Probably one of the nicest bakers I visited on the search for my dream wedding cake. My initial wedding cake design called for a base consisting of calla lilies cut and laid upright, wrapping around the base of the cake. Every baker and florist I visited told me that the designe was impossible and the fresh calla lilies themselves would cost $1000+ for the cake. I knew that practicality was important, but that news nearly crushed me and my dreams of a perfect wedding. Until I met Bonnie at Celebration Cakes. When I explained the situation to Bonnie, she was able to rethink my cake design so that it incorporated the calla lily elements I desperately wanted in my cake while making it affordable. Silk calla lilies instead of real ones? Of course that'll cut the cost - why didn't the other bakers think of it?! Using less yet still keeping the element of my design - perfect! Bonnie actually went out of her way when she grabbed calla lilies from a random bouquet and cut them to the dimensions I wanted and pinning them to the foam boxes of the same cake dimensions. At that point I fell in love with my cake and for the first time early in my wedding planning experience I felt excited about getting married. My husband did point out that it was the defining moment of our wedding planning. While Bonnie was immensely helpful in conceptualizing our cake design and visualizing her creative designs, sadly enough I chose a different baker for my wedding cake. Cake decorating was important in our decision, but the taste of the cake took precedence. We specifically told our bakers that we wanted an amaretto cake, and I don't know if it was a misunderstanding of our vendor appointmetns and she didn't know, but she didn't give us an amaretto cake to sample. It was a small yet very important detail that was overlooked, so we couldn't forgive her for that so we didn't pick her. And it made us feel better that the other cake we chose was slightly much better than waht she had. While taste of cake is a matter of personal preference, I highly recommend Bonnie and Celebration Cakes for the overall quality of cakes they have in addition to the amazing cake design service they offer.
