The BEST hibachi in Gainesville. Hands down. Great atmosphere, great chef (Mr. Yummy) and great service. Miraku gives a comfortable feel as if a family member is cooking dinner for you. Mr. Yummy is the owner and also the one and ONLY chef there. He asks how you like certain things cooked because he knows everyone has a different taste for things. The only bad thing about this place is the location. If this place was more out in the open, it would be the most popular hibachi restaurant in town. I guarantee it.

After trying all of the steak house's in Gainesville we quickly made this our go to place. Unfortunately as of late(our last three visit's have not been good). Service has became slow, there is hardly anyone there even on their supposed to be busy nights, food has became blah and there is not much of a show.

Awesome food & great service! Mr. Yummy makes for a great time!!! Also for 2 entrees, 2 sushi rolls, and about 6 bottled beers cost only $60!

Visiting from out of town. Restaurant was empty at 7pm; here's why: Service was slow, food was terrible (couldn't even swallow the grilled tuna), restaurant had an odor. Big disappointment for $35 a person.

I was in town for the night and got food to go. I should have not gotten out of the car, the building is run down and doesn't even look open. The sushi was gross and the chicken I got didn't look edible. My salad was warm and the noodles were also gross. The only thing I ate was the rice, it waste a waste of $30. I will NEVER go there again.

My family and I have eaten here for years. The food is delicious and they give generousness sized portions. Definitely our favorite Japanese steak house around this area. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because sometimes they have rookie chefs who are slow and give out undersized portions. But if you get Mr. Yummy your guaranteed to have a great time and more food than you can eat in one sitting.

I want to give this place a higher score. Maybe a 3.5. It definitely doesn't deserve a 1. It's kind of broken down on the outside and when you walk up (and through the entrance area) it makes you wonder if the place is condemned. Then you see all the desperate koi fish and it puts a smile on your face. I wasn't greeted when I walked in- had to find someone, but that's fine. Sat at the sushi bar and I really liked my waitress (k). She was super nice and attentive. The yummy roll was very good! But the nigiri masago roll was lacking.., well, masago. I also got one small sliver of ginger and the smallest amount of wasabi I've ever seen at a sushi place. I also ordered the wakame special- it was good, but nothing to write home about. One really positive was the waitress brought me extra eel sauce and spicy mayo for free!!! Nice touch- she def made me happy. Price of the meal without tip was ~$32. Would I recommend it? If you are staying in the hotels next to it then yes, but I wouldn't go out of your way to stop.

I don't know why this place has such bad reviews. The outside I pretty dated and honestly I thought it was closed for the longest time. Once you actually check it out though it's pretty nice and the have a huge koi pond. The good had always been amazing too. Mr. Yummy is an awesome chef and is funny and interacts with everyone too and involves them. Definitely the best hibachi in town.

Took the family there again. New chef. He is definitely green. But the food was good. And the atmosphere was great. Still my favorite place.

ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING. DIRTY, STINKY, POOR SERVICE. Gorped up food, that is actually quite bland, unflavored and slopped on your plate. I ordered filet mignon and snapper. I was given ROUND STEAK and TILAPIA. Small portions also. I kept a sample of the fish in a napkin and will take it to a DNA testing site. I will post the results ASAP. Avoid this place....at all costs. The idiots who gave positive reviews about this place have doubtfully ever had a quality dining experience....obviously. It is a pathetic attempt at true teppanyaki!. So bad, I had to sign up to yelp to post about it. Update: 6/22/15 Time has not lessened the wretched experience I had there months ago. I did have the fish tested and the result was as expected, Nile Tilapia. I was told to present this information to the state and that they would fine the restaurant. It is apparently a big deal in Florida to sell fish that isn't truly of the species it is supposed to be. You have been warned.

I can't believe the reviews that some people are putting for this place. First of all there is ONE person that actually does the cooking in this place so if you don't get lucky and sit down to a table right as he is getting ready to start then you will wait at least a half an hour before he comes to your table. The miso and salad were whatever since they are basically the same everywhere but everything cooked on the grill had the same burnt gross flavor. The sauces provided tasted like a chemical ginger cleaner of some sort and a watery thousand island. Definitely avoid this place its gross.

We had to walk out of this place. We were debating sushi or hibachi but as the "sushi room" was empty, we went the hibachi route. We were seated immediately but then waited forever - roughly 45 minutes. The other table in the room had been waiting even longer than us for a chef and looked bored out of their minds. When we left, we still didn't have a chef - not only were we tired of waiting, but the straw that broke the camel's back? The grease that dripped down off the hood right onto my plate. I looked up and saw grease accumulated all along the edge, just waiting to continue dripping. Disgusting, I'm so thankful I didn't actually eat here.

I had hibachi here - it was average, but not bad. There were no other people in the restaurant but it took a pretty long time. Food was okay - chicken hibachi came with fried rice, shrimp, soup, and salad. It said it came with noodles but we didn't get any. Fried broccoli was good but had to ask for different sauce.

This is my go to Japanese steakhouse around here. Best yum yum sauce, huge tables (not cramped like yomato) they do cool tricks and the food is so good!

Went at 8:30pm on a Tuesday night. It took us a little while to get started, but our group had a good time. It was weird at first because we were the only party there and there was no music in the background. The first things to arrive were the miso soup & ginger salad... and they were INCREDIBLE. Seriously, the ginger dressing on the salad is awesome. The prices are similar to Yamato & a little cheaper than Benihana. I ordered a NY strip & grouper plate (comes with salad, soup, rice, a little shrimp appetizer and veggies), Split a sushi roll with a friend, and got a dessert for about $35 (including 18% gratuity). My rice was lacking veggies and flavor, the Grouper was a little "fishier" than other places I go to (although cooked properly), and my NY strip was alright. Not bad, but not outstanding. What WAS outstanding was a sushi roll they call the "Yummy Roll". If this review was based off of that sushi, I would give 5 stars! Overall, staff is nice, service is a little slow, ONLY ORDER YOUR GROUPER IN A SUSHI ROLL, try the Yummy Roll, and don't order more than one meat (so much food!) Miraku may not be my "go to"place, but I will definitely go back if I do want hibachi. I plan to come back during a weekend and I will update my review. Oh! and you get a free meal on your birthday if someone else orders. Sweet.

Nice ambiance and the hibachi crowd seemed to have a great time. I was in the sushi portion and my assumption is that this is not their specialty. My rolls for the most part fell apart when trying to eat them, that said it was still very tasty. I made the mistake of ordering a martini, also not the bartenders specialty, however the miraku scorpion was fantastic. Overall a good, not great sushi experience, but I will be back to give their hibachi table a shot, and have another miraku scorpion!

I don't like posting anything negative but I have to, hopefully ownership and will wake up and make improvements. Unfortunately too late for me, I won't be returning. Last night they had between 6-8 full tables, 1 hibachi cook and 2-3 wait staff. 7:30 reservation, got the soup at 8:00, salad at 8:20, still no cook at our table by 8:35. We got up, didn't say anything and walked out. It's really too bad ownership doesn't care about hiring and retaining good people. DO NOT take a reservation if you don't have the staff to serve the customers!

I came in early on a Monday night and sat at the sushi bar, I had great service and the sushi was awesome. I didn't do habachi so i can't comment on that. The mudslide roll was fresh and was very tasty. Had an appetizer (gyoza) as well very good. Pleasantly surprised.

I got take out sushi so I'm not sure of the actual dinning experience but the food was absolutely delicious. It was fresh and they are not stingy by far. Prices are also very reasonable. Highly recommend!

I loved the decor of this place. However, as I eat leftovers from this place I have to say their food is really subpar. Its possible we had a bad chef, but my friends who have visited here more say otherwise. Its nice to see the chef cooking your meal of course, but it falls short since, you've seen it being cook, you expect it to taste delicious, but it tastes like cardboard. The fishes in the pond and the gong out front is cute, and again the atmosphere is nice, but the food makes me want to gag. Extensive menu, however (probably part of their problem) and lots and lots of fun drinks. The chefs are also really corny, but probably really funny for little kids.

Miraku's is pretty much everything you'd want in a hibachi place. It's family owned so you get a real personal touch when you visit. The decor is beautiful, the staff and super friendly and the food is fantastic. Mr. Yummy is incredibly funny even after you've seen his act a few times. The prices are really good considering how much food you actually get, I can never finish it all. One of the best things about this place is the Koi fish out front! They'll let you feed them if you ask nicely. Miraku's is a little bit hidden and off the everything is on "everything is on Archer or University" trail, but that just makes Miraku's a hidden gem.

Good Food. Great Service. Ask for Mr. Yummy! He did an entertaining show that the whole family enjoyed.

Not as good as Kobe, but not bad. The food is great, though the place itself is a little dumpy and could use some work. Last time we went we had to wait too long at the table so they could fill it up a little more before they took our order, but other than that (and the need for some remodeling) it's not bad at all. We've been a few times now and the food is consistently tasty, and, well, neither one of us has gotten sick after eating here. We have tried a few other Japanese restaurants in Gainesville and though some look nicer, the food disappointed. Food: 4 stars Appearance/atmosphere: 2 stars
