Frozen yogurt is not my favorite dessert, period, but I intend to rate Mochi on how well they do what they do and not on the overall feelings I have about their product area--that's only fair. Like their two other Gainesville shops, this Mochi sports innovative, downright futuristic, interior design by Gainesville's own Magnum Wood (architectural supply shop and model-makers) and despite the small interior space, they really made it fly. It's a beautiful, entralling, place to stop in after dinner and it's a lot of fun, too. The frozen yogurt is good for frozen yogurt and the selection of toppings is diverse. They change out the flavors quite often and normally have a couple really exotic ones. As to the review by the person who was upset with the "rude" manager, I've never had any issue with any of the staff at any of the city's three Mochi shops--ever. Most are young female UF students with that generic UF "HI!!! I'm a marketing major and know it's Gatorland and I should be super super outgoing!!!" attitude, but that's fine. Certainly far from rude. Also, as someone with well over 400 reviews to my credit, I do not trust people who sign up and write one review simply because they have an axe to grind. Pretty lame, that.

OK my friend got an entire cup. I just tried 3 sampler cups. We walked in if you ask they will give you some sampler cups. I sampled the green tea, coconut something, and the chocolate. IMO I like Dee-Lites better than Mochi. But the samples I had were good. I think it was .35 cents per oz. His pretty good sized cup full came to 9 oz. so $3 ish for a good desert. Not a bad deal at all. I read the other reviewers comment on gluten, and the lack of assistance or customer service. Bummer deal. Good customer service seems hard to find these days. But we didn't have any issues. In fact the lady behind the counter was very nice.

I have frequented this mochi location two or three times now, so this is moreso a cumulative review... Mochi is located under the Hampton Inn and Suites across from Dragonfly. It is not as atmospheric as the Archer Road mochi, and I feel it is a little darker as well, but the product is still the same. I came in on a Thursday night and the place was about 1/5 full. No one at the yogurt stations or topping bar. When I walked in, the two girls at the counter were just sort of staring... I had to go up to them to ask for a sample cup. They don't really vary in their flavors so much because they have their standard popular flavors. Sometimes I go for chocolate, but even though it is yogurt, it makes me feel heavy, so I usually go for fruit flavors. I am in love with their honeydew and sometimes fill up a large cup of it and am happy. This time, however, I went for a trio of honeydew, pineapple and strawberry-kiwi. (other flavors were original, taro, and coconilla, none of which I like...) Toppings bar is great. And they have a new mochi flavor now! It's peach, along with the standard green tea, original and strawberry. I found to sort of hate the peach in overload, but the strawberry and original are always heaped on top of my yogurt. Kind of the reason I go here too... damn you, mochi, chewy achilles' heel! They have a ton of toppings, more than the Archer location, with fruits, cereals, chocolate candies, crumbs.... it's all good and delicious. I always top it off with a raspberry and white chocolate swirl... my total came to $5 and change. Kind of pricey, but worth it. God, it's so good. Overall, not my favorite location, but still tasty and leaves me little room to stray and try other places like Red Mango.

Super friendly, young and eager staff. I feel like the employees are the well-mannered young adults that are going to turn into the least douchy college students in town and should thus be embraced. Love that they have multiple flavors of dok/rice cake for a topping. Good, standard spread of fruits and candies in addition. Pretty stock standard otherwise!

Not my favorite yogurt, the original is pry the best. It's next to dragonfly so we stop sometimes..

The prices are great, but all the froyos are pretty runny and melt really quickly, indicating that there's probably a lot of water in them :( The flavors retain an interesting tartness of yogurt to all the flavors, including sweet ones like taro and coconut. I appreciate the reminder that what I'm eating is supposed to be healthy, but it's a little overwhelming! Good selection of toppings, including different flavors of their namesake mochi. Still prefer red mango/pinkberry for their consistency and flavor.

I am also part of the mochi cult. I am a HUGE fan of this fro-yo stuff and I love trying different franchises that make it. Even though they all make the tart fro-yo, each place's recipe is slightly different and Mochi is my favorite. Mochi's by-the-weight concept is innovative-- you choose the flavors you want, you choose how much you want, and you the amount of toppings you want. There aren't many places that allow you to do this. My favorite flavors are coconilla, original, and mango. Just about all the flavors are good, but some are a bit too sweet for me, so if I'm going to get a sweeter flavor, I make sure to get original as well to balance the sweetness. I also love how their point card now allows you to get 8oz. yogurt free once the card is fully punched. Before, it was only 6oz! The only thing I wonder is when Mochi will bring out green tea as a flavor!? I've seen it on their brochure, but I've NEVER seen it as a flavor when I go there. They need to get it soon!

Gotta admit, I was pleasantly surprised by this lil frozen yogurt place. The interior is a high gloss cut above what I expected. Clearly they hired a designer with talent and vision, and the place reads like 1970s Tomorrowland meets 2001 but updated for now. Maybe a touch of Space 1999 thrown in for good measure. Anime playing on the flat panels adds a nice touch to the vibe. The dealio: You taste whatever you want, then you squirt how much frozen yumminess you desire in a cup - add toppings as desired (they have a bazillion - and they all look good) and weigh. $.45 times X ounces = your bill. Spiffy arrangement if you ask me. Flavors: Chocolate. Yum. Raspberry - dayum, double yum. Taro & coconilla - totally unexpectedly tasty yums. Lemon Meringue - lawzamercy dats good. The flavors rotate, and I didn't try them all - I ended up with a squirt each of raspberry, chocolate and coconilla with a few snowcaps on top. Thats mighty fine snacking right there. Also: They sell mochi covered ice cream bonbons too. I'm gonna hit those next time I'm in. Mochi is some sort of gummy rice flour asian snacky stuff. Interesting texture. This little shop is full of tasty win. Saw a sign 3.00 minimum on credit cards.

Yes, I am one of many who are part of the mochi cult. When mochi opened up next to pita pit last summer, I was very excited to tell everyone I know. So, I've eyed the mochi sign @downtown for months, patiently awaiting for their doors to open. Well, they have. And I must say, I wholeheartedly approve. I tried their cheesecake frozen yogurt, a new flavor for me, however, their flavors change each week, but flavors like coconilla and taro stay on I believe. The decor is nice, a lot like the other location, albeit a little less spacious. Instead of a yellow theme like the first, this one is done in a pinkish watermelon color, very summery and vibrant. It seems the market for gainesville's froyo is going to be oversaturated, with red mango also opening their doors, and yogaberry opening up.. which only adds to lollicup and tcby, not to mention ice cream places like coldstone and bjs. Still I'm glad to be able to get my mochi fix @ downtown now :) Its kinda nice not to have to go all the way to archer if you're on this corner of town. Of course I'm highly anticipating the opening of their university avenue location.

Mochi is an addiction of mine! :) I work next door to them and I must eat there at least 4 times a week! I love the frozen cheesecake topping and the red bean bon bons!

Extremely fresh and different toppings, unique and traditional yogurt flavors. Love the taro topped with tons of fruit.

To me, a place is about the service almost as much as the food and I had a horrible experience at the Mochi on Archer Rd. I took my daughter the other day and asked to see a list of ingredients because she can't have gluten. They acted proprietary and refused to show me more than nutrition facts. The girl rudely told me"I think it probably does". After then being treated like a major inconvenince by the manager..., I learned that as rare as it is with yougurt, their product DOES contain small amounts of gluten. We left and went down the street to Red Mango. Not only was there a large sign on the wall that advertised their frozen yogurt as gluten-free, but as soon as the employee heard me point it out to my daughter, he jumped in to help. As firs...t time customers, we got special treatment explaining the flavors and sel-service. Then, we were met at the counter with offers to get us fresh toppings so we wouldn't have to worry about contamination which meant actually cutting new fruit for us. The employee was knowledgable about which candies were GF and they were patient and nice to my daughter. All in all it was a great experience, but I found one place that I will NEVER go back to in Gainesville.

Mochi does not honor their coupons! Beware, if you go into Mochi with a coupon do not expect them to honor it. I have a bogo up to $5 coupon from the Entertainment Book, with this location's address explicitly printed on the back, and the employee said she had never seen it before and would not honor it. There was no manager on duty but she said I could come back tonight when the manager was here and try to use it. I will not ever go back and will let everyone know how they treat their customers.

They could really call it MmmmmmmmmmMochi. Delicious, self-serve frozen yogurts (mostly tart) and then a server-served topping bar! The original is great, but don't shy away from the Taro flavor...I couldn't get a great description from the person working there, so just try it, it's lovely! Especially swirled with Coconilla...MmmmmmmmmmMochi. You can have as many taste-test cuplettes as you'd like, and I'm a big fan of taste testing! Otherwise (hello!) I wouldn't have tried TaroCocoNilla.

Wow I was just in town for the day and passed this place. The frozen yogurt is the best I've had. The taro and the strawberry is great. They give you cups as to walk in to taste all the yogurts. He price is by weight which is great if you just want a little or a lot. Wish thy had one of these in Atlanta.

The yogurt here is quite good (just don't overfill your cup and the price id right). Different from the fro yo we're all used to, having a more tart flavor. I was surprised by the chocolate as I found it to be perfectly chocolaty. I do, however, have to agree with Sheldon. I cannot, in principle, rate a place five stars that offers little to no food resembling its namesake.

Mochi does not honor the Entertainment Book coupons that state in writing with their address listed on them. The girl advised that they are not a Mymochi franchise and laughed when she looked down at her apron, which has that same name and emblem as the coupon on it and said "I know our aprons say it but were not". I was completely appalled and disgusted at the lack of service and confusion. I will not only never visit any of their stores again but will make sure I advise others not to as well.

I find that this location is the neglected little sister of the original Archer Road Mochi. Yogurt flavors are always missing or unlabeled and there are not as many toppings to choose from. There are always less customers here as well, even considering their great location near everything downtown. You know the rent costs a fortune here, so step it up a bit. Gainesville is definitely missing late night dessert bars downtown, this could be a great option.
