a bit overdone. My wife had the calamari, and that was huge! I unfortunately don't like calamari and was unable to share it with her. The main dish consisted of Sukiyaki and I was surprised with it since I didn't know what I was getting in to. It's served table side with an open flame. It has thinly sliced beef with veggies and a sauce. Get it with the raw egg, it was awesome! My wife had a selection of sushi rolls and she enjoyed them. Once again, I don't like shrimp or crab, so I didn't have either. Dessert was passable, but not amazing. Certainly nothing to write home about. I tried the green tea creme brulee (sorry, don't know the number combo for the fancy letters) and my wife had the chocolate cake. We'd love to go back, but we very rarely find ourselves on that side of town. I certainly wouldn't say no if it came up again, though!

As a #GlutenFree guest, I greatly appreciate their knowledge of gfree and willingness to modify foods to make them safe for me (my favorites are the Florida roll and the Mexican roll) . It's a great atmosphere--beautiful decor, peaceful dining. Great selection of specialty cocktails! I suggest dining on the patio and toasting with an Orchid Moon cocktail.

I'm not sure what's up with RanGetsu, but lunch specials are no longer offered. In fact, they're not even open for lunch anymore. They used to have a pretty legit lunch menu featuring 2 rolls for $11.99 at most. There are plenty of businesses around to still be open for lunch, so I'm not sure where the issue is. Also, their happy hour has gone from decent to bad. 5 choices of sushi rolls for $5, one of which is a cali roll (yawn) and one is a spicy tuna roll. The other three rolls are fried. Fried rolls aren't my thing, so I can't recall their names. Everything else on the menu is $5, so I guess it can be a good deal. The weird thing about this place? They have their own phone app... but it would appear that this establishment is having issues bringing in clients. I hope that this is just a phase for them. :/

I stopped by RanGetsu for some lunch with our Lunch Bunch group. As soon as I walked in I was wowed by the space. In fact the outdoor patio was just as stylish. There were six of us for lunch. A couple in our group ordered some rolls to share before our lunch. I don't remember what rolls they were, probably because they were just ok. I went with the Salmon Bento Box. The Box came with a salad which I found quite tasty. Miso soup was also included, but I didn't really get a chance to eat all of mine because I was too busy conversing; and when they brought out my plate there wasn't much room for the soup so I had them just take it away. Half of our table ordered Bento Boxes while the half ordered the Lunch Sushi Roll Special. The Bento Boxes came out first while the plates of sushi took about another 8-10 minutes. They claimed they were hit with a bunch of orders at once, but not having the table all served at once is a big pet peeve of mine. My Bento Box was ok, the salmon didn't have much flavor, but I did enjoy the gyzoa. I'd like to come back and try their daily happy hour. It looks like some good deals are to be had. It's always nice when a place offers food as well as drinks on a happy hour menu. Combine that with the beautiful patio and some friends, it's sure to be a good time.

I heard about RanGetsu from a friend and decided to try it last night. We valet parked because it was complimentary. The hostess greeted us nicely and sat us quickly. The atmosphere is open, not too romantic and stuffy or too casual. It's pretty large inside. I really like their interior design and lighting. Anyway, I went during happy hour, where select appetizers and drinks are $5. I ordered 2 appetizers (robata and nigiri) and hot sake. The appetizers were both delicious and arrived fairly quickly. For my main course, I shared the sushi boat with my two friends. It was fresh, high quality fish and you could taste it. It came out in a reasonable amount of time. The sashimi and nigiri were both amazing. I didn't try their sushi rolls, but my friend said it was delicious. Unfortunately, although the food was amazing, our server wasn't. She was cold, did not check up on us, and didn't say anything except when asking for our order. The man who parked the car, on the other hand, was extremely friendly. Overall, I had a good experience here and will most likely be back for their nigiri. It's so good.

I really wanted to love RanGetsu. I've had a couple friends rave to me about it. I walked in and loved the modern decor, the LED's, the furniture. The whole place is a thing of beauty. That's about where my ill-fated love affair ended prematurely. The server was nice but relatively inattentive. It was a slow Sunday evening so either he was really slacking off or was working too large an area. I could cut this some slack in of itself because I was not in a terrible rush. We stuck to sushi, and went with the server's recommendations of what he liked best and what was most popular. All were terribly uninspiring and grossly overpriced. There are many sushi joints I would choose over ever RanGetsu. The wine list is shameful. They do have an interesting sounding menu of entree items and I would consider giving it another chance and trying something non-sushi. I'll update my review if that happens. I'm in no rush.

Let me start by saying this is our regular datenight spot and we love their patio! We have always received at a minimum decent service and have never been disappointed by their food! Recently while trying to make wedding plans we thought to ourselves what better place for out rehearsal dinner since it is out personal favorite... I called 4 times and left 3 separate messages and my fiancée called 2 times also leaving messages. No one has contacted us back. Pretty disappointed with that and it is the only reason I decided not to give the full 5 stars! Try the bay scallop roll, you won't be disappointed!

I recently enjoyed lunch here with the Lunch Bunch (3 stars) and I've enjoyed Happy Hour here, which I'd rate higher- 4 stars for the drink options and rolls. I was in an unusual position of having the most amazing sushi the night before so in comparison, nothing I had at lunch wowed me on the flavor factor. It was fine. Miso soup was just OK, not terrible flavorful. My rolls were fine, the crunchy spicy tuna wasn't terribly flavorful- or spicy or crunchy. I wish I had noted if the FL roll had been marked crab or Krab, since it was Krab and when the server described it she didn't mention "imitation". (I'm not a fan!!) Brown rice is a nice option for $1 per roll upcharge. They lunch specials are a nice deal if you are in the area and looking for sushi. The atmosphere is quite swanky and boasts a large dining area, bar area and outside patio area. I love the patio and it fills up quickly for Happy Hour. Service at our lunch was OK, our table of 6 seemed to overwhelm our server a bit. Pacing was off as the Bento boxes and cooked kitchen entrees came out significantly quicker than the sushi rolls. It took awhile for our table to get through lunch and get cashed out, so allow yourself some time. RanGetsu is steps away from Lake Lilly park, it was nice to stretch my legs for a bit before the meal and enjoy the day.

Decided to check this place out after a bad experience up the street. Best decision! The happy hour specials where so affordable and the food and drinks where amazing! I'd suggest sitting at the bar and hope the bar tender is John! Dude was amazing, energetic and engaging. I'd totally recommend this place simply based on meeting John. Best bartender I've had in a while!

Ate here earlier this week with a friend. Had not been to ran getsu since it moved from the international drive location some years ago. The sushi itself was delicious and beautifully prepared. Sadly, the service did not measure up to the sushi. Waitress was friendly enough but we had to wait a long time between courses and it took her ten minutes after we were seated to ask for drinks. Further, the ambience struck me as being "worn chic". Like.....5 years ago it would've been cool, now it's just "passe' ". The international drive location was great - looked like an authentic Kyoto style tea house. Now it's just like any other place that wants to serve "upscale sushi". A nice touch, however, was the manager coming over at the end of the meal to check on us. I would not be in any rush to go back but also would not take this off my list for future visits.

On your first trip, try going during happy hour, lots of menu items are super affordable during happy hour. If you're new to Sushi (like me) I highly suggest trying to cooked Sushi. We love the Pork Gyoza (dumplings aka pot stickers), the Mexican Roll is a staple for us, the Volcano Roll is amazing, and for a sweet/dessert treat try the Sweetheart Roll. Our favorite server is Sicily, she's super friendly and her attention to detail is outstanding. Btw, the outdoor patio area is dog friendly!

I barely use my Yelp account, but I decided to finally write a review about this place, because this is uncalled for. I never tried Rangetsu before with my girlfriend, but we live close by and decided to go there for New Years Eve. I had made reservations to Rangetsu, so I thought everything would be fine, but I was completely wrong. This place ruined our New Years Eve. First I get there for my reservation time and end up sitting over an hour and a half past my reservation time. I asked for the manager multiple times and he refused to come to see us. I walked to the bar and asked again to see a manager, who spoke broken english and instead of fixing the problem continued running around the restaurant, instead of getting us seated. Finally after about another hour passes the host gets us a seat in a horrible location by the bar. We waited over 20 minutes to even get greeted at our table, in which we asked to speak to the manager, which I am pretty sure was the owner. The server said he would go to get the manager and he still never came to our table. We decided to leave and it basically caused us to not enjoy the ball dropping and having a special time. The staff and service at this place is horrible and they don't treat customers right at all. Nothing was offered to us for waiting an hr and a half after our reservation time. The manager or owner did not act like "one" in anyway and did not fix the problem. After 2 hours plus of waiting to be seated when we had reservation and the horrible service by the wait staff and manager, we decided to leave. This is a horrible way to run a business and I am surprised their not out of business for how they treat the people who keep them around. I will never recommend this place to anyone.

My mom brought me to this restaurant last night. She had been here once before. The hosts were lovely and quickly walked us to a table. Within minutes we had menus and water. Our server Cecile was very sweet and gave us a great suggestion for an appetizer, The tuna on flatbread which we got and loved! We also chose 3 different rolls, Volcano, Snow White and Kamikazee. My favorite was the Volcano. The restaurant was beautiful and clean and the servers and food runners glided between tables. This is definitely a place is go back to!

I really like this place! They have great Happy Hour specials every day of the week. The atmosphere and decor are beautiful, the food is very good and the service is wonderful. Best of all, I love that I can walk here from house. Try the calamari, Bento Box and Pork Gyoza.

I fell in love with this place last night... hidden delight for sure! I had never been to the original location but this location in Maitland is perfect. The outdoor seating is a nice relaxing oasis full of big couches and plenty of space. The inside is like walking into a sexy, chic, modern club with the overhead music to match. However, it's not loud or overwhelming. It's gorgeous. From the liquid light walls, the mirrors on black mini tile walls and the huge, colorful light fixtures. The bar is gorgeous too, great spot to go grab some cocktails. The sushi bar and kitchen are open to the dining area which is a nice touch. The booths look super comfy but we sat at a table which was nice as well. The menu is a bit overwhelming but that is just all the more reason to return to try everything. I was craving sushi but then I saw Chilean Sea Bass marinated and glazed with miso teriyaki sauce on the menu and well... that pushed sushi to the appetizer and I HAD to try the Shrimp BLT roll with Shrimp, Bacon, Lettuce, Green Bell Pepper and Tomato. It was AWESOME! So delicious, I want one right now and it's only 8am as I type this. The entree came with soup or a salad and I went with the salad and it was yummo. I also had the Riesling to accompany dinner and it was refreshing. Now the Chilean Sea Bass, WOW!! Delicious! It came with baby carrots, broccolini, and these amazing potatoes that appeared to be breaded and pan seared or baked, just delicious. All the textures were perfect as well. What really made the plate was the miso teriyaki sauce, just delicious!!! We were so stuffed we saved no room for dessert... next time! Our server was fab and the manager came over and thanked us after our meal which was a lovely touch. Can't wait to go back!!

Beautiful decor and the menu looked great. We were seated and then ignored or forgotten about for 25 minutes. We got up to leave, walked past the empty hostess stand and went to nearby Fuji Sushi instead.

We ate outside because it was a gorgeous Florida night. It took a while for our server to find us. Hard to get water refills and fresh plates. Very un-eventful. Ordered the miso scallops. They came with zucchini which didn't go well. Very boring. Our kids would have enjoyed the blandness. The scallops were good but a mango or fruit salsa would been better. We also ordered the cream crab croquettes. It needed more crab and less cheese because it just oozed and was hard to eat with the chopsticks. We tried the volcano roll and it was ok. I shared all of this with the waitress and she suggested the tuna flatbread. It made up for the other boring items.

This is the second time I've visited Rangetsu. Both occasions I've have excellent food with excellent service. I tried both meat and vegetarian dishes and both were very satisfying. I will be back again. Note: patio dining is an option here, great view of Lake Lily in Maitland.

Stopped in for a drink at happy hour. Sat out back on the deck and since it was a little cool the staff turned on the gas heaters. Service was good. We tried an appetizer of spicy edamame and it was terrific. We heard the Sea Bass was great but didnt stick around for dinner. I'd go back

The food was delicious and the atmosphere was great. We had a large table and we were all able to hear each other with no problems. Our server and everyone else who assisted were all friendly and very accommodating. Happy hour specials on appetizers, sushi rolls and drinks can make it impossible to order an actual dinner, which is not a bad problem.

I eat a lot of sushi and I'm always trying out new spots to eat, so when I had heard about Rangetsu opening I took my family there to eat. The parking is a little difficult to find it you don't pay attention. Rangetsu is located on 17-92 but it is packed with other stores and an condo complex highrise (Village at Lake Lily). It was a slow and empty when we arrived late Saturday afternoon, so I'm not sure how things are during the evening. There is a lot of space and the bar is separated from the dining area. I like the booths as they are very spacious if you have a large group. Over all the sushi was good as well the soups and salads. The rolls were plentiful and skillfully made; they didn't fall apart. However I was disappointed by the cost. We didn't have any coupons and it wasn't during the happy hour.. I'd definitely go back if I could get some savings, but over all I found it more of night spot. A place to go for a business lunch or dinner. It's a very classy place so if you want to impress a date I think this would be a good place to go, but bring your wallet if you don't have any specials lined up.

Hard to imagine that I live upstairs and yesterday was my first time at Rangetsu but it's true. Will say - I plan on becoming a regular. I absolutely love their outdoor patio. I love even more that they allow me to bring my pups in with me. Oakley certainly made himself at home on the outdoor couches. Happy hour - love it! Didn't like that my 2 preferred happy hour beverages were not included as part of the happy hour discount. Did like that living at The Village at Lake Lily got me a discount. Enjoyed a shrimp tempura roll - my taste buds approve. Very excited that they now offer brunch on Sunday from 11am-3pm. $15 all you can drink mimosas and bloody marys - I plan on indulging. Overall, I had a GREAT first experience and I definitely plan on returning and enjoying more of their tasty menu options. I recommend sitting on the patio. They have a lounge section and normal dining section. Really great atmosphere.

Poor service, the food came out intermittently during our dinner, with entrees arriving for some of our party and then 20 minutes later everyone else got theirs, everything I ate was bland and overpriced, who charges $7 for a small bite sized piece of salmon on a skewer? Crab cakes tastes like a deep fried ball of mush! Would not go back to this place ever, one of my top 5 worst dining experiences ever

  • John S.

It was my first time and the last time dining there. I've eaten sushi in many different places around the globe, and I am pretty aware of what fresh fish is suppose to taste like. My first piece of nigiri was yellow tail belly, the chef surprised me with a bone in my fish. However, I decided not to complain and proceeded to wait for my "orchid boat" which is the biggest assortment of the fish you can order off of their menu. When the boat slowly (about an hour after I ordered it) sailed up to my table, it greeted me with a pungent smell of fish. Now, I've never ate sushi that smelled of fish, and I don't suggest anyone does. I brought that to the managers attention, although the customer service was good, and the manager tried to approach and fix my problem, I refused to eat fish there anymore. The manager couldn't give me the exact date when the fish arrived, nor was I served the type of fish I ordered; my tuna lovers would be able to tell the difference between the "Blue Fin" and the "Big eyed". However, I guess that would explain why everyone around me just stuck to traditional americanized dishes like "edamame" and "gyoza".

Gorgeous Space, Ideal Location, Impeccable Service, Chic Modern Lounge, One of a Kind Outdoor Patio in Orlando, Complimentary valet...Yet I left disappointed. Sadly, RanGetsu with all it's hype couldn't deliver on one, rather the only thing that counts in my book and will win my loyal patronage: FOOD. Don't get me wrong. The presentation and delivery was perfect,. The menu is spanned across to please even the most finicky of diners. For me, personally, the dishes were under seasoned and plan blah. I have even had better grade sushi. RanGestsu does get kudos for providing an ideal dining experience. That said, I left wondering since when did appearances count more?

After a year in Orlando... sad to say I only had a couple of places that I liked to frequent. And RanGetsu is one of them. It's definitely pricey... but, idk... I like the ambiance. I like the presentation of the food. And I like the servers :-) They might not get our orders right... but they err with flare haha... So, they make up for it! Mon is $1 ngiri night so we definitely liked Mondays here. The kids would get a bento box and load up on the starter prawn chips (yum!) My honey would LOAD UP and get his money's worth with the $1 ngiri... And I just love that everyone was happy. I took my honey here for his birthday (yes, it was a Monday haha...) And the staff was great. I wanted to surprise him with an awesome dessert. So, I picked up an ice cream cake and ice cream cookie sandwiches from Coldstone's Creamery and dropped them off at 2pm. So, that when we came for our dinner reservation he'd be surprised by the birthday dessert. Everything went off without a hitch! They took the cake out to defrost when we arrived so that everything was ready for us to enjoy after dinner. And, another time we ordered a bottle of plum wine. It wasn't cold enough for our liking so they comped us another chilled bottle to make up for it. Nice, right?!!!

I don't do reviews, I work in the industry and honestly I know that some people just have a bad night and things don't always go well. I live within walking distance from this place and love the atmosphere, but that is about it. I got to go food once, had hair in my miso soup...called the manager who was just like "sorry"....I let that go. Had to go food again they deliver to lake lily...and they forgot to deliver it so it had been sitting for 45 minutes...once again the manager just said "sorry"....once again I let that go. I went in about a month ago and sat outside (the hostess sat me) and nobody ever came...so I got up and left...again I let that go. Tonight I took my computer and walked over there to do school work and enjoy beers and a nice dinner. The hostess sat me and 5 minutes after me sat another table of 4...a server came out went to the party of 4 took their drink order looked at me sitting at the table and went back inside. I am a manager of a bar and if any of my servers ever saw a table and not even acknowledge them when they clearly have nothing on their table they would be let go. I have let so many incidents with this place go but this was the last straw for me. I will not be back.

All show and no go. This restaurant is beautiful and modern. The bathrooms are too cool. That being said, I don't go to a restaurant for the ambiance. The service was the worst I have ever had. Drinks were constantly empty and the waiter was forgetful and gave people incorrect drinks and no menus. The food was terrible. Spring rolls were the cheap frozen kind and the Yakisoba was greasy, bland, and over cooked. No one in my party finished their meals. For these prices you expect much better. I wouldn't pay for this food.

Best sushi in town! We try and come here at least once a week and all of the staff welcomes us back every time! Shandra is the best bartender! There happy hour is such a great deal too!

Had dinner here for Mother's Day. They never brought our calamari so we had to remind and they fixed it. The food was outstanding and I really like the atmosphere. The best sushi on this side of town. Great salads and desserts too. Green tea creme brulee... amazing!

I've been craving sukiyaki since I left my hometown of Cincinnati, and since it is no where to be found in the area I actually live in, I started scouting around Orlando for somewhere that would fulfill my sukiyaki craving. Rangetsu was my best bet - and I spent, I kid you not, months staring down the menu like a crazed person. I was so excited to get here and eat delicious beef. The place is a bit weird to find - I wouldn't say hard, but my GPS had us doing a very unnecessary U-turn, you can just turn left into it (or right....if coming the other way!) It tacked onto the end of a condo/apartment complex of some sort. It is quite nice and new on the exterior, and the interior is really stunningly beautiful. I absolutely loved the interior. It is very modern and well thought out. To start, my husband and I ordered the gyoza, which was delicious. The meat and seasoning was perfect - only complaint was that the sauc e was a bit watery and wasn't able to add much flavor. I would recommend them. I chose to get a bacon wrapped cherry tomato robata, and I wish we had gotten more! I want to come again and get various robata dishes as a meal. They were the BEST thing ever. Warm, ripe, delicious tomatoes wrapped in yummy crispy bacon with delicious seasonings to go along and dip in - YES! It was three pieces of heaven in my mouth. Just typing about it makes me want to hop in the car and drive the 14 hours down to Orlando to get some. We chose the Rengetsu sukiyaki with the chairman's reserve (not kobe) beef. I have done sukiyaki many times before, and while good here, I am a bit partial to being able to control it more myself. Every time I went to get the chop sticks to add more or take some out, someone hurried over to do it for me. While very great service, it felt a bit awkward, and we had less control over things. They mix their sauce (soy-sugar-sake) and mix with water at the table. I enjoy places that allow you to create the sauce yourself in the traditional way, but theirs is still very good and great if you are just starting. I can say my first experience trying to do all of this on my own was a mess, so I can appreciate their dedication to service and making the experience easy to the customer. The beef was a good quality and very delicious. The veggies were delicious, but I found that we did not have enough onions and a few other things. They do a raw egg 'dipping sauce' where they crack an egg, stir, and put a small shallow bowl in front of you. Your goodies from the pot are then put in the raw egg. It is good - I would say try it - but it is a risk. I personally shouldn't have taken it, but I did devour my food in it. I do too much for deliciousness :) We left full and happy. The experience was good and we really did enjoy the place - I would go back in a heartbeat, but I would focus on all that delicious robata on the menu!

Only saw the waitress 3 times. I am still waiting for her to get back as I write this review. I figured I might as well because Im not getting any water and im not getting any wine. This place wreaks with poor service. Nice lighting poor service. Small menu. Flatbread is really crackers are you kidding me. I guess that's why there so many empty tables. Worst dining experience in a long time. Going to taco bell after.

I tried this place with a bunch of friends. I give it three stars. The spicy edamame is really good, so is the sangria. The service is ratchet. We waited over 2 hours for our sushi on a Thursday night. It is alway very overpriced. I nearly fainted when I saw my bill. The sushi is pretty good, but nothing special or out of the ordinary. I would go back for happy hour.

Another trendy sushi and Asian-twist hotspot has nestled itself between Winter Park/Maitland. I really wanted to enjoy this place more. They have a value priced happy hour menu which has great drink specials for $5 and similarly priced smaller selection of appetizers and sushi rolls. The outdoor seating is the place to be with comfortable chairs with warm lighting and heaters for cooler evenings. The inside is equally inviting. Our service was prompt and courteous. However, we expect that so no bonus points. Instant loss of 1 star for fake crab in my sushi rolls. The highlight was the tuna cracker appetizer thingy and although good, it doesn't compare to the tuna tataki from Sushi Pop. The biggest downside dish was the fried pork belly with Asian sauce. Don't do it. My date almost gagged on fat. The other sushi and appetizer fare were pretty standard and nothing worth mentioning. Publix has better value if that says anything.

The decor was great, the service was great and the food was good. We ate several of the vegetarian tapas and three different vegetarian rolls. The spicy edamame was delicious and the regular vegetable roll was delicious. All the food was at least "good" and I'd say with the offerings that the restaurant qualifies as vegetarian and vegan friendly.

Sukiyaki Lunch. Thinly sliced NY strip cooked in a sweet soy sauce with assorted vegetables. The Sukiyaki was very good. I wasn't expecting this. It was a pleasant surprise. Rangetsu has a nice crowd for lunch. I would love the check out the evening menu and see what it's like. Great place. To the ladies, thank you so much ladies for the nail lessons and the great chat. Looking forward to many more meals together.

Let me start by saying: RanGetsu looks cool. When you walk in, you're greeted by a wall of those fluorescent bubble machines that were so prevalent in the 80s. You're enchanted by a cool, 3D ceiling. There are more fluorescent light fixtures on the wall that gradually change colors. If you've ever envisioned what Tokyo must be like because you're too poor to actually visit Tokyo, RanGetsu probably resembles that vision. I expect Tokyo to resemble a big disco ball. The background music is that bass-filled "dush dush" music. Spectacular. I'm not sure how the average person happens upon RanGetsu, as it's pretty much invisible. Located inside of a mostly vacant monstrosity (the condo+retail concept) near Lake Lily in Maitland, I'd driven by this place hundreds of times without noticing it. The only way I discovered it was by searching for participants in September's Magical Dining Month. RanGetsu was located the closest to The Enzian, so it became our MDM restaurant by default. After being razzle dazzled by the lights, we met our waitress. She was soft-spoken, friendly, and probably new so I forgave her for abandoning us for long periods of time, failing to refill our waters or ask if we wanted more liquor (which, of course, we did), and never returning with forks. Still, she was eager to explain the menu to us. "We're the only restaurant in Orlando that does Robata," she said. I was impressed, even if she didn't explain what the Hell robata means. Alcohol: My friend got this ginger beer + vodka concoction that tasted awful to me (ginger, blech) but made her tipsy and giggly halfway through. I was jealous because my vodka + champagne thingy failed to deliver similar results. Gnoshes: They give you a bowl of Prawn Chips, which are most likely multi-colored pieces of Styrofoam as they have absolutely no flavor. It's OK, however, as they are merely a vessel for transporting an amazing, spicy orange sauce into your pie hole. Appetizers: My Chicken Robata was chicken skewers and meatball skewers. It was a teeny portion, perhaps an MDM portion, but it was tasty and I scarfed it down due to intense hunger. My friend had the Shrimp Tempura Appetizer. Pretty standard tempura which she dipped into the addictive orange sauce that had accompanied the Styrofoam Chips. Entrées: I went with the Chilean Sea Bass, accompanied by vegetables and a huge serving of white rice. It was very flaky and not at all fishy, which is great because I personally hate when my fish tastes like fish. My friend chose the Sukiyaki, and again our waitress said they're the only restaurant in Orlando that does this. Sukiyaki is a hot plate filled with boiling beef broth in which you are asked to cook your own meat and veggies and noodles. It's kind of a gimmick since you're at a restaurant in avoidance of cooking anything for yourself, but it's fun to try once. As I calmly sat back and ate my sea bass, I watched my friend try to retrieve noodles and hunks of beef from the scalding liquid with a metal chopstick. It looked aggravating. Dessert: Green Tea Crème Brulee? Yes, please. I pretty much have to force down green tea on a daily basis because it tastes like garbage, but I didn't taste any green tea in this lovely little dessert. The custard was cold, but the dish it was served in was warm and the crust was hot. Interesting. My friend had Azuki Bean Ice Cream. I didn't have a bite, because it just sounds disgusting. She seemed please. Time it took from start to finish: 2 hours. Service is very, very slow. It's noticeably slow because there are long increments in which you have absolutely no food in front of you and no waiters around you. Our waitress kept disappearing, so we ate an insane amount of Styrofoam Chips. After we sat for 20 minutes with the bill, I flagged down a manager to check us out because our movie was due to start. Our waitress never came back to say goodbye after this. I still gave her a good tip because I had this sense that maybe her grandmother had died or something. It was nice to try RanGetsu for $30. Having given it a go, I can't imagine paying full prices for entrees (my Chilean Sea Bass, while good, is not worth $28), but I may return and pay to eat the cheaper sushi very slowly while surrounded by cool lights and that ever-present "dush dush" bass music. Tip: If you pull into the first driveway near the entrance, it appears as though you're required to do valet. If you're like me, you do the "Aww, damn" and sigh. Go in through the second driveway and there are plenty of free spots. I can understand paying for valet downtown in lieu of a garage, but why have valet in a fairly empty parking lot?

There's a part of me that wants to compare the new location to the old location. But you just can't. The old location was just so unique. But what I can do is evaluate the new location. It's a sushi house that's NYC trendy inside, nice decor Sushi was just ok nothing special. We all walked away saying we felt we could go anywhere to get the same quality of food at a better price. Total bill for 3 was $135 We all agreed our dining experience was nothing special and won't be rushing back.

If you ever patronized the old location on I-Drive in the attraction areas of Orlando, you're in for a let down. Just walking up to the old location you felt you were in Japan, walking through a Japanese garden, with a bridge to walk over a Koi pond, Japanese music playing softly, all no doubt for the theme park tourist trade. Yet locals like myself enjoyed the fare, the ambience, and cultural feel of the place. Well, let's begin with the new location. It's bad. It is located at the North end of the hideously garish and over scaled apartment complex on 17-92. Two things about the signage: I guess the son realized that no one would recognize the fancy restaurant sign so he put up a tacky $30 "Open" neon sign, and wedged in another sign with bold boring black letters saying "Japanese food, sushi, and bar..." Forget about ambience when you approach the entry. You're greeted in a parking lot behind the building which is mostly parking for the tenants of the huge, and did I mention hideously tall apartments above. Gone are the women in Kimonos. A millennial girl sheepishly welcomed us as we walked in all together and said to the first two of us "table for two?" And then asked would you like a table? Huh? As we sat down I asked the waitress if it was under the same ownership and she mentioned that the son now runs this location and the dad retired when they closed on I-Drive. The interior is very upscale and they did spend money on the look of the place. However, again, it pales in comparison to the former location. Lost is the feel of an authentic Japanese restaurant, were it not for the laughing Buddha on the bar, and the smattering of folding and fixed room dividers in the Japanese theme. Take those away and it can be any-kind-of-food restaurant. And forget about Japanese music. While I and my friends were there, there was a steady thumping of dance music in the background which made all of us thump our menus, fingers, and feet. Service was courteous but slow slow slow, and the place was empty at 6:30PM on a Wednesday, through it seems the bar and outside area had some action. I noticed a DJ booth, and asked why it was there. The waitress said they don't do Disco but parties bring in their own DJ usually on Friday and Saturday night. How old is this son that runs the place 20? That's just what patrons look forward to when going to a Japanese restaurant, booming dance music and a Disco Ball! Also, the bar area should be closed off more. Seeing big screens with ESPN on them doesn't add to the Japanese dining experience. Now on to the food. In a word "Tapas." Stick with those... really. They are all authentically done well and reminiscent of what was offered at the old location. The meals are high priced and not very Japanese in my opinion. I ordered the Teriyaki Chicken, and all I got after waiting for a while I might add, was a seemingly steamed thin chicken breast with sweet sticky sauce squiggled from a squeeze bottle, with a selection of limp over done vegetables, and when it came out, the plate looked like it was at the pass for a while as the sauce had a film on top and was not piping hot. We all sampled each other's dishes, all were good but still overpriced and not too well presented. In a word: Disappointing. So to sum up: This place's location is questionable, and time will tell if it succeeds. The restaurant needs a stronger identity. Is it a sports bar, or part time dance club, or a place to eat in a generic upscale interior that by the way offers Japanese food. The store front glass needs to be covered, and lose the "open" sign too, though that may be what they hope they will be a few months from now. At that location, those prices, slow service, and an identity crisis, I'm not so sure.

Went to RanGetsu with friends a few weeks ago, and I'm now a fan. I'm not enamored with the decor. I realize that RanGetsu offers entertainment and nightlife on the weekends, but i'm not a fan of eating in a nightclub. So, how's the food? Well, I'm impressed. Miso soup is something that everyone does, but few do right. This was perfect. Easily the best that I've had in FL and one of the best I've ever had. The sukiyaki stole my heart. Seriously. I'm craving it right now as I write this. I ordered the chairman's reserve, $16 less than the wagyu, but absolutely delicious. What is sukiyaki? Imagine a NY Strip, thin sliced and cooked tableside in sweet soy sauce with assorted vegetables. Add a raw egg to dip the meat and vegetables in before taking a bite and it's heaven on a plate. RanGetsu, you've made a fan for life,,

Like some of the other reviewers, I had been to the I-Drive location a few times, twice for my birthday. I had always liked the building with the bridge over the large koi pond and the huge windows looking out. I was sad to see it closed, and had not heard about its reopening in Maitland until I was brought here as a surprise. It's completely different now, definitely more modern and intimate feeling. Gone is the touristy drum show and the odd, I'm-not-sure-if-this-is-racist birthday celebration where they put a sumo wrestler costume on you and take your picture with a Polaroid. Thankfully, the reason why I loved Rangetsu remains -- the sukiyaki. If you haven't tried it, give it a shot. You get a hot pot filled with a seasoned broth, a selection of raw meat and veggies to cook in it, and (this part throws some people off but definitely do it) a dish of raw egg to dip the cooked bits in before eating. It's fantastic!

Just ok. I would go back for a skinny mojito and robata on the patio. But the rest I would skip. Sushi was fair at best--super salty and loosely rolled and overpriced. Bento boxes are better at Lola's. Music was too loud and it was half empty on a Friday night. Seito, Shin, and Sushi Pop have way better sushi.

I'm a fan of their Happy Hour. I live down the street and its not SUPER packed like most downtown places or restaurants. I was able to get a seat at the bar with my friend and enjoy a few cocktails, even after happy hour. The ambiance is club/lounge like near the bar decorated with clean glossy tops and leather seats. The bartender was still attentive while taking orders from the dining-servers. We did not eat much off the menu but it was fresh and presented well.

The best part about this restaurant is their outdoor patio! Lovely, with just the right amount of cozy sofa-style seating, covering and tiki torches. The inside is a bit more active -- fairly loud music. Great place for a girls' night out. Maybe not as desirable for a date. A little too noisy, hard to hear yourself talk. The food was good. The beef incredibly, if not a bit overpriced. The menu itself is a little overpriced compared to other similar restaurants I visit, but if you're into the ambiance outside or in the more active inside, then you just consider that's part of what you're paying for.

The decor of RanGetsu started out as "wow, yeah, this place is modern!" But the more I observed and studied it, the more it turned into "why am I expecting a Japanese mafia boss to be sitting in one of the booths doing business with other dirty old men surrounded by scantily-dressed Asian women?" Perhaps it was the color of the LED lights that illuminated various areas of the walls around the restaurant. It was somewhere between effervescent blue or purple when we were there last night. Very different from the pictures on their website where they seem to exude more of a warm tone. Or maybe I've just seen way too many movies. Our server was courteous and pleasant but was a tad on the slow side of things. There were too many moments where we just sat there without anything in front of us. We also noticed the lack of a sake menu. Did he just forget to bring us one or do they simply lack the variety of sake? I did end up ordering the Fiji Apple cocktail and I must admit it was delicious. But that's pretty much the only thing that left me feeling satisfied. When the food arrived, I was disappointed and I already went in there with low expectations. The food isn't bad, it's just way overpriced. The food isn't of low quality, but it's definitely not good. The sushi was not really that fresh and the rice was a tad on the tough side (perhaps it was undercooked?). The Tokyo Chicken dish was borderline ridiculous. The skin of the chicken tasted great, but the meat itself was dry and tasteless. The rice that came with that dish was also strange. I've never had rice that tasted like nothing, especially Japanese rice. Did they forget the salt? Did they cook it with old dishwater? For the price, the food at RanGetsu is definitely nowhere near worth it. I can get better quality sushi elsewhere at a cheaper price. I can also get better quality Japanese food in general elsewhere at a cheaper price. The only reason I'd come back to RanGetsu is perhaps to simply hang out with a few friends over a few drinks, by the bar or the outside area when it gets a little cooler. And even then I'd still be looking at the booths for the group of old men with their much-younger women feeding them sushi.

I really enjoyed my dinner last night at RanGetsu! The interior atmosphere reminds me of some of the trendy places I dinned at in Las Vegas and NYC. The bar area, dinning room, and outdoor patio are all beautiful. We ordered: vegetable gyoza appetizer: cooked perfectly and tasted great three different robatas: jagaimo, zucchini, and Salmon...all of them were tasty mahi-mahi entree: the fish was awesome and the rice was so good. crunchy veggie roll: This was a sushi roll made up of a vegetable spring roll and was pretty good, but nothing to write home about. Our server was very nice and attentive. We will definitely be going back and would recommend the bar (called Orchid Lounge and open till 2am some nights) or outside patio if you are looking for a new place to chill with your friends.

The decor totally overblows the food here. It reminded me of a Morimoto atmosphere with a Bikkuri menu choice. The bento is pretty good though, but really I wasn't that impressed with the place at all. I might return if a group of friends want to go for cocktails and a bite, but I wouldn't make it a number one meal choice destination.

My love and I walked in at 9:15 pm on a Sunday night not realizing that they close at 9 pm. They happily greeted and accommodated us. The service was amazing and so was the sushi and salmon steak. We did not feel rushed at all. They did not have the drinks that we wanted so they upgraded to a much more expensive drink and no extra charge. I think this will be my favorite sushi spot from now on.

We made reservations here at the last minute tonight based on the 4.5 stars on open table. We arrived 15 minutes early and we were seated immediately. The server came out promptly and made great recommendations. We ordered beer and sake. Sapporo (spelling?) was on tap! The sake tasted different than most but I was pleased with it, my man wasn't pleased with it. That, however, didn't change his opinion of the food. We ordered the dancing eel, volcano and the sweetheart rolls. We like sweet rolls and the sweetheart roll was like dessert....but I can't stress enough how good these rolls were! I was so hungry that I ordered a side salad. The side salad came out promptly. I don't eat slow and I started on the salad immediately but the sushi was out before I finished. The sushi was absolutely amazing! I seriously haven't had sushi this great since I have been in Orlando for the past year and a half. I also had the key lime pie which was phenomenal. We sat outside and our waitress was very attentive and I noted how the waitress at the table nearest us (which was honestly far away..unexpectedly given our experience) was very attentive as well...she was even really sweet to their baby who was constantly looking for her. I think what surprised me even more was the low rating on Yelp. However, I figure that it will be our little hidden gem until yelpers get that rating up! :)

My bf and I love this spot. It's trendy without being too trendy, if you know what I mean. You can dress up without having that paranoia of "am I too dressed up?" but also you needn't feel pressured into being impeccably dressed. The first time we visited Rangetsu we sat at the sushi bar as we're always keen to get a peak at the sushi chefs in action. The service was great and we chatted with one of the chefs while he made our delicious dinner-- we ordered all sushi. The following visit we sat at a table and as we arrived quite late in the evening the place was very quiet-- which for me is a welcomed treat. Our server was so attentive, but not suffocatingly so. We ordered sushi as an appetizer and then both had bento boxes which gives you the opportunity to select 4 different things to try. All were delicious-- the kalbi & salmon especially so. One thing I would go here for every single day is their green tea creme brulee-- amazing. Also, the green tea tiramisu is divine.

Let me first start by saying that the interior decorating for this restaurant is beautiful and very modern. but the food was ehh .. alright I had the chilean sea bass, the sauce was good but the fish wasn't fresh. My father had the fire noodles he said it was okay, but kinda something like you can prepare at home in 10 min. My brother had the steak which was salty. We also some sushi, forgot what rolls we had, but i would say, the sushi was the only good thing about the meal.

I loved rangetsu back then when it was on I-drive. I loved the ambience and the authentic Japanese cuisine they offered. I was saddened when they decided to close down. So, with the new opening in Maitland, I decided to try it out. It's a beautiful and more modern place, which I love. I also love how they kept most of their menu items. I decided to try one of their new items and I ordered the wrong thing. I thought I had ordered a noodle soup, but ended up being a stir fry (Fire Noodles?). It tasted okay, but wasn't worth the price and it was definitely something I could have made at home. My friend enjoyed the udon though and we ordered the tofu cheesecake, which was interesting and good; but wasn't great. I still suggest this restaurant, just don't order the Fire Noodles. I will be back to try more of their new menu items.

I've driven by Rangestu a number of times, but decided last night when looking for a new sushi place to give it a shot. My dining companions and I were not disappointed. As many of the reviewers here say, the place is beautiful. There are slowly color-changing ambient lights everywhere, fiber optic lighting embedded in the bar, cool artwork and interesting finishes throughout. The electronic music they were pumping through the speakers was the icing on the cake. Our waitress was helpful and conversational, and pointed us in the right direction on a few options. We started with a Robata Fish Sampler that included small bites of Tuna, Salmon, Scallops and Shrimp on skewers with a delicious Soy Sauce Butter. We kept the butter around to dip our sushi in it was that good. The sushi we ordered was fresh and tasty - the Birthday Roll, the Eel Volcano Roll (*amazing*), and the Golden Roll. We also got the Tuna Carpaccio, which despite having somewhat out-of-place Italian flavors (garlic and basil pesto) was delicious and devoured in no time. Afterwards we swung by the bar as they had just debuted some new cocktails that sounded intriguing. I ordered the cucumber-jalapeno martini simply because it piqued my interest and was in fact quite good - maybe with a few tweaks it would be outstanding (I was expecting a bit more heat). My companions had a dragonberry martini and lychee martini, both of which were nice as well. We will definitely be coming back to Rangetsu - if they keep this up it'll be our new sushi spot.

Stunningly beautiful modern restaurant located on Lake Lily in Maitland. Walking up to the entrance you are greeted with a very chic outdoor dining area. Inside... well, it's bigger on the inside (really), and it's gorgeous to boot. That definitely has a big effect on my rating. I have visited twice for lunch, which I highly recommend - their specials are a steal. For about $8 you can order two rolls, which come with either miso soup or ginger salad and a tasty little bowl of sunomono (cucumber and seaweed salad). I added some sashimi uni to my order and the whole thing came out to under 15 bucks. The uni was a reasonable portion and tasted fresh, and the presentation of the sashimi was artfully done. The yellowtail and eel rolls were ok but didn't blow me away, Roll-wise they could be improved upon, the eel was a little on the flavorless side but the tuna was all right. I may stick to sashimi/nigiri for my next trip. My family each ordered a different bento lunch (chicken teriyaki and vegetable tempura), both of which came with a huge amount of food. Service was attentive and friendly, and accommodated a request for a fork without any issue. Definitely give them a try, the atmosphere alone is worth it - I imagine it must look amazing at night.

I went there for the first time this past week for a friend's birthday celebration, and it was amazing! The atmosphere is very trendy and chic; I loved the lounge setup outside and the one that's tucked off into the corner too. The lighting is gorgeous and ambient without being too flashy, and the overall decor of the restaurant is really relaxing. Our server was also polite and funny, as was the girl she was training. As for the food, I went during dinner and got the bento box for $16 (I got the Cali roll, robata, chicken teriyaki, and gyoza) and it was delicious! The shrimp chips appetizer was also awesome too, especially with the spicy sauce that they came with... and I don't even like things with a distinct shrimp taste. Overall, a good deal for the amount of food, especially considering that other Japanese/Pan-Asian themed restaurants charge more for mediocre bento setups. Plus, it's just an enjoyable place to be.

We used to go to Rangetsu on International Drive every week, and were sad when it closed. Now, years later, this loosely affiliated version has opened in Maitland. It's much trendier than the old one, but sadly the food isn't quite as good. If you like sitting at a sushi bar, this isn't the place to go, because the sushi bar is small and a wall of plywood blocks your view of the chefs' work. But if you want sushi at your table, or like the idea that the place turns into a dance club late at night, then it's a good bet. One of my favorite sushi rolls was the old Rangetsu's mayo and wasabi laced dynamite roll, and happily they have that at this new location. Note that parking is mostly by valet, even at off hours.

I have been here a bunch of times. I like it because I am a big sushi fan - my wife is not so much. We can both get what we want in the same place! I love the spicy tuna, eel, and volcano rolls. We also shared the sea bass (awesome!) and chicken and veggie noodles. I would definitely give it a shot - i took a guy who used to live in Japan there for dinner one night, even he was very impressed with the quality of the sushi! One other cool thing is if you are waiting at the bar, i love how they put fiber optics in the bar to light it up - nice touch.

Ok compared to the last location this place scream über upscale/modern whereas the last location was more a traditional Japanese/garden decor. The place looks amazing inside, def the perfect place for a casual/romantic night with your significant other or to hangout with some friends, the atmosphere is a great setting for either occasion. The menu seem to have changed quite a bit from what I remember in the last location. The food and sushi here is good but it's overpriced. I think the new decor gave them a justifiable reason for the steep prices. This place is great to have a nice full-out special dinner experience, but you are just looking to have some food sushi, better and much cheaper sushi can be had at other places for a fraction of the price.

I would give it 5 stars had my server not thought that I was invisible. I sat at the sushi bar and had 5 star service from John. He was my sushi chef as well as my server! He and Damien made my dinner experience enjoyable and pleasant. My server left a lot to be desired. The sushi chefs were extremely busy with take out orders as it was raining out, but still engaged in fun filled conversation with me. I was highly impressed with the two of them. They answered all my questions about the different rolls they were making! I got a great education at the same time. I have now found my go to spot for sushi!

We ate here this past Saturday night, unfortunately we were in a hurry to get to a show, Sally our server was wonderful - she took great care of us - recommended the tuna flatbread.....it was A MAY ZING!!! Followed by Miso soup and a salad with ginger dressing.....very, very good. Then came our main dish - the Chilean Sea Bass - oh my goodness....it practically melted in my mouth....fantastic!!! We WILL eat here again!!!!

I order from Rangetsu all the time...I'd say once a week, because their sushi is very good and I like their gourmet rolls. I would give this place 5 stars, but half the time my orders are wrong or theyre kind of chincy with the portions, so that's not very impressive to me...I also don't like that they charge an additional fee for brown rice on the sushi rolls. Seriously, does a rice change warrant a $2 up charge per roll?! I can get a 20lb bag for that price! However, I will say that the sushi is pretty good when they get the order right!

I can't believe I worked less than 2 miles away from this place for a year and only went recently. I hit up RanGetsu twice for lunch with some co-workers and I absolutely loved it. We sat out on the patio with nice (gorgeous) red couches, umbrellas, & big trees. It was so sexy & relaxing! I have to point out that they have an awesome lunch deal - $7.99 for 2 rolls, miso soup or salad, and a fresh crab & cucumber dish. Seriously. $7.99? And it's actually good. Both times that I went, we had great service - they are friendly & the food comes out quick. I have heard that this place turns into some what of a night club but unfortunately for you I haven't been so I can't give any reviews about that aspect but if you're looking for a great & cheap lunch spot, definitely give them a shot!

I was having a major sushi craving, but my mother is slow to come over to the raw side. So we decided to try Rangetsu based on the reviews and the varied menu. I tend to prefer "holes in the wall" versus "chic and trendy" restaurants. I would categorize Rangetsu as the latter with it's light wall and trendy dark interior, but the outside patio area was lovely and simple. The crab croquette appetizer was spectacular. It was creamier and richer than a crab cake and came with an intense-in-a-good-way cabernet sauce. The sushi, on the other hand, was disappointing. I felt that the choices were mostly "americanized" sushi and there weren't as many raw options as I'd hoped for. I got a spicy tuna roll (my standby for comparing) and the dynamite roll. I also sampled my friend's mexican roll and my mom's shrimp tempura roll. The soy sauce was WAY too salty for my taste, and I felt that all the sushi was over-spiced. The spice flavor overwhelmed the fish. The fish itself was a bit slimy and rubbery; it didn't taste very fresh. The exception was the shrimp tempura roll; that was fine flavor-wise, but nothing to write home about. Maybe more of the non-sushi items are good, as the crab croquette certainly was. But I wouldn't recommend going for the sushi.

Great Happy Hour Monday - Friday 5 - 7pm. Drink specials and great price on sushi rolls. Monday - Thursday each night they also have another special option. Service is great and the decor is modern and chic. I would recommend this this place to sushi and Asian food lovers.

I love all the food from Rangetsu. The managers all so polite and very nice. I have been going there since 1992 when they were on International Drive location. This new place is smaller but with updated decor. Food is still great and the service is still awesome.

I was super excited to get to try Ran Getsu with a friend of mine about a week or so ago. I had been to eat in their restaurant when it was on International Drive but now that it has moved and also has the Orchid Lounge, I was interested to see the difference. I remember it being open and bright with a huge koi pond outside ... this time around, in Maitland, it is more modern and edgy inside. Its walls all light up in fluorescents that change every few seconds and there is a lounge outside with red and black seating. So different yet soooo cool. We were sat at a table in the center of the dining room and were immediately greeted by our server. We ordered the Conch Ceviche as an appetizer which is citrus marinated conch, vegetables and apple geleé. The flavor itself was delicious but as my friend said, it was a little underwhelming. The conch pieces were few and far between but mix that with the apple geleé and it didn't matter. Delicious. I do want to mention that I had a Rising Sun Cocktail and was floored by how sweetly delicious it was. It's a combo of Grey Goose Pear with Chambord and White Cranberry Juice. It's also very pretty. My photos do it not justice. We had a lot of sushi & sashimi come to our table. It was weird though. It came out in a weird order and at random times. Instead of coming out all at once, they would randomly bring us plates and even after I ordered an ADDITION it came out before our original order. Just wanted to quickly note that. I ordered a Spider Roll and I loved their presentation. They made a spider web out of spicy mayo and the roll itself was perfect, in appearance and in taste. It is soft shell crab with avocado, cucumber and eel sauce. I also had the Dragon Roll which is just Unagi Eel Roll with Avocado (LOTS of it) on top. You all know how much I adore avocado. It was heaven. They might have put too much avocado which I didn't think was possible but it was beautiful and heavenly nonetheless. :) My dear friend ordered a Dynamite Roll which is a roll with assorted fish, asparagus & Wasabi-Mayo sauce. It had an interesting taste but I much enjoyed the hint of that Wasabi in it. Good choice. He also had the Sashimi Dinner that came with the Chef's Choice of 5 sashimi. I had a couple of pieces of Salmon Sashimi myself so yes there was a lot of food. To top off the dinner, we had the Green Tea Tiramisu to share. Now I don't even like normal tiramisu and I'm not a tea person either. Like at all. But with the fresh berries and the whipped cream concoction, this layered green delight was fabulous. I'm glad we got it. I would definitely get it again. Overall the experience was fantastic. I would like to go again and try a few more things (including more yummy cocktails) and would highly recommend you to try this place out if you haven't already. FABulous.

The restaurant is very hip! Great for younger people 20 to 40s. ( We are 60s and one 86 involved.) Almost like night club atomosphere. We had lunch over there. Food is good. Three of us took, Tempra Bento, Tempra udon and pan fried udon. Every thing was good except fried udon. Service was great. We thank Mr Kikuchi/ General Manager for his devotion to work.

An ad in Orlando Weekly drew me in stating that Thursday night is ladies night (for Orchid Lounge in RanGetsu,) and there will be half off drinks along with a DJ. Although this place is beautiful I am not too fond of mislead advertising. The service and it's beauty made it pretty likable regardless. The pinkish blue lighting with the glass fountain made the bar sophisticated sheek. This is definitely one of those places that I would love to dress up for no reason on a weekday and go here with friends for "just because we can" martinis. I was pleased for a second because I found the famous Tokyo Tea on the menu which is green tea and sake but told me they couldn't serve it because they were already out of tea for the night. Boo. However second time was a charm because I ordered the Rising Sun and my friend ordered the Tokyo Twist. These fancy drinks are worth the full price, I was literally astonished by both martinis! The Rising Sun is grey goose with a cranberry juice at the bottom of the drink and it looks like the cranberry juice is rising to the top like a sun. Tokyo twist is by far one of the most delicious fresh lemon juice drinks with vodka. I would come back here for drinks with the expectation that Orchid Lounge ladies night might not be here.

My favorite place for sushi in Orlando. Happy hours $5 specials very good. Fish is always fresh, sushi selection decent and do accommodate special requests. Had tried the dinner bento Box, nice you can select from a variety of option in essence, you choose all the options.

Wasabi's Yelp review hits it right on the nose: Good for drinking, not great for eating. And to add on, it's not great for socializing either. Well, not anymore if it ever was. My buddy Steven and I took a trip to the northern part of Orlando for a munchies & a few drinks as well as check out the new Ran Getsu. We were expecting Orchid Lounge with a DJ to start playing sometime after our arrival. That didn't happen. After talking with one of the attractive servers, I found out that Orchid Lounge is going to be only for private parties and select events due to their low turnout (and probably wasn't profitable enough.) So much for that. As for food, there wasn't anything special about the sushi rolls we ordered. I might have to go back and try the more unique ones to confirm. A funny thing did happen, one of the bar guys was bashing on Kobe. Even gave me a lesson in sake too: it's usually cold and hot sake is of the low-quality variety that they microwave. Is it true? Who knows, I don't really care. Just gimme my cheap booze. My throat is bothering me and I want to clear it with acid. But thanks for the heads up.

Not a friendly place. The hostess not honoring reservations. The restaurant didn't look too busy, but couldn't get us a table. Made a reservation online but according to one of the hostesses (there were 3 of them at the front desk) the table was not available. Offered to sit outside in a 90degree heat or at the bar. No compromises... No excuses... Bad attitude... Food is OK... Drinks are pretty good... The service needs improvement.

I am giving Ran Getsu 4 stars because of the great service and the beautiful decor and atmosphere. The food was so-so but, I will definitely go back for drinks and to enjoy this trendy South Beach style space. The green tea and red bean ice creams are also very yummy!

On Aug. 20th Ashley and I decided to get some sushi. She told me about this place and said it was very nice. She had visited during a lunch break one day to scope it out. We made reservations but upon arrival you could see that they weren't necessary. The place looks really amazing when you walk through the door. Low lighting from the ceiling. Block structures on the wall are back lit with small LED's. There is some additional creative lighting on the wall closest to 17/92 that has moving parts and changes the lighting. Sorry for the poor description, you have to see it. Sitting down you see speakers in the corners of the room near the ceiling, Ashley said she believed it turned into some sort of dance/night club later. Interesting. I have to admit I was a little shocked at the lack of business going on, so I was hesitant at first. The service was very good. Everyone smiled, seemed attentive to our needs, didn't bother us and the food arrived in a decent time. I asked Ashley to order my roll since I am interested in trying new things and she is the sushi expert. :) She ordered the volcano roll for me. Which consists of "Scallop with masago mayo sauce on a California Roll" Very tasty and I recommend it! The presentation was good, nothing fancy, but attractive. The size of the roll was very good for the amount I received and the price. I have to admit I dont remember what Ashley ordered, its hard keeping up with her exotic choices at times. After our entree, we both discussed that the rolls were delicious and it was time to try some dessert. Ashley isn't big on desserts, but I saw godiva chocolate cake and couldn't resist!! They bring out two large slices of a very moist and warm Godiva chocolate cake. Godiva chocolate was dripped over both pieces, but not too much to saturate the cake. Just enough to get a hint, to bring you back for more. One small scoop of vanilla ice cream on top and a few berries to the side. It was amazing!! Ashley even liked it!! Yum! So, I've found a new place for sushi and great dessert thanks for Ashley. I will definitely be back for another round soon!

The first time I went here it was a Sunday right when they opened. The service was amazing and the food was better. Everything was perfectly prepared. The experience was enough to bring me back for another visit. The second time was a Friday night. The restaurant was moderately busy. I had a waitress who was unfamiliar with the menu, and whose attention span was mediocre, at best. The food was decent. The calamari was overcooked, and the sushi was sloppily assembled. I am definitely willing to give Rangetsu another chance, since my first experience would have earned five stars. My advice would be to go on an off hour.

Amazing location, free valet parking, indoor dining and club/bar, outdoor dining & cocktail service. The sampling of appetizers, sushi and sashimi I had was delicious. Chic atmosphere, can be a little loud inside at times. Some items were pricey, but you can shop a range of items including some great traditional japanese dishes. A great addition to the Maitland neighborhood!

I'm new to sushi but my wife has been convincing me to love it. A living social deal brought us to this place. Not a bad deal either; $25 for $50 worth of food. With that amount we were able to get an appetizer, two entrees, and we shared a dessert. Service was great. We had dinner late at 8pm on a Sunday and the place was practically empty. Our waitress recommended a lot of different tasty menu items and I tried sashimi for the first time. We will probably be back!

Hubby and I drive by RanGestu several times a week (it's just down the street from us) however never went in. Finally decided to try it for a late dinner a couple of weeks ago. The decor was modern and chic with a quiet environment. We sat in one of their large comfy booths. We both ordered their affordable Bento boxes (you get to pick 4 different items from a menu of ~16 items). It came with rice and miso soup or salad. All items were tasty and fresh! We are back tonight with family. Service was much slower than our previous visit(which is why I have time to write a review while I waited). In laws and I ordered the bento box (which I'm super hungry and excited to eat!) hubby got the loco moco (hamburger pattry, chicken or salmon with rice and eggs) and grandpa got the shrimp tempura udon. Food finally arrived and it was as delicous as I remembered. My bento box consisted of chicken kara age (very tender), Florida roll, vegetable tempura and kaisen chirashi don...nom nom! The rest of the family enjoyed their dishes as well, just wished it didn't take 2 hours to have dinner.

This place is pretty amazing. The decor and atmosphere is one of a kind. They definitely spent well over a million dollars in this place. As for the food I was very surprised by how everything tasted. Each of the sushi rolls were amazing. The Golden and Volcano rolls were my favorite. I am definitely going to be a regular here if they keep up the quality of their sushi. My only compliant is that I wish the rolls were a little larger but that is wishful thinking. Give Ran Getsu a try and you will not regret it.

A new favorite! Cool atmosphere, wonderful service, great place to go when you want something different from the Winter Park Village franchises...it's a gem for Maitland. 'Had the pleasure of meeting one of the owners on my first visit and was impressed by the amount of thought and research that went into the design of the place and by its Tokyo roots. My first experience was very good, with the only minor disappointment being that I'm not impressed by "krab" in sushi, but when I mentioned that on the second visit, they offered to substitute my favorite, spicy tuna, instead, which was great! They have some unique items on the menu like veggie skewers (the name is escaping me) that are a great addition to a meal of sushi! Makes a great date night, girls night out, or a family dinner. You can dress up or down here, too.

I visited Ran-Getsu on a Friday evening with a group to celebrate one of our friend's birthday. On Thursday-Saturday night, Ran-Getsu turns into an Orchid Lounge. This is definitely a unique and different concept that has not been done before, especially in the Maitland area. The décor is very urban, modern chic. They have outdoor patio seating with comfortable seating, very South Beach-esque. There were many different lighting effects throughout the dining room, bar area, and even in the restroom! We sat in the patio area for a late night dinner while waiting for the transition into Orchid Lounge. There was very little lighting except for a mini candle at each table making it very hard to read the menu. There's also a railroad track right behind the complex and was a bit of a loud disturbance as it went by. Good thing it only happened once and it's not something that can prevented. They also need some sort of insect repellent to keep the mosquitoes away because not only myself, but others in my party got bit up when we were out there... But the couches were pretty comfortable. Our server on this particular was somewhat slow and not very present during our visit. She did not attempt to strike any conversation or was not very knowledgeable about the menu. She was not able to answer questions when it came to the food menu, and especially the drinks. When she brought out the sushi, she did not bring us any soy sauce or sauce cups to go with it, which should be automatic with a sushi order. Upon leaving the restaurant, there were servers, managers, and hostess around the front door area and we were not thanked for our business or even acknowledged as we went out the doors. I'm not a diva or anything, but it's only courteous too. We ordered about 7 rolls to share at our end of the table, and overall, it was good but nothing extra ordinary about it. The bagel tempura roll was probably my favorite which has salmon, cream cheese, cucumber, krab, and scallion- tempura style. I also enjoyed the spider roll. The most disappointing of all was the lobster tempura roll. If I'm going to be paying $15 for a roll, I expect it to be something pretty awesome, this was not. I've had the lobster roll elsewhere, and this definitely falls below the par. Overall, the atmosphere gives off a fun and vibrant aura, the food and service was nothing impressive. They definitely did not make a great first impression for me, and I'm hesitant to give it another chance. Maybe I'll give it a couple months before I consider coming back again.

ate there last night and it was a disaster. miso soup arrived luke warm which did not bode well. the three other meals arrived and finished before i got my sashimi dinner. the sushi/sashimi not in tune with the hot food. no little dish for the wasai and soy sauce without begging. we complained and ultimately got 50% off my meal and 10% off the other 3. food itself was excellent but the chaos in serving the food in a timely fashion spoiled things. hope next time the serving is under control.

I wish I had a chance to try out RanGetsu's former I-Drive location because then I would have had something to compare it to. But I must say my meal was spectacular! To begin with, the atmosphere is very trendy, chic & upscale - which I believe is a complete 180 from the previous location that was much more traditional. But being that the parent restaurant continues to operate in Japan and the owner operated the I-Drive restaurant for 20 years before shutting it down, I believe this menu is probably a perfect mix of traditional Japanese cuisine with stuff that the American palate can handle. Along with the fantastic sushi rolls, the menu also has robata and something they call "Suki Yaki," where they bring you out raw beef with veggies and sauces and you grill it yourself on a small tabletop grill. The red wine sauce was KILLA! I've read about Suki Yaki and I believe it and Shabu Shabu are usually done by cooking the meat in a hot soup or something. But this one was absolutely delicious -- and this is coming from someone who doesn't really care for beef!!! I topped off my meal with the green tea creme brulee, which I still am dreaming about!! I can't wait to get back again!!!

First of all, I'm torn about writing this note because members of management were amazingly nice when I discussed this issue with them. However, it is important for vegetarians to know that many of the menu items marked "vegetarian" (with a symbol), are NOT vegetarian. Every soup is made in fish stock whether it is marked vegetarian or not. My vegetarian soup had "fish cakes" in it addition to the fish stock. Disappointing discovery, for sure.

I enjoy the food here. It's pushed as kind of a "trendy" place with 80's bubble walls when you enter and fancy color changing LED walls. I could care less about all that the food should be the star. The sushi is always fresh and good. The birthday roll is one of my favorite's. My wife has had pork and robata which have been great as well. The reason for the 3 stars is again service is lacking. Maybe if you sit at the bar or sushi bar it's better but tables seem to wait. Also the floors are just painted and the sound is amplified it gets loud.

Oh Boy. I have been there 3x. The first time was pretty good and subsequent visits just went downhill. The last visit the girl who sat me did not know of they had a children's menu. Then our waiter let is order our drinks and came back and told us neither of our drinks were available! When I asked a bit more about why they did not have the Skinny Mojito he stated they had been out of it for 3 days! Then I noticed a great deal had changed. He was pushing a gruyere cheese bread but this is a sushi joint....We received our sushi (without the tempura chips they used to serve) but one appeared to contain imitation crab. At first I did not say anything to by hubby, but then after the second piece I asked him, is this imitation crab. He responded yup....if its not it tastes just like it, both of which are just not good. We went on a Sunday which was kids night therefore free fried ice cream, however it was not fried, just a scoop of vanilla which of course my 2.5 year loved anyway. Sorry cannot go back.

I am updating my review due to a few recent visits to this restaurant that were much better than my initial review gave it credit for. We initially went when it first opened and they might have just not gotten their act together yet. Our last few visits to this restaurant have been really good and it's now on our favorite restaurants list. The ambiance is great, especially outside on a nice day/night. The service was wonderful. On our last visit we had the Golden roll, Philly roll (their own take on the original), the calamari, and the udon soup. Everything was delicious. The food came out fresh, hot and in the right order. The service was very friendly, prompt and professional. From where we were sitting outside we had views of Lake Lily and Lake Maitland I think it is. It was really beautiful. You pay a little more than you would at a strip mall sushi place but for a date night or night out with friends I think it's worth it. The inside is very trendy and upscale and the bathrooms are really cool! I love the sink! The address is Maitland but this place is very close to Winter Park Village. I would definitely recommend this place for a date or just a nice evening out.

Pro's: Great taste, ordered the bento box and it gives you 4 things to choose from, great way to taste different things all at once. Also I ordered something that wasn't on the menu and they made it for me at no extra cost. Beautiful decor and atmosphere. Nice customer service, very polite and patient. Complimentary valet. Con's: food was cold when it came out, my boyfriend and I sat for a little while without water and I was given the wrong rice.

We came to Rangetsu because they have a new Gluten Free menu (Pictures Below, 08/28/15). As you can see in their menu, they have several options, from salads to tapas to their Rabata Grill and of course Rolls and Entrees. Even though they have Gluten Free Tempura, it is pointless because they DO NOT have a dedicated GF fryer. They have 1 shared/common fryer and so my wife who has Celiac would get very sick. I don't know of many people who have a gluten allergy, that would be okay with a shared fryer. Still, there are many other options in their menu, including Gluten Free Soy Sauce. My wife had grilled salmon and veggies with scallops from the rabata grill. Her dished came with salada and gluten free dressing. My sister and I shared their steak Sukiyaki - First time for me but loved it. It was a nice experience!

Our first few minutes here weren't the best.... it took 15 minutes for a server to come to our table, and only after we asked why they hadn't been there yet. But after that, the experience was great. We especially appreciated that they were very knowledgeable and accommodating to our gluten free needs. The ambiance and decor is excellent and the food quality was great. I would recommend a visit and we will return again, I'm sure.

Rangetsu maintains a very nice contemporary atmosphere and high quality traditional Japanese fare. I've reduced my stars to three however due to a recent 2 to 4 dollar price increase across the menu and shorting of happy hour. (now with higher prices and less time) this makes overlooking the slower service far more difficult. Don't get me wrong this is still a good date night location the atmosphere alone makes it worth that and your food will be tasty. I recommend most anything off the robata grill and the broth in the hot pots is sublime, but avoid the sushi. It is quality but overpriced for this area.

I would love to put my 2 cents into this place. Maybe the value of food for the money isn't great but, but ..But this place is pretty different and beautiful and try on, on happy hour!!Ive been coming here since 2011 and a few things i will tip you on : get a sit by the bar, the bartender is so sweet, honest and whole the way, amazing!!! They have 6 days a week happy hour( most places have 5 days) You just have to try their Florida happy hour roll. It's good, as well as calamari. You won't feel sorry. Rangetsu is fun and a very exceptional experience. Especially if they got some sort of anniversary. Who don't like the Japanese drummers as a special treat ? I do

This has been on the list of "we want to go here" for over a year.....the time finally came. I am not a sushi guy, as I prefer my fish cooked, so I won't be of any help to you on that end. The restaurant itself was quite modern inside, you can tell they spent a good bit of money with the decor (even the bathrooms have lit up countertops). The ambiance was very relaxed, and the food presentation was all done up with great presentation. They also get a plus for a large patio just off of Lake Lily. Our server was excellent, she went over the entire menu with us, and took time to let us know what was the specialty of the restaurant. We ended up going with the Sukiyaki, which threw both my wife and I off with the thought of dipping everything in a raw egg. After trying this, you must embrace the egg. The flavor profile is so much richer, it just ties the entire dish together. Upon a repeat visit, we would definitely both order this again, with the cool factor that it is prepared table side. Overall, we both wondered why we took so long to go here, and will be returning again soon.

UPDATE 1-5-15: Starting off the new year right, I needed an amazing place as my first check-in. So I came back here to start it off right. This was a monday, they werent to busy. So I'm not sure what happened in the Kitchen, but our Bento boxes were taking forever to get out to us. This has never happened before. But our Waitress Ashley was awesome. She apologized for the wait and offered us another salad or soup. So we accepted. Giving us something to snack on while we waiting. To our surprise she brought out some pea appetizer with sea salt. I hate peas and havent had one since i was like 10. But these things were great! They were demolished. THanks to Ashley it made up for what ever was happening in the kitchen. But for food this good we dont mind the wait. Also Ashley mentioned she had seen us in here several times before and theres a app you can DL on your phone, hand it to your waitress and they will enter a code. Like punching a card, and you will get $10 or $20 off. win! Thanks Ash.. I gotta stop coming here. I never tip more then 20%. I've done it twice now, both times here. Amazing doesnt even begin to explain this place. Its been sitting in my yelp bookmarks forever now. At first the way my GPS was taking me I thought oh no.. Its the sushi place that looks like a pizza hut on 436. But as we hit 17-92 the next thing I know its telling us we passed it on the left. I grabbed a quick glance to my left and was impressed right away. Pulled a U-turn and I thought oh this place looks expensive. THey have a nice out side area that you can eat if you wanted to as well. But once you walk inside you are met with neon lights and other cool accent lighting everywhere you look. pictures dont really do it justice. From the lit up water bubbles in the wall, to the dotted lights on the bar, the neon lights for the glasses, the lit up art on the wall, and the neon lights around the booth. Also a couple walls have a cool square art design to it with blue accent lighting. Our waitress was the beautiful Rosa. Who was awesome at helping us to decide what to get. There was so much I wanted to try. She suggested the pick 4 items for $20.. Didnt even see that until she pointed it out. Speaking of service. The hostess didnt seem to happy to be there.Or maybe i should say didnt seem to personable. But thats okay. Rosa more then made up for that. The prices here are pretty fair. our bill came to $62.15 for the both of us. But thats adding in a $12 tip... So basically $25 per person. Cant complain about that. This was including desert too. The service was so good actually i think this is the first time i've gone over 20% Besides the great atmosphere, and the excellent service. The food was pretty out standing too. They take care in how it looks on the plate when they bring it out to you. And it tastes just as good as it looks. Oh ya.. And the pick 4 items for $20. When its your birthday you get that for free!! And i believe desert too. Really? most places bring out a tiny little cupcake with a little candle on it.. Screw the cupcake.. Im coming here. On a final note. When my wife went to the bathroom i got a text message lol.. you gotta check out the bathrooms!! the sinks glow! She said she couldnt figure out how to turn on the water lol.. She had soap all over her hands and was waving them under the sink but couldnt get any water to come out.. She said theres a sensor on the side you have to wave your hand in front of. But thats not actually true. She must have been standing dead center.. the sensor on the wall will pick up your shoulder and the water will come on as long as your standing there. and its actually a water fall.. Pretty nice touch.Just stand to the left or right of the sink so you arent waving your hands everywhere Oh ya and a final final note. They have an authentic Japanese menu too. You have to ask for the secret menu. And yes, it literally says secret menu on the top.

The atmosphere is well lit and there's an outside patio with fire posts and lights. There os also complimentary valet parking available. The food came out delicious and beautifully presented. The only complaints I have is the speed of service and that they brought out white rice when my girlfriend ordered fried rice.

Good local sushi spot. A little overpriced. And I don't believe they know their identity quite yet but I am willing to keep giving it a try here and there.

Love the decor of this hidden restaurant. It's location can almost be missed since it's located at the bottom of a very nice apartment building across from Lake Lily. I was invited to join a friend and her monthly meetup group to try out the Bite30 menu. Rangetsu is one of many restaurants participating in the month long special. There were 10 of us so it was fairly a large party. I will start by saying that service was great but we could have used another waiter due to the size of our party. The kitchen seemed a little overwhelmed also as it did take some time to get items. We all ordered drinks and took advantage of the $5 Happy Hour which usually runs until 7pm. Honestly if you're wanting a quick bite to eat and a drink after work, just order from the Happy Hour Menu. The menu consists of several appetizers including full size sushi rolls. I started off with a glass of sangria and pork Gyoza dumplings. The presentation was so nice. Most restaurants just bring them out on a plate with a side of soy sauce. These came in their own sizzling plate and were still sizzling when they were brought to the table. They tasted pretty good and I would order them again. As far as the Sangria is concerned, just order something else. It was basically orange juice and wine with garnish. I chose to order off of the Bite30 menu and others chose to order off the regular menu. Ordering off this menu gave me a choice of soup or salad, appetizer entree and dessert. I chose the salad, tuna flatbread for my appetizer, beef sukiyaki and the Godiva Chocolate cake. Everything was wonderful! The salad was fresh and the dressing was not your typical orange ginger dressing. I had never had Sukiyaki so when they brought out a hot plate along with raw meat and veggies and eggs I was confused. Lol! Let's just say it's the Japanese version of fondue. Your waiter cooks it all for you at the table. What I found most interesting is that you dip your cooked items into a raw scrambled egg to cool it down. I was skeptical but it was delish! I was so stuffed that I ended up taking my dessert home. It was good but nothing that I haven't had before. I definitely recommend this place and I will be back soon!

The atmosphere is beautiful a great first date place and the service was great. But the sushi was not the best in town as they claim. I had the Philadelphia roll and the tiger roll, it was the same quality as eating sushi from publix. I am not coming here again, if you want quality sushi for the same maybe even a lower price go to " Arigato " there sushi is 10 times better. They have so much flavor and they don't skimp out on the salmon. I wanted to try a new fancy place but I guess I am sticking to Arigato for now.
