this is probably the most hit or miss place on the planet.. first off dont ever ask to speak to the manager .. there is no manager.. ever.. just a female bartender and a couple female servers at night to deal with any drunks or problems that may arise.. the one word that they have never heard of is COMMUNICATIONS... no one knows whats going on .. why ? well remember there is no manager.. if you call and ask is there music tonight ? dunno... is there poker tonight? dunno? is there kareoke tonight? dunno.. is the comedy show there this month? dunno... we have been there 7 times since we returned to FL last week.. 3 times we left without being server.. one night we went for dinner about 7pm... we asked do you still have the buy one get one appetizer after 10 ... we were told not sure let me ask...not sure sho she asked as THERE IS NO MANAGER TO ASK .. but she returned and said yep .. buy one get one appetizer after 10 and 60 cent wings... so about 11pm we went back... i said we want to get the buy one get one appetizer.... they looked at me like i had 2 .. well you know.. they said i dotn THINK we have that.. went to ask the bartender.. nope .. stopped that 3 months ago.. funny ... it was stopped 3 months ago but 4 hours earlier 2 servers said yep we still have it .. if you like a server dont expect them to be there when you go back .. the average life of a server there is about a month .. (thats giving them a week or 2) .. its such a same it used to be really good but now there is no direction.. no manager.. they used to open for lunch at 11.. dotn get there now before noon... they switched the hours.. so we no longer go for lunch ... well i shouldnt say never .. never any longer.. we did go at noon one day last week and wanted to get a pizza.. it was 12:15 and were told they forgot to turn ont he pizza ovens and it would be 30-45 mintues... lol needless to say we left... when we go we knwo its a 50% chance we will stay .. shame the servers try so hard .. the bartender tries so hard.. but without a owner or manager there it just tries to run itself..

I had a few Hours to kill so I jumped on yelp to look for a Sports Bar I could watch NASCAR in and have a few beers. Yelp once again steared my in the right direction. I pulled up and outside they had a live band playing rockabilly music that was really good. I go inside and they had about 15 TV's with various sports on them. They asked me where I wanted to sit and I asked them where is the NASCAR and they said to sit anywhere and they would turn it on. Well I got the best of both worlds, NASCAR on one TV and the Tampa Bay Rays on the other. I had several beers to choose between so I went with the FAT TIRE. One of the house speicals is fried green tomatos which were delicious. They had blue cheese crumbles with a spicy Thai sauce. For 2 beers and the fried green tomatos it was only 15 dollars. What a great deal. Thank you Brian (I think that was his name).

If you haven't been here in a while I recommend you give them another try. We are fairly new to the area and we understand this place may have seen some rougher times in the past, but has recently come under new management. We have been here three times for dine in and once for carry out and have been really pleased each time. The interior is clean and bright, including the bathrooms. The whole place appears to have been fairly recently renovated with clean tile floors, new tables/chairs/booths, tons of flat screen TV's, and updated bathroom fixtures. The outdoor bar area where the band plays is a little rougher, but it's outside so that's cool. The wait staff (Kim & Alexis) are great - always friendly and now that they are starting to recognize us even take the time to come say hi even if they aren't our server that evening. The menu is made up of really good, solid bar & grill fare - burgers, apps, salads, pizza, and wings. The wings, the wings, the wings...! The wings are large and come unbreaded (the way we like them) - fried and then charbroiled before a toss in your choice of sauce. The Sports Shack sauce is delicious - tangy, sweet and generously applied. The first time we went hubby tried the jerk which he says was good...but honestly we've just become totally addicted to the Sports Shack sauce and just can't bring ourselves to order anything else! Our first trip I had the Greek Salad - it was very generous, cold and fresh with a huge piece of feta cheese, tomato, cuke, onion, and that funny plop of potato salad that is apparently a Clearwater "thing". Really good. Last night we tried the Mini Vinny pizza which reminded us of our home town with its "St. Louis Style" -- thin crust, cut into squares, with crushed tomato, hamburger and peppers. We earned a free order of Garlic Knots with our YELP check in. We've been to some places who didn't seem to know what to do with a Yelp Deal and it became a bit of an ordeal to redeem them. However at Sports Shack Kim immediately said great! and Alexis later cheerfully brought us our order of hot buttery garlic knots with no hassles or weirdness. Love me some Shack!

Oh dear. We used to really enjoy this place for lunch while watching a game but it has gone seriously downhill. Went there today for the hockey playoff and left before the game started. One of the three other tables that was occupied had clearly been waiting for drinks for sometime. When we were eventually "greeted" we were met with some tale of woe about her being all on her own. Rather than stress her out further, we did the decent thing and took our business elsewhere. What a pity.

I went in today to get out of the rain. The place was empty so I moseyed on up to the bar. I ordered water, it was only 11am, I don't start drinking until at least noon because I have rules man. The menu is pretty extensive for a bar menu. I decided on the chicken parmesan sandwich which came smothered in marinara and provolone, I also ordered 5 wings with hot sports shack sauce. The sandwich was ok, the chicken parmesan was a bit chewy, so it scores about a 2.5. The wings were pretty good, had a little bit of heat to them anyways, and score a 3 5. The place isn't huge, but it's clean and has both indoor and outdoor seating. There are plenty of flat screens, I will give them that. The Power Putt golf game seriously needs to be replaced with a Golden Tee machine in my opinion. The service was great, although it would be difficult not to wait on me as I was the only patron there for most of my visit. I would come here to watch a game and have a few drinks, but I'm doubtful that I would return for another lunch.

Friendly staff, clean environment! Being from Wisconsin, we are used to being our kids with us to restaurant/bar places. Our daughter played the golf game while we drank beer waiting for our supper. So far so good! Hoping the food is awesome!

Cheap, greasy, yummy eats. They have a special with a slice of cheese pizza and a beer for only $2 or $3 dollars! We ordered garlic knots and onion straws for appetizers. The onions were amazing (red onion too). They were fried to crispy perfection. We were not a fan of the thousand island dipping sauce it came with so I asked for each (which they charged us extra for). The garlic knots were about what you would expect. The large pizza is huge. We ordered pepperoni, so it was super greasy as expected. It was New York style pizza with slices you fold over. Service was a bit slow and inattentive.

I came to Sports Shack looking for a quick bite to eat and to just chill before a meeting. It's a little shack that's located in an inconspicuous area, but the interior and exterior is comfortable. It's a sports bar, so there's not a lot to expect in terms of excellent decor and magnificent interior design. The Staff: The staff is super sweet and engaging. The server stopped and chatted with us because they weren't crowded. The cook asked me how my calzone was because it was the first one he's made. The owner was around, and she was a pleasant lady as well. I enjoyed how much the staff cared about their job. The Atmosphere: It's a typical sports-bar atmosphere. There is tons of indoor and outdoor seating, televisions and space for everyone. There's a Jukebox for choosing your own music too. The Food: Again, the food is typical sports-bar food, but it's really delicious and cheap. Like, really cheap. A small child's pizza is actually pretty huge and big enough for two people. The calzone I had was massive and delicious. My sister got a burger that was pretty large as well. The prices are truly fantastic, and the quality isn't skimped on either. That's a huge plus for Sports Shack. My calzone had a crispy but soft crust, the gooey cheeses inside mixed well with fresh spinach. No frozen goo here. The onion straws I had ordered as an appetizer were also pretty delicious. Flavorful, crispy and plentiful. In the past, I have tried their vegetable sub and that's pretty incredible too. I get extra mushrooms for a more meaty feel to it. It tastes phenomenal, but it's certainly pretty greasy. My sisters also had no complaints about their food. I will probably return. There's more than a few vegetarian things I can order here, and all of them are delicious. If you're ever in the area, then hit them up for some football, good food and great service.

This place is great! Newly updated interior & really friendly staff! The menu has a variety of options from your traditional fare like nachos & jalapeño poppers to fried green tomatoes & hot subs. The prices are reasonable & they have a good amount of TV's too!

We went to Sports Shack last night. Their bar stools are falling apart. One sliced my leg open and it started bleeding. At no time after I informed the waitress AND had her get rid of the barstool did anyone come over to ask if I was ok. I've been in the service industry a very long time so I wasn't expecting a free or discounted meal. I know these things happen but I have NEVER seen a business care so little about its customers. We paid our 50$ tab and still tipped the server 15$ cause it was no fault of hers. I will not be going back to this establishment ever again. The manager completely dropped the ball on this incident. It's a shame that someone with no care for the return clientele is allowed to run this business.

I ordered the steak salad and it was way above my expectations. Real steak grilled to perfection, on top of green crispy lettuce. Ruby red tomatoes, blue cheese, and a zesty vinaigrette on top. Sports shack has a nice, cozy, back patio where if you let your mind wander you may think you're in Key West instead of Largo. The staff is super friendly; beer pitchers are never left empty for long. Great place to watch a game.

I recently moved to Largo from Dayton, OH and my husband and I rely on yelp for all of our dining adventures, but my fellow yelpers have let me down this time. My dad and his girlfriend came into town and the Florida vs Dayton March madness game was that day. We were looking for a good place to watch the game, and with a place named "Sport Shack" we were expecting sports fans and good food, but we were very disappointed. We ate quickly and left in the middle of the game to go somewhere else to finish the game. The waitress was obviously brand new. We asked her what the "Sport Shack Sauce" was, and she said "I don't know, I'm not much of a wing person..." Uh... Ok? We ordered appetizers which took about 20 minutes to come out, and when when our food did come out, only half of the table got their food, and then the other half of the table got their food about 10 minutes later. My dad got the wings, because I had heard that they were good from other yelpers, but he wasn't too impressed. They were a decent size though. My husband and I shared the pound of boneless wings, but they were just puny chicken fingers, and there weren't many there. We also had the fried green tomatoes which were pretty good. Our bellies were full, but we were very disappointed and will not be back.

I am VERY picky when it comes to food (read my other reviews lol) I love food and eating out. I could not believe how GOOD this food was the price was even better. Even though they were busy we still got amazing service. It doesn't look like much from the outside so I always past it by. I meet a friend there for some food and drinks after work and I was pleasantly surprised!

Great food and really causal fun atmosphere. It's a small town sports bar feel, but they have good music some nights. Have been here many times, and it's always fun and always tastes great!!!
