This was the first place I'd ever eaten in the key's a few years ago and it really set the tone for the trip there after. Returning a few years later I realize it doesn't have the best food for the best prices but it really does have a wonderful atmosphere. Almost all of it is open air and you have the breeze blowing straight from the ocean. You can watch people bringing in their catch and people jet skiing while you eat. If you look over the rail you can see Tarpon swimming around in the water below. They have fresh tasting fish mahi tacos like most places and a moist chef special sandwich which are both really good if you are watching your budget, and some very well cooked fish like grouper and snapper.

So we went on a friend trip because we wanted to spend time together and make plenty of memories because we all have a busy schedule. This place made our trip turn for the worse. It literally sucked from the beginning of arrival until the end. When we got there there were hostesses one with a faja (waist trainer) and both were possibly of Cuban descent. They were not accommodating at all because we were a party of 8 they said it would be impossible to seat us outside (when in reality they could have put two tables together) so they made us wait over half an hour to sit inside. We let that slide and sat and waited. The waiter sucked to be flat out he never came back to refill drinks or check on us and the Cuban sandwich was overpriced and was tiny and they literally serve it with 6 fries and it wasn't even good!!! The salad was as if they literally were trying to save money with nothing but lettuce, one cucumber and one tomato and didn't bother bringing the dressing. I know some businesses are struggling but jeez this place proved to me that they are with their tiny sandwich and sorry joke of a salad. At the end we were excited to pay and leave. Yeah the incompetent waiter messed up our very simple bill. I'll never recommend this place to nobody and the friend who recommended us here will tell the story of our service too. Don't do it people there are many other places here that'll take good care of their customers and have good food with it.

I thought it was pretty good. It was busy when we were there and we were treated well. The Mahi sandwich I had was the best I've ever had.

Food is OK, pricey for what it is as usual in the Keys. I had the Mahi Fruit Salad, which was surprisingly good, my wife had the Mahi Sandwich which was OK. Service is OK, people are nice, not the super friendly servers but they are not rude either. Bathrooms are not super clean. Very nice view and marina ambiance.

We had a fabulous time! Sat outdoors... The view was incredible. Food was awesome- we shared a broiled crab lunch and oysters. More food than my daughter and I could possibly imagine. Highly recommended you experience this restaurant.

We had the conch chowder and there was ONE piece of conch in IT and it was so salty that I could not even finish it. My daughter ordered a pasta dish and it was also dry and gross. She could not even taste the sauce on the dish. My husband ordered a pasta dish as well and he also complained that it was very salty. Overall the food tasted like it was not fresh, like the opened a can for the chowder and defrosted the rest of the food. Definetly not worth the $50 we spent. I would not recommend anyone go there.

They accidentally gave my 13 and 19 year old daughters alcohol drinks and still charged me otherwise their employees were very friendly. Food was decent large helpings as well. Excellent view!

  • Josh W.

Huge portions, well seasoned food. You can split the plates between two people. Service was ok, nothing special about the menu. Ok spot

  • Irina Y.

Not vegetarian obviously but you can easily get a great platter of sides, they're very accommodating, beautiful view and a good selection of drinks :)

Much like the other reviews, this place can be hit or miss. Our experience was extremely satisfying, but I can see how that could sour. Goods: the view of the ocean is absolutely fantastic! Very nice and relaxing. Our food was very tasty and our service was better than average. While we did not order dessert, the orders we saw delivered to table looked fabulous. Others: staff does se a little disorganized and the bathrooms are outside of the restaurant and not air conditioned.

The best thing about Wahoo's was the lobster and crab bisque. Besides that do not come here. The view is spectacular, but between the rude service, poor food quality, and depressing atmosphere it is not worth the high price. We had the fried sampler to start, and that was a mistake. The breading was thick and as hard as a rock. Everything was overcooked and tasteless. Which is really sad because I love conch. The fritters were saturated with oil and all we could taste was fried breading. The signature chef wahoo sandwich was covered with a thick coating of cheese (imagine plaster) to the point that you could no longer taste the fish. Neither of us finished our meal and our server never thought to ask if there was anything wrong. it is important to note that we arrived on a Monday afternoon. I feel that no matter or what time you dine at a restaurant the service and food quality should be the same. Unfortunately that does not always seems to be the case. Hopefully this was a case of poor timing and a really bad selection of employees during the Monday afternoon shift. I would highly suggest stopping somewhere else, there are plenty of excellent restaurants in the same location. Don't waste your time, apatite or money here.

Fair. Average. I had the mahi tacos and they were very good. Hubby had the blackened snapper and it was average. My daughter ordered chicken fingers and they came late and raw. We sent them back. They credited us her meal only and gave us a piece of sub par key lime pie to make up for it. Not worth the time.

Fantastic view for a drink and watching the fish, judge fish in the basin. Service is awful, slow and unfriendly. Food is just ok lemon pie is far good from the key west original... Key west beer draught is a good point ;-) Perfect place to do a pause before reaching Key west!

Loved my grouper sandwich. So fresh and large portions. My husband had the fish tacos and he said they are now his #1 favorite fish tacos. We also had the conch fritters and really enjoyed them. First time having conch and would eat those again for sure. Also got to see two manatees right off the balcony. Nothing like a bonus ambience.

The view from this place is amazing. We sat on the outdoor patio and watched the birds and the boats while we waited for our food. I'm not a big seafood guy so I tried the burger. It was delicious and it was big, I'm glad I didn't make it a double! My girlfriend had the mahi sandwich which was also huge, and delicious. Overall we had a very nice experience here.

Great food. Wait staff is very friendly. Used live in the keys for 10 years never stopped here before. Love the food. Sibella was a great waitress.

Good food, a bit too heavy but not more than in other places. wish we could try duck - which was never on stock... But apart from that good choice of food and drink, nice service and a great location.

Great Friday afternoon views over the sandbar. Bar team Tammy and Phil had the entire bar entertained. 50 cents wings at 4 pm well worth an extra beer. The Dirty Chips were the wife's favorite option for 5.95. Overlooking charters boats kept the afternoon interesting as well.

Sunday late lunch ~3pm 1. Wait time was 30 min and there were free tables. 2. After half an hour of waiting for our food we were starting to get mad and very hungry so my mom called the waiter and he said it would be 2-5 min. It was a lie. 3. We did not get our food until 40 min + of ordering. We ordered nothing complicated: Mediterranean salad, fried platter (conch, conch fritters, calamari, shrimp), and steak wrap. 3. You could barely see the shrimp. Food was ok, nothing special. 4. Restrooms were nasty. A couple was sat on the table next to us after approximately 30 min from when we got there. They got their soups before we got any food and their fried platter after 1 min from ours! The waiter who took out order disappeared and we never heard from him. Another waitress took over at some point and she was more attentive but the damage was already done. Plus she never mentioned that she was taking over our table. Overall a poor experience and would not recommend this place to any body. Not going back in a million years!!

The seafood was great 4 stars easy what made it bad was the service. Check your credit statements because I was overcharged. Also sit inside if you want your food to stay warm.

Beautiful location but average food. The shrimp and crab bisque is white and tastes more like chowder than bisque.

    love their bisque !!!!

  • Lance G.

Wow!! What a great place. My wife and I drove in from our Miami vacation and I'm so glad we ate here. Food was delicious, service was great and the scenery was beautiful. Highly recommended

  • Troy H.

Wahoos is the best view of anyplace in the florida keys. The smoked fish dip is what I would come for if I am coming for food. The cold beer and the elevated view is the selling point and it is beautiful. The shrimp and crab bisque is more of a chowder and there is an abundance of imitation crab. It tastes great, but please bump the price $2 and use real crab. In the keys, its a crime.

  • Thomas L.

Service is very slow they messed up the order after 30 minutes recommend don't coming here if you are hungry

Great view and with good food and service. I've enjoyed everything I've gotten there but the fish taco's are the best! I also love the atmosphere.

  • Diane H.

Not a very extensive menu but I had one of the best burgers of my life here! It's not a cheap place ($13 for a burger is the cheapest thing on menu) but it was huge and cooked to perfection!

  • Russ H.

We were coming back from key West after a great week and stayed in a nearby hotel... Yelp brought us to this local waterfront establishment. First of all what a view! From the bridge area... We were seated initially in the main dining area which doesn't allow you to order all the great happy hour deals which we came for. So ask for the overlook area. It provides this amazing view of the boats and the ocean. Ok so we had oysters on the half shell fabulous! Also conch sliders yumm! And sweet chili wings... Large servings... We couldn't finish it all. They also have great drink specials. So I highly recommend this place if you are ever in the Keys!

What a shame!!!! Great view, good food, terrible service!! One bartender on a Sunday afternoon when the kitchen is backed up 40 minutes!!! The poor girl running like a chicken without a head.... Not her fault thou, just poor management. Looking forward to having a better experience next time :)

  • Susan R.

Delish skirt steal wrap, portabella sandwich, and fried mahi mahi sandwich. Staff messed up on drink order and we ended up with double our order.... Thanks so much!

  • Jim D.

A Million Dollar view came with our lunch. Try the Mahi M hi tacos that come blackened. They were great and I had the Conch chowder. But if you really want to pig out next door is a seafood buffet but do come hungry. I was there one time for dinner with friends for two hours, I gave up on the lobster count. There is plenty of free parking only steps away and you can enjoy watching the boats go in and out. This is a great spot to hit going down to Key West or heading back to Miami

  • John P.

Great way to spend the evening... Awesome spot overall - impressive view! I can't really say how the food was, because all I had were the drinks - and they were tasty! Next time I go back, I will try the food! Go, sit, relax, and enjoy the view. I went, you should go!

Bartenders are extremely rude! Went on a Friday night at sunset. View was nice - but the service was so horrible it wasn't worth it. The bartenders ignored me - I had to walk up to the bar to get my check - where the younger bartender whispers to the older bartender them they laugh together while looking at my check - then the younger bartender yells out my total to the packed bar. REALLY!?! She clearly saw I had my debit card out and she would still have to walk to me to get it. They actions were just total unneeded and unacceptable. Visited April 2013

We loved this place. Buffet if you want it, but table service off of regular menus was our choice. Fish tacos were great, as were crab cakes. Smoked fish appetizer was large enough for 4.

We stopped here on Friday December 26th. We had CJ as our server. I have a feeling if we had a different server my review would be quite higher. He was very slow at getting to us and bringing our drinks once we ordered them, then he became elusive and we had to search him out to get our order placed. The food was fantastic and would go back based on that alone, however, when I looked at our bill- CJ upcharged my rail drink to a high end drink which I did not order or drink. We was padding the tab for a bigger tip, so with that being said, on a $130 tab, he received nothing from us as we felt stolen from. I work way to hard for my money to have someone try and pull a fast one on me. I can't say that this is the norm for this restaurant, however, we will never be back!!!!

  • james b.

This would get 4 stars for the food - I had a superb chef's special fish sandwich, and my wife really like the shrimp po boy. It's right on the water and the outdoors eating area is fantastic. The down side: our waiter was indifferent and slow. Never told us about the specials (we saw them on our way OUT). Didn't refill drinks. We had a hard time getting the check. That said, we'd go back, because the food was really good.

Excellent tuna steak cooked to perfection. The staff was fantastic and the view was absolutely beautiful. My friends and I went for lunch before leaving the keys and it was the perfect way to end our vacation.

  • Jame F.

I'm giving this place 4 stars because of the view...a great place to stop, stretch and grab a bite on the way to Key West. A typical tourist trap but prices aren't bad. There are 2 bars and plenty of outdoor seating. The staff is friendly and service was quick. As for food...it's your typical seafood and burger kind of place...but fresh and tasty. The most notable treat was the key lime pie, a huge, thick slice of goodness topped with a deep crown of meringue. So far, the best KLP on this trip! There's also a beach here and you can charter a deep sea fishing boat from this location. Definitely a nice little place to take a break from the long drive!

Stopped in Monday for lunch and were lucky that Margarita had a table in her section. She's the best in the Biz! Just some crab bisque and key lime pie, as there is no way I am in the keys and don't stop here for that! Service, Food & View are all world class! You have been told repeatedly.

We came to this dive after finding out that our favorite seafood buffet next door at Whale Harbor had been torn down. It is an upstairs bar and grill above the fishing docks. When we arrived, we were promptly seated at an indoors table. The atmosphere was pleasant, sort of like a comfy pub. The server arrived at our table and immediately took our drink order. When he returned with our drinks a few minutes later, he explained the menu, including appetizers and specials. We ordered an appetizer and asked for a few more minutes to decide on our meal. I ordered a cracked conch sandwich with a garden salad and honey mustard dressing. Our appetizer was excellent. The salad was fresh, and the dressing was excellent. My conch sandwich was so large and had so much conch that I ate very little of the bread, which wasn't necessary because of the generous portion of tasty french fries. Although I am not partial to fried foods, I found the conch to be delicious. Although some of the reviewers found this place to be pricey, I thought it most reasonable compared to other restaurants in Islamorada. Although we arrived about 30 minutes before closing, everything was exactly as good as I would have expected two or three hours before and I was not aware of their being out of anything. It was dark, so we could not see the view, although I expect that it is excellent, since I well know this part of the island. The server was excellent and most attentive to our needs. He came often enough to ensure that our needs were met but not so often as to be intrusive. Although we were disappointed about the Whale Harbor Seafood Buffet, this was an excellent alternative, and we would like to go back. The bartender told us that the buffet had suffered severe damage in a fire last November and that the owner had decided to use the insurance money to rebuild in the lot behind the old restaurant and add new parking in the front, which we can tell you was sorely needed. Although the website indicates that it will reopen in the fall of 2014, she expressed her doubt that it will be before spring 2015.

This place has awesome views!!!! The service is good and the food is rhetorical Keys fare. I've never had a bad meal here. The ambiance, super cold beer, and the views make this place worth the trip. Eat outside, or sit at the bar and gossip with the perpetually sunburned, salty smelling, drunken locals and charter boat captains. Always a good time.

    (4)
  • Chris S.

We used to always stop here on our family trips to the Keys when I was a little kid. Pretty sure the name has changed since then, there are more buildings around and the fishing boats anchored downstairs have become fancier and much larger. Oh how times have changed... What hasn't changed much is the restaurant itself: Mind-blowing view, great burger (surprisingly enough for a seafood place) and charming service. So good we might as well go again tonight.

Came by boat around 5pm on a Sunday and the bar was poppin'! They have a great Happy Hour special on food and drinks which is probably why almost all the seats were taken. The margarita was alright, a little inexplicably salty but overall enjoyable for $3. I would stick with a draft beer next time. The oysters were superb!!!! Fresh and salty and really what we needed after a day on the boat. They also had peel n eat shrimp, we'll get some next time. A great place to come hang out and watch all the fishermen pull in with the days catch.

  • David D.

The view of this Bar is really good. Usually a nice breeze, comings and goings of fishing vessels are entertaining. Beer on tap is cold. The food is good. The ONLY complaint I/We have is the cold fish barperson. Julie. She seems unable to hide her arrogance and disdain of new customers, and gushes over the"locals" . Despite the long bar needing 2 tenders at times she greedily serves all poorly..And no I didnt hit on her...I dont like tramp stamps..

i came here with my wife on our way to miami. i ordered the full fried snapper with yellow rice and veggies. it was a lightly fried snapper with some bones in it. a little salt, pepper, and lemon juice..... mmmmm it brought out the white fish flavors! my wife had mahi mahi fish tacos which were excellent. there is a little mandarin orange in the tavo accenting the fish and all the herbs and seasonings. eating on the sevond floor gives an excellent view of the dock that most places cant offer.

  • Marc C.

Awesome view and solid food make this place a regular stop when we drive from Miami to Key West. Painted in bright funky colors, it really puts you in the vacation mood. When were there last, we watched four kite surfers playing. It was a nice touch. The food is solid but not spectacular. I liked the fish tacos and the grilled tuna sandwich. The shrimp in the shrimp poor boy nearly spill off the plate. The fries are kinda mushy. If you're on your way to Key West, have lunch, a glass of Key West Sunset Ale and Wahoo's will get you in the proper state of mind.

  • Bri B.

Food was overpriced and service was very poor. There were empty tables everywhere, but none available to my small party of two.... Food was good, not great. I had the mahi tacos. They were not fresh fish, and thats expected in a keys restaurant. There are far more places way better, and still has the same beautiful view you can get here. Skip.

  • Erin L.

I've been here a few times and it's always been pretty good. The service is okay, the past part of this place is the view. There was one thing on the menu that made this place worth a visit. That is the Ahi tuna burger, it was amazing! Now, they no longer carry tuna. there is now no reason to come here. I dont recommend it. But if you want an okay seafood place with a beautiful veiw, you should stop in.

  • Michelle W.

Stopped in here for a lazy lunch on a trip in the Keys. Things I liked: - Awesome view - giant pelicans chillin' in your view - cold beer - fried shrimp on my sandwich rocked - HUGE amounts of food on the sandwiches we got, I couldn't even close mine because there was so much shrimp! Not so much: - fried conch was REALLY chewy, I would avoid this - pretty much everything on the menu is fried... not a big fan of fried foods - not the best beer selection, but who cares with that view!

  • Ketty H.

Nice view but the bartender (blonde chick) was horrible. Didn't even acknowledge us. Kept walking right past us. Really? Don't offer me a menu if you are going to walk past me 6 times and not take my order.

  • Noah Van H.

Situated above the Whale Harbor inn, it is one of my favorite places to get a drink and have some appetizers while watching the boats go by. The happy hour there has some great deals and the food is good. A fun place to wile away the afternoon.

Best AHI TUNA BURGER!!! You should really stop here on your way to any of the keys. It has a nice little view to the open sea....

  • Bill G.

My wife and I, along with 2 friend ate lunch there. We sat in the bar area that overlooked the water. The menu had a variety of food. I ordered the grilled fish tacos and my wife ordered the grilled chicken. Both items were very good. This was my first time having fish tacos, and I enjoyed them. This wouldn't be my first choice, but I would go back there.

    (4)
  • Lance P.

We sat inside because the outside sitting was full and full of smokers, I do not like smoke with my dinner. I thought the prices were steep for what we you got. The waiter was friendly and the food did not take to long after ordering. The fish tacos were just OK, not the best I have ever had.

    (2)
  • Rhona F.

Friends took us here for an light dinner on a rather dismal day. What a treat. We sat outside enjoying a light warm wind overlooking the water. The table shared a conch fritter appetizer which was very tasty. On our friends recommendation (they eat here all the time) we ordered conch sliders which were delicious along with a nice glass of wine. A nice place to have a nice casual dinner.

  • Linda H.

Ummm, the service here was so bad it was comical. We sat at the bar and I felt like I was wearing some kind of cloaking device. We sat there what seemed like FoReVeR while we watched young bartender wait on people to our right, then to people who sat down after us to our left. The people on our left got drinks AND ordered food before the bartender even made eye contact with us. I was literally flailing my arms two feet away from this guy and still nothing! OMFG! Some other guy came on the scene (couple to our right said he was the assistant manager or something). Anyway, after more arm flailing, he came over and we got a drink. After a couple requests we even got menus! We accosted manager dude to order (still no eye contact from bartender). It was SOO weird even ordering though...we speak perfectly good English, as did manager dude but EVERYTHING I said he was like "I don't understand what you are saying". OMG I got blackened grouper sliders and they were EXCELLENT, and actually hot! BF got cold shrimp and he said they were good. We also got some Reese's peanut butter cup dessert (not an easy task ordering that either). Also, the ONLY way we were able to get another drink is if they were delivering our food. So I say to BF to watch bartender dude be nice to us since we are ready to leave (and tip)...and lo and behold he finally actually made eye contact and smiled as he brought check! I will say that the prices are reasonable here. I really can't even convey the weirdness of it. Oh well, I will never be back (but for what it's worth, we still left a good tip 'cuz that's how we roll).

While I was a travelin' Jolina in the Keys, I stopped into WAHOO's a few times. The view is beautiful. I can't really say much more than that. You have to see for yourself. You don't even need to have company, just sit, drink, and stare out into the beautiful ocean. Ah-mazing! You get to watch all the boats come in and see what they have caught for the day which is always fun!!! They have some drink specials for everyday, I believe, but don't quote me. The bartender, Teri, is amazing. She takes care of everyone and makes sure their drinks are always full, their palettes are always happy, and we are entertained with her comic wit! She is always on top of everything. I wanted to take her home with me! The drinks are good, the fried Conch is soooo good! THE KEY LIME PIE IS ORGASMIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I picked up a piece on my way out of town to the airport, and was going to try and bring it on the plane with me for my boyfriend back home to try(and yes, of COURSE I left him at home while I was in paradise!).... However, the pie didn't last more than 2 minutes after I took "one bite" before I left.... *shrug* Oops :D ... I ain't even sorry!!!

  • Xiaohui L.

The key lime pie is the worst terrible pie I've ever had, just ordered two soup, crab leg and key lime pie. The two soups are the first two soups in the menu, I'm Chinese and my boyfriend is Irish, neither of us like any of the soups. And the key lime pie, really couldn't taste anything else but very strong lime smell. Maybe better order something else in the menu. Would definitely not visit there again.

We decided to go bar hopping while we were in Key Largo, and this happened to be our first stop. We had a super nice bartender, she took very good care of us. I am one to try local beers over what I am used to drinking, so I asked how good the Key West was. She asked if I would like a sample, and instead of giving me a shot glass or whiskey glass to sample she gives me a full size beer and says its on the house. Needless to say she got a nice tip when we left for the next bar. The only disappointing factor was that our bartender's boyfriend and his friends decided to show up. We got dirty looks the entire time they were there, because we were talking to his girlfriend. Jealous boyfriends should not come to your place of business. Other than that we had a great time.

Imitation crab meat in the crab and shrimp bisque , for a seafood restaurant on the water in the Florida keys , this was a HUGE disappointment. The soup was tasty enough I suppose but I feel cheated, are we to believe they can't get fresh crab meat or was it a chThe little neck clams were the smallest I have ever seen, the sauce was good but the clams were over- cooked to the point where some of them could no longer be consider a food item. Be prepared the entrees run from 25 to 50. Service was attentive and friendly so at least they have that going for them. The cook should should consider a new line of work, note I didn't call him a chef. Whoever is buying the seafood obviously doesn't care about quality. I guess when your catering to tourists who will most likely never return why bother serving the good stuff. Beautiful views of the water so over all not the worst experience we ever had, we will just never return but I'm sure they expected that. I have read the mixed reviews on the key lime pie lime so I cautiously ordered it, not the best not the worst, a generous portion and steep price $9.00 but I'm convinced it was made from a can I could be wrong but the lime was definitely not fresh. Find another place to eat , this is more bar the restaurant and not worth it. After paying the $200 bill it felt like a mugging.

We went to the all you can eat buffet there on the ground. They food was really good but not quite excellent. The price of $30 a person for the buffet was a little much for the quality of food, but the food was tasty. The servers were really good too.

  • Douglass M.

Atmosphere was good but the fried fish basket did not come with Mahi Mahi. This was a bit surprising considering there were docks below the restaurant where freshly caught dolphin were being brought in each day. It's not a place I would avoid but it doesn't scream "not to be missed."

The food was really good here, as well as the service. The portions were HUGE, which isn't a BAD thing haha. The waiter we had was very attentive and always made sure our drinks were full and that we were happy. I would definitely eat here again.

Worth the view, but the food has always been lacking. Coming through the keys, especially heading south, it is hard to miss this place right on the point of a key. The giant sign will let you know with certainty that you have reached the right place. Most of the seating is outside, and there are great views of the water. When ever I have come here I have sat up stairs at the bar over looking the Atlantic ocean, and had a beer from the tap, served in a plastic cup for a real casual feel. The service is nice, as I would expect from a place that does most of its business from the tourist industry, and it is worth mentioning they will keep your beer full at all times. So be aware of this if you are driving. Here is the down side to this fun place. The food. In the keys, even at a bar I would expect decent sea food, but here every thing is rubbery each time I have been here. There is no fresh savory taste, and not a single time have I finished my meal. Now when I stop here with friends I stick to a beer or two and let them discover the food for themselves. In fact I only stop here with my out of town friends who think it looks like a great place to stop and they can't be dissuaded from stopping. There are much better places to stop here in the keys. If you just want a drink this is a great place, but if you are eating, keep going.

For the life of me, I can't figure out why a restaurant would name both a rum-based fruity cocktail (the kind that one might naturally order on the first afternoon of a Florida vacation) and a non-alcoholic smoothie (the kind that some fat girl who doesn't drink might order) the Lava Flow. Doesn't anyone in charge of Wahoo's Bar & Grill even consider the possibility that having two identically-named items on the menu might create some confusion, especially when I'm trying to get mildly buzzed and I'm having difficulty figuring out if there's any alcohol in my beverage? Otherwise, the food was so-so and a bit expensive. The fish tacos would've been better on soft tortillas (so that they wouldn't get damp and fall apart in the middle before one even lifted them off the plate), and the conch fritters would have likely benefited from the inclusion of at least a few visible pieces of conch.

We had a smashing lunch here overlooking the marina, and by the time we finished a couple of boats had come in and were unloading the morning's catches - excellent. Also excellent were the oysters, at $12 a dozen, and the islamorada smash - a couple of rums and every fruit juice imaginable - almost indistinguishable from their mai tai but i let that pass. Great al fresco diing, great food and very decnet prices. I loved this place.

Very good place to eat. Service is top notch, with an outstanding view. We always make this our first stop when returning to the keys!

Food was alright, we went about 3pm or so and I felt like I stepped into a scene of Deliverance it must have local's only day, straight hillbillies some even toothless...the bartenders seemed to know them all if you know what I mean...they were all talking like last nights orgy or whatever...the view was great and the beer was cold...I asked for a Johnny Walker Black and she gave me a Crown Royal...what do you expect from the deep south

After waiting 30 minutes for the blond bartender to acknowlege us, we got up and left. We were sitting at the bar, she kept passing by but wouldnt stop. We tried to get her atention but she wouldnt even look our way.

Okay, we stopped here on a Saturday to try the seafood buffet at Whale Harbor...FYI, it opens at two...not noon. So we took our starving selves to Wahoo... It has a great view. My two friends tried the mojito and strawberry mojito. They both were awesome..i heard the strawberry one is sweeter. We had an order of conch fritters to hold us over...:) Service was really nice...Made a relaxing afternoon!!

My husband, sister-in-law, brother-in-law and nephew came here for the first time the other night while visiting the Keys. We requested to sit outside since it was such a beautiful night and it was overlooking the marina. We were sat right away which was nice. The waitress came over right away to take our drink orders and then came right back to take our food orders. My BIL and I both ordered a bowl of the Shrimp and Crab Bisque before our entree which we both thought was excellent. It was super thick and creamy with a TON of crab (which I think was immitation - kind of strange being that we were in the Keys, but honestly, it was SO good that we didn't care) and then I ordered 1/2 lb. of the snow crab legs as my entree, SIL ordered the Haystack Chicken Salad, BIL ordered the Cracked Conch sandwich and Hubby ordered the Fried Shrimp Po' Boy. Mine was okay but like I said that night, you can't really blame the restaurant if the snow crabs aren't sweet so nothing against them. BIL's was ridiculously good, conch was so fresh and cooked perfectly, SIL liked hers and hubby was very happy with his as well. The amount of shrimp they put on his and the amount of conch they put on BIL's was insane, especially for the price. Normally you go to a restaurant and for the same price as this place, they put a baby's handful as if that's enough. Overall, the food is very well seasoned, the service was good and the view is fantastic. We all agreed that we'd be back next time we go to the Keys.

Stopped by for lunch during a work day in the keys. The view, as others have said, is very nice so we sat outside and watched the fisherman come in. It was a gorgeous day, warm but not hot with a touch of a breeze. I ordered a Shrimp Cesar salad which was ok. The shrimp was really good but the lettuce was a little brown around the edges and it was a lot of the white part of the lettuce which I don't like. The salad was $14 and definitely not worth the money, but then again prices in the keys are definitely higher than the mainland. My friend ate a grilled mahi sandwich and she said it was good. It was a better deal for $14 since it also came with fries. Overall a good place to have some drinks and a casual bite. Just be prepared to pay for the view!

Three stars only because it has a great view, probably one of the best in the Keys. Especially when the sand bar is full of boats. The food is mediocre even by Keys standards. Stick with the draft beer and anything fried that you can stomach. (The standard Keys meal.)

This place only gets 3 stars because of the view! The view is phenomenal. If you go here, definitely eat outside. After checking into our resort we drove around looking for a place to eat. For some reason, my husband decided to stop there. I think its because every time he comes to the keys to fish (monthly) he see's it all lit up at night. I'll admit, the place had always sparked my curiosity. First and foremost our server seemed lost. I daresay he was new there, but his name tag looked a little worn. Or maybe he was high. Who knows. He was attentive at first but after we ordered our appetizer he disappeared. The appetizer came and was gone and we were waiting about 10 minutes for him to show up again. I had expected him to come take our food order before we got our appetizer and definitely before we were done with it! We had the Smoked Fish Spread which was good. I would have loved it even more if half of the tortilla chips weren't soggy. My husband had the burger and he said it wasn't bad. I wasn't too hungry so I opted for the soup of the day which was the Cheddar Cheese Beer soup. What a disappointment. First of all, it didn't look good or smell that nice. I attributed the odd color and smell to the beer. It had a very bitter salty taste and had bits of cornmeal in it which I did not care for. Thank goodness I only ordered the cup. In their defense, I was expecting something similar to the Cheddar Cheese Soup served at Le Cellier in Epcot (WDW). I guess I had very high standards and was expecting something better.

Being perhaps the only place we passed that was open on Thanksgiving day, with a full parking lot no less, we decided to give Wahoo's a try. The setting was great, outdoor seating on the second floor with a view of the harbor. I tried the conch fritters (for the first time). I'm not yet sure whether I don't like conch fritters or I don't like their conch fritters, but I was unimpressed. Generally I am a fan of similar things. The fish tacos were good, but certainly not the best I've had. The fries were crispy and flavorful. My companions had a fish sandwich and an ahi tuna sandwich and were pleased with their selections. The fish sandwich had a generous amount of fish in it. Overall, the food was good...no complaints, but nothing to rave about.

We saw some kite surfers as we were driving by and doubled back for a beer and some conch fritters at this place. It had outdoor seating on an elevated deck with a great view of the water. I had a Bahamian Conch Chowder (tomato based with veggies) that was delicious and a salad. The conch fritters were well spiced by a little mushy. Still they were the best we found in the keys. I saw a lot of food come out that looked delicious, so the next time I'm in the keys I'll try to make a stop here. The fish tacos looked great. One tip: it started raining in the already strong wind and as people ran for the inside of the restaurant a flock of seagulls descended on a table to eat the remaining food. Keep your plate close! Service was great. Very attentive, very nice wait staff.

We have been to the keys several times in the last few years and this place has had the best seafood I have eaten thus far. From apps to desert, I just couldn't get enough! The entire staff was fun and friendly, the service was great and the view is to die for! The place was clean, nicely lit and the tables are not right on top of each other. The drinks were great and flowed steadly. I would highly recommend stopping in when visiting the keys.

  • Mel L.

I thought the food here was amazing. Be sure to get the conch fritters, they were excellent. The conch chowder wasn't anything special. I ordered the Ahi Tuna Burger, extra rare, and it was probably the best Ahi dish I've ever had. I got the drink special of the night, muddled margarita. It wasn't extra ordinary, just tasted like a regular margarita without much alcohol. Ignore Google's directions, you can find them at mile marker 83.5.

This is a casual place with a great view of the water and good food. I would definitely recommend it as a place to stop for lunch or some cold beers. I had the fish tacos, and they were quite tasty.

So happy that the friendly people over at A1A Watersports recommended this place. It's located right next to a charter boat fishing marina with giant tarpon hanging out by the docks. The place itself is spacious (and had wonderful air conditioning- it was really hot out), but we chose to sit on the second floor patio overlooking the ocean and the marina. The views were gorgeous, and there was a perfect breeze. Our server was very friendly and prompt, and the food was great. I had the ceviche appetizer....more than enough to share or to have as a meal, my husband had the mahi sandwich, and our son had a good old reliable burger. The serving sizes were large considering the prices. Everyone was very happy with their food which, unfortunately, left very little room for the massively- sized key lime pie we saw go by our table. I had a rum runner (a must when in the Keys) and it was really tasty (but could've used a little more rum). Overall, we really enjoyed our visit to Wahoo's. We'll be back!

PROS: -they serve food -somewhere to eat while road-tripping -seeing other humans eat and people-watching CONS -the service is pretty awful -the food is mediocre -mean waitresses -extremely overpriced OK so my friend ordered food for us. The waitress explained she could not bring it out all at the same time because she only had "two hands." She actually snarled at him because he ordered "too much food for us." Since this is Spanish waitress with really bad teeth

    (2)
  • James B.

I'm giving a 2 and not a 1 bc the food was decent....I came to Wahoo's with a large party. We split the check 3 ways. At the end of our dinner, the waitress comes over and asks us if the service was okay and if there was anything that she could improve on because one of our parties left her a bad tip. She literally called out one of our couples bc she wasn't happy with the tip that they left.... This is extremely unprofessional... She was an older/middle aged server, strong spanish accent (I want to say Cuban). Extremely disrespectful gesture on her part... The food: -Cracked Conch: Conch Lightly battered & fried, served with cajun remoulade. No complains, decent appetizer dish. $13 a bit on the pricey side. -Shrimp & Crab Chowder in a creamy, sherry spiked stock. This was very meaty with plenty of shrimp and crab. The creamy stock is exactly what chowder should be. Bowl $7 Great Value. -Smothered Mahi Sandwich: Mahi topped with a lemon mushroom sauce and a cheese medley. This one was a bit disappointing. I actually did not really enjoy the sauce at all. I would have preferred the sandwich without it. At $17, bad value! -Shrimp Po' Boy: Fried baby shrimp piled high served on a pan neba roll with cajun remoulade. Plenty of fried shrimp on the roll...can't go too wrong with that. The remoulade adds a nice layer of flavor. Solid 4 out of 5. At $15 the value is about right. Would I be back? Hell no, not after our experience with that waitress. The food was average. There were some good dishes but overall I probably wouldn't come back for the food either.

Okay, I fell for it. Your dumb "Seafood Buffet" sign right in front of your restaurant got me to stop in. When we went in and asked about it we even fell for your dumb excuse and went ahead and looked at your menu. Ended up staying cause, hey we're already here. Which is exactly what you wanted, right? I just figured why not? The problem is there is a good reason why not. You're food is overpriced and just barely mediocre. Hence, the need for the false advertising ploy I guess. I got the Mahi tacos. Meh. The flour tortillas were more or less raw and were clearly store bought. By the way, throwing three mandarin orange slices into the taco doesn't make it "tropical" or whatever you were going for. My wife had an appetizer of fried food. Meh. The conch was so chewy it was inedible. The rest was also almost certainly store bought. Sure, the view was nice. But hardly irreplaceable. Sorry. Just not a fan.

Stopped in yesterday for lunch as we were looking for a new place to eat. The parking was convenient as well as the seating was plentiful with great views of the water as well as manatees and a school of tarpon. The service was very prompt and courteous. My husband had the steak wrap and I the Mahi Mahi soft tacos. The food was deliciously prepared and was a good size portion. We definitely will stop here again in the near future.

We had a great experience here tonight , even if it was closing time we had the best meal and the best service . We had shrimp , lobster and fresh grilled fish Cobye . Everything was fresh and just made for us . I had the chance to read some bad review from other customer and I sincerely do not approve at all with the way people get to yelp commenting on hard working business , if the waitress come and ask what she could have done better to get tip from you she is not being unprofessional she is just concern about her job , if you put 2 star and do not come back for that is probably because you feel ashamed of your self !!! Well done waitress !!! I don t know you but I approve !!!! I think yelp should give customer the possibility to comment review because people is taking advantage of it ! Will definitely be back , can't wait !

Five stars for Happy Hour!!! The happy hour drink specials rock and the happy hour snack menu is perfect for that yummy, salty spot you just gotta satisfy. The thin, delicious, Fried Pickles (where the breading actually stays with each pickle) and Dirty Chips (homemade, huge potato chips topped with ground beef, cheese, lettuce and tomato) were my favorites! They also have peel and eat shrimp, cracked conch sliders and great wings. The negative reviews just make me shake my head...seriously people, it's a DIVE!! It's a BAR! Loosen up and remember where you are....the Florida Keys! All in all, it's great place to dock your boat, sip on a cold beer, chow on sinful snacks and enjoy the breeze!!!

Got sucked in to going here because of the false advertising out front. Sign says "seafood buffet". Apparently that is from an old restaurant, but the sign is right in front of the building, and even in the same color scheme as Wahoos. Had the conch chowder and cracked conch sandwich with 2 coconut coladas. The chowder was ok. The conch was dry and chewy. Could not fold the sandwich because the bread broke and everything fell out. So I just ate the conch pieces. Well, I tried... It was pretty gross. The drinks were very watered down. So I had another, usually 2 and I'm done. I didn't even have a warm feeling after 2 drinks. IMO don't waste your valuable vacation time. Spend it somewhere decent. The only thing great about this place is the location/view. If you sit outside, be prepared to fight the swarm of giant black flies the entire time your food is on the table.

  • Kim W.

Seriously, it's good food! Buffet is closed for remodeling, but you get more than you can eat. Try the shrimp and crap chowder, it's the bomb! Ray our waiter was awsome and helpful. Very "on it". The only thing wrong is you can't see the sunset...oh well, you can't have it all!

Only swung through for drinks upon arriving to Islamorada - met friends here before heading off for some other activities. + Great view - fun to watch the seagulls and charter boats + Nice and shady, with just a hint of sunshine making its way under the covered deck - Very limited beer selection (3 Islamorada Brewing Company, and a few macros) - Everything is in plastic cups - Non-happy hour prices are a bit high (two tap beers were $14) + Happy hour prices are excellent (two tap beers were $6.50) - Only one bartender available for a fairly large bar I'd return to check it out again.

I'm giving 3 stars only because of the waitress who messed up our order! We waited 25 mins for our lunch.... Then they came two the table and 2 of the 4 sandwiches were WRONG!!! The topper was we ordered the "classic catch of the day". ($15)So we asked what the catch of the day was. She said grouper, mahi, and snapper. We ordered three grouper sandwiches... 20 MINS AFTER comes to us and said the grouper is $20 each. I said the coach of the day, when asked, you stated the three fish. Why am I paying $20 for a fish sandwich when it says $15? She said that's the price I said then make it mahi if this $15..... HELLOOOO!! WTF!! This service has never happens before. I have been coming to wahoo's since 1992!! Very disappointing

  • KS J.

the service was slow and inattentive. the shrimp tasted weird and kind of expired. the portions could have been bigger for the prices charged. but other than that, it's a pretty decent location with a good view of the waters.

  • Kara T.

Grouper sandwich didn't blow me away, but I wasn't particularly disappointed either. I wish there had been more fish and the tomato was... Less mushy. The fries needed more seasoning. Seeing reviews and noting location, the restaurant actually wasn't too far from what I expected.

Amazing service and food! Fried Snapper was a 5 star! Cuban sandwich wasn't that great but you don't go to a fish restaurant and have a Cuban sandwich. Definitely coming here again.

This is an interesting Floirda Roadside attraction. It's a second story open-air bar connected to a large restaurant also open air and with another bar. Has a divvy appearance. We were there in mid-afternoon, but you could tell that lots of good times could be had there. I didn't have much hope for the food, but figured it would be adequate. Gordon had shrimp fettuccine that was great, not too creamy with large shrimp. I had their signature grilled Mahi Mahi sandwich. Early our server warned that a lot of people didn't like it. It had a good description. Served open faced with cheese and mushrooms. The fish was large and perfectly grilled. However, whoever had the idea to overwhelm it with mushrooms was totally misguided gastronomically. A potentially great Signigure dish gone terribly wrong. Their homemade key lime pie was good enough to make for the un-inspired Signature Mahi Mahi Sandwich. In overview, service was good, large menu, goos water views.

The happy hour view is very nice and pleasant and really made for a good view, unfortunately with it being on the Ocean Side there is no sunset to see. Still the HH was not bad, a good change of scene from my usual hang outs of Hogs Heaven and Lor E Lie.

  • Ashlee W.

Great food and great service! We stopped in to use the restroom, and ended up staying for the food and the view. Three of us split an order of "dirty chips" that were awesome. The peel and eat shrimp were great, as were the Mahi Mahi tacos. The caprese chicken wrap was a perfect light lunch, and the breeze coming in off the water was perfect. Overall, great place to eat, I would definently recommend it!

The portion sizes were very good. The food was excellent. Service was good as well. The only negative is was we never received out appetizer.

    (4)
  • Tammy M.

The view was beautiful. It was the best part of the experience. The food was mediocre. As a seafood restaurant, I expected more fish options. They only serve three types of fish: Grouper, Mahi Mahi, and Yellow Tail Snapper. For the price of the meals, I expected more. They were understaffed. Since the server had numerous table, he was unable to be as attentive as expected. Drinks were only refilled once upon request. The overall experience was average. If you are seeking a location with a great view, this is the place for you.

The blackened Mahi Mahi was very tasty and the staff very friendly. I also got a small house salad that was a generous portion with much cheese. Conch fritters were ok. It was a nice stop before leaving the area.

So I'm giving this place 4 instead of 5 because the service was not amazing but it was ok. The ceviche was not good, but the mussels and the fish dip was AMAZING!!!! It is definitely good for the appetizers; we didn't have any real food just aps and drinks.

I really wish I could give this place 3.5 stars because that's exactly what you will get here. They have a nice view and are located next to a resort private beach and a tiki bar. The food is a hit and miss, we had a lot of dishes to share amongst them were chicken wings, mahi mahi salad, cheeseburgers and oysters. The clam chowder was excellent, flavorful but not too heavy. The oysters were incredibly fresh! I really really loved the oysters we had two dozen ($15 a dozen) and some margaritas that were great. The chicken wings were okay, not drenched in buffalo sauce but the breading was too thin. The mahi mahi salad was good, their portion size is weird like the salad was big enough as a meal but the calamari was a really small portion for $12. Overall if you're in the area this is a good place to have drinks, oysters and fish/burgers. Also don't expect amazing service!

  • Kelly H.

I am only giving this place two stars because of the pretty view from the outside bar area that overlooked the water and marina. We sat down at the bar to have a couple drinks and we weren't acknowledged for about 10 minutes. We finally ordered beer and the next thing we know, the bartender is giving it to another couple a few seats down because he couldn't remember who it went to. He was more interested in chatting up the drunk girls next to us than doing his job. Apparently everyone calls him "Beefcakes", but he really should be called "Brainless." We were also going to order some appetizers, but we overheard that the kitchen was backed up, so we decided to chug down our beer and get out of there. Between not being able to grab a bite within a decent amount of time and having to listen to the bartender talk about having good looking babies with the drunk girl next to us, we couldn't have gotten out of there sooner. Also....did I mention that the parking is absolutely horrendous?

Great food and great service . Stop there for lunch today and was very surprised how good the food was! It was some of the best seafood I've ever had and the Key Lime pie was incredibly good!! The service with bartender Phil was grade A! I would Highly recommend the food, service and great view of the ocean !

    (5)
  • Z X.

Overpriced and underwhelming. Menu is limited and food is ordinary, but not bad. Cole slaw swimming in mayonnaise though. There was little, if any, rum added to $9 drinks. One gets the feeling they could make people feel like they are getting their money's worth instead of ripped off. People are friendly, but would not go back.

Outstanding! What a great place. No waiting and outstanding food. Great ambiance and our servers were outstanding! We sat right on the water with amazing views. I always drag out-of-towners and Keys newbies to Wahoo's for a drink from the bar overlooking the marina. The drinks aren't always well made, I will admit. And I've only eaten the peel n' eats (good) and their seafood chowder (best chowder in south Florida, for sure). So it's with the mediocrity of their bar and non-descript other food, but the amazing views that I fall somewhere in the middle and give them just 3 stars. They're a definite must if you're a tourist or showing your tourist friends the Keys. The views are breathtaking and you can sit there with a cold one and just enjoy.

Came to the keys to relax with a couple friends. This restaurant has a beautiful breezy view. Service was excellent and food was delicious! I had the whale fries (yum) and friends had the shrimp platter. Tried the ceviche and it was excellent. Our server was friendly and helpful. We also saw a manatee in the bay. Definitely go there to enjoy the view and the breeze! Two thumbs up!

Best hand muddled margarita in Islamorada! The view from the bar is beautiful and there are a lot of local boat captains to chat with.

It's rather unlike me to write a review after only having had one dining experience, but the view of the ocean and the service was so good, I haven't any hesitation in recommending Wahoo's on that basis alone. I did have their fish tacos which came three to a plate, all large size, all delicious and nicely prepared. Hence, though not necessarily anything unique or worth raving about, considerably above average for the area and at least good enough to keep me coming back for more.

My go to place to make me happy! The shrimp & crab bisque is a MUST. Been coming to this restaurant for 3 years (often) and haven't been disappointed once. It's all a win-win. Family and puppy friendly.

I have been in this place before and I have to say that I am not impressed. However, having said that, it's not a place that would impress anybody. It is a fisherman hang out. They have fresh seafood and a nice view of the ocean. We shared the Ceviche which was very good. We ordered a fish grouper sandwich, conch fritters, a Cuban sandwich and a fish taco. They have a fairly good conch fritters, but the rest of the food was not that impressive. Especially, the Cuban sandwich wasn't good @all. The service was slow but it's normal for the keys. I can't criticize it because it is the keys. I personally like the keys for that lay back attitude.

Ended up here after a long day of outdoor activities. We were exhausted and hungry. Driving up we saw that the place was packed , so decided on stopping. No outdoor seating was available so had to sit indoors. Honestly it was fine, it felt intimate. Our waitress who at first seemed like she didn't even want to be there was actually very nice . The service she provided was outstanding. In fact, half of my sons hot dog fell out of the bun on to the floor and she brought another one without charge. My daughter and I had the Mahi Mahi sandwich which was pretty good. I have had better but it was satisfying. The fried batter was just right. The drinks were affordable and the wine glasses were filled to the rim which I do appreciate. My husband had the oysters, he says they were unimpressive but did enjoy the grouper. All in all like any tourist trap, it's about the experience. The scenery was beautiful. Watching the sunset from the marina while enjoying a chilled glass of wine was pleasurable. Not sure if I will be back. But can now say been there done that.
