High Cholesterol at Whataburger

Calorie intake is the main concern for people with high cholesterol while dining at a fast-food restaurant like Whataburger. Well, you can always try the Lighter & Smaller options from the menu to cut down your fat intake. Opting for grilled sandwich or burgers are preferred compared to double meat or triple meat cheesy burgers which contain high cholesterol.

Foods to Avoid at Whataburger for High Cholesterol

Cut down on your meat intake to control your high cholesterol. You must skip Double Meat Whataburger and Triple Meat Whataburger at all costs. You should also avoid Avocado Bacon Burger and Monterey Melt as both these burgers contain a high amount of fat. Sweat & Spicy Bacon Burger will add extra 1080 calories in your diet so skip that as well. Whatacatch Dinner may sound tempting but the famous fish sandwich is also full of calories and unhealthy fat. Lastly, avoid French Fries and Onion Rings at Whataburger if you are already ordering a burger or any other heavy meal.

I borderline don't want to review this place because I don't want to share it with others. But, since I am a good yelper, I will share. Begrudgingly. I keep hearing about Hattie's from some friends who live nearby. I have seen a few photos of their pastries and they look delicious. Plus, I heard they had great coffee. I was really happy to visit Hattie's on afternoon after a long bike ride on the nearby Suncoast Trail and I was pretty hungry & thirsty. They were still serving breakfast and that made me very happy. There were so many tasty looking options that I had a very hard time deciding. I went with a .69 cent coffee (Mon-Wed is only .69 coffee! Suck on that expensive chains!) and a bacon, egg, and cheese on rye sandwich called the nest or something. Basically the egg is cooked in the bread as a "nest" and the other yummy stuff is between that. It was awesome! My coffee was perfect and I love free coffee refills, especially when the first cup is so cheap! The service was really good and I wound up getting a chocolate croissant to cap off my meal. It was chocolatey and divine. I cannot wait to go back and try some other meals at this adorable little establishment.

This is the best damn thing to happen to Lutz. Service is beyond amazing. They make you feel like a neighbor. I always used to go for breakfast. Try everything once if you can. They work around your dietary restrictions, and I know this as a vegetarian. I don't work nearby anymore, but I'm sure as hell going to make my way through once or twice a month.

This place has become our favorite breakfast place in town. All their ingredients are always fresh and delish. My husband and I come every weekend for a coffee and breakfast and have never been disappointed. Gotta try heir cafe con leche!

Great breakfast place! Loved being able to upgrade to Cuban toast! Order the cafe con leche. Wonderful!

  • Marsha B.

I read the other yelp reviews and thought if try it out. I got an ice coffee and the land and sea Benedict. I was really excited with what I ordered. The bacon, eggs, salmon, capers, goat cheese and fresh dill on a croissant ! Well, first off the coffee tasted bitter. The salmon on the sandwich was browning on the sides. The rest of the sandwich tasted pretty good without the salmon. Just so u know, I LOVE salmon. It's not the most horrible place, but I won't go back.

I'm here for the first time with my wife and we really on joyed the food, coffee, and customer service. We will bring the kids next time!!!

The food is above average and the service is perfect. Make sure you at least stop in for fresh squeezed orange juice.

Some of the best brunch food I've had in quite some time. This location used to be a really delicious burger joint called Jake's, and now it seems another company that serves great food has filled that void. I had the Ed's Novella Bagel (specifically on an everything bagel) which consisted of nova lox, cream cheese, capers and fresh tomato. Super tasty. Also tried out Hattie's Sweet 'n' Savory, which is essentially what McDonald's was aiming for with the mcgriddle. This breakfast sandwich is a sausage patty in between a cinnamon bun, which is prepared on the grill. You can't go wrong. Café con leche and Cuban toast were on my table as well. The toast came with a super tasty guava jam. My only complaint is that I wish there were more of it. This place is delicious, and I will return to try out their lunch menu.

I've only been once and I will absolutely go back - impressive. I got a large iced latte and the country benedict - 2 scrambled eggs, corned beef hash, tomato, onion, creme fraiche on a homemade biscuit. The corned beef hash was real, not the dog food looking stuff out of the can, and it was excellent. The ingredients were fresh and absolutely delicious. The bread wasn't flaky like a biscuit I'm used to, but it's ok since I don't prefer biscuits this bread was actually much better. I agree with another reviewer about the eggs; they are cooked to the consistency of a sponge - they were fine but probably the weakest part of the dish. The portion was generous. At $14 (including 20% tip) I totally disagree with people complaining about the price. You're in Carrollwood at a place that makes everything from scratch and uses top notch ingredients - if you want a $5 breakfast McDonald's is across the street.

This is a great place for breakfast croissant and some coffee at a really great price. I have been here on many occasions and it has had great service every time. Some mornings are busy then never take more than about 5 minutes to get your food.

  • Brett M.

Well I've been here a few times and still not impressed with anything from service to the food. Missing items of my order along with wrong items being add to my check. Bath room was been without towels and hot water the times I used it. Cappuccino is terrible . Will not be back.

Pots of fresh French press coffee! This is a great place for coffee - fresh ground and roasted Food is always good Had the turkey sandwich with fresh sprouts, cream cheese and cranberries Pastries are delicious and always on sale from 2-4 PM Have had the quiche and breakfast sandwiches

  • Kel C.

I appreciate that they have vegetarian sandwiches, but they really lacked flavor. Well, that's my opinion. One sandwich was actually the Hattie sandwich which I was really expecting to be great... But it fell a little short for me. I don't even remember the other sandwich name. The place has good reviews so maybe it's just the non-meat eaters who have a hard time finding something here. There were pastries and stuff they we didn't try too. Oh... And for my personal taste... It isn't a place I would sit and enjoy my coffee while getting work done. It wasn't very cozy, more like a fancier Subway or something.

Hattie's is a great little cafe tucked into a strip mall off Dale Mabry in Lutz. They seem truly dedicated to only using organic, sustainable, and locally sourced ingredients whenever possible; and the fruit of these principles is very evident in their food. You can tell that they pay a lot of attention to their ingredients, so I gotta give them props because they put out some outstanding food and coffee and don't cut corners. I love places that make real food that is healthy and delicious and that's Hattie's to a tee. I'm not a big coffee drinker, but all the coffee I had here was smooth, flavorful, and not bitter at all (I prefer my coffee black). So far I've only had breakfast food here and I've been extremely satisfied. The "go big or go home" breakfast burrito is the biggest I've ever had and very well balanced with eggs, rice, black beans, pico de gallo, sour creme, and guacamole. Definitely a very filling breakfast. The Land and Sea Benedict was amazing. The croissant alone is one of the best I've ever had and with eggs, bacon, tomato, capers, salmon and goat cheese...I mean how can you beat that? My brother really liked the Nest Egg sandwich with sausage. They mean nest egg literally, there is a little hole in the rye bread where the egg rest as it's grilled onto the rye, sounds good to me! Hattie's always seems to be pretty busy and they are a small restaurant. If you looking for a quick bite to eat dining in might not be your best bet, but if you call ahead your good for quick take out. If your looking for a laid back casual breakfast or lunch look no further, just keep in mind they have very limited seating available. I think it's safe to say Hattie's is now one of my goto restaurants whenever I'm in the Tampa area and I highly recommend it.

Hattie's is located in Lutz at corner of N Dale Mabry and Van Dyke in shopping center with home goods and LA fitness. They have several outdoor seats as well as indoor. Clean and inviting, they serve breakfast and lunch. The food is fresh and they offer daily specials and they even roast many of the coffees. They also make fruit smoothies. I ordered the gluten free quiche from the daily special board which was salmon with mushrooms and cheese. Wasn't sure about mixing salmon with cheese but it worked. I also enjoyed an iced coffee with soy and a splash of sugar free vanilla. Perusing the menu, I saw lots of creative eggs for breakfast, which is served all day, soups, Sammie's and salads for lunch and pastries and desserts that looked inviting. The food is local and mostly made from scratch, free of chemicals, pesticides (organic) and I am a huge fan!

This family run eatery is such a gem! The Hattie's Benedict is my favorite: scrambled egg, ham, kale over a biscuit with a light covering of a dill infused sauce. Pure heaven. Don't miss out on the coffee which is custom roasted on site! No joke, I watched! The fresh squeezed OJ is straight off the tree and satisfies even the most finicky native Floridian. I love this place and recommend it to anyone who loves fresh, flavorful food in a friendly, casual atmosphere.

We love Hattie's and usually get it to go. My favorite is Ed's Novella breakfast sandwich, an everything bagel toasted with cream cheese, tomato and red onions. Seriously, I dream of this sandwich. Our family also loves the nest sandwich. Service is friendly. The owner/manager is usually there and truly cares about the food they serve. Great spot in north tampa/lutz.

  • Robyn M.

Ok this one is difficult for me....we all KNOW I love owner operators and I am very generous with my stars....usually. The food here....once u actually get it is 4 STARS! BUT, the process of getting it is 0 STARS....hence average is 2 stars. Like my math? I never said I was a math major folks! Basically, it takes 1 to 3 minutes to decide what u want to order cuz the menu isn't a bible like cheesecake factory or somewhere. Then it takes like 15 minutes for 2 orders, and 30 minutes for 4 orders, just to get it into the register correctly. By the time they repeat the order back to you, with mistakes of course, so add 5 minutes more for every correction, and then they whack u over the head with cost ...approx. $22 to $26 for 2 coffees n 2 bagel breakfasts and $44 - $55 for 4 people the same type breakfast order....you don't know if that dizzy, fainting feeling you are experiencing is due to lack of blood sugar, or sheer shock and nervous system reaction to the astronomical breakfast you are having that is not laced with pure gold on top!!!!! They need a better system, point blank, for EVERYBODY'S SANITY, and then their prices wouldn't be such an issue. Or at least not as painful and gut wrenching. To end this on a sweet note with the positives because there are some, and I hate to just be the bearer of bad news and complain is: LOVE the free coffee refills with several strengths and boldness to choose from. The owner and the beautiful red head girl who works there are both super friendly and sweet. The food does taste great if it gets to you at the right temperature. I do LOVE their land and sea croissant breakfast sandwich .....for a million dollars! Lol ! Just kidding....but u get the point here....not sure if it all really tastes delicious or you went thru hell and back to get it ..so that a cardboard box with cream cheese on it may be the best breakfast you ever had if it took 45 starving minutes to finally be able to bite into it..... u feel me?!?!? Why don't you yelpers try it and let me know if I was way off here..... I hate when things feel like they only happen to me!!!!

Always happy to find a place that serves breakfast and was excited to read Robbie C's amazing review about Hattie's Cafe and Beanery. Met Robbie here recently and not only enjoyed the amazing company but the delicious coffee/food. Outdoor and indoor seating available. Place is clean. comfy and perfect for a quick bite. Have no complaints whatsoever other than the guy that continued to blow his nose while we tried to eat our breakfast (Please go to the restroom and blow your nose). Only thing worse -- someone sneezing on you! Hattie's is located in a strip mall on Dale Mabry in Lutz --- Open Monday through Saturday 6:30 am to 4:00 pm and Sunday 7:00 am to 2:00 pm. Had no idea that this company strives to use foods that are grown without the use of chemicals or pesticides. Almost all their pastries, meats, soups and beverages are made from on-site from scratch. They serve breakfast, pastries, salads, soups, coffee, tea, smoothies and juices. I ordered the homemade blueberry muffin and breakfast blend coffee. The muffin was fresh and delicious. Coffee was not too strong -- just the way I like it. Will be back. Cannot wait to try some of their juices.

Love this place. Best breakfast location in Lutz. The coffee is roasted in house and always hot. The Ed's novella bagel is a must. This is a great local eatery, stop in and get the house brew of the day.

This joint always has a crowd, so I was eager to try it. I went for lunch and had the fresh gulf shrimp salad on a toasted croissant, served with a side of ginger cole slaw. My meal was amazing. I don't think I've ever had a shrimp salad sandwich or ginger cole slaw so these were my favorite ones by far. Unfortunately, that sandwich a special that is not served on their regular menu, so it may not be there on my next visit. My hubby ordered the humongous breakfast burrito, it wasn't bad, but it was not amazing like my sandwich. I also thoroughly enjoyed the toasted. Cuban bread, it was awesome. This is definitely a spot where I will try almost everything on the menu.

I absolutely love Hatties!!! Their coffee of amazing and we loved it so much that we bought coffee grounds to make it at home. Their food is so delicious too! Recently I went there for lunch, which I had never done before (only went for breakfast) and got the fourth Friday sandwich... OMG!!! It was scrumptious! I'm a huge lover of cranberry and turkey together so anytime I see that combo I'm all over it and I am so glad I tried it!

Very average breakfast. Eggs were overcooked and the French toast was okay. I'd stick to the coffee and pastry next time.

We stopped into this local cafe style joint for breakfast. Both indoor and outdoor seating available. I had the nest breakfast sandwich and my wife had the country benedict. Both meals were made fresh, cooked to order, and were deliscious. A nice selection of coffee is available, we had cafe con leche and it was done right. We may try the Cuban coffee next time. There was a steady line of customers but the wait wasnt too long. I attribute this to the staff doing a great job. The staff was also polite and took the time to recommended adding chipotle to my sandwhich (great recommendation). The establishment is clean, the staff is organized and polite, prices are reasonable, coffee is terrific, and the food is great! What else do you want from a breakfast place? If you are in the area and haven't been to this place, stop reading Yelp reviews and go now, you have found what you are looking for.

The breakfast burrito, that's all you need to know. Great flavor well balanced and huge portion. I have tried lunch sandwiches that were very good and the breakfast club is very good. I like the fresh Orange juice and the coffee selection is always interesting trying the daily grind. Good spot for breakfast and lunch also the cookies and cinnamon roll are my favorite pastries. Interesting bottled soda selection with nice variety of most things I've never seen.

First time this morning for breakfast-- really good lattes and coffee. The eggs were cage free and delicious. The grits were excellent. All around great meal. The only drawback was the amount of pepper on the potatoes. I'm not a pepper person but they were excellent.

  • Joe R.

Good flavor, nice little cafe. I would have given it 5 stars except that serve a breakfast burrito with no salsa of any kind, except for their pico de gallo. They have southern and Asian hot sauce on the table, but no Mexican hot sauce. The burrito was good, but I need salsa.

Hats off to Hattie's for a number of reasons. Warm, welcoming and wonderfully committed to creating quality dining experiences are my main motivations for seeking out this dining spot that has deep ties to the Tampa Bay area (for the history, go to the very informative web site). There is the coffee roasted on premises, fresh-squeezed orange juice that tastes as great as it looks, baked goods made daily on-site and made-to-order breakfast items that are available even beyond the traditional breakfast hours. This is a combination cafe, coffee house and bakery and just the sort of place everyone would love to have just around the corner or down the block from where they live or work. I first tried this for breakfast and will definitely return to sample its lunch offerings.

I love this place! Fresh breakfast and lunches done w the best ingredients. Yes you can pay less elsewhere but not w the same quality!!!! My favorite is the lox w capers and cream cheese or how they call it.... The Ed Novellas.......on an everything bagel or have it w/o the bagel. Fresh orange juice!!!!! They are always full especially on weekends!!!!! But overall one of my favorite places to go that's fresh, real food real ingredients and great service!

This place is all about fresh - its not fast food! Go in and place your order. While you are waiting you can see they are making it all right then so it is not a 1 minute wait. It is worth being patient! I tried a breakfast bowl with tea and came in around $7 so it is not that expensive depending on your order. My food was hot, filling and fast - and they cooked the bacon crispy - thank you!! Their breakfast burrito looks awesome! The only bummer is that they seem to sell out of quiche quickly so if that is on your mind, you should go early!! Hattie's gets a little crowded, but there are tables, seating along a counter against the windows and outside tables so it does move if you have a little patience. In addition to great food, they are all about coffee so if you love the bean this may be your place. You can choose from a fairly broad menu of coffees and they have 4 free refill options out at all times. Their tea selection is good as well. You can buy the coffee you like as well as nature type snacks from a shelf in the back of the store. Kids will like the fridge with old fashion sodas in bottles by the register. A good, local, north Tampa eatery!

Nice having this combo cafe/bakery/beanery in my neck of the woods. Staff is as friendly as they come. Most pastries are baked fresh daily. Whatever isn't made on-site is purchased locally (i.e. coffee, bagels). They'll gladly explain this to you as well if you inquire. I've tried four of their breakfast items and never left disappointed. Please dear God try one of their traditional chocolate chip cookies! Does mango smoothie with chili pepper and lime sound amazing? That's because it is!

Simply a great coffee shoppe. Interesting blends, reasonably priced food and pastries, friendly service. And...if it isn't on the menu they will custom make what you want. Great place for relaxed business meetings.

Hattie's is no doubt a lutz gem! Great coffee, amazing food, and a delicious little case of baked goods including fresh croissants, cookies, pastries, etc. try the Ed's breakfast bowl and you will not be disappointed. It takes a little while for your food but it is cooked to order so well worth the wait! I have not tried any sandwiches yet but I plan on it.

What a great addition to the plaza. Hatties is truly a delight. Mostly restaurant for breakfast, brunch and lunch. Now add a bakery, gourmet coffee shop and general foodie store. They sell bags of coffee and have grinders right there for you. They also sell some preserves and various products, most of which appear homemade. Sandwiches are served in plastic baskets lined with parchment and it is a self serve restaurant. No frills, but quaint establishment. I had the North by Northwest sandwich. It was ham, turkey, a pplewood bacon, avocado, tomato, romaine with chipolte mayonnaise. Now it sounds like a large grand sammie, but it isn't. The roll it is served on is small and very thin, like a mini English muffin, for size comparison. The overall warm taste was the BOMB, totally delicious. It was accompanied by a very small portion of the best quinoa salad I have ever tasted, I could have easily made that my entire lunch. It had small amounts of spinach, corn, garbanzo beans and cranberry, coated in a very light mild vineyards....so very yummy. Hatties is clean, pleasant staff and great food. I had a conversation with another diner and he loved his soup, sandwich and cookies. Hat's off to Hatties, I think they are hitting a home run. I would have give it 5*, but I feel for the price and quantity of food, it was a bit off. The offerings and tastes are 5*. What's a girl to do? It was a great lunch, but small portions for the price.

So happy to have a bustling little coffee shop in this area. I only got toast and a cuban coffee but both were good and I did see that they pride themselves on roasting their own beans before grinding them fresh each day. The actual coffee bean roaster is in the seating area and is pretty sweet looking. The cashier was a little icy and gave an initial bad impression but she warmed up as my order was prepared. They were pretty busy for 9am on a Saturday which is maybe why she was a little indifferent but cheer up buttercup, I'm a nice person. The cuban bread was pressed and crunchy, exactly the way I like it. I think for the toast and my cafe con leche, the total was around $5 which isn't La Tropicana but I guess rent is higher in Lutz than Ybor. The cafe con leche is very very strong. I was kind of shocked at how strong it was. Maybe I've been enjoying weak cuban coffee my entire life? There was a full bakery case full of pastries, bagels, muffins, and other goodies and I noticed they prepare sandwiches and salads as well. Most people seated were eating breakfast which is cool that it isn't just take out and people stick around.

One of my favorite things to see at cafes now are the gluten free options! I do not need to eat gluten free (thank goodness) however, I do partake of the gluten free options quite frequently; especially when I feel I am eating too much wheat and bread. I had the Ed's Grill on gluten free bread which was pretty good. Honestly for $7.50 maybe a side of chips or a pickle spear would be a fantastic way to add value. They have gourmet coffee, oatmeal-to-go, and jams they retail as well. Choice spot with great alternative food options for vegetarians and gluten-free folks! The chai spiced coffee crush was uh-mazing.

I get lunch or breakfast here at least once a week. All their sandwiches & salads are always fresh. They have great pastries, and they have the buy one get one free promo on weekdays from 2 to 4. Wait time can be long sometimes, so it would be a good idea to call & place your order ahead of time, if you are shirt on time.

Happy to have this non-chain coffee place in Lutz. Everything I've had here is good quality and the breakfast pastries made in house are excellent. A million times better than anything you'll grab at Publix. Food can come out slow and it's generally busy, so be prepared to exercise patience.

Hattie's is a great local shop with unique, but very tasty food, good coffer and friendly service. I also love that they have 6-7 tables outside with umbrellas so you can enjoy a coffee or breakfast sandwich al fresco. I am also a big fan of local coffee shops that roast their own coffee. Don't get me wrong, I love my Starbucks (since we don't have a Pete's here anyway), but it is nice to mix it up a bit and Hattie's makes some good coffee. Give their nested breakfast sandwiches a shot if you are looking for something delicious and different. They actually cook a fresh egg or two into the bread! Very yummy!! Definitely recommend this place.

The roast of the day has always been great, and the staff is always so friendly and helpful. My sister who is gluten intolerant introduced me to the place. She goes there weekly with her husband, and the staff always take a personal interest in them. The gluten-free options are varied and delicious. I love the Aztec chocolate syrup in my coffee, which always goes great with Hattie's Breakfast Blend. Choose from milk, half and half, or cream on the table by the coffee, which you can add as much or as little as you like. Also, there's free re-fills on coffee! The café, shopping center, and area of town it's in is clean, safe, and pleasant, and I like how the shop is on the end of the strip with lots of windows on two sides of the room. They have free WiFi. Choose from a table and chairs or bar seat by the windows to get your work done, chat with friends, and bask in the radiance of the double chocolate gluten free muffin, gf cinnamon roll, salads, sandwhiches, breakfast burrito, or anything else on the menu. Highly recommended!

Great spot for a tasty affordable lunch! I've tried the quiche and a couple of their sandwiches over the last couple months and have enjoyed it all. Friendly staff and daily specials make this a must try.

I love the taste of good coffee... Hatties has excellent coffee that they brew fresh and roast fresh. Don't be worried about getting a plain Joe and pouring it yourself, that coffee is delicious... the person that roasts the beans is spot-on. I've never had a better blend. You can even order a press of roast as well. Not only is their coffee great, but so is there food. I love their cheese danish (they offer to warm it up) and their quiche is amazing as well. Will always come back for at least their coffee.

Granted, this was my first visit but it will not be my last. The food was excellent (had the Hattie's benedict and a Cafe Con Leche for breakfast)--maybe a little pricey but when you consider the ingredients are fresh and everything is made to order it is well worth it. The staff was very friendly and the owner was in the little dining room often early on a Mon morning chatting with customers. Looking forward to trying a sandwich and pastries. Oh, and if you are a coffee person, they roast their own (watched it being done this morning) and are happy to discuss their process, blends, etc. They also have gluten free options for those of that persuasion. I even heard the owner talking to his staff about how different items were gluten free so they could discuss ingredients intelligently with customers, not just say something was gluten free. Support this great local business!

Tried what was recommended in a newspaper article which was a salmon sandwich. I substituted the bread with a croissant roll and it was off the chain good EXCEPT the cream cheese over took the sandwich. Could have used more sprouts, more onions and more salmon. Salmon that was there was high quality. The ingredient list stated avocado but it really was guacamole and just the barest of dabs. They need to go with thin slices of avocado. Place was really clean. Staff was prompt and friendly. Prices were very reasonable. I will go back and try it again.

I live almost across the street from Hattie's and am so glad to have them here. They have incredible coffee that is fresh and tastes great. They roast the beans themselves on site. The staff and owner are all very personable. I have only had food once but it was excellent, the breakfast nest egg sandwich. I highly recommend Hattie's, especially if you are looking for a good cup of coffee!

I've eaten breakfast and lunch several times at Hattie's and they exceeded my expectations every time. I highly recommend the birds nest breakfast sandwich and the Old Maid sandwich for lunch. If you like a good cup of coffee my favorite is the French press but their regular coffee is excellent too. Want fresh squeezed orange juice, this is the place. They squeeze it with Florida oranges right in front of you. Highly recommend. Located in The plaza behind Walgreens on Dale Mabry at Van Dyke Rd.
